listen i love them a lot as they are but that thing about ja’marr trying to have the same sort of relationship with tee that he had with justin really does it for me. the idea that ja’marr looked at tee not as himself, but as someone else, and eventually realizes he likes tee for tee… yea. hard to explain. i love them outside of that though too they’re so fun when they’re mic’d up

this one is so complicated to me but i love them dearly. i love the codependent competitive college escapades but i also love the drifting apart naturally and finding each other again a little later in life (not like. after retirement. but maybe) when they’re both a little more mature and know themselves and have created identities outside of each others’ shadows (the way everyone always aggressively compares them… 😵‍💫)

#so like what went wrong???#jessie and dj were for sure talented and disciplined #but did them leaving take ALL of that out of the room for everyone else??#maybe defensive coaching has gone down hill?#i'd still say i'm for keeping lou because he DOES come up with effective schemes #we still held mahomes to the fewest yards this year #and until that very last run yesterday we were doing a good job stopping derrick henry #lou knows HOW to do it #he just doesn't seem to have the guys who can execute anymore for whatever reason #maybe the key is hiring new position coaches on defense?#and certainly bringing in new talent via FA and the draft #and again all these defensive guys we have HAVE flashed and shown really good stuff #it's just consistency!#i have no idea exactly what sans is describing here #but logan and germaine have no excuse to fuck up like that #crazy! crazy!!! what a waste!!!

Thinking about the Ted Lasso finale again and how I feel like it does pretty much land everyone at a satisfying place, just occasionally fumbles getting them there.

And I was thinking specifically about Beard, and how, if we ignore the Jane of it all, Beard and Ted separating IS such a great place for Beard to end the show because of what we learn in Mom City and how it puts so much about Beard into new context.

Beard basically lost all of his relationships when he went to prison. When he got out, he went to Ted because he remembered Ted as a nice guy who he'd had a good relationship with for a time, (and frankly, possibly because he thought he could take advantage of that kindness) and when Ted helped him more than he ever expected, it seems that Beard just stuck with him from that point on. Ted was Beard's ONLY person, and while their friendship is so sweet and wonderful, I think it is so important for Beard to end the series at a point where he feels safe choosing to go a different direction from Ted. He has friends now, a job he's very good at, a community (and, yes, unfortunately, an incredibly toxic relationship that the show can't ever make up it's mind on whether it's a good or bad thing).

In the finale, Beard wants to go with Ted because he's been following him ever since Ted vouched for him with the police, but he wants to stay more because he's finally found connections outside of Ted. And as right of a choice it was for Ted to go home to his son, it's as much of a right choice for Beard to stay in England, a place where he can start anew.

(The problem is that it gets framed as being only about Jane and relationship we don't support. But like SO MUCH about s3, when I actually look at it it WORKS so well for his character, it feels so right post-Mom City's reveal, it just gets messy in the framing/execution. s3 to a T.)

(anyways, I was specifically thinking about Beard because of how many post-canon fics I've read that just casually retcons it so Beard went back with Ted, and I'm like....I don't actually think that's best for him, I think he found a lot more of a life in London than he'd had in America)

#ted lasso #coach beard #so much of the problem of a lot of the choices in s3 isn't necessarily the choice made for the character but the like framing of why or #the execution of the writing and how inconsistently carried through the storylines and themes are #like s3 isn't bad and the ideas aren't bad #it's just kind of a jumbled mess that wants to focus on too much all over the place and so very little feels consisetently well handled #like on the one hand 3 seasons is the perfect arc for the team and therefore the show #but on the other hand they needed to stretch s3 out to like 2 seasons to better handle everything they wanted to include #we're just pulled too thin and so in some way basically every character ends up not getting enough

One day I’m gonna finally draw the scene from my one piece hockey au that’s been plaguing me for months…One day…

