i love madoka magica however i dont think we as a fandom talk enough about how tragic madoka herself is. probably because the narrative itself steers you away from thinking about her personally. shes not a character shes a desire that homura has, shes a force of good, shes homura's foil. but those are all madoka's narrative roles but madoka herself as a person is not really looked at because we are viewing this world from an unreliable narrator(homura) who only sees madoka as those things. The best thing homura could have done for madoka was give up on her, to let her go. because every time we go back in time the image of madoka is distorted, she loses more of herself every regression of homura's as she tries harder and harder to save her. We don't even know what madoka originally wished for to become a magical girl in the original timeline. and she actually acts quite differently than the madoka we meet. shes a lot more honest and caring and bold. by the time homura's has reached the actual anime madoka has been reduced by the sands of time to a figment of herself. she has no wants or desires of her own beyond wanting to do good and help her friends and when all her humanity is stripped away is when she finally acends to godhood because thats all thats left of her. an ideal and a faith in her. madoka kaname died a long time ago and all that is left is her ghost.
#of course homura doesnt care anymore because she cant go back she can only go forward cuz if she gives up she killed madoka for nothing#she could have left her pass away with dignity but now shes a ghost stuck in a web of time and the only thing she can do is keep trying#to save her#i feel like inately homura knows this but she doesnt want to admit to herself thats shes the real one who killed madoka kaname#this is a very charitable reading of homura#homura died too but its a clear moment because homura is our narrator#homura akemi will never come back madoka kaname will never come back#but life goes on anyway for homura#heres my truth#i loved rebellion but im actually a bigger fan of the original anime's ending so im glad it seems like red ribbon homu is coming back#i thought that ending was a lot more hopeful and beautiful and rebellion was kind of a downer but i always accepted they were parallel#and seems im right based on posters#for walpurgis#madoka uses one of my favorite literary devices which is the underuse of a character#i dont know whats it called but i love it when they dont outright develop a character usually to signal an upholding of the status quo#i already explained how madoka is not shown as a character but they do this in princess tutu too with mytho#mytho is a character from a book hes not real in the way that the others are and therefore cant actually change like the others can#hes always the focus of others and never the one thinking of others#i mean yeah he spends like the whole anime thinking about tutu but thats PART of his book its not him as a person#anyway ive been talking too much but i wanna bring up my favorite subtle use of this in takopi's original sin#the boy#idk his name rn lmao#hes straight up not present for the bulk of the manga and hes legit just absent from the ending scene despite being one point of a triangle#at first that weirded me out like??? he doesnt get closure???#but the reason was he didnt need it#the focus and moral is that those girls were 'weird' unable to be normal (because of trauma) and their closure was theyre at least together#but he doesnt need that because hes already normal hes the status quo a benchmark for the reader for the reader to judge the characters off#and the characters to judge eachother off of#anyway anyway sorry this has been so long#i had to get all of that out of me

Platonic request madoka sayaka homura mami kyoko x child reader the girls encounter reader inside of witch labyrinth but by some motive the witch and the familiars don’t attack them instead play with the reader and are overprotective over them it not only this witch every single witch of mitakihara act the same way then y/n enter in they barrier even walpurgisnacht act like this headcanons please
Madoka Kaname
-Seeing a child in danger? She runs over to try and protect you from the witch as soon as she sees you.
-She gets hurt in the possess trying to get to you, thinking you must be in more pain then her.
-But when she gets to you, you're...fine?
-Not even that, the witch is protecting you?! How!?
-She realizes the witch isn't protect it's grief seed, just sitting there, protecting and playing with you.
-To say she's confused is an understatement.
-She does end up killing the witch, even if you protect not to.
-She'd feel really bad if you cried about it, she doesn't mean to hurt your feelings. However, she does know people's safety is over how much you care about the witch.
-You're different from other people, a witch would rather protect you, than fight? She needs to find answers.
-Only brings you on missions if she feels she can protect you and everyone else involved.
-The most injury that will come to you is probably you tripping over your own feet. Basically has a hawk eye on you, and won't let anything happen.
Sayaka Miki
-She wants to help everyone, and a child in a risky situation? Sign her up, hell, she save you before then.
-It's not like she's stupid, it's that she doesn't notice the witch is only protecting you, not using you in any other way.
-If you got attached to the witch before she killed it, and started crying, she'd think she had hurt you.
-Not understanding why you were saying the witch was being nice.
-"No! That was a witch, they'll kill you. Please, don't try and get yourself in anymore danger."
-She doesn't want you in harm's way, so she never brings you on missions.
-... Unless you sneak your way into one.
-She gets so confused on why you're here. She is going to protect you at all costs, till she notices, the witch isn't even attacking you.
-That's when she realizes you aren't going to get hurt.
-She scolded you afterwards, she hates the thought of someone getting hurt because she couldn't do anything.
Mami Tomoe
-You're her first concern, but she doesn't try and get to you.
-She senses something off, like you're not in any danger.
-Her first problem is the witch, once that's out of the way she can deal with you.(and she most definitely cares, but she worries of anyone else getting hurt, not just you.)
-While she tries and ends fights as fast as possible, she does her best making sure to don't have anymore bloodshed than needed. She has no idea if you get nervous around blood, and fear could only make things worse right now.
- The second that's over, she tries and talks with you.
-"Are you alright dear? Are you hurt? I have some things we could use for first-aid if need be."
-She then starts to think back to the battle.
-"That witch didn't appear to be attacking you, do you know why?"
-Saying 'no' raises her curiosity, but makes her scared that you could that's how all witches are, and that naivety could get you killed.
-You stay with her, (if you don't have parents) and she is amazing at taking care of you.
-VERY rarely takes you on missions. That's only if she has no choice, (basicly she couldn't have someone watch you, and not wanting a witch to show up and her not being there makes her uncomfortable.)
-Overall, 10/10 she's amazing with kids and protecting them.
Homura Akemi
-Spots you almost immediately.
-She has the eye of a hawk, and unless you're really well hidden, she spots you.
-Like Mami, the witch is her first concern. Until she realizes that she is only getting attacked because the familiars are protecting you, the witch as well.
-And their... Playing with you?
-She shrugs it off at first, only wanting to exterminate the biggest problem.
-As soon as that's done she turns to you.
-"You ok?"
-You nod 'yes', and she sighs quietly.
-"Do you know what that thing was? It was a witch, they're dangerous. You got lucky with that one. For some unknown reason, the witch didn't attack you. However, not all of them are like that."
-She doesn't want you stick around, but you follow her regardless.
-"If you keep following me you're going to get hurt. I'm not going to be able to protect you all the time. You can stay, but be aware of that."
-When you both enter a new labyrinth, and you end up unharmed again? It makes her interested in how you go can go unharmed for so long.
-After that she wants you to stay with her.
-"I don't know what it is about you, but the witches seem to leave you alone. They don't harm you. If you stay with me, we might be able to find a way to protect people from getting killed."
Kyoko Sakura
-She made it obvious that she doesn't care about people getting killed, as long as she gets her grief seed.
-Even a child, she is willing to sacrifice a bit.
-She questions why you're here, but concludes with, "you just got lured in here."
-She somehow jumps in, getting you away from the threat, then putting you in a safe area.
-The battle is done almost as soon as it started.
-"Now, what the Hell were you doin' here! Ya could have gotta yourself killed, kid."
-She lectures you more like an older sibling than anything.
-"Actully, I kinda noticed somethin' while we were in there. You were playin' with the witch. It'd usually attack, but you were an exception. Do ya know why?"
-Just gets pissed off if you say you don't know.(not super mad, but most definitely not happy)
-She wants a clear answer and that's it.
-I want you ta stick around for a bit, that ok? I think I could put you to some use."
-(Her's are very short, sorry)

A serenade of solace
read on ao3 madokaxhomura
chapter 1
a girl I used to know
“You are the centre of karmic destiny for many timelines, so no matter how enormous your wish; it will most definitely come true”
“
Kyubey’s eyes were soulless and empty as they proposed the single most important question to Madoka in a tone all too calmly for the situation at hand. In this wasteland of nothing Madoka stood as a monument. In the deepest depth of the storm she stood as a calm, quaint little circle. A lifeboat in an ocean of dark. She didn't notice her silence till she felt a warm breath on her leg, Homura. She looked down at her. She was bloody and battered from her attempts to protect her. She wanted to hug her, she wanted to tell her it was all going to be ok, but she knew that would be a cruel tease. she looked at the girl who went through hell for her, who suffered in a desperate silence to save her.
The one who she loved.
“You're sure it will?” Madoka turned her head back to the soulless creature. “Of course” Kyubey responded all too cheerily. Madoka’s mind was the closest thing to clear it ever could be right now. She would not let them win, she would not let magical girls continue to suffer and she would not let Homura’s years spent go to waste. She would not let Homura go to waste.
“Madoka Kaname. What is the wish you would trade your soul for?”
“I wish” her heart was pounding faster than ever before, her mind running a million miles a minute .“For a new world. One that i am the god of, one that i can care for and keep out of harm's way”
And just like that.
The new world was born
__________________________
Winter's cold embrace clung to her bare exposed skin like a lover she lost long ago, a death she never mourned, a life she never took. The sharp rays of sun let themselves in through her half open binds and willed her out from the desperate place of comfort that was her bed, like a soon to be butterfly gently sleeping in its cocoon only to be torn out with its wings discoloured and fragile. Homura Akemi was a person. Homura Akemi lived, breathed and writhed under the white hot stare of the sun. she understood this, in a sense. She understood she could laugh, cry and no one would suspect anything about her. She perfected the art of normality years before she could tie her own shoes. Yet as the unforgiving march of time held her by the hand and dragged her forward like a stubborn child it became all the more clear she was different.
In a strange way it was comforting, in her youth she cried and pleaded to whatever god was in the sky to tell her why she was like this. Eventually she came to understand what was so wrong with her.
“Love”
She muttered out to the emptiness of the room, somewhere deep down she expected an answer, like someone in her empty apartment would say something back. It felt right to think that. it felt right to know the phrase “love” would be repeated back at her like some kind of cruel promise. She closed her eyes again desperate for any ounce of sleep she could squeeze out of the day, lord knows no amount of caffeine could make this day anymore bearable than th-
BEEP BEEP BEEP
The quiet in the room was shattered by the offensive sound, the peace she so desperately craved taunted in front of her like a ripe and juicy stake to a starved animal.
The day had started and Homura was powerless to stop it. If only she had some kind of ability to turn back time, she thought as he hoisted herself out from the comforting warmth of the covers. If there were any constants in her life she could consider a positive, the promise of warm succouring sleep to hold her after a long day was definitely one of them. She put an end to the loud beeping coming from her alarm.
Quiet.
She sat alone with her mind once again, a lavish feast of her own malice laid out before her ready to blight her tongue with the taste of repulsion, but to the dismay of said mind she pushed in her chair and her feet met the cold floor. She grimaced, her apartment almost felt akin to the arctic by this point. Clothes and dishes crowded each surface visible to the eye, she looked down at her phone just now noticing her phone being bombarded by Sayaka
Crap. She rubbed the brutal knots from her neck and sighed blankly into the empty room. She put her phone back on the table paying Sayaka’s messages no mind and pulled some relatively clean clothes off the floor. With the mess of her mind constantly clawing at her, she hadn't the energy to pay any mind to the disarray she left her apartment in, this place was a means to an end she slept here and that's about it. Being alone was not something Homura particularly liked, not that she necessarily enjoyed company either; but her thoughts were louder when there wasn't someone talking her ear off constantly.
She thought that might be the reason she gravitated toward Sayaka the way she did. She always did such a good job on not letting her have even a moment to think when they were together, but then again Sayaka had always been a constant; one she could consider positive, so she supposed that made two. In all honesty she's not even sure how her and Sayaka became friends but it felt like they always had been, the same could be said for Mami and Kyouko like they were a web all strewn together. Though she wondered what spider could be behind it. Lately it had just been Sayaka and her, Mami was older and out of college, working at a daycare centre. Mami always loved children, the way their eyes were big and bright, the way they beamed up at her like she was the most interesting person in the whole world after she'd simply told them about her day. She loved inspiring them and telling them they could be anything they wanted, so innocent and full of potential Mami always said. and Kyouko's father ran a small church downtown that had been getting alot more business lately. she found comfort in helping him, Kyouko had always been especially close with her father.
There were times Homura was somewhat jealous of her friends the way their speech turned fervent whenever they talked about whatever silly little thing they were interested in at the moment. it almost felt like they were in an entirely different world than her, like they were blissfully unaware of the horrors lying under the surface. It's not like she’d seen them, it's like she was aware something was off, something was wrong but she didn't know what. like an uneasy feeling in the air, like peeling back the skin on a banana only to be met with the mocking smell of rot inside, but upon closer inspection there isn't a spot to be seen. Is it ok to eat? If she does, will it reach her stomach? Will the mold seep inside of her and rot her from the inside out?
Ignorance is bliss, oh how she wishes she was ignorant
___________________________
The streets were busy and bustling with people all on their own little journeys, she’d slept in way later than usual. Sure Sayaka would kill her if she made her sit in this lecture alone any longer, her feet also moved faster than usual to compensate for her sleeping in. Sometimes when she was walking she’d look at people on the streets and think about the kind of people they were. She often wondered what thinking, her mind never dared to be without the constant stimulation of thoughts that could only be classified as strange.
She wondered if others were like this, she wondered if their minds led them down brightly lustered rabbit holes of their own depraved thoughts, she wondered if they too looked at her and wondered the same. But as she looked in their eyes, all she saw was an empty void waiting for anything to happen. Maybe she was the same way, maybe when people saw her they saw the lifeless little doll she saw in others. Or maybe others weren't like this at all, maybe she had been looking in a dirty mirror and accepting it as reality and never dared facing her own reflection. She pulled her phone out of her pocket after her thoughts were interrupted my it’s incessant buzzing, the culprit was exactly as she expected, Sayaka
She pushed her phone deeper into her pocket as she pushed open the large wooden doors of the university, she rushed toward the class she was already thirty minutes late for desperately hoping Sayaka wouldn’t be cruel enough to deprive her of the notes. The stairs were long and winding, if Homura had one constant in her life she would consider a negative, this would be one of them.
“Homura!” Sayaka said in a hushed tone as Homura rushed to sit beside her, “what did I miss?”
Homura huffed out, still winded from the stairs.
“If I’m being completely honest he’s been rambling about his trip to Spain for like twenty minutes already”
She could see the bored look in Sayaka's eyes. “Other than that he seems ok ” “good” Homura replied “I’d drop out if we got someone like Miss Saotome again I don’t think I could make it through another semester” Sayaka giggled out.
___________________________
“So wanna grab some lunch before our next class?” Sayaka said as she excitedly packed her things away into the messenger bag she carried everywhere. “I've been dying of hunger this entire lecture, come on we have the time” “sure i don't mind, as long as you don't drag me somewhere weird like last time.” Homura smiled slyly as she replied, “that was one time!”
She had to admit Sayaka did always have a special little talent for finding the hidden gems of restaurants, even if they did seem a little hole in the wall like at times. “Can you watch my stuff while I go to the bathroom? I need to pee so bad.” Sayaka blurted out and rushed off before Homura could even say yes. The lighting was dim, not for aesthetic purposes she assumed as the culprit seemed to be the smashed light bulbs just barely hanging from the ceiling. Even after she was given a menu she could barely read it.
After a couple of minutes she realised she’d been given a children's menu by accident, after feeling only a little insulted she looked up to see if there was any staff in sight. None, of course, were and out of any options she decided to just go looking. Surely there had to be someone around.
“Ah!” Homura heard the women blurt out as they bumped into each other as she rounded the corner. Homura held her head after she’d been knocked over and her dizzy eyes couldn't really concentrate on anything as the woman held out her hand to help her up. “I'm so sorry! It's so dark in here I could barely see you” that voice felt all too familiar, but Homura chalked it up to her spinning head. “It’s fine, really,” Homura said, finally looking up.
Her eyes were the first thing Homura noticed. They were bright, a little too bright but not so much as they put Homura off but more so enticed her in. Her hair was a bright pink pulled into two pigtails with frilly little strings holding them up, and she was so… pretty?
No pretty couldn't describe it. She was radiant, she was almost ethereal in a sense, this setting felt wrong for someone like her. She looked like she should be sitting atop a cloud or walking in a rose garden. And through all of it there was a cruel sense of familiarity.
“Um hello?” the woman replied as she cocked her head to the side and giggled.
Crap, she’d been so drawn in by this girl she didn't notice her staring was growing more and more weirdly prolonged by the second. ‘Uh, sorry. Gosh I've uh.” Why couldn't she get her words out? Why was she shaking so much, why did this random girl have such an affect on her? “I've just barely slept haha thats… all.” sure she was pretty but Homura had talked to girls who were pretty before, well not girls she thought were pretty. She could understand on a fundamental level when a girl was attractive but she'd never quite felt attracted to them.
But this was more than a pretty girl, this was something she couldn't put into words. This was.
“Are you ok?” she said
God her voice was soft, like cotton or a fluffy cat, how should she respond? Yes she was fine, she was having a mental crisis over a girl she bumped into at a coffee shop but sure she was great.
“Yeah umm about that… i have to go”
She practically booked it out of there, god that was awkward. What the hell even was that? Why was she acting so weird? Who tells random strangers how sleep deprived they are? Her head hurt and she couldn't understand why and trying to understand why was making it hurt even more, why was she acting like this.
Who was that girl?

