#Chloe would probably make him reason a little in the end. Yes Lucifer left him all alone and it hurt

Next drabble idea I'll probably never write: AU season 4 where Lucifer still has to leave for Hell but it's Piercifer and he leaves Marcus behind who just... slowly spends more and more time at the penthouse until he's basically living there outside of work and moping around. Drinking, growing the depression beard back, cursing at Lucifer and God, badly singing sad songs and playing along with his guitar, just being a sad sack in general.
Except this is either also a Deckerstar AU (poly but a V with Lucifer in the middle) or Lucifer has been Chloe's closest friend and partner for years and she misses him, so one day she doesn't have Trixie and she just misses him a lot she sneaks up the penthouse. And there's just Pierce and his beard and a terrible bed head in his sweats and a t-shirt surrounded by empty bottles of not so cheap alcohol and half empty bottles of definitely not so cheap alcohol. And she's immediately backing away because she's good at second guessing herself and thinks she's intruding but he's like "He left you too behind, didn't he?" and waves a bottle in her direction. Cause of course she misses him too, and in a way they both remind each other of him. So she takes the alcohol and sits down. They don't talk much, just drink and sigh. She doesn't have it in her to leave when it gets dark outside so Pierce leaves her the bed since he's been sleeping there pretty much all the time. And he just throws his legs on the couch and passes out there.
... Okay I'm definitely making it a Deckerstar + Piercifer V, I just like the idea rn. Anyway, they go on with this routine for a while. Chloe comes over when Dan (or Dan and Charlotte together) has Trixie with him (they alternate whole weeks now, he's learned to do dad stuff in a timely manner finally). They drink and sorta grunt or sigh in each other's general direction and just amble around the penthouse. Sometimes Chloe puts a movie on to take her mind off things (stuff she watched with Lucifer) and a couple of times Pierce just sits down and read one of Lucifer's books and they fall asleep in front of the tv some of those ones.
One evening Marcus finds Chloe going through the freezer and she pulls aside a few ice cream tubs with like, unicorns or puppies on them (Marcus already saw them and was kinda "??", Chloe says Trixie likes the big screen and Lucifer playing songs for her so he bought some snacks for her for when she came over. She dives more into the freezer and they both pretend she's not suddenly holding back tears) she hits jackpot when she finds some ice cream with a fancy name and no cartoony animals or overly sweet flavours and she doesn't even both with a bowl, just takes a spoon (then goes back for another she throws at Marcus) . And she sits disgruntled in front of the TV and eats it. She's stressed over a case and just murders the absolute shit out of the ice cream, she pushes it Pierce's way a couple of times and he gets like the tiniest spoonfuls and then she's back at shoveling it back in her mouth looking absolutely miserable.
Pierce surprised them both by asking her about the case (they usually don't talk much in these moments). He knows the gist of it because he assigned it to her but she was decidedly in a better mood earlier. And she says it's not as much as the case being overly complicated, she has hunch, but for the first time she was in the middle of an interrogation or a investigating and she was suddenly hit with all the ways Lucifer could have influenced the situation. And then her brain just couldn't turn it off and she basically couldn't stop thinking about him. Going back to the precinct didn't help, he was always sitting on her desk. There's Marcus himself who Lucifer always made a beeline for a couple of times at least and he's looking like as sad as a saggy bowl of cereals too and that made her only think more about Lucifer being gone. She thought retreating at the penthouse could have helped but instead of being a comfort and making her feel like he's still somewhat around, it just makes her feel more the fact that he's not there and could never come back. And from there it's like, the gates are open. They start to talk about Lucifer. They get angry at him, they get angry at God, they get angry at the demons who came for him and at all the angels who didn't help and they it just ends up with them just talking about Lucifer in general. The hit he pulled that exasperated them, that was actually kinda funny or just so Lucifery you just took it as it came.
And it's a first for them. Not just talking about Lucifer or with each other at the penthouse. Just the two of them talking in general. They sort of exist in the same space because they both love Lucifer in this AU. But Chloe has to digest the Sinnerman thing. Cause I think she wouldn't hold onto the First Murderer thing because in her mind, ideally one would have had a trial and appropriate punishment in that situation. But between the time it was and who they were he got himself a literal Curse. He did a bad thing but she can't really wrap her mind around the punishment, people go to prison and never get out or people go to prison and then get out and try to live a normal life. He had God himself him Mark him as forever wandering the Earth alone and she's just... what does she do with that?? Biblical stuff is just too fucked up for her. She acknowledges that's stuff that happens 6000+ years ago and Pierce is gonna deal with that with Pierce and Lucifer. She had more of an issue with his more recent crime boss things. Lucifer skirts the line of what she finds okay, Dan went dangerously over some times, Pierce has been living on the other side for so long she's just no ok with that. But they all have a complicated situation. And in the 2 years he got to know Lucifer he sort of, dropped the whole thing (and may have been sort of ratting out some people because it seemed to make Lucifer happy because it made Chloe happy). She recognizes it doesn't make what he did retroactively better but look, she has a complicated love life. If what it took to make an old ass immortal man a little more nice and human is the Devil himself making puppy eyes at him and naming him feel bad about fucked up shit he does forth first time in millennia... she decides she can sort of deal with it. And for Marcus is sort of :/ over Chloe being a mortal, cause he knows it hurts losing someone to time and he can just imagine how Lucifer will suffer, especially since he feels just so much (and it takes him a while to get out of this mentality, that doesn't makes him think Lucifer gets attached to humans only because he's gotten to know them for so little compared to him, that with enough time they'll be the same, cause his is the only logical way of feeling over this). And in general he's got some deep seated fear that Chloe was put on Lucifer's path for nefarious purposes. They all have that little moment of doubt, like okay she has her feelings and takes her choices?? But what if God knew Marcus and Lucifer would have crossed paths and Chloe is there to prevent it in osns way? Or to be used to send him back to Hell? They reflect on it a little and get over it mostly, but Marcus still has this little voice inside him saying that maybe she's there for Lucifer to think "Why have him when I can have her?" the only things he seemingly brings in the relationship is immortality and understanding through that, but Lucifer lurks defying expectations and just went "BOTH BOTH I LOVE BOTH I WANT BOTH IF THEY'LL HAVE ME" and told them in detail what wonderful things they both brought to the relationship (Chloe needed that too. From her pov she's the one that can't fully get Lucifer and will just hurt him by dying in such a short time and maybe never see him again. But he proves both of their fears wrong). So yeah, until this point they were never really making comfortable conversation all the time and hanging out together. Just recognized each other as someone important to Lucifer that makes him happy and they were trying to work out if they could live in close contact when shit hit the fan and Lucifer had to go.
And from then they form some sort of understanding. They talk more about Lucifer. They get Eve, Maze, Dan, Charlotte, Linda and Amenadiel and try to make him contact other Angels and then shit happen with Azrael and Ella joins the Celestial-knowing club. They make concrete plans to get him out. They start being more like themselves and interact more in general.
Then one day Chloe is under the covers of Lucifer's bed and Marcus is on the other side and has kicked them off (it's easier than just taking turns, and while they never got to the point with having Lucifer time all together in an intimate way, they don't find it weird, sharing living spaces was something they had been considering before things got fucked up) and they suddenly wake up in a tangle of blankets and feathers and ashes and there's Lucifer looking absolutely terrible but he lights up like the Sun upon seeing them and they immediately pounce on him. He thinks he's dreaming and they tell him they've been just sort of living there together when Dan has Trixie and they want to know what's going on. Unfortunately it's not permantent, the demons are chilling enough he can fly up for a little while but he still has to go back if they don't find a solution. He mostly does it to get his Chloe and Marcus fills and cry a little about how much he loves them and wishes he didn't have to leave them and will find a way to come back to them permanently and he's sorry he left looking intend on not coming back (he tought it was the best option, but he just missed them so much).
And nothing. Shit's fucked but slowly maybe they find a solution. Didn't really wrote a plot. I just wanted Chloe and Marcus moping together over Lucifer and talking about him and helping each other get out of the dark pit of despair.
#Talking Tag#Luciblogging#I'm making up a reason for which Pierce can't go to Hell with Lucifer for angst purposes#Maybe the Mark causes him to be yeeted back on Earth#Or living souls in general would be yeeted back in Earth#Aside Lilith who was cast there by God specifically. Or maybe it comes with being created directly by God.#He's closed to Lucifer and his siblings than Marcus and other human born humans.#Could explain also why Abel needed a body to be put into to rise back#While Eve jumped back into her body who even regenerate at her young perky peak#Or maybe it's just a question of demons descending on Marcus like ants#He would be a glaring weakened in their eyes for the King and they would either challenge him over and over again#Or try to pull Marcus apart over and over again. And Hell is big and chaotic enough and Lucifer does have things to check out#That he couldn't keep an eye on Pierce 24/7 and he has nothing on a hoard of pissed off demons#He just refused to bring down Marcus and risk him getting through any of that just because Lucifer wanted him close#And I think that would be the option that hurt Marcus the most. Because he'd tell Lucifer he'd go through eternitied of being torn apart#Just for him. But Lucifer would set his foot down and Marcus would feel abandoned all over again. He could be there but Lucifer went alone#Chloe would probably make him reason a little in the end. Yes Lucifer left him all alone and it hurt#And he would gladly be demon food over and over again for him. But then that would have hurt Lucifer greatly.#And he would have beaten himself over being a horrible person who makes his loved ones suffer#And Pierce can't really deny that's what would have happened. Lucifer would have made it his personal failure every single time Marcus#got hurt away from him. So much guilt.#Chloe and Pierce are good at reminding each other that while they're suffering Lucifer is too. And is doing this to keep them all safe#And they have to find a way to get him back.

Thoughts about S6
This is gonna be a little all over the place. Just me rambling, really.
So, I went up to LA to watch the show with some fandom friends on Friday. We had an absolute blast. I loved the finale season of the show. LOVED. I had some quibbles, of course, but none worth lingering on at length. I know the ending was controversial for some, but not for me. It worked on all levels.
I didn’t have much love for the end of 5B (I know, y’all are probably shocked, given some of the things I’ve written re: Lucifer becoming God or godlike) which is why I never really chimed in on the post-5B discussion. I just couldn’t muster much enthusiasm about it, and I didn’t want to froth about or hate on it when other people were having fun and gushing.
But my main issues at the time involved: Lucifer suddenly wanting to become God felt poorly setup and unearned, and Chloe suddenly quitting the force to support Lucifer becoming God felt incredibly impulsive, perhaps almost out of character.
S6 not only was perfect for me in its own right, it actually went back and fixed my S5B issues retrospectively. Lucifer suddenly wanting to become God felt poorly setup because it WAS poorly set up. On purpose. He never actually wanted to be God. It wasn’t his calling. And Chloe dropping her Detective job so suddenly WAS impulsive. On purpose. She really didn’t think that one through and ended up being bored out of her fucking mind without that job to engage her problem-solving brain. So ... kudos to the writers for that. I am so pleasantly surprised by that backtracking and never expected it.
As far as season 6 goes ... oh my gosh, what a brilliant roller coaster. Like @tarysande, I also spent a large portion of the season wondering what the evil trick was with Rory. I didn’t trust ANYTHING she said for many episodes. I kept waiting for a shoe to drop that never did. I really appreciate that Deckerstar did not get married—I never felt like a marriage was necessary for them given where they were in their life (a divorcee and a Devil who isn’t beholden to human constructs of law). I actively did not want a Deckerstar baby, but the show did it in a way I found absolutely lovely. Rather than using Rory as a magical “happily ever after” button as so many shows do, she was a tool to create massive character growth in Lucifer, and I am so on board with that.
I cried during this season. Frequently. Which is something that rarely happens for me when watching or reading fiction. I am just ... so stupidly emotionally involved in these great characters.
Some people may fixate on the separation between Lucifer and Chloe until her death, but to me ... it worked. Lucifer found a higher purpose and chose to fulfill it, to keep his promise to his daughter—to be a better father for Rory than his father was for him—and he does still ultimately get a “happily ever after” with his family and friends and dearest loved ones. It just starts a little later than planned. Chloe, meanwhile, gets to live her life knowing without doubt the love of her life is not only okay & pursuing his calling, he’s waiting for her on the flip side. They’ll have eternity together—ETERNITY, in exchange for a few decades apart. Bittersweet? Yes. Tragic? No. So I am okay with this. This is a level of certainty no real human ever gets—and as someone with zero certainty about the future whatsoever, I can’t express enough how much this foreknowledge alone would be a comfort in difficult times. It really resonates with me as a meaningful gift.
I do agree that there’s plenty of room for Lucifer to see Chloe without Rory’s knowledge, though I’m on the fence about how realistic this is. I think Dan called it, honestly. Having to watch and not participate is more torturous than not participating at all. And, as I said, he gets to see everybody eventually. He knows his daughter will understand—actively consents, even—and he knows their reunion will come.  He knows Chloe will come back to him, too, because he’s grown to trust and love her fully.
Along those lines, Lucifer showed amazing character development this year. Once this man figures out his feelings and commits, he is ALL IN. I was so proud of him, talking out his feelings, and saying I love you, and hugging people left and right. His goodbyes made me tear up, particularly the scene with Maze. Which. OMG. These two. That scene was a long time coming, and so heartfelt. i loved it. I also loved how comfortable in his own skin he finally seemed this season. He utilized his wings SO MUCH. And his devil face where appropriate. And there was zero angst about any of it.
Time travel is a trope that tends to break my brain, but ... I think Rory showing up is what enabled her own conception. Lucifer didn’t think he could have kids until he finds out he does in the future and then boom, suddenly he can conceive. He self-actualized working swimmers. I know this creates a chicken or the egg paradox—how could this loop ever even start if Rory hadn’t existed at least once on her own—buuut, I’ve definitely seen this trope used in other shows, such as Netflix’s Dark. So, imho, there was an added level to Lucifer’s sacrifice at the end—he wasn’t just trying to preserve his own epiphany via a promise to his daughter, he was actively choosing to save his daughter’s entire existence, and he was choosing to be different from his father.
People who think Lucifer was robbed of choice ... I beg to differ. For the reasons stated above, and also? He was the one who came up with the idea of returning to Hell. No one forced that on him. The only thing Rory did was speed up his time table. And I think there’s a beautiful kind of symmetry to the idea of him returning to Hell and choosing to reframe it as a place of healing, rather than eternal suffering. In a sense, he’s making his own Plan for himself. He’s defining his role in the universe: the Devil, not God. He’s defining his family: Chloe, Rory, Trixie, Dan, Maze, Eve, Linda, Amenadiel, Ella, and all the great friends he’s made. He’s defining his home: not a place, but where his heart is. For the first time in his life, the Devil decided who he is and what he wants to do with his life, instead of letting external forces do it for him.
And I fucking loved every minute of it.
A perfect ending for a long, thoughtful journey.
P.S. If you disagree with me, that’s fine. There’s no wrong way to interpret art and media. But please know I’m not really in the mindset for debate right now. I just want to live in my happy post-S6 bubble. I’d appreciate it if you let me :)

How Chloe Decker Ruined The Greatest Slut of The Universe
Part: 1 / 1
Setting: Post s5, maybe post s6?
Word count: 2.2K
Rating: T
Summary: Lucifer’s thoughts on monogamy have changed over time. Or, how Chloe Decker ruined the Greatest Slut of the Universe.
Author’s note: Thanks for the help on this one! If I’m still a little off canon in some places, I apologise. I tried my best. If it bugs you too much that it doesn’t 100% match what’s implied on the show, you can always consider it an AU.
Lucifer had never seen the point of monogamy. Why limit yourself to one sexual partner when you could have a thousand?
It wasn’t a matter of quantity over quality—Dad no. It was simply a matter of diversity. Variety. No matter how delectable the taste, you wouldn’t stick to one meal for the rest of your life. No matter how sweet the melody, you wouldn’t listen to one song and one song only. Even the most magnificently scored piece of music would eventually tire your ears if it were all you ever heard. So why on Earth would you tie yourself to one person?
He might have understood it if humans were designed to mate for life, like beavers and seahorses, but they weren’t. They were polygamous creatures. And yet so many of them spent every living second obsessing over finding the one. It was untrue to their nature—deviant, really. The saddest part was that once they thought they’d encountered this ‘other half’, they’d chain themselves to the person, restrain themselves. Suppress their innate desires.
Why, oh, why?
The question had struck his mind so many times, most often amid a particularly sinful orgy. Why would you ever abstain from the abundance of pleasure several lovers could give you in return for sporadic and ever-worsening missionary sex with the same person until your dying day?
It had made absolutely no sense to him.
But then he’d met her.
Not that he’d turned monogamist by the mere sight of her (he wasn’t that weak). But it was her acquaintance, all the light and the dark that ensued, which ultimately had made him abandon his philandering. He’d wish he could say it was a conscious choice. It wasn’t. After she’d kissed him that first time (and probably even before that) he just simply hadn’t had the desire to engage in casual sex with strangers. Not that he hadn’t felt desire in any form—had practically been set ablaze with it the moment their lips had touched—but he’d burned for her, and no one else.
And then, before he could even act on this newfound, completely overshadowing, giddying want, the all-destructive revelation had been thrust in his face. That she was nothing but another pawn in his Father’s vexatious game. That she hadn’t kissed him of her own free will. That they weren’t real.
It had felt as if he’d crashed against the sulphurous ground of Hell once again. And his carnal desires had been pushed even further back. If he couldn’t have her—and he couldn’t, because she deserved a choice—he didn’t want anyone. Not even when he’d fled from reality to Sin City had he been tempted to pick up a bed mate or two. Nor had he felt the need to seduce Candy as he’d pretend-married her. No, that little arrangement had primarily, almost solely been to protect Chloe. To give her a choice.
And he’d done just that, as they’d gone back to being friends. Just friends. (For some reason, it had not relieved the ache in his chest, but he’d tried not to dwell on that). And yet, despite their now defined platonic relationship, he still hadn’t resumed his libertine habits. Mainly because he’d been busy sending his mother into another universe, being abducted, cursing his reattached wings, and learning that the new lieutenant was Cain(!). It wasn’t like he hadn’t tried to get back to his carefree debauchery. The feathery traitors on his back had just kept getting in the way and ruined the mood.
