CYNTHIA: But that’s what I don’t understand. When did you reveal the photos? Did you have a darkroom in the hotel?

NEAL: No. I’d schedule a lab in each base-city with a debit account that paid in advance. I’d get the films of each day, put them in envelopes and write down the instructions.

Richard Cole [ tour manager ] would take me to use the limo so I could go to the lab because the band would take at least an hour to shower and get ready to go out at night, so, the limos would be crowded around the hotels without doing anything.

So as soon as my envelopes with the films were ready to be taken, he’d let me use the limo to go to the lab and I’d put the envelopes in the delivery box outside, which they’d already wait for, so that the employees could have the photos ready the next morning.

The lab would get six contact sheets for each roll of film in black and white, one for each member of the band, one for Peter and one for me.

When they were delivered in my room by noon the next day, all in a rush, I had to set up each collage and put them under the door of each one of them. With the colored photos, the negatives (?) were delivered to me in boxes and I’d carry a slide projection, and spend each night awake looking at them.
