Sunday Notes: Cole Ragans Got His Tight Cluster Back By Moving on the Rubber
A more-consistent arm slot related to a move back to the third base side of the rubber has contributed to Cole Ragans’s success this season. The raw stuff was obviously already there. As Ben Clemens wrote back in March, the Kansas City Royals left-hander “looks like an absolute terror on the mound.” My colleague went on to say that if he “were designing a pitcher in a laboratory, he’d look a lot…

When is Yankees vs. Royals AL Division Series Game 3? Date, Time and Lineups
The American League Division Series shifts venues to Kauffman Stadium for Wednesday’s Game 3. And after a week-plus spent handling their postseason business while living out of suitcases, the Royals can’t wait to enjoy some home cooking. “We’re looking forward to getting back to the K, seeing the fans there,” said left-hander Cole Ragans. “It’s going to be fun to have playoff baseball back in…

Royals Shutout Twins.
Twins 0 Royals 5 W-Ragans (11-9) L-Matthews (1-3)
The Minnesota Twins have not been playing good baseball lately. They have still held a Wildcard spot going down the stretch and a big series with the Royals started tonight in Kansas City. The Royals got the scoring started in the third inning when Kyle Isbel drew a one-out walk. Tommy Pham doubled him home and the Royals took a one-run lead after three innings of play. Kansas City got back to work in the fourth as Michael Massey smacked a Zebby Matthews fastball out to right for a solo homer. This doubled the KC lead to two. The Royals kept adding on in the fifth when Tommy Pham reached on an infield single. MJ Melendez singled to right and Hunter Renfroe knocked in a pair with a single to right. This extended the Kansas City lead to four after five innings of play. Meanwhile, Cole Ragans tossed six shutout innings and the Royals bullpen did the rest. Jams McArthur fanned two in the seventh and Sam Long put up a zero in the eighth. Hunter Renfroe led-off the eighth with a single and a wild pitch moved up pinch-runner Dairon Blanco. With one out, Yuli Gurriel hit a sac fly to left. The Royals lead grew to five and John Schreiber had a 1-2-3- ninth. Kansas City took the first game of a big series.
-Final Thoughts- Zebby Matthews tried to do his best, but got hit hard at times. He went five innings and allowed four runs on nine hits with a walk and four strikeouts. Ronny Henriquez threw two perfect innings and Caleb Thielbar gave up a run in the ninth. The Twins scattered four hits and went 0-for-1 with runners in scoring position. They left four men on base. The Royals have now taken over the second wildcard spot by a half game. The Twins are 4.5 games ahead of the Mariners for the final playoff spot. Tomorrow, Bailey Ober faces Alec Marsh in Game 2.

feels like a vote of confidence in Locklear that they flew him all the way out to KC for one day to get his first start against Cole Ragans rather than having him wait for the team to come back to WA on Monday so he could start against the White Sox instead