That, and he hadn’t had quite the same appetite as before. Or perhaps his sexscapades had just become less filling. Either way, the hunger roused by their kiss had still burned inside him—a hunger that couldn’t be sated by one-night stands and sex parties. Because, as reluctant as he’d been to admit it back then, all he’d wanted, all he’d desired, was her.
But she had been forbidden fruit, and for once, he’d refused to bite. For once, something—someone had mattered more to him than his own wants and needs. And so, after a couple of (by his standards) unsatisfying shags, and for the first time in history, he’d had sex with no one but himself. Only accompanied by the ever-fading memory of her mouth on his, and bittersweet fantasies of what could have been.
It’d been rather depressing.
At some point, she had, for some inexplicable reason, started dating Lieutenant Pierce, aka. the world’s first murderer. Consequently, Lucifer had put all his energy into proving to her just how much better than the Murderous Man Ham he was. In addition to providing her with her favourite snacks, buying her a car, and other small acts of kindness, he’d continued to stay abstinent, solo sessions aside. Sleeping around with half of LA didn’t exactly say ‘loyal and devoted’—not to Chloe, at least—and he hadn’t wanted to lose her over meaningless sex. Eventually, he had (with a little help from a friend) realised that it would take more than expensive gifts, decadent dinners, and celibacy to win her over. That he’d have to tell her how he felt about her, instead of telling her how to feel about Pierce. With hope dangerously blooming in his chest, he had gone to finally confess the feelings he’d tried to suppress for so long—only to have an inadequate diamond ring and a quite unexpected ‘yes’ get in the way.
In the throes of jealousy and heartbreak and so many other painful emotions he couldn’t name, he’d started bringing people into his bed again. He’d thought it would help him get over Chloe, or at least keep his mind off her and bring him in a better mood—none of which had been the case, of course. Because all he could think of, as he would lie there, thrusting with as much passion he could muster into his amour d’un jour, was that it wasn’t her. That she’d chosen Pierce—chosen Cain. That he’d had and would have her in ways Lucifer could only dream of.
(And oh, did he dream. To a pathetic degree.)
In spite of the sulky thoughts that had invaded his mind every time he’d been entertaining someone for the night, he had, as always, managed to make all participating parties, himself included, reach their climax—often more than twice. But while they had left his place smiling and satisfied like never before, he’d lied motionless in his bed, staring up at the ceiling, feeling as empty and as starved as he had pre-sex. If not more.
He probably should have realised then that his days as a serial lover were over. Should probably have realised it long before that, actually—say, when an innocent kiss had changed something fundamental inside him. But he hadn’t realised anything. Not then. Not when rekindling his relationship Eve had made him feel oddly guilty. Not when their weekend-long orgies had done nothing to fill the void inside him. Not when he’d found himself alone in the shower, getting off to sappy daydreams rather than the luscious woman waiting in his bed. Not when he’d finally broken up with said woman, and his excessive need for polyphonic stimulation had vanished altogether.
Nor had he realised it any of the times he’d looked at Chloe—when the stars in her eyes and the purity of her soul had taken his breath away. Not when she so openly and without fright had accepted him in his true form. Not when she’d made him see that it wasn’t his true form after all. Not during any of their most tender moments—moments he could only have shared with her. Not when she had felt like home, more than Heaven, Hell or Earth ever had.
Maybe he had started realising it when she between sobs and pleas had declared her love for him. (It was, after all, in that moment he’d realised he loved her in return, and more than he could even begin to understand). But it wasn’t then, and it wasn’t there, it had finally dawned upon him—that Detective Chloe Decker had ruined the First and Greatest Slut of the Universe.
No, the ultimate epiphany had come to him far, far away from her soft lips and her warm heart. Had first come to him when he’d let himself fall and sat in the throne he’d never wanted. Tortured by her absence for millennia on end. For it was there, amongst ashes and demons and scum, in the blackness of the abyss, deprived of her light, that he’d felt it. An all-encompassing desire, a scorching, excruciating longing to be with her. And only her.
It had been the single saddest case of Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
And fonder it had grown. For each day he spent in Hell without her, each year, each century, it only became all the more clear—crystalline, eventually, glowing brightly in the black smog: He loved her. Exclusively, absolutely, and unconditionally.
Still does.
And even more so now. Now that he knows the feeling of her skin against his, and that she always vacuum-cleans to Spice Girls. Knows just how loud she snores, and what her naked body looks like in the sunlight. Now that he knows she kisses (far) better than she cooks, but that she’s no stranger to fixing a leaking pipe. Knows that it takes four tequila shots to get her horny and two glasses of red wine to have her falling asleep on the couch. Knows how she’ll toss and turn in bed when there’s a killer on the loose, and the peace on her face when they’ve put one behind bars. Now that he knows what makes her gasp in pleasure and what makes her cry with laughter. What makes her roll her eyes, and what makes her stomp out of the room. Knows the sound of her ‘good morning, baby’, and her ‘sleep well, honey’. The sound of her ‘I love you’ murmured against his lips.
Now that he knows her—truly knows her—he can do nothing but love her more with each passing hour.
And the best part is, she seems to feel the same way about him.
What a lucky bastard that makes him.
Because it was luck that brought them together. Not Dad’s will. He knows that now. Yes, she would never have existed had it not been for his Father’s divine intervention, but He didn’t create her from his ribs or code her to love him. As opposed to what Lucifer had thought for so long, they’re not made for each other, not like that. The fact that she met Lucifer? Definitely Dad’s plan. But that she let him into her life? Into her heart? Now, that she can only blame herself for.
Lucifer blames her too—has questioned her judgement many times over the years, but always with an impossible amount of gratitude. Despite… everything, she chose him. They chose each other.
He still doesn’t understand the whole soulmate-thing humans are so keen on (why praise your free will only to romanticise the idea of a predetermined partner?), but he can’t deny that he sees it now, the point of monogamy. It’s not that you can’t live without the person, or that you feel obliged to be with them until death do you part. It’s not about containing desires.
No, it’s about not wanting to live without this someone.
And, much to his surprise, sex has very little to do with it. If he ever had to choose between having the best sex of his life every day or always being in Chloe’s company but never getting laid, his balls would be bluer than all smurfs combined. And he’d still be the happiest Devil alive.
Fortunately, he gets both her company and the best sex of his life. But it’s not the incredible orgasms that keep him higher than any party drug ever did. It’s merely being near her. The closeness. The trust. The love.
He wouldn’t trade that— wouldn’t trade her for anything. (Not even a ménage à trois with Aphrodite and Marilyn.)
Once he realised that, it had only taken him two years to act on it. First, he’d sat down and had a short but heartfelt conversation with Beatrice. When that went well, he’d visited his old sparkly friends in the sky, for the first time since he formed them, and carefully picked the tiniest bit off the Brightest of them all.
And now, he’s finally making his way up the coast to the beach—the beach—as a fragment of his dearest star twinkles brighter than ever inside the gold ring nestled against his fluttering heart.
For years, his innermost desire has been to spend every day with her and do his absolute best to make her happy. He not only knows but feels that there is no one else for him. That they are, in the most beautiful and incredible way possible, stuck with each other; they might as well make it official.
If she says yes, that is.
Edit: I have come to realise that I probably should have given @thewollfgang some credit for the idea about the ring. I am truly in love with their ‘Ring’-fic, and I’m not sure I would have gotten the idea of Lucifer putting a star in Chloe’s ring if I hadn’t read their fic. And now that I just read it again, I realise that the ring being in Lucifer’s breast pocket also is heavily inspired by the same fic. So, lots of credit to the absolutely amazing @thewollfgang on this one.

The midseason finale…
In order to go through the S&S of the Midseason Finale, we will have in many points to go back to the rest of the S5P1 episodes, especially the 5x07, but also explore a part of 5x09 which up to this day remains untitled due to the spoiler it seems to give away.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This episode can be better explained as the action and effect pattern. Whatever you do in due time it will catch up with you and that seems to be the theme here. We are not talking just about consequences although there will be plenty however the fact that in this episode we will probably realize that Lucifer’s decisions brought him to this point and the same applies for Chloe’s existence in his life and perhaps her entity as well. But I get ahead of myself…
Okay so as you have noticed throughout the season we have several subplots going and most of them will give way to 5x08 which in turn will lead us to the second part of S5.
First, we need to talk about the bracelets. I have mentioned many times that 5x08 will provide a permanent solution to whatever is going on with them and active seekers of that solution seem to be mainly Amenadiel and Maze. That is because most probably little Charlie provides part of that solution. If I’m correct then Charlie exhibits something that aids Lucifer and Daniel to a point but the real answer lies on 5x04. Additionally do remember that Dan seemed to be able to battle the influence of Azrael’s blade so keep that to the back of your head as well.
As promised to many I will not reveal nothing of the script but I’ll provide you with a prop that laid in plain sight yet only the people who knew what it was about could decode it. That will be mentioned at the end of the episode as it is also connected to 5x09 so be sure that the bracelet issue will be out of the picture in this episode but we have so many things to cover still.
Second, comes the Serial Killer who appears in the episodes 5x07 and 5x08. It is true that on Twitter we were informed that Chloe and an Officer are in a very small freshly painted room and they had to act distresses and shaken. (I contemplated on hiding the name but then I decided against it mainly because she has already tagged Lauren in her posts. I’m still a bit uneasy about this to be honest).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Many believe that Chloe gets kidnapped and that would be a good explanation yet as I have mentioned before do not expect her to die or at least to have a conventional ‘death’ believe the writers will not take that route. In this story we either get Lucifer to act impulsively and reclaim Chloe from death or in a very uncommon fashion we get that Chloe is more than a Miracle but do not go again to this poignant discussion she is an angel etc. Let’s speculate that Chloe is something more connected to Lucifer’s past and we will get how only at the end of 5x08 perhaps even in 5x09…
So enough with the small S&S of the two main subplots and let’s gate to what is happening during the episode!
Let’s talk locations something that I didn’t do in 5x07 because I wanted to focus more on the ones in 5x08.
- Precinct
- LUX
- WB lot house
- Bronson Caves
- Linda’s house
- Freshly painted room
In order to break down the locations we need to see who is working with whom in this episode.
First, let’s start with Amenadiel and Maze. For the past episodes they have come very close and in this episode, they once again aim to deliver. There is a dedication there a need to protect their newfound family. Charlie, Lucifer, Dan and of course the rest of the not so much affected parties from the multiple threats they face in S1P1.
Tumblr media
We know that there is something like a fight breaking in at the precinct. A crowd gathers quickly I believe from the interrogation room to the main area. I believe it is mainly related to Chloe and the Officer being stuck in the small room (notice here she said room not cave) but that remains to be seen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lucifer and Maze seem to be rather pissed at least Maze that is and leads to probably the photo where Lucifer is behind an officer (the actor is a friend of Kevin Alejandro) where Lucifer shows him something (a photo? a number? a location?) and threatens to have some results. You can see that Maze is at the left side of that photo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Of course, the above scene might be happening somewhere else but my gut at the moment tells me that Lucifer has had enough and wants answers. I do not believe he ever recovered completely from 2x13 so that opens the proverbial can of worms…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
If I’m correct about this then Lucifer is wearing blue at the beginning of the episode and then purple. The reason for that speculation is because in one of Lesley-Ann’s videos Ellis’ stunt wears a purple shirt while Lucifer when he demands answers from that officer/security he wears the dark blue so I guess that the purple shirt is what we will see at the second half of the episode. PS I love the silver cufflinks on the blue shirt arrangement. That is also supported by Ella’s t-shirt in the precinct and then the car meaning Lucifer and Maze go in the precinct and then he leaves with Ella.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So perhaps that’s when Ella finds out? I’m not sure but it\s nice to suppose she does in 5x08.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Btw Alejandro here reminds me so much of James Marsters aka Spike in Buffy :P
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe today Satan... :D Rafferty was always a great tease...
Tumblr media
In this episode, we have also seen Lucifer with some bullet halls but his shirts in 5x08 do not seem to fully support that incident in that episode as he wears deep purple and midnight blue shirts. Of course, that scene might be happening early on the episode but I could be cautious here.
Tumblr media
Now probably after the precinct scene, we had Amenadiel and Maze patterning up and of course Lucifer and Ella. Amenadiel and Maze seem to be again preoccupied with the bracelet mystery but also we have a scene where Maze is at Linda’s house with the same clothes and we also have Charlie in a beautiful onesie in light blue with moons and stars.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
^The baby proofed ceiling...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the same time, Lucifer and Ella with his car pay a visit to a house at the suburbs which we know it’s at the lot and might or might not be connected to previous episodes of S5 yet I’m not certain about that one. In order for that to happen
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay so! We know that at some point Lucifer and Maze end up at the Bronson caves. Now here is a not so secret secret. Lucifer this season has three stages and many sets are constructed in order for the cast to not leave the lot often and for the requests of the writers' room to be easier to be full field. Of course, that has happened before with the country bar that was constructed in 4x04, or the hospital in 3x16 where Lucifer gets Abel’s soul back from Hell but in S5 they are doing some spectacular things with the props. Actually, one of the parts of the cave has been built in the stages so Lesley-Ann’s photo at the cave is in reality at the stages not on location.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So we have Lucifer and Maze and also their stunts there (Well at least Lucifer’s that is). I do not know if the small room is supposed to be in the caves or somewhere completely different but for the most part of the episode our leads are trying to resolve the issue of the bracelet combined with Chloe and the Serial Killer.
Tumblr media
You can see that on location they changed the arrangement of the rocks a bit adding some bigger rocks to look perhaps like a planetary system. Also in Lesley-Ann’s photo, you can see at the right some stairs. I wished it was part of the prohibition tunnel Lucifer claimed LUX to be full with but only time will tell if that is true or it’s simply part of the cave system of the Bronson Caves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notice the difference between the rocks that were placed from the production and down how the arrangement was a day before the shot on location.
Tumblr media
A small trivia here. The Bronson Caves is mainly known as the Batcave as it was used as the Batcave for the Batman series back in the 1960s. Originally a quarry it remained unused in the 10th century and use for series and films have earned it a spot as an L.A. landmark from the state f California.
Tumblr media
Moving on!
The last acts of this episode will be interesting to see… We do have some unbelievable revelations and consequences in my opinion and in Lucifer series fashion we should be ready to perhaps welcome a hard to swallow, truth.
Lucifer in this season had an unparalleled growth. If you seek for Deckerstar romance I’m not sure we will get to have them in a relationship just yet and although that saddens me, in 5x09 it’s promised to finally move on towards that. Yes, they are in love and they appear to be also committed to each other but I do not think we have enough evidence to claim they are in a relationship but then again what happens in the stages between Ellis and Lauren as Lucifer and Chloe almost never gets out.
Concluding the 5x08 episode we should expect the following. Sure the serial will be killed or arrested with the probability laying on being killed but when have the writers ever played fair? I do not think that the officer who was with Chloe will make it either but here is into hoping! Usually, the reoccurring character that is mentioned or has few lines goes unsung into the light or fire…
We expect that Charlie will manifest an interesting side we were expecting since S4 but will become more prominent in S5 and even though it is expected it will probably catch us by surprise.
As I have said to expect Dan to be now aware of what is going on and who Lucifer actually is.
There is a young girl in the cast which I have no idea what her role is. Also, there is a small LUX scene in this episode for which we know next to nothing I’m afraid as it must be something really quick.
Tumblr media
Another information is that there was a bts with a flying harness. The bts says for floating only and I’ll believe that but I cannot swear to you it will be used for Lucifer. Sometimes stunts are employed in different jobs or have different routines so although I’m positive about it I cannot guarantee it’s for our show. Plus, we know that there is a lot of CGI happening in this episode.
Tumblr media
Now the last part I want to talk about before adding a small mention to 5x09. I have said many times that everything in this season is connected. When I saw that prop I wondered whether to not mention it or to do so with the minimal effect possible. So I did the second. I covered the extra spoilers around it and I left two things. Lucifer’s suit jacket and the engraved ankh on that prop. When the season drops you will get the whole thing but for now it.
Tumblr media
Borrowing some lines from Wikipedia you will probably realize where this is going:
This sequence was found in several Egyptian words, including the words meaning "mirror", "floral bouquet", and "life". In art, the symbol often appeared as a physical object representing either life or substances such as air or water that are related to it. It was especially commonly held in the hands of ancient Egyptian deities, or being given by them to the pharaoh, to represent their power to sustain life and to revive human souls in the afterlife.
Early versions bear a resemblance to the tyet symbol, a sign that represented the concept of "protection". In many respects the tyet resembles an ankh, except that its arms curve down. Its meaning is also reminiscent of the ankh, as it is often translated to mean "welfare" or "life" it’s also a symbol that came to be connected with the goddess Isis. In some decorative friezes in temples, all three signs, or the ankh and was alone, were positioned above the hieroglyph for a basket that represented the word "all": "all life and power" or "all life, power, and stability”.
For the ones who fear I have gone too far, fear not. Even with the above the actual plot is still well concealed but two things are exposed.
1) Everything at some point backfires.
2) AGN might have been into something.
That’s, of course, a spoiler based speculation but the spoiler is still there. The supernatural aspect of S5 rearranges things and views on people, reals and even entities. When they ask me - no idea with what authority I can answer those question as I’m but a fan - whether one will live more or they will both die or even if they will grow old etc the reality lies on a very simple truth.
Most fans envision of Deckerstar and the series finale is based to what we know not what S5 introduces us to. New episodes mean new information and new facts to take into consideration. Above all? Lucifer as a series is not a regular show that abides to human rules meaning time, life, death and procreation. It goes beyond that and that is why we can rarely speculate about where it leads us as that damn Lightbringer shines too bright for any of us to see clearly where that path leads us.
Finally, I would like to add an observation from 5x09 but without bts. In one bts we saw that Lauren had certain marks but none noticed the deathly pale make up. 5x09 does not support Chloe’s death as you know but Deckerstar moving forward with also a romantic scene on location at Grand Park of L.A. So why should we so worried about?
