Do you ever think about how Kirk had a "best friend" on the ship before Bones in Gary Mitchell, a man who:
a) deviously manipulates him into heartbreak for Mitchell's benefit,
b) shames him for not being "fun" enough when he's in a position of power,
c) openly insults intelligent and powerful women,
d) treats everyone cruelly as soon as he gets power and tries to seize everything for himself,
e) finds it fascinating that he can stop a person's heart for fun, and
f) tries to murder Kirk instead of admitting that he's a danger to the universe,
and then chooses to replace him with Bones, a man who:
a) tries to save Kirk from heartbreak at every opportunity,
b) gets him to smile and relax by being genuinely interested in how he's doing and telling him that he's great and respected just as he is,
c) openly toasts intelligent and powerful women,
d) treats everyone kindly as soon as he gets power and tries to use it to help as many people as he can,
e) cries about how people suffered when medical treatments were less advanced, and
f) says, "Jim, I can't destroy life, even if it's to save my own. I can't."
because I do

It is so unbelievably funny to me that we absolutely 100% know that we're getting a Malina sex scene this season and yet the whole fandom is sitting around wondering if the upped rating and comments about 'steaminess' means we're getting a dramatic dream sequence about the most touch-averse couple in the show

like. there's so many individual scenes that are just such perfect reenactments from the books with the actors giving brilliant performances. but zoom out and those scenes are just so ill-conceived and unearned I'm going to be sick

They sanitized being queer so much in Veilguard and for what. Your Inquisitor still needs to be binary, and god forbid if they transitioned between games. And for what, Cullen and Solas? Girl, dump him and take his gender. It won't fix you but it'll make shit funnier.
IF more than one romance actually mattered id understand it being too complicated to allow for transition, but seriously? only solas gets more than a codex entry afaik, how hard it would have been to have the m inquisitors record voice lines and have gareth david lloyd record alternate versions of like..any gendered lines which i assume there aren't many of. they should have dropped the illusion that romances had content and just done a 'did you romance solas?' toggle that any inquisitor could turn on lol

I'm 327 pages into City of Bones, and so far I like the fuckboy love interest better than the nice guy love interest, and I am so disappointed in myself.

this is my dream ending:
ep 9 = jamie and/or roy coming out. keeley breaks up with jack. jamie helps get roy and keeley back together somehow.
ep 10 = man city, baby! we meet jamie’s mom and learn more about his relationship with his shitty dad. roy and keeley are holding hands in his room. (??!!!) they discuss the roy kent poster on the wall and jamie’s crush when he was younger. the beginnings of a perfect ot3 relationship!
ep 11 = idk, plot set up?? starting to wrap up loose ends. maybe roy and keeley are giving it a go, but they realize that without jamie, their relationship has many of the same issues it had before.
ep 12 = richmond beats west ham to win it all! roy, jamie, and keeley confess their love to each other and they all get a happy ending!

I just finished the green bone saga and although it wasn’t my favorite series I have never felt this kinda heartbreak from a book before. I seriously feel like I lost one of my own family members.
I dont know how I’m going to get over this.

⚠️A BIT OF HOFAS SPOILERS⚠️
ACOTAR “THEORY” (or more like a comment)
I’m getting ready for the acotar 5 theories that will surely come out, so I’m doing a quick reread of ACOWAR and ACOSF
And I came across this: in ACOWAR we learn from the Bone Carver that he let himself be locked up in the Prison by a ancient fae woman (whose bloodline still runs in some humans) because he was afraid of his siblings, The Weaver and Koschei (the lake wizard)
NOW in Hofas we learned that it was Silene who locked creatures/people in the Prison as some sort of redemption with herself. So now, here’s what I’m thinking:
- Most likely Sarah changed her mind on who locked who up in the prison, because if Silene locked The Bone Carver, then the “ancient fae woman’s” bloodline in not really in the humans. It’s Rhys 🤔. Unless someone helped her, then someone else locked him up ….
Just saying this, cause there was this theory that bloodline running in humans would mean something to the Archeron sisters. And that could tie them even more with Koschei plot line (especially Elain, who is, already, really tied with it)
- And also, The Weaver and Koschei were locked in the Prison (as we well know), but rather they were locked in a specific place, the cabin and the lake. Was that Silene??? Or was the “ancient fae woman”??
Honestly, maybe this will never mean anything in future acotar books, but it is something we learned early on about the Prison. And, now, we learned even more about it. But, also, everything might just be a hole in the plot 🤷‍♀️
We’ll find out lol
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk ✨

If I had a nickel for every time one of Rebecca Schaeffer’s protagonists started off their book by trying to be a better person and help someone else, only to be immediately fucked over by that same person, I would have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

(Major spoilers) Kaul Maik Wen is probably the strongest and the most tragic character in The Green Bone saga.
Born from the Maik family who had bad reputation.
Is stone eyed and thought she could never do important think because she’s a jadeless woman. (Also blamed herself because her son was like her)
Still went on a secret mission while having a career as an interior designer.
Survived three murder attempts.
Had been paralyzed on one side for several years while having her husband blaming her for her action. (And also cheat on her)
Her eldest son left her to the enemy side
Lost both her brothers, youngest son, and later her husband
Yet she’s still the kindest and most forgiving and understanding character throughout the entire series (only second to Anden)
