Mera naam... (Monkey man Kid X Reader)
A/n: uhhhh idk if I like it as much as coconut & honey but enjoy!
Tumblr media
'you should never lie'
his mother once told him with angry eyes that he hated to see so much. When Kid was just 8 years old, he had lied to his poor mother about going to play near the river just in front of their humble home, instead, going off far away into the market because he wanted to buy the bangle she's been eyeing for a while.
He's been a proper good boy, he swore, he helped Mr Deepesh, their next door neighbour, by cleaning up his chicken coop for money. He didn't mean to worry her.
'You shouldn't lie to the people you love, even when you think it's for a good reason, a lie is a lie,' she had worriedly say while hugging her boy to her chest.
He didn't think those words would haunt him 20 years later. Kid didn't even mean to lie to you, he didn't even mean to fall for you, but he had, and his lies only bury him into a deeper hole.
"Bobby? You're ready to go?" your sweet voice snapped him out of his thoughts, the beer he's been nursing while you pack up the kitchen still in his hand.
"yeah," he nods, giving you a small smile. You wrapped your hands around his arm so easily as if you've been doing it for years, in reality it's only been 4 months.
4 months of lies
4 months of love
His mind wandered back to how he got here, with your hands wrapped around his arm, heading for your motorcycle. Was it that night? When he first entered his shift, he noticed you eyeing him. He didn't think much of it, you were a chef after all. You could've just been curious about the new staff.
Was it when he keeps staring at you too? Unintentionally?
But it's definitely when you start smiling at him. He's never had any other thought than revenge then this.. You... You happened.
"hey handsome, where's your mind travelling to?" you asked so sweetly he didn't even mind. Kid didn't know much about himself but he knew he hated when anyone else interrupt his thought process, not you though, never you.
Kid smiled and shook his head. "nowhere, right here," he covered it up with a quick peck on your lips and took your helmet from you, placing it onto your head and pinning it on for you, then with a stupid smile on his face he lifted the visor to boop your nose. You chuckled.
Fuck, is this love? This overwhelming feeling over the slightest thing you do?
He put on his own helmet and got on the bike, waiting till you get on too. His waist never felt so empty until you wrapped your arms around them.
4 months ago he didn't even have his own room, now he's heading to "our store" getting off the bike and ordering "the usual" and going straight to "our spot"
He doesn't even know who he is anymore.
Your kiss on his lips brought him back to reality.
"congrats, baby, on making it to VIP floor." you said with a smile on your lips.
If only you knew why he wanted to be on VIP floor so bad.
"thank you, jaan," he whispered softly, arms around your waist, swaying left to right lightly as if dancing to a song. He leaned down and kissed you again. "what's this? What's wrong?" damn you, you always somehow knew, your finger tracing his eyebrows as if to pull the frown out of his face.
He didn't know what to say. Tell you what? He's not at all who you think he is? He's plotting to kill a man? Burn the hotel? Kill one of the most influential fucking man in India?
"hey, you can tell me, Bobby, I'm here," you called that name so lovingly he had to physically fight from flinching.
In a perfect world where he isn't such a coward he'll open his mouth and tell you the truth but the truth is he's just that, a coward.
"i swear it's nothing, jaanu, just... Tired," he smiled and hugged you burying his nose in your neck, scared that he'll forget what you smell like once you find out who he is.
Your fingers snaked into his curls, playing with them like always, like it's yours, like he's yours.
"I've got you, always," you whispered into his ear, planting a soft kiss after.
He hope you meant that
Because after almost 2 months of disappearing, hiding from the police in the temple with the hijras, he's back, at your house, knocking.
You opened the door, you looked great but your eyes looks almost dead, somber.
"jaanu," that's all he could whisper, seeing you again is...
You tried to close the door but his reflexes made him able to hold the door open.
"please, please just let me explain myself"
You looked at him and scoff. "explain what? I don't even know who you are, what could you possibly say to me? What was your plan? Kill Rana and pin it on me or something? Is that it?" your voice gets shakier and shakier by each sentence, your grip on the door loosen. Kid quickly shook his head.
"no, no, never, jaanu," he had wrapped his arms around your crying figure, his body is half through the door, cupping your cheek and tenderly caressed your tears away.
"I trusted you! I loved you!" you cried out and all he could do was hold onto you while you smack your fists on his chest again and again.
"I know, i know," he whispered, he lead you inside as you limped against him.
On the couch he held you, tighter than usual, he lets you cry onto his chest, not caring about the condition of his shirt.
"you didn't call, you didn't explain, you just vanished, I thought you fucking died!" you cried out.
"I know jaan, I'm sorry, I'm sorry" thats all he can offer. He kept whispering apologies and sweet nothings into your ear until you end up falling asleep on his chest. He laid you down on the couch, planted a soft kiss on your forehead and went to the kitchen. Skillfully manoeuvring through your kitchen, making a meal as he's been there countless of time. He didn't keep track of time, only glancing at the clock when he hears a croak of your voice calling his 'name'.
"I'm here jaan," Kid said walking towards the couch to see your eyes teared again.
"I thought you left again," you said with a whine in your voice, he sat next to you, arm pulling your towards him to kiss your head. "I'm here," he repeated.
"I went to make you some food, it's pretty early I don't think you've eaten," he explained, you simply nodded.
"I... I want you to explain to me who you are and what's happening." you said voice beyond tired.
"my name isn't Bobby,"
"yeah no shit," you scoffed, he only nodded, he's glad really, you're letting him hold you, touch you that's a good sign, right?
" my name... Is Kid. I worked at Queenie's hotel because I'm... Plotting revenge on Rana and Baba shakti. For killing my mother." his voice grew quieter and quieter. The obvious pain in his voice when he mentioned his mother.
"my hands," you looked at those hands, his scarred hands he meant, the ones you would plant kisses on after a night of passion, the ones you loved so much. "they got hurt when I tried to put out the fire my mother was set on... By Rana Singh," he said, face grew harder, voice turned colder.
You stared into his eyes. "Kid," you tried calling his name. He looked at you, all attention on you as if nothing else matters.
"I swear I didn't mean to rope you into this. I didn't mean to hurt you, I couldn't... I couldn't stay away from you, I tried. You consume me, my thoughts, I've never thought of anything else but revenge all my life and you walked into it and make me feel alive again. As if I could have any other life than just death after revenge. I never wanted to live but when I hold you I feel this fear of death that I've never felt before. Understand that all was real, my feelings for you was real, is real," he begged, his hands on your cheeks again.
"but you tried to kill him anyway, why?"
He shook his head. "when I saw him. When I saw that bastard I lost it. Why does he get to live his life while my mother is ashes somewhere on the forest floor?" he grunted, face angered.
You do what you always does, your finger start tracing his eyebrows, his face visibly soften. Like he could breathe again. He took your other hand and kissed it, leaning into your touch. He had been craving you, and you knew. "you're going after him again aren't you?"
"yeah" was all he could breathe out.
You sighed but you understood. The rage he has, it's all he knows.
"will you come back?"
His face lighten. "you want me to?" he asks, hopeful.
"always, always come back to me."
"but I'll be a fugitive by then," he said worried, he's not sure worried that you'll change your mind or that you'll be a fugitive too if you chose to follow him.
You shook your head. "I don't care, come back, we'll run together, I rather not live without you by my side. But Kid.."
"hm?" he asked, looking at you intently with your hands on his. "don't lie to me ever again. Ever." you warned.
He nodded his head and pulled you into him. "never, jaanu." he kissed you deeply, deeper than he ever did that day, lead your body the way he missed. He devoured you full that day, passion spilling into physical touches. He need you to understand his love. He needs you to scream his name. His real name.