Nothing really aside from the fact that Chloe was probably wrong as was Lucifer. Past and Present seem to be merged and new realizations arise thus giving our leads an equal footing but the consequences have most probably hit Chloe at the beginning of 5x09 not in a bad way necessarily yet enough for the whole mess of Dan, Charlie, Lucifer and Chloe to bring forward God’s appearance in 5x10 for some answers to be finally given as new problems once again plague the main storyline of the series. Nothing drastic ever brings forward only good or evil. Sometimes it makes you Fall, sometimes it makes you Rise Sometimes both happen and sometimes, sometimes everything is reinstated to the preconceived era of everything.
Spoiler Alert indeed…

TVGuide.com interview with Tom Ellis & Lauren German
When you look back at the first season of Lucifer, what evolutions and changes have surprised you the most? Tom Ellis: You start a show in Season 1, and you really have no idea where it's going to go. In the pilot script, Lucifer was a very irreverent character. He didn't seem to care about anything other than himself. It was just, f-- his dad and f-- everyone. He just doesn't care anymore. He's decided to do things his own way. When we shot the pilot, the relationship with Decker — it was apparent that it was something that was going to blossom. I don't think I'd really comprehended what a journey it would be, and how kind of less devilish Lucifer would become as he evolves and spends more time with humanity. Especially as he spends more time with the Detective, and what that brings out of him. Lauren German: You look back now, and Lucifer's been helping do such wonderful things with Chloe — helping get bad guys, and he helps her learn about herself. You would never think, even when you and I got the roles, that it would have turned into this very sentimental, caring friendship where there are feelings. Where this man, Lucifer, has just been more like an angel who has helped. Ellis: Ironically. German: Yeah, I know! I know. Not necessarily a fallen angel. Just a really great angel. Ellis: That's quite interesting — [the characters have] been like angels in each other's lives. We spent five years pulling the layers back, having a character that was very stoically one way, and then realizing — and seeing him realize — that there's much more to him than that. And that has been exposed by the Detective, basically. They are the most vulnerable when they're with each other. That's so interesting, because the Detective makes Lucifer vulnerable, physically, but they've made each other… Ellis: Emotionally vulnerable. German: Absolutely. Chloe Decker has undoubtedly influenced Lucifer to a great degree. But how do you think Chloe has changed as an individual, whether changed by Lucifer or just by circumstance? German: I feel like Chloe has become more tender and more OK, at this point, with being vulnerable emotionally, like Tom was just saying. I think that her and Dan probably had a great relationship, but there's nothing with anyone ever before [comparable to] what she feels with Lucifer. There's just such respect there. I think she's always in awe of how he helps people and how he helps her come out of her shell and feel things she hasn't really felt with anybody. There's a lot of love and respect there, and her vulnerability is more present than ever before — but that can often be the most intoxicating element in a relationship. Someone that keeps you on your toes can be thrilling. It can be a different level of love from the love she has for Trixie or for Dan. It's just this… you know… sad fireworks. [Both Ellis and German laugh] If you look at Chloe early on in the show's run, Chloe had quite a few defenses up. But then again, I'm not sure which character had more walls up. Ellis: Yeah, they both had walls up. But the weird thing with Lucifer was that he was very open with everybody about the fact he was the Devil, including with the Detective, but she wasn't having any of it. Actually that sort of played into their relationship because without that element, Lucifer is kind of nothing, he's stripped down to, "Well, what is it you see in me?" I think the interesting thing, for both of the characters' development, has been when the Detective found out he actually was the Devil at the end of Season 3. In a weird sort of way, that's like Lucifer's biggest fear — that she actually found out. He assumed at the beginning of Season 4 that she had disappeared and that's it. You know, no one wants to know the Devil. And the knowledge that she left put him in metaphorical hell. Ellis: Yeah, he was in a personal hell about that. That's why it was so disappointing when we got canceled [by Fox]. It was like, we just got to the [midpoint of the story], and I wondered what the second half of the story was going to be. [That revelation] laid down challenges for our characters. The fact that she knows he's the Devil and she suddenly has to forget all these things about science and logic — all the things that made her the person that she is — she's able to see through that, and still see the man beyond that. And that is quite an amazing and humbling experience for Lucifer. I started watching it thinking it was a charming, fun, witty show. But it's turned into this sweeping love story. Did you expect to go in this epic romance direction? German: I didn't. I never projected it feeling this genuine. The fact that Lucifer and Chloe have never been together or dated — when that happens in life with someone, we've all been there, where you may want to be with someone but for whatever reason, you can't. If you love the person and they're still in your life, it forces you to get to know them better and love them in a different way than maybe just a physical way. So I think, luckily, through our trials and tribulations, Chloe and Lucifer have been forced to get to know each other in a way that brings so much more depth to the friendship and the love and the respect. [The fact that we've gone down that path] for so long — it just feels like it means so much. As opposed to maybe in Season 2 or something, if we just started dating — then it becomes about that. This feels so tender and precious and beautiful because it's been kept at arm's length a bit. I love that. It's almost like, when it comes to their relationship, there's a hesitance to plunge fully in, because what if you break it? German: Yeah. Ellis: Yeah. That is a lot of how Lucifer feels. When we find ourselves in Season 5, he's in a place where he is acknowledging all these things — but for him, that is terrifying, because what if, like he has done many times in the past, what if he messes all that up? Like that one time he got exiled from Heaven. That's a bit scarring, right? Ellis: Exactly! Completely scarring. Weirdly, as someone who presents as supremely confident, he's actually his biggest doubter. Especially when it comes to something like this, because this is new territory. All these feelings that he's been exposed to and is feeling — he doesn't know what to do with them, because that's not his safe place. He's been seemingly happy to just do what he wants and say what he wants. But actually, when it comes down to it, he's as vulnerable as everybody else when it comes to sharing your emotions with someone. Going back to your question, when you start off with a pilot script, for me first thing that was appealing was the fun of the character and the relationship of these two and the fact that you've got someone whom he doesn't affect in the same way as everybody else. That was the conceit to start with. Knowing where that was going to go and knowing it's going to turn into this big epic love saga — I don't think either of us really comprehended that. Because the other thing about when you're approaching pilots, you're kind of led to believe [the shorthand description] — "This is a medical drama," "This is a procedural cop drama," and so forth. When people were trying to shoehorn this into one of those soundbites in the early days, it would have been easy for us to think, "Oh well, we'll just do a case of the week and that will be that." That's been the beauty of the show — yes, there is this procedural element to it, but it's consistently affected by how these two feel about each other. German: Thank goodness. Imagine... Ellis: Could you imagine? German: It's been deeper than that, thank god — thank you writers, a lot. Thank you, everyone! So when we left Chloe at the end of Season 4, she told Lucifer she loves him. And then he went home. What's that like for someone who had those walls up? German: I think it's pretty brutal. For someone like Chloe, who really does have so many walls up, finally, finally she gets to this point where she just can't almost take it anymore, and is so in love with him, and she tells him. And he leaves. And so… Ellis: …And it seems reciprocated — well, it is. But there's something in that last scene that didn't happen and that is kind of fuel for our [fifth] season. You know, [Lucifer] didn't actually reciprocate what was said. German: I think Chloe's heartbroken, but it's like, you can't turn off love. It's actually really fun to play the element of, "He said what he said" — or hasn't said — "and this is where I'm at and this is how I'm feeling." Chloe is maybe feeling a little rejection, a little heartbreak, but she's smart enough and knows him enough to go, "There's such good in there. I know it." Ellis: She has an incredible amount of faith in Lucifer, which is really quite warming. German: Yeah. It's consistent. But is there an element of danger in the whole situation? All these very restless demons we saw at the end of Season 4 probably want to run around and do demon-y things, I would imagine. German: But for Chloe, all he's ever done is protect or help me. I wouldn't necessarily want to see his anger, which I've seen a couple of times. But I think Chloe feels very safe with him. And as for Lucifer taking his throne back — it's been a while since he was down in Hell. I would imagine that's not going to be a simple task. Ellis: No, it's not that simple. At the beginning of Season 5, our characters are poles apart celestially, and geographically as well. And how we get them back together — that's not really a spoiler because you know that at some point they will get back together in the same room — it does kind of cement this faith that they have in each other. But it's like you say, nothing is simple when there are celestial threats around.

Lucifer Morningstar - Jealous, Protective
Third entry to my One Year Anniversary event!
Hope you enjoy!
*gif not mine*
Tumblr media
Jealous *** The sound of an empty glass meeting marble made you look up. Lucifer was sitting at the bar in his apartment, his eyes locked on the wall of bottles. You moved over to him, listening to the click of your heels against the floor. "What's the matter?" You placed your clutch on the bar next to him as you leaned against it and gave him a look. "You're pouting." "I am not," he snapped back childishly. And then as if he realized what he'd done, he scoffed and leaned forward to grab the bottle of whatever he had been drinking. Before he could pick it up, you wrapped your fingers around it and pulled it out of his reach. He gave you a sour look but didn't try for it again. "I mean it Lucifer, what's wrong? You look, I don't know. Angry maybe?" You watched him turn the empty glass in a circle, his ring glinting in the low light of the apartment. When he didn't immediately answer, you reached out to lightly grab the wrist that was closest to you. "Lucifer?" He glanced over to you before he sighed and stood up, moving away from the bar completely. Just as you were about to follow him, he turned around to face you. "How was your date with the doctor? Although he is just a doctor for the spawns of humans and not an important doctor, but still something I suppose. I sure hope he was a gentleman. Unless you're not into that." You weren't new to Lucifer's spirals, but it had never been aimed at you before. The two of you had a good friendship, although you weren't sure he would use that term. He probably just considered you someone with whom he passes the time. It was why you went on the date with Brian. You knew you needed to get over your little crush on Lucifer but it had backfired. Brian had been a poor substitute. Hell, being out with Brian for twenty minutes was more to reaffirm your feelings than anything else. "It was fine," you said with a shrug, turning away from Lucifer and looking at the bar top. "He was a perfect gentleman." He had pulled your chair out and opened doors for you. He paid for dinner even after you offered to pay for yourself. And at the end of the night, when he sensed that you weren't interested, he didn't do more than tell you that he had a good time before he helped you into a cab. Perfect gentleman, but not perfect for you. "Well I suppose a second date will help you seal the deal if that's what you're worried about," he shot back before he moved around the bar and towards the bottles on the wall. "There won't be a second date," you said with a shrug. That made Lucifer turn to look at you. "Why ever not? I thought most human woman looked for a doctor as a bed partner and potential life mate?" There he went again with his strange parlance. It just added to your affection for the man in front of you. And why shouldn't you just admit that the reason you weren't going to see Brian again was because he wasn't Lucifer? What was the worst that could happen? Lucifer was Lucifer. Even if he didn't want something long term, he surely wasn't going to turn you down in a way that would embarrass you. He had more manners than that. With that in mind, you took a deep breath and met Lucifer's gaze head on. "There won't be a second date because it's not him that I'm interested in." Lucifer cocked his head to the side for a moment and you watched as he thought on your words. It gave you the opportunity to watch as the penny dropped. "Oh," he said shortly, and then longer and drawn out, "ooooooh." The grin that started to curl on his lips made you duck your gaze. You were glad that you obviously hadn't been obvious in your feelings before now. He took a few steps until he was just on the other side of the bar, still grinning. "Well isn't this a revelation," he teased as he leaned on his forearms on the bar. A little embarrassment at being the direct focus of his attention made your skin start to heat up under his gaze. Or maybe that was just your general reaction to him. No, you were pretty sure there was more to it. This man now knew your dirty little secret, your deepest desire that you had kept hidden from him all this time. Somehow. "Well well well," he said as he leaned a little further into your space, the grin softening into something gentle and sweet, "I think I can help you with that." Your heart skipped a beat as you met his look with a smile.
Protective *** That was blood dripping down your arm. Definitely blood. You winced and stumbled a bit, your bloody hand smacking against the reflective surface of the elevator as you tried to settle your breathing. You'd made a bad decision in going after the smugglers on your own and now you were going to have to deal with Lucifer and Chloe lecturing you. Well, Chloe would lecture you. Lucifer would probably just scold you for being stupid enough to get hurt. They had both told you that it was too dangerous for you. You hadn't become a private investigator to sit on the sidelines. Granted you probably shouldn't have gone up against armed smugglers. That was a bad idea. The elevator doors slid opened and you stumbled into the apartment. It looked blissfully empty. Chloe was probably at the police station or chasing down a lead. Lucifer was either with her or off doing something equally as stupid as you had done. You slumped on the couch, unable to make it even to the bathroom to try to clean yourself up. Blood drops followed you from the elevator which looked a little like a crime scene. You needed to clean it all up before either of them got there, but as you leaned back on the couch, you slowly found yourself drifting off to sleep. Your pain-filled dreams were interrupted by a sharp wave of pain as your body was rocked back and forth, your name being chanted like a prayer over you. You blinked up in confusion and pain, mouth unable to form words as you stared at a distraught Lucifer. "I thought," he said, bowing his head to yours for a moment, "I thought you were dead. There was so much blood. What happened? Who did this to you?" It took a few tries before you could explain what happened. Each word made Lucifer's face go from fear and worry to anger and even more anger. He helped you get cleaned up, his hands calm and gentle on your skin as he washed you clean of blood. He was less skilled in patching you up, but once you were both sure that you were in no more danger of bleeding out, he carried you to his bed. "You'll stay here. I have some smugglers to deal with," he said as his eyes seemed to flash. Surely it was just the lighting in his bedroom. "This punishment is mine and mine alone. The LAPD will just have to wait." Before you could ask what he meant by that, Lucifer dropped a kiss to your forehead and he left you in a storm. You searched for your phone and called Chloe, stumbling over an explanation of what happened to you and what Lucifer had said. Later, between you worrying and sleeping, you felt someone kneel in the bed next to you. When you struck out in terror, a hand wrapped around your wrist and a soothing voice filled your ears. "It's me love," Lucifer said as he lowered himself to the bed next to you, "you're safe here." You blinked away the sleep and looked him over. There was blood splatter on his shirt, concentrated around his cuffs as well. You ran your fingers over them and looked up at him. "What did you do Lucifer?" He settled in next to you, pulling you into his chest. "I did what I had to. Those smugglers would have come after you again just for what you had seen. I had to keep you safe. Not even the detective could fault me for that and in the end, she helped me make sure they will never bother you again." He explained that the smugglers had pulled guns on her and the other officers and they had no other choice but to shoot to kill. It had been easy for Lucifer to explain that the smuggler he had been beating had threatened his life and yours since Chloe had heard it from you as well. "You shouldn't have done that," you scolded even as you snuggled in closer to his chest. "You could have gotten in a lot of trouble." "Oh, it would have been worth it but you don't need to worry about me. I've performed my duty quite happily tonight." You smiled as you rested your head over his heart. "Your duty of punishment?" He pressed a kiss to your head as he held you close to him. "I failed my duty of protecting you from harm, so yes, I served out due punishment. My only regret is that I won't be in Hell to greet the perpetrators once more." You snuggled close to Lucifer, pressing a kiss to the hollow of his throat and sighing as you closed your eyes once more. "Thank you Lucifer," you whispered as you drifted off to sleep again.

How Do You Know It’s Finished? Or: Does God actually have a plan?
A Priest Walks Into A Bar is one of my favorite episodes of Lucifer. Full stop. Season 1 gets a decent amount of flack for some tonal issues as they were finding their feet, but if you’re looking for episodes that deal with the Big Questions, Season 1 really sinks it’s teeth into them. 1x09 deals with a larger question within the context of a more intimate one. Does God have a plan? More specifically, does he have a plan for Lucifer?
What we’re essentially asking is the question of pre-destination versus free will. Given that free will is one of the standard responses to the problem of evil, let’s take a (brief!) look at the Problem of Evil.
The Problem of Evil
The Problem of Evil is the logical contradiction that arises from the following axioms. If God is all of the following:
1.) omniscient - all-knowing
2.) omnipotent - all-powerful
3.) omni-benevolent - good
Then why does evil exist? If God is any of the two, but not the third, then the state of the world is perfectly explainable. An omniscient and omni-benevolent God knows everything and is good, but lacks the power to resolve the problem of evil. An omnipotent and omni-benevolent God is all powerful and good, but lacks the knowledge of all evil in the world - evil is capable of hiding. And an omniscient and omnipotent God that is NOT omni-benevolent means that God has deliberately created evil for Reasons.
(It is worth noting that the idea of God embodying all three of these axioms is a very Christian concept of God, but given that the character of Lucifer originated from John Milton’s famous Bible fanfic, Paradise Lost, it may be fair. Of course, Gaiman himself is Jewish and some Jewish thought tends to drop omniscience from the equation. We’ll come back to this, because if you have a God that can change, then God becomes much more interesting in a narrative structure.)
This is, as you can imagine, a logical contradiction that has fascinated theologians and philosophers for centuries, but the most popular resolution within popular culture is the concept of free will. In other words, evil is our fault, not God’s. The ability to choose gives the very concepts of good and evil relevance, in fact.
Free will has plenty of problems, but its issues are irrelevant in terms of this discussion because we are dealing with a fictional universe, where free will and the axiom of choice work very well within drama. And within the universe of Lucifer, free will exists. Choice is a central theme because everyone in the universe self-actualizes to an extent.
Humanity chooses their final destination based on their own subconscious judgment (God is completely uninvolved). Angels literally control their own appearances and abilities subconsciously. Lucifer’s devil face (and later his entire transformation) are manifestations of his own self-hatred while Amenadiel’s fall and the restoration of his wings (but not his ability to slow time) are based on his judgment of his own virtue and his connection to humanity.
So, let’s wrap this back around to the big question - is the universe predestined or not? Do our choices actually matter or does God have a plan and your choices are an illusion?
Predestination
One of the things that makes 1x09 work so well as an episode is watching patterns come together.
