Unlikely Friends (note the last name is first) but I will use sung-joon name first, cause she calls him by his first name.

Y/n: Why did you call me here so soon Sung-joon? You questioned, as you walked into his hotel room while taking off your shoes.

Sung-Joon: Oh...sorry. Yes, I need help with my clothes.

Y/n: Your clothes? Why did you need my help with that? You never ask for my help with that before...oh how are feeling? After the rain incident, are you okay? You asked, as you took a few steps forward, placing your hand on his forehead.

Sung-Joon: Um...yes.im fine. I just...breakfast? Sung-Joon asked, as he turned around fast.

Frowning, you followed after him as you both ate breakfast together in silence. Yes, you two we're friends but unlikely friends. No one would ever have thought you two would be friends but here you are.

From the first day you started at the company in America, you became friends and best friends in fact. And since the moment you arrived here, you made friends with Kim Hye-Jin.

Y/n: Oo...i better be going. I promised Hye-Jin, I would get some tea with here before work. D...do you still need me to help pick out your clothes?

Sung-Joon: No. He stood up, grabbing your jacket from the railing and helping you put it on.

Once he finished helping you, you turned in his arms and your eyes met making you both freeze. Swallowing you blinked a few times, trying to hold your breath as he looked at your facial features.

Sung-Joon leaned in placing a soft kiss on your forehead, which caused you to close your eyes.

Sung-Joon: Be safe. He whispered in your ear, as he hugged you tightly. You don't know this place that well.

Y/n: I'll be fine. Hye-Jin, will be there to guide me. You replied with a bright smile, as you headed for the door.

Time skip to work

Shin-Hyuk: Awe, there you are Lady-Bug. He said outloud, which caught Sung-Joon's attention.

Y/n: Why do you keep calling me that Shin? That's not my name.

Shin-Hyuk: But you call me Shin. He said, as he grind at you as you made coffee for everyone.

Y/n: But your name is Shin-Hyuk, Shin is just a nickname.

Shin-Hyuk: Yes, and yours is Ladybug. Since that ladybug landed on your nose, I thought it'll cute. He said, as he poked your nose.

Laughing, you gave Shin his coffee while calling the rest. Shin winked at you, which set him off.

Joon-Woo: Y/n, would you like to assist me on this? He asked, as he showed you an article he's writing.

Y/n: Sure. But I think your doing a great job. If you want I could take the photos, that is if it's okay with you Shin. You asked, with a bright smile.

Shin-Hyuk: Sure, I'll come with you both and make a day of it. Since I'm teaching you how to take photos, the three of us can go out.

Joon-Woo: I can't. I need to stay here, and help the Chief Editor.

Shin-Hyuk: Okay, just me and Ladybug. He said with a wink, as he gave you a side hug when Sung-Joon walked into the office and saw you.

Swallowing Sung-Joon wasn't enjoying what was happening, breathing in he walked past the three of you and dismissed the act as it was nothing to the eye.

You and Shin-Hyuk, were at a dam taking pictures of the beautiful site that was efore you for the magazine. The dam, ran into a river which caused you to smile even brighter as you took the pictures.

Y/n: wlWhat do you think of these Shin? You wondered, as he looked over your shoulder.

Shin-Hyuk: Ahh...they are beautiful. He said, in response to your question.

Shin-Hyuk barely moved, as you turned which caused a collision. You were falling backwards which caused Shin-Hyuk, to catch you in his arms. Your breath was caught in your throat, as was his. You both not even blinking, you could feel Shin-Hyuk's arms pulling you closer as he steadied you on your feet.

Shin-Hyuk: A...are you okay? He whispered, as he looked into your y/e/c.

Y/n: Y...yes. You responded.

Suddenly you pulled away from Shin-Hyuk, as you both cleared your throats acting like the event that just accoured never happened.

Y/n: Would you l-

Cut off by your phone, you read the message you received from Sung-Joon.

Where are you? Can we meet for dinner at the hotel? I would really like to meet up with you.

"To Ji Sung-Joon"

Sure I'll meet you for dinner, what should I bring?

"From Ji Sung-Joon 😜"

Sung-Joon typed out on the text, making you nod in reply.

Y/n: Shin. I...i should go. You spoke, as you picked up your bag on the floor and started running to your car. Driving to your home, you took a quick shower as you thought of what to wear. After a while after you took a shower, you chose a nice dress and shoes to wear to your dinner with your friend.

Satisfied with your look, you grab your bag and ran out of the door to your car and drove to the hotel. Knocking on the door, Sung-Joon smiled as he saw your face as he opened the door.

Y/n: Hey.

Sung-Joon: Hi. He said, as you gave each other a high-five. Ready for dinner?

Y/n: I sure am. You giggled, as you followed Sung-Joon into the kitchen. Wow, did you make this? You asked, as you looked at the ramen, sushi and soup.

Sung-Joon: I had a little help. Hye-Jin, helped me. He said, as he scratched his neck feeling akward.

Y/n: Oo. You spoke, after trying the soup. Wow Sung-Joon, this is delicious.

Sung-Joon: You...you look very nice.

After Sung-Joon said that, he stepped forward taking you by the waist as he pulled you in for a kiss.

Pulling away, you looked up at your friend your eyes looking deeply into his soul.

Y/n: Sung-Joon-

Sung-Joon: Don't. He whispered, as he cupped your cheeks. I-

Cutting him off fast, you kissed him again allowing his soft pillow lips to collide with yours. In a passionate, and warm kiss.

Y/n: I...i. Ever since we started working in New York, I always liked you and-

Sung-Joon: Shh. I feel the same way. Now stop talking so I can kiss you. He said, with that beautiful smile which caused you to melt.

You made your way to the front, the sound of your name, leaving nearly everyone shocked but your best friend, who had the biggest grin on her beautiful face. No one had expected you to get through, not even yourself. A blush blankets your face as you make your way to the line at the front. A moment passes as everyone waits for the ladies who did not get through to leave the smaller courtyard.

"Congratulations ladies" you hear Hoseok speak, breaking the silence, whilst looking over each and every one of you. You don't know if you were just imagining it, but the tall and handsome man had sent an almost imperceptible smile your way, making your eyes go wide. "Now, myself and Jungkook will tell you your residences, and we will also assign you 2 maids and a manservant for you to use at your convenience"

"Let's start with the furthest away from this little courtyard shall we?" Jungkook questioned, though the question was rhetorical.

"Bae Suzy, You are in the Sapphire Apartment. Along with the manservants, you brought along with you, you are also being assigned Shin Won-ho as your manservant and Kim Tae-Yeon and Chou Tzu-yu as your maids. Please proceed to your apartment"

"Next we have the Chariote Apartment, the person who will be staying there is Han Sun-Hwa. You are being assigned Lee Jong-Hyun, Jeon So-Yeon and Kwon Yu-Ri. Please proceed."

