Watching Are You Sure?! EP 8 Finale
A reminder of how I do these reaction posts as I watch things. I just write my reactions and thoughts down literally they happen. Think more of a bullet point format. I'll include links when I can to videos, thanks to the people who twt who upload clips and to @dstdes for providing so many of my linked video clips. And at the end, I'll do a better wrap up of all my opinions. I hope everyone enjoyed the show, I can't believe it's over!!
Tumblr media
JK turning on Korea's top hits on the radio and both their songs playing one after the other. They KNOW they are powerful. I like them seeing/hearing that evidence though first hand 🥰 Jikook can't be separated, even on the radio!*
JK mentioning the Park Jimin summoning spell 😭😂 lmfao I love it
"this is the boyfriend shot" Jimin says THREE TIMES IN A ROW. we get it, he said this is what it looks like to go out on a date with Jungkook. And Jimin is the one who gets to do that 😅😂🥰🥰🥰 goodness. What was that Jimin? Lol honestly though, it was a cute and cozy picture!
Tumblr media
Did the head chef just gift them one of everything on the menu?! Lmao they have so much food!!
JK telling Jimin to basically just strip naked because he went to go undo his pants buckle because he was so full but it was already undone was such a wild statement and comment to make?? The fuck? Lmao and Jimin replying with a meme was hysterical. Joking yet blushing. Top notch 😂😂 loved it. Love them. We aren't even 20 minutes into the episode yet And that was so out of pocket 😂🤣
JK being so tickled over teasing Jimin and making him come back to the car to get him 🤣 they are so funny!
Jimin dancing SNTY 😍
Their giggles over the beds?? Lol it has to be because they saw photos originally and saw the staff had separated out the beds to be separate when they originally weren't and then still gave them matching PJs to wear 🤣🤣 idk why they would do that? Lol they aren't strangers to sharing a bed lol
Jungkook teasing Jimin over the scuzzi 😂😂
Jimin putting snowballs on his head while in the hottub lol the way JK watched him. Love 😍
Not rock paper scissors to have to lay down in the snow 🤣 Jimin forcing JK to follow through on the punishment he thought up 🤣🤣🤣 the way Jimin called him baby as JK gave him the biggest puppy eyes trying to get out of having to do it 🥺🥺🥺
Jimin just laying on the floor at the bottom of the stairs while JK has his snack. Lmfao the call and response singing they had is so cute and what a song choice! 😂 Jimin saying he likes randomly laying/sprawling/rolling on the floor at home too 😂
Tumblr media
Them reacting to episode 1 of AYS was NOT on my bingo called but im so happy about it! The editors joking with them and their interaction with the staff made me so happy too! It was also really funny them admitting to having a hard time editing the show 😂
Tumblr media
Their giggles heal something in my soul 🥰
And the way they are sitting so close and kept their feet touching almost the entire time?? 🥰🥰🥰
Jimin's head in JKs lap at some point while watching too. I love them
Tumblr media
JK acting a fool in the kitchen while cooking to make Jimin laugh 🥰🥰🥰
Jimin calling JK " Honey" 🥺🥺🥺 he wanted to cheers their glasses, but he called him honey. Cute
Not them teasing each other over their snores and sleeping habits 😂
"Jimin doesn't like it when someone touches his head" JK says, while rubbing his head with Jimin unbothered. Lol Jimin will let that man do ANYTHING to him 😂 and idk if JK was trying to tease Jimin or us by flexing his privilege in our face. Probably both 😂
JK saying driving on smaller roads like this is romantic. Jimin saying "this is romance, this is youth, this is nice" 😭😭😭 fuck they are so cute
JK is flying from Japan to Korea and then basically straight back out to America for his schedule. And he choose to not drink, even though he really wanted to, because he wanted to drive Jimin to the airport, just them instead of depending on the staff to take them. Give them that extra alone time together. And he chose to fly to Korea with Jimin instead of giving himself an easier and more relaxing travel schedule with more rest by staying and flying to America from Japan instead. That is... It's really fucking special and sweet and says so much about how they love each other honestly.
Tumblr media
Giving up his last beer of their trip, after being told to relax and not worry about it because he wanted to be the one to drive them, to have that time together, just them and a GoPro they had control over, and spending that extra travel time to be together when it made a much longer and harder few days for him? That's that persistent, dedicated, quiet yet impactful kinda love. Really said a lot without saying anything.
