Une exposition qui présente, pour la première fois, sa collection patrimoniale exceptionnelle qu’il a réunie au fil du temps. Azzedine Alaïa était un grand virtuose de la coupe. Sa technicité lui venait de la profonde admiration qu’il avait pour les couturiers du passé et d’une longue pratique acquise auprès de ses clientes qu’il a habilement servies. Alaïa était aussi un remarquable collectionneur. Il débute sa collection en 1968, à la fermeture de la maison Balenciaga dont il récupère de précieuses pièces. Captivé par l’étude des créations haute couture du maître espagnol, il développe, dès lors, une passion pour l’histoire de sa propre discipline. Alaïa a réuni plus de 20 000 pièces témoins de l’art de ses prédécesseurs, depuis la naissance de la haute couture à la fin du XIXe siècle jusqu’à certains de ses contemporains. Il est ainsi le plus grand collectionneur de pièces de couturiers parmi les plus prestigieux : Worth, Jeanne Lanvin, Jean Patou, Cristóbal Balenciaga, Madame Grès, Paul Poiret, Gabrielle Chanel, Madeleine Vionnet, Elsa Schiaparelli, ou encore Christian Dior... La création contemporaine est représentée par des pièces de Jean Paul Gaultier, Comme des Garçons, Alexander McQueen, Thierry Mugler ou encore Yohji Yamamoto... Réunissant près de 140 pièces parmi les plus exceptionnelles, le parcours de l’exposition retrace l’histoire de cette inestimable collection qu’Alaïa a constituée dans le plus grand secret et qui n’a jamais été dévoilée de son vivant, en France comme à l’international.

Remember… Irish actress Caitriona Balfe looked stunning — as per usual — on the red carpet at the 2020 Oscars in Valentino Haute Couture! The 40-year-old newlywed wore a unique outfit that involved a dress and a blouse when she walked the carpet at her first Academy Awards. She stunned in the black, fishtail-style gown which fell straight down her body in an extremely flattering style. But the strapless dress wasn’t the star of the show: it was the sheer pink blouse she wore over the top! The high-neck blouse was made of a very light material, and fell down to her hips. It also featured a gorgeous, oversized bow which she wore to the left of her neck. Stunning! The model-turned-actress accessorized with silver stud earrings and a matching silver ring and bracelet. — Some of my opinions on the newest ‘Hottest Brands’ ranking Lyst for Q-2 of 2024

The Ranking :

Off the bat, the top three are immediately deserved and perfectly in place. In the first quarter of the year, the same three were holding the top three spots, though the order was Miu Miu in first, Prada in second and Loewe in third, which was fitting for the time, but I do have to commend them in recognizing Loewe's rise to the number one spot. Never the less, Miuccia Prada single handedly holding down 2 of the top 5 spots definitely is something to commend. Loewe's ascension to that number one spot seems to be most directly credible to its appearances in mainstream pop culture. Between Taylor Russel being the nearly, if not the most talked about at the Met Gala this year and Loewe's collection being so heavily featured in the popular 'Challengers' movie with Zendaya. Loewe's exposure to the public recently has definitely been profound, and it's definitely paying off. Further down into the top five, between Saint Laurent and Bottega Veneta, I think their spots are debatably interchangeable. If anythying, Bottega Veneta would have the edge amongst the two with the addition of Jacob Elordi to their roster of brand ambassadors in consideration to all the recent hype around him due to his role in the movie, 'Saltburn'. The rest of the top 20 listing is pretty mediocre to me, in my opinions there's generally a lot of wiggle room for the brands to go up or down on the list, but if I had to personally make some immediate changes, I'd drop Balenciaga, The Row and Moncler from the list in general and replace with some other luxury brands that have actively been in media circulation—including Diesel which has been dropped from the list and replaced with coach, which I can respect. On top of that, I would suggest a slight raise on Alaïa's ranking. They've been pretty fairly covered in the media lately, with the most notable of their recent endeavors being dressing Jennie Kim for the Met Gala, which was a hit looking at her fanbase.
