"There's been a Nightbeast spotted--"

"For all the Stars and Hearthfire," Cloudheart swore, loud enough to draw most of DuskClan's attention. Furledstar winced as even Mothpuddle poked her head from the healer's ledge to gawk at the commotion. "There's always Nightbeasts, Furledstar. Or did ya forget about that since last summer?"

"No, but--"

"But nothing," the elder interrupted.

Maplesong rested a tail on Cloudheart's pale shoulder. "He only means to help," the dark tabby elder said. She had the kind of voice that naturally made cats want to be quiet and listen, soothing and melodic. "He wants to keep his Clanmate safe."

For all that Maplesong was trying to help, Furledstar struggled to keep his hackles from bristling as his mother spoke for him. As if he wasn't standing a tail-length away.

As if he wasn't DuskClan's leader.

The silver tomcat had to bite his tongue and bear it, though, because if anyone had a chance of talking any sense into Cloudheart, it would be Maplesong. If his goal was to keep Cloudheart safe--and it was--then logically, he should keep quiet and let his mother handle the Clan's eldest member.

Except: "I didn't think I was a prisoner of my own Clan!" Cloudheart spat.

Furledstar couldn't hold back a small growl, the fur on his shoulders bristling. He nearly snapped a sharp response, but Mothpuddle of all cats beat him to it. When had she gotten here? "Acting against the leader's orders is against the Code, Cloudheart," the golden-furred healer said, her voice cold. "Retirement does not mean you can ignore the Code with a wave of your tail."

Cloudheart narrowed her yellow eyes, still sharp despite the molly's age. "I heard no orders."

"Because you kept interrupting him!" Mothpuddle hissed back. "If you'd let Furledstar speak, then--" Furledstar stepped between the two, cutting the healer off before she could say something she would later regret. Though, knowing Mothpuddle, he doubted she'd regret anything she said here, no matter how harsh.

"Stop," he said firmly, looking sharply between the two until both took a step away. Cloudheart waddling back to Maplesong's side, Mothpuddle stepping back more gracefully, but also more reluctantly. "Mothpuddle, this doesn't concern you." He could sense the healer opening her mouth to argue and Furledstar turned his back on her so she wouldn't have the opportunity, a clear dismissal.

He didn't check to see if she actually left: he found that if he expected a cat to follow his orders with enough confidence, they typically would acquiesce.

Which still left him with his current problem. Cloudheart stood solidly, her eyes narrowed and shoulders set, challenging him to order her to stay in camp. The silence dragged as he weighed his choices. If he ordered her to stay, she'd be safe, but she'd also throw a tantrum and he'd probably have several warriors lined up at his den to complain about it by Starfall. If he let her go, however, she'd know that making a scene would get her what she wants. This wouldn't be the last time they'd be having this argument if he caved to her demands.

"I'll go with her," Maplesong said. "And we'll take Boragebud along with us. If we stick to the Dusklands, we'll be safe enough."

"That's what I said!" Cloudheart huffed.

Furledstar sighed, but he knew it was the best compromise he was going to get. "Fine," he said, just to get this over with. He turned away, his tail flicking sharply behind him. He'd taken too long to make a choice and now Maplesong would think that he needed her to solve all his problems. He'd thought he'd gotten out from under his mother's paw when he was made a leader, then again when she retired.

He held his poise until he stepped through the thin waterfall that hid the leader's den. Once he was well out of sight did he let his frustration explode outward, ripping his nest to shreds, only stopping when the moss was scattered so completely that his claws scraped stone.

The silver tabby leader's breaths heaved as he stood in the middle of the mess. He wanted to screech but though the waterfall's burble could be trusted to drown out regular conversation, he knew anything louder than that would carry to DuskClan's camp beyond. So he stood in silence until his rage burnt itself to its root: shame.