The process carried on.

"Ruby Apartment is for Hwang Yeji, You are assigned Kang Dong-Ho, Ahn Sol-Bin and An Yu-Jin. Please proceed.

"Opal Apartment. Kim Seol-Hyun. Woo Ji-Ho, Son Chae-Young, Cho Seung-Hee"

"Carnelian Apartment. Kwon Eun-Bi. Yoo Ki-Hyun, Lee Hae-in and Lee Young-Yoo"

"Amber Apartment. Choi Mi-Young. Doh Kyung-Soo, Bae Woo-He, Baek A-Yeon"

"Azurite Apartment. Kim Si-Jeong. Lee Byung-Hun, Go Woo-Ri and Park Hye-Won"

At this point, everyone had left apart from you. "Miss Seo, as you were an unexpected candidate, your apartment is still getting ready and the maids needed a few more moments, so we were trying to prolong this for as long as possible. You have been assigned Moon Jong-Up, Ahn Hye-Jin who goes by Maria or Hwa-Sa and Jun Hyo-Seong. I hope that they treat you well. To prolong this even longer as we have not received the signal that they are ready, we are going to give you a tour, are you okay with that?" The pair asked.

"Perfectly." You responded. "It would be my honour" You carried on with a smile. "Please, Lead the way". The two young men smiled at you, before moving down the stairs towards you. Suddenly, you felt incredibly nervous, these incredibly attractive young men were looking directly at you, with no signs of distate anywhere on their faces or bodies. The men took a space on either side on your, Hoseok moving his arms to point the way out of the courtyard. "Do you have a flower that you appreciate the most?" Jungkook asked "Good question Kookie" Hoseok said, the nickname making your eyes widen again, almost not expecting the men to be so close that they were using nicknames. "We might have your favourite here in one of the gardens"

"Cherry blossoms, Chief State Councillor and High Councillor. My most appreciated flower of all is Cherry Blossom." The two men share a look between each other. "That is our Gracious King's favourite, so much that he has a garden dedicated to it, coincidentally, the garden is right next to your apartment" A small gasp left your lips, the excitement evident not just on your face but on your whole body as you turned to both of them, your hands clasping together joyfully. "Really!?! Can we go there?" You asked hopefully. Both men smiled at your excited state before telling you that you could, and led the way, right to the entrance of the garden. There was a small bridge to cross before you would actually be in the park, and you ran quickly across it, accidentally forgetting about the two men behind you. You span round quickly, a giant smile on your face, trying to look everywhere at everything.

"I take it that you like the garden," a voice behind you, which you quickly identified as Hoseok, spoke. "Almost more than anything in the world," You said without thinking. Both men let out a laugh, which made you look at them with a questioning gaze. "You have almost the same reaction as the Good King". This very sentence made you stop in your spot, your face dropping, looking almost horrified to be compared to the King. "Omo, I am not worthy of being compared to our gracious King" You spoke, anxiously wringing your hands together. "My apologies Lady Seo, we didn't mean to make you anxious," Jungkook said. You noticed a young woman run up to the two men and yourself. She spoke quietly to the men, before bowing and turning away. The two men turned to you, smiling slightly "Your apartment is ready Lady Seo, let us lead you there" Hoseok said. Nodding, you spoke gently "Please do lead the way". You bow gently, allowing the men to turn around and lead the way out of the garden that you had fallen in love with, and almost didn't want to leave.

It took barely two minutes before you arrived in front of the apartment. "This is the Emerald apartment. Next to you, there is the Queen Dowager's Garden, you are not allowed to enter that space without her explicit permission" Jungkook stated sternly. "And on your other side is Lady Hwang" Hoseok finished. This made you smile, your apartments here, being closer to each other than the houses in your town were. "Lady Hwang Yeji is my best friend," You spoke gently, a small but warm smile on your face at the mention of your best friend. "We have known each other since we were born, my eomma likes to say that I have two sets of parents, both our parents raised both of us..." you paused, your smile turning into a frown "well my eomma and Yeji's parents, my appa..." you spoke again, your frown becoming bigger. "You don't need to tell us, Lady Seo" Hoseok said calmly, laying a gentle hand on your shoulder. You look up, and into the handsome man's eyes, your eyes slightly blurry with tears, making something flash in Hoseok's eyes. "I feel like I almost need to" you spoke "My appa, he used to be a good man, until he fell from grace, he lost a lot of his respect, and therefore money, and the money he did keep, he used to drink. He would blame me for his drinking, he would tell me it was my fault, that he wished it was I who died and not my sister. Before I left, he attacked me for the first time, he dragged me by my hair to the floor and yelled at me. My eomma, she's a wonderful woman, she grabbed him by the ear and dragged him out of the house once she realised he was in my room and harming me. Appa had a bruise on his ear still, when I left for the procession. My bruises still remain intact too, but when I remember what my eomma did, the fire in her eyes, I feel proud to be her descendant" You finally finished your story.

You could see anger clearly on both men's faces. "I know I need not worry about my eomma whilst I'm here, she is as fierce as the summer in the sky in the summer sky." The warm smile lay on your lips, remembering your eomma. "She sounds like a wonderful woman" Jungkook spoke, a smile that could be perceived as genuine if there were someone looking on from the outside in.

"Anyway's my Chief Councillor and High Councillor, I must leave your warm presence and settle myself into my apartments. I hope to see you soon Your Honours. May the sun warm your cheeks, and the food fills your bellies" You speak eloquently, bowing low before the two handsome men, before turning and leaving their presence to enter your apartments.

The apartment that you entered was spacious and homely. In the room stood your friends Chan and Changbin with large grins on their faces, along with your assigned manservant and maids.

"My Lady, Your room is this way, would you like me to help you redress" Hyo-Seong spoke, her hand pointing to an area separate from the room you all stood in. The room was separated from the room you were in by a wall of sliding doors. The entire apartment was decorated in green and brown, the sliding doors were made of oak, and the cloth was painted with the seal of the kingdom in the colours your apartment was named after. It was a beautiful sight to behold, and you knew that if you had any spare time, you would ask your maids to retrieve any painting items they could get a hold of so that you could show this image to your eomma when you got home again. You knew that she would take great delight in your painting, and knowing how an apartment within the royal castle looked and would love the painting even more so, knowing it came from her daughter.