The Candy Man-Part Seven// W.W.
Tumblr media
Info/Warnings: fluff, referring to cum as "cream," male receiving oral sex-kinda graphic
Willy came back into the bedroom later on and spooned you under the covers, "Mae just needed her diaper changed. Mocha is still sleeping soundly." He gave you a tired yet sweet kiss on cheek.
"Thank you for checking on them." you said, taking a hold of his hand that rested at your waist.
"Don't thank me, I love taking care of them. They are my babies, after all. And they are so cute. They look exactly like their Mommy." he nuzzled his nose against your cheek.
"Oh no they don't," you argued, "they are your little clones." you yawned, scooting back further to nestle warmly against him, "I gave birth to mini Willy Wonkas."
"I never want to disagree with you on anything, honey, but you're wrong on this one. They are just like you." he cuddled you tighter, resting his head on you.
He would not let you win this one. You were telling the truth, you thought. Maple and Mocha had green eyes, dark chocolate hair that was starting to curl, and high cheekbones, but he would fight this until the very end.
........
Luckily, the next morning, you woke before Willy did. It was your turn to get the twins ready for the day, and you were glad to spend the time with them.
They were both awake when you arrived in the nursery, bright green eyes opened. They were happy to see you. You changed their diapers and got them into some cute clothes for the new day.
You carried them downstairs and sat and let them nurse for a little while until they were full. When they were done, you put them each in a baby seat with some toys and they were content. You pumped some extra milk and put it in a little jar in the refrigerator for Willy later.
You got to working on a pancake breakfast for you and Willy. You used some Wonka chocolate chips in them, of course. Before you knew it, you heard his footsteps coming down to the kitchen, looking well rested, but he had messy curls, of course.
"Awe, look at my little family." he cooed, kissing each of the babies on the cheek and making them giggle. "Daddy loves you so much." he sang, smiling at them with such joy. He came over to you, wrapping his arms around you as you flipped pancakes on the stove.
"Good morning, Daddy." you smiled, kissing his lips.
"Mm, good morning. Smells amazing in here, my love." he gave you a little peck on the lips before heading over to the coffee pot to pour himself a mug.
"There's some milk for your coffee in the fridge." you said, plating up some pancakes.
Willy looked at you, wide eyed and in disbelief.
You gave him a little wink.
He was speechless as he opened up the fridge and picked up the small jar with your creamy liquid in it. "Oh honey, thank you." he said, twisting open the jar and pouring the milk into his hot coffee mug. He saved the last little bit to drink directly from the jar, "Ahh, it's so good. No wonder the twins are so happy and healthy when they've got a diet based on your milk. They love it too."
"Well, Mr. Wonka," you began, handing him a plate of fresh, steaming flapjacks, "you might like my milk, but I want your cream at nap time, sir."
Willy's eyes nearly popped out their sockalets, "Oh, of course, my darling." he gulped as he took the plate from your hand.
You sat down and had breakfast together as you watched the babies play.
“Oh, babe, I’ve come up with an idea on how to boost your milk production.” he announced with his signature enthusiasm.
“Oh yeah? How’s that?”
“Well, I’ve read that it’s all about hydration, and coconut water is perfect. I’m going to come up with a drink for you to try. I’ll add strawberries and cream to the coconut water for sweetness.”
“Awe, Willy that’s so sweet. And if it’s good, maybe we can start making it for the shoppe. Along with other flavors!” it made you so happy when he fueled his creativity and imagination, “We could market to breastfeeding mothers, young children, the elderly, anyone that needs extra hydration.”
“That’s exactly what I thought too! An idea worth expanding upon. And speaking of expanding, which you and I have talked about with our business, I think we are going to need a factory. We have simply outgrown the chocolate shoppe. It's what we will need to share my chocolate with the world, y/n.” his eyes had the same ambitious gleam about them as the day you met him, just a young man trying to get the word out about his magnificent candy.
“Oh, wow, a whole factory. I love it, Willy. It sounds amazing.” you were in awe, “but where would we build it?”
“That’s the best part, I’m looking to buy that abandoned castle outside of town. It’s got great bones, y/n!”
“That’s great! And think of all the jobs it will provide to the community! Oh, honey, this is your best idea yet, I’m so happy.” you got up from you seat and hugged your handsome, smiling lover.
Willy kissed you and said, “I think this will be wonderful for our family, darling. If all goes well, Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory will be theirs to run one day.” he looked fondly at your twins. They chewed on their toys and jabbered gleefully back and forth.
“It will, my love. I know that you can achieve anything you set your mind to.”
“We, y/n. We can do anything, the four of us. We will have our very own chocolate empire.”
…….
The twins ate once more, and Willy put them down in their cribs for their nap. You practically dragged him by the collar and into your bedroom.
“It is so sexy seeing you come so alive when you speak of your dreams and ideas.” you said, unbuttoning his pants.
“Why thank you.” he said nonchalantly.
“I told you that I wanted your cream, Mr. Wonka, so you better give it to me.” you kneeled in front of him, taking his thick cock into your mouth.
“Mmm.” he moaned behind closed lips as you sucked him.
You slurped back and forth on his cock, bobbing your head. You loved how he filled your mouth and rutted his hips softly into the back of your throat. It was as if he was so excited that he couldn’t contain himself.
Willy brushed his fingers through your hair, keeping your locks out of your face while you pleasured him.
You let his cock plop out of your mouth, his deep pink tip leaking transparent cum. You slowly stroked his veiny shaft with your hands, and moved down, running your tongue over his balls. He was full, and ready to burst. You gently suckled at them before sliding your tongue along the underside of his cock. You teased his smooth tip with your puckered lips just a minute longer.
“Aww, here it comes. Take my cream, my love. It’s all for you.” Willy panted softly.
You opened your mouth, tongue flat out, ready to catch his stream. And he did not disappoint; his load was thick and plentiful, creamy yet salty. It was exactly what you’d been craving.