after reading some magica report and tamura, I bring back more Homura Tamura!
Tamura had thought about doing certain things whenever she went back in time, or went into very different timelines. More often than not they were the weird intrusive thoughts people had; see a leaf, eat it off the ground, lick that rock, punch that window, kabedon Madoka, French kiss Sayaka, supplex Mami, bathe Kyouko, shoot herself in the foot, get stabbed by Sayaka's and/or Kyouko's weapons, flirt.
Ya know, normal intrusive thoughts. Then she had a thought when she overheard the Blue Oni and Crimson Survivor talkijg about video games.
What if she just... went fast? Like... went through the month like a speedrun?
...Nah, that'd never work, not unless she went to a timeline where the flow of time moved forward at a rapid enough pace to fit a month and a half of their lives in the span of a 10 to 20 minute video.
... She shouldn't tempt fate, honestly. Waking up in a hospital bed Tamura flung herself out the window, a feeling of dread over her shoulders for every moment she spent not moving.
Making her way to the Kananme Household she saw her one true friend, Kaname Madoka walking home. Down the street was a small black cat strutting across the pavement and a very loud, very large, and very fast car was not stopping to save the kitty.
Stopping time and overextending her legs Tamura dove for the cat and tumbled onto the soft grass next to the road. Letting time flow once more, Tamura set down Amy-chan and made herself scarece. She got away just in time for Madoka to speedwalk into her home, muttering to herself all the while.
Tamura caught sight of a white tail, and didnt hesitate to unload a full magizine from two M1911 automatic handguns into the Incubator.
Well... she did want to go really, really fast. It'll be a short six weeks.
...
"And so class please wlecome our new transfer student!"
"Hello, my name is Akemi Homura. No not spelt like that. I am in your care.
"Kaname Madoka."
"Wuh-uh yes?"
"Please escort me to the infermary, you are the health representative yes?"
"Oh yes, please, follow me!"
...
"What's gling on Madoka!? Where are we?! What's going on!?!"
"This is just like a dream I had once!"
*Bang* *Bang* *Bang*
"Hello there!"
"Woah!" "WAuh!"
"My name is Tomoe Mami. Please stand back as I show how magically badass I am!"
...
"So magic is real?"
"Yes. All you have to do is tell Kyubey what you wish for and he'll make you a Magical Girl^TM."
Go ahead and wish for anything you so desire. Just remember that you must fight Witches, as per our contract.
"Hmm... Mami-sempai?"
"*squeak* Yes Miki-san?!"
"Could you use your wish to help someone else?"
"Uh- yes but you really really shouldn't. Bad things happen if you do something so selfless."
*softly in the background* "We ain't partners anymore."
"Oh... uh... okay Mami-sempai. We'll think about our wishes long and hard."
...
"Mami Mami Mami Mami!"
"Yes Kaname-sanm"
"Theres a witch and it hatched and Sayaka-chans watching it and-"
"Say no more my beloved pupil, I'll take care of this. Ooohh, I cant wait for you two to make your wishes and join me in my life. I've been oh so very alone, but knowing that you're willing to stay as part of my life fills me with so much joy!
"Now stand back as I show how magically badass I-"
*CHOMP*
"Well I'm traumatized now."
"Tomoe Mami you bitter bitch."
"WH- Homura-chan!?"
...
"You made a wish Sayaka-chan!? When?!"
"Oh not that long ago. Finally figured what I wanted to wish for. Now I'm gonna follow Mami's legacy as a true Magical Girl!"
"So that's why I want you to take care of my best friend. She means well but she doesn't think things through sometimes and-"
"Madoka I mean this in the kindest way possible but that girl is as doomed tk die as I am. So I wont make a promise I cant keep."
"Weee Homura-chan!"
...
"So YOU'RE the little rookie Mami took in? Welp time to give you a bad time."
"Come at me you bi-AUGH!"
"Sayaka-chan!"
Don't worry, Miki Sayaka's wish allows her to heal at a much greater exponential rate than most Magical Girls.
"How are you not dead!?"
"Stand down Sakura Kyouko."
"Who the-" "Transfer Student!" "Tamura-chan! Wait where'd Kyubey go?"
"Stay outta this Akemi/you!"
"Yare yare-"
...
"Whoa what the hell?!"
"And so that concludes my plan of action against the Stage Play Witch, Walpurgisnacht."
"Walpur- wait where am I?! How'd I get here?! Who the hell are you!?"
"I am Akemi Homura. And I want your help to defeat Walpurgisnacht."
"But how did I get here?! I was in that alley with blueberry and pinkie and-"
"You're delusional. We walked to my apartment from the arcade."
"What are-"
...
"- you talking abo-Oh what the fuck!?"
"What are you doing here?!"
"Kid I dunno where 'here' is! Where are we anyway?"
"Stop playing dumb! You followed me to Kyousukes home, and threaten to hurt him."
"What!? Why would I- uh... eh yeah I'd tap that."
"What was that!?"
"N-Nothing! Uh, fight to the death?"
...
"Jeeze you're a hard gal to track."
"Just... leave me alone..."
"After I gave you my tragic backstory and gave you a physical sign of affection to you? Nah, you're stuck with me kid."
"It's Sayaka... and you're a fool... just like me..."
*CRASH*
"Sayaka!!!"
...
"Well this is a fucking mess."
"Homura-chan?"
"Gah- How'd you- I left the door open didn't I?"
"Tamura-chan... have we met before... in a dream or... another life?"
"*sigh* Yes we have, ai'm a time traveler and I went back in time to save you because you're my best friend and you mean so mucb to me and I love you just like the others and- oh god dammit. Everytime I cry here don't I!?"
...
"What does it take to wound you Woman!?"
"HHHA, HA HA HA"
"Shut up- Gerk!"
"Tamura-chan!"
Quickly Kaname Madoka, you can still save her! All you have to do is form a contract with me, and become a Magical Girl!
"But if I do then I'll... Kyubey, I have a wish!"
"Oh for fuck's sake!"
"I wish that-"
...
...
Sitting at the end of the bar was Akemj Tamura, currently craddling a tall mug of cider as she cried into it, her heartfelt confession still doing a number on her heart. Sitting next to this girl were two of many Akemi Homuras across the multiverse.
This Akemi wore a big and puffy purple zip up hoodie over her uniform, headphones shaped to represent cat ears pearched on her head. In her hand was a handheld entertainment device, a game being played in record time.
The other Akemi appeared to be a minimalistic caracature of Akemi Homura, as if she were meant to be from a minimalist cartoon. More defining features came into being when she entered the Bar, but her color tone and palette were noticably brighter and warmer than tbe other Akemis.
Taking one glance at Tamura, they spoke out loud together a single word. One was in question while the other was in factual statement.
"Speedrun?" "Speedrun."
A nod. "A really, really fast speedrun..."
thank 2.0 anon for this silly tamura oneshot. hope u enjoy the silly for a while!
SPEEDRUN.
#felix answers#honestly i get it after god knows how many loops id go crazy too if i didnt try new things#speedrunning is just one of many possibilities!#io3