The tradition continues of JK filming their food before ending with a close up shot of Jimins face. love that is a constant here 🥰
Tumblr media
"I'll make sure you have a safe journey" "it's an honor" just kill me now omfg 😭🥰😭
JK being salty that Jin didn't dream about him with Jimin in the military since they are going together 😂😂😂😂
Jikook talking about how these trips were some of the happiest moments ever. And the way they were feeling a little melancholy over the trip ending and things changing and losing this constant togetherness time they had to be free .. goodness. Enjoying the cool air while trying to feel better. Ugh, I love them. I love them so much and I love the way they love each other so much.
Tumblr media
Talking about how they loved it so much in the ending interviews, how they were the best of times. JK softly rubbing Jimins nape and back in comfort too. I'm tearing up, damn
Tumblr media
The way JK is looking at Jimin during that last interview outtakes. My goodness 😍 same way Jimin was looking at JK while he was driving 😍
Them ending the show by having us literally send them off to the military is cruel, omfg. I AM CRYING NOW, DAMN. "A letter from beyond" fuck you too editors 😭
Wrap up Thoughts:
I'm so sad this is over. My God. Minute of silence to mourn.
.
.
.
This was such a sweet and wholesome episode. It had teasing, it had bickering, it had pet names. It was domestic as heck. It was the perfect trip for them to end their "freedom" before military service. I would have loved more conversations about that, but I'm fairly content as it is too.
Again, so many cuts (not complaining, very normal) but my favorite was how Jimin went to go wake JK up and then it cut to them leaving. I hope they enjoyed their time cuddling and relaxing sans cameras and interruption 🥰 (my assumptions I guess, but wouldn't be far fetched)
Letting my delulu out when Jimin said he just lays wherever whenever all the time at home and me thinking about the the members teasing JK about all the random ass mattresses over his house 🤣 it's too keep them comfy no matter where they end up wanting to lay 🤣🤣 (just kidding, sort of lol)
The way Jikook play fight is so equal and cute and funny. They just shove the crap out of each other but never with an intention to hurt or be mean. And they both LOVE IT.
They trust each other, give weight to each other's words and have confidence in the others beliefs and thoughts like no one else. It's such a special bond, and I'm so so glad they opted to share this with us. I truly am so grateful. And grateful for y'all letting me share all my musings with you too. 💜
And we have to end this post with the way that Jikook were spotted in Sapporo driving in the car, Jimin being the passenger princess he was, alone with their GoPro's and giving major flirty energy. And the way the show just proved OP right too. Genuinely Jikook are so special and wonderful and amazing and I love them so much. And when they got home from this trip, the group live they did shortly after? They were sooooo touchy and snuggly!
Tumblr media
Hope everyone is excited for the photobook and behinds as well. I unfortunately am horribly sad because I'm broke AF and cannot afford to buy it in my budget at the moment, but hopefully ARMYs will upload all the photos and upload the behinds for everyone too. I will share links if I find them.

The Freedom of Expression, radio version - Ep 33, May 2016 - New jingle campaign, The Panama Papers leak.
Kaoru starts by saying that at the time of this recording, Golden Week has just ended, and he asks Joe what he'd been doing for the week. Joe says he was working on live broadcasts all week, except Saturday, so he went to see a movie on Saturday. The movie he watched was a documentary about Banksy, and he recommends Kaoru to check it out.
Kaoru then says he often feels like the end of the show is pretty cramped for time due to promotional plugs, so he wants to try reading them out at the start for a change. He starts by saying that the Mode of Vugar tour is completely sold out. He then says somewhat unconfidently, if you join the fanclub by May 20th you will have the chance to get early  tickets to Mode of DSS. Kaoru says he's a bit worried about the DSS tour, as it starts so soon after the Vular tour ends. It will however, be a different set, and they will play new songs. Joe expresses relief that Kaoru started to look a bit more confident with this last info. Next Kaoru reveals that the editing of the Budokan DVD/bluray has finally been finished and it will be released at the end of June. His most important announcement is that the new single Utafumi is due for release on the 27th of July. The coupling song is to be Kuukoku no kyouon ft. Sugizo. He says that Sugizo joined them on stage for this song during the last Lunatic fest, which is what led to this new collaboration.
Next they move onto showcasing more jingles for the show's new jingle appeal. After playing the first one, Kaoru says he really likes the sound of this one. Joe is surprised at the high quality, as it was the first ever attemt of this listener to make music on a PC. They both think it could do with a little more development, but are looking forward to what the staff can do with it.