I will not ask you where you came from
I will not ask you, neither should you
Honey just put your sweet lips on my lips
We should just kiss like real people do
- Like Real People Do By Hozier
The soft sounds of waves crashing against the shore filled your ears as you were about to take another sip from a straw ending in a cut-open coconut. The fresh taste filled your mouth before you gulped the liquid down, sitting straight up again to allow your eyes to roam over the shoreline. A nearly violently bright blue pair of shorts caught your attention and a wide, satisfied grin tugged at your mouth whilst watching Gabriel play around in the water.
About 3 months ago, right after the two of you had somehow managed to bail, swindle and cheat Gabe out of that damned hellhole of an institution, you had decided on selling everything and by everything you had, in fact, meant everything. From your apartment to your car and to the last DVD out of your very preciously cultivated collection. All of it went into two one-way-tickets to Belize and a stay at a cozy, little BnB until you had your stuff figured out.
Getting a job in Belize City thankfully hadn't been too hard on you and instead of mint-coloured scrubs and sneaky linoleum floor you now took care of senior citizens in an adorable retirement home close to the beach.
For the first time in your life, you had learned to acknowledge the little thing, the tiny, minuscule happenings and surroundings. For the first time, you really felt the warm sun shining down on your face and you didn't mind that it made you sweat a little, no, you welcomed it because every minute thing now happened together with Gabriel.
Seeing him smile at you every day, softly waving at you from the shoreline, his legs knee-deep into the water, nearly had you sniffling and sobbing with all the love you felt for that once terribly sad and alone boy on Ward 4. He didn't deserve any of this…not being abandoned by his family and not being pushed into a system that didn't even treat him like a human being, but now, being with you in Belize, none of that even so much as touched him anymore.
After Gabe had ultimately been dismissed from the ward, all of his belongings cramped into an old suitcase and ready to practically jump on the plane, his brother did have the audacity to call you up quite a few times, cussing at you, threatening legal action and all that meaningless ramble but nothing ever came out of it. On one very peculiar occasion, where you had offered Gabe to answer the call, he had snapped at his brother in the most calm and precise way you'd ever witness.
"I'm finally happy now. Fuck off and never bother us again." Two short and sharply aimed statements before Gabe had hung up on his brother.
Ever since then, neither of you had been called or texted again and after the first, very exciting weeks of setting in, it grew more and more quiet and calm with you starting your job at the retirement home and Gabriel finally being in very frequent touch with the outside world. Frequent to a point where he started going on long walks at the beach, especially in the evenings, stargazing until his neck hurt, or taking excited trips to the local grocery stores and farmers markets.
Thinking about that had you smiling into the sun, your hand rummaging around in a striped linen bag to fish out an aluminum-wrapped set of sandwiches.
"The cheese from Belizie, huh?"

