English: "I dreamt I was in a sort of class where the teacher asked us to research a YouTube channel about Christ, but the other students began to oppose it because, apparently, there were false things being said about him. Myriam, my mom's teacher, was one of those opposing, providing arguments on the matter. Suddenly, Mayra Cacahuate passed by the classroom to leave and I saw her extremely thin; she said she hadn't eaten in several days. I confronted her and told her that it was going to harm her, that she could die."
"Before that dream, I dreamt I had dressed up nicely to walk with a group of somewhat older, very refined gentlemen, who appeared to have government positions. I ended up walking alone with a shorter lady who talked to me in a flirtatious manner."

CPE312 - Software Design and Engineering
Class Discussion + Group Activity
August 22, 2024
WEEK 2
ִֶָ𓂃 ࣪˖ ִֶָ🐇་༘࿐
I woke up early because we had our online class and reporting with Ma'am Desai in the subject of Data and Digital Communication. Our report was about Online Connections. So it's all about the relationships formed and maintained through the internet, allowing people to communicate and interact regardless of physical distance.
So, fast forward. After our class, I immediately took a bath because I knew it would take time to finish, and I didn't want to be late for our face-to-face class, which was SDE. But the real reason I almost arrived late was that no buses were passing through our terminal, so I decided to take a mini bus. I arrived at school at exactly 12:11pm. I ran towards the elevator and saw a classmate, which was a bit of a relief, knowing I wasn't the only one running late.
As our class started, our instructor discussed the Week 1 module, which covers what it means to be a software engineer and the tools we should use when implementing software. I felt nervous thinking about how stressful this subject might be since it demands a lot of time, and I struggle with time management. That’s why I need to start practicing it.
As Sir Carl finished his discussion, he gave us a group activity involving a different case study where we analyze real-world scenarios to help improve our critical thinking skills, teamwork, and collaboration. We were given a short amount of time to create the report and analyze the problem, knowing our instructor would randomly pick a student from each group to present. Despite the rush, I really enjoyed the activity. I appreciated the group's teamwork and the process of analyzing, even if my ideas were somewhat off-topic. The experience I had today made me realize the importance of time management and teamwork, both of which are important as I continue my studies.

Hi class,
Today, we are going to discuss crypto investing and mining. Mining comes naturally to everyone. If you are following someone around trying to mimic them because you are too insecure of your own abilities, that is called stalking and theft, and you will not earn crypto in those circumstances. Also, if you are expecting to get paid based on the fact that someone else is thinking something you don't approve of, that is not mining. That is called minding your own business and just do your job that you go to every day, if you want to get paid. This is also a prime example of the 1st amendment, which includes FREEDOM OF SPEECH. That is one of our most cherished liberties in the great country of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. I think it's important to remember that life is easy and each and every one of us are our own unique individual. No two individuals are exactly the same. No two individuals think exactly the same. We are all special. In this life, all you need to do is be yourself. We were not created to mimic someone or treat someone as their means to a payment. That is inhumane and highly illegal. As a planet, that is not what we are about. Noone is perfect, and noone would ever want to be treated that way. So remember, if you want to earn crypto, just be yourself and do what comes naturally to you. Don't try to mimic someone because that's not how it works. Please ponder this further as homework, and we will discuss it further next class. Enjoy the rest of your day. Be excellent to each other. Please remember to love yourself genuinely. That is the most important thing you could ever do. Class dismissed! ~ deep thoughts with Ms. Tanner

