Lost Media

Suddenly having the idea of the Wizard (Mr. Kadabra) appearing in our world by teleporting through clocks. Could make a good Dressy Sally fanfic. Did this because I was nostalgic about it.

It was such a plot twist when they mentioned that they were looking for a classic Czechoslovak animated tale the whole time. They were treating it like it was some kind of a horror movie. :D And I found out about this epic search just now.

It's weird how much they changed the story for the English version though. All the characters seem kinder in the Czech original. Plus in the original the girl crochets the gloves for her mother herself... I mean they added the cool twist with the part that the wizard knew the mother when she was little, but isn't it better to have a daughter with mad crocheting skills?

I can imagine why would someone find this scary, but Czech kids grow up watching worse, more brutally-realistic tales that make this one feel like it's nothing unusual. Let's say good ol' Fimfárum or The Sorcerer's Apprentice. (both with English subtitles) Those are a little unsettling at times, but our parents love them and we love them.

Czech animation weirdness yet again

I really like weird videos, ok? I love watching throgh the Nexpo or the ScareTheatre channels on youtube, I like mysteries and scary stories and conspiracy theories… Not that I believe them, but it’s just fun. So today this puppy jumped at me from the recommended, it’s called “The Search For Clockman: Nickelodeon’s Mysterious Lost Short” and it’s actually real well done, so watch it if you have free 30 minutes:

Hear me out, though, I’ve been laughing ever since I finished watching it. Why?

Because when I saw the thumbnail, I thought to myself “Woah. Looks Czech”. Then I heard about it looking like a “paper stop-motion” and I taught to myself “Woah. Sounds pretty Czech to me.” 

So I looked it up on youtube (yeah, it’s been there the whole time they’d been searching for it lol) and gave it a watch:

It’s just an old Czechoslovak cartoon bit. Not even scary. It’s just a normal, every-day old Czechoslovak cartoon, like, this is how we roll in here, that’s totally normal! :’D But I was like, okay, there must be something in there that made the ‘Muricans lose their shit. So i gave the American version a look, right?

… …. what… the fuck…? what? when? who did this? w h a t???? is that even the same story????? :’DDDDD