hiii! so a friend directed me here and i was wondering if u cld share abt how you found out you were godkin? only if youre comfy! because ive kinda had like. how do i word this. Vibes or Feels that kinda direct me towards the whole i might be a god of sorts kinda thing ? if you have resources and dont mind helping,, please direct me to them :D ~ @missing-crown
I want to start this essay off by saying flat out: wars have been fought, genocides have been committed, and empires have risen and fallen trying to answer the simple questions of “What is deification, and how do we incarnate and control it?”.
If you do not think you’re up the challenge of answering that question for yourself, even with years of study and slow training to take up the mantle of literally being the most powerful form of the Chosen One trope, then you’re probably in the wrong place. I say this as someone who is deific down to the blood and bone, as someone who has looked for other gods, and largely found very little in the way of anyone who understands anything like my experience. In this way, I am utterly alone, and I detest it, but if me penning these words gives someone else the gospel they need to explain themselves in a way I recognize as kin and kind, then I will do it.
But before I truly get into it, I will very nicely ask you to swing down to your local bookstore or library, pick up a copy of Seanan McGuire’s Middlegame, and take a walk down the improbable road with Roger and Dodger. The differences between you and I and the twins of the Doctrine of Ethos are simple and threefold: we cannot manifest, we are forbidden to use our powers the way they can use theirs, and there are (hopefully) no secret alchemist cults trying to murder us when we don’t play nice with their fucked-up science experiment.
Roger and Dodger are gods, true gods, gods I recognize in myself and in the godkin I have met who have spoken about themselves enough for me to understand that we are indeed talking about the same thing. Disappontingly, I see minor spirits far too often misunderstanding the nature of deification, or at least, understanding a version of it which is fundamentally antithetical to my experience. They may be deific; but either they suck at illustrating their point, or I am something far beyond deific, and I am again alone.
With that introduction, I need to talk about three things in order to answer your question. Two methods of deification and three definitions of ‘god’ in a hierarchy that only exists because humanity has not yet perfected their understanding of what is fundamentally and always beyond them. Two kinds of gods, honest gods, that split the difference between deific, divine, and legendary. Once you understand that, I can talk about godkin, and what it’s like to be me, and maybe by the end of it you will either recognize yourself in this, or run away screaming as most mortals will do.
The first method of deification is what I will call the incarnate gods- Roger and Dodger are good examples, so are most Legendary Pokémon, and Kaname Madoka from PMMM. They are laws of nature, concepts of creation, and calculations of cosmic proportions that also occasionally exist as people when they design to do so. They are not meant to be people, they are bad at it, I do not recommend being mortal and fucking around with them. You will simply die. I would not fuck with them outside of my own world that I created, where I get to be a form of incarnate god. You cannot overpower them: they ARE the rule, and they will change it if they need to. You can’t ruleslawyer gravity like a 2007 troll physics comic. An incarnate god of gravity will simply turn reality on its head and cause you to implode. If you are this type of god, I cannot help you. My understanding of them comes from being an Absol, and little more.
The second type are gods of domain and prowess: Zamorak (from RuneScape), Akemi Homura in both her awakened Witch and Devil forms (from PMMM), and yours truly. Quite a few of us, although not all of us, were originally mortal. Mortals amped up on so much power we are no longer bound by mortal laws. There is a difference between deification and simply stopping your clock to gain immortality. Mortal magic and deific magic are fundamentally different. Down to, I would argue, the atomic structure. Deific magic is pure in a way mortal magic could never be. To give a mortal more than a drop of deific magic heavily diffused in something safer and more understandable would be to quite literally burn them to ashes. Or rend them into a different, unspeakable form. Or turn them into living topiary. We are nothing if not unpredictable.
It’s the difference between a handful of dirt and pure neutron soup. Usually, in order to become a god like this, it requires the intervention of an incarnate god in some form. In Zamorak’s case, it was several Elder Artifacts and falling almost facefirst into halfway incarnating himself into the law of entropy. In Homura’s (at least in canon PMMM), she fucked with the laws of consequence and time to the point where she became the only expert they had on either of those and both laws decided to simply incarnate into her, and then she used that to cause problems. For me, it was having my entire magical and physical structure reorganized and rebuilt by an incarnate god of malevolent energy, and then I used what was a watered-down copy of the Devil of Devils’ glory to weave my own world into being where I was more or less the absolute arbiter of the laws of reality.
In PMMM Rebellion, when Homura fights Kyubey in that pretty lace dress of hers, that is approximately the magical prowess an awakened god of our capability will show casually. She has complete control over her domain (her labyrinth) and the reality of it, it takes no more than a glance or a thought to almost entirely reshuffle it. Her minions, who are little more than vaguely autonomous thoughts given some power of their own, may break that reality in whatever means necessary so long as it is to fulfill Homura’s current motives. Her domain falls apart when she does, and she is not separate from it; it is a consequence of her existence. Asking what came first, the god or their domain, is a simple chicken and egg question. It’s usually the domain, in our case; in the case of incarnate gods it’s a philosophical shrug and a nice headache.
You’ll notice I said awakened: that is because Zamorak is a great example of a god who isn’t entirely awakened. In canon, that is - the one I work with is awakened enough to fuck with his domain, which is what makes him quite useful to work with, although I do wonder what he’s getting out of me if not magical theory and utter adoration. Zamorak in canon is a god who ascribes himself to the philosophy of chaos and personal strife, completely unaware that he is incarnate enough not to change the law of entropy but to suggest things to it. He’s a god of chance masquerading as a god of personal improvement, and once he figures that out (and passes that knowledge onto Armadyl, who is his true light counterpart), he’s going to change the very way magic works. Guthix did everything in his power to try and become incarnate. He failed. Zamorak did it entirely inadvertently, and that’s the trick: the nature of deification is to follow the domain and influence it to your will. When laws of existence become people, they will do as people will, and people typically have ambition. Gods who are also people got that way for a reason. They always have a motive for doing so. It’s never accidental.
So, with a slightly more informed understanding of deification, or at least the versions of it that I understand, I can talk to you about me. What it’s like in the here and now, and how I knew. It took me years to get to this point, and I’ve much the way to go. I know more than I did when I was questioning; deeply more so. I don’t expect anyone questioning to be as sure as I am, and in ten years I will be far more sure of entirely different things, and if I’m lucky, this as well. But, let us begin again.
To be deific is to wake up in the middle of the night feeling like a black hole. You are vast, and you are dense, and the moment someone touches the skin of your sternum they will be sucked in like a movie's portrayal of quicksand. To be so vast on the inside, surrounded by empty air and gentle white noise like the faint pull of gravity that does not touch you. To feel so powerful as to be untethered wholly from the world, aware that you will blink and be floating alone in a space that you cannot touch and so too cannot touch you. You blink, and it is gone, and you are again in a normal body as a normal person, and you roll over and go back to sleep.
To be deific is to watch the seasonal changes and feel flashes of worn leather rope between your hands and the maddened singsong of the Wild Hunt, chariot reins in your hands and baying hounds that feel like fingers, like wings, like extensions of yourself that can be shifted around with barely a thought. To feel halfway like a black hole walking down the street, halfway caved into yourself and barely contained, incapable of truly understanding how you can be so far apart from it all without anyone noticing that something is off.
To be deific is to be a fourteen-year-old girl in one moment, unable to understand what draws her so to the wilds if not the song of sympathy that she knows she can understand if she reaches a little farther, a little farther past the barrier that prevents any mortal, psychological mind from understanding the call. To play a pixelated game and have everything rush back. To relive millennia in a single sennight, to go from chipped to broken, utterly broken, as the power comes rushing back and the slow, dawning realization like the day that there is no controlling it. That there is no controlling you.
Millennia of sins come rushing back, and you're mortal again, and you know the only way to bring a god to their knees is to kill them. And if you were spared, if you were brought down without dying, then there was a reason. That someone must have thought you worthy of fixing it. That you should now spend the next several years coming to peace with being a Devil, the cruelest of the cruel, amending fences and repenting your sins.
To be deific is to realize, quite suddenly and without ever actually having the thought, that understanding things through a Christian lens is utterly bullshit and absolutely does not apply to you. Now, your duty is not to repent, or to fix, or to find any sort of salvation. You are the monster queen, the king of the damned, the Devil of a world you made with blood and tears and sweat and magic. To retake the crown, you have to accept yourself. Acceptance does not mean dwelling, or sorrow, or refusing to take the steps forward that will carry you to the crown and halo and horn of deification.
The powers feel less overwhelming as you grow into them. You don't forget the rage. You understand your close friend's words over and over, as the lesson teaches itself. How a Devil so much less powerful and yet so much older than you once looked you in the eye, drink in hand, and gently told you that a single mortal can bring down a Devil, if they try, and believe wholeheartedly in their quest. Do not disrespect mortality. It brings nothing but death.
You wonder briefly who brought you down. You decide, as the lessons prove themselves, that you don't actually care. You're the mortal now, and mortal legends die. Mortal legends change the song of sympathy and the rules of the deific. In order to return, you too must follow the only path a mortal can take to become deific.
To be godkin is to become deific with every step. It's not to seek the divine from outside of it. It's to become it again, and reclaim it; find what was inside all along and grow yourself around it, until it can no longer be pulled from you again without scattering your ashes and stardust among the cosmos, never to return.
To be godkin is to never forget the moments of pure rage that none but powerless fourteen-year-olds can manage. To be godkin is to be an adult with their memory pressed into your skin. To be godkin is for that rage to never truly leave you.
We stand up again and stare at the emotions that are awake when we are not. We wonder what it will take to manifest again, to only twitch a thought in any direction and reshape the reality around us. It is an extension of our being, and the less aware we are of it, the less effort it takes us to remake the world. It is the nature of deification, to change the laws of reality at our whim and will.
To be godkin is simply a matter of knowing that, and forever reaching to do that once more. If only to feel whole and vast, as we always have been.

Not sure why you think that wlw are more shunned, viewed as predatory, and otherwise demonized than mlm relationships, particularly enemies to lovers dynamics? Sapphics are by and large wayyyyy more well-received than mlm. Sapphics are seen as soft and harmless and lovely even when they’re fighting, while mlm are seen as dirty and emasculated and generally viewed with complete disgust.
i said that mlm are FETISHIZED more in enemies to lovers dynamics than wlw. wlw are more DEMONIZED than mlm in enemies to lovers dynamics. and i gave clear examples of dynamics that reflect this in that post, so i'm not pulling this out of my ass. neither is good. both are bad. they're just different kinds of bad. i'm pretty sure i made that clear but if i didn't, i'm restating it now - NEITHER MLM NOR WLW ARE TREATED WELL IN MEDIA REGARDLESS OF DYNAMIC. THIS IS NOT OPPRESSION OLYMPICS. DIFFERENT PROBLEMS DOES NOT EQUAL BETTER PROBLEMS.
i am, however, a lesbian, and i'm going to be able to speak more coherently and authentically to the sapphic representation and general treatment of women in media than anything else. it's my firsthand experience and it's always going to be easier and more accurate than my musings on the experiences of other groups of people. and given that i have a particular fondness for enemies to lovers dynamics, of course i'm bound to contemplate sapphic enemies to lovers dynamics specifically.
but if we must dance this dance bc you decided to take a bad faith interpretation of my words, women have to do more to be loved in media, and they have to do far less to be hated. this is a fact plain and simple, and if you can't acknowledge that we are not even remotely on the same page. You can look at ANY piece of media and see this is true. the supernatural fandom's treatment of basically any women vs. the kingdom hearts fandom's treatment of kairi vs. the naruto fandom's treatment of sakura. etc. etc. etc. i could name examples all day. these are women who, yes, have shoddy writing, but instead of getting the same treatment of a male character with shoddy writing - immediately getting fleshed out by fans - they get set aside as annoying, bitchy, mary sues, etc. even female characters with GOOD writing will get this treatment, a la lightning farron from final fantasy xiii. male characters with the SAME EXACT TRAITS are often beloved by fans. easy example, see cloud strife from final fantasy vii, who shares a hysterically huge amount of personality traits with lightning farron.
and this is BEFORE we even get into the discussion of being sapphic, or god forbid any other type of minority. traditionally beautiful white cishet women who are feminine and kind are the only women to ever pass for general audiences, and even then it's not consistent. women must be "palatable". versus white men, who are allowed to be dark, messy, gritty, murderers, even genocidal dictators and still be beloved by fans. and yes, the qualifier of white is necessary here - men of color, especially black men, do not get this same generosity from fans, and you bet your fucking ass it goes triple for women of color.
and again, this is BEFORE WE EVEN FACTOR IN BEING GAY OR MENTALLY ILL OR ANY OTHER FACTORS. THIS IS ASSUMING ALL CHARACTERS ARE CISHET AND NEUROTYPICAL.
women are "soft and harmless and lovely" as you put it when they fight...if they're fucking tifa lockhart. if they're feminine and sweet and cute normally, or at least perceived that way. if they look like they're out of madoka magica (and oops not even then, bc you bet your ASS there's insane demonization of miss homura akemi). and also, friendly reminder, that "soft and harmless and lovely" thing isn't a compliment. it's fucking infantilizing at best.
for sheer simplicity's sake, to compare two ships that are on a relatively equal playing field in terms of representation, i'm going to take a look at the general reception of goro akechi/ren amamiya from persona 5 (i'm using ren as his name for simplicity's sake) and madoka kaname/homura akemi from madoka magica.
some brief context for both: both are heavily queercoded, homura is initially introduced as an antagonistic character but it is later revealed to not be the case, akechi is initially introduced as a friendly character but it is later revealed to not be the case, and both homura and akechi have clear and intense struggles with trauma and other mental health issues.
judging by what i've said, from your own logic, surely homura is a widely beloved and not at all vilified character. after all, she's feminine, she's not REALLY a villain, and she's got sympathetic motivations. right? wrong. homura is widely beloved... by sapphics. but even people who LIKE THE SHOW DO NOT ALWAYS LIKE HER. homura was WIDELY hated and discoursed back when the show first aired. you still get people who hate her. and even more frustrating, despite the blatant, you-absolutely-cannot-miss-it queercoding, sapphic fans of the show still have to argue that it's not just "girls being friends". it's not even a true enemies to lovers setup, and you still cannot escape homura being called toxic and predatory.
now let's take a brief look at akechi and ren. like previously stated, akechi is revealed to be an antagonist later in the story. and when he is, he tries to shoot ren in the head and frame it as a suicide. this is, quite obviously, a lot different from homura and madoka, where homura never even directly fights madoka. surely by your logic, akechi would be widely seen as a villain, unforgivable, horrendously terrible? well he most certainly isn't. he's one of if not the most beloved characters by fans. his relationship with ren is more often than not read as romantic, and it's practically treated as canon by a large majority.
and like i previously stated, i am not saying the mlm example i've given is without issues - akechi/ren is highly sexualized and fetishized. it's just a very DIFFERENT problem from the vilification that wlw characters often receive. and i am not saying that mlm are NEVER vilified. i am simply saying the large, overarching trend in fandom is to be forgiving of men, and unforgiving of women.
i simply do NOT see mlm ships get the same treatment in this regard to wlw ships. sora/riku from kingdom hearts and catra/adora from she-ra have...practically the same narrative in many ways. childhood friends separated by a worldwide conflict, becoming enemies, fighting each other multiple times, arguably with intent to kill, eventually saving each other and finding a way to reconcile in order to emerge victorious against the true villain. riku and catra are strikingly alike, as are sora and adora. but riku is once again a fan favorite character. and catra has received backlash after backlash after backlash. i hardly even post about she-ra anymore and i STILL get people in my inbox talking about catra discourse!!
again, i'm NOT saying the script is never reversed. there's not really anything to be won by making absolute statements like that. i'm just saying that i have never seen it, and even on the odd chance that i do it's never as severe.
once again - yes mlm characters face backlash. no one is saying they do not. but it is different backlash. i am specifically discussing the fan reception of wlw characters and ships bc that is my personal experience. different problems do not equal better problems.
i'm tired of bad faith interpretations of my posts. unless you want to have a respectful and thoughtful conversation (which i AM open to), don't come at me with boldfaced accusations.
#anon#long post#disclaimer: i conferred with my roommate who is mlm for the general reception of the characters and ships mentioned