THE ENTREPRENEURIAL MIND DISCUSSION
“A major reason why startup fail is because they design their initial product based on assumptions. They assume that people care enough about the problem to pay for a solution.” – Laura Holton
It’s been a while since we have our discussion on our Entrepreneurial class. One of some worth recalling information during our classroom discussion was when our instructor, Ma’am Rhea, introduced to us the term MINIMUM VIABLE PRODUCT (MVP). Basically, it is a beginning form of product in which Entrepreneurs furthermore develop and assess its potential by using their customers or users’ feedback. I was also amazed how some begin from a simple step which includes the Zappos in which Nick Swinmurn created a web site that offered the absolute best selection in shoes in terms of brands, styles, colors, sizes, and widths after recognizing the point of pain on not being able to find shoes on store you wanted. Ma’am Rhea gave us a simple example to visualize how it works. She presented to us how one should begin from a simple skateboard until it gradually develop into a car rather than slowly purchasing or acquiring some parts of the car. This simple explanation helped me understand that MVP launches a product with significant use in the early phases of a startup and then expanding functionality.
THE LECTURE SERIES
Last April 19, 2023, I attended the lecture series program facilitated by the Business Administration Department faculty at our University Convention Center which aims to give us, the students, an opportunity to hear insights and viewpoints from the invited lecture speaker from their various experiences on industry and academe.
LECTURE SERIES # 1: Intellectual Property Rights & Technology Transfer
Dr. Gamaleila A. Dumangcas
“Intellectual Property is the oil of the 21st Century. All the richest men have made their money out of intellectual property.” – Mark Getty
Intellectual Property is the creation of our mind. This includes invention, literary and artistic works, symbols, names, images, and designs. Thus, it’s essential to secure protection on the intellectual property to be able to transform it into a more tangible product and to secure the ”first to file” basis. Its need for protection requires an attentive measure since having it was like also owning a land property, which demands a regulation, valuation, taking ownership, and monetizing transfer. Thereby, its vital to register first your intellectual property before disclosing it to prevent any competitors from copying your trademark, technology or product; and avid wasteful investment in research. That’s the reason why acquiring intellectual property rights, such as patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secret, an important move since it’s protected in law that provides the creators a protection on their original works, inventions, or ideas. Furthermore, technology transfer is also an essential process which allow the knowledge developed at one organization to another, with a purpose of commercializing it to be able to manage distribution channels and identify potential markets.
LECTURE SERIES #2: Incubating Innovation: Exploring Start-Up Opportunities in the Philippines
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to listen throughout the said lecture since I had to process my clearance. However, my short participation in the lecture gained me a little background on how it works. This Business incubators provides a support and resources on start-ups and someone who’s starting their business. I believe this program really help some start-ups at least good starting point of foundation, its like a toddler being assisted by their parent to their following steps in their early-stage.
LECTURE SERIES #3: RAISE
Ma'am Keren
More than a lecture, the speaker had shown to us videos related to some start-up programs and seminars that occur in the Philippines, as well as her various experiences and seminars she attended. I was really eager to take some of notes on some of her videos she presented because I planned to watch and search on my way home.
Start-up is a company working to solve a problem where the solution is not obvious, and success is not guaranteed. She also shared her experience on how one of her business idea, Alima Home Healthcare for Every Juan − a booking app for nursing which aims to provide healthcare for rural area, had failed because of the pandemic. I was really amazed on her dedication and her ability to cope-up with the failure. I also love how she also said that “it all starts with the IDEA”. I wasn’t really fond on at least considering to be an entrepreneur in the future since my heart already settled for being a Nephrologist, however, learning that her course was actually BS Nursing, I was really amazed on this discovery. In which I realized that anyone could really become an entrepreneur and it will all start with the idea. Especially now where there are a lot programs that would support a new start-ups which includes the start-up grant fund, step up program, Philippine start-up challenge, and etc.

Class Discussion Response
This week we talked about the 10 rules that we read and listened about during the week’s reading homework. I feel that a lot of people could relate to the list and also find themselves needing the same reminders like the ones placed in front. Some people were saying that they had to be alone to be productive and others were struggling with starting the creative process. Motivation is different for everyone and getting started the hardest part and I feel that personally because if I am not in the right environment or mindset then it will not happen as well. You want to trigger yourself to be in the zone and in the studio you are looking for inspiration. Simplicity was looked at in the Emerge book and I thought it was interesting because some people can take it to the extreme and some don’t but both have been found effective. The village section was very important because it is shown through your work and the people around you that are helping. These people can challenge you and support you and that has an effect on your art as it also shows engagement. I thought the class gave a great answer where we shared how others have helped be productive in the past and the village around you knows you the best to give great input. I also enjoyed listening to how everyone creates their own habitats for creative space. I think it is important to know how you function the best and the environment you require and that is different for everyone. They talked about having certain chaos compared to having things organized. Our group discussion was very helpful this week because I got to see how other people have experienced art in their churches and we talked about the use of creating art during the service. I think this can be very impactful but again hard to draw a line to where it is distracting and for the wrong reasons. We also looked into renewing of the mind and how God has been there for us to calm us down and when we look at the past we can feel that God worked through us there. Our minds can be overwhelming and busy and that is when we need God the most and when he strips us away that makes it even more difficult to see His love.

Class discussion
Comparison is one thing that we fall into day, to day. We often compare what we are going through, the way we do things, the way we look, the way we dress to the way that others do. In class we discussed the downfalls of comparison. We can often sink into this pit and we can get lost in that. But it is important to know that our journey is not there, we cannot compare the way that people do things, they do the process.
We are unique, God made us each one of a kind. So the way that we do things, the way that we grow, is dependent on ourselves and not on the work of others. When we begin to think about and reflect on how others do things. When we begin to do this we begin to lose ourselves and what we are doing,

Try Turning Classroom Talk into Writing with This
As more and more schools turn their attention to teaching writing, I wanted to create easier ways for teachers to begin adding writing to their practice. It can be overwhelming and intimidating to do so, even for English teachers. I shared one example previously. Here's another I call Relay Write. Instead of giving students 3-4 minutes to have a table or group discussion, use a Relay Write to have them write their conversation instead. Remember to make the question or prompt one that naturally lends itself to multiple perspectives and nuance. (Students have to have something to write about and respond to.) And, use a timer to keep the pace of the writing up--like 1-2 minutes max per writer. See what you think. Read the full article