"That would be lovely Miss Jun" you spoke to the woman. She nodded her head as a slight bow, walking to the room you now identified as your bedroom. In the room, there was a large box placed near the window, on top of it was a new hanbok ready for you to wear. "Would you like a bath Lady Seo?" Hyo-Seong asked. You shook your head, a feeling of exhaustion coming over you in a quick wave. "Do you think it would be possible to sleep for a short period Miss Jun?" You asked hopefully. "Unfortunately not, My Lady, there is much to do. As you have reached the second stage, you must prepare for a meeting with Queen Dowager. You will soon also be accepting gifts from the royal family, of which I am unsure, but you must prepare to receive them. We must also start preparing you for your interview, and the luncheon that is happening tomorrow. There is also a Royal Banquet that we must prepare you for. I assume you have attended a banquet before, but a royal banquet is much more different to the ones of the high class" The maid in front of you explained your schedule for the coming potential one to two weeks that you would be residing in a royal apartment.

"Very well, then we must begin," You say a small polite smile on your face. "What's first?" you ask. "First My Lady, we must dress you," she says, returning your attention back to the box that had caught your attention when you first walked into the room. You didn't recognise the hanbok, remembering all the ones that you owned. "I apologise, but this is not my hanbok," you tell your maid "No My Lady, the Queen Dowager sent this. It's the first gift from the royal family." Excitement fills your body, knowing that this was something that the Queen Dowager herself had someone make and be sent. "But only 6-7 were predicted, and I'm not the average size", you questioned slightly, the anxiety that you had felt earlier in the day returning in full force. "The Queen Dowager had this one sent specifically, it was a hanbok she had in her storage, she wore it when she was pregnant with the King. She sent a letter along with it" you were told before being handed the letter

Dear Lady Seo,

The Royal Family apologises for not having anything prepared for you. I did not have a gift prepared for you, however, your crest is a crest that has a long line, and the crest on your hanbok is a phoenix. This was my family crest before I married King Sejong, the King's late father. It was a hanbok I wore when I was pregnant with the King. I hope that it does you well, as it is now yours. Please meet me in my gardens at 3.

"What time is it?" You ask loudly, waiting for anyone in the household to respond. "2:30" you hear someone yell, unsure of who it was due to the closed doors between you. You feel your face pale. Turning to your maid you speak again "We must hurry, please call Miss Ahn in, time is not on our side". The maid nods, before running the door and calling in the other woman.

Within 20 minutes, your hair had been brushed and moved into a restyled updo, behind held back with a purple dwikkoji, your under clothes being changed for cleaner ones, and then the gifted hanbok was placed onto your body. It fit almost like a glove like it was made for you. The jeogori was a gorgeous dark purple colour, decorated with golden detailing featuring a phoenix, the goreum was also in an off-gold colour. The chima was a black colour with the same golden detail. Your beoseons were black as well as your shoes which were decorated in the same gold detailing. With a few minutes to spare, your maids applied some basic makeup consisting of plant ash to apply a dark brown colour to your eyebrows, safflower was used to apply a light rouge to your lips and cheeks and cherry blossom petals took right from the very cherry blossom garden you had just been in (it was a perfume that was on the dressing table when you got here, you had just assumed it was a gift everyone received) mixed with water was used to make a delicious spelling perfume.

With exactly 10 minutes left before the Queen Dowager wanted to see you, you left your apartment, your manservant Moon Jong-Up directing you, almost acting as your guard as well as your guide. When you arrived outside the Queen Dowagers garden, which only took moments as you quickly found out was right next to your apartment, Mr Moon stepped aside to let you enter first, before following you slightly behind, allowing you to look like you had found the garden yourself.

It doesn't take long to notice the Queen Dowager, it shocked you slightly when you saw that she was wearing the same colours just the other way around. The lady in front of you turns towards you, hearing your footsteps. She waits at the top of the stairs of the Pavilion she was standing in. Once you reach the bottom of the stairs, you bow as low as possible to the elegant woman before you. "You're early Lady Seo" the woman speaks. "My apologies Your Majesty, I was excited to meet you once again." You speak, not allowing your nerves to take over your anxiety.

“Don’t be, it is a good thing for a woman to have, to have time management perfected, especially for a woman. Especially for a woman who may be the future mother of the kingdom, the future queen.” She says, her very words making you blush.

“You speak of me too highly My Queen,” you say. “I am eternally grateful for your gracious gift. The fabric is the softest thing I have ever had touch my skin. If there is anything I can do to show my thankfulness, please allow me to do it. Would you like some tea, Your Royal Highness?” you ask, noticing the teapot and teacups whilst you were looking around in nervousness.

“You need not worry Lady Seo, this is no longer a test, you do not need to pour my tea for me,” she says, her voice full of authority, before nodding slightly to a man that you almost hadn’t seen when you entered the pavilion. “You intrigue me, Lady Seo, you are so unlike the other candidates, both in looks and mentality. Most of your candidates, when I had asked them why they were doing this, responded with generic answers” she speaks “For his Royal Highness the King’s happiness, to get to know you Your Highness” she carries on, her voice changing to mimic the people she was speaking about, at the sound of her change in voice you let out a giggle, covering your mouth. “But your answer, it was different, you wanted to make your family proud. This was something I wanted when I was a candidate to marry the King's late father” she finishes, the words turning the mood serious once more. A lady, small and almost meek approached the table, taking the teapot and pouring tea into both the cups on the table, before retreating to her spot against the wall of the garden. “You have a beautiful garden My Queen,” you tell her trying to achieve the once jovial mood the pavilion had a matter of minutes ago. “I spent a few brief minutes in the cherry blossom garden, and I truly believe that it was the happiest moment of my life,” you tell her, allowing the smile to fill your face as your mind retrieves the memory you were talking of.

“The King’s favourite spot is also in the cherry blossom garden, he begged his father to plant the trees when he was still King, persuading him by telling him that he would propose to his future queen in that very garden,” the Queen Dowager tells you, allowing you a little into the past of the King, who you were yet to set eyes upon.

Before thinking, you blurt out “Were you scared when you made the application to become the late King Se-Jeong’s wife?” A few moments pass, and just as you go to open your mouth to apologise, the dowager stops you. “I was, in fact, I was terrified, to tell you the truth, I never wanted it, but I needed to do it for the pride of my family. I was lucky that I fell in love with the King eventually, and we had a good, long and happy life,” she answers with a small smile on her face, reminiscing on the memories of her past. “I actually have a few questions for you myself if you don't mind”

“It would be my honour to answer your questions My Queen” you respond, nervousness filling your body even more.

“The king is very… uh… close with his closest men. Would that be a problem with you?” she starts. “Of course not, if our Great King is happy, then I myself shall be happy,” you respond, hoping your answer satisfies her. She nods, with a small hum of approval.

