Hi!! I'm in love with your work, you're so talented!
I'm curious, is there any sacred/magical weapon like Excalibur in BoC world? If so, does Mordred get to find one in the story? It would be very interesting if they get a sacred weapon from the Lady of the Lake or a magical one based on they dragon blood or a cursed/demonic one in the evil route.
I get so immersed in the story that mine imagination goes wild! I'm looking forward to be a sorcerer knight and also to our encounter with Merlin 👀 i got a lot to say about the prophecy right on his face! Haha
Keep doing your amazing work!
Greetings, Anon
Yep, there is an Excalibur that was given to Arthur by the Lady of the Lake (or rather, was given to him by the lake; he didn't really see the fae, no one's seen her in a really long while lol). The sheath has healing powers, but it's blade can also poison.
There's also Clarent, which here is the sword in the stone; it was forged by dragons and charmed by Merlin to only be wielded by a Pendragon. It was meant to show Arthur's legitimacy in a showy, effective way - especially since his scales had yet to appear at the time. Nowadays it's mostly a ceremonial sword.
They'll both come into play later 👀
Thank you so much! 💕

You know one of my biggest pet peeves about the Fate franchise? I am honestly sick to death of all the Excalibeams. So many sword-wielding Servants' Noble Phantasms are just copies of Artoria's; Mordred, Siegfried, Musashi, Takeru, even Okita Alter to an extent. It's bad enough that they constantly try to exploit the OG Saber's look for marketability, but even her legendarily badass sword laser has been overdone to the point that it doesn't feel as special anymore.
So, feeling somewhat inspired and perhaps just a tad spiteful, I decided to slightly tweak two of these NP's to seem slightly more unique.
Clarent Blood(?) Arthur A recreation of Mordred's killing blow against the King of Knights. Even after being pierced with the Holy Lance, Mordred's anger and rebellious spirit drove her to strike out against her father, thus bringing the reign of King Arthur to its end. This attack is a recreation of that fateful moment: a deadly strike that embodies rebellion and the fall of a nation. Its power is exponentially increased against those of royal blood or those said to have ruled countries of their own.
Balmung Blood(?) Fafnir A manifestation of Siegfried's battle against the Evil Dragon. Siegfried bore no malice or resentment toward Fafnir, having slain it simply because he was asked to do so; because it was his duty as a warrior and hero. The legendary sword Balmung thus gained a reputation as a 'dragon-slaying blade,' and this attack is the embodiment of that legend. Its power is increased exponentially against great beasts, particularly those of draconic origin.
Yeah, if it wasn't obvious, I wanted to focus on these two because of scene in Apocrypha where they clash. I thought it would make more sense for them to not be sword beams, but rather powerful sword strikes that recreate the final moments of Mordred and Siegfried's most iconic battles. Fate already portrays them as borderline opposites (which sadly isn't explored super in-depth in Apocrypha), with Mordred being driven by intense emotion while Siegfried is more cold and indifferent.
Admittedly I'm torn about the use of "Blood" in the NP names, but maybe I can go back and workshop those later.

Clarent, the Sword in the Stone
So I'm continuing to learn how to draw the environment.
I think my next drawing will have something to do with trees.
Just need to figure out how to portray a tree in an epic way...

After months of being unable to finish a drawing it suddenly felt like a good idea to draw Clarent. A few hours and several curses towards over designed anime swords later, I had this. It's not perfect but chasing perfection is a recipe for staring at the screen and crying, so I'll take good enough.
I'm thinking about drawing Mash's shield next. It'll provide a different challenge in that I think it'd look weird at a 45 and I'm not used to drawing items going straight up.

“Now, how about you simmer down before things get out of hand?”
Threatening another Bisharp, least of all one of your pack, was not wise. But Clarent knew Parry well. For all his threats and words, he truly was nothing more than a meek little coward, a follower of Harpe who did all the dirty work. Even with her blade against his neck, he wasn’t about to do anything to risk his own life. She was stronger than him, and he knew it. Sure, she may have set him off to begin with, but that’s just what happens when he gets into someone else’s business. It’s not her fault he’s so easy to provoke.
“I came out here to hunt. Any other distractions were coincidental. My duty is, first and foremost, to feed my battalion as well as myself. Do you understand now?”
Parry nodded, as Clarent lowered her blade. Parry didn’t retract his own, continuing to stare down at her, but otherwise stayed silent. How very wise of him.
“Now, tell me, what are you doing out here? I’d like to think our lovely lady hasn’t gone as far as to send you to stalk me. You’re out hunting for her, aren’t you?”

Could you draw Sir Constantine? I never see art of him.
Tumblr media
Sir Constantine! I couldn't find any description of what he looked like from the medieval sources sadly but man did he have a rough time. He’s related to the Pendragon line by blood and is in some stories the successor of King Arthur. But like, ruling after the most powerful king of your lifetime, King Arthur, has died and having to live up to his mythical reputation!! Poor guy has too much to live up to! No wonder he becomes a monk in Le Morte!

Clarent: "Oh, you've got an egg! You said it was your first one? Congratulations!" The part about it not being Mac's egg seems to have flown completely past her, "Be sure to keep it warm, and be very careful! They're very fragile. Though, I never tried traveling far with my son's egg, I'm not sure if carrying it in your arms is he best method? Do you have a carrier of some sort? Perhaps not your chest, but maybe you might have something softer to keep it safe?"

a bit of a janky solution, but a solution nonetheless!