The next clip was sent in two versions, one without a voice track, and one including a voice track. Kaoru plays the version with the voice track included. They can't really understand the words of the voice track. Joe thinks the final words of it sound kinda like 'DJ Kaoru'. Its quite robotic sounding, and a bit like Kami's voice. Kaoru says it would be a bit difficult to use this clip as the show's jingle, because its not easy to understand the words being spoken.
The third clip Kaoru plays is guitar based, and Kaoru quite likes it. However, he says it would be easier to use if it had more of loud impact at the start. This clip sounds a bit too much like a regular song.
He plays the final clip next, and the description that came with it says that the end section is based of part of the song 'Different Sense'. After the clip is played, they try to guess which part that was supposed to be. Kaoru says he enjoyed listening to this one. Joe asks Kaoru to rank the four clips that were played in order of his preference. Kaoru has trouble with this, so Joe asks him which one he will send a sticker to. Kaoru replies that he will not send any stickers, which Joe thinks is a bit strict. Kaoru says the first clip probably seems like it would be the easiest to use on the show, so changes his mind and decides to send a sticker to the creator of this clip after all.
Next they welcome Hiranabe for the Tokyo Sports corner. Its been a while since they last saw him, and Joe asks him whats been going on. Hiranaba says he had been in Hakata, and suffered what he calls the 'Hakata champagne incident', during which he dropped his phone down the toilet. He says he lost all his data, had no means of contact, and thats why he couldn't make it to do this show. Kaoru thinks he's lying. Going into more detail, Hiranaba explains that he went to Hakata to visit a bar where a particular woman he likes works. While drinking with her, he was really feeling a connection, so he suggested they drink champagne. When he subsequently suggested they spend the night together, the woman suggested carrying on with the champagne. They got through ¥150000 worth of champagne. By 3am she was vomiting and floundering in the toilets, so he went to see what was going on and dropped his phone in the toilet. He feels he is a victim of a double-deciept in this sense, and thinks she probably never intended to go back to his room from the start. (*I couldn't make out a couple of sentences in this story, this is the best I could do 🙈*)
Such deception leads him onto a big news story of the time, which also involved large scale deception - The Panama Papers leak. Hiranaba finds it pretty offensive that so many high-up individuals are using the Cayman Islands to avoid paying tax. He says this whole thing stinks of conspiracy, because the leaks show a  bias towards European/Russian and Chinese individuals, while no American names are mentioned. Two theories he brings up about the leaks are 1) they were intended to try and prevent the UK from leaving the EU; and 2) the leaks were facilitated by America who were unhappy about the activities of Russia and China. Kaoru thinks that it doesn't matter whose names were leaked, it looks as if they are all doing this kind of thing anyway. Joe says this incident really shows how the top level of society lives in a totally different world to the ordinary citizens. They suggest various ways which would make the world fairer in terms of tax. E.g. a world wide tax rate, or zero tax for anyone who earns under ¥5million yen annually (Hiranabe's idea). Joe brings up the economist Thomas Piketty who is know for his ideas of re-distribution of wealth. Piketty proposed the idea of a global wealth tax to address the rapidly increasing wealth disparity which is taking place under the capitalist system. Hiranabe thinks it would be a good idea not to tax people with small incomes, but to make the rich pay heavy taxes. They then talk about how the people exposing the leaks also hold a lot of power, and repeat the suspicion surrounding the fact that no American names were included in the leaked information. All this talk of wealth makes Hiranabe a bit sad, as he has no money after his recent exploits.
Kaoru finishes by saying that recently they get so carried away with conversation, he doesn't have time to play a second song, which is exactly what happened this time. He ends by saying he finds it a bit strange to end the show without any announcements, since he already did those at the start.

Ep 201: The Disappearance of Frederick Valentich Part 3
“I am prepared to swear on oath or submit myself to any lie detector test to substantiate this, my statement.”
– Don Cox, who observed a triangle-shaped UFO for 45 minutes from his yard in Adelaide, 385 miles northwest of Valentich’s last known location, just 28 minutes after his radio fell silent.
