Surgical procedures are being performed worldwide at an increasing rate. This trend highlights both the advancements in medical science and the rising elderly population globally.
This article focuses on the sternal closure system, a crucial tool in cardiothoracic surgeries. To understand its significance, it is essential to know what a sternal closure system is. It is a medical device that ensures firm internal fixation of the sternum following a sternotomy, using various plates designed to suit anatomical structures and specific clinical needs.
Advancements in Technology and Sternal Closure Systems
Technological advancements have significantly improved sternal closure systems, which are now in higher demand. Median sternotomy incisions, widely used in cardiothoracic and cardiopulmonary surgeries, have been further enhanced by breakthroughs in surgical techniques over the past decade. Traditional methods for closing the sternum, which often involved thick sutures, posed a higher risk of infection. However, modern tools and techniques have drastically reduced this risk.
Medical devices made from stainless steel and titanium offer several benefits, including reduced discomfort and a lower risk of complications like sternal wound infections, mediastinitis, and sternal dehiscence.
Most Common Surgery Using Sternal Closure Systems
The most common procedure that uses sternal closure systems is median sternotomy. This procedure provides easy access to the lungs, heart, and surrounding structures during coronary artery bypass and heart valve replacement surgeries. It is one of the most frequently performed osteotomies worldwide.
Using a sternal closure system in these surgeries minimizes risks such as hardware complications, osseous issues like migration or wire rotation, and postoperative infections. The incision also allows access to both pleural spaces, making it useful for other thoracic surgeries, including esophagectomies and retrosternal goiter treatments.
The demand for median sternotomy procedures is expected to grow due to the rising elderly population, which is more prone to heart conditions. Additionally, with increasing financial support for life-saving cardiac surgeries, the demand for sternal closure systems is projected to rise.
Conclusion
With the global increase in the elderly population and the rising need for stent placements, the demand for sternal closure systems is set to grow significantly. The market value of these systems is expected to reach USD 3,323.4 million by the end of this decade.

See the further irony is:
That in using 'Mall Goth Sauron' as the take on Dark Willow over 'misogynist has character randomly killed for LULZ' it also allows for greater accountability on the one hand and for Season 7 to thematically focus on repairing all this damage in the midst of facing an enemy of shadows reliant on lies to further itself. The only way to break the Druj is the absolute Truth in a very Zoroastrian sense. Characters don't get to neatly skip past accountability for their actions, and this would spiral over into further later seasons with the essential reality that in an otherwise lower-level setting this one random girl from California is a Dark Phoenix-tier reality warper and the most powerful person on the planet, or the universe.
And the questions of how that power could and should be employed on the one hand and that Willow is essentially a Doctor Strange type who beats up Gods and Eldritch Abominations for her regular line of work where her counterparts deal with the more 'street level' crises would in turn be the logical conclusion of where the show ends. She doesn't do as much physical fighting for the same reason that Stephen Strange never uses magic to go punch the Hulk in the face, her narrative role is ultimately that of Sorceress Supreme of Earth, with literally nobody in an ancient established war anticipating that this one random ginger from California was and is the new Sorceress Supreme and that if they had had such awareness the realities are that this power would and could have taken worse forms.
Unfortunately for the world, the reality too is that it is a shy computer geek who has a not at all subtle dark side and the usual teenage anxieties and insecurities given the equivalent of being able to reliably actually do things other people might dream of but can never do.
But again as long as Dawn Summers being a good thing is a narrative convention that's established memory magic is a poor choice to show the corrupting effects of reality-warping. It's a case of 'yes as established in canon all of this is true for that one season but then they decided to retcon it, so the fans are not obligated to care about it any more than the canon does about this itself.'
#willow rosenberg#tara maclay#dawn summers#you will never convince me as long as Dawn Summers is a plot device that 'memory magic unforgivable' is anything but bad writing#it was the choice used but there are other equally toxic things that could have been done instead#the basic theme of 'very powerful person decides things for another in an abusive fashion' works just as well without it#Tara's growth arc in refusing to tolerate abuse even from the person who brought her out of her shell can stand perfectly fine#it works even better with a budding Sauron than abruptly deciding 'wholesale memory rewrites good retail unforgivable.'#killing Tara off also denies her any sense of closure or ability to get that closure with the person who does this#the entire element here with the way things went down is bad writing from Point A to point Z#and it's also easily forgotten but Tara wasn't in fact intended to be Willow's love interest#she was replacement Willow for sympathy points#her entire arc as such became Willow X Tara but it was a choice from actor chemistry#So in giving Tara a role besides 'Willow's Girlfriend' it arguably does better by her character#tara x willow#btvs#and yes yes the 'scale changes things' argument is true but only to a point#it's really no different to introduce Dawn than what Willow did#if the retail is wrong so is the wholesale and the decisions to make this that point of no return is an avoidable mistake#plus honestly imagine a Season 7 Tara going 'sweetie no' and a Season 7 Willow dealing with those consequences in real time#equally one can have Tara's cold turkey approach stick exactly as it was#and serve as her role in the time bomb because she's a product of an abusive family and not an infallible moral guide#she rightly sees the problem and at least tries to address it when nobody else did#but unfortunately her solution was pouring gasoline on the fire and then vacating the range where the fire would burn#still further between that and Willow being human enough to resent being told to take that pain and do it going it alone#there'd be plenty of reasons for a surviving Tara and Willow to spend season 7 broken up as is#Tara would not at all be wrong to be wary and not want to touch reformed Sauron with a 400 foot pole#Willow equally would resent someone whose bad advice helped create the problem and who evades any recognition thereof#good old fashioned drama with entirely human motives