A parent without a child tries to reconnect with and guide the child of his lost friends, who has gotten himself into trouble. That leads him into Lucifer’s bar - where Lucifer just happens to have recently gotten involved with investigating homicides. Once Lucifer’s involved, Chloe gets involved when they find the head of the program murdered, leading them to Conor and the Spider’s operation. Which leads to Conor being literally put in the middle of two men fighting over him and being forced to choose between their very different visions of his life. Father Frank then chooses to put himself between Conor and the Spider, getting himself shot, which leads to him dying in Lucifer’s arms.
We know that at one point God had a plan - Lucifer confirms that. In fact, it’s the central tenant of Father Frank’s faith. The idea that all of his pain and loss had a purpose behind it is how he deals with grief and finds meaning in a loss that can and has broken people before him.
It’s Lucifer who points out the obvious - that killing a young girl and two loving parents in service of the Plan is cruel. It leaves two people behind who are broken in the exact same way, but who deal with it very differently. Frank finds faith and turns to helping others where Conor becomes extremely vulnerable and prey to the predators of the world like the Spider in his own search for a place to belong.
Perhaps that does a good job of illustrating the different choices available to people, but how much of a choice did Conor actually have? He was a child without the coping processes of an adult, grew up in foster care, clearly bounced around the system and so desperate for love and affection while also mistrusting healthier expressions of those emotions due to being (unwillingly) abandoned by his dead parents that he was drawn into a criminal drug operation in an attempt to find his place.
if we believe that this was all a plan, then both Frank and Conor’s choices were illusions. Yes, they made choices, but their circumstances and environments shaped those choices.
In a system like this, think of the choices people make in terms of a physics problem. If you’re looking at a single atom, it is chaotic - able to go in any direction. But, put that atom in a sea of other atoms, in various environments and you can start to predict with reasonable accuracy how the group is going to behave - which other atoms it might bond to, how it’ll react under pressure or with the introduction of other elements. Patterns begin to emerge.
Lucifer had just put out a fragile tendril of friendship before watching it be cut away with Frank’s tragic fate, his friend’s last words suggesting that all of this was to simply put Frank in Lucifer’s path for…what reason? To remind Lucifer that his Father has a plan? That his Father isn’t done with him, to imply that all of Lucifer’s suffering up to this point has a Purpose? A role he is being shaped for?
Lucifer already knows this. Lucifer has already rebelled against this. Frank’s fate is just more evidence to Lucifer that his Father’s plans are needlessly cruel and manipulative.
And, honestly, Lucifer has a point.
Can God Change?
Earlier, we talked about the Problem of Evil. However, the role of God changes dramatically if we drop one of the axioms - and I would argue that Gaiman, as well as the Lucifer show runners have done just that.
God is, frankly, far more interesting if He is capable of change, just like our main characters. The biggest issue with the traditional Christian interpretation of God is His very perfection, which makes Him utterly static. A perfect deity is, well...boring. Especially within the context of a narrative.
At it’s heart, Lucifer is a show about family - the families we come from that shape us and the families that we create around us - and how the two can and do merge.
Imagine the frustration of a God who loves His son, has all the power in the world to effect change - but doesn’t know how best to employ it? Who didn’t see Lucifer’s rebellion coming and reacted out of anger or frustration or even sorrow, possibly understanding how things went so wrong in retrospect, but unsure how to reach out to a child who was holding that much anger and self hatred? How would that parent try to help their child? Do you give them space? Do you actively punish them so that they understand the consequences of their actions? Do you passively stand back and let the consequences of their actions play out so that they learn and grow?
Given how subtle divine intervention is within the show, it’s reasonable to assume that God is mostly trying to stay out of things - after all, why bother with free will if you don’t let people exercise it?
Free Will
We know that choice is important within the universe of Lucifer. So, if God is looking at humanity like a social physics problem, then He probably has a pretty decent idea of how general patterns will pan out and the divine intervention, as such, is much more subtle. Father Frank, after all, has a number of different ways he can attempt to help Conor, but he chooses to go to Lucifer Morningstar, a club owner known to grant favors.
Father Frank is a priest - presumably he believes in the Devil. He may not believe, when he first steps foot in LUX, that the man in front of him is the actual, literal Devil, but the absurdity is enough to rope Lucifer in. So, where did Father Frank get the idea to go to the Devil for help?
Well, we’ve got the luxury of having an episode told with God narrating it, so let’s briefly poke the bear that is 3x26 - Once Upon A Time.
Aside from arranging for Chloe to be born, God is very specific that He is NOT controlling the situation. In fact, in order to run this little experiment, He only makes one, tiny change. He moves a bullet a few inches to the left and John Decker survives the assassination disguised as a robbery.
The central question of 3x26 is, “Did God’s plan of putting Chloe in Lucifer’s path actually change anything?” And the answer at the end of the episode is a fairly clear ‘no.’
“And some, no matter how you shake things up, are drawn to the same people, the same passions. So all seems to have ended well, does that mean I never should have manipulated things to begin with? I have a better question: wouldn’t you, in my shoes? After all - a parent just wants what’s best for their child.”
Who knows whether God planted the idea or not, but a priest walks into a bar to ask the Devil for help.
Once that happens, the patterns continue to play out, but there is room for each individual choice to matter. Conor could have chosen to shoot Father Frank and prove his loyalty. Father Frank could have chosen to try to pull Conor out of the way of the bullet instead of stepping in front of it.
But they make the choices they make and in the end, Father Frank again lies dying in Lucifer’s arms, insisting that his choice was worth it because Lucifer’s Father has a plan - but the subtext has changed. Father Frank dies believing his death will serve the Purpose of showing two lost sons that they are loved.
The Messenger
The parallels here are not subtle. Conor and Father Frank are very much a reflection of Lucifer and his Father. Except that, in Lucifer’s eyes, Father Frank is fighting for Conor whereas he was abandoned. This episode is the first time that Lucifer is asked to question that basic assumption about his life.
Father Frank: “God has faith in him. In all of us. Even in our darkest moments.”
Lucifer: “You really believe that, don’t you?”
Father Frank: “I do. Why don’t you?”
Lucifer: (looking visibly uncomfortable) “Because he didn’t have faith in me.”
Father Frank: “I felt that way once too. But now I know, deep in my heart. God has a plan for me.”
Lucifer: (scoffing) “Oh his plan for me was quite clear.”
Father Frank. “How do you know it’s finished?”
From Lucifer’s perspective, that question should be terrifying. His Father’s plan has already gotten him sent to Hell to rule over the damned for all eternity. What more could God want from Lucifer?
I would argue that what God wants is quite simply what’s best for his son - his child who believes so throughly that he is damned that he’s manifested a completely different, horrific face to punish himself with. Lucifer doesn’t believe in second chances. So He shows him one.
Conor chooses not to kill Father Frank, twice. He chooses to stand against the Spider. Those choices cost him, but the cost of his actions doesn’t negate their importance. In the wake of losing Father Frank, Conor again chooses to help the police, taking down a drug operation that was preying on vulnerable children inside that foster center, which will presumably make L.A. a slightly safer place for those kids.
Chloe sees the potential for good in the consequences of this night, and she speculates about that to Lucifer. But Lucifer’s in no state of mind to hear it. What he does do, however, is significant. He allows himself to feel pain and, rather than numbing it, as we see him fail to light the cigarette, he yells at his Father.
The dialogue is one sided and angry, but it’s implied that this may be the first time Lucifer has spoken to his Father since he became the Lord of Hell. This is a relationship that had been depicted as broken beyond all hope of repair, both sides having shut down communication with the other.
Father Frank’s sacrifice changes all of that. Yes, the priest gets to fulfill his desire of helping Conor make a different choice, a better choice. But he’s also a messenger. The subtext becomes less, “you are being shaped for a role” and more “your Father still loves you and has never given up on you.”
What if what God’s initial goal was to simply get his son to talk to him?
Redemption
The next episode, Pops, is very revealing when it comes to Lucifer’s internalized guilt that he won’t be able to begin voicing until the end of season three. The things he says about Junior’s relationship to his father again parallel his own estrangement from his Father.
Anne: “That ungrateful kid was given everything and he threw it all away. But it didn’t matter. He was still the favorite.” (emphasis mine)
Lucifer: “Because he was worthy of his father’s love! And he had a chance at redemption until you ruined it!”
This exchange indicates that God’s desire for reconciliation is mutual. That doesn’t mean that either party wants to go back to the way things were - Lucifer doesn’t want to change who he is or what he’s done, whether he regrets it or not. That’s impossible and he knows it. But there is a desire to move forward, and for Lucifer putting the past behind him is very much about leaving Hell and it’s throne firmly behind.
But getting to that point of reconciliation is already going to be hard enough without Lucifer trapped in the same spiral of anger, guilt and pride.
So God reaches out, using a priest who has a shocking amount in common with Lucifer, to try to begin mending the breach. The consequences play out far beyond the end of 1x09. In the climax of Season 1, as Lucifer lies on the hangar floor, bleeding out, we see him open a dialogue again with his Father. Yes, he’s desperate, but would he have believed that asking his Father might do anything if it hadn’t been for Father Frank?
And this time, we see God answer. When Lucifer is desperate for help, his Father doesn’t abandon him. Instead, he gives him an opportunity. Moreover, he gives him an opportunity on Lucifer’s terms. The only way his son knows to ask for help is to offer a deal - sacrificing Lucifer’s own agency in exchange for Chloe’s life.
Yes, it’s a sign of Lucifer’s growth over the season, but it’s made clear that Lucifer going back to Hell was always a much more likely possibility than Lucifer himself ever wanted to accept. Lucifer came to earth with multiple backup options to get back to Hell - first Amenadiel, who will happily drag Lucifer back. Then the wings, which he burns and finally the Pentecostal coin that we see Lucifer playing with over and over again. Lucifer has planted the seeds of his own escape from Hell.
God’s intervention is subtle. Again, all He does is make a slight change - He moves the Pentecostal coin from Malcom’s possession back to Lucifer’s. The biggest difference is that He lets Lucifer know that he’s involved at all.

A Devil’s Love: Chapter 6
AN: *whistles* 7k words this time! Seriously, I’m sorry this chapter is so long. I wanted season two episodes twelve & thirteen to be in one chapter, and it ended up being way longer than I anticipated. I was thinking about splitting it up...but I got ideas for chapter seven. I think I can promise to you all that the chapters will NOT be this long. The longest I would want them to be is 5k or slightly over, minimum 2500. Almost done with season two! Maybe...two or more chapters to go? Then onto season three, and I can’t wait!
Check out this story's playlist on Spotify! If you do please read the description so you can see how the songs are organized!

Chapter 6: I Believe In You
A week had passed since you left your "nurse" to heal on your own.
Within the first two days your body had completely healed. The rest of the five days you spent planning with Alice for the grand opening of the "Circle of Life Veterinary Clinic #2", and also helping out Chloe with any cases since it seems that her partner was avoiding her.
When Chloe called you to say she couldn't find any evidence linking Charlotte Richards to the second bomb, thank God, she told you about her "talk" with Lucifer.
Apparently their talk consisted of Chloe explaining how she has been feeling and what made her kiss him, even after he declared all of his flaws to her. Lucifer said nothing, according to Chloe. He just listened intently, and when all was said and done he said he needed to think. Chloe agreed to give him time, but she started expressing her concerns to you after the third day of silence.
Honestly, you couldn't blame Lucifer. You hate talking about emotions too, and Lucifer didn't seem like the kind of guy who easily dealt with this kind of stuff. It's probably why he has a therapist.
However, Lucifer hadn't been completely silent this week. He did text you everyday. First it was just to make sure you were doing well healing, then it just became friendly chatter. You did question him on why he was giving Chloe the silent treatment. You expected him to ignore the question, instead he shocked you by answering.
What if it's not real?
It looks real to me, Lucifer, and to others.
Yes, well, I'm starting to think that the Detective is no longer immune to me. She has been with me too much and now my charm is coming off on her. She might even be no longer immune to my power...It'll probably happen to you too.
...uh, what? :confusedemoji:
Ah. Never mind, darling.
So, not missing my shower, yet? It sure misses you. :devilemoji:
And, that was that. You didn't dare tell Chloe about it, one because she'd be just as confused as you, and two she really didn't need to get the wrong idea about that shower comment.
Today's the day of the grand opening, and everything is going smoothly. Your new workers are happily greeting the pets as well as the owners while handing out coupons, pamphlets on the pet health care, and answering any questions. Alice sat at a booth with a couple of the receptionists taking down new client info and signing up those interested in the insurance. You stood in front of the big red ribbon, talking to the press and answering questions while you waited for the time to tick to 11am.
Your phone started ringing Chloe's tone. You excuse yourself and head inside your clinic to answer.
"What's up, Chlo?"
"Hey, Earth. I'm sorry to bother you, but I need you to do something."
You love your BFF, really you do, but you can't cancel this opening. Not only would it be embarrassing, but you were starting to run low on cash, "No problem, so long as I can do it over the phone."
"Don't worry, I know this opening is important to you." You hear her sigh, "This case I'm currently on is...it's bad, Earth. I'm thinking psychopath bad. Premeditated murder."
Oh shit, "Damn, Chloe. Look if you need me I'll-"
"No no. Focus on your opening today. If I don't get this solved today maybe you can help me tomorrow."
"The opening isn't all day, Chloe. I'll help as soon as it's over."
"You're going to have a lot of first patient paperwork. Take this day for that. Look, I'm calling to ask you to talk to Lucifer."
"He still isn't talking to you?" Yes, you do agree with him needing time because emotions suck, but now it felt like he was stonewalling your friend.
"No. Ella's too busy with this case right now, and I know Lucifer won't even consider listening to Dan. I'm hoping he'll listen to you."
"Alright, Chlo. I'll get your partner back to you."
"Thank You, Earth." You could just feel the tension release from her over the phone, "Tell him to meet me at the Malibu State University so I can catch him up on the case."
"You got it." You hang up and see the time is 10:50am. You sigh and click on Lucifer's contact number.
Time to come out of hiding you Devil.
---------------------------------------------------------
"Lucifer." Linda looks at her Devil patient like a stern mother rather than his therapist at the moment, "You're stalling."
Lucifer finishes his glass of water and leans back on the couch, "I don't know what your talking about, Doctor."
"You do, Lucifer." Linda's voice becomes stern and matter of factly, "You and Chloe finally reach a point in your relationship where it can move romantically, but after the kiss you left. After Chloe confesses to you, you push her away. You won't even talk to her, but instead talk to someone else."
Lucifer shifts on the couch, slightly uncomfortable with where this conversation was going.
"Lucifer." Linda's able to get his eyes to stay on hers, "Who is Earth to you? How do you feel about her?"
"I don't know what you want me to say, Doctor." Lucifer is now slightly agitated, "K9 is just a human who's fun to be around."
"She's also another human woman who is immune to your charms. Another human who you can't get to reveal their desires." Linda eyes her patient carefully.
Lucifer clearly fidgets on the couch. He doesn't speak. Instead, he looks to the window.
"I want you to tell me how you felt when you first met Chloe, to how you felt meeting Earth." Linda interlaces her fingers and rests them on her crossed knees. She waits patiently for his reply.
"Well, after the first day with the Detective I felt that she was a puzzle to solve." Lucifer looks at his therapist with a little smirk, "The first human woman to be completely immune to my charms and power. She's a puzzle and I feel a...a connection to her. A need to solve her, to watch her and be around her."
"Mhmm," Linda nods, "and Earth?"
"K9?" Lucifer's smirk forms into a smile. He gives a light chuckle, "From day one I thought of her as a sassy minx, didn't even care that she wasn't attracted to me. Truthfully, I would be too focused on making sure I had a comeback ready for whenever we'd pass each other in the precinct." His eyes start to look far away, lost in memories:
"That real estate case was the first time we talked more than just in passing. I found that we both enjoyed many of the same things, and that we share common views on various topics. I just-" Lucifer stops.
Linda urges him on, "You have to continue, Lucifer. How do you feel around her?"
"I feel...comfortable with her. I have fun with her, enjoy spending time with her. She doesn't believe in me being the Devil either, but I feel like she tolerates it better." His mind drifts to how you reacted seeing his scars.
"Maybe there's a reason as to why…" Lucifer whispers this thought to himself.
"Lucifer, I see these two types of romantic feelings often." Linda didn't hear his comment about you, "There's one where someone claims that they feel a connection with the other, which is usually referred to as 'soulmates'-" Lucifer laughs.
"And," Linda continues, "There's the 'normal'. When two people meet and feel nothing until they get to know each other more. Chloe is your 'connection' and Earth is your 'normal'."
"So, which one is the correct choice?" Lucifer's eyes plead to her, "I don't want to mess this up!"
Linda's heart breaks for him, "I can't answer that for you, Lucifer. What you need to do is find an answer to this question," Linda leans forward:
"If Earth had never come back, had never entered the picture, would you still be giving Chloe the cold shoulder?"
Linda Martin had never seen a person look as lost as Lucifer Morningstar right now.
"I…" Lucifer's phone starts playing "Who Let The Dogs Out". It was the ringtone you set for yourself after you showed him how to give everyone their own personal alerts.
"It's K9, Doctor. She doesn't usually call-"
"It's ok, Lucifer." Linda gives him a knowing smile, "Our time is up anyways."
Lucifer nods a farewell to her and leaves her office, "K9! To what do I owe the pleasure of having a phone call from you?" Lucifer's smiling ear to ear as he walks out of the building and to his car.
"Chloe called me. Again." You sound annoyed.
His smile falls, "Oh…"
"Look, Lucifer. I get it ok? Feelings are a pain in the ass to deal with, but enough is enough. You're really starting to hurt my best friend and you know I won't stand for it."
Lucifer sighs, "I understand, K9. I just-"
"Lucifer, this call wasn't about you. Chloe needs her partner back."
Lucifer paused in his walk hearing the worry in your voice. He stood a few feet away from his Corvette, "What's wrong?"
"There's a new case and it," you sigh, "it doesn't sound good, Lucifer. This guy is bad, really bad. I...can't be there for her today. I don't want her to get hurt." Lucifer doesn't reply right away, and that worried you.
"Lucifer. Chloe isn't going to ask you about anything, ok? She's too focused on stopping this guy. She can't do it without her partner."
Partner...that's right. I'm the Detective's partner, Lucifer thought.