“And concubines? What are your opinions on the concubines?” she continues her questioning.

You pause, this was something you had thought about. “Well My Queen, I have a feeling that if I was ever to become Queen, the other two candidates that would have gotten through, would be my school bullies-” the queen cuts you off after hearing of your bullies “Your bullies are in the palace?” She questions with an eyebrow raised.

“Yes Your Highness, Kim Seol-Hyun and Kwon Eun-Bi, their apartments are Carnelian and Opal if I remember correctly”, the Queen Dowager nods again. “So what would you do if you became Queen and them the concubines?” She asks, her interest even more peaked.

“Part of me would want to through them into the dungeons like they had threatened they would do with me earlier today. Another part of me would want all of the king's concubines gone but the biggest part of me wants the King to be happy, and if the concubines make My Great King happy, then I shall live with the concubines.” The Queen Dowager looks almost shocked. “The Kings happiness, at the end of the day, will always be my source of happiness, whether I get through to the final round, or I don’t. The King, from what I have heard in rumours spread across cities and towns, near and far, is that when the King is happy, the land thrives, and the people are well. My family are part of his people, and as well as making them proud, I desperately want them to be happy… even my father.” you tell her.

“Your father?"

The messy 'New Year's Auction'

The son's jwachungudol auction event made me laugh.

I’m actually a pretty casual fan of this show? In the sense I really do enjoy it a lot, but I haven’t rewatched either season and I don’t go seeking fic for it or write fic for it etc. Also, my memory is...BAD. So keep that in mind ok?

Favorite character: Yeo-jin! Fun story, I started the first episode of Stranger way back when because I saw it had Bae Doona, and then for like twenty minutes odd, I was like ugh this is going to be about some asshole “genius” and I’m not here for it and dropped it for...like a year? Before the hype convinced me to give it a second chance, and oh I’m so glad I did! I love everything about Han Yeo-jin; how smart and funny and more than all of that- how genuinely empathetic and moral she is! SHE!!!! Bae Doona has charm by the boatful of course, and I can’t imagine any other actor carrying off her character with such (seemingly) effortless grace.

Most underrated character: Hmm, maybe Choi Yoon-soo from the Yongsan squad? Idk I enjoy his character a lot though he doesn’t have all that much screen time.

Favorite prosecution employee (not Si-Mok): Kim Sa-hyun! Love his whole deal, tbh.

Favorite police employee (not Yeo-Jin): Is this even a question? Choi Bit FOREVER.

Favorite Si-Mok & Yeo-Jin moment: Hmm, idk, I think it’s the one in S1 where they’re fishing out someone’s phone? The “you’re annoyed” and he’s like “i’m not” and she’s like “you are so too” , just PURE DELIGHT. I also like their conversation in S2, about ethical responsibilities and its limits and boundaries.

Favorite Yeo-Jin drawing: Eh, I guess the one at end the of S1 with the smiley face?

Favorite Yeo-Jin outfit: Absolute disaster at remembering things like this, but I think she looks cute in EVERYTHING.

Favorite of Si-Mok’s Unofficial Dads TM: Kang Won-cheol, hands down. Lee Chang-jun was a great character, but I think, in the end I was like, hoo boy, you could have been less Tragic-Dramatique (TM) about this, no?

Favorite quote from the show: Aieeee, sorry, I don’t think I can remember a specific quote.

A headcanon of yours: Director Park is a plant by Lee Yeon-jae’s brother, but I think in the end he’ll come down on Yeon-jae’s side.

Drama: She Was Pretty (2015)

Starring: Park Seo Joon, Hwang Jung Eum, Choi Si Won

Rating: ★★★★★

This drama was on my to-watch list for such a long time, and I finally got around to it. I LOVE THIS DRAMA. One, because Park Seo Joon is in it and I think he’s got a really handsome face, and two, because the moral of the story is so real and true. And it some ways, I wish I could follow that motto for my life.

Now let’s dive into some of my favorite scenes:

1) When Kim Shin Hyuk came back to say goodbye to Hye Jin:

I was so sad to see that he was going to leave the office-- mostly because he just needed to move on with his life and get over her. Which he actually never did.. but that’s besides the point.

and then he told her to think of him-- but only when she sees the pickled radish. I’M DYING INSIDE. why does he gotta be so nice, and cute, and funny, and romantic?

And this scene. Can you imagine how many takes it must have taken for her to get the radish square on his tongue? I have to admit though, Choi Siwon does a brilliant job for an idol actor.

2) The bromance between the two male leads:

This scene was so funny. When the towel fell off and he turned around >.<

3) When Seong Joon says he misses her and bibimbap and he wants a bite over Skype.

All I can say is I hope someone misses me that much one day.

4) The forehead kisses!!

This is something I haven’t seen in awhile in kdramas. Maybe because I haven’t watched many older ones in a bit. So this drama bringing it back reminds me of a gentle and innocent gesture that can show someone your feelings.

5) Their wedding!! and also, their little girl-- but I couldn’t find a gif :(

She looked so prettttttyyyyyy. See what I did there? She Was Pretty... No? Okay, fine that joke was not that good.

I just wanted to end this review by saying how much I love the moral of the story. The drama ends with her narrating that “she made herself the secondary character in the story” because she always underestimated herself and always put herself second in everything she did. And then she implies that once you start to put yourself first and make yourself the main character in your life/story, that happy and great things will happen.

I just wanted to put this here because it’s something that resonates with me, and I truly hope I can instill this motto into my life.

I regretted that I avoided experiencing the ups and downs. Because I was scared. Now, I want to see the beautiful scenery of the uphills and downhills myself. That's why i decided to join 2D1N. It will be hard to go up and scary to go down. Still, i'll give it a try.

In SBS 'My Little Old Boy', which was broadcast on the afternoon of the 12th, Lee Sang-min, Kim Jun-ho, and Kang Jae-jun enjoyed the last samgyeopsal dinner before entering the fasting center to lose weight. The three of them ate too much until the paper cups were full of oil and decided to lose weight, giving laughter from the start.

Kim Jun-ho said he was handsome in the past and said that if he goes on a diet, he gets mad. Then, about the reason why he decided to lose weight, he said, "Kim Ji-min said to me that he was like an uncle. Snoring is unavoidable, but he told me to try a diet." Then, he added, "If I lose weight, I think I'll capture Jimin's heart. I think he'll propose to me." Lee Sang-min and Kang Jae-joon also assured that everyone would be surprised if they lost weight.