35, 56, 68 for the 30+ ask game
YAAAAY thank you for the ask :D
35. Aisle at the grocery store you never bother walking down?
The candy/sweets and chips/snacks aisles. I don't really snack throughout the day and don't like sweets that much, so those aisles are pointless for me to walk through.
56. Favorite low-effort meal that you make?
Beef bulgogi, hands down; no competition. It's super easy. The hardest part is waiting for your beef to finish marinading.
Here's the recipe if you're interested:
Ingredients 1 LBS beef (buy it pre-sliced or slice it yourself) 2.5 Tbsp soy sauce 2.5 Tbsp oyster sauce 2.5 Tbsp sugar 2.5 Tbsp granulated sugar 2.5 Tbsp mirin 2 Tbsp minced garlic 2 Tbsp sesame oil Combine sauces and seasonings in a bowl. Mix them together. Add beef to the bowl. Make sure your beef is completely covered in the marinade. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Place the bowl in the refrigerator and allow the beef to marinade for at least 30 minutes. (the longer, the better imo) Heat a pan (it doesnt matter what kind; both normal and nonstick pans work) to medium heat and add about a tablespoon of neutral oil (or coconut oil) to it. Cook the beef until it's done. If you have sliced your beef thinly (bulgogi style) it should maybe take about 10 minutes tops for the beef to cook If you don't have an Asian market by you that sells your beef sliced thinly, ask your butcher (or whoever is working the meat counter) to slice your beef into ⅛ inch (3.2 mm) thick slices... Or just cut the meat yourself. I just make rice in the rice cooker to go with it, but you should do whatever you feel like doing.
68. Are your garbage bags scented or unscented?
We normally buy unscented, but we recently started buying a bag size up from what we usually buy (20 Gal bags to 30 Gal) and our grocery store doesn't have 30 gallon garbage bags in anything other than scented. I've avoided scented bags in the past because their scent has always been obnoxiously strong, but these one's aren't. I guess garbage bag manufacturers realized that we just want odor neutralization--not a bag that smells like artificial flower smell and waste lol
Here's the list of questions for this prompt if you'd like to ask me something

A tropical thumbprint is a recipe I came up with. I called it a Hawaiian thumbprint for my marketing chunk of the project, but it's like a traditional jam thumbprint cookie but it has tropical flavors and is encrusted with coconut and freeze dried pineapple!
anyways, recipes;
Almond Spice Version 3 2 cups flour 1 tsp baking soda 3 tsp cornstarch 4 tsp almond extract 1 tsp salt 2 Tbsp cinnamon 2 Tbsp nutmeg ⅔ cups chopped almonds 1 cup butter ¾ cups brown sugar ½ cups granulated sugar 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 egg Preheat oven to 350°F Cream butter, sugar, and extracts. Add egg and stir to combine. Sift dry ingredients into the bowl mix to combine. fold in ⅓ cups chopped almonds, Roll dough into log press ⅓ cup of almonds into sides of dough log and wrap in parchment paper. Slice into 32 slices. Bake for 8-11 min
Hawaiian Thumbprint Cookies Version 3

@geniusdonkey
Tadano got surprised to be picked like that. The donkey felt also surprised as the other examined him, though he didn't mind, in fact, right now he only wanted to feel safe considering all he had to go through.
Tumblr media
"I met King K. Rool and he tried to kill me with his big gun thing... then this guy, a strange ape like called Dread took me away from the crazy croc but this guy was... ... eating pieces of Kongs... literally... it seemed like he killed other Kongs... I... felt he would kill me as well or something... It was so rare..." he explained nervously.
It wasn't like he wanted to find out Tadano had anything done to him...but he is definitely in the market for catching any minor scratch on the other's face, even if it was from grazing a prickle vine on his walk through the jungle. Because it would give DK the wherewithal to simply break the croc's jaw the next time their paths crossed - no formalities and name calling. Just straight up annhilAPEtion.
Puffing in both disappointment and relief when the donkey gets a clean bill of health, aside from being a little too sweaty, DK let's him slide off his palm until his feet are back safely on the ground. However, the other's next admission blindsides him, so much so that his fur all but flares up, and he leans in partially wrapping himself around the other like a shield as his gaze sits on a nervous swivel.
"That can't be right... Dread is-" A bit lip calms the quiver that threatens him as flashbacks to the night he and the Koopa king set upon the coconut crystal's host island. Bashed against a tree...hands laced with nostalgic menace moving from punched gut to an inquisitive spot on the prince's thigh-He shakes his head, meeting Tadano's gaze with something less furious than before in the wet browns of his eyes.
Tumblr media
"He's supposed to be imprisoned on one of our islands. You're saying he's here?! How could that even-" Then he steels himself hearing about what the donkey saw. If it really was Dread and not some ...other kind of Kong eater, then he'd truly gone unhinged.
"Look... it's not safe here. I'll walk you to the nearest warp pipe." No doubt Dad had to know about this- ...since he'd been gone. There was no way DK was about to risk time to go relay possibly old news. He had to find the threat and deal with him - immediately.

We made it to the festival! Sorry we're late. I brought a bunch of cookies, some for the humans and some for the Pokémon (if it's alright, I know you've told people to only feed them Pokéblocks but these are special made for them). Included are the recipes in case anyone wants!
Disclaimer: Both recipes include eggs. This does not refer to the fertilized eggs of any Pokémon. These are the unfertilized eggs of farm-breed flying types that can be found at your local market.
Freeze-and-bake Chocolate Chip Cookies
In the bowl of a stand mixer or with a hand mixer, whip together 2 cups of melted butter or coconut oil, two cups of white sugar, and two cups of brown sugar, until light and creamy. One at a time, add in four room temperature eggs and one tablespoon of vanilla extract, mix until combined. In a seperate bowl, or in a sifter set over the top of your working bowl, combine five cups of flour with two teaspoons of baking powder and gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Finally, fold in four cups of chocolate chips or other mix-ins. The dough will be thick and hard to stir. For the next part, I like to use an icecream scoop, but any spoon or just your hands coated in oil will work. Make balls (no need to make them round, just scoop and go) that are roughly 1/4 cup of dough each, and place them on a parchment lined cookie sheet. If freezing, place as many as you can without them touching, roughly twenty, cover with wrap, and freeze for at least four hours or until hard. Bake 6-12 cookies at a time in an oven preheated to 375°, 12 minutes for fresh dough or 15 for frozen.
Sunflora butter and Carrot Pokémon Treats
In the bowl of a stand mixer or with an electric mixer, beat together one and a half cups of mashed banana (about two), nanab berries, or apple sauce, with 1/4 of a cup of a simple ingredient Sunflora butter, and one egg. Mix in four cups of oat flour, one cup of freshly grated carrots, and half a cup of mixed seeds. The dough should come together but remain slightly tacky. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/2 inch (around one centimeter) thick and cut with your favorite cookie cutter. Bake in an oven preheated to 350° for 18 to 20 minutes until crispy.
[a picture of happy, splashing magikarp going to TOWN on the butter and carrot treats. a blurry, half-eating chocolate chip cookie is protruding into the frame.]