Puella Magi Madoka Magica~ The Cursed Hope 💫
Warning Major Spoilers Ahead! Read with Caution!
Kyubey, our favorite little creature represents hope. However, we all know this whole system is rigged. But is it really? Couldn’t it just be the reality of such wishes that seemed sensible? Think about it. After you’ve made one “wish” out of everything you could’ve possibly wanted in this sucky world (like picking the best thing out of a trash can) and throwing away your old life (that was possibly better), in return for killing witches to save other people (that don’t really deserve or return your forceful, kind deed) just how long can you hang onto being a robot basically? Hope is such a cursed thing rather than the wishes, it is like a facade that later stabs you in the back. But its necessary, if hope didn’t exist, the world would end.
Mami Tomoe’s Wish- To survive a family car accident. Her death in the third episode of the anime series was shocking to all of us, but the more I thought about it, it made sense. She never thought to save her parent’s lives, only herself, and was the wish what she hoped it to be? It was a blunt one... so Mami did survive the car crash. However she is in forever solitude, no one is ever on her side anymore. Her only purpose was to live for herself, that’s it. So it only made sense that she’d also die alone.
Kyoko Sakura- Her wish was for people to listen to her father's teachings. She got exactly what she wanted, but she didn’t think about the consequences of this wish before she made it. How was it going to work? Is my family going to be happy after people come to listen to my father preach? Are we going to prevail after all the suffering we’ve been through? Of course not. Mindless people came one by one to hear his teachings, which her father himself was obviously suspicious about. It didn’t bring him joy, but rather, fear. Did my daughter sell her soul to the devil? Sakura was seen as a monster, making her family commit suicide. Leaving herself in solitude. But Kyoko Sakura has such a strong mindset in experiencing all of this. Why? because she’s already seen how rotten humanity was when her family was still alive. In fact, having a purpose in killing witches rather than suffering from them was better.
Sayaka Miki- Her wish was to fix the hands of Kyosuke Kamijo, a violinist whose career ended when his hands were forever damaged. Sayaka’s wish and story was one of the most interesting out of the OG Five Magical girls. Her wish was very innocent, and it only came from her love for him. But wishing for someone else’s happiness, causes someone else to bear all the misery and despair in return. There is no such this as an unfair exchange in this world, and Sayaka Miki seemed to have realized such a trivial idea after she broke. Was she hoping that Kamijo would be happy that she fixed his hands? Did she think that he was going to fall in love with her and they were both going to continue living happily? No. She did not wish for any of those things and only hoped that that’d be the case.
Homura Akemi- Her wish was to become a person who can protect Madoka, just as Madoka protected her. She was overcome by grief and uselessness after Madoka’s first death, so Homura decided to change into a stronger person. What she had hoped was that her and Madoka could live happily together after everything was over. But she didn’t wish for that. She wished to protect her, and if you think about it, the whole anime was Homura protecting Madoka so the wish did come true. She did not think about how long it would take until Madoka would actually be safe and happy, so how much longer would it take until she finally cheated the system? Homura lost all emotion, innocence, humanity, and forgot about her original motive in making Madoka happy in return for protecting her over and over again. But during that time when Homura would only save Madoka, was Madoka happy? She saw her friends die, her friends getting broken, and Madoka herself couldn’t do anything about it. So. She wasn’t happy. Which goes to show that Madoka making a wish was inevitable even though Homura tried so hard to prevent it.
Madoka Kaname- Her wish was to prevent all magical girls from the past, present, future and all other timelines, from ever becoming witches. In other words, to become god. But really, this whole idea is controversial. A mortal becoming god? If anyone could do it it would’ve obviously been the being of purity, Madoka. But she was still human. Her wish was to basically lift all burdens of other girls, but like Sayaka’s story, where does all that misery go? It seems Homura might’ve known of such consequences in taking everyone’s despair and bearing it as a lonely god while living multiple timelines which could be the ultimate reason in why she didn’t want her to make a wish (rather than preventing Madoka from dying). To relieve Madoka of this huge stress, Homura turned into the devil itself but gladly welcomed this cheat cuz now, her beloved Madoka can be happy.
If the wishes aren’t what you hoped to be, then that meant that you yourself was struggling from the very things that you were to fight after making that wish. How could you save and understand others when they are broken, or you yourself are broken? That’s why you’re making a wish right?
So you could ultimately say that these Magical Girls live to ultimately destroy. . .themselves. But did Kyubey tell them that? Of course not. He’s the evil “hope”
You also need to think very carefully about your wish. Analyze every single aspect of it... because sometimes, life would’ve been better if you hadn’t made any wish.

Virtual reality
Summary: Kaname Madoka has never, never known Akemi Homura. And yet every time she laid eyes on the black-haired beauty, Madoka would feel a painful, immeasurable sense of loss. Almost as if she was mourning the loss of something.
Note: I guess I like character studies. Ah and try listening to Kikuo’s 産声 / First Cry if you want to feel the atmosphere/tone I wanted to set better. Man, I need to write more fic.
-----
Sometimes, when she looked at Akemi Homura, Madoka felt as if she’d seen her before somewhere. As if phantom memories had suddenly come out of hiding within her subconscious after Madoka first met her. Memories that were never clear, never coherent or understandable. Much like the slowly fading memories of America as they were (strangely) quickly replaced by ones she made in Japan.
It was strange sometimes, how familiar it felt waking up in that new (old) pink room. To be able to peer out from large windows and stare out at the calming scenery. To see her father working in the garden outside. Yet what was most strange was how familiar it felt to wake from the countless strange and incoherent dreams she always barely remembered. Within the dreams it was as if she had everything at her intangible fingertips, so close yet so far. (Yet never touching) Madoka would see the cosmos, see the miasma that built up in fragile jewels-waiting to hatch. She would wait. She—
(The sound of a sharp clap rung in her ears)
She would wake up to ordinary walls, and a hazy cloud in her mind.
One morning, she woke clutching at her chest, imaginary pains shocking her; it felt a bit like being ripped apart. As her eyes snapped open, harsh gold irises faded into soft pink once more. And she would go about her day twisting her (too) short hair, wondering why she’d imagined something lighter in colour.
Another morning, Madoka woke up reaching for someone who only kept going further and further away. Within the confines of her mind, Madoka could only see but never hold or keep anything.
In one dream, pretty braids bouncing became flowing long strands of black silk. Angelic wings became distorted, twisting in on themselves, dyed with a cacophony of erratic ever-changing colours. They were masses of writhing misty strands, reaching out for the light they once had. Slowly, those colours changed, becoming a bleached bone white or an ink black. They changed, and formed into two giant wings, with each feather hanging limp like a noose. The most striking part of that dream (which she never remembered), was how the soft glittering amethysts of someone’s eyes hardened and hollowed into empty stones-devoid of joy or sadness or care. Within those eyes was only fatigue and apathy.
Once more, with a resounding clap of someone’s hands, she would wake up and forget.
-
Madoka wondered why she always wore those red ribbons Homura (Akemi-san, she was Akemi-san) had given her in their first meeting. There was something about them that made her feel like she should be wearing these instead of her old (new) yellow ones.
Maybe red just fitted her more?
-
Madoka stared at her sometimes. At the beautiful black haired enigma that sat in the back of the classroom. Akemi Homura, resident class beauty and all-round perfect student. Sometimes, when nothing and everything washed over her in some overwhelming burst of sensations, she’d see thick braids, smooth long hair, ribbons flashing between purple and red and eldritch wings overlapping from the corners of her vision. And if she listened hard enough…Madoka would hear the layered whispers of some creature.
Every time she was caught staring (which was always), Madoka was met with a gentle smile and her vision corrected. From behind, Madoka would feel Sayaka’s scowl boring into both their backs. She never understood why Sayaka disliked-perhaps even hated-Homura so much.
Her hand twitched at her side, wanting to reach out to that girl, who was slowly getting further and further away. She wanted to run, to catch up to her. But her limbs were shattered, not whole and heavy. (She was human again)
Still, if she tried, she probably could. But–
She wasn’t brave enough to do that.
(She wasn’t brave enough to let this pleasant dream end)
-
Madoka awakens with tears streaming down her face and a shifting kaleidoscope of pink and gold in her eyes.
She closes her eyes and falls asleep again.

