I fucking love Captain Jack like how did they get away with epic bisexual rep in 2005 like that. 19 years ago. They never even make fun of him for being gay iirc??? Or do any gay stereotypes with him?? They just make fun of him for hitting on everyone and being a General Nuisance. He’s also just a really funny & well written character with a great sense of humor PLEASE.

Him kissing both Rose and the Doctor in the season 1 finale wasn’t even treated as a shock value thing like omg .?! gay kiss ?!!how scandalous! No both kisses were PLAYED OFF AS COMPLETELY GENUINE, HEARTFELT GOODBYES. I am thrilled by this information. This show is awesome. for now.

You know, I don't think I've ever seen anyone talking about this (tho I'm sure people have) but in Doctor Who, the character Cassandra, the Last Human, is not just a silly villain. She's a character created to make a specific point. Her entire being revovles around being thin and beautiful. She's made herself into a horrifying version of humanity just to be thin.

The second episode where she truly dies, she's watching footage from the last time someone called her beautiful. She's a deeply insecure woman who has turned herself into a monster to fit human beauty standards, but there's no humans left to call her beautiful.

I just think about that and the fact that Christopher Eccleson was struggling with an eating disorder during filming and like... I wish we talked more about this. Though I'm sure at the time people did. (I came too late to tumblr to catch Dr Who analysis)

I've never really liked portraits, because I feel like they say so little of the person or character you are drawing other than plain looks... then comes Christopher Eccleson, and puts SO MUCH in a smile. I'm literally crying over Eccleston being on Big Finish. Nine has always been my favorite, I've cried over every episode he has and cheered at his cameo in the 50th anniversary. I'm so happy!

And here we are! Full circle! Back to the group picture in this 60th Anniversary Doctor Who Poster! You know I've got to ask... Who's YOUR Doctor?

Incase people are curious about my stance on the British accent mocking I genuinely just unfollowed someone who did it constantly. The reason we're actually really sensitive to it is because of stuff that I think feels culturally instinctive to us but isn't clear world wide. But accents are a big thing here. Accent discrimination is a thing. People lose jobs over it. If you want a high profile example that people on here might know, the reason beloved antimonachist Christopher Eccleson left doctor who and refused to have anything to do with it until very very recently was at least rumoured to be about accent discrimination. David Tennant had to hide his naturally Scottish accent when he took over. But it's not just that, it's a deep thing that you can study. Call centre jobs prioritise areas and people with accents considered more friendly, the BBC spent years not featuring any accent but RP (think the accent the royals have). It's a big ass deal. Kids in school are taught not to use dielect features because they're "wrong " and over the country our dielects are being leveled and removed and it does take away a part of local culture.

And then there's the accents that you guys choose to mock and it's a mixture of traditional London cockney (which I don't mind being mocked too much, it's a dick move because it's very working class but not as bad) and MLE or Multi Cultural London English. MLE is a fascinating dielect but the reason it's such a dick move to mock it is that it's our version of AAVE and because of that is often on of the main targets of being ironed out in schools because... Racism. It's not a complete parallel to AAVE, they have different orgins and influences and white people speaking in that dielect is less weird than it would be for a white person to speak in AAVE but it's rooted in Jamaican Patios. So yeah it's a pretty dickish move to mock that especially when you use the excuse of it being ok because of everything britan did during the empire because that the language primarily of immigrants who were victims of it.

Mock the UK all you like, mock our horrific history, our food, our culture in general and I'll absolutely laugh along but when you're mocking British accents you're stepping on a really sensitive area without understanding that history. I doubt if people understood the weight of mocking MLE you'd still do it.

Final note if you do want to mock British accents, the ones to mock without upsetting anyone are the posh ones. They sound way stupider anyway.

They somehow, *somehow* bribed Christopher Eccleson to reprise his role as the Ninth Doctor.

A feat that BBC couldn’t make him do even by begging and humiliating themselves. Mad respect to Big Finish, cos this is not the first time they’ve managed to talk around someone who has not been abroad, but this is by far the most impressive. Considering that Eccleston has been quite firm on not wanting to go back.

And it’s not like he’s coming back for one appearance. no no.