Ometepe Island: Tamales for Dinner
Georgi and I had carefully planned our time out so we could refill the bikes with gas and make it to the meeting point to give them back before the rest of the group arrived. All was going to plan, we filled them up with 100 cordobas in each tank and then drove through the forest to the exact point on the map that we had been told. It was very rural. The shack opposite where we stopped looked like it probably had no power or running water. The family sat outside staring at us, their chickens running around wildly behind their barbed wire fence - I joked that this would be the chicken we were eating for dinner and they'd make us catch and kill it. We waited and 10 minutes after the designated 3pm meeting time, the bike guys showed up to take them back. We were reluctant to let them take them as we were worried the group wouldn't come for us as then we'd be stranded but the main guy who could speak English took us on the back of them to a landmark down the road where he let me use his phone to call Dennis. The group was running late as per usual but directed us out to a treehouse where they picked us up and we got our deposit back. The guy tried to argue with us that we hadn't put enough gas in the bike so I argued that this bike had been replaced because one was broken and it had arrived with a half empty tank. I told him we put 100 cordobas in both bikes and showed him the receipt from the gas station. With all eyes on him, he gave us the deposit money back and then left us to go to our dinner. He'd ripped us off already for $20 because when Emily bailed she left the helmet at the hotel so he decided he was keeping $20. Later Emily made sure she brought the helmet with us only to abandon it later just so that slimy guy wouldn't end up getting it back!
We drove down the road (quite far away from where they'd told us to meet them) and arrived at Casa de Vicky. She introduced herself, her home and her ingredients for our dinner. We were each given some banana leaves and then could go about creating our own little tamale with a corn base, meat, vegetables, and a sprig of mint. They were wrapped up tightly and secured with dried banana skin rope. Each of us attached a colour ribbon to tell them apart and they were left to boil for an hour or two. Usually they'd cook for 48 hours but Vicky had precooked the ingredients so we could eat them quicker! While the tamales boiled we were taken to Punta Jesus Maria to walk around on the beach and watch the sunset. The fishermen were dragging in their nets to fill baskets upon baskets of fresh fish, presumably to cook up or sell the next day at market somewhere. Georgi and I were super hot and sweaty from our ride and wait in the humid forest for everyone to show up so we went for a quick dip in the lake! It was a nice cool off, but the sand was sticky and I didn't have flip flops so ended up a mess. We took photos of the sunset around the volcano and the lake and then finally headed back to Vicky's for our hotly anticipated tamales served up with bread and fresh coffee. They were absolutely delicious, so much better than the pupusas in El Salvador! We all could've easily eaten two or three tamales each but made do with what we had and then convinced Horacio and Dennis to take us for ice cream in Moyogalpa afterwards. They found a broken freezer with melted ice creams which some of the group bought but the rest of us headed down the street to the ice cream shop I'd seen earlier today. I was first in and ordered a double scoop of caramel and coconut for 40 cordobas (about $1.20) and the rest of the group followed suit. We rode back to our little chalets for a shower and bed, ready to wake up early again tomorrow for the ride to San Juan del Sur.

How to Make Five-Color Sticky Rice from Rice | Go to Market, Cook, and G...
Ingredients
Sticky Rice: 2 cups (glutinous rice)
Food Coloring: Red, green, yellow, purple, and blue (gel or liquid)
**Cocoon
Sugar: 1 cup
Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
Banana Leaves or Parchment Paper: For wrapping (optional)
Sesame Seeds or Shredded Coconut: For garnish (optional)
Shopping List:
Sticky Rice: Available at Asian grocery stores or in the international section of major supermarkets.
Food Coloring: Choose gel or liquid food coloring based on preference.
Coconut Milk: Look for full-fat coconut milk for a richer flavor.
Sugar and Salt: Common pantry staples.
Banana Leaves or Parchment Paper: Banana leaves can often be found at Asian markets; parchment paper is available at any grocery store.
Instructions:
Prepare the Sticky Rice:
Rinse 2 cups of sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming too sticky.
Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.
Prepare the Colors:
Divide the soaked rice into five equal portions.
In separate bowls, add a few drops of different food coloring to each portion of rice. Mix thoroughly until the rice is evenly colored. You can use more or less food coloring to achieve your desired intensity.
Steam the Rice:
Line a steamer basket with banana leaves or parchment paper to prevent sticking.
Steam each color of rice separately. Place each colored rice in the steamer, spreading it out evenly. Steam for about 20-25 minutes or until the rice is tender. Repeat for all colors.
Prepare the Coconut Mixture:
In a saucepan, combine 1 can of coconut milk with 1 cup of sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is completely dissolved. Do not boil.
Assemble the Sticky Rice:
Once all the rice is cooked and the coconut mixture is ready, start assembling the five-color sticky rice.
Place a layer of one color of rice in a serving dish, then pour a little coconut mixture over it. Repeat this process, layering different colors of rice and coconut mixture, until all rice is used.
Garnish and Serve:
Garnish with sesame seeds or shredded coconut if desired.
Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy the colorful layers and the sweet, creamy flavor.
Tips:
Ensure that the rice is evenly colored and well-steamed for the best texture and appearance.
You can experiment with different color combinations and amounts of food coloring to create your unique version.