Dana’s Korean Drama Favorites

CHICAGO TYPEWRITER ( 시카고 타자기) From April to June 2017

Network: tvN

Number of episodes: 16

Cast: Yoo Ah In, Lim Soo Jung, Go Kyung Pyo, Kwak Si Yang, Joo Woo Jin, Yang Jin Sung

Kilig* Factor: Satisfactory. It’s there but not too in-your-face. Seju is just a total tsundere but it’s perfect because (spoiler?) it’s every fangirl’s dream to meet their idol and be able to peel back all their layers and see them for who they truly are. There’s just enough strain between them that makes you root for them but there’s also some solid, cute couple moments that I may or may not have re-watched because huhu when will I ever???

Drama Factor: SO. MUCH. ANGST. I LOVE IT. Since the plot revolves around a tragedy they can’t figure out, when more of the plot is revealed, there is so much upheaval of emotions on their part, which also affects the audience. Not too mention the main cast’s acting is no joke. Absolutely captivating. Every episode feels heavy loaded, especially the last parts. This drama made me tear up again and again because one, there’s just something about past lives that really get to me and two, the lines (thank Jin Soo Wan) and their delivery just hit home so hard.

Love Triangle Factor: This triumvirate’s affection for each other is the only Kdrama love triangle I will recognize. Their friendship is so special and it LITERALLY transcended lifetimes. The main cast’s chemistry is endearing like they’re all going through so much but they still have each other’s backs. And you know what, I love how Seol didn’t have to pick. I mean, she sort of did, but she didn’t really. Those two boys were both hers and they knew it. Sigh, now I want to be their friend.

Notes: it really isn’t a surprise that Chicago Typewriter is my favorite drama because the characters are writers/avid readers; there is a touch of supernatural in the plot which is always good in my books; there is amazing acting. I honestly couldn’t get over how well they did it (especially Ko Gyung Pyo who is now one of my favorites); there is a balance between sad and light scenes, all while letting the story progress; and there are really cute moments without it feeling like fan service. I just love this show. I finished it at 4 AM after no sleep and I was physically and emotionally exhausted but at the end, it made me want to sit down and write and work because that’s the kind of storytelling that I want the world to be filled; stories that make people want to claim their roles as heroes in their stories. And heroes they are, this unforgettable trio. The only thing unrealistic about this is that Seju lives in a mansion. Like, I get that he’s a writer and he’s famous, but a mansion? Really? That’s doubtful.

Rating: 10/10 (will watch again!!!)

*(The Filipino word “kilig” is untranslatable but the best description is “the feeling one gets when they experience something romantic” or “that heart fluttering feeling”; whichever suits your fancy.)

W: TWO WORLDS ( 더블유) From July to September 2016

Network: MBC

Number of episodes: 16

Cast: Lee Jong Suk, Han Hyo Joo, Jong Eu Gene, Lee Tae Hwan, Park Won Sang, Cha Kwang Soo, Kim Eui Sung

Kilig Factor: Hyo Joo and Jong Suk have impeccable chemistry and Song Jae Jung (bless her heart) doesn’t let that go to waste. There were times when I would pause the episode just to let what I saw sink in. I thought, “HOW CAN TWO PEOPLE LOOK THIS CUTE???” Some scenes were so kilig, I almost cried. Sure, it was defo fan service for all us thirsty, lonely hoes, however, it is duly appreciated. Many times I would finish an episode and just want a boyfriend because dammit, Lee Jong Suk. Some moments are a little cringe-y when you think long and hard about whether really people do that, but I’m not complaining. I’m perfectly fine with it.

Drama Factor: Like all good dramas should, the endings that W episodes go through crush my heart. Ultimately, it was just begging for a happy ending. I didn’t think that a sci-fi/rom-com plot was capable of making me upset but I guess that’s the charm of W; that even with loss, confusion, mystery, yearning, and all those painful adjectives, you still sit tight and grip the seat to watch it all unfold. For me, W has one of the best endings ever, a satisfying close, like a sigh of relief. To be honest, when I think about W nowadays, there’s this phantom ache in my chest just because there were scenes when I just thought, “The writer did THAT.” So word of warning, watch with detachment and if not, just be careful.

Creativity Factor: In the span of 16 episodes, W managed to scissor multiple plots and be stitched together and still not confuse the hell out of me. I think that is a plus for creativity. More often than I expected, W’s story line felt different each time a problem began. It’s an absolute roller coaster with a bunch of tropes that sometimes it felt like watching a whole other show. I personally enjoy that. It felt like an adventure, although exhausting at that. But sometimes, it does do something ridiculous that reminds you, this isn’t real anyways but I forgive that for entertainment’s sake.

Notes: Not entirely a stunning show, but a unique and imaginative one. No other drama has quite left the same impression W did with me. This was the drama I recommended the most to people. It was about creation and art as well so that appealed to me. I love the bits where Song Moo would be sketching and whatever he did started translating to reality. That must’ve been hard to shoot so I commend the director as well. W also felt quick to watch as the plot moved without dawdling too much. It was quite unrealistic and intense but still, incomparable. As for the romance, Yeon Joo and Chul = OTP.

Rating: 9/10 (when will my life become a drama???)

GOBLIN: THE LONELY AND GREAT GOD ( 쓸쓸하고 찬란하神-도깨비) From December 2016 - January 2017

Network: tvN

Number of episodes: 16

Cast: Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun, Lee Dong Wook, Yoo In Na, Yook Sung Jae

Kilig Factor: At first, I seriously didn’t like them because of the age difference and it was little weird that Eun Tak called him “ahjussi.” Later on, I got used to it and as their love story progressed, the more I got tangled with it. I absolutely can’t forget the part when it would rain and Eun Tak would cry hysterically and she had no clue why. That was such a powerful and poignant scene for me. Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun are incredible actors. They could convey such deep emotions from their characters and still retain parts of that when they become quirky. With the Sunny/Grim Reaper pairing, it felt a little dragging and draining by the end, to be honest. However, there’s this certain yearning I can’t remove that I want them to end up together. I think their relationship boosted Goblin/Eun Tak’s by showing a contrast. The kind of drama with romantic scenes that made me squeal out loud.

Drama Factor: I think there were only a few episodes I didn’t shed a tear over. The writing has this fragrant poetry structure to it that just appeals so much to a hopeless romantic like me. I know people don’t talk that way in real life but there’s just a beauty with a good string of words that can support an otherwise mediocre scene. Also, a very, very good cast. There was a lot of crying but it didn’t feel overwhelming (for me) because of how it was delivered. I think Goblin is a show I would watch if I ever doubted the supreme lightness love can bring after a dreadful storm.

OST Factor: Unforgettable. There’s a reason that Goblin’s is one of the most famous. The roster of performers in that OST is unbelievable. It’s so well chosen, especially once it’s edited as the background for a certain scene. There’s also so much to choose from that the songs post-Goblin binge watching don’t feel sickening; more nostalgic than anything. The OST by itself captures the sweet sadness of Goblin’s story and that’s a pretty good feat for a musical score to achieve.