"Well, I suppose I can't leave my partner hanging." Lucifer smirks and finishes the walk to his car.
"No, you can't." Lucifer could tell you were most likely smirking as well, "Not anymore anyways. It's really a dick move."
"Yes, yes." Lucifer sits in his car and starts her up, "Now, where does my partner need me?"
---------------------------------------------------------
The grand opening was a huge success! The clinic had plenty of clients to start off with, and more would surely come when people learned just how well of a veterinarian you are.
You sent your workers home to relax for the first official workday tomorrow. Currently, you and Alice were organizing all the new client paperwork in their respective folders for your receptionists.
But you were starting to have a really hard time focusing on the task. Chloe had been giving you hourly updates on the case, and each new piece of information was making you more and more concerned.
This is no ordinary killer.
Alice noticed you starting to slow down and told you she could handle the rest. Normally you would disagree with her, but this case was one a Captain of any department shouldn't avoid. You give her thanks in a hug then fly out the door and into your new car, courtesy of the police heads.
As you drive to the precinct you call Chloe to let her know you're free. She tells you that her and Lucifer were heading to a college party where the next poison victim, Ashley, was currently at. She gives you the address of the second victim, Dr. Gwendolyn Scott, and tells you Dan is currently there with her to make sure she doesn't do this guys biding.
When you arrive at the precinct you tell your second, Christopher Miller, to round up a small team and three K9's, and that one of the K9's has to be the new pup, Buster, along with his partner, Jessica Blanch. As he left to do as you ask you go into the female locker room and change into your K9 uniform. When you come out you tell your team the situation, and give them the address to Dr. Scott's house. You couldn't send any with Chloe as much as you wanted to. It would blow her cover at that party.
You arrive at the house and station your men and two of the K9's around the outside of the home. You tell Blanch that her and Buster were to guard the inside.
"Hey Dan." You approach Detective Dan Espinoza, or as you liked to refer to Lucifer's nickname for him "Detective Douche".
"Hey Earth! I'm glad you could join in. This guy is…"
"Yeah...it was hard for me to focus during the opening knowing that a person like this was out here." You cross your arms to hide the slight shiver that ran through you.
"That's right, your next clinic! Did everything go well?"
"Yup, better than I expected honestly."
"Well believe it or not, I've heard talk around here about the 'amazing Veterinarian Earth on the east coast'." He winks friendly at you.
"Oh really?" You give him a laugh and a sarcastic look.
"Yeah! I'd over hear convos from new K9 recruits about you. The look on their faces when I told them you used to work here was priceless."
"So that's why I got a whole lot of star struck eye looks when I came back." You and him both share a light laughter, "So," you didn't want to, but this friendly chatter had to end, "where's Dr. Scott?"
Dan took a sidestep and motioned with his head behind him. You saw a clear line of sight of the Doctor sitting in a formal living room. Blanch was introducing herself and asking permission to roam her home. You see Dr. Scott give a warm smile to her and a nod of approval while she scratched Buster's head.
"How's she doing?" You whisper to Dan.
"As good as one can be when they know they're in charge of someone's life." Dan sighs solemnly.
"Yeah…"
Dan's phone rings and he excuses himself. You walk over to Dr. Scott and introduce yourself.
"Hello, Dr. Scott. I'm Earth, Captain of the K9 unit." You hold out your hand and she shakes it. Her palms were sweaty from nerves.
"Hello, Captain. One of your crew just told me how well you are at your job." She smiles at you.
"Aw, Blanch is just a suck up." You give her a wink and she actually manages a laugh.
"You doing alright, Doc?"
She sighs, "Honestly, no. I just keep thinking...what if I don't do as this guy requests? Would I really be ok knowing that my decision to say no would end a young girl's life?"
"Do you mind if I watch the video ma'am?" She shakes her head and stands to walk to her desk. She pulls up the email with the video and plays it for you as she sits back in her chair.
This guy...with his dumb mask and "superior" tone of voice made your skin crawl. He was telling the Doctor that in order to receive the antidote to cure Miss. Ashley, she had to destroy her right hand.
God...Why do people like this exist?
The video ends as soon as Dan walks into the room, "Detective Decker called me ma'am." He was speaking to Dr. Scott, "Her and her partner found Ashley at the party, but unfortunately it looks as though she's already been poisoned."
You watch as the Doctor visibly slumps in distraught on her chair.
"What should I do, Detective?"
"Don't do anything, Doctor. Ashley is at the hospital now and the Doctors are working on an antidote. I'm sure they'll make it in time."
Dr. Scott formed a look on her face that showed how you were feeling.
They won't be able to make it.
Dan leaves the room. You shut off the computer.
"Captain, what should I do? What would you do?"
You don't answer.
---------------------------------------------------------
A few hours pass before Dan receives another call from Chloe.
It's not good news.
"She doesn't have much time left, Dan. The Doctors at the hospital can't figure out the antidote."
"Then it is specially made." Dan replies, his face is grim. You stand next to him to hear the conversation.
Unfortunately, Dr. Scott was close enough as well. She heard.
While Dan was still on the phone you heard a rattling noise. You left his side to investigate, and was horrified by the display that was about to happen in the kitchen.
"GWENDOLYN!" You yelled the Doctor's name and held your hands up. When Dan heard you yell he hung up on Chloe and ran to you, and held his hands up.
Dr. Gwendolyn Scott stood in front of her kitchen sink. The garbage disposal was running and her right hand was hovering over it.
"Dr. Scott, don't do this." Dan pleads with her. You can't speak.
"If I don't do this, Detective, an innocent woman dies. How can I compare my hand to her life."
"Doctor-" Dan starts, but it's too late.
Doctor Gwendolyn Scott shoves her hand into the garbage disposal. You want to vomit as you hear her scream and see blood and bits of flesh erupt from the sink.
Doctor Gwendolyn Scott is a hero.
Dan runs to her, as well as Blanch who heard her screams. You stand still, but find your voice long enough to call for a medic dispatch and call Chloe.
---------------------------------------------------------
Chloe and Lucifer arrive shortly after the medics have Dr. Scott on a gurney and finish bandaging her ruined hand.
The two of them talked with her, Dan stepped outside to get air after that gruesome scene, and you-
You were still standing in the same spot. Your focus entirely on the blood and bits of brown skin that clung to the countertop and sink.
This guy is a monster.
"And I thought you looked fit before. But now."
You choke on air as your body jumps out of your skin. You whirl around and see Lucifer standing behind you with a hungry look.
"You look delicious in uniform, K9. You should wear it more often."
"I only wear this on important cases, and did you really have to use the word 'delicious' in this scenario?" You give him dagger eyes. You hold your chest to breath evenly again.
"Hmm." Lucifer looks at the carnage behind you, "Good point." He smiles down at you, "But at least I got you to stop looking at it."
You look up at him, and can't help the tug at your heart. A corner of your mouth lifts slightly, "Yeah...thanks."
Lucifer just continues to smile at you, but now there's a twinkle in his eye.
"So," you cross your arms and smile fully at him, "How's it feel being back with your partner?"
"It was bloody weird." His sheer bluntness made both your eyebrows go up.
"Only at first though. Thankfully, the Detective seems to be back to her 'normal'." Lucifer plays with his cufflinks and side glances Chloe's direction.
"What happened?"
"She slapped my bum, made inappropriate jokes over a dead body, and suggested making out in the library."
You burst into laughter.
"It's not funny! It was bloody terrifying!" Lucifer complains.
"She was just trying to be more like you, Lucifer." You manage to choke out in your laughter, "Are you saying you're not attracted to yourself?"
"Not if it's the Detective trying to roleplay as me." He visibly shivers and that makes you laugh even more.
The sound of your K9s barking outside the front door immediately cuts off your laughter. Captain mode takes over and you stride away from Lucifer and out the front door to see what was going on. As you passed by Chloe she rested her hand on her holstered gun and gave you a nod.
Miller had a delivery man stopped on the walkway. When you walk over the man says he has a delivery for Doctor Gwendolyn Scott. You question him on who gave him the package, but the man says it just showed up in his pile of runs.
You take the package from him and tell Miller to take him to the station to get an official statement. You go back inside and hand it over to Chloe.
You stand on the other side of the Doctor's gurney, and Lucifer had chosen to stand next to you as Chloe unravels the contents.
She looks up and stares at the three of you.
"It's the antidote."
---------------------------------------------------------
Dan and Chloe drove to the hospital to give Ashley the antidote before it was too late. Lucifer decided to stay with you to "help" you clear out the Doctor's house and wait for the cleaning crew to finish in her kitchen. You noticed Chloe giving him a "look" when he chose to stay behind. You question him about it and he just shrugs saying, "Hospitals are dreadful places."
As soon as the cleaning crew had finished Chloe called you saying to come to the precinct asap with Lucifer. Her and Dan were able to get a link between Ashley and the first poisoned victim.
"I had a feeling this case would be an all nighter." You tell Lucifer as you hang up and you both walk to your car.
"No rest for the wicked, darling." Lucifer smiled devilishly at you. You smiled back.
As you two walk into the precinct you give Alice an early morning text update. You told her you most likely wouldn't be able to make it in the clinic for the first day. Surprising you, she texts back saying "Good thing there's no major surgeries ".
You hate not being at your clinic for the first official day. You and Alice interviewed the workers and other veterinarians extensively, but you always liked working the first couple days with them to make sure they were good. Thank God you had Alice, who you trust wholeheartedly.
You and Lucifer walk into Ella's lab where Dan and Chloe were waiting. You noticed that look again on Chloe when Lucifer decided to stay near you while Ella explained the new information.
Dan and Chloe were able to find out from Ashley that she had received a flu shot earlier in the day. Ella was able to find out that the first victim also got a flu shot the same day he was poisoned. Thanks to the information Ashley gave and what Ella could dig up, both students received their shots by a Dr. Jason Carlisle.
"Dr. Jason Carlisle?" Dan says in shock.
"You know him?" Chloe questions.
"I know of him. Here," Dan goes to the computer in the room and pulls up traffic security footage. You all watch as this Dr. Jason Carlisle crawls out of a turned over vehicle. In the footage you can see the driver of the vehicle asking the Doctor for help, but instead the Doctor grabs his briefcase and runs away as the vehicle explodes, killing the driver.
"Hmph. Some doctor." You cross your arms and shake your head at the actions on the video.
"Yeah. After this was televised Dr. Carlise lost his medical license and all respect from his peers." Dan replies.
"He's probably the one responsible for creating these poisons and their unique antidotes." Ella points out.
"He's doing this to show people how he felt he had no choice." Chloe says.
Lucifer scoffs, "Everyone has a bloody choice."
"So, how do we find this guy?" You ask the room.
"Attack his ego." Lucifer says and everyone looks at him, "I know his type. Attack his precious ego and he'll make himself known."
"That's the stupidest thing-" Dan starts but Chloe leaves the lab in a fly and sits at her desk. Everyone, but Ella, follows the Detective and sees that she's pulled up an email and is writing to Dr. Carlise.
Dan is trying to get Chloe to stop, but Lucifer and you are encouraging her. Both of you tell her various ego tripping things to write, and even though Dan tries to stop her, Chloe hits send.
In less than thirty seconds she receives a reply, and it's a video call. She opens it up and all four of your stare at the man with the mask. Chloe tells him we know who he really is and why he's doing this. The Doctor removes his mask and explains his experiment and how the police presence in Doctor Scott's household "made" her choose to destroy her hand.
You call him out on his bullshit, receiving a low high five from Lucifer, and how Dr. Scott was planning on destroying her hand from the start. Dr. Carlise doesn't believe you, and pans the camera to show you all how he already has another "experiment" happening as we speak. He explains the circumstance and ends the call.
Chloe and Ella do quick work in tracing the call to a hospital that Dr. Carlise was rivals of. Chloe pulls Lucifer by the arm to get him to follow, and after a look from you he obliges.
She's your partner. Protect her.
---------------------------------------------------------
"This case is now top number one of the worst cases I've been on." Chloe flops down on her couch next to you with a full glass of wine in hand.
Chloe asked you to come to her place to unwind after the Hell this case has been. You agreed because you could tell she needed to vent.
She starts talking about the situation that happened over at the hospital Dr. Carlise was holed up in. She talks about how her and Lucifer had to watch helplessly as the Doctor dropped poisonous gas onto the floor, making her and Lucifer unable to just break into the room to save the two students. She talks about her fear of leaving Lucifer alone in that situation in order to catch the Doctor.
She downs her drink quickly after talking about watching the Doctor slit his own throat in front of her. How she watched the life leave his eyes, and neck.
But then, without the wine's help, she becomes giddy and warm. She tells you about how happy and relieved and thankful she was when she saw Lucifer step out of the building completely unharmed. She didn't even think to question him about it.
"I immediately hugged him and said how we do make an amazing team." She says with a far off gaze to her empty glass. She then looks at you with a smile and wet eyes, "He said 'This is real, isn't it?", and ...well."
"It's official now?"
"Yeah."
"That's wonderful, Chlo!" You pull your BFF into an immediate hug while ignoring whatever that feeling was in your chest. She laughs while holding back tears, and hugs you back. You two then talk about things not about the case, and Chloe excuses herself to the bathroom.
You become concerned after ten minutes of her being silent.
"Chloe? You ok?" You got up from the couch and went up into her room. You knocked on the open door.
"I...I don't know…Earth!" You push into Chloe's room and into her bathroom at the sound of her voice. She's standing in front of her sink, which has piles of bloody tissues in it.
---------------------------------------------------------
"DETECTIVE!"
Lucifer Morningstar storms into Chloe Decker's apartment furiously. He looks around the kitchen and living room to see she wasn't there. A noise from above gave him a direction.
"DETECTIVE! DID YOU KNOW?!" Lucifer yells as he storms upstairs.
"THIS WHOLE BLOODY TIME, DID YOU KNOW?!" Lucifer stomps into her room and sees the bathroom door open.
"DETEC-" Lucifer stops when he sees you holding Chloe by the shoulders.
You look at him, wide eyed and terrified, "Lucifer…"
"What-"
"Lucifer," Chloe speaks now in a garbled tone. You allow her to turn around to face her partner.
Lucifer immediately steps into Chloe's personal space at the sight of her red eyes and bloody nose.
Chloe cries, "It won't stop."
---------------------------------------------------------
You stand inside Ella's lab, waiting for the energetic little ball of happiness to come in. You felt bad asking Ella to come in this late at night and after just finishing the last case, but Ella told you not to worry. An emergency is an emergency and it's her job.
Your fingers tap rhythmically on the table in stress. Seeing your BFF being poisoned by something that no one can make an antidote for, except the guy who just commitied suicide, really terrified you. At least, with the help of Lucifer, you were able to convince Chloe to go to the hospital instead of here.
You hear the door open and look up expecting to see Ella. Instead, your heart drops at the site of Lucifer and the woman who should be in the fucking hospital.
"Why the fuck-"
"Calm down, Earth." Chloe holds up her hands to you, "I told him to bring me here."
"Yes, much to my disapproval." Lucifer mutters.
"Chloe-"
"You know me, Earth! I can't just sit by and do nothing when I know I can help!" Chloe says.
"But for how long?!" You move to stand right in front of her, "Chloe, you exerting yourself could make this thing spread faster! We already only have twenty hours if that!"
"I know, Earth!" Chloe can feel Lucifer's hand on the small of her back. She takes deep breaths to calm herself, "I know. Look, I'll be careful, and if it gets too much I swear I'll go to the hospital. But, I need to do something."
You just cross your arms and head back to the table. Ella shows up and Chloe gives her a rundown on the situation without telling the poor girl who the real victim was. Ella explains how they did find some poison on the Doctor's body, but the antidote that went with it had been destroyed. Chloe, Lucifer, and you all share a look.
Then some man you've never seen before is calling Lucifer's name and Lucifer pulls the man into the interrogation room. Seeing as how Ella and Chloe didn't seem to question the strange commotion, you decided not to say anything. Lucifer is a strange guy after all.
Ella starts listing out all the beginning signs of the poison, which makes Chloe turn paler and paler. To derail the talk of it you ask if anyone else could have access to the antidote formula. Ella didn't believe so, but Chloe pops in with hope that maybe the guy who smuggled the stuff in might know something. She didn't believe the Doctor would trust that stuff to be handled by just anyone.
She leaves the room to get Lucifer, but when you offered your assistance she says she wants you to stay with Ella, and eventually Dan, to help think up an antidote. Your heart felt strange when you saw her and Lucifer leave the building, with him being closer to her than usual.
She's dying. Their together. You told him to protect her.
You wipe the feeling away and turn to Ella. This was Chloe who was dying, and you needed everyone to be working at their best.
You tell Ella the truth.
---------------------------------------------------------
Lucifer and Chloe have been gone for about an hour and a half now. Dan showed up not too long after the two left and you, him, and Ella have been working together to try to at least figure out all the ingredients for the antidote.
Lucifer's ringtone starts playing on your phone and you answer it.
"Lucifer-"
"She fainted, K9." He sounds scared. You'd never imagined hearing Lucifer Morningstar sound scared, "I'm taking her to the hospital now."
"Alright, I'll be right there." You hang up and look up to Dan.
"Dan. Get Trixie."
He didn't even have to ask what for. He was out the door in a flash. Ella told you she'd keep working and to give Chloe her love. You nod and head out the door as fast as Dan did.
---------------------------------------------------------
The early morning sun has now risen. Chloe now only had about ten hours left.
You sat in Chloe's room chatting with her about the situation. When you see Lucifer standing at the window you get up and give Chloe a hug. You leave the room and watch from a distance the two of them talk.
You hear Dan and Trixie sign in at the desk behind you, and Lucifer leaves the room just as the ex husband and daughter come to the door. You notice Dan give Lucifer a look of disapproval before entering the room, and one of your hands balls into a fist in your crossed arms.
One of the reasons I dislike that guy. He always puts the blame on someone else.
"I'm sorry." The sound of Lucifer's distress pulls you from your thoughts. You walk to stand in front of him, arms still crossed.
"What for?"
