Lexa deserved to see Clarke tipsy. Lexa deserved to see Clarke laughing, unhindered. Lexa deserved to see Clarke jealous. Lexa deserved to see Clarke act like a dork. Lexa deserved to see Clarke flirt with her when she is desperately trying to keep serious. Lexa deserved to be able to pick Clarke up and swing her around after coming back from a long trip away from Polis. Lexa deserved to see Clarke in an old world dress. Lexa deserved to get inducted into Clarke’s friend group. Lexa deserved the chance to make Abby like her. Lexa deserved to live a happy life with her soulmate. Lexa deserved to have her lover by her side as she handled any challenges that were thrown her way. Lexa deserved to study ancient earth and Skaikru customs and get down on one knee to propose to Clarke. Lexa deserved to spend countless hours designing their bonding tattoos together. Lexa deserved to have a small yet elegant ceremony with everyone who mattered to them gathered to see the two declare their love to each other eternally. Lexa deserved to live. Lexa deserved better.

Medusa and The Blind Woman

Act II

Lexa watches from her little nook made up of nothing more than a rickety chair and table as she takes in the form of her newfound resident half-hobbling toward the nest of leaves that takes up the better portion of what used to be her lounging room. 

Clarke leans heavier on her stick than usual, less using it to find a path for herself and instead wobbling with it as more of a crutch. Her steps are slow and lopsided as she lowers each foot with delicate precision, wincing with every inch forward.

"What's the matter?" Lexa finally asks when she can't take the staccato hisses anymore. 

Clarke startles but recovers just as quickly. "Oh. You're still up.”

“Yes. What is the matter?”

“Huh?”

She releases an annoyed sigh because despite all evidence that Clarke shows whenever she mercifully doesn't feel like talking, Lexa is painfully aware she is, in fact, not deaf as well as blind. 

"I asked, ‘what is the matter’."

"Nothing," Clarke says, sounding strained and tired as she takes another hobbled step toward her bedding. "All good here. What's the matter with you?"

"You're limping."

"Just taking my time."

"Clarke."

"Medusa."

Lexa fails to swallow the rumble of her growl. "Fine then." 

Her words are snipped. The matter all but settled in her annoyance as she goes back to her work of stripping the bark from stems and saplings she'd gathered earlier that morning. 

What should she care about this obnoxiously stubborn intruder to begin with?

Clextober 2024

Hey everyone! Time got away from me and I didn't really get around to planning anything for Clextober this year but I noticed we had someone share a post and I figured what the hell we could still do it and just have the rest of October towards Clextober. This year we will do 31 prompts for Clextober. Post anytime this October. We will not have a set week. So pretty much anything Fall or Halloweenish I will reblog. Sorry for dropping the ball this year. How To Participate:

Clarke: “I don’t want the next commander, I want you.”

And in that moment you can see Lexa’s heart breaking again, knowing that this is the one thing she cannot give Clarke.

She relishes in the touch of her lover, only mere hours ago were they pressed against each other, yesterday’s hopeful prayer of “not yet” had turned into “I can’t pretend any longer that I don’t love you”

And with her last breath, she kissed Clarke, letting go of the girl who had grown to mean everything to her, only letting go with the hopeful promise that her sacred vow to Clarke would be left unbroken