i love madoka magica however i dont think we as a fandom talk enough about how tragic madoka herself is. probably because the narrative itself steers you away from thinking about her personally. shes not a character shes a desire that homura has, shes a force of good, shes homura's foil. but those are all madoka's narrative roles but madoka herself as a person is not really looked at because we are viewing this world from an unreliable narrator(homura) who only sees madoka as those things. The best thing homura could have done for madoka was give up on her, to let her go. because every time we go back in time the image of madoka is distorted, she loses more of herself every regression of homura's as she tries harder and harder to save her. We don't even know what madoka originally wished for to become a magical girl in the original timeline. and she actually acts quite differently than the madoka we meet. shes a lot more honest and caring and bold. by the time homura's has reached the actual anime madoka has been reduced by the sands of time to a figment of herself. she has no wants or desires of her own beyond wanting to do good and help her friends and when all her humanity is stripped away is when she finally acends to godhood because thats all thats left of her. an ideal and a faith in her. madoka kaname died a long time ago and all that is left is her ghost.
#of course homura doesnt care anymore because she cant go back she can only go forward cuz if she gives up she killed madoka for nothing#she could have left her pass away with dignity but now shes a ghost stuck in a web of time and the only thing she can do is keep trying#to save her#i feel like inately homura knows this but she doesnt want to admit to herself thats shes the real one who killed madoka kaname#this is a very charitable reading of homura#homura died too but its a clear moment because homura is our narrator#homura akemi will never come back madoka kaname will never come back#but life goes on anyway for homura#heres my truth#i loved rebellion but im actually a bigger fan of the original anime's ending so im glad it seems like red ribbon homu is coming back#i thought that ending was a lot more hopeful and beautiful and rebellion was kind of a downer but i always accepted they were parallel#and seems im right based on posters#for walpurgis#madoka uses one of my favorite literary devices which is the underuse of a character#i dont know whats it called but i love it when they dont outright develop a character usually to signal an upholding of the status quo#i already explained how madoka is not shown as a character but they do this in princess tutu too with mytho#mytho is a character from a book hes not real in the way that the others are and therefore cant actually change like the others can#hes always the focus of others and never the one thinking of others#i mean yeah he spends like the whole anime thinking about tutu but thats PART of his book its not him as a person#anyway ive been talking too much but i wanna bring up my favorite subtle use of this in takopi's original sin#the boy#idk his name rn lmao#hes straight up not present for the bulk of the manga and hes legit just absent from the ending scene despite being one point of a triangle#at first that weirded me out like??? he doesnt get closure???#but the reason was he didnt need it#the focus and moral is that those girls were 'weird' unable to be normal (because of trauma) and their closure was theyre at least together#but he doesnt need that because hes already normal hes the status quo a benchmark for the reader for the reader to judge the characters off#and the characters to judge eachother off of#anyway anyway sorry this has been so long#i had to get all of that out of me

Tactical Wound Closure Devices: A Step-by-Step Guide
In critical situations where immediate medical care is essential, having the right tactical wound closure devices can make all the difference. These devices are specifically designed for quick and effective management of wounds in high-pressure environments, such as on the battlefield, in tactical training, or during emergency medical situations. Understanding how to use these devices properly is crucial for anyone in tactical professions, first responders, or even civilians interested in preparedness. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to effectively use tactical wound closure devices.
1. Assess the Wound
Before using any tactical wound closure devices, the first step is to assess the wound thoroughly. Determine the type, depth, and severity of the wound to decide the most appropriate closure method. For example, superficial lacerations may require adhesive strips or skin glue, while deeper wounds might need sutures or staples. Proper assessment ensures you select the right device for optimal wound management.
2. Clean the Wound Area
Cleaning the wound is a critical step to prevent infection. Use antiseptic wipes, saline solution, or sterile water to remove any dirt, debris, or contaminants from the wound. This helps create a clean surface for the application of tactical wound closure devices and reduces the risk of complications.
3. Choose the Appropriate Closure Device
Select the suitable tactical wound closure device based on the wound type. For minor cuts, adhesive strips like Steri-Strips or wound closure tapes are quick and easy to apply. For larger wounds, skin staplers or suture kits might be necessary. Modern options like zip stitch devices offer a combination of adhesive and mechanical closure for secure and rapid wound management in the field.
4. Apply the Closure Device
Follow the instructions provided with the specific tactical wound closure device to apply it correctly. For adhesive strips, gently bring the wound edges together and place the strips perpendicular to the wound line. For staplers, align the device over the wound and press to release the staples, ensuring the wound edges are aligned properly. Ensure adequate tension is applied to secure the wound without restricting blood flow.
5. Monitor and Provide Aftercare
After applying the wound closure device, monitor the wound for signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, or discharge. Provide proper aftercare by keeping the wound clean, dry, and covered. Replace dressings as needed and seek medical attention if any signs of complications arise.
By following these steps, you can effectively use tactical wound closure devices to manage wounds in critical situations, ensuring rapid and secure closure to prevent further injury or infection.

Vascular Closure Devices (VCD) Market Size Worth USD 1.67 Billion in 2030
The global Vascular Closure Devices (VCD) market size is expected to reach USD 1.67 Billion in 2030 and register a steady revenue CAGR of 7.0% during the forecast period. Growing prevalence of Cardiovascular Diseases (CVD) and obesity is a major factor driving market revenue growth. For example, World Obesity Federation's World Obesity Atlas 2022, released on 04 March 2022, estimates that one billion individuals worldwide, including one in every five women and seven men, would be obese by 2030. Cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of mortality globally, killing an estimated 17.9 million individuals each year. Obesity, along with other cardiovascular risk factors, contributes to development of cardiovascular diseases as well as mortality from cardiovascular disease. Furthermore, prevalence of cardiovascular disorders is rising, due to increasing prevalence of worldwide obesity, which in turn is, rising demand for vascular closure devices.