Description:
As we wrap up our coverage of the Frederick Valentich story in Part 3 of our series, we'll continue our conversation with Melbourne resident Chris Tyler about his research into the case and other possibly related UFO incidents around the same time and area. We'll also examine the Australian Department of Transport accident report's remaining findings and discuss its conclusions. As you begin to reach your own conclusions, it's essential to keep several factors in mind which make the usual mundane explanations seem inadequate. The high number of independent sightings of aerial phenomena occurring in proximity to the disappearance suggests Valentich wasn't alone in witnessing it. The distance a Cessna cowling was found from a potential crash site and the lack of definitive markings makes its discovery inconclusive. Even if the cowling did come from Valentich's plane, it still doesn't account for what caused him to ditch, let alone other missing debris and Valentich himself. Perhaps the most surprising revelation comes from the summary of the report itself. Rather than dismissing the possibility of a UFO entanglement, an official government statement lists it as one of four likeliest scenarios. Remember that Valentich himself never suggested he interacted with a UFO in his last transmission, despite being painted as obsessed with them by his skeptics. When these factors and more are taken together, it's no wonder this incident is one of the most baffling and tragic in the phenomenon's history and leaves us all to wonder, what happened to Frederick Valentich and where did he go?
Location:
Moorabbin Airport, where Frederick Valentich took off from on October 21, 1978, headed for King Island across Bass Strait.

Music Marketing - The Essentials of an Effective Music Press Kit
Tumblr media
As a suffering impartial musician in a exceptionally aggressive over-crowded promote it must be left unsaid which you want to face out from the crowd. There are many approaches to do this. There is song exposure, radio promoting, substantial excursion presence, and the almighty song advertising and song promoting. You want to get your message available --period. Getting your song advertising message out there's one issue however getting the proper message out there's any other. Your expert photo as an impartial artist is of the maximum significance so as to upward push above the ocean of competition. Most impartial bands and impartial artists have a few type of a song press package or song promoting package that they use for promotional purposes.
Generally, musicians will use both a conventional print song media package, a virtual press package (DPK), or an internet EPK (Electronic Press Kit). But simply how expert and convincing are they? A regularly requested query that I get all of the time from my impartial artists and musicians is which sort of press package must we positioned together? Which sort of song press package works nice and is maximum surprising and effective? The solution to that query relies upon on some matters. What I imply with the aid of using that is that I advocate developing and retaining varieties of press kits -- both a print or virtual song press package, and an digital press package.
The purpose for that is simple. Certain media stores, labels, venues, song control companies, etc. decide upon a print press package or virtual press package together along with your complete blown CD so it may be listened too on excessive performance stereo system to get the overall impact of your song and its manufacturing qualities. Others decide upon now no longer to have their workplace congested with piles of press kits, and their desired approach is simply reviewing your song on line. For the motives simply noted, we advocate you do a print or virtual press package and feature one on line as well. There's surely not anything to developing an internet EPK so why now no longer have it to be had.
There are some superb EPK offerings available and that they fee only some greenbacks in line with month. But I am placing an emphasis at the truth that an EPK (Electronic press package on line) isn't always enough. You nevertheless need to have the conventional print or virtual press package for your song promoting arsenal. It is top notch to say that your Music press package might be your maximum precious promotional device and it wishes to be taken very seriously. Other than your CD and stay overall performance it is also the primary influence of you as an artist that labels, venues, and different song media stores will obtain.
There are many photograph artwork corporations that specialize with inside the education of media promoting kits that you could need to don't forget in case your finances permits. If now no longer, for some greenbacks, a touch creativity, and time and effort, you could do it yourself. Here are the simple factors of a print press package and Electronic press package, and the expert way with the aid of using which to move approximately it. In your conventional print song press package model the factors to encompass are a professionally designed cowl together along with your brand or picture graph, a cowl letter of introduction, Band or Artist biography, a expert 8- x 10- black and white sleek promotional picture graph, media function articles and press releases, album critiques and quote sheet, your complete period - prolonged play, or professionally recorded demo CD, an enterprise CD-one sheet, a commercial enterprise card and professionally classified envelope. The materials wished are heavy inventory paper, portfolio cowl, massive envelope, cope with labels, commercial enterprise cards, and your 8- x 10- sleek picturegraph.
Now this is the way to move approximately placing the print press package together. COVER AND LETTER OF INTRODUCTION: Your expert song press package must have an outstanding cowl. This must encompass a picture graph of the artist, artist's name, and artist's touch data. Sort of like the duvet of a book. You must additionally encompass a cowl letter of introduction.
This must introduce you because the artist mentioning in short a touch approximately yourself. Don't get too unique on this letter you could go away that for the bio and different media which you'll encompass. Make positive you cope with the letter to 1 unique person - - being non-public is crucial. It offers the advent of a non-cookie cutter appearance and that you're feeling this media outlet, label, venue, or song agent has significance. Make positive that both on the pinnacle or the lowest of this letter you've got blanketed your complete touch data or your artist's consultant's touch data. The cowl letter must be inserted simply in the package's cowl previous to another data.