Vegan Cheese Market Analysis: Global Industry Trends and Forecast (2023-2032)
Tumblr media
The Global Vegan Cheese Market is projected to grow from USD 3467 million in 2024 to USD 6807.45 million by 2032, expanding at a CAGR of 8.8% from 2024 to 2032.
Vegan cheese has emerged as a popular alternative to traditional dairy cheese, catering to the growing demand for plant-based and cruelty-free food options. This rise in popularity is largely driven by increasing awareness of the environmental and ethical concerns associated with animal agriculture, as well as the health benefits of a plant-based diet.
Vegan cheese is made from a variety of plant-based ingredients, including nuts (such as cashews and almonds), soy, coconut oil, and root vegetables like potatoes and carrots, which are often combined with nutritional yeast and other flavorings to mimic the taste and texture of dairy cheese. The development of vegan cheese has seen significant innovation, with manufacturers striving to improve its flavor, texture, and melting properties to appeal to both vegans and non-vegans alike. The market has expanded to include a wide range of vegan cheese varieties, from cheddar and mozzarella to brie and blue cheese, offering consumers diverse options for cooking, snacking, and entertaining.
This growing variety and improved quality have made vegan cheese more accessible and appealing to a broader audience, including those with lactose intolerance, dairy allergies, or simply a preference for plant-based foods. Additionally, the vegan cheese market has benefited from the broader trend towards plant-based eating, as more consumers seek to reduce their meat and dairy consumption for health, ethical, or environmental reasons.
Vegan cheese can be used in a variety of ways, much like traditional dairy cheese. Here are some common uses:
Pizza Topping: Vegan cheese, particularly mozzarella-style varieties, is widely used as a topping for pizzas. It melts and stretches, making it a perfect substitute for traditional cheese on pizzas.
Sandwiches and Wraps: Slices of vegan cheese can be added to sandwiches, wraps, or burgers for a cheesy flavor and texture. It can also be melted in a panini press for a warm, gooey effect.
Pasta Dishes: Vegan cheese can be used in pasta dishes, such as mac and cheese, lasagna, or baked ziti. It can be melted into sauces or used as a topping to create a rich, creamy texture.
Salads: Vegan cheese crumbles, such as feta or blue cheese alternatives, can be sprinkled over salads to add flavor and texture.
Cheese Boards and Snacks: Vegan cheese is perfect for creating plant-based cheese boards, paired with crackers, fruits, nuts, and spreads. It also makes a great snack on its own or with accompaniments like olives or pickles.
Baking and Cooking: Vegan cheese can be used in a variety of baked dishes, such as quiches, casseroles, or stuffed vegetables, adding a creamy and savory element to the dish.
Dips and Sauces: Vegan cheese can be blended into dips and sauces, like queso, fondue, or cheese sauce for nachos, providing a dairy-free alternative that’s rich and flavorful.
Grilled Cheese Sandwiches: Vegan cheese slices or shreds can be used to make classic grilled cheese sandwiches, offering a plant-based twist on this comfort food favorite.
Tacos and Burritos: Shredded vegan cheese can be added to tacos, burritos, quesadillas, or enchiladas, giving these dishes a cheesy flavor without the dairy.
Burgers: Vegan cheese slices are a popular addition to plant-based or traditional veggie burgers, melting over the patty to enhance the overall flavor and texture.
These versatile uses make vegan cheese a valuable ingredient in a wide range of dishes, catering to those following plant-based diets, as well as anyone looking to reduce their dairy intake.

The vegan cheese market is rapidly growing, driven by increasing consumer demand for plant-based and dairy-free alternatives. This growth has led to a competitive landscape where both established food companies and emerging startups are vying for market share. Here’s a competitive analysis of the vegan cheese market:
1. Product Innovation and Differentiation
Flavor and Texture Improvement: Companies are heavily investing in R&D to improve the flavor and texture of vegan cheeses, making them more appealing to non-vegan consumers. Innovations in fermentation and aging processes, as well as the use of different base ingredients like cashews, almonds, and oats, are helping brands stand out.
Clean Label and Organic Products: There is a growing consumer preference for clean label products with minimal ingredients and no artificial additives. Brands that can offer organic and non-GMO certified products, such as Miyoko’s Creamery, are leveraging this trend to differentiate themselves.
Specialty and Artisanal Offerings: Some brands are focusing on artisanal vegan cheeses, offering aged and cultured products that appeal to gourmet consumers. This niche market is growing, particularly among consumers looking for premium, high-quality vegan options.
4. Market Strategies
Strategic Partnerships and Distribution: Major players are expanding their market reach through strategic partnerships with retailers, foodservice providers, and restaurants. For example, Violife’s collaboration with major fast-food chains has significantly increased their visibility and market penetration.
Marketing and Brand Positioning: Companies are increasingly using social media, influencer marketing, and collaborations with plant-based advocates to build brand awareness and loyalty. Brands like Miyoko’s Creamery have successfully used storytelling and ethical branding to connect with their target audience.

As more consumers become aware of the environmental impact of animal agriculture, they are increasingly turning to plant-based alternatives.

Influencers, food bloggers, and celebrities endorsing vegan diets and products have a strong impact on consumer behavior, driving awareness and demand.

Increasing awareness of plant-based diets, rising disposable incomes, and urbanization are contributing to the expansion of the vegan cheese market in these regions.
Localization of Flavors: Companies are developing region-specific vegan cheese flavors and formulations to cater to local tastes and preferences, further driving market adoption in diverse global markets.
8. Clean Label and Minimal Processing

Venture capital firms and large food companies are investing in or acquiring vegan cheese brands, leading to increased research and development, product innovation, and market expansion.