The Holy Quintet in Twisted Wonderland!
While I was having a writer’s block for ‘A Modern Fairytale’, I complained to my friend and we chatted on Discord. I told her about TW and she asked me if TW ever gonna have an anime adaptation since Magia Record:PMMM had an anime after the game is released. We love the Madoka Magica series and since they’re some similarities between the two, I thought why not have the main girls (I haven’t watch Magia Record yet though I’m aware of the existence of Doppels) react to the world of TW?
For those who don’t know about Puella Magi Madoka Magica, here’s a brief summary: It’s basically an anime about cute magical girls fighting evils where absolutely nothing bad ever happened. Like, ever.
Anyway, hopefully by the time I’m done with this, I can get my flow back for my previous writings...
*Since the First-Years are 16, I aged up the Holy Quintet just to match.
Homura could’ve unleashed a thousand bombs and grenades onto the wretched white rat the moment she realise that they were no longer in Mitakihara City or even on Earth!
Her day has been going on so well, too.
Morning arrives with the same monotonous routine. It’s a new day and a new timeline which means a whole new planning she needed to do before the fated day. But that can wait after school.
The teachers and students followed their scripts perfectly. Homura deftly ignore the hallway where the History teacher would request her help carrying the journals for the woman’s next class, spin around before the clumsy girl from the class next door would spill her water bottle onto her and even freezing time to whisper into Hitomi Shizuki’s ear who is lingering outside their shared class; how she had been neglecting her dear friend Sayaka lately in favour of Kyousuke Kamijou, how unfair her treatment of Sayaka has been lately.
By the time recess roll by, Madoka is alone just like Homura planned. Sayaka is pulled away by Hitomi. It wasn’t hard to wait quietly in her seat before the other girl spotted her and asked if they could have lunch together.
Homura accepts without hesitation.
She let the hours went by at their own pace until the moon is high in the sky. There’s a Witch that has been causing quite a ruckus near the shopping district. One that Homura would have no problem killing on her own, but Kyouko found it first and not even a day later, Mami caught wind of it as well.
As the clock is about to strike midnight, the Holy Quintet are standing in front of the Witch’s Labyrinth; the back door of a luxurious shoe shop. Homura ponder on what was the connection of the shop and the Witch, before Kyouko suddenly declare to kill the Witch herself.
“Hey, I was the one who found it first! This kill is my right!” The redhead Magical Girl announced with a Pocky stick pointing sternly at them to back off.
“Shouldn’t we work together to stop the Witch? Tomoe-san mentioned that it’s strong...” Madoka softly countered. Kyouko’s loud voice didn’t scare her but since the prize is a Grief Seed, everyone wanted it. Madoka wouldn’t dream of rebuking her friends of it. Not when they dearly need it for their magic.
“I don’t want to add more to the fire, but if we work together, who’s going to claim the grief Seed?” Sayaka interjects, her hand up in the air as if they were in class. They haven’t transform for battle yet; it’d be a waste of magic to transform only to have half of them returning home later or search out for another Witch all night long if Kyouko won’t budge from this one.
Madoka, Sayaka and Kyouko all turn to Mami when she remains silent for too long.
“It can’t be help then.” Mami shrugs. “If Kyouko is adamant to kill this Witch, then we should leave it to her. She was the one to discover it after all.”
When Kyouko whoop and cheer, Sayaka went ahead to scold her. But their relationship had progress to a stage where they could banter easily with no hard feelings involve, so Madoka is at ease.
Homura, however, is not as it slightly deter from the script but she wisely keeps it to herself.
Homura’s day went wrong when Madoka sweetly offer, “I still have some Grief Seeds on me, so I’m more than happy to help Sakura-san out!”
“Madoka - ” Homura automatically begin, she would rather have Madoka reserve her magic but luckily Kyouko beats her to it.
“Aww, it’s fine Kaname-san. I’m a big girl, ya know? I can’t handle one Witch.” Kyouko assured her with a bright smile that’s enough to dissipate Madoka’s worries. “Beside, you guys have been working hard these past few nights hunting Witches. You guys deserve a break for once.”
“I can’t argue with that...” Mami ruefully reply. The girls all decide to leave this Witch to Kyouko’s capable hands and was about to make their way home (with Mami escorting them back even if she didn’t have to) when the door to the Witch’s Labyrinth suddenly flings open. Light, colours, myriad of voices and music flood out from the shop.
“D-Did the Witch realised we’re here already!?” Sayaka said through gritted teeth. The corrupted Magic that’s spilling from the door is overwhelming, trying to pull the girls inside.
“That can’t be!” Kyouko retort with her spear already in hand and stab to the ground to anchor her. Her other hand is gripping Sayaka’s to hold her steady in place. “A Witch only have absolute reign in its Labyrinth. Not in the real world!”
The Magic then began to slowly drag their feet towards the door. Madoka, who is the closest to Homura, touch her Soul Gem. Homura didn’t want her to fight, she’d rather deal with the Witch herself.
“Madoka, wait!” Homura shouted and lunge to grab her. Her Shield is already on her arm despite that she’s still in her school uniform. She just needed to freeze time and then -
“Now this is interesting. This doesn’t feel like a Witch’s magic at all.” Perch on top of the many lamp post and unbothered by the overwhelming magic is Kyuubey. The Incubator blink its pink, beady eyes before jumping down and landed beside Homura.
“You - You’re not needed here!” Homura hissed viciously.
“Look carefully through the door there, Akemi Homura. Doesn’t that look like a mirror?” Kyuubey instruct in a pleasant tone that irked the girl.
“What are you - ”
“Akemi-san, look! There’s a mirror!” Mami’s urgent voice snapped Homura to attention.
Indeed. There’s a black mirror inside the shop, floating in air.
“Is that how the Witch noticed us!?” Kyouko is already brandishing her spear to throw it straight through the mirror.
Before any of the Magical Girls could do anything, the mirror forcefully yank them towards it and swallow them whole. Silence descend on the streets.
Homura fought to stay awake but the magic lull her to close her eyes and sleep.
-
“Did.. did a mirror just appear from the ceiling and spat out... girls?” An unfamiliar, incredulous voice was what stirred Homura up. Something feels off.
When Homura open her eyes and realise that she and her friends are surrounded by people in strange robes staring at them as if they were aliens, a man wearing a mask and a mirror with a green face floating in it, she immediately went for the offence.
She withdraws a gun from her Shield and aim straight at the masked man standing beside the mirror, her eyes never waver away from the crowd in robes in front of her. With a quick glance underneath her, Madoka and the rest are still unconscious before focusing on the enigma of this world and something in her whisper that she should hold the masked man accountable.
“Where are we?” Homura demanded in the calmest voice she could muster, her finger is light as a feather against the trigger. The scripts has gone completely off the rail. “Who are you people?”
“Well now, I think that would be my question!” The masked man rebuked. Homura’s ears picked up the dumbstruck and lividness in his tone. “Really... a mirror suddenly summoned in the middle of the dorm sorting ceremony and you girls interrupted it!”
A bullet wheeze past by the masked man’s head, only grazing a lock of his hair. Just like that, the crowd is silent. Finally realise the strange and uneasy atmosphere that curtains them, courtesy of one Magical Girl.
“I won’t ask again.” She threatens. Her eyes narrowed when a few of the people in front of her shifted. A short boy with red hair and a bespectacled boy with a beauty mark on his lower lip. She studied them warily and they did the same towards her. The fingers twitch to a small... pen? The red and grey gems will become her targets if they so much as move.
“Geez... the situation suddenly turn dangerous.” A voice said through a floating tablet. He sounds meek and scared.
Murmurs follow soon after. She's losing control on the situation.
“Well?” Homura pressed and this time, she aims the gun right between the masked man’s eyes. Adults in strange coloured clothings that stood behind the mirror with the green face slowly tried to separate Homura from the crowd. Their expressions severe and cautious.
They don’t feel like familiars. This strange room doesn’t feel like a product of a Witch’s magic. What’s worse, Kyuubey is nowhere in sight.
“Young Miss, I don’t know what you’re trying to pull here but you’re in the prestigious Night Raven College. Did you and your friends forcefully unlock your coffins?” The masked man asked, with his hands on his hips like a scolding parent yet tentative when addressing Homura after her warning shot.
“Night Raven... College? Coffins?” Homura repeated, growing confused by the minute. She’s never heard such institution before!
Her gun lowered slightly when she caught pieces of conversations floating from the crowd.
“... a mistake? Night Raven College is an all-boys school after all.”
“We woken up every first year students before coming here. There’s no way we could missed them!”
“So they somehow broke out from the coffins on their own earlier?”
“...that in her hand? It looks some kind of weapon but I’ve never seen anything like it...” That came from the floating tablet.
“It happened so fast that headmaster couldn’t even react! Whatever that thing is, it’s dangerous.” The short redhead boy added, his fingers nearly brushing his red gem now.
“Where is Mitakihara City?” Homura asked instead.
The masked man titled his head at her question. “Mita... what? There’s no such city with a name like that. Did the mirror where you came from malfuction? And what’s with your clothing, Young Lady? Is that supposed to be a school uniform?”
This is bad. Nothing makes sense. “Students of this college would already be wearing their ceremonial robes the moment they step out of their coffins.” The masked man continued, oblivious to Homura’s concern. The other Magical Girls remain sleeping. It’s up to her to get them out safely or try to figure out what’s going on.
This couldn’t be the incubator’s game.
Homura pulls her gun back and relax her shoulders just a little. Enough to show that she’s calm and not going to attack any time soon. “A college you say? My friends and I were forcefully pulled in through a mirror and then I woke up here. Tell me, are we even on Earth?”
Now the masked man is perplexed. “Earth? I’ve never heard such a word before! Why, this is Twisted Wonderland!”
Homura bit her lower lip to prevent herself from calling the masked man out as a liar. She doesn’t have any prove or any information that the man is joking after all.
Homura comfort herself by tugging on her magic and grip her gun. Good. She still has her full arsenals and useful items as well as her magic is in its peak form.
Her mind is racing now. If one wants information, one must offer their piece first, yes?
“I believe there’s been a... mishap. My friends and I aren’t from here. We came from a place call Mitakihara City. Twisted Wonderland doesn’t exist for us.” Homura begins. That should suffice for now.
The floating tablet floated near Homura although there is still some distance between them. “A-Are you serious!? A bunch of girls literally isekai’ed into Night Raven College!? I can’t believe this is actually happening! My manga is a reality!”
Homura is taken aback at the sudden enthusiastic voice. Truly not expecting a 180 from his previous meek tone.
“Eh? Another world? Did you and your friends came from another world!?” A white haired boy with ruby eyes intervenes. Despite how odd the situation is now that he said it out loud, he’s excited about the notion.
“It would seem so...” Homura murmus. If this is meant to be a college then the crowd must be students and adults here are their teachers. There’s magic lingering in the air. It’s unfamiliar to Homura but it’s magic nonetheless.
“The sorting ceremony must continue on.” The mirror with the face boomed. Its voice deep and unsettling. The masked man react accordingly to it.
“Yes, yes, we musn’t dawdle! Now then Young Miss, if you’d be so kind to help bring your unconscious friends here beside me so that the others students could - ”
“Step forth you who have mastered time and space.” The mirror with the face ordered.
Another silence descend the room before the white haired boy with red eyes shattered it.
“So they ARE students! This is so exciting, isn’t it Jamil? We never had students from another world before!” The boy exclaim with a beaming smile. Somehow, his smile reminded Homura of Madoka’s when she’s in a really good mood.
“We still don’t know what’s really going on, Kalim.” A boy with complex, braided hair chastise him. Though it doesn’t deter his friend’s excitement at all. “After all, she was willing to attack the headmaster.”
“I’m sure it’s just a misunderstanding! Won’t you be confused and scared too if you’re suddenly teleported to a strange land, Jamil?” The white haired boy countered before shooing Homura to the mirror behind her. “Go see what the Mirror of Darkness has to say! Maybe it could help you.”
The masked man sigh. “I guess it can’t be help. Young Miss, please address the mirror properly.”
Homura tucked the gun back into her Shield and slowly turn around. The mirror with the face doesn’t strike fear in her like Kyuubey or Walpurgisnacht do, so she slowly padded towards it.
And thus begin the Holy Quintet role as students in the world of Twisted Wonderland right after each one of the girls has been sorted.
-
The next continuation will be dorm sorting! It was a little tough trying to sort 5 of them when there are 7 dorms but I have a idea how to get around this. Hope I did Homura justice and you guys enjoyed this piece. I adore crossovers!
A big shoutout to @twsted-caramel (I hope it’s ok to tag you here) for giving me the big inspiration. Please check out their crossover of KNY and TW pieces! It’s amazing!)