"I didn't protect her. Couldn't protect her. I thought I had by sending her after him, but-" Lucifer starts spilling out. You unfold your arms and place a strong hand on one of his arms, stopping him.
"Lucifer." You stare up at him, "This wasn't your fault. I don't blame you. I blame the bastard of a Doctor who stabbed her with the needle." You let go of him and step to his side so you could watch the tragic family scene through the window.
"I hope you're right about there being a Hell, and I hope he's being tortured as we speak."
"He is darling. Trust me." Lucifer turns around to watch the scene with you.
"Good. Wish I was the one torturing him, though." You sigh, shoulders slumped, "I'm going to get one of my K9s and just chill here. If she…" you choke up, but swallow it, "I'll be here if you need me." You give Lucifer a pat on the shoulder and turn to leave.
"K9."
You stop a few feet from the exit door. You turn your body to face him and your heart breaks at the emotion on his face.
"I promise you, I will get the antidote." Lucifer's tone was serious, but his eyes looked wet. Yet...you felt drawn to him. You could tell he meant what he said.
He always tells the truth.
Unable to contain it any more, tears fall down your face. You run to him and wrap your arms around his neck. You stand on your tiptoes in order to hug him fully.
You're surprised that he doesn't even hesitate to hug you back. He always hesitates when someone hugs him.
"I trust you, Lucifer." You pull him even closer, and only feel slightly ashamed for probably ruining his suit jacket, "I believe in you."
---------------------------------------------------------
Chloe Decker now only has about three hours left.
And you could do nothing.
Lucifer had promised to save her, to somehow get the antidote formula. You had no clue how he could get it, or why you seemed to trust him. You haven't seen him since you hugged him. You've tried texting him to find out how it was going, but he didn't reply. So now you were concerned for his safety because he always replied.
Dan and Ella were having a hell of a time just trying to get the ingredients. Ella texted you not too long ago saying that they're just missing one more, and she thinks she knows where to get it.
And what were you doing? You're standing outside the doors to the lobby area. If you sat in the lobby you'd be looking too much into Chloe's room window, and from the talk of the doctors that were walking by it didn't sound like she was doing too good.
You can't watch your best friend deteriorate so fast in front of your eyes. Besides that, you'd feel like you would get in Trixie's way. She hadn't left her mother's side since she arrived.
You hear Buster whine, and you scratch his head absentmindedly. When you left Lucifer you went to the precinct to grab the first K9 you saw. For protection for Chloe, and comfort for you. You love your dogs.
Buster nudges his nose in your palm. You look down at him.
"What is it, bud?"
He whines some more.
Sorry…out…
"It’s not a problem, bud. I could use some fresh air anyways."
You take Buster to the small green area across the street from the hospital. You lean up against a tree and look up to the sky. You take a deep breath in of city air, and can't help but imagine Chloe never taking a breath again. Never growing old or seeing Trixie grow into a wonderfully strong women. Never playing with possible grandchildren. Never being happy with Lucifer--
You release the breath, "Well, if Heaven's real then she'll be with her dad at least."
You look back to find Buster, "Come on boy." He trots to you and you both walk back across the street and into the hospital.
"Officer!"
You see one of the hospital security guards run to you, "The patient, Chloe Decker, has to move to another room, but there's a man who's blocking the way! He's pushed aside every one of us!"
You nod to the guard and head for the stairwell. You and Buster run up four flights and push through the lobby door.
You watch as two more security guards get tossed aside like dolls back into the lobby. You stride forward, gun aimed and Buster between your legs, "HANDS UP, NOW!"
The man turns around. It's the same man that called for Lucifer in the precinct.
You squint at him suspiciously, "Who are you?!" Buster growls beneath you.
The man looks surprised, "So you're Earth, or well, I guess I should be saying K9."
You grip your gun harder. Buster feels you tense up and walks a bit closer to the man, teeth baring, "Who the hell are you?!"
It's like he just realized now what kind of predicament he's in, "I'm sorry," he holds his hands up to you, "I'm Amenadiel, Lucifer's brother."
You snort.
"Officer! He won't let me get my patient to a more appropriate room!" The main doctor tells you behind Amenadiel.
"Well, as Lucifer's supposed brother, you should know he wouldn't appreciate someone getting in the way of saving Chloe's life." You keep your aim trained on Amenadiel’s chest.
"I do know that, and that's why I can't let Chloe leave this room."
Now you were confused, "Why?"
"Lucifer is getting the formula as we speak, but Chloe needs to stay right here."
"Why?"
Amenadiel shakes his head, "You won't believe me. Look," he puts his hands down and takes a step towards you. You stand your ground and Buster barks at him in warning, "Do you trust Lucifer?"
You’re quiet for a beat. You careful study this "brother", "I do."
"Then please, do not allow Chloe to leave here." You can hear the pleading in his voice. He wants you to believe him.
You look over his shoulder to see Chloe becoming paler in her bed. She started to shake from a slight seizure and the doctor's nurses held her down.
The doctor looks at you, "Please, officer! She needs help!"
You look between her, Amenadiel, and Chloe.
I trust you, Lucifer. I believe in you.
You release air through your nose. You holster your gun. You order Buster to guard the door and not let anyone through or out. You stand next to Amenadiel, "I know she does, Doctor." You cross your arms and stand firm.
Unbeknownst to you, Amenadiel looks at you with interest.
"Chloe Decker is not leaving this room until Lucifer Morningstar returns with the formula."
---------------------------------------------------------
You weren't a rogue cop for long.
You feel somebody grip your shoulder from behind. You whirl around ready to punch whoever it was that got past Buster, but your fists immediately turn into hands of support.
“Lucifer!”
He looks like he just came back from the dead. His clothes are completely disheveled and he was sweating profusely. He holds onto your shoulders tightly and you keep him upright by his underarms with the help of Amenadiel.
He mutters out the formula to the doctor and she runs off to make it with the ingredients Ella dropped off not to long ago. You and Amenadiel move him to chair in the room, but he refuses to sit and instead leans against the wall. Amenadiel leaves quickly, and you’re left “alone” with Lucifer.
“Lucifer…” You start to choke up again. He looks so awful and it’s breaking you.
What did he do?
“Lucifer.” You can’t stop the tears again. You let them fall free while you use both hands to hold on to his face. You wipe the sweat from his brow and try to straighten his hair, “Are you ok?”
“She’ll be ok now,” he breaths out. He looks over you at Chloe, “That’s all that matters.”
“No, Lucifer. That’s not all that matters.” He looks down to you, eyes filled with confusion.
He’s waiting for you to say something, but you’re too choked up on emotion.
I hate emotions, too.
You just wrap your arms around his neck like the first hug, except this one was different. Tighter, different emotions unspoken. He does hesitate on this hug, but eventually his arms find their way around your waist and he holds on tight.
He rests his head on your shoulder, “Earth…” he breaths into your neck.
You remove your head from his shoulder and he does the same from yours. You both stare into each other's eyes deeply. One of his arms snakes it’s way up your back so his hand can hold the back of your head. Your faces start to come closer together, but you can’t tell if he’s doing it or you, or maybe both.
“I have it!” You both blink at each other, seeming to wake up from whatever force was pulling you both. You both look to the side to see the doctor holding a syringe. A nurse puts a tube inside Chloe’s vain and the doctor rushes over. You twist around in Lucifer’s arms so that your back is to him.
You expected him to remove his hands, but instead he keeps one arm around your waist while the other hangs onto the wall. You feel him tug you closer as you two watch Chloe’s vital signs fall back to normal.
“It worked! She’s going to make it!” The doctor says happily. You in turn smile at Chloe as new tears fall from your eyes.
You didn’t see Lucifer’s face turn grim.
---------------------------------------------------------
Lucifer was with Chloe when she first woke up. The two talk briefly before he leaves and tells everyone in the lobby that she’s awake now. He watches as Ella, Dan, Trixie, and you rush into the room. He looks from the window all of you smiling, laughing and hugging Chloe.
He puts his hands in his pockets and stands firm. After one last look at you he leaves.
---------------------------------------------------------
Three days have passed since Chloe’s poisoning. She had to stay in the hospital for the rest of that day just to ease the doctors, and everyone’s, mind that she really was cured. You stayed with her that day along with everyone else.
Except for Lucifer. After you greeted Chloe from waking up you left the room to look from him, but the receptionist said he had left. You thought nothing of it. He had looked to have a rough day after all.
But after twenty four hours of zero response you started getting worried. Chloe kept asking for him and nobody, including yourself and Maze, seemed to be able to get a hold of him.
In present time you were at your clinic. It was past 9pm and everyone went home for the day. You stayed behind to lock up and look at patient reports for the day. You finish putting the reports away and counting the money. Just as you locked the front door Chloe’s ringtone went off.
“Chloe, you alright?” you answer as you get into your car.
“He’s gone, Earth.” She’s trying to keep from crying, “I’m at his penthouse and he’s...everything’s covered it sheets.”
“He’s gone!”

Lucifer season 5 theory
It seems like there are a lot of directions s5 could go, but there's one I've been toying with since I finished season 4. Here are some thoughts, strung together with bullet points:
• Chloe's “God-given” purpose has been fulfilled. She crossed paths with Luci and eventually led him back to Hell, potentially rendering the deal Luci made with dear-old-dad in s1 complete. She may no longer be under God's protection, since He got what he wanted from her and Luci finally did what He wanted. Alternatively (this is what I believe), Ella's point that God doesn't control whether or not bad things happen, but gives people strength through them, might be accurate. Maybe it was Lucifer choosing to protect Chloe all those times that kept her safe. I mean, she has almost died at least once since that deal.
• Chloe was also the subject of the prophecy, and it was in part because of her that evil was unleashed (supposedly). Dozens of people are dead because of the chain of events that began with her working with Fr. Kinley. The man she loves is gone because of it. She nearly poisoned him, and she regrets all of it deeply. The fact that she looked away from Luci's devil face seems to have really weighed on her for the back half of the season, and it resurfaced in the last few minutes of the finale. She's likely going to be grappling with a lot of guilt in season 5, and that's kind of the jumping-off point for my theory/ramblings.
• Maybe the prophecy was self-fulfilling. Maybe not having Lucifer on Earth, helping with crimes and bringing justice to wrongdoers, will be what allows evil to be released.
• Beginning of season 5, I think a few months or even a year will have passed since Lucifer left, and Chloe will have thrown herself into her work, as she does. But it's different because she doesn't have her partne. Luci's just gone, and it's been up to Chloe to explain to everyone where he went. She's got to answer for all the dead bodies in the Mayan, too (because 30+ people don't just die). I think there's going to be a marked difference now in how Chloe behaves, since it's not just a setback; she never expects to see Lucifer again. I think she's going to be different, maybe take one too many risks on a case because she's feeling guilty and hurting. But she is starting to take the first steps toward healing.
• After she's sort of started to let go, she finds something during a case that seems to have something to do with celestials. It’s in a language she doesn’t recognize (but Amenadiel and Maze both do): Lilim. Whatever Chloe finds piques her curiosity enough that it makes her start to doubt the prophecy. Her desire for truth leads her to wondering where the prophecy came from, and at its root, she discovers Lilith (I mean, she was name-dropped a few times this season, and maybe that was intentional). What if she managed to break loose from Hell with the other demons (she would have probably refused to go back, seeing as she’s the mother of demons and the show seemed to have been telling us she’s powerful af in her own right)? Without Lucifer on Earth to keep her in check, what’s stopping her if she decides to wreak havoc across the planet? Maybe Lilith was actually the source of the prophecy, and it was designed to get Lucifer back in Hell and out of the way. Eve was repeatedly cited as being “the first woman”, which leads me to believe that Lilith is not human. Now, this is a stretch, but it could, therefore be possible, that she is either an angel (fallen) or some other species of divine creature, but one that’s been defiled.
• In investigating the Lilith lead, Chloe ends up being attacked and put in a medically induced coma (Schrödinger's death, I guess, where she is both alive and not alive... it was the only thing that seemed to make sense, since she could, in theory, come back from that). She ends up in Hell, and she follows the melancholy sound of an out-of-tune piano to a heavy door standing slightly ajar. She enters and finds herself in Lucifer's penthouse suite, where the man (or Devil, I suppose) sits playing his Steinway. He is her torment. He can't see or hear her (because the guilt of what she did is weighing on her), even though she's right there. She made it all the way to Hell, where her boo is, only for him not to be able to see her.
• The only way she can even communicate with him is by coming to terms with her own guilt over everything that's happened. She'll eventually come to the conclusion that yes, she made mistakes, but she rectified them. She accepted Lucifer, she accepted and admitted her feelings for him, and she voiced her own desires, for once, and asked him to stay. It took her a while, but she came around and went for what she desired. It's the same reason she followed the music. At last, he can see her, and he’s stunned.
• Chloe explains that she’s here because she was investigating a lead about Lilith. She’s escaped. This scares the hell out of Lucifer and he realizes he needs to go back to Earth.
• He saves Chloe, possibly with a feather. And it has the power to heal her, because he’s finally accepted himself as both the Devil and an angel. He’s found peace after sacrificing everything, and he’s able to help heal her. The middle-ish chunk of the season sees Lucifer return to Earth one last time (supposedly) to bring Lilith back to Hell. It’s one last investigation, really. The whole idea is that Lilith is a monster—a perverted celestial—and the only way to deal with her is to bring her back to Hell and keep her trapped just like Mom was for all that time.
• When Lilith returns to Earth, she finds and connects with Maze, who, as much as she wants to hate her, can’t bring herself to. Lilith talks about how horrible Hell was to her, and how it was torment 24/7 for her. She talks about how awful being married to Adam was, and about being under Lucifer in rank. She was his equal, and yet there he sat for millennia on a throne while she suffered. Something, something, and insert talking point about Hell tormenting only those with the greatest guilt. Why does Lilith, tamer of the beasts of the night, feel guilty? Because of how she treated her many many children. She came to Earth to escape that guilt, and because here, mortals treat her like a queen and not like a subordinate.
• The same way that Lucifer took the first steps toward forgiving himself in 4x09, Lilith will now begin to forgive herself for Maze’s sake. If she’s a celestial (again, totally a stretch), maaaaybe this will help her revert to her “perfect” (according to Eve) self.
• Lilith agrees to go back to Hell, but only if Maze comes too. Maze loves the people here, but she finally has a chance to have a relationship with her mother. She can’t pass that up, and so she agrees to accompany Lilith back to Hell.
• Lucifer prepares to leave Chloe a second time, and they have epic hot goodbye sex (I mean…). But Lilith sees how happy they are. She’s never been that happy, but oh damn, wait. She’s a reformed celestial again. She can be queen. She can be with her kids. She can stop being tormented and treated like an inferior. Lilith can rule Hell instead of Lucifer—if he wants.
• If anyone on this show has learned anything at all, it’s that it’s never too late to find peace with yourself, or to become the person you were always meant to be. He forgives himself, he makes peace with the world and with the cosmic. And this all works. The price, perhaps, may be that Lucifer will be mortal. No more Devil face, no more wings, no more mojo. But he gets to live out his days on Earth with Chloe and Trixie (who he adores). During that time, he starts going to therapy again, and he manages to actually make peace with his dad, too. Because dude had his angel wings this whole time; he could have theoretically gone home, he just didn’t think he was worthy of doing so. But this time, when both he and Chloe eventually die (hopefully well into their senior years), they’re both able to enter the Silver City.
That’s it. That’s my theory. It probably won’t happen and it's definitely far-fetched af, but I wanted to share it with this sub anyway because it's an ending that would make my little Deckerstar heart happy.

The Idiot's Guide on How To Tell Your Mischief-Making Archangels Apart
(Yes, His Formerly Infernal Featherbrained Nibs still qualifies, even if he gets all snarly and flame-eyed about it.)
1. Wings
Michael's wings are the color of the night sky, threaded through with stars. He thinks nothing of using a wing to pull his favorite people in for a hug or to show comfort and it drives the Kingsman tailors absolutely bonkers how he manages to do that without ruining the suit.
Roxy Morton has a necklace with a feather in it. Michael will always know where his goddaughter is and if she is ever in danger that even a Knight of Kingsman cannot get out of, he will always know where to find and help her.
He's already lost one Lancelot; he won't have that happening again.
Yes, he's done the same with his remaining Kingsman family - Eggsy, Harry and even little Daisy.
***
Lucifer's wings, of course, help explain his name. They are silver white and they glow... sometimes.
(They didn't really glow in his time in Hell.)
Chloe has figured out that they glow especially bright when she kisses him, when she makes him laugh, when she does all the little ordinary human things that let him know he's loved. She's seen them fold gently around Trixie when she pounces on him for a hug, soft and sunbright.
Lucifer used to hate his wings with a passion, believing them to be chains, to be manipulations of his Father.
He stopped when he realized that he couldn't have saved his beloved Chloe without them.
2. Glasses
Michael has had twenty years of living among humans, unaware of what he used to be. The glasses weren't only just something he adopted because of Kingsman. He's always been aware that something about his direct gaze unnerves people.
It's the reason why Harry lets him handle interrogations, when they work together on mission. The first time Michael had consciously tried it was somewhat hilarious and terrifying at the same time. The poor idiot started confessing all his sins, even back to a schoolboy panty-stealing prank.
He likes wearing them now and has a pair that are decidedly non-Kingsman issue.
Predictably, his twin rolled his eyes upon hearing the comment from Ella Lopez: "He looks like Lucifer doing a Clark Kent cosplay. So cute!"
Michael couldn't help laughing when it was the good Detective Chloe who then chimed in with a: "Y'know, Christopher Reeve as Clark Kent was my childhood crush. There's just something about Tall, Dark, Handsome and Adorkable in Glasses."
Yeah, that last one definitely made Lucifer grumpy (read: jealous). Although he did brighten up considerably when Chloe later pointed out that HE was adorkable as well. At least until the inevitable: "I am NOT Adorkable!"
"Keep telling yourself that, Lucifer," was Chloe's response, along with a kiss.
Yeah, game, set and match once again went to Detective Chloe Decker.
3. Instruments
The Twins, of course, play all musical instruments. And they can do that pretty well.