i guess there's no sense in delaying this now that the studio seems to have gone bankrupt, rip the last two episodes that never made it out 😔

the start of sasakoi was really charming to me, i remember enjoying the first episode a whole lot. yori and himari had a really adorable dynamic that was a ton of fun to see unfold in their earliest interactions

i did not... initially... care for the love triangle drama that cropped up fairly quickly, though i think i eventually came around to the side characters. like they weren't entirely uninteresting, but iirc i was just wanting more of a focus on cute moments with the main girls

basically things got real messy, which isn't necessarily a bad or uncompelling thing, just was not totally my thing

production issues became increasingly obvious as the series went on, to the point that the last episodes being indefinitely delayed (and now probably forever unfinished) did not surprise me at all. it was never so bad that i felt like dropping it, but i get a pretty strong sense that this in no way did the manga justice

maybe i'll check out the manga one day but this being a band story... man. it's just a bummer that the anime didn't pan out, because it's just so nice to hear stories about bands, about music, out loud. to actually hear the music! but alas

So I did a ClanGen sometime last year, and only just finished drawing the last 3 months/end of year picture recently. And ofc while I was working on that I also lost my files to an update so I only had this clan for one year.

Sweetstone definitely ended up being my favorite lil lad. He had the best storyline of anyone. And I'm a little relieved that I didn't get to play more so that everyone was still alive.

I think the most depressing thing about Whisper Me a Love Song's production meltdown is how not even low-effort anime is safe anymore.

Like, say what you will about the infamous delayed productions we've had in the past- Wonder Egg Priority, 86 Eighty-Six, Gundam Witch, Zom 100- at least all those shows were grand undertakings. They were big, showy works of art with complex animation and ambitious direction that demanded a massive amount of effort to meet their creators' vision. And while that doesn't excuse the awful scheduling that led to them all needing delays, you can at least understand how a show that required such consistently top-tier visuals might need to slow down and take a break for the sake of maintaining that standard of quality. But Sasakoi? Even back when it was still functional at the start of this season, that's all it was: functional. It was a modest adaptation without too much flair, banking on the strength of its source material and smart direction to get away with not needing to animate too much beyond the concert scenes. And even that was too much for Cloudhearts to keep from falling apart. This industry is a fucking garbage fire.

Greyspots - The liveliest of the three, he will usually get the other two into trouble. He is also the most responsible however, always taking responsibility for the group and giving Jackdawfur moral lessons as if they weren't the same age.

Jackdawfur - She couldn't ask for a lazier, more boring suffix than that, she just hates how she was named, so she just uses Jackdaw. She's the tough one in the group, always picking fights, her siblings are always there to cheer her on.

Non-Humanity

Guys I'm lowkey pretty sure I am a nonhuman of some kind. Like. ConceptKin- maybe??? My form is very... fluid. Like liquidy, but not actual liquid just in a constant flux.

Not sure. (even in my dreams I do not keep the same form. I have had blonde, black, brown, auburn and deep slate colored hair. I have had wings, whether that be through actual wings, prosthetics, or a wing-belt. Even now, trying to narrow down a kintype feels so wholly wrong.

SO I think I am a fluidform (or a shapeshifter). But PlantHearted all the way. And probably CloudHearted... maybe AirHearted, actually since that is my feeling of Home.

Doctrines: 8 (New: Inspire, i don't have the heart for intimidate)

On patrol, Ewestar rescued a cat from Spindle (Helob), a notorious panther who often kidnaps cats. The newcomer took up the name Midnightwatcher, and returned to camp as Ewestar went to save the last Anoleclan prisoner. The prisoner was not as easy to save as previous prisoners, and Ewestar did nearly lose a life. Nevertheless, Cloudheart (Zepar) was saved.

Cloudheart's first request upon joining Rockclan was for Ewestar to take in an elderly loner, Hummingbird, who had been living nearby. Ewestar obliged, and granted Hummingbirdflip her warrior name in the process.

After a clan meeting to celebrate the clan's continued survival, Ewestar went to the memorial of Leechstar (Leshy), final leader of Dingoclan (Darkwood), that they had built. It wasn't anything huge, just a grassy stone.

Following that, they instructed their clan to install the final reinforcements to their camp. (Unlocked the final cult upgrade)

Close to the end of the moon, the final new member for now joined - Tetrafin, a straggler formerly from Anoleclan. Ve was welcomed with open arms.

Shortly after, Hornetscale requested to sacrifice himself to the woods, for the greater good of Rockclan. The whole clan would miss him, and Grassgust volunteered to be the one who escorted him to the edge. The vigil that night was long and painful.