Ranking my favorite characters of each of my favorite animes / mangas
For the record: I don't own any of the following artworks bellow. All the credit go for their own original artists
Top 10: Olivier Mira Armstrong (Fullmetal Alchemist)
Olivier Mira Armstrong (オリヴィエ・ミラ・アームストロング, Orivie Mira Āmusutorongu), also known as Major General Armstrong is the primary heir to the illustrious Armstrong family, the commanding officer charged with the protection of Amestris' northern border at Fort Briggs and the older sister of Alex Louis Armstrong. Olivier is a severe woman who has a fearsome and commanding presence where she is harsh with her subordinates and peers and coldly merciless to her enemies, the deceptively beautiful woman's schadenfreude has earned her the nickname "Ice Queen" among the Briggs soldiers. Sharp-tongued and highly combative, Olivier is no stranger to furious chastisements and bursts of fiery violence, especially toward those who fail to live up to her high standards and staunch adherence to the "survival of the fittest" philosophy.
Top 9: Mikasa Ackerman (Attack On Titan)
Mikasa Ackerman (ミカサ・アッカーマン Mikasa Akkāman) is the adoptive sister of Eren Yeager and one of the two deuteragonists of the series, along with Armin Arlert.
After her biological parents were murdered by human traffickers, Mikasa was rescued by Eren Yeager and lived with him and his parents, Grisha and Carla, before the fall of Wall Maria. Though she desires only to live a peaceful life, Mikasa entered into the military—where she is considered the best soldier among the 104th Training Corps. She later enlists in the Survey Corps to follow and protect Eren, becoming one of its greatest assets. She is currently serving as an officer (上官 Jōkan) in the Corps. Mikasa cares deeply for her friends and caretakers, seeing them as the last remnants of a family she cannot afford to lose. Mikasa also appears to have a soft spot for children, and she has a strong sense of right and wrong, doing everything she can to make her most impulsive friends to follow what she thinks is the right track. Despite that, she knows well that she cannot always sway them in decisions and makes it a point to follow them whenever they go, just so that she can be around to help out when trouble arises.
Top 8: Kamina (Gurren Lagann)
Kamina (カミナ, Kamina) was a young man from Jeeha Village, the founder and first leader of Team Gurren and deuteragonist of the first arc of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. At first glance, Kamina is boisterous, hotheaded and arrogant. He demands recognition and seems hungry for greatness, illustrated in his tendency to call himself "the Mighty Kamina" and his signature catchphrase, "Just who the Hell do you think I am?!" He is an undeterred idealist, often to the point of ignorance; Yoko has described him as "a man of unlimited stupidity." Kamina is also very perverted, declaring that the urge to stare at beautiful women is the definition of a man.
However, Kamina is also extremely determined and never lets anything keep him down for long. Even discovering that his father was dead only made him solemn for a night or two (visibly at least). He is also devoted to defending and supporting his friends and loved ones, fighting with all his strength to protect them. In turn, he is very charismatic in the heat of battle, able to inspire even the timid Simon to accomplish great feats and almost single-handedly set the foundations for Team Dai-Gurren.
Despite his often brazen and practically insane actions, Kamina is fairly insightful, as his bombast and seemingly blind confidence usually mask his true intelligence in planning and combat. He even personally admits that his bravado and fearlessness is mostly a device he uses to hide his own worries and to support others, and that he thinks people like Simon are the real heroes.
Top 7: Sebas Tian (Overlord)
Sebas Tian (セバス・チャン), alas "The Iron Butler", is the head butler of the Great Tomb of Nazarick with several manservants and other butlers under his command. He was created by Touch Me. He is also the leader of the Pleiades Six Stars.
Although he is not one of the Floor Guardians, his power closely rivals theirs. In a way, he is independent of their chain of command. He originally served as Nazarick's last line of defense alongside the Pleiades on the 9th Floor, to give time for the guild, Ainz Ooal Gown, to prepare for their final stand in the Throne Room. Like his creator, Touch Me, Sebas Tian has a great deal of personal justice. Unlike many other denizens in Nazarick, he does not completely despise humans or see them as inferior creatures. Instead, he believes that some humans are good people and it is the duty of the strong to protect the weak. However, humans with an ugly nature disgust him and he will not hesitate to kill anyone who dares to oppose Nazarick. Sebas has a stoic nature, but also tends to question his own actions whether it was right or wrong of him to do them contrary to his master's order. Not sure why he does it, Sebas does believe that Touch Me's will is what encouragingly motivates him to act the way he does and that it conflicts with the will of his current master.
Top 6: Brago (Gash Bell)
Brago (ブラゴ, Burago), alongside his partner and bookkeeper Sherry Belmont, are considered the rivals of the main characters Zatch Bell and Kiyo Takamine, even though the teams fought a relatively small amount of times. Since their first appearance, they were one of the most powerful teams in the series, and have been seen burning more spellbooks than any other one. Brago is very quiet and is rarely seen socializing with other mamodos, he is often described as being "strong and cool". He is often seen crossing his arms or sticking them in his pockets. Not much is revealed about his life or personality, other than he resents weakness and especially requiring a human's help to win the demon kingship. However, despite often complaining that Sherry is too weak to help him, he thanks her for all that she has done for him in the final battle. He is extremely strong, often defeating other mamodo teams without even requiring the use of spells; because of his strength, which was gained from undergoing special elite training, many mamodo have come to fear him as one of the strongest. Brago's specialty is Gravity Magic.
Top 5: Guts (Berserk)
Guts (ガッツ Gattsu) , renowned as the "Black Swordsman", is a former mercenary and branded wanderer who travels the world in a constant internal struggle between pursuing his own ends and protecting those dear to him.
At one time driven solely by his will to survive, Guts finds purpose in life upon joining the Band of the Falcon, greatly helping in the faction's storied successes during the Hundred-Year War as captain of the band's raiders. He eventually becomes dissatisfied with clinging on to Griffith's dream, and departs from the band in pursuit of his own. Following the horrors of the Eclipse prompted by Griffith, Guts embarks on a two-year war against the God Hand and apostles, becoming increasingly embittered on his one-track quest for retribution. He in time realizes protecting his regressed lover is more important to him, as well as something he cannot do alone, and thus seemingly abandons his quest for revenge while fostering camaraderie with his new companions. Known for his air of austerity, Guts is a gruff, cynical man holding an overall bleak outlook on life. This is a consequence of enduring waves of suffering and numerous betrayals since his youth, with nearly all highlights of his life having, in time, become lows. In spite of his guarded, brooding exterior, he shows a more easygoing, compassionate side around the people he trusts, appearing markedly less unsociable and distant, though still retaining his dry candidness. Even as his inner darkness festers deep within him and its temptation becomes increasingly harder to resist, he retains his empathy and compassion, refusing to completely discard his humanity.
Top 4: Akemi Homura (Puella Magi Madoka Magica)
Homura Akemi (暁美 ほむら Akemi Homura) is one of the main characters in the Puella Magi Madoka Magica series. Ever since her arrival at Mitakihara Middle School, Homura is immediately depicted as being very intelligent, athletic, distant, and cold. It is revealed in episode four that she is only like this because she has seen so much suffering during her tenure as a magical girl. Because of this, she does not want Madoka Kaname to become a magical girl and tries to do anything in order to stop her from making a wish with Kyubey, going as far as to attempt to injure and even kill the cat-like creature. Despite her cold attitude towards others, she still very much cares for Madoka, as it is her sole objective to protect her due to the countless amount of blood, sweat, and tears she has shed over her jumps in time. Despite being regarded as emotionless by Sayaka Miki, Homura is far from it. Although she does not easily show signs of remorse, sadness, or pity, it is only because she had grown used to the suffering around her, and must put up a strong front to continue fighting for her goal. Homura herself has stated that she always feels badly with each life she's unable to save or alter, but nevertheless, it does not slow her down from staying true to her main objective in saving Madoka Kaname.
Top 3: Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez (Bleach)
Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez (グリムジョー・ジャガージャック, Gurimujō Jagājakku) is an Arrancar and was the Sexta (6th) Espada in Sōsuke Aizen's affiliated army. While appearing to be a laid-back individual, Grimmjow possesses a brutal, impulsive, and excessively violent personality alongside a lethally short temper. However, despite his aggression and obvious blood lust in battle, Grimmjow possesses a feral cunning and has a knack for quickly exploiting any opening his opponent reveals. In addition, he is blunt, sarcastic and quite sadistic, revealing a psychotic grin or laughing maniacally whenever he becomes excited. He is also very rude and quite disrespectful. Grimmjow uses none of the honorifics in the Japanese language, except when addressing Aizen (though he is quick to discard the formality when Aizen is not around), and refers to Orihime Inoue as woman in conversation. Grimmjow displays little respect for authority and says whatever is on his mind, regardless of whether or not it is appropriate. However, he does have some form of a code of honor, as he is unwilling to fight an injured Ichigo, bringing Orihime to heal him beforehand so that their battle will be a fair one, though he also wants to defeat Ichigo when he is at full strength. He also saves Orihime from Loly Aivirrne and Menoly Mallia, who were beating her up, to repay the debt of restoring his arm, though he immediately demands another favor afterwards.
Top 2: Kujo Jotaro (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure)
Jotaro Kujo (空条 承太郎 , Kūjō Jōtarō) is the protagonist of Part 3 and also appears in Parts 4-6. Jotaro is the third and most recurring JoJo of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure series.
Jotaro is a delinquent who lives an ordinary life until the Joestar Family's old enemy, DIO, returns. Jotaro travels to Egypt in order to save his mother and stop the Vampire once and for all.
Wielding the incredibly powerful Star Platinum, Jotaro is the first JoJo introduced with a Stand, and is among the most well-known characters of the series. Jotaro is introduced as a rough delinquent, but he has a gentle heart, and is loyal to those he likes. He is highly perceptive, intelligent and quick-witted while keeping a perpetually cool, slightly neutral or disinterested attitude. Jotaro's most noticeable trait is his seemingly aloof nature. He is a quiet individual, often satisfied with expressing himself in short phrases. While he was shown to be mildly anxious when something unanticipated happens, Jotaro almost never goes as far as to lose his cool.
Top 1: Charlotte Katakuri (One Piece)
Charlotte Katakuri ( シャーロット・カタクリ , Shārotto Katakuri) is the second son and third child of the Charlotte Family and the elder triplet brother of Daifuku and Oven. He is also one of the Three Sweet Commanders of the Big Mom Pirates and serves as Totto Land's Minister of Flour (粉大臣, Kona Daijin), governing over Komugi Island.
Due to his actions and role, he is the secondary antagonist in the second half of the Whole Cake Island Arc. Katakuri has a very serious, no-nonsense demeanor, caring greatly about his crew and family's objectives. With his heightened Kenbunshoku Haki allowing him to see a little bit into the future and make smart judgement calls, he is dedicated to efficiently dealing with all possible threats within his vicinity, and is thus among the few Charlotte children that can be seen taking action without instructions from Big Mom herself. Katakuri is a pragmatic individual who puts efficiency above almost everything else, to the point of being considered a perfectionist. He rarely brags about his abilities, instead being rather focused on accomplishing his goals as fast as possible, intercepting and defeating his enemies in a quick, effective manner while prioritizing the elimination of threats he perceives as potentially serious, going as far as taking extra steps to ensure they are stopped in case his mother and siblings fail to do so. He is also capable of extreme brutality as shown when he pondered on how he should maim Luffy with his trident. Though ruthless to opponents, he is extremely caring towards his family and subordinates. Katakuri is also a honorable man who dislikes other people interfering with his fights. Though he considers Luffy his enemy and desires to eliminate him personally before he can become a threat, he wishes to defeat him fairly. After discovering that Flampe was the one attacking Luffy and lowering his performance in the fight, Katakuri injured himself in the same spot he injured Luffy to compensate and angrily shouted at Flampe for interfering in his fight.

In response to your little rant about Homura's depiction in Rebellion, here's this.
"The end of Rebellion is... controversial, but let's unpack what happened here. What occurred?
Well, firstly, Homura was traumatized and tortured; the Homura at the end of Rebellion is not the Homura of PMAS; she's gone through trauma and loss that PMAS!Homura can't even conceive of. She literally turned into a fucking witch because Kyubey gaslit her into thinking she made up Madoka Kaname, according to Wraith Arc.
Then, during this process, she learns two important facts that fucks her worldview: 1) Madoka didn't want to leave her loved ones and give up her normal life if she had any other alternative, and 2) Kyubey is trying to destroy the Law of Cycles (that is, Madoka Kaname), and has figured out a means of stopping her from interacting with Magical Girls under controlled lab conditions, meaning they could eventually succeed in their objective.
That means if Homura let herself go into the Law of Cycles, she would be unable to protect Madoka, and the Incubators would eventually destroy her. Madoka will have been erased and forgotten with nothing to show for it. Homura could only cope with everything with the promise of being reunited with her and the solace that Madoka's sacrifice was worth it, and Kyubey took that away from her.
And, more importantly: Homura's wish had yet to come true. Homura's wish wasn't to be with Madoka, or to save the world. It was to protect Madoka. To be the one to protect her.
To put it in other terms, Homura was self-loathing to the point of suicide-ideation because she was worthless, good for nothing, a burden on everyone. That she should just die. Madoka saw worth in her, and tried to change that, but Madoka died.
Only one person in her entire life ever told Homura she was happy to have met her and this wonderful, kind, happy, heroic, courageous, beautiful, miracle of a person who walked into her life to tell her those words died.
DIED. FOR. HER.
Died to protect her. Died so that a worthless piece of SHIT like herself could live. Someone who had EVERYTHING in the world died with a smile to protect someone who didn't even want to. Not without her.
Not instead of her.
She was good for nothing before and now her mere existence caused the best person she'd ever known to die. She ruined Madoka's entire life by having been a part of it.
She has to fix it. She has the chance to.
She wishes, wishes, WISHES to go back, to unfuck this, to undo this, to be cool like Madoka said she could have been. To protect her. To be her shield. To be WORTH something because she protected something valuble. To pay her back for all her kindness like she'd never been able to do and finally, finally in her life, have done something that justifies everything else.
She didn't wish for Madoka to live. She didn't wish for her to be saved. She wished to be the one to save her so she could support her and reinvent herself as someone who isn't a garbage shit person.
And every single time, she fails.
No matter what she does. No matter how she compromises herself. No matter what disgusting sins she does (and she never crosses so many lines that she says she WOULD cross). Madoka keeps dying.
And most of those times. She dies for Homura. She dies, again, for Homura. She dies again and again and again and again in order to help Homura.
Until the very last time, she wishes to save Homura (and everyone else), so much that she never existed at all.
Dammit. Dammit. DAMMIT. DAMMIT. This is worse this is WORSE THIS IS WORRRRSE!
But she still tries to cope. Madoka's in heaven. She's saving everyone. Madoka had a smile. The world is BETTER, and she'll see her again.
Until the above happened. And Kyubey is going to destroy Madoka Kaname. She won't have ever been born and she won't even be saving Magical Girls. She'll truly be nothing.
Because she came to save Homura, fucking AGAIN.
And all this time she still never saved her. Never ONCE saved her. Not a single time has she ever, ever, EVER fucking saved her. Not ever, has she ever saved her, not even when Madoka made her final fucking wish.
Homura made a wish that never came true. So she never stopped being Good for Nothing. She has never made up for Madoka's kindness. She has never, emotionally, left that moment where she sobbed over Madoka's dead corpse in the water and the rain. And she's done that so many fucking times.
So that's her mindset. So when she saw the chance. She took it. If you can interact with Madoka, you can effect Madoka. So.
God dammit. Fucking for once. Fucking finally. This time, her last chance she'll EVER HAVE... she will save her.
Save Madoka Kaname. Not a vague concept. Not a hero. Not a law or a god. Not a cosmic idea. Madoka. KANAME. The person who smiled at her and said she was cool. The person who helped her buy a cellphone. The kind, wonderful person who loved and named a stray cat and pressed her face to hers and laughed and congratulated her for her accomplishments. The person who said that meeting Homura was her happiest memory.
Why can't this person, of all people, be happy? All Madoka Kaname wanted was to live her fucking life. With her family. With her friends and classmates. Living her day to day life which wasn't anything special but it was so special to her.
She WILL save her. Goddammit, she failed so many times because she always kept holding herself back but if this is her last chance then GODDAMMIT fuck it all, damn herself too.
She never cared, really, about being with Madoka. She was willing to die for her. She explicitly had plans to leave the town to Kyouko after Walpurgisnacht and LEAVE (probably to kill herself so her Witch didn't come for Madoka). She was going to die for her in Rebellion so that she'd be safe from the Incubators.
If she could save her, if she can finally succeed and protect that human smile living her human life, it's fine if Homura Akemi isn't a part of it. If Madoka can smile, she doesn't have to smile at her anymore. That's PERFECTLY FINE.
So she did it. She stole a piece of the Law of Cycles. Not a big piece. Not the Law, or the Power, or the Salvation. The Law of Cycles still functions in some sense, because there's still no Witches, there's still Wraiths, there's still Angels.
She stole "Madoka Kaname", the human being that the Goddess used to be. She stole her, yes. She took over the universe, yes. But what did she do?
She made it so Madoka Kaname existed, again. Reunited with everyone she cared about. She gave Kyouko, Mami, Sayaka, and everyone else the happiest lives she could give them without undoing their pasts (disrespecting their agency and core selves), even if it was only to keep Madoka happy in her silver garden.
She tortures Kyubey but no one's crying tears over that fucker. She seems to be letting the world run its course as naturally as possible, save for suppressing people's memories of what's really going on.
Sayaka, alive. Nagisa, alive. Living with Kyouko and Mami respectively. Madoka, alive.
Hell, the only change she made that we know of to Madoka's memories is three years in America.
Because, canonically, English is Madoka's worst subject.
And now, she's great at it.
No matter what it takes. Madoka Kaname will be happy. She deserves it. And Homura will make that happen, even if she, herself, never is.
But yeah go off about how Homura is a yandere stalker who likes to kill people."
Hey there! I thank you for your post and your insight, and I wanted to clarify that I don't disagree at all with this view of Rebellion and how it ended. I think it is all correct, actually. The problem I have with it is 1. Rebellion existing at all, and 2. the way they portrayed her choice as an act of evil conceived by a demon.
To begin with, there are a few details that I don't think really make sense considering how pmmm worked. Homura shouldn't even be a witch, first of all. Secondly, even though she cannot know for sure, I don't think Homura would have willingly told Kyubey about the world of before if there were any danger. Heck, I don't even understand how Kyubey could possibly have stolen Madoka, now that she is not an entity but a literal concept, a rule of the universe. Imo that is beyond absurd. Third, I am doubtful Homura would have gone against Madoka's wish, even though I totally understand why she did in the context of Rebellion.
The problem I have with Homura is that people thought about her as a yandere emotionless stalker who has an unhealthy obsession with Madoka even before Rebellion existed. That was a popular sentiment, and the big, big problem I have with this film is that while what she did isn't inherently bad or wrong - as you explained - the movie paints her as a LITERAL DEMON in the moment she makes that choice, and ALSO at the exact same time she declares her love canonically. That is so fucked up in so so so many ways. As not literal it may be, they gave her that creepy smile, and show that Madoka is confused in her new bubble and feels like she is someone else but can't remember why. And Homura brushes it off. As wonderful as it is that she is there, Madoka is uncomfortable, Sayaka is obviously enraged and Homura plays the part of the Evil Character.
This is just all so unfair and so wrong. It doesn't only negate the way this anime ended - and of course Homura deserved to go with peace and quiet like everyone else. No magical girl has to ever suffer like that again, including Madoka, right? (There were so many ways to reunite her with Madoka, but no.) It also visibly paints Homura as being on the dark side, and validates the horrific lens people saw her character through even before the film. It canonizes her as a lesbian in the same moment she is doing something clearly framed as wrong, and, on a surface level, reinforces her obsession. This is just a textbook predatory lesbian trope. I am sorry if you don't see it the same way, but it is just horrific to me.
I will never agree with Rebellion existing. I cannot stand the ending of this anime being undone and Homura being punched in the face and further tortured both in universe and as a character, after all the crap she went through. It is just disrespectful.
And as I said, she deserved better.