Notes: Goblin was the very first Korean drama that I’ve watched properly and voluntarily. I was just really curious at first but then the cinematography, the music, the acting of this show absolutely blew me away. I think I cried majority of the time because I couldn’t believe I was watching such a well written show with representation of people who looked like me! (Asians!!!) I think that like the show’s theme of first love for the 900 year old Goblin, this was the perfect drama to show me how great K-dramas have become, and maybe I’m being eye roll worthy but it felt a little like finding a first love. I have nothing but fondness over Goblin and its clever story full of fate and twists and childlike innocence amidst the dark past they all share. And loneliness is something that is so palpable to me and seeing it suited up like this, made my heart clench and have hope. It’s wonderful like that.

Rating: 15/10. Just watch it. It’s worth your time.

REPLY 1988 ( 응답하라 1988) From November 2015 - January 2016

Kilig Factor: Of course I know most people don’t fall in love with their neighbors that often but this one is an exception. Romantic love wasn’t the main theme for this show however it still came through. And yes, I may be super biased when it comes to Park Bo Gum and Go Kyung Pyo and yes, them just smiling can get me riled up already BUT the love triangle presented towards the end is pretty decent and the falling-back-in-love trope with two characters is realistic and enjoyable enough. I’ve never seen a character demonstrate that kind of attitude (fiercely and stubbornly choosing their career over a relationship) before so it was quite interesting for me. There were little moments where they would reveal that this character actually liked this character, or did this for this character that would just have me punching a pillow, kicking, and screaming because dammit, that’s cute. I think it could have been better though, but as Reply 1988 isn’t solely focused on that, it’s good enough.

Drama Factor: Okay, compared to Reply 1988, my crying in Goblin was a dripping faucet. This show had me bursting like a waterfall. It was in all those moments that felt real, so, so real, I couldn’t help but weep. It was superb how Lee Woo Jeong wrote this show with tenderhearted conversations and the absolute unfairness of life that everybody can relate to and have such an awesome cast enact it in the messy times of the 80′s and translate into something a girl like me could deeply feel. Towards the end, I cried at every episode (there was always just something that hit me so much!) and it was the kind that would start as a sob and just progress then on. Inside Reply 1988 were lessons and experiences that everybody has felt or will feel or is trying to forget that universally is the same but in a different packaging. This show, to me, is the epitome of a Korean drama, unashamed and so emotional.

Food Factor: To be honest, there were far too many times Reply 1988 made me hungry. From clams to ramyun to kimchi pancakes to fish-shaped bread, they ate everything. I do appreciate it though because it exposed what Korean culture is like and how families have a good meal with each other as an act of love. I find the putting-meat/egg/vegetable/whatever-into-someone’s-bowl gesture as a unique and simple way of saying you favor someone. I also saw how important food is with the plot because as they go through changes, their food changed! When they were poor, they complained about side dishes. When they got older, the food they ate became different. When something good happens, there’s a whole feast. When watching this show, beware of the scrumptious dishes. I’m still looking for tteokbokki these days.

Notes: First of all, the set design team is amazing. I didn’t feel the whole Ssamundong late 80′s vibe at first but then it felt a little like home after so many hours of looking at it. There’s a lot of things I want to complain about this show, especially how it didn’t resolve properly. There were so many things left hanging! So many relationships unexplored! So many people’s endings swept aside! I didn’t feel like it got the ending it deserved. However, this was such a heartwarming drama. I haven’t seen such a raw presentation of this kind of suburban city life anywhere and it was familiar to me. I also loved how in an episode, things will happen and at the end, there was actually one unifying theme for all of that. I can say nothing more about Reply 1988 other than it did feel like I was growing up with these kids and I was part of their rag-tag bundle of troublemakers. That’s the most important part, I think, to have your audience feel like they were a part of it all. It means art has done its job well.

Rating: 7/10. A little disappointing but still great.

My Protector (1)

I stood at the airport waiting for Hyuk, or Mr Byun. I was his assistant, personal assistant to be straight. Someone who would run arrands for him, all the above.

Straightening out my blazer, I waited patiently when I saw he was being dragged out and into a room.

Y/n: Ahh! Mr Byun? What, are you doing? I asked the security as I ran after them.

Time skip

Hyuk's father was yelling at him, for his stupidity. Next thing I knew, his father was yelling at me when all of a sudden I was smacked in the face causing me to fall to the flour. I was on my knees when he came at me again Je-hoon stood in front of me, begging Mr Byun not to hit me.

Mr Byun looked down at me, as he hit Je-hoon in the face telling him to bend down as he took his bat and hit him on his rear. Shutting my eyes, I felt heart broken for all that he went through just to protect me and yet he never seemed to stop.

After everyone left Je-hoon came to me, walking slow as he helped me up looking at my face.

Je-hoon: Are you okay? He asked, as he took out his hanky and wiped the blood away on my lip.

Y/n: I...I'm fine. But what about you Je-hoon? I asked, as I pulled his hand away from wipping the blood.

Je-hoon: I'm okay. Promise. He said, with a smile as he took my face in his hand placing his thumb on my lip.

Swallowing, I blinked fast as I cleared my throat. Nodding my head, I thanked Je-hoon and walked out of the room heading home.

Once I got to my apartment/flat, a building where my friends Jun and Je-hoon lived was great and seeing them always made me happy. But after today, I wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone. After taking a long warm shower, I got dressed in comfortable clothes and sat on my bed reading the book Je-hoon gave me for my birthday.

Smiling I read the book Atlantis, that he gave me on my birthday. I was deep in thought when I heard someone at the door. Sighing I got up, as I placed my book on the bed and ran to the door.

Opening I saw Je-hoon, standing with a box of food in his hand.

Je-hoon: I brought you something...i...i made it myself. I hope you like it.

Y/n: Je-hoon-

Je-hoon: Its something soft, so that you don't hurt your lip further.

Smiling I took the box from his hand, as I took his other hand in mine pulling him into my apartment with me.

Je-hoon: W...what are you doing?

Y/n: If I'm eating, your eating with me. I spoke, as I started unpacking the food.

It was Hobakjuk, Gimbap and Japchae.

Placing it on the table, I brought bowls, spoons, chopsticks and everything we needed to start eating. As I sat, Je-hoon was still just standing there.

Y/n: Well...arent you going to sit? I questioned him.

Je-hoon: Yes. He replied, as he sat down.

Je-hoon looked so uncomfortable which was strange, I saw him struggling to unclip his cufflinks which caused me to move around the table to help him.

