The Earth Station One Podcast - Ghost Stories And Urban Legends

Mike, Mike, Rick Baldwin, and Cheri Brown find themselves possessed with spirits as they continue to recount more tales of grisly grim (and occasionally gracious) ghosts. Reclaiming the Punisher logo one piece at a time. @AskegardJeremy @Dameredbento @chuckypin @GerryConway
As I write this, there may be minutes left on Gerry Conway’s Skulls for Justice campaign. It’s raised over $76,000 for Black Lives Matter Los Angeles. To celebrate Pride and to reflect some issues happening right now in our country, some friends and I created a comic inspired by the campaign. Introducing Rook, our trans protagonist.

Last Line Tag
I was tagged by the lovely @april-thelightfury115 to post the last line of a WIP I wrote. This is from a little ficlet I’ve been playing around with when I’m stuck on my Animagus Fest fic:
And when Draco read out the ridiculous articles about him from the Prophet, Harry chucked the crusts of his toast across the breakfast table at his boyfriend and called him a prat.
Tagging @peachpety, @pineau-noir, and @phd-mama, if they’d like to share.

As the new issue one is getting closer to completion, I got a couple things to say before I continue… I wish to apologize to EVERYONE even the ones who decide to cut ties with me for my behavior several months back, I truly mean it from the bottom of my beating heart. If though who willing to forgive most power to you. If though are still holding grudges do to some of my past unfortunate trespasses than I won’t hold it against you and I have to deal with the aftermath for the rest of days.
Well enough about the past, time to more forward to the here’s and now.
Here’s the official summary for my official series from Malleyverse Studio: They Call Him: Marvelous.
They Call Him: Marvelous tell the story of Malcolm Garfield, a former police tactician turned private detective who secretly defends the city of Golden Bay (a retro-futuristic fictional version of my hometown San Francisco) from evil, corruption, and villainy as a genetically enhanced but audacious masked avenger known simply as Marvelous.
If you like I’m Gonna Git U Sucka, Black Dynamite, Luke Cage, or even Black Lightning…? This series is my love letter to the blaxploitation genre in the modern day. Originally the series was inspired by Fist of Justice by Ed Dukeshire and Mike Imboden until a certain creator jokingly pointed out that my character looks like a Luke Cage knockout and decided to improve that.
To anyone is wondering by the rate of this series? It’s 13+, this is for 13 and up but I’m working on another series that is all ages in the near future. But for right now I’m currently working on They Call Him: Marvelous with my official crew. With me as Creator/Writer, Zilson Costa as the series’s artist, Dreezy Ace Abdool as the series’s colorist, Tony Pessanha Jr. as the series’s cover artist with various others doing variant covers, and Chuck Pineau as the freelance editor until further notice.
I’m trying to push for a October release exclusively at Baltimore Comic Con before starting my own website and possibly do a Kickstarter for the series as a starting point.
That’s all I have to say for now. Until next time, this is Malley Simpson saying ALAKAZOO! Stay safe! And most importantly BE MARVELOUS!