Food is not just sustenance—it's an art form and a cultural statement that speaks volumes about the people who make and enjoy it. Explore the world through a food lover’s guide that takes you from the intricate flavors of Asian street markets to the comforting hearths of European kitchens.
Thailand: Street Food Extravaganza
Thai cuisine tantalizes the taste buds with its sour, sweet, salty, and spicy flavors. Bangkok's street food scene is unmatched, from fiery papaya salad (som tum) to the ubiquitous pad thai. In the north, khao soi, a coconut milk-based curry soup with crispy noodles, represents Chiang Mai's heritage. Green, red, and massaman curry vary in flavor, but each boasts a signature blend of spices. Remember sticky rice with mango for dessert.
India: Spices and Diversity
India’s diverse regional cuisines present a whirlwind of flavors. The aromatic spices of biryani and tandoori dishes reflect Mughal influences in the north. In the south, dosas (crispy rice crepes) and sambar (lentil stew) are everyday staples. West Bengal’s fish curries boast mustard and coconut flavors, while Gujarat's vegetarian dishes are distinct with sweet-savory combinations. Enjoy chaat (street snacks) like pani puri, a crisp sphere filled with spicy water, and end on a sweet note with kulfi.
France: Artistry and Technique
French cuisine celebrates artistry, with regional specialties that have become global classics. Paris is synonymous with croissants and baguettes, while Lyon is known for its bouchons, which serve coq au vin and quenelles. Cassoulet, a slow-cooked bean stew, embodies the hearty cuisine of the Southwest. In Alsace, choucroute garnie (sauerkraut with meats) reflects German influences. Savor delicate pastries like mille-feuille or a rich crème brûlée, and pair your meal with world-renowned French wines.
Italy: Simplicity and Tradition
Italian cuisine revolves around high-quality ingredients and traditional techniques. In Rome, savor carbonara with pecorino and guanciale. In the north, the rice-growing regions are known for risotto alla Milanese, while in the south, Naples is famed for its Neapolitan pizza. Fresh seafood dishes like spaghetti alle vongole reflect Italy’s coastline. Enjoy tiramisu or cannoli for dessert, and finish with a shot of espresso or a glass of limoncello.
Spain: Festive and Flavorful
Spanish cuisine is best enjoyed as a communal feast. Tapas, ranging from patatas bravas to gambas al ajillo, allow diners to sample many flavors in one meal. In Andalusia, gazpacho provides a refreshing reprieve, while the Basque region’s pintxos elevate snacking to an art form. Paella, whether seafood or meat-based, is a Valencian treasure. Finish with churros dipped in chocolate or crema catalana.
Mexico: Layers of Flavor
Mexican cuisine is a layered tapestry of indigenous and colonial influences. Tacos served with al pastor or carnitas, are a street food staple, while mole sauce (made from chocolate, spices, and chiles) transforms any dish. Savor tamales wrapped in corn husks or enchiladas drenched in salsa verde. In Oaxaca, sample tlayudas, a large, crisp tortilla topped with beans and cheese. Wash it all down with horchata or an agave-based mezcal.
Peru: Coastal and Highland Splendor
Peruvian cuisine showcases its rich geography. Ceviche is a bright blend of citrus, fish, and chili along the coast. Hearty stews like aji de gallina (creamy chicken) and papas a la huancaína (potatoes in a spicy cheese sauce) are comforting in the highlands. Pachamanca, an ancient Incan technique, involves cooking meat underground with hot stones. Quinoa and native potatoes are heavily featured, while pisco sour remains the national cocktail.
Brazil: Regional Abundance
Brazil's food varies significantly across regions. In the northeast, the Afro-Brazilian influences of acarajé (black-eyed pea fritters) and moqueca (fish stew) reign. In the south, churrasco (barbecue) includes various cuts of beef cooked over open flames. The national dish, feijoada, is a black bean stew with pork, while pão de queijo (cheese bread) is a cheesy snack. Pair your meal with a caipirinha made with cachaça.
Turkey: Ancient and Modern
Turkish cuisine bridges continents and traditions. Start with meze like hummus, baba ghanoush, and dolma (stuffed grape leaves)—kebabs, whether shish or doner, are grilled to perfection. The palace cuisine of the Ottoman era comes alive with dishes like hünkar beğendi (lamb over eggplant puree) and pilav. Sample baklava or künefe (cheese pastry soaked in syrup) with a cup of strong Turkish coffee for dessert.
Lebanon: Mezze and More
Lebanese food is colorful and generous. Mezze, a spread of small dishes like tabbouleh, labneh, and muhammara (spicy walnut dip), invites sharing. Kibbeh (ground meat with bulgur), manakish (za'atar flatbread), and shawarma provide savory satisfaction. Grilled meats and seafood continue the feast, ending with knafeh (cheese pastry) and baklava.
Iran: Saffron and Tradition
Iranian cuisine is traditional and marked by saffron, rosewater, and pomegranate. Rice is integral, whether tahdig (crispy rice) or jeweled rice with fruits and nuts. Fesenjan, a rich pomegranate and walnut stew, pairs well with chicken. Ghormeh sabzi, a herb stew, exemplifies balance. Cool off with a Persian cucumber salad or sharbat (floral syrup drink).
Morocco: Fragrant and Flavorful
Moroccan cuisine fills the senses with its fragrant spices and communal spirit. Tagine simmered in a conical pot features meats and vegetables with olives and preserved lemon. Couscous often served with seven vegetables, is a Friday family tradition. Pastilla, a flaky pastry filled with pigeon, chicken, and almonds, melds savory and sweet. For dessert, try chakra or spend (Moroccan doughnuts).
Ethiopia: Communal and Hearty
Ethiopian cuisine centers around injera, a sourdough flatbread made from teff flour. Wat (stew) is placed atop the injera, with dishes like doro wat (spicy chicken stew) or shiro (chickpea). The communal nature of Ethiopian dining encourages sharing from one large platter. The meal ends with a traditional coffee ceremony, highlighting the importance of hospitality.
South Africa: Rainbow Cuisine
South African cuisine blends indigenous, colonial, and immigrant influences. Bobotie, a Cape Malay curried meat dish topped with egg custard, is iconic. Biltong, dried and cured meat, and boerewors, a spiced sausage, highlight the country's love for meat. Potjiekos (stew cooked in a cast-iron pot) reflects Dutch heritage. For dessert, try malva pudding with a glass of South African wine.
Culinary journeys provide a deeper understanding of the world’s cultures and traditions, highlighting the stories behind every ingredient and recipe. Whether you prefer spicy, sweet, or savory, there's a dish out there waiting to tantalize your taste buds and transport you to another place. An Adventure in Ilocos: From History to Beaches
The journey began in Vigan City, a place where history comes alive in every cobblestone street and ancient facade. Walking through Calle Crisologo felt like stepping into a time machine. The Spanish-era architecture, horse-drawn carriages, and traditional shops created a unique blend of the past and present. As I passed the Syquia Mansion and the Vigan Cathedral, I could almost hear the echoes of a bygone era.
My next stop was the majestic Paoay Church, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its massive buttresses. The church's stone walls and intricate designs were a testament to the craftsmanship of the past. The view was breathtaking, and I spent a moment soaking in the history.
The journey continued north to Bangui, where the towering windmills stood tall against the azure sky. The sight of these massive structures along the coastline was awe-inspiring. Not only did they provide renewable energy, but they also symbolized progress and innovation.
From there, I headed to Pagudpud, the "Boracay of the North". The white sandy beaches and crystal-clear waters were a dream come true for any beach lover. I stayed at Casa Consuelo Island Reef, a quaint beachfront resort that offered the perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. I spent my days swimming, snorkeling, and exploring the sorrounding areas.
A trip to Ilocos wouldn't be complete without visiting the Cape Bojeador Lighthouse in Burgos. The climb to the top was worth it, with panoramic views of the West Philippine Sea. It was a moment of pure serenity, with the sound of waves crashing against the cliff below.
On my last day, I decided to embrace my adventurous side at the La Paz Sand Dunes. Riding a 4x4 across the dunes and trying sandboarding was an adrenaline rush like no other. It was the perfect way to end my journey in the area.
Throughout my adventure, I tasted some of the best Ilocano cuisine. Bagnet- a deep fried pork dish with it's crispy exterior and tender interior, became an instant favorite. The Vigan-style empanada, filled with meat and vegetables often served with vinegar, was a delightful snack. I also enjoyed longganisa, the traditional garlic rice and pinakbet a mixed vegetable dish with shrimp paste.
The Ilocos Region is known for its unique and delicious sweets that reflect the rich culinary heritage of the area. Here's an overview of some popular Ilocano sweets: 1. Binagkal- is a type of deep-fried sesame-coated rice cake. It's crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, with a hint of sweetness, it is often enjoyed with coffee or tea, 2. Bibingka-is a traditional Filipino rice cake made with glutinous rice, coconut milk, sugar, and other ingredients. It is often cooked in clay pots lined with banana leaves, giving it a distint flavor and aroma. It is a popular treat during special occasions and holidays especially during Christmas, 3. Patopat- is a sticky rice dessert wrapped in banana leaves or palm leaves. It's made from glutinous rice mixed with cocunt milk and sugar, giving it a sweet and rich flavor. Patopat is often enjoyed during fiestas and family gatherings. My relatives made patopat incredibly delicious 4. Chichacorn-is a crunchy snack made from deep corn kernels and it comes in various flavors like garlic, cheese and barbecue. It is an addictive snack that's perfect for munching on the go or sharing with friends.
These sweets are just a glimpse of the delicious treats you can find in the area. Try these sweets on your next visit to the Ilocos Region or find them in Filipino markets and stores to bring a taste of Ilocano culture to your home.
As I packed my bags to leave, I realized that the Region had given me more than just an adventure- It had given me a deeper appreciation for Filipino culture, and proud of the history and the indomitable spirit of the people. This journey was just the beginning.
Thank you for reading! Until next time, salamat and see you soon!