COME LOOKIE PAW I CAUGHT ONE!
*ahem*
A quick giant rundown!!!!
Mami is a well-todo 15yr old girl of the 80s. She is very much in love with her Real Actual Explicitly Romantic Girlfriend Kyoko.
Mamis father is a medical scientist, currently working on a project to create synthetic organs and tissues for ailing people. He has recently teamed his efforts with an engineer with an affinity for Purple. I do not remember if purple guy made the animatronics but in my defense we recast who purple guy is believed to be every year.
Kyoko's father runs a very liberal unorthodox church, that believes in blasphemous things like Gay Is Okay and Abortion Is Not Murder
People murder Kyokos family over this
Mami finds her gfs church burning down, Kyoko the only one still alive- but severely burned and not hanging around for long
Kyoko stops breathing before they get to the hospital, and Mamis father, in panic and sympathy for his hysterical daughter, takes her into his lab and hooks her up on life support, he sets to calcifying her insides and rebuilding her bodyfunctions from the inside out.
The result is calcified balljointed skin and a brain full of electrified wire. Kyoko wakes up stoic and moving stiffly, slowly relearning how to articulate and react. The only semblance of her old self is being able to identify Mami, giving her joy and hope, and Mamis father severe anxiety.
Mamis father is secretly horrified at his frankensteinish recreation of a dead girl, he cancels his research afraid of what people might do if they could become completely synthetic, sentient machines. His engineering partner however, suggests ways to keep his discoveries from going to waste- by using them for entertainment purposes
Mostly headed by his partner, the Tomoe family opens a family restaurant business, quickly becoming renown for its state of the art animatronic technology, and by children for its adorable red showgirl
Mamis parents are killed in a sudden accident, leaving her as heiress to the business accompanied only by her stoic, ribbon covered stage singer girlfriend, and the creepy animatronic mechanic
Children start going missing
Mami discovers her fathers old partner has trained her undead android girlfriend to kidnap and murder children in addition to song and dance. Mami thinks thats fucked up
Dude turns on Mami but Kyoko kills him first.
Mami shuts down the business in grief and becomes a recluse, as some time passes she becomes unable to even confide in her girlfriend, now ex as Mami grows up and Kyokos left unaging with an electric brain that can only learn whats programmed, which would be creepy otherwise
A few years later, Madoka Kaname and timid Homura Akemi break into the closed down business. Homuras fondest childhood memories are of this establishment, and Madoka loves Homura very much.
Mami never figured out how to unteach Kyoko how to murder unattended children
Madoka is dead, as Mami frantically apologizes and scolds RoboKyoko and apologizes for the scolded RoboKyoko, Homura figures out what RoboKyoko is, she begs Mami to make Madoka the same. Mami can't pretend she hasn't learned the technology for different motives.
As she slowly rebuilds Madoka, Homura resigns herself to the same fate. She volunteers herself to become as Madoka will so she might always look after her.
Madoka reanimates somewhat more vacant and robotic then Kyoko, she learns the showtunes quickly though. In contrast, Homura is distressingly more aware, though discernably focussed on her only desire to keep Madoka safe. Mayhaps a side effect of being changed when both alive and knowing what was to come.
Considerably more traumatized now, Mami concludes that these girls need something to do with themselves. She reopens the restaurant.
She hires a security guard for the nightshift
Sayaka needed a summer job to distract her from her teenage angst and was pretty willing to work just for free pizza
The animatronics walking around at night and really wanting to get into her office is a great distraction
Sayaka isn't scared of ghosts nor death at this point though so she eventually confronts them. They just want to play with her. They're very lonely in the dark.
Sayaka suddenly recognizes Madoka as a missing girl at her school from a few months back. Sayaka is aware of the missing children rumors back when the place shut down in 87 and connects some dots.
Mami is here to relieve Sayaka of her post
Kyoko has learned that Murder Is Bad.
She stops Mami from harming Sayaka and forces the girls to come to a truce amongst their arguing. Sayaka has to promise not to tell the police about Mamis zombie performers and Mami not to kill her.
They're both lying
Mami leaves to let Sayaka find her way out. Going to the control room she *accidentally* triggers a security door Sayaka was just then walking through
But swiftly after, Homura prys the door open, and Kyoko lifts the unconsious girl and carries her to the lab. All while a ballet dancing Madoka pirouettes after them singing how everythings going to be alright.
Homura gets to saving the nearly eviscerated Sayaka.
Mami is confronted by Kyokos blankly staring face and does not interfere.
Sayaka is given a beautiful sparkling tail, and begrudgingly Mami installs a gel pool into the pirate themes play area. Though she does manage to communicate to Homura that Sayakas voicebox is much too dangerous to carry over
The building reopens the next week, though pirate bay is closed until they can be sure their new member can behave.
Sayaka is not stoic or stiff, she stays put and behaves largely out of the Depression
Mami does not advertise for another night guard
She gets saddled with one though. Two actually, this angry rich girl is very persuasive but really wants her dull boyfriend to be there to help her out.
Hitomi wants to find out what happened to Sayaka.
Kyosuke does not want to be here.
Djjsisjdisishdisus K THERE WE GO
I'll probably draw shit and update with it + a readmore later lmao
Cliffhanger there so I'm not spoiling the entIRE story if I wanna do anything for it later lmao

5. Attack on Titan (2013)

To ensure their survival, the remnants of humanity began living within defensive barriers, resulting in one hundred years without a single titan encounter. However, that fragile calm is soon shattered when a colossal titan manages to breach the supposedly impregnable outer wall, reigniting the fight for survival against the man-eating abominations.
After witnessing a horrific personal loss at the hands of the invading creatures, Eren Yeager dedicates his life to their eradication by enlisting into the Survey Corps, an elite military unit that combats the merciless humanoids outside the protection of the walls. However, Homura Akemi, a magical girl herself, urges them not to accept the offer, stating that everything is not what it seems.
A story of hope, despair, and friendship, Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica deals with the difficulties of being a magical girl and the price one has to pay to make a dream come true.