The touch data must additionally be blanketed at the lowest proper on each web page with inside the song promo package. Artist or Band Biography: The subsequent web page or what could really be the primary informational web page of the song media package could be your artist biography web page. Here you must encompass a quick records of the artist or band, a touch approximately every member if it is a complete band. This must be now no longer than one web page and must now no longer be a protracted drawn out records of the band however only a quick synopsis of what you've got executed and wherein you intend to move.
More importantly, you must encompass such things as vast indicates or tours, contests won, radio play, or any achievements that you're feeling are noteworthy and can improve you above others in phrases of reputation and development. Keep it simple, concise, and meaningful. If there aren't anyt any writers amongst you or your buddies than we exceptionally advocate having your band bio written for you with the aid of using a expert song copywriter. It's so crucial and it need to be expert. Media and Press Section: The following pages for your song promoting package must be media and press. These are essentially vast clips of any function articles you could have acquired in song enterprise magazines, or newspapers. Don't move overboard.
include handiest media clips that surely spotlight you as an artist. Pick the nice 5 clips you've got and ensure they're professionally reproduced. Noting irritates someone receiving those kits greater that sloppy crooked copies of media. Take satisfaction with inside the great of the package. Plastic see-thru walls must be used for every person object. Album Reviews and Quote sheets: You might also additionally need to don't forget together with desirable critiques of your CD and fees you've got  acquired concerning the CD or your overall performance. This web page must be professionally laid out with classified headings. One must be -Album Reviews and the alternative must be Quotes. Don't overlook to position citation marks earlier than and after every assessment and quote. CD: Either a Full Length Album, EP, or Professionally Recorded Demo: There are some specific approaches to connect your CD on your song press package. If your portfolio has a sleeve with inside the rear you could simply slip it in there. Another approach is to apply Velcro strips located at the rear of the CD and connected someplace at the inner of the again cowl.
This but isn't always the advocated approach. Especially if the rear cowl of your CD has crucial data published on it. Bloc Party - Banquet
Hey! I am back, today Sunday 10 with 'Banquet' by the band 'Bloc Party'. Let's talk about the band, its evolution and then about the song itself.
About the band:
Bloc Party is an English band, essentially formed in 1999 in Berkshire, England, when Russell Lissack (lead guitar) and Kele Okereke (rhythm guitar, vocals) bumped into each other at Reading Festival (they met the previous year) and decided to form a band. Then Gordon Moake joined as bassist and finally Matt Tong as the band's drummer.
in 2003 Bloc Party mailed Steve Aoki a 7-inch of the track 'She’s Hearing Voices' and signed to Dim Mak. Then Dim Mak teamed up with Atlantic Records, and together they released the band's first album, 'Silent Alarm' (which 'Banquet' is part of)
Finally, the band got its breakthrough when in 2003, Okereke went to a Franz Ferdinand concert, and gave a copy of 'She’s Hearing Voices' to Alex Kapranos (FF vocalist) and Steve Lamacq (BBC 1 radio DJ). An EP was released and the band got famous.
Though there is a lot of history (which you can read in the links I got the info from, at the end of the post) we'll keep it short here. Bloc Party's website can be found at bottom as well.
On 29 April 2022, Bloc Party released it's sixth album called 'Alpha Games', with some changes on its lineup, like the new drummer Louise Bartle, the first woman in the band (and an exception musician) and Justin Harris on back vocals, bass, synth, sax and glockenspiel, replacing Gordon. (both of them joined on 2015)
About the song:
'Banquet' is an alt rock (tho a bit emo and brit rock) song, 4th track on BP's debut album 'Silent Alarm'. It was re-released on Wichita Recordings on 2005 as a single, and the song that made them known outside the United Kingdom. It was produced by Paul Epworth, who has also worked with Adele and Rihanna.
You may know the song from one of these three sources:
Life is Strange 2, here's a clip.
Guitar Rock tour, here's the DS version, which is actually a cover by Bob Saint-Laurent and Nicola Archambault. Here's also a clip from the mobile version which is instrumental, and the one I know the song from, when I used to play the game on my mum's Nokia X3-02, back in 2010 or so.
The movie 'De battre mon cœur s'est arrêté' (The Beat That My Heart Skipped).
One of the most notable parts of the song is the guitar interplay between Okereke and Lissack, which continues through much of the song. Tho the studio version is about 150 BPM, in live performances the band has played it slightly faster and with differences on the way it's sung, like in this one (with Sarah Jones as touring member) or this one with Matt still on the drums.