One of them prefers the piano. It's totally not the one with the penchant for drama, guyliner and sinfully fitted suits.
Right. If you believe that, we've got a bridge in New York to sell you.
These days, there's a certain sense of sheer enjoyment when Lucifer plays the piano at Lux, especially when he chooses to sing along. It helps when a certain blonde detective is in the audience, unwinding after a long day at work. His Formerly Infernal Featherbrained Nibs will probably make some innuendo-filled comment about Chloe and inspiration at this point and Chloe will probably roll her eyes at him, but this time, the exasperation is fond and loving and he soaks that all up blissfully.
And of course, Michael prefers the guitar. While London is his home, the fact that he has wings and has finally re-discovered the ability to "hop" from one country to another, means that he can always visit his twin in L.A. when he wants.
Of course, these days, he's far more welcome than Amenadiel, who can still, on occasion, get on Lucifer's last nerve.
When the Twins choose to play together, guitar and piano, and voices raised in harmony, it's magic.
4. Opinions
Michael's nature is as the Father made him. He protects and defends. There are many dreadful and evil things that are out there, far beyond human ken and it is Michael who will face them head on.
But Michael also helps protect and defend in spiritual battles. His is the name that believers will invoke when they face the darkness in their souls. He can't wage those battles on his own, of course, because every person has to do that themselves. But he is the one who is the shield at their back, who whispers of courage and hope and strength.
Michael fell in love, truly in love, with humanity first.
He remembers sharing the Father's excitement at this new life, that did have a spark of the divine but was still so fragile and all the more precious because of it.
And that is why Michael had been furious with his twin at his rebellion. Samael's arrogance and presumption. His selfishness and self-centeredness. The way he'd opened humankind's eyes to good and evil, before he thought they could be ready for it. The way that he had envied humanity's place in their Father's heart, his initial disgust and disdain of them.
Michael had been angry. He'd been angry at Samael.
And yes, Michael was angry at himself. He was angry over the Fall and the loss of Samael... now Lucifer, to Hell and the fact that he couldn't protect his Twin. Not in this.
Although in the deepest part of his Self, Michael knows that if it were left to him, he would have left humanity forever innocent of such things. They would never have grown if Samael had not dared their Father's wrath. They would never have changed and been what they were now, beautifully imperfect and capable of great things, both terrible and good.
Michael remembers quietly listening at the feet of a Certain Jewish carpenter, who also happened to like telling stories. The story that has stayed with him is the one of the Prodigal, the son who had foolishly squandered his Father's gifts and returned shamed and sorry, but still welcomed by his parent with love, joy and acceptance.
Michael remembers weeping afterwards and the Storyteller did come to him, held his hand and brushed away his tears in gentle comfort. "Brother, why do you weep?"
"Because. I do not want to be the firstborn son," Michael finds himself blurting out. "I love my brother. I still love him. And I failed him."
(As we know, it is very difficult to lie to the Storyteller. Even if one happens to be an Archangel.)
The firstborn son, the one who had stayed with the Father, who had been dutiful and obedient. Michael isn't the firstborn in the family, but he looks at his own Self and realizes his own failings. Sees himself in that firstborn son of the story. He doesn't want to be like that - resentful, proud and jealous. Self-righteous. Unforgiving. Unyielding.
He doesn't want to be the one to hold his brother down again, weapon at his throat, filled with wrath.
"Then don't be like that," the Storyteller tells him with an affectionate smile. "Love your brother. He is lost... but he will be found, someday. Welcome him home. Be happy for him."
Michael listened and kept that lesson close to his heart.
5. Style
"Well obviously, I get the style points in this family. Amenadiel has made some truly unfortunate sartorial choices and well... the only one who comes closest could be my twin, that is, if he'd only be convinced to remove that tie."
"Excuse me?"
"Amenadiel, if you're tired of walking around in that dreadful hoodie and jeans combination, please let me know so I can schedule an appointment for you with my tailor."
"I happen to own a very nice three piece, Luci. Even Linda -- "
"Yes, dear elder brother, do finish that sentence. I'm all ears!"
"This tie hides a garotte in it that I can use in a pinch."
"Oooh, do you have any other interesting toys, twin?"
"Got a lighter that I can use as a grenade? And this suit is bulletproof."
"..."
"Michael, you're supposed to be the SENSIBLE twin, please do not encourage Lucifer."
"Mmmm.... Lucifer likes."
Obviously, His Formerly Infernal Featherbrained Nibs ending up getting bespoke bulletproof Kingsman suits for Christmas. While he still disdained ties, the novelty of being bulletproof around Chloe when they were off crime-fighting together was too good to pass up.
- end -
Notes:
Look, I'm really, really, REALLY tired of all the "Michael-is-a-douche" stories that I keep stumbling on to in fandom. He's my favorite Archangel. So... hey, if I can't get the story I want to read, I guess I have to tell it myself. Eeek?
Michael did the tailoring for Luci's Kingsman suits himself, with some help from Eggsy and Harry.
No, Luci is not allowed to get a Kingsman lighter grenade.

eventually found it streaming rather than downloading, would not recommend but HEY IT WORKS (for now) [http://gorillavid.in/zbtu97hfei65]
this feels like it’s 2008 all over again, trying to watch doctor who after school
OKAY LET’S GO
i’ve seen a bunch of major spoilers but i know cas doesn’t die so i’m good. apparently it’s A Boring Episode but also MICHEAL and LUCIFER so
idk idk let’s just watch the thing and find out what happens
-
04:04
rowena: is there, i dunno, music? CARRY ON MYY WAYWAR---
fuck
-
04:09pm
feels good having bobby there
Tumblr media
-
BOBBY’S REACTION TO TRUMP IS THE BEST EVER
“and you call where WE come from ‘apocalypse world’?”
-
04:11
cas: “they’re talking about whether kylie jenner would make a good mother. consensus is no”
hey give her a chance
i mean i know nothing about her but she seems... teachable?
-
dean: “yeah well, that’s why i’m a chloe man”
WHOOOOOP dean loves his girly trash tv i see
-
brown werewolf: “now that is why i’m a chloe man”
dead brown person alert :|
how naive i was to think he might be left alive because he got a speaking line and made himself a dean parallel with that single line
-
04:16
mary: “do you really like the rain?”
bobby: “when it’s this beautiful, i do”
lest anyone forget bobby is a gentle down to earth sweetheart
soft papa bear
-
“rowena and charlie are road-tripping it through the south-west”
WOULD WATCH THAT SPINOFF
but #savewaywardsisters first
-
04:19
dean: “can you imagine? you, me, cas, toes in the sand, couple of those little umbrella drinks, matching hawaiian shirts, obviously”
PLEASE
“....some hula girls“
mmmm *squints at how that part was said after a....... pause, off-screen with the camera on sam*
-
04:24
dean to jack: “it’s not about being strong....... i don’t know what you went through over there... but i know you came out the other side. because you ARE strong”
good papa dean words
much love for him and his emotional avaliability
-
04:26
dean: “whatever you’re dealing with, whatever comes at us, we’ll figure out a way to deal with it. together. we’re family, kid”
sam said it to dean, dean said it to jack
i guess the next step is ...jack saying it to cas?? SOMEONE’s gotta say it to cas
but also WOOOO DEAN’S CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT REGARDING JACK SINCE THE START OF THE SEASON
-
04:32
Tumblr media
um
is it just me or is this a seriously unfortunate racist-looking coincidence
desperately hoping this wasn’t the guy who killed maggie
(i don’t think it is, which means maybe this is a “don’t jump to conclusions” kind of storyline which has a race-relations subtext??? i wish it meant nothing besides jack’s need to protect others, but given the lack of living characters of colour on this show, the minute a person of colour shows up, it BECOMES about the fact they’re not white, bECAUSE they always die, invariably)
anyway, my point is: this is problematic
also the red shirt. as in “red shirts always die” ??
edit: thank goodness....... RED HERRING
-
Tumblr media
“3 sheeps” poster in the background
i remember this symbolism from something earlier but can’t remember exactly what
i’m thinking lambs to the slaughter, or being part of a flock, or being herded into something they’re wrong about, being naive, following each other one by one into the unknown
wow reading tarot has improved my “make a list of all the obvious symbolism” skills
-
04:39
Tumblr media
the fact cas is suffering with the angel language whistle is interesting?? i thought it hurts dean because he can’t understand it
which means.......cas isn’t understanding this noise?
or maybe he is understanding, it’s just real loud
-
04:42
enjoying sam being protective of cas
Tumblr media
-
lucifer: ........”the three amigos.... sam, dean, and the other one”
that’s probably how a lot of people see team free will tbh
how sad
-
lucifer: “you want a lightsaber?”
jack:
vroom
Tumblr media
we mAY HAVE LONG SAID HE’S TOO PRECIOUS FOR THIS WORLD BUT WE NEVER MEANT FOR HIM TO LEAVE
-
04:50
Tumblr media
that awkward moment when you’re trying to solve a murder and your adorable magic grandson comes home with the devil
:o
-
the face you make when the devil makes an ableist joke about your son and then says “no offence”
Tumblr media
(the ”i would murder you but there’s enough dead bodies in here right now” face)
-
04:56
maggie: “kinda seems like you have... you know, bigger.... satan-y... problems”
Tumblr media
bless this girl
-
05:00
dean: “as shakespeare once said: eat me, dick-bag”
tbh shakespeare probably did say that at one point or another
add shakespeare to the list of dean’s bisexual heroes
(follow up thought: what if when cas could time-travel, he and dean and sam went to go explore shakespeare’s town and dean made.... Friends)
-
05:04
lucifer’s talking to jack about their future space travels
i mean i think it’s fairly obvious, lucifer was the one who killed maggie, so he could bring her back and impress jack
maggie said “i didn’t see their face but i saw their eyes” and that means it was either lucifer or michael with the glowing eyes, and micheal said to dean “you’ll be the first life i take in this world” which leaves lucifer
stinking nasty manipulative trash angel
-
05;07
micheal, while strangling dean: “could’ve done this quick, but i wanted to enjoy it, that moment when the soul leaves the body”
yeeeah okay sure, speak aloud your reasons you’re stalling for time while jack figures out how to get back
-
05:10
jack to lucifer: “you’re not my father. you monster”
HUZZAH
-
for the record i’m... reaLLY ENJOYING THIS episode so far
it’s all big and mighty and magical but the core of the story is a boy trying to find his family and figure out the truth behind his manipulative father
i’m so glad it led to this because i am HERE for this kind of story
the world hangs in the balance, but it’s not dean, cas and sam trying to save everyone, it’s jack trying to find his place among loved ones, and by following his desire to help people he’s learning what he needs to know
i fucking love this okay
-
05:14
lucifer: i just need your power--
Tumblr media
OH NO I SPOKE TOO SOON
OH NO
-
05:17
michael: “this is the end. of everything”
Tumblr media
I SEE DEAN’S COGS WHIRRING AND I WORRY
nine years of not saying yes to micheal and now it’s happening isn’t it
-
05:20
jack’s pained little whimper :c :c :c
-
05:21
dean: “i am your sword”
CHILLS
-
05:22
dean: “CAS I DON’T HAVE A CHOICE”
cas: D:
Tumblr media
PERFECT MOMENT FOR AN AGGRESSIVE KISS but nope that would be too much like goodbye
-
05:24
third option rather than sam or jack trying to kill each other: they pick up lucifer’s blade and kill lucifer with it
-
05:26
WHAT
NO
??????
BAD IDEA????
Tumblr media
JUST STAB LUCIFER????
-
jack:  i love you
NOO ;;A;A;A;A;A;A;A;;A;A
DJSGJD
I’M NOT ENJOYING THIS 0/10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
PLEASE STOP
-
05:27
WELL FUCK
Tumblr media
hi there
WHHHOOOOOOO
Tumblr media
meanwhile back at the bunker: cas has the weirdest traumatic boner
-
05:29
THE WINGS KEEP GETTING BIGGER
Tumblr media
-
05:31
Tumblr media
interesting angel flying physics here
dean flails while sailing slowly backwards
i mean i know he’s on a suspension wire but technically waving his arms about ought to affect his position
-
05:33
Tumblr media
LITERALLY SAM COULD’VE DONE THAT TO BEGIN WITH
WHAT EVEN WAS THE POINT OF THIS
HE COULD’VE ACTED LIKE HE WAS ABOUT TO STAB JACK AND THEN GO WHOOSH AND STAB LUCIFER
SAM HAS FUCKING NOODLE ARMS HE COULD’VE DONE IT WITH HIS EYES CLOSED
JEEZ
-
05:35
okay but i’m laughing right now
Tumblr media
are you telling me this is what happens if lucifer accidentally trips and falls on his knife
where did that golden blade come from anyway
has lucifer just been carrying it around this whole time?
COULD ANYONE HAVE PICKPOCKETED THAT KNIFE AND STABBY STABBY >>> EXPLODING FLYING FLAME DEVIL ??
WHAT BRAIN CELLS WAS LUCIFER MISSING TO HAND THAT BLADE TO SAM WINCHESTER IN THE FIRST PLACE
OR GO INTO BATTLE WITH MICHAEL WITHOUT THE KNIFE
OR TO HAVE THAT BLADE ON HAND IN THE FIRST PLACE ??????????
I’m sorry i just find this hilarious
i mean good fucking riddance to this trash angel but wow what a way to get there
all of this was so easily avoidable ?? i seriously don’t understand what possessed sam to think “aw yeah let’s pick up this magic devil blade to KILL MY OWN SON and/or HAND IT TO HIM SO HE CAN KILL ME” instead of “umMMM the devil just gave me a magic knife and is trying to tell us to kill each other maybe we should kill him with it”
I HOPE SOMEONE IN THE WRITER’S ROOM HAS A REALLY GOOD EXPLANATION FOR THIS
-
05:45
HAPPY RELIEVED SAMMY
Tumblr media
why do i feel like everything’s about to go terribly terribly wrong, worse than before
-
05:48
Tumblr media
i mean micheal!dean looks good though
despite everything i think dean would approve of the outfit
-
like he actually looks a little bit TOO attractive
definitely not to be trusted
you know when people just look TOO handsome and shiny and perfect and they’re TOO charming and you know something’s up
this guy’s got danger written all over him in sleek & elegant calligraphy
-
05:50pm
mmmmmmmmm okay, it’s over
i liked it ?
felt old-school, kinda like a buffy episode or an x-files episode
things i’m happy about: everyone lived and lucifer died!! this is a pretty cool progression of events and i’m interested to see where it goes (not EXCITED, i’m not EAGER, but i am interested). that black dude was not the one who killed maggie. maggie survived!!!
things i’m not thrilled about: the fact sam didn’t just stab lucifer in the face when he was right next to him holding the magic knife?????? i don’t get it and i don’t think any kind of meta is actually gonna be able to explain how ~UM EXCUSE ME JUST ONE SECOND~esque that moment was
no bechdel test pass
jack’s personal arc this season was great and i love him
as always, this show is riveting to me only because i care so much about the characters, and i cannot tELL YOu how fucking pleased i am that this show’s universe is now a universe where bobby, charlie, mary, rowena, dean, cas, sam, jack, jody, donna, claire, the other wayward girls, and billie ALL EXIST AND ARE ALIVE
seriously could’ve done with some kevin too, i’m still bummed that he’s died TWICE now and isn’t back permanently yet
but HOLY SHIT THE REST OF THEM ARE ALL ALIVE
GIVE ME A TEAM-FREE-WILL-MAJOR SEASON WITH ALL THE SQUAD ALIVE AND KICKING ASS AS A GROUP
like... save dean as a group, then one by one discover that dean and cas have been locked in a room without clothes for three days, then save the world and retire forever as a happy, healthy hunter squad with their gay dads
FUCK YEAH
overall, this episode is maybe a 9/10 just because that FUCKING KNIFE man. i dunno what to think about that.
like .........why
i also want cas to have a season arc!!! a positive one!!! where he actually accepts love and expresses affection and receives AUDIBLE AND VISIBLE AND TANGIBLE affection from others!!!
and for fuck’s sakes stop killing people of colour, give us more women of colour who are good and don’t die, pass the bechdel test more often
AND ABOVE ALL GIVE US WAYWARD SISTERS I WANT THAT SHOW SO BADLY AND EVERYTHING IT REPRESENTS
IT WOULD FILL IN ALL THE GAPS THAT ARE MISSING FROM THIS SHOW
PLEASE

Chloe Decker and the Heir of Merlin [Lucifer/Harry Potter]
Happy Deckerstar Summer Exchange to @kirayukimuras! I was intending this to be longer, but then summer turned insane... alas. Anyway, yes, the promised Deckerstar Harry Potter AU. (I have to tag @lightbringersamael for reasons, since we invented the details of this verse together.) Enjoy!
The choking grit of stone and smoke and dust, the burnt-ozone afterglare of spells, the pale, tremulous sunlight of the first day of the rest of everyone’s lives, bear down on Chloe Decker’s shoulders as she wades through the rubble of the courtyard. Hogwarts is blasted and broken, but still standing, still standing, and Voldemort is dead. It sounds like a dream, it sounds like a trick, he’ll spring up and order the battle resumed – but he doesn’t. It’s going to take a while for everyone to believe it. And yet just now, as the recovery of bodies continues, Chloe has only one thought – and one fear.
They said they last saw him around here, dueling his mother. There’s a particularly deep crater that could have been made by a giant, or a curse, or – Chloe’s breath catches painfully in her chest, she stuffs her wand in the filthy sleeve of her robes so she can have both hands for climbing. Reaches the spot, and looks down.
“Lucifer?”
There’s nothing. No sign. The broken rock shifts, and falls.
“Maze?” Chloe coughs, looks around for Lucifer’s best friend, his loyal shadow, co-leader of the “cool Slytherins,” the two of them among the few from their house who stayed back to fight. But then, Lucifer has been pushing the Carrows’ buttons all year, and Chloe doesn’t want to believe half the whispers about what they were doing to him – scion of the anciently pureblood Morningstars, who claim to trace their descent from Merlin himself, Lucifer’s defiance is unfathomable to them. They will have him or break him or both. When Chloe thinks of the bright-eyed, eleven-year-old boy named Samael, who she met just five years ago, wonders how they can only be sixteen with everything that has happened to them, everything they have done and not said, it makes something close to agony rise in her chest. He has to be here. He has to be somewhere.
