Wie ich Italienisch lerne

Seit ungefähr 1,5 Jahren lerne ich Italienisch. Das ist für mich die erste Fremdsprache, die ich nicht in der Schule oder im Studium lerne und somit nicht mehrmals pro Woche “gezwungen” bin, an Unterricht teil zu nehmen.

Mittlerweile spüre ich, wie ich mich etwas sicherer fühle und beim letzten Aufenthalt in Italien letzten Herbst konnte ich mich das erste Mal mit Einheimischen unterhalten, erzählen was wir den Tag über so unternommen und zum Beispiel einen Tisch reservieren.

Im Laufe der Zeit habe ich mir einen bunten Mix an Tools und Hilfsmitteln zusammengestellt, von denen ich glaube dass sie alle einen guten Beitrag leisten:

1) VHS Kurs

Der Kurs an der Volkshochschule ist mein wichtigster Grundstein. Ohne die Verpflichtung mir selbst gegenüber, jeden Donnerstag dort hin zu gehen, würden auch all die anderen Tools nichts bringen. In den 2,5 Stunden pro Woche lerne ich viel und vor allem komme ich da auch zum sprechen.

2) Podcast: Coffeebreak Italian

Der beste Podcast zum Italienisch lernen ist für mich “Coffeebreak Italian”. Jede Folge hat ein Thema und es wird auf Englisch erklärt und übersetzt. Der Podcast begleitet mich hauptsächlich im Fitness-Studio oder auf Bahnfahrten. Wenn ihr diesen Podcast kostenlos abonnieren möchtet, sucht einfach in einer Podcast App oder in Spotify danach.

3) Duolingo

Eine gute App, motivierende Sounds, kleine Vokabel und Grammatik Häppchen. Duolingo ist auf jeden Fall eine gute Ergänzung. Leider habe ich nach einem über 30-tägigen Streak dann eine ganze Weile nichts dort gemacht. Aber da möchte ich jetzt wieder aktiver werden. Bist du auch bei Duolingo? Schick mir eine Kontaktanfrage! 4) Italienische Musik

Passiv lernen durch Musikhören. Auf diese Idee bin ich erstaunlich spät gekommen. Aber in den letzten Wochen habe ich recht intensiv nach guter italienischer Musik gesucht. Dabei ist diese Playlist auf Spotify entstanden, die ihr gern abonnieren könnt. 5) Nach Italien fahren

Das Beste ist natürlich, die Sprache im echten Leben anzuwenden. An Ostern geht’s für mich wieder nach Italien. Erst in die Cinque Terre und dann ins Valle Cannobina am Lago Maggiore.

Abgesehen davon gibt es noch mehr Dinge, die ich auch für sinnvoll halte, aber bisher noch nicht selbst mache:

6) Deutsch-Italienisch Tandem

Erst vor Kurzem habe ich beschlossen, dass mein Italienisch jetzt eventuell gut genug ist, um mal zu einer Tandem Veranstaltung zu gehen. In Berlin gibt’s das jeden Freitag. Jetzt muss der Plan nur noch in die Tat umgesetzt werden... Link: Italian German Tandem Berlin auf Meetup.com

7) Zeitschriften, Bücher, Filme

In meinem Zeitschriftenstapel neben dem Bett verstecken sich zum Beispiel ein paar Ausgaben des ADESSO Magazins, die könnte ich mal lesen. Was es auch gibt sind Bücher wie Romane oder Krimis, die sogar Vokabellisten integriert haben. Und Filme kann man natürlich auch auf Italienisch schauen.

My recommended podcasts for language learning

These are some podcasts that I listen to to improve/learn languages (the ones I’ve mentioned that I’m involved in) that I’d recommend to others who wants to learn the same languages as me

I love listening to podcasts on my way home from school, when I’m just chilling in bed or whenever I don’t have enough time to sit down and “properly” study language - so these are some podcasts I’ve come across during my journey!

CoffeeBreak Spanish/French/Italian/Chinese - They have different episodes for different “levels” of fluency, which is really handy because you can move on if you’re feeling more confident. They teach about everyday situations at the same time as they are teaching you important vocabulary which is really what I prefer when listening to podcasts in foreign languages. They also got more languages than the ones I’ve mentioned! 

Learn French by Podcast - This one touches more on everyday subjects, and I personally think it’s more suited for someone who has a tad more experience and wants to listen to more “Light hearted” instead of straight out educational at times.

News in Slow Japanese - Slower = Better, if you’re on a more beginner level of Japanese. I’d recommend taking a little bit more time on this one if you’re not familiar with the most common vocabulary, otherwise it’s a great listening practice! 

Talk to me in Korean - I think a lot of people who studies Korean has come across this website/youtube/podcast. I think it works really well, since it’s bilingual people who are teaching (= easier to understand since they can give more proper explanations, at least according to me) and they mix educational content with more everyday situations. It’s great for beginner to at least intermediate/advanced levels!

Hyviä uutisia - Since I already know a lot of Finnish, but simply has forgotten a lot (I’m not a complete stranger to the language) I can start of from a more intermediate level, BUT, I’m still kind of “buffering” while trying to use the language. So I decided to listen to some news in Finnish, which has worked really well! They speak semi-fast, so you’d have to be somewhat confident in my opinion. But otherwise it’s great to help me remember and improve my Finnish, as well as keeping up with what’s happening.

Luke’s English Podcast - This is made by a British teacher who touches on everyday subjects while being educational. It’s really great if you simply want to practice by listening to comprehensive conversations!

TED Talks - I love listening to these when I cannot sleep lol, but they’re so interesting! You can practice listening to formal speeches from people from all over the world (practice listening to different accents) as well as learning something fun on the way. 

Note: I found these on Podcaster on my iPhone, I don’t know if they’re available on Androids or other devices. I’ll update this if I can find any links to websites.

Also, I can’t really recommend any Swedish podcasts because all of the Swedish ones I listen to are made for fluent people so unless you’re that confident, then I can’t really recommend anything as of now. (But send me an ask in case you want to know what Swedish podcasts I listen to/recommend in case you’re that confident)