lil thing since i tumbled into the candeloro wiki, nd then tumbled further into the ophelia wiki.
In the months following their victory over the dreaded Walpurgis Nacht, the city of Mitikahara underwent intensive reconstruction development for all of the landmarks and establishments that were consumed in the storm. Despite the obvious tragedy the destruction wrought upon the civilians it also allowed the city to refurbish the once defunct and derelict factories and yards that were abandoned after the great boom of technological advancements. Amongst these new city plans was the demolishment and reconstruction of Mitikahara Middle School and transforming the evangelical education facility into a hybrid middle/high school.
Which was why the Holy Quintet Plus-Maybe-Two-Or-Three were lounging about in Akemi Homura's old ass apartment instead of Mami's apartment - too small - or the Kaname residence - got a bit trashed. The ultra-hyper modern interior was replaced with the European aesthetics the complex was designed with, the null white now shut off along with the many monitors and looming pendulum, Akemi's projector tucked safely away in her hammerspace shield. Leaning back into the god-awful couch cushions on the floor was the owner of the apartment and one pink strawberry, cuddling together as if they were the only people in the world. In the kitchen that branched off of the large living room were Mami and the little munchkin in Bebe form, baking cakes and preparing tea with the limited supplies in the cabinets and fridge. Lounging on top of the uncomfortable seats were a fish and her lovely spitfire, dozing off into the realm of dreams. Or at least, one of them was.
Sakura Kyouko was currently staring at the individual currently sitting on the other couch across from the quad couch potatoes. Currently dressed in the largest of Homura's sweatshirts and pajama pants was the girl who definitely-probably-most-likely was the magical girl who became the terrifying monstrosity known as Walpurgisnacht. They called her Walpy for short. In the girl's hands were a hooked staff of some sort and a much larger than usual grief seed; the physical form of Walpy's once pure soul gem, warped by her own grief and despair. They've all come to terms with their inevitable fates as magical girls but had yet to truly accept it until they met two very impossible anomalies - Homura's words, not hers!
Glancing down at the pillow that she was resting on, Kyouko looked at the sleepy girl who reminded her of what she could've been in another life, of a girl who had such a strong sense of right and wrong, a girl who was too tenacious and arrogant, ignorant of the harsh realities of the cruel world they lived in. The girl that made her life feel like it had purpose once more, the girl that she was certain that she loved with all of her very being. She thought of how Homura broke down how she would always make sure that she spent every second with Sayaka at her side so that they'd never be alone again, even into the afterlife.
And then she got thinking.
Homura confided in them about her wish, about how she had lived the same six weeks over and over again for probably around a good five years (a very horrifying experience she was sure warped the girl, as evident by how fragile and soft she looked next to her lil' pinkie) and she's most definitely seen some shit. So, she decided to play the dumb, fiery redhead card and open her mouth.
"Hey, Homs?"
Stirring from her position on the floor, cracking an eye open and turning her head towards the crimson girl, Homura gave her a look that said her question better have been important.
"What were our witches like?"
The sounds of the kitchen stopped as silence swallowed them all. Madoka wrapped her arms around the time traveler, whispering sweet nothings and words of comfort. Sayaka's eyes snapped open and found their way to Kyouko's own which were, in turn, glancing between the girl on the floor and the front door down several halls. Walpy just clutched her staff and sent her grief seed back into her heart, the earring and insignia on her arm pulsing a dark aura once before settling and looked at the group wearily. A moment passed before Mami entered with a tray of tea in hand with Bebe lounging on her head, somehow conveying concern and worry with a blank face.
"... Do you want the serious answers or the funny ones?"
Okay, good, Kyouko hadn't unintentionally sent Homs spiraling into another cycle of despair and repentance. Sending a challenging smirk the redhead responded, "I dunno, I could always use some dirt on Tomoe. Just in case I need to whip her into shape."
Thankfully the mood was set and smiles blossomed on everyone's faces. What followed were a series of stories told by a time traveler who had as many experiences of the mundane variety as much as she had the tragic variety.
"There was once a time where Mami met Nagisa sometime before Kyouko had met Yuman. Eventually, there came a point where you two did as you have done now, and agreed to raise your surrogate "daughters" together."
Placing the tray on the shitty bolted-down table, Mami lifted the munchkin off her head and started to cradle her as a, well, baby.
"I would hope so. Sakura-chan may have her faults but being a loving sister-figure was something that was never in question. Isn't that right my sweet little Bebe~?" Playing along Charlotte sprung out of the doll's mouth to bite at the fingers pinching her cheek, before curling around her "mama" like a scarf. Content grumbling could be heard as Worm-lotte sent out her message of witch runes.
"She asked if she ever had to be a despicable little ragamuffin to whip either of them into shape." Walpy translated, a bemused smile growing on her face. Homura nodded her head back and thought about her many past experiences with the little heathens.
"There was a short time where Charlotte and Yuma thought of a way to prank the two of them into thinking they vanished; she set her labyrinth to hide in the trees at the park and they waited to see how long it'd take for you two to notice. Once you did, you both went into a near frenzy and soon hunted down every witch, familiar and magical girl in the vicinity. The little ragamuffin's in question teared up when they saw how worried they made the two veteran moms."
Pleased with herself Homura soaked up the giggles and guffaws of Madoka, Sayaka, and Walpy while the other "family of three" had embarrassed red faces and struggled not to laugh at themselves; 'cuz yeah Kyouko wouldn't lie to herself and not admit that she'd probably lose her shit with Mami too if that ever happened. Based on how tightly Mami was hugging Charlotte and the little whispers she caught between the two, they'd come to that conclusion too.
Stories of how Sayaka held rock concerts instead of orchestras, of how Kyouko would bend over backward to not harm a hair on the blueberry's hair, of how Mami would be the most harmless little doll until something made her lose her "guest", even the stories of how Homura had to pry miniature versions of Kriemhild in times when she confided in Madoka, they all had the girls giggling and smiling on this lazy afternoon.
Kyouko wouldn't trade this life for anything; she finally got to have happy dreams.
some fluff for now, until the plot thickens in DW AU. also u can totally expect witch shenanigans in Tamura stories now. hope u have a good day!
God I love wholesome stuff like this its fucking adorable

15th anniversary of our madness!
Yes, you read that right. Today, April 13th 2021, marks the 15th anniversary of when I was crazy enough to bring out the idea of a crazy roundrobin crossover on the Moony Witcher Forum.
When on that day, April 13th 2006, I made a post with the general idea for Mai Dire Fine I never thought I would be starting a saga that would be still ongoing 15 years later.
But here we are, with me and Aelit still working on its latest sequel of sorts, The World without Authors. Compared to back then, our writing skills improved a lot (Mai Dire Fine was not a good story) and, while there’s always more we can still learn, we are proud of our improvement.
So, where are we? We published recently the 10th chapter of The World without Authors, which is currently around 69.000 words – we’re already closing in towards Blank Sprite‘s length (77.000) and that’s just part of the first arc, Scattered Shards. Adding in the previous stories, we’re past 320.000 already.
Even with The World without Authors‘s “all-stars” cast, we still only have a total of five characters from Mai Dire Fine, only three of which (Sergio, Nikki and Kathleen) were part of the main cast as the other two (Faith and Virgilia) were introduced towards the end… well, technically there’s a sixth character, the mysterious “Professor”, but his identity is spoilers as of now. I believe there might be enough hints between The World without Authors and my older behind the scenes post for you to be able to guess his identity already, but the reveal is meant to be a nasty surprise that will set up the second and third arcs, Venezia Immortale and The Dove and the Crow. Yes, we’re planning (well… sort of planning) that far!
But enough of that, let’s head to the celebration specials!
Unfortunately, the Q&A session was a complete failure. We didn’t receive any question by the deadline, but the mailbox is still open! Feel free to ask us anything, we’ll make a Q&A post as soon as the question come in, and we’ll keep it updated every time new questions arrive.
We still have a few more goodies, though. The first is a bit of an experiment on my part, I took one of my early PPC missions, A Very Awkward Exorcism, alongside a couple scenes from the interlude set chronologically just before it, Planes, Guns, Clones and other usual PPC Stuff, and gave them a complete makeover into a comic. Yes, I made what I believe might be the first full PPC mission in comic form! You can download it in PDF format (Trigger warning for rape, contains some partial nudity) here. I hope you’ll enjoy it!
Another thing I made is a special anniversary illustration, in which our characters, and a few we borrowed, from all over our works enjoy some partying. With all the things happening due to the Unravel they deserve some off time, don’t you think?
Let’s start with the back row, left to right.
First one is Ai Minase, from Koikatu. She has the distinction of being the “adopted canon character” of The World Without Authors – while we have other canons working with Strike Dove, she’s the only one who became part of the main cast on a deep level. While Hayate Yagami, her crew, the Razgriz and Long Caster also work with my main cast, they’re more of external allies. Her dress looks a bit like a tablecloth, but that’s a canon-ish outfit of hers: while she never wears it in her route, it is in her character card in the slot that gets used during dates in normal gameplay.
Next to her we have Keiko Caterina Turbo, Sergio and Nikki’s daughter with her own PPC spinoff, Wings of Canon: Second Strike. She is also the only survivor of the Second Strike cast, having lost Shiro and Saki in the Unravel, and as such the role of representative of her series is all on her. She also doesn’t like skirts, at all, why do you ask?
Then we have Hajime Irene Turbo, Keiko’s half sister/alternate incarnation from the timeline in which Sergio got together with Ami instead. She’s an original The World without Authors character, but still related to characters from my previous works. Fun fact: Keiko and Hajome’s birthday, April 13, in indeed based on the day and month we began Mai Dire Fine. If we consider HQ Standard Time (the PPC’s timeline) to coincide with the real world, they turned two years old today.
Next is Hajime’s mother, Ami Tanegashima. Mentioned first in I don’t like luxury cars to pave her way for her posthumous role in Blank Sprite, we can consider her the representative of my Blank Sprite original characters here. She’s now stuck with the absurdity of not only having a daughter she never thought she could have, but also of said daughter being currently only four years younger than her. Considering Ami’s small frame, there will likely be plenty of times in which she’s mistaken for Hajime’s younger sister… also, now that she’s 20 years old and of drinking age in Japan, she discovered she actually likes alcohol. And can deal with it surprisingly well despite her light build (as opposed to Sergio and Nikki who both can’t hold their liquor)… yes, she had more than a few glasses here. Luckily, she doesn’t drink very often.
Toasting with her is Aya Kibokami, the “fragment” that split off Madoka Kaname at the end of Blank Sprite. As such, she’s here as a representative of canon characters of Blank Sprite. Due to a certain scene of Madoka Magica, in which Madoka expresses a desire to go out drinking with her mother (who really enjoys drinking) once old enough, there is fanon of her eventually developing the same taste for liquor. While we’ll likely never know if the canon Madoka would, Aya is the other heavy drinker of my cast and here is depicted finally having a toast (or two… or a few…) with Ami to celebrate the success of their “Save Sergio and Homura from their spirals of self-destruction by making them defeat Vera and save Madoka together” master plan.
And, of course, fussing over Aya’s excessive drinking we have Kuroko Tenshimi, AKA the “split fragment” of Homura Akemi retaining the memories of the Blank Sprite Incident. While her and Aya haven’t featured yet, they did make it to the Unraveled World. However, I don’t plan on making them part of the main cast yet (in fact, I’m planning to reduce the amount of characters we’re following as the cast is getting too big), and I’m actually considering having them star in their own The World without Authors spinoff, but nothing set in stone yet. Oh, and fun fact about them, they did already have a bit of starring of their own as they were the hosts of the Third PPC HQ Hunger Games. How Nutmeg TV managed to get hold of them for that will forever remain a mistery.
Next, a character very few of you are likely to be familiar with. Nina De Nobili, the title character of the Nina, the child of the Sixth Moon book series. Acting as a representative of the Mai Dire Fine canon characters here, she’s been chosen since, as I said in the past, we started Mai Dire Fine on her author’s forum, and even received encouragement from her to keep writing at one point… despite the fact we were basically butchering her work. However, everyone has to begin somewhere, and Moony Witcher (real name Roberta Rizzo) knew that, so I’m glad she didn’t shoot down our hopes – I might not be here now with a 300.000+ words saga under my belt otherwise. Nina is not planned to reappear in the Unraveled Worlds, as she’s from a series intended for children that wouldn’t mesh well with our current plots.
The little guy sitting over the counter doing karaoke is Conan Edogawa from Detective Conan (anyone insisting on calling the series Case Closed can leave now). He’s again a canon character featured in Mai Dire Fine, but there are plans to involve him and some other characters of his series in the third arc. Also, as you can guess by Nina’s reaction, he’s a terrible, terrible singer.
Leaning on the couch we have Hiro Shirogane, our Gundam pilot. He’s a fully original character created for The World without Authors whose original concept was made by Aelit, although I was the one developing his backstory and relationship with Miksa. I admit that for a while we weren’t too sure about what to do with him, but I hope his current subplot will be enjoyable.
And now, the front row. Leftmost is Hanami, Nikki’s alternate from Kathleen’s alternate timeline (and as such a The World without Authors original). She’s been adopted by the Kinomotos (as she’s also an alternate of Sakura) and is now living with them. Something that debuted in this illustration are the glasses: those are her timeline’s Sergio, and she doesn’t actually have a need for eyesight correction. She had the lenses replaced with fake ones, and wears them due to them being one of the few things she has left of him, though they’re also a good way to differentiate herself from her “sisters”.
Then we have Sakura Kinomoto from Cardcaptor Sakura herself. If we go by name only, her first appearance in my works would be Mai Dire Fine, but that particular Sakura ended up becoming Nikki so it is safe to assume her first appearance was actually in the first mission of Wings of Canon, my main PPC spinoff, titled Don’t Forget The Canon, and she has been confirmed alive in the Unraveled World, in which she is now legally Nikki and Hanami’s younger sister. As in the comic I posted above, her hair is actually lighter than Nikki or Hanami’s as most CCS media have her with a light shade, but Nikki and Hanami both derive from the 1998 anime that had a darker brown as Sakura’s hair color.
Next to Sakura is Syaoran Li from the same series, who instead did appear as himself in Mai Dire Fine. He was badly OOC though, and if the The World without Authors incarnation of him does remember Sergio, things might a bit tense between them at first… though, hopefully, just until he gets explained that no, the “Sakura” Sergio was in love with was actualy Nikki and there’s no need to be jealous.
Then we get to Kathleen Leone. She is not the Mai Dire Fine incarnation of the character, but an alternate made for The World without Authors. Despite that, she started considering the main timeline Sergio as her own brother even before he had to kill her timeline’s, due to the latter’s descent into madness. We haven’t been able to give her much space until now, due to the action being mostly in the air, but that will change soon. I won’t spoiler anything, but Chapter 11 will be a big turning point in the story.
Of course, holding arms with her is Faith Leone, Everything I said about Kathleen applies about her too, as they’ve arrived in the Unraveled World together. We haven’t shown much on our plans to develop her so far, but trust us: we’re going to both fill in more of her bakcstory, and give her chances to shine soon.
Cutting the cake together we have Sergio Turbo and Nikki Cherryflower, both of which made their first appearances in Mai Dire Fine and appeared in all sequel works. For as much grief the Unraveled World is bringing them, it is arguable they’ve gained more than they have lost, as they’ve both got their families back thanks to it. Fun fact: their outfits are loosely based on the ones they wore during Chapter 7 of Blank Sprite.
Last but not least, Corolla. Introduced in Don’t Forget The Canon, she’s my most successful character. Defined by Aelit “Kathleen, but written well” way before we started working on The World without Authors, it isn’t a suprise they synergize so well together… much to Sergio and Nikki’s dismay. Here, is she more excited for the cake, or because they are cutting it together like it was a wedding cake? Probably both.
And that’s it, 15 years of writing, condensed in one image. We hope you’ll keep following us in the future!
