ok ok SO, i started a drama last week anddd i finished it just yesterday and OH MY GOD. WHY IS THIS GEM SO UNDERRATED??? WHY IS THE FANDOM SO TINY?? WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THEM?? WHY IS THERE NO HYPE?? AND WHY IS THERE SO LITTLE FICS ABOUT THEM?? LIKE I'M NOT EVEN JOKING THIS WAS SO GOOD I WAS TWEAKING. i simply need ya'll to tune in and watch this and just GET my obsession. i honestly need someone to watch this to talk about it.

the arrest scene is equal to the exorcism scene.

i actually didn't find this as much scary as people made it to be tho? it was mostly just a bit disturbing but unhinged at best. the chemistry between choi yoon and yoon hwa pyung is gonna be the death of me cuz the tension was there throughout the entire show. i need to post some stuff about them in a while or else i might explode.

Reasons to love this pairing (for me):

Their canon characters and personalities ❤️‍🔥

I love both of their blunt and straightforward manners, and especially Kang Gil Young’s brashly IDGAF attitude (she is so, so awesome 🤩)✨

Choi Yoon’s at times stoic kindness, and how they can be in conflict yet the real concerns behind that conflict came through clearly 🥰 They were always indirectly quite sweet with each other by being honest (relatively speaking, especially on CY’s part) and showing their care (gruffly).

I also love the subtle ways CY would defer to KGY later on, his often conciliatory attitude towards KGY. Or how much he trusted her to have his (their) backs. The ways he gradually opened up to her emotionally (in friendship). They made me squee so hard all the time while watching the show 🫣🥵😳

Canonically, (post-canon) you can make the case for the both of them being inexperienced - total greenhorns - in matters relating to emotional, physical and sexual intimacy, and would have to learn as they go along while being together (when already in their thirties), which is a trope I love dearly!

Also a pairing I could easily envision - canonical personalities and characteristics - being initially shy and adorable about their sex life but getting a bit freaky and kinky about it later due to their many issues?! What could be better?

Or the many ways they could bring a large measure of peace, understanding and companionship for each other?

And then Kang Gil Young being older and the more aggressive/take charge personality between the two? (Technically ‘age gap’/noona trope - if you stretch it 🤭 - *another shipper-fangirl screech*) That dash of light femdom spice in the mix? Literal OTP dreams-come-true❤️‍🔥

Their visuals are unsurpassed. Few male actors get my attention and most of the pairings (the dynamics and complementary factors are the main reasons for any love) I have loved through the years - with real life performers - usually just had me being ga ga over the actress, with the male characters (actors) merely a tag along (if) or tolerated in terms of interest.

To have two of my favorite types of visuals/aesthetics (in particular the actor because that is exceedingly rare) onscreen at the same time is literally the first time in my decades of fangirling❣️😭😍🤩

I always lament my drily mediocre, piss poor writing, and still fervently wish that a writer of better caliber (aside from the one other amazing KGY/CY fic around) will one day write for them. Never feeling as cringe as when I reread my scribbles of them 🥶😭😢🫠 but still often do because no other way to feed the fixation 🫥

That line “Have we met before?” could be construed as a pick up line in another genre/dynamics. As it was - to me - it pointed to the family resemblance between Choi Yoon and his elder brother, and how KGY had basically memorised the face of the man who killed her mother. It is such a throwaway line but held within the few words worlds of meaning and trauma. Such an impactful and poignant scene (the poor “babies” 😭).

As a Kang Gil Young fangirl, I am also constantly and always amazed by how straightforward - and unbelievably rude - she was to Choi Yoon. 😅😂🤣 She truly had zero f**** to give (One of the many reasons why I love her so…)

Loved the fact that there is a mirror to Yoon’s - and Hwa Pyeong’s earlier - expressed gratitude towards KGY (for saving them) in Ep 13.

(As a shipper, I have rewatched this scene multiple times and each and every instance, it was impossible not to squee with all my heart. The first quiet and meaningful interaction between Kang Gil Young and Choi Yoon, ladened with layers of emotions and meaning. Beautiful in all its simplicity. A shipping mind is not wholly rational but then, where would be the fun in logic? Love them to beyond and back 🥰)

As a fixated shipper, it is quite frustrating that this drama had few scenes of them together in one frame facing the viewers although there were no lack of interactions, due to the angles they utilized prominently for the show. I mean, I love the framing and angles dearly (Jung Eun Chae and Kim Jae Uck truly have the most beautifully entrancing of side profiles, and the style employed for the show did them a lot of justice), but they are exasperating, nonetheless.

This is my main complaint - as a shipper - for this beloved show 😫🥺🤪

Being a pathetic rare pair(s) shipper is un-ironically hilarious because I always cringe at the writing whenever I reread my own fics but nonetheless enjoyed myself thoroughly each and every time.