Planet Comics #2
Tumblr media
Planet Comics #2 Antarctic Press 2020 Amazona Returns Written & Illustrated by Kelsey Shannon Manta 01 By David Hutchison Alien Life Written by Chuck Pineau Illustrated by Zechary Gray     In March 1940, Planet Comics introduced Amazona, the Mighty Woman in an odd, yet thrilling adventure that promised her return in the next issue. She was never to be seen again. Now, the full fate and secret will be revealed as Kelsey Shannon lifts the dark veil surrounding her disappearance! Brian Denham introduces Sara Eephus, a salvage contractor who finds and revives an ancient mecha intent on completing its primary objective: Subjugate Mankind!    There are plenty of pros and cons to an anthology series and I’ve usually found the cons outway the pros.  Lately I have decided to give them more credit than I have in the past and I am glad that I have.  I am still not a fan of the stories that begin and end in the span of the allotted pages but by the same token if this is a test drive for a future arc of their own then I am all for it.  I also find myself more and more impressed by the writers for these vignettes as it isn’t easy to tell a full story in this page amount.      Amazon is an interesting character and I love how this is set in 1940 as the clothing and the weaponry demonstrate.  It has this ring of Dick Tracy meets Wonder Woman and it really has a lot of style and flair.  The throwback style is absolutely delightful and since Kelsey does all the work on this what we see is precisely what he wants us to in order to have the best experience possible.  He delivers on this handsomely too and I found myself loving every moment of what we see and it left me wanting more.  It does exactly what’s intended and by leaving things with a cliffhanger ending shows that he has more in store for the character and now I want to see what is going to happen next.  The writing is superb and how we see the character development and the story & development unfold here is incredibly solid while engaging and piquing the interest of the reader.    I am all about a good science fiction story and the second feature provides us with a fabulous one.  I love the idea behind the story itself and how this was executed because it really is a snapshot of the members of the crew here.  It is just enough to set the stage and for us to see the kind of people they are.  That we are at the beginning of something, which for them is the middle of something, shows off this amazing ability for timing.  The writing, the layers within the story and how everything is presented here just ignites the imagination.  Since giant robots aren’t anything new or groundbreaking what makes this stick out from the crowd?   Well everything about what we see here makes it stand out in the crowd.  The writing of how they came about this is delightful and then there’s the interior artwork here.  The linework is gorgeous and how we see the utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels show a remarkable eye for storytelling.    What I absolutely loved about the final story in this issue is that it takes you through the story and gives you a total mindf*%k.  Also that this is textless everything we see visually has to excel in telling the story.  While black and white storytelling does indeed work best for this it will show any and all flaws.  Thankfully there are no flaws.  What we see is beautifully illustrated through the utilisation of the linework and various techniques utilised to bring out the attention to detail.  This is one team that can continue to work together to create these kinds of stories to put into every issue of this series.  It is that good and this format is ideal for the two of them to be more than incredibly successful.     Antarctic Press is a phenomenal small publishing out specialising in creator owned books.  I wish I had paid more attention to them in the past but we all know hindsight is 20/20.  If you want to see some sensational storytelling then give this a shot and you’ll see what I already know.  One of the best anthology series I am reading is this one.

Hello from the other siiiiiide...
So a friend (Chuck Pineau) mentioned to me that I should write a blog about my various experiences in the world of comic books. At first, I thought it was a bad idea since so many people question your credibility as a creator unless you have 17 comics out under Marvel and a tv show under your belt. Then I thought- who cares about what might go wrong, let’s just make this thing happen. You’ve got to have a thick skin and tall boots to be in the industry anyhow.
And here it is: guaranteed to be a slightly messy, hopefully useful, and occasionally a waxing poetic read about things that I am finding in my wanderings. I will share links and information that I find, talk about the subjects that I think are relevant to a comic book creator. My commentary will go meander around from production to personal presentation and branding, to interesting tools and inspirations to look at this cool thing I found. My hope is that with this blog, I can share what I know, learn from all of you, and hopefully strengthen the creative community. Feel free to ask questions and share: I will do the same.
Hit me up with links to share with others for tutorials or practice lines, talent to follow or showcase, ads for people looking to collaborate, etc and I will help get the word out there. Competition is a silly, superficial thing. There’s plenty of room for all of us in comic books. Let’s make the field grow and diversify.
I’ll try to keep the posts to once a week unless something strikes my fancy. The first official ‘talk over tea will be out sometime this week.

This is pretty cool. This is the first time I've done a cover for SOMEONE'S book. This is "Welcome to the Void" from Chuck Pineau. I was so ecstatic to be part of this project. I'm also grateful that the maestro of coloring, Anthony Lee @adleeart was able to assist with the coloring duties on this. Anthony really elevated this to a new level. To journey further into the void make your way to Bonfire Press' website at www.facebook.com/bonfirepress #tauruscomics #comics #comicbooks #indiecomics #indycomics #supportindy #supportindie #wip #art #artwork #comicart #makecomics #comicbook #comicbookart #inkdrawing #illustration #drawing #artistsoninstagram #inking #igcomics #drawdaily #welcometothevoid https://www.instagram.com/p/BxoHNUGAeoc/?igshid=1vaorb59atwdl