After I helped Je-hoon, pull up his shirt we both started eating in silence.

Y/n: The food is lovely. I dint know you could cook. Why didn't you tell me?

Je-hoon: I didn't see the need to. He said, as he ate some soup.

Y/n: Je-hoon. I laughed, as I bend over the table using my finger to remove a drop of soup that was a little lower than his bottom lip. There. I said, as I looked into his eyes.

I didn't know why, but at that moment my heart started beating fast causing me to blink a few times as I backed up.

Je-hoon: I...i should go. He said fast as he got up, grabbed his coat and walked dout of the door.

The next day

Today was a new day, and strangely I wasn't going to help Hyuk out at all. Ever since his father threw him out, cut him off and all that, I was send to the planning committee. It was strange to me that I wasn't made Woo Sung's personal assistant.

On arriving at work, they showed me to my booth where I'd be working with Je-hoon and many other people. I had two boxes with me, one I placed under my table and the other I had in my hand as I walked over to Je-hoon.

Y/n: Here. I made these for you last night...to say thank you for everything. I said fast as I gave him Songpyeon and Daifuku.

Je-hoon: You shouldn't have done this.

Y/n: I wanted to. Knowing I could do something in return for you, makes me happy. Besides that, I love to make things. I said with a smile as I waved, walking back to my booth as I collected the other box and headed to Jun, Hyuk and the others.

Jun: Awe...you made all of this?

Y/n: Yes. I wanted to surprise you all. I hope you like it. Something special for my family.

Hyuk: This is the perfect way to start our day.

Jun: Uh...huh,we just need to put it in our locker for later. She said with a wink, as she fixed my dress that moved up slightly.

Y/n: Thank you, Jun. I have to go before I get in trouble. I laughed, as I turned and ran down the hall.

Usually I didn't run for anything, at work in high heels but this was necessary. I wasn't actually supposed to be down at the cleaning team's, office or talk to the staff but I didn't care. Yes, the only one that knew I came down here and ate with them was Je-hoon but he was so sweet and calm about it that he kept it secret.

As I ran down the hall, turning the corner I ran into a hard chest. Making me stumble back, when his hands grabbed my arms.

Looking up I saw none other than Woo-sung. Breathing in fast, I felt a wave of fear crawling up in me I was terrified of what he might do or say.

Woo-sung: What are you doing here? He questioned, as he still held onto me.

Y/n: I...i-

Hyuk: She just brought me something. Hyuk answered, as he stood behind me.

Woo-sung: I see. He let me go, as he turned to walk away.

Catching my breath, Hyuk was next to me in an instant placing his hand on my back and shoulder.

Hyuk: Are you okay?

Y/n: Y...yes. Yes. I'm fine.

Hyuk: You shouldn't come back down here again, I don't want you to get into trouble.

Y/n: No, its fine. I just got a fright, I have to go back upstairs...see you tonight. I waved as I ran again.

On arriving at my booth, there was a note saying I should go to Mr Byun Woo-sung's office. Nodding, I got up and walked to his office slightly scared of what he might do. Knocking on the door, I was called in and saw him sitting at his desk looking calm.

Y/n: You called Mr Byun.

Woo-sung: Yes, please take a seat.

Nodding, I took a seat across from his desk. Looking down at my hands, as I played with my fingers.

Woo-sung: So, tell me why exactly were you down by the cleaning staffs lockers or with my brother? He asked, as he got up walking closer to me. Your not his assistant anymore, so why should you care?

Y/n: I...i was taking him some treats that I made.

Woo-sung: Why? He said, as he crossed his arms over his chest as he leaned on his desk.

Y/n: I think of him as a friend sir. I wanted to to bring him something to enjoy with lunch, I didn't think about the-

Woo-sung: This is your fist and final warning, you go downstairs, bring him anything or look at him when your at work understand? He said, in a stern voice.

Walking around me, he placed his hands on my shoulders as he whispered in my ear.

Woo-sung: Don't provoke me y/n, I won't hesitate. He spoke, as he walked back to his chair and smirked. You may leave.

Y/n: Yes sir. I said, walking out fast.

After work

I sat down on my couch, knees to my chest as I thought about today. The entire event kept playing in my mind, making me shake my head.

I got up, going to Je-hoon and Hyuk's apartment. After knocking the door was swung open by Hyuk, giving me a smile he hugged me as he ran out of the door.

Y/n: Uh...w...where is Hyuk going?

Je-hoon: His going to have dinner with some of his friends.

Y/n: From work?

Je-hoon: Yes. Is there something I can help with?

Y/n: Yes. I need to talk to you, if that okay.

Je-hoon: Sure. He replied, stepping aside for me to enter.

Sitting down on the couch, Je-hoon sat next to me as I bit my lip.

Je-hoon: So, what did you want to talk about?

Y/n: I...um. Today after I went to give Jun and Hyuk...and the others some treats, I ran back up to the office when I ran into Woo-sung.

Je-hoon: What?

Y/n: After a while he called me down to his office, and started talking to me. Saying that I should stay away from Hyuk...staying away from him during work, not to look at him or talk to him even give him anything. Then he said he I shouldn't provoke him, and that he wouldn't hesitate.

Je-hoon: He threatened you?

Y/n: Yes. Je-hoon, I didnt want to say anything to anyone but your my best friend and I can't keep secrets from you. I said, wipping away my tears.

Je-hoon: I'm glad you did. He said, scooting closer as he pulled me into his side. Holding me to his chest, as tears fell from my eyes. Don't worry, I'll keep you safe. Je-Hun whispered as he ran his hand down my hair.

Pulling away, I looked up at him our eyes meeting as he brushed away the stray tears from my face. His hands stayed on my cheek, leaning in I swallowed as I looked up at him. Eyes slowly closing as my lips grazed his, follinging us both kissing each other.

I ran my hand up to his neck, pulling him closer as i didn't want to let him go. After a few seconds, Je-hoon pulled away as he placed his forehead to mine.

Je-hoon: Y/n. I like you...a lot. But I don't think, I'm ready for this. He said getting up. Having a public relationship, just isn't what I can hablve right now...its too hard.

Y/n: I like you too Je-hoon. Do you really want to be in a relationship?

Je-hoon: Yes. He replied trunking around to face me. With you, but-

Y/n: Then let's keep it secret, from everyone. We won't say a word, act normal around each other at work, and when we all are together...whatever it takes to be with you I'll do. I smiled, as I took his hand.

Je-hoon: Really?

Y/n: Whatever it takes.

Je-hoon smiled, as he leaned down kissing me once again followed by a strong warm hug.

