Wandered into the shop across from Danthelon's, called "Carm's Garms", and was immediately accosted by a young man trying to pick a fight with Hector.
"Put 'em up! Put 'em up!"
Hector continues to be utterly baffled by the people of this city. And while he was invited to any number of sparring matches at the monastery, no one has ever used this particular phrasing, so he has literally no idea what this man is talking about.
"Put what up?" he says with innocent confusion.
The young man's eyes go wide with excitement.
"Yay! You spoke to me! Nobody ever talks to me!" he says eagerly.
"Your fists, silly! I'm trying something out! My name's Naaber, adventurer-to-be, soon to be the best adventurer anyone's ever seen!"
His arms drop to his sides and then he knits his eyebrows with an expression of deep thought. "As soon as I figure out what kind of adventurer I'm going to be." He grins at Hector brightly. "What do you think? Could I be a fighter?"
Oh my god. XD
IDK how I thought we were going to get all the way through this game without a Noober reference. (For those who did not play the previous games - there is always an NPC (Noober in BG1, Nüber in Siege of Dragonspear, and Neeber in BG2) who appears in a particular area and just follows you around, interrupting you with repeated conversations and talking about inane stuff. Think Conrad Verner vibes. And here is his spiritual successor. XD )
Hector, of course, is unaware of all of this context and is happy to help a young man desiring his advice. He counseled many young acolytes in his time at the monastery, of course, and trained alongside them and helped them grow as fighters too.
So he nods agreeably. "Why don't you actually fight me, and I'll tell you?"
Naaber, unfortunately, folds almost immediately.
"Um... sure. I'll just... raise my fists and..."
"Urgh. It's no use. I can't do it. Guess old Naaber's more of a talker than a fighter."
Hector gives him a slightly bemused smile. "Maybe pick a different career," he suggests gently.
"Phew!" Naaber says cheerfully at once. "I was hoping you'd say that! To tell you the truth, I don't actually like hurting people very much. Or getting hurt. It's a good job I ran into you!"
He grins brightly, turns, and runs off, leaving Hector standing baffled behind him.
#bjk plays baldur's gate 3#hector carlisle#lmao i should have known this would be coming up at some point#also apparently this guy is voiced by a youtuber/streamer named cohhcarnage?#god i would lose my shit if i was able to be a popular enough creator that i was recruited to voice in a game like this#that would be so cool

tysm for the tag @sleepyscully!!!
last song: "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" by Beyonce, a classic.
last movie: Red, White, & Royal Blue, which is so fucking good - a good blend of polished and professional while also indulging in slow moments of intense emotion. exactly what i love in a movie. and it's queer so like a cherry on top.
currently watching: CohhCarnage Plays Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition because i figure if i'm waiting 4 months to play BG3 i might as well watch the first 2 games and learn some of the lore and familiarize myself with any recurring characters.
currently reading: uh... my permanent tabs of MSR fic on AO3 XD (and also some supplemental Astarion fic ofc). not currently reading a book, although i'm waiting for Will They or Won't They to be available online at my library (~3 weeks left!).
last thing i researched: politics of the 1968 election. not to brag (i'm bragging) but i did get an A+ on that paper and it was such an A+ that my professor emailed me to say i did that well. i have that email pinned in my school outlook to cheer me up when i need it, actually.
no pressure, @waiting-for-the-day @abbyhaslongshorts @ellivia @amplifyme + anyone who wants to do it since i have too many friends to tag you all <3

Have you ever thought to yourself "Hey this Okudera guy is pretty cool! I wonder what other people think about him?"
Well then this is a video for you! After watching countless hours of youtubers playing through Yakuza 5 Chapter 3 Frozen Roar, I have compiled the highlights for your viewing pleasure. It is hardly exhaustive and I have surely missed out on some interesting commentary because I did not watch the entire letsplays, but hopefully it will prove interesting nonetheless.
Some notes and observations are below the break, as well as a complete list of all the youtubers featured in video. If you enjoyed their commentary, please make sure to like comment and subscribe!
Notes on Procedure: - To make this video I watched a total of 10 letsplays - obviously I did not watch the full thing 10 times. Basically, I skipped to when Okudera was introduced, then watched up until around the first mission then skipped to the Big Reveal scene after the snowmobile part. - so there may be other good content in between that I missed out on - but to be honest a lot of those in between hunting missions barely have anything to do with Okudera anyways lol - the videos I picked were just the first few letsplays to show up on Youtube (though I did try searching for some more specific terms like "Okudera" and "Yama-oroshi" which did yield a few more that didn't show up the first time) - there were a few Yakuza 5 letsplays I didn't include because A) they didn't even complete the Hunter & Killer storyline (and also the videos were really long and inconvenient to download) or B) they completed the storyline but had no commentary (could be argued that this is a walkthrough and not a letsplay) - sorry to anyone I missed!
Observations on the videos: - there were some things that happened INVARIABLY like when they first see the Jizo Statue EVERYONE veered toward it and were like "hey what's this" - also i think everyone commented on Saejima's failure to zip up his jacket and his lack of proper winter attire lol - everyone was VERY concerned about Baba - they were probably more concerned about Baba than Okudera honestly - the people who didn't finish the side story in one sitting complained about the pacing and how the section dragged a lot - I think the only one to 100% complete ALL the hunting missions was CohhCarnage so kudos to him! MVP. I did NOT watch all 500 hours or whatever of him shooting bears lol. - Everyone played the Remastered version of the game except for Feel The Niche, who released his playthrough of the ps3 version 7 years ago when the game was actually niche. His commentary was unremarkable, but I did want to highlight his videos because the ps3 version features a slightly different translation and it was VERY interesting to compare. - Those that actually defeated Yama-oroshi strangely didn't reflect on the events that much. They just immediately got distracted by the next objective and didn't really offer much in the way of interesting analysis of Okudera. Oh well! - as far as I can tell nobody had anything interesting to say during the leaving scene. They just commented on how nice Baba looked in his new coat lol

Been watching Sips, CohhCarnage and Danny/ESO play medieval RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance on YouTube lately, it’s been a game on my to-play list, but I never bought it as I didn’t think it’d run on my PC. As I’m getting a new PC soon, I decided to buy the game on Steam yesterday (with all the DLC for £8!) and today I installed it and gave it a go!
I’m surprised to say it runs pretty well on my ageing GTX 960 system, although my PC gets a little warm and the fans speed up. I really want to start a playthrough of this game, probably when I get my new PC, I may even record myself playing it - hopefully they’ve ironed out all the bugs!