#it started from a joke with my friend but now I have a whole thing #it’s not fully done yet but I’ve got a portion of it figured out #this au will be centred around basically the paramount war but like. hockey. the focal point being ace’s death #WHICH in this au is just a horrible career ending injury (still from akainu ofc)#luffy still gets injured as well. Is out for a while and when he comes back or like around that time he gets traded #OR requests a trade to the strawhats (I’m thinking the Raftel Strawhats but idk if that name is good??)#and then it’s like his journey to the Stanley cup from there #I have whole like backstories for everyone and like some characters like garp or whitebeard will be retired players #who are still involved somehow. like whitebeard is a coach for ace and luffy’s team (they’re on the same team during/pre paramount war)#and I’ll get garp involved with the navy team somehow too. maybe as a trainer or something #‘cause I still want that relationship between him coby and helemenpo (whose visor will be tinted btw. in place of his blindfold)#roger ofc is still dead but he dies of his illness. like I can’t fit an execution into a hockey au if I want some realism #I have how sabo comes back and how he ties into dragon and everything and I also have a reason why dragon leaves garp #like it’s a whole thing #brook is a retired player whose now the DJ for the strawhats’ arena btw. and laboon is his son #his captain is still dead from disease (also was a player. like still his captian) laboon has a similar or same disease #and that’s how the doctor ties into it as well (he’s also still the one who treated roger)#brook and his captain had something btw. like laboon is their child. it’s very tragic still #keeping as much of the tragic backstory part of the characters as I can #I still have so much like in my head. #every year this fanbase takes one aspect of the way we play that’s problematic and runs it into the ground #and this time it’s the set pieces thing despite the fact that gianni vio worked on OFFENSIVE set pieces and left the defensive set pieces #up to other coaches bc there’s only so much you can DO about defending set pieces.#at some point you put in a strategy zonal or man to man and then you execute it #you don’t need a coach to tell the players to mark their man or the far post #losing kane was detrimental to this bc he defended a lot of our set pieces #and vdv is surprisingly not very good in the air #besides we didn’t concede a set piece till the city fa cup game #where they started ganging up on vic leading to us changing our defensive set piece strategy #pgmol’s said that they’re going to crack down on that we’ll see #anyway ppl saying that this will be the reason ange will be sacked 😭 pls let’s move on man #besides we have new coaching staff lmao

For any of my ADHD people out there: look up Hayley Honeyman on YouTube. I cannot stress enough how helpful her body doubling work streams are for me! She sets these 25 min timers, and there are breaks in between, and there's lofi music...

It's really nice! And it helps me so much to stay on task and to actually do tasks I don't necessarily want to do.

I think the fundamental part of growing up re: Anne of Green Gables is that Gilbert Blythe is such a good idea but Lucy Maude didn’t spend enough time on him to make him a fully real person.

#I love him in the first book #and I think there are real flashes! But she kind of won’t … give you any more of him #and listen. It’s complicated because I LOVED them so much growing up and I think genuinely their romance taught me a lot about life and lov #the idea of it is so right and good #but in this case the tv series is better I think because he’s more of a real person #Lucy Maud was (imo) a little scared of men and romance #and her execution of Gilbert is that she forgot to give him enough to be his own person #like she just didn’t put in the work #the readers of Anne of green gables did!! And they’re so valid for that #Like I have this whole meta I wrote about him once and it is honestly such a good meta and I think it gets to the heart of the idea #but the execution just isn’t there. Especially with time #She was deeply uninterested in doing any underground work for his character so he isn’t terribly real #you know who made me realize this? Coach Taylor lol #well. Coach Taylor and Emma #And listen it’s not like Gilbert is actually evil. He is NOT and what is there is good! But it isn’t technically artistically enough #for it to endure #idk I’m not explaining it well also I feel mean even saying it #But I feel like I’m allowed to because I DID love them so much and they were so important to me #and their love story gets something so right!!!!!! The shape is so good!!!!! I still got all of that #it’s just imo one of her limitations #like she had all the right instincts to make Anne’s partner his own person #Someone who sometimes pushes back #But #idk because like. I can still do all the work of it and fill in all those spaces and I want to #the romance in Anne of the island still has me in a chokehold!!!!!!#I LOVE pining Gilbert and the flashes there. because it almost disguises the lack of substance. But yeah it’s not what it looks like #Idk I might delete but #I just wanted to share
