Choose Growth
I grew up on a small farm in central Indiana just West of Indianapolis. In addition to a few cows and pigs and some field corn for the animals, we always had a garden. A large garden. At least an acre. We grew green beans, sweet corn, tomatoes, lettuce, cabbage, potatoes, peas, peppers, carrots, cucumbers, squash, radishes, turnips, beets, onions, eggplant, watermelons, cantaloupes, and…

Journaling is a tool available to us for healing and growth. There is a connection between the heart and the head and the hand that fascilitates healing and understanding, or at the very least, clears out the muck a bit. People understand this cognitively and want to use this tool, but have no idea where to start, or if they are writing, don't know how to move through the times when they feel stuck or blocked. This workshop can help you navigate the blocks or start the practice. You don't need to be creative or a writer, and even though there will be writing activities, no one is going to look at what you are writing or check your grammar or spelling. - Join me for this workshop where I will give you practical guides to start or your journey. DATE: 14 September TIME: 12.30-3 COST: R480 including a journal to get you started Book or enquire by emailing [email protected] OR WA 0829552282 #journaling #journalingworkshop #journeykeeper #startyourjourney #writing #writingheals #growthmindset #guideyourgrowth #choosegrowth (at Lunula Yoga Studio) https://www.instagram.com/p/BzHySliJUeF/?igshid=vtd8yhgqzbfi

Mood of the day 💡Why is this « stay toxic » trend taking over social media? Why are so many of y’all out here deliberately choosing to stay toxic ? It’s no wonder this world is mad and everybody’s out here hurting each other…your words are your spells, that’s why it’s called SPELLING. Each time you use that hashtag or say it out loud you’re manifesting a toxic mindset and toxic behaviours from you, which are only going to bring you that kind of energy in return. Does that really sound enjoyable to you? How about we try something new here: ⚠️ DON’T Stay Toxic. Stay accountable. ⚠️ Look Deep Within Yourself. Evolve. Grow. Repent. Forgive Yourself. Let Go. Move Forward. & choose to make each day better than your last. If you actually do this, let me know how much your life improves. 🤗 If anyone wants to add to that list in the comments, please be my guest! Would love to hear your best advice regarding accountability and personal development 🙏 We’re all free to do as we please but if you want to ⚠️stay toxic⚠️ you can stay far away from me because my life cause I ain’t playing around. I surround myself with those that choose to admit when they are wrong, and do something about it to change their behaviour and I won’t settle for any less. I REPEL stagnancy. Because if you aren’t growing it’s showing and you are actually regressing. Energy is always in motion. You are 100% like the 5 people you spend the most time with…birds of a feather flock together like my mama always said. 💜 So Pick Your Poison Wisely ☠️🔋 #dontstaytoxic #stayaccountable #lookwithin #evolve #grow #repent #forgiveyourself #letgo #letgod #moveforward #choosegrowth #coachkat #personaldevelopment #mindsetiseverything #digitalcreator #workfromhome #enterpreneur #bossbabe #killinit 🔋 (at Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie) https://www.instagram.com/p/ClSFJNYtkXc/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

What Now?
Have you ever been in a place where you weren’t sure what to do next and found yourself asking “What Now?”? As human beings, I think we have all been there before. Depending on the area of life we are dealing with at any given moment, whether physical, mental, sexual, emotional, or spiritual.  The question of “What Now?”  itself, can truly follow a host of situations not to mention being used as an automatic expletive as well.
How many times I remember running late to work and hopping in my car just to turn the key and to have nothing happen. “What Now?” I would huff to myself and roll my eyes. I also can recall hearing a crashing noise coming from the living room and my kids’ voices calling “M-O-M” and hollering back “What Now?” Or when my employer walked into my office with a pink slip and a grim expression and my mind swam with thoughts of “What Now?”.
Most of us, can come up with numerous occasions where this phrase has been our immediate response to whatever situation we were facing. Just like the examples I gave above, many of the memories were in times of negative events. Recently, I had the rare opportunity to ask myself this question as an actual title of an inspiration board on a website.  I suddenly realized how often I see the unknown as a negative thing in life versus a clean canvas to create with.
I’m not a big fan of the platitudes and cliche`d sayings that motivate many.  In my case, those bright light sentiments drive me deep into a good case of defiant rebellion. However, with the realization of my automatic negativity staring me back in the proverbial mirror, I had to reconsider if my contrary attitude was not only just a realistic sensibility but literally my own worst enemy.
As I attempted to piece together this positive encouraging board for a friend of mine, I found myself coming up with little that I, myself would not normally roll my eyes at. With that recognition, I began to wonder what separates the trite from the truly inspiring.  No matter what I came up with, one thing hit me over and again. It wasn’t the words that were being used but the mindset of the person receiving them. Before that moment, I hadn’t considered myself as a cynical person by any means. So, I asked some friends and family if I came across as a pessimist. One response knocked the breath out of me. “Definitely not with others but when referring to yourself, absolutely.”  What????
It took me a while to wrap my head around the reality that I was a better friend to others than I was to myself. I began to recall how I often make self-deprecating jokes when I am uncomfortable, especially in times of high risk of vulnerability. I could even remember the knowing gaze of father-in-law and the tipping his head to acknowledge my discomfort. How well he knew me.  But did I really want to be known so well that my defense mechanism was useless? Once again, the old question of “What Now?” flashed in front of me like a neon sign.
Somehow this time the question had a different sense of purpose behind it. The “What Now?” wasn’t a problem I had to fix or another in my long list of failings but a question of possibility of genuine interest in the unknown. With a simple tilt of his head this man who, so lovingly accepted the role of the only real father I had ever had, filled my heart with true acceptance without pressure to be more than I was.  He made me feel worthy of his love regardless of whether or not I felt deserving of it.
I began to look at the bucket list of my life and all the things I jokingly made excuses for not doing.  In writing down the areas of my life that I felt so completely skeptical about and started looking at those items with a new sense of longing and wonder.  “What Now?” became the title of my goal list and as one was accomplished I marked through it and added another to the list. I began to do things I had been avoiding for years. I began taking better care of myself in small ways that would eventually give way to bigger things.  I began taking risks that I would normally have wisecracked myself out of.
So, did my life change because of an attitude adjustment?  Yes!  Changing my perception of an automatic response to adversity has given me a childlike hope of potential opportunity from the simplest activities to the incredibly challenging.  I have come to believe, we all struggle with inner voices that can build us up or tear us down.  They provide us with unique choices based on which voice we listen to the most.  What matters is which voice we choose. So, What Now?"

Let's talk about "resilience" Especially during such testing times I feel that maintaining resilience is one of our most important jobs. Life is uncertain and negativity is in abundance but being able to remain even a little bit positive in the face of adversity is such a strong characteristic to have within your arsenal. Knockbacks happen and how you choose to overcome them is testament to your strength. We have every opportunity to choose to grow or lay low in the face of defeat. I choose to grow. You ever look back at your old posts and remember how much fun 😊 you had OR how much pain and heartache 💔 you went through? It's important to review and reflect, but don't dwell. #StandStrong #SupportEachOther #RemoveNegativePeople #RemoveAnyoneOrAnythingThatHoldsYouBackFromBeingTheBestYou #ChooseGrowth #DontDoThingsThatCreateMoreProblemsForYou #BeHappyYouDidntStickWithABadDecision Just remember that it is okay to remove the stupid shit from your life in order to make it better ... whether it's people or situations.