Meaning:
The song talks about teenage life and contains lines and phrases related to sex. The song also contains contradiction such as "turning away from the light" and "turning into the light". These and other phrases, such as, I'm on fire, reflect the author's feelings of the process of "becoming adult". (this is taken also from wiki)
Now what genius and song meanings and facts say about the song
The character of the song is adulting, sometimes hurts their couple and feels alone, and everything that they feel is too strong, and too much.
And that sounds acceptable to me, to be honest. It's a song about life, about love, about difficulties and struggles. I chose the newspaper background because of the line "and we don't read the papers, we don't read the news;" pretty literal.

Everything I Did Wrong: Recording and Releasing an EP
Last year, my band and I recorded and released a seven-piece EP (mistake number 1). It’s been just shy of a year after the release and I’ve finally realised why things didn’t really go too well. As it turns out, there’s a lot more to making music than, well, making music.
Introductions aren’t very fun so here’s what went wrong, and what we should have done.
Planning
It probably sounds like a no-brainer, but you actually have to plan what you’re going to do when recording music. It’s not as easy as going to the studio every day you’re free and laying down bangers your tracks. I’d recommend getting a metre-long (3.28-ish feet for you imperial folk) piece of paper and put the current date on one side and your release date aaaaaaall the way on the other side. Okay that was a joke, but I can’t stress enough how much time is needed to successfully record and release music. Timelines will be your new best friend. Whatever your project is, just add an extra few weeks or months to it.
Our first major mistake (other than releasing seven songs and calling it an EP) was winging the whole thing. We didn’t have a schedule and as soon as we had our tracks we released them out into the world, without first telling the world. Which brings me to my next two points.
Timing (and planning pt 2?)
Gee willikers do not give in to your excitement and drop your tracks on a Tuesday at 4pm after work. Fridays are your second-best friend, because you get to spend the whole week being a hype-person for your own product. Also, there’s a tonne of work to be done before the release date, like while you’re recording or listening to the same guitar part for an hour and quietly going insane.
As mentioned above, you should be using a timeline of sorts to wrap your head around what you need to get done. Also, checklists. When you’re not in the studio you can get an artist to design your album art, or design it yourself! If you get an artist to do your art, make sure they know that you’ll be using their designs on promotional material and possibly merchandise. It’s a potential copyright battle that you’ll want to avoid for sure. Also, pay your damn artist. We’re all struggling, so don’t be that guy.
That example above about releasing on a Tuesday sadly wasn’t a joke. As soon as the mastered EP fell into my hands (hard drive) I put it on Bandcamp and posted it on Facebook. Ugh.
Another thing you can do which is less fun but really worth your time is getting quotes for getting your CD’s printed so you can sell them at gigs or in your friendly local record store. They generally work out to be cheaper the more you buy at once, but ask yourself first if you really need 1000 copies of your album in a box underneath your bed.
Marketing
Arguably the most fun yet most painful part of releasing music is marketing the hell out of it. You know that happy-go-lucky person at your high school who was friends with everyone? Yeah go ahead and hire them as your entire marketing team. Alternatively, make really engaging content and plug your upcoming release in a way that isn’t annoying and hard to look at.
But really, spend some times at the studio taking photos and put them on your band’s social media pages, release audio clips of your recordings or a video of your vocalist belting out their lyrics while they’re listening to a track with headphones on because it’s kind of hilarious seeing someone yelling at a wall. As sucky as it sounds, you’ll probably need to fork out some money to reach a larger audience on Facebook, or create ads on Facebook and Instagram. Regardless of if you’re going down this route, make sure your social media is interesting! It also helps to try and get local radio interviews (if you have a single from the track ready to be played) and even ask local press (nicely) if they would like to review your album before you release it. In these circumstances it’s wise to create a band press kit (photos, reviews, a private link to your music and a write up about your band)
Two weeks before my band released our EP, we announced it on our Facebook page. For the next six months we mentioned it at gigs, but that was pretty much it. The marketing part of your project can’t be left to the last minute. You’ll need to build hype and start a marketing campaign if you want to have successful release.
So yeah, there’s a lot more to making music than just making music. Sometimes it can feel like the work is piled way too high. It’s important to stop and think about what needs to be done and write it down. Lists are amazing, especially when you complete them. Timelines can be the difference between doing things ‘later’ and already having them done. You’ll need to make time for your music and treat it like a part time or full time career. The more time you put in, the more you’ll benefit in the long run. and finally, please don’t wing it.