I'm trying to beat That Summer withdrawal but these absurd situations keep popping up in my mind. Imagine Hb's father congratulating President Bang Ji Man on his son's success at SNU, and Si won's dad casually mentioning that his son got a teaching job, to help his BF, Choi Yoo Won, the person his son admires the most. Seeing Hb's dad ''must not murder'' expression would make my day.

Sony Open in Hawaii 2018: Schedule, tee times, TV/live stream info, and scores for Jan. 11-14

The Sony Open is one of the good low-key early-season events on the PGA Tour. Here are your nuts and bolts for the 2018 edition and some reasons why you should absolutely watch.

The PGA Tour hops from Maui to Oahu this week for the first full-field event of the year, the Sony Open. The annual stop at Waialae may tumble to the farthest recesses of your mind by the end of the season, but it has become a highlight of the early-season schedule for the hardcore golf fans. There are stops on the upcoming West Coast swing that will get much more love, but the Sony is a great combination of rookies and vets grinding for solidified PGA Tour card status on a course with a ton of history.

It’s also an opportunity for more primetime golf following up last week’s little 34-man party that was the Tournament of Champions. I thought the ToC fizzled a bit on the weekend, despite the fireworks from the eventual winner and world No. 1 Dustin Johnson. It was great to watch PGA Tour golf again and Kapalua was as beautiful as ever, but it ran out of juice in my very subjective opinion.

With a full field and a course that can yield some crazy low numbers, maybe we get a better show this week. Here are some reasons to watch as well as the nuts and bolts for the Sony. We’ll update this as a hub of sorts as the tournament progresses.

Why Watch

1) It’s pretty. This is simple. I won’t try to expound much beyond telling you that this Waialae Country Club layout is easy to look at. The media center is basically on the beach — not that I know from experience — one day, perhaps. The course runs right up and almost onto the beach -- so close that a couple certain pros going out for a kayak ride in the ocean were easily caught from the golf course cameras and documented in a suffocating barrage of content last year. And you mayyyy see a shot or two of the infamous “W” shaped palms lording over the 18th green.

2) Raynor. I will never pretend to be a golf course architecture expert, although I appreciate those who are and love following the topic. It’s a topic that’s taken on increased interest and debate, thanks to a handful of intelligent voices in social and digital media shining new light.

Waialae is one of a too-small handful of PGA Tour courses with Golden Age roots as it was one of Seth Raynor’s last projects in the 1920s. Raynor has been a poster boy for the increased discussion and appreciation from the aforementioned group on social media. He’s a cult hero for many. Now, the Waialae of 2018 is very different from Raynor’s original intent but there are still elements that make this worth watching, especially with Tom Doak, a modern day architecture cult hero, slowly putting some restorative efforts into the historic course. The redan 17th hole should be the most noticeable change and throwback this year.

I think this is a fascinating topic worth diving into and for more, go to the actual experts. Andy Johnson at The Fried Egg, one of those ascendant golf architecture experts I mentioned, hosted Doak on his podcast this week. They went through some of the original Raynor intent, the restoration efforts, and how the course plays for the best pros in the world on a week like this.

3) #58Watch. Breaking 60 has become somewhat passé but it’s still an accomplishment that gets you to change the channel to golf once murmurs of a pro going super deep start rumbling on Twitter and elsewhere. Waialae is one of the better opportunities for a pro to break 60, and maybe even match Jim Furyk’s ridiculous 58 from the Travelers a few years ago.

It’s a par 70 and the present day big hitters are taking some ridiculous lines off the tees — nothing that Raynor could have imagined back when it was originally designed. We saw this from Justin Thomas last year, when he torched the place for a 59 en route to his second win in the first two weeks of the 2017 season. It’s likely we’re back on #59Watch or maybe even #58Watch again this week.

4) Rookies. With this being our first full-field event of the new year, it’s also a great opportunity to get a good look at this year’s rookie class. Of course, those rookies get some much-needed starts during the wraparound schedule in the fall, but some of these early year events are major chances to make hay and solidify their status for the rest of the year, or at least before the priority rankings reshuffle. The Sony Open is one of their best chances to accrue some FedExCup points, with some of the upcoming West Coast swing events having smaller fields that don’t provide starts for rookies with lower priority.

We’ve seen a rookie win this event recently, with Russell Henley going low in 2013 to win the Sony in his PGA Tour debut. There’s a boatload of rookies playing this week -- they’re all worth watching but some of the bigger names that may get some love are Peter Uihlein, Tom Lovelady, Aaron Wise, Stephan Jaeger, and Austin Cook, who already won during the wraparound schedule.

You’re going to get plenty of chances to watch the top players in the world rankings in the coming months. This is a good chance to see some of the best young up-and-comers, the players who aren’t household names but are worth rooting for and could become one soon.

How to Watch

This is really the last opportunity to watch primetime PGA Tour golf until the fall, when the Asian swing returns during the wraparound portion of the schedule. The upcoming West Coast swing does allow for some golf to go past dinner time in the east coast, but not by much given the limited daylight hours this time of year.

The only real options for primetime golf would be a west coast venue at either U.S. Open or the PGA Championship. The USGA is fond of getting the national championship on the west coast often during the longest days of the year, allowing for finishes as late as 11 p.m. ET. But this year, we’re about as far away from the West Coast as possible with the 2018 U.S. Open being played at Shinnecock Hills. So this is it really, take it in because from here on out, your weekend finishes on the PGA Tour will all slot in during daylight hours.

Like last week on Maui, Golf Channel will have exclusive coverage of the entire tournament over the next four days. It’s that time of year when CBS is still occupied with football on the weekends, and these events aren’t necessarily big enough to get the bump up to NBC. And Golf Channel is plenty capable of just running with the coverage throughout, as we see during the fall series too.

They will, however, be down a man at times this week. Jim “Bones” Mackay (Phil Mickelson’s former longtime caddie, if you’re completely golf ignorant) has become one of the best parts of the Golf Channel/NBC coverage. But this week, he’s picking up the bag again and looping for Justin Thomas, whose regular caddie has to take a few weeks off due to plantar fasciitis. Bones is going to do double duty, putting on the headset and working as a walking reporter when Thomas is not playing. But given that the defending champ tore this course up last year and will likely play well again, Bones should be on the course as a caddie during the late weekend broadcast times.

This is the first full field event of the year. That little party on Maui last week featured just 34 players and was obviously easy to schedule over four days with a ton of flexibility. Now we’re back to the grind of sending two waves off split tees for the first 36 holes.

They will start at 7 a.m. local time on Oahu and the last group will go at 1:30 p.m. local, which is five hours behind ET. So this is a full day from sun-up to sun-down with 144 players in the field. Here are your round 1 tee times.