Curry Time, 1280 N Lake Ave, Pasadena, CA 91104
Tumblr media
This is the third branch of Curry Time, an Indian fast food restaurant. If you want a combo plate, the food is already cooked and kept warm on the steam tray. But they also cook dishes to order – including wraps, biryani, pakora, chana bhatura, tandoori, etc. And they have several desserts and beverages (e.g., lassi, chai). Combination plates start at $11.99 (one item, no naan) with six meat dishes and six veggie dishes from which to choose. They even had goat curry, but it looked like it had a lot of bones.
Two item combination served with rice and plain naan ($13.99): It was a good amount of food. I had leftovers. The chicken kadai had larger pieces of boneless, skinless chicken, bell peppers, and onions in a medium spicy sauce. The chicken was tender. The sauce wasn’t thick and didn’t have coconut. It wasn’t that spicy but I liked that it wasn’t too salty. The palak paneer (pureed spinach with paneer) had softer, smaller cubes of paneer and also wasn’t too salty. I liked how it was a bit spicy (hot spicy and interesting blend of spices). The basmati rice wasn’t mushy and had some peas and carrots. The naan wasn’t good though – it was a bit doughy and greasy.
The food was fine but it was a bit more expensive than I expected. Punjab Market has a better combo plate for less. Order at the counter.
The décor was interesting – with the Indian music, Indian videos, and no frills feel, it felt like being in India. Yes, I have been to India.