“LUCIFER!”
Her shouts rings away across the blasted towers of Hogwarts without an answer.
Chloe takes out her wand again and starts levitating the rubble – it would be quicker to just Reducto her way through this, but she can’t take the risk of hitting him if he’s somewhere under there, grievously wounded and unconscious but still alive. If Harry can survive, why can’t he? She knows that Potter, a year ahead of her in Gryffindor, the captain of her Quidditch team, more or less a friend, is special, the Boy Who Lived – no one else is getting hit by Avada Kedavra once, let alone twice, and living to tell the tale. Surely Charlotte Morningstar, devoted Death Eater as she might otherwise be, isn’t killing her own son. Chloe can’t give up.
Swish and flick, she thinks, remembering first-year Charms classes. Swish and flick. Up go the pieces. There is spell damage everywhere. Whoever was fighting here was unleashing advanced and esoteric curses – far beyond O.W.L., possibly even beyond N.E.W.T., and Lucifer always did like to push boundaries, refine technique. Got detention at least a dozen times for being caught by Filch in the Restricted Section. None of it ever stopped him. Very little ever did – does. He is one of the most talented, and potentially deadly dangerous, wizards that Hogwarts has ever taught. Chloe knows there will be absolutely no tears shed if he’s discovered dead, if they’ve gotten a two-for-one special, taken down both You-Know-Who and a likely heir to the throne. That’s not Lucifer, that’s not the Lucifer she knows, who hates his insanely wealthy Slytherin family and the Dark Arts and everything they’ve chosen to be after they cast him out, but it’s hard to see past. He hasn’t made it any easier.
There’s only one block remaining to be moved. The rest of the castle is still being searched. This doesn’t have to be the last chance, but it feels like it.
Chloe’s voice comes out as a hoarse whisper. “Wingardium Leviosa.”
The heavy stone floats aside like a feather.
There’s nothing below but scorch marks.
Chloe’s breath feels driven out of her as if she’s taken an Impediment Jinx directly to the chest. She goes to her knees, staring down at the soot-stained tomb, knowing that is what it is, that Lucifer is dead, he is dead, and she is never going to see him again. The Ministry can breathe their sigh of relief. The peace can start. This is the happy ending.
Chloe remains where she is, not moving, until she can hear voices calling for her. Dan and Ella, by the sounds of things. They stayed to fight with the Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws, respectively, and all three of them have spent quite a while living in the Room of Requirement with the other remnants of Dumbledore’s Army. Dan never understood, to say the least, Chloe’s friendship with Lucifer. Ella was more inclined to give him a chance (then again, Ella and Luna Lovegood are good friends, so that’s just Ella). And now Chloe gets to tell them. Has to tell them, and herself, and make it real.
“He’s dead,” she says aloud, and stands up, as Dan and Ella come clambering over the stones. “Lucifer’s dead.”
Chloe Decker was probably supposed to go to Ilvermorny.
Her parents are American – John, a wizard in Magical Homicide and Major Crimes at MACUSA, and Penelope, a Muggle B-movie actress. (Nobody actually calls them “no-majs” – it’s dated Depression-era slang, and if you’re feeling annoyed with the Brits, it’s “muns” or “plebs,” or – if you’re an angry young wizard of certain political leanings, “sheeple,” all of which makes you fairly indistinguishable from the rest of those biting their thumb at the Man.) But when Chloe is nine, John is transferred to the Department of Magical Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Magic in London, and it becomes a permanent position. Thus when Chloe turns eleven, she receives her Hogwarts letter just like the other young wizards and witches across the country, and of course she wants to go.
Her parents take a little while to be convinced. Penelope wants her to keep up with her Muggle school – she isn’t sure about the British system, the way you go into the magical world and never come out. No more math or English or any of that? The Statute of Secrecy does technically exist in America, but it’s treated much more as guidelines than actual rules – as long as you aren’t being baldly conspicuous, nobody really cares, and many magical children continue attending ordinary schools while being instructed in wizardry at home. Hogwarts is undoubtedly prestigious and English, like Oxford or Cambridge, but it, well, it’s a commitment. Are they going to send Chloe away for seven years and get some impeccably well-trained witch back, who knows Gamp’s Five Laws of Elemental Transfiguration by heart but can’t boil water or pay her gas bill without magic? Besides, British wizard society is so snobbish. They will look down on Chloe for being an American half-blood (Americans aren’t snobbish about the difference between magic and non-magic folk, they’re just ordinarily racist.) Is she sure?
Chloe is eleven. All her magical friends here have been anticipating their Hogwarts letters from the moment they got their first toy broomsticks. She isn’t trudging off to some dismal cement-brick secondary school in Clapham while they’re off to buy wands in Diagon Alley and ride the Hogwarts Express to an ancient, enchanted castle. Of course she’s sure.
Penelope gives in, with the caveat that Chloe continue a Muggle curriculum over the holidays. Chloe promises, with no actual intention to waste perfectly good holidays with more school. Her father takes her into London to buy her school things, and it’s there that she first meets Samael Morningstar.
If everything that Penelope was afraid of in the magical world had a face, it would be the Morningstars. They are possibly the most senior of the Sacred Twenty-Eight pureblood families – vastly wealthy, reclusive, powerful, and not inclined to mingle or trifle with the common folk. The father of the current generation, Deus, has been missing for years – there are all kinds of rumors about his absence. Some of the more lurid hold that he is serving multiple life sentences in Azkaban, but the most accepted story is that he was killed by a Muggle mob some years ago.
This is a source of immense shame to his widow, Charlotte, who has raised their nine children – Amenadiel, Michael, Azrael, Sariel, Raphael, Gabriel, Barachiel, Samael, and Uriel – by herself (and of course with the help of various house-elves and servants). All of them have been in Slytherin except Sariel, who ended up in Ravenclaw, and Gabriel, who was placed to much shock and horror in Hufflepuff. Amenadiel and Michael have left school; the twins Azrael and Sariel are sixth years, and there’s one down the list until the latest one, young Samael, due to start this year. The Morningstars are, in the opinion of their circle, what the Weasleys would be if the Weasleys had blood pride. There’s always another one of them, in other words, and everyone recognizes them. Except, of course, for Chloe. She has no reason to think that the small dark-haired boy, who she glimpses in Madame Malkin’s and Flourish and Blotts and then in Ollivanders, being shepherded by his statuesque, beautiful, but extremely intense blonde mother, is anyone special at all.
They manage to introduce themselves to each other quickly in Ollivander’s (the old man thinks it’s curious whenever two young witches or wizards come in to buy their wands together – binds them from the start, perhaps?) before their parents escort them off, both looking somewhat askance at the other. Finally, as he hugs his daughter on Platform 9 ¾, the train venting steam and ready to leave, John tells her quietly to be careful around the Morningstars. He’d just feel better if she did.
Chloe humors her father, is kissed by her mother, and then spends the entire ride to school in a compartment with Samael – or, as he tells her to call him, Sam – because he doesn’t want to sit with his older siblings, and no one else wants one of them hanging around causing trouble. Chloe thinks he’s nice, if clearly unused to interacting with normal people, but things take a turn for the unfortunate at the Sorting that evening. It’s gone along ordinarily enough (“Decker, Chloe” – “GRYFFINDOR!”, “Espinoza, Daniel” – “HUFFLEPUFF!”) But right after “Lopez, Ella,” becomes a Ravenclaw, “Morningstar, Samael,” is called up to the stool – and doesn’t even get the Hat on his head before it starts screaming “SLYTHERIN!” at the top of its lungs, and doesn’t seem able to recover for several minutes. It finally manages to finish (“Smith, Mazikeen” doesn’t quite send the Hat over the edge, though she also ends up in Slytherin PDQ) but that, to say the least, was a noticeable way to begin.
Things get worse when the Chamber of Secrets is opened and Muggle-borns are attacked. Half the school thinks the Heir of Slytherin is Harry Potter, and the other half is more than convinced that it’s Sam Morningstar, given the Hat’s gibbering meltdown over him at the Welcoming Feast. Chloe doesn’t think it’s either. She and Sam aren’t exactly friends, especially given the rivalry between their houses, but they manage to remain on more or less cordial terms, even throughout the difficult year. Chloe very much doesn’t want Hogwarts closed. She just got here – she doesn’t want to have to up and leave.
(Harry Potter saves the day, as it turns out, Harry Potter does.)
Sam Morningstar almost doesn’t return for his second year, feeling marked out by the events of the first, but in the end, he does. He does not make sense to most people. He is a brilliant student who never seems to pick up a book, enjoys the preferential treatment that as a Slytherin, he is given by Snape – and then talks back to the Potions master when he bullies Chloe. He forges an unexpected relationship with Remus Lupin, where he occasionally stumbles across his cohort in suspected Chamber of Secrets crime. He and Harry seem as opposite as it is possible to get, but two black-haired boys with strange pasts and stranger presents, about whom a touch of destiny clings – perhaps not so much.
(Remus Lupin resigns at the end of that year, and Sam’s waning faith in father figures just about disappears for good.)
Third year is Triwizard year. Fourth years and below are not, of course, permitted to attend the Yule Ball, but Sam contrives to get himself asked by a Ravenclaw seventh-year, Linda Martin, with whom he’s formed a certain friendship. They dance a few times, but he spends most of the night after that staring at Chloe Decker, who was asked by that absolute prat, the Gryffindor fifth-year Marcus Pierce. They’re – well, they’re friends by now, somehow still ignoring the ever-present Gryffindor/Slytherin divide, and frankly, if all was fair, he would have asked her. Or so he tells himself. He’s not nearly as self-assured around her (American half-blood, his friends say incredulously, where are your standards, Samael?) as he’d like.
Then Cedric Diggory is killed, and Voldemort returns, and petty considerations like the Yule Ball don’t matter anymore.
Samael gets kicked out of the house – and for that matter, changes his name to Lucifer – in the summer before fourth year, when his mother insists that he prepare to uphold the Morningstar name with the Death Eaters. He refuses point-blank. There’s a flaming row, and she orders him to leave until he comes to his senses. He ends up in the Leaky Cauldron, tending bar and clearing tables for Tom, for most of the rest of the summer. None of his siblings lift a finger to help him – not even Azrael, his favorite sister, who’s graduated from Hogwarts and gone abroad – and his resentment burns to the core. He grows a foot and changes his name and is barely recognizable when he gets back to school that fall, Professor Dolores Umbridge has inflicted her delightful self on the place, and Lucifer Morningstar is well and truly born.
“You need to stop acting like this,” Chloe tells him, in one of the rare moments she can get through to him – after another party, another bout of rule-breaking, lashing out at every single stupid Educational Decree there is, prevented from losing Slytherin too many points because the Inquisitorial Squad are all merciless suck-ups, and won’t dock their own house just because Lucifer is an idiot. “Samael – ”
She sees the look on his face, and catches herself. “Lucifer.” It’s clear she still can’t get her mouth around the name, her mind around the idea that this angry young man is the boy she first met. “Lucifer, I’m serious, I think she’ll really hurt you.”
Lucifer laughs. Ignores her. Blows her off, because of course he does. Looks down, later, at the words etched shining across the back of his hand.
I must not tell lies.
And thinks that the old bat need not have bothered with that, because oh no, he does not tell lies. He is starting to think he’s the only one.
(At the end of the year, when everyone sees Voldemort in the Ministry, when they accept at last that he is back, when Harry Potter is the hero again, Lucifer thinks he could have bloody well told them so.)
Fifth year, and Uriel Morningstar, who started Hogwarts last year, is desperate for his brother to pay attention to him. Wants to be part of Lucifer and Maze’s crowd, the cool Slytherins, but all Lucifer does is ignore, dismiss, or deride him. And yet, he pays ridiculous attention to that American half-blood, the Gryffindor, Chloe Decker. Everything she says, Lucifer hangs on. Has gotten more oddly protective of her than ever, their relationship odd and undefined and not quite more than friends, but not that either. Dan Espinoza, that gormless Hufflepuff, has been hanging around her as well, as if there needs to be any more proof of how low Lucifer has set his standards.
Uriel is the good son, the one who actually wants to do what he’s supposed to, for his mother to notice him – not just Lucifer, always Lucifer, even though he’s rejected the family and broken her heart. His brother was always the favorite, and finally, on the night the Death Eaters attack the school, as upon the lightning-struck tower, Albus Dumbledore meets his end, as there is fighting in the corridors, Uriel seizes his chance.
He darts around a corner, hides in the chaos. Pulls out his wand, points it at Chloe’s back. Remembers that you have to mean Unforgivable Curses. And thinks that he does, in fact, very much mean this one.
“Avada Kedavra!”
He is still a second-year, small and undersized, and as much as he thinks he has what it takes to kill, all that results is a weak scatter of green sparks. He braces himself to try again.
Then he glances up, sees his older brother running for him like a madman, sees the look of sheer, consuming terror on Lucifer’s face, sees Lucifer raise his wand, and then he doesn’t see anything else, ever again.
Sixth year is a strange, slow, shattered sort of hell.
Hogwarts is barely Hogwarts. Harry Potter and his friends, Weasley and Granger, are gone, rumored to be carrying out Dumbledore’s secret mission, but nobody has any idea what that is. The Death Eaters run the place with an iron fist, Snape is Headmaster, detention involves practicing the Cruciatus Curse on first-years, and Lucifer will not talk to Chloe, no matter how hard she tries. She is worried sick about him, and yet she can’t understand why she hasn’t been called in for questioning about her blood status. She’s well aware that she should be among the first to go, but the Death Eaters oddly seem to overlook it, or at least not care. (Which is, of course, most unlike them.)
Lucifer has odd injuries, strange actions. Chloe supposes he’s trying to distance himself from her to protect her – but she thinks the Carrows are torturing him, worse even than Neville Longbottom, the purebloods who won’t give in even when they should be the first in line to welcome the new regime. Chloe was in Dumbledore’s Army in fourth year with Dan and Ella; they try to protect the younger kids as best they can, but they’re all wondering how much longer they can take this. Disappearances are daily. Most of them don’t come back. The Daily Prophet is printing lies, the Ministry is a mouthpiece of the Dark Lord, and finally that night, the last battle, the final showdown, when Harry Potter returns and the castle makes its stand, before the bombardment starts –
Chloe and Lucifer lock eyes, across from where they’re standing. Nobody was sure they should let Lucifer stay behind at all, but Minerva McGonagall insisted that he had earned it.
Chloe feels, then, the weight of everything they have not said, everything they have kept silent, kept apart. He told her that his brother Uriel died in the castle attack last year, she knows he must be upset about that, and yet, on the eve of everything ending, she would give anything for one of those smashed Time Turners in the depths of the Department of Mysteries. Wants to turn it back, wants, somehow, to start again. To even have the chance.
Then the Death Eaters’ spells begin hitting the shield, and it is gone.
In the years after the Battle of Hogwarts, Chloe does her best to get on with her life, somehow. She returns to the rebuilt castle to finish her seventh year. She graduates with high N.E.W.Ts, starts dating Dan, and they get married and have a daughter, Beatrice. She takes a job as an Auror at the Ministry, under her old classmate, Harry, and one day, finds her own file. It’s been altered. Her blood status was changed from “half-blood” to “pure-blood,” and she has no idea why. But that must be the reason she was protected during that last, hellish year at Hogwarts under the Death Eaters. Lucifer changed it somehow.
God, she misses him. She takes all sorts of strange and difficult cases, rounding up the remnants of Voldemort’s followers. Has to remind herself that Lucifer is dead, because otherwise she’ll get an odd sort of sensation that she’ll turn around and see him. No sign of Maze, either; they got to be an odd sort of friends at the end, but Maze must have died as well. That’s it. They’re both dead. Gone.
(It’s hard to grieve without a body, without a final confirmation. It’s hard for the human mind to close a door, when the whispering always remains, the slightest chance.)
She and Dan both work hard. Too hard, probably, and things are more and more on the rocks, to which Chloe responds by burying herself in more work. There’s an explosive argument one night, Dan saying that he’s sorry he can’t be Morningstar for her, everyone at Hogwarts knew they had eyes for each other, they were in love, it would have been different if Lucifer lived. Chloe’s shocked, but she also can’t manage to deny it; she’s spent one too many nights alone with the memories. Dan sees it in her eyes, and something goes out of him.
They try to keep it cordial for Trixie. They still have to see each other at work. Chloe can’t imagine that this is ever going to stop, or change, or be different.
Finally, Harry knocks on Chloe’s door one day. Says he has something he wants her to check out. Some kind of tavern in Knockturn Alley, called Lux. Someone there who makes deals, this favor for that, this rare item for another, breaks artifact laws or at least soundly bends them, the sort of person that would make Percy Weasley break out in hives from a mile off. Rumored to have returned to the country after many years away, studying even obscurer and deeper magic. Wants her to have a quick visit, and see if this bloke is any kind of threat.
(There might be a strange look in Harry’s eyes, but Chloe misses it.)
And so, she walks down to Knockturn Alley that night, wand in her sleeve, Auror badge clipped under her robe, grim and set and ready to get this over with. Finds the place easily enough, ducks in. Despite its name, Lux is dim, lit by bobbing enchanted orbs, a rougher clientele than the Leaky Cauldron sipping exotic libations, watching her with beady eyes. Even with an effort made to scuff up, it’s fairly clear she doesn’t belong here.
Piano music drifts from the back of the house. A tall shadow bends over it, playing intently, and something in Chloe seizes up so hard she can’t breathe. Can’t think. Can’t hope.
The music stops. The man looks up.
“Hello, Detective,” Lucifer Morningstar says, and smiles. “It’s been a very long time.”

Lucifer 3x03 Mr and Mrs Smith The 5th File - Gaudium
At the end of 3x03 episode, Mr and Mrs Mazikeen Smith, there was a figure archiving Maze’s latest adventures in a place which looked a lot like the precinct.
The files were:
Lucifer Morningstar Mazakeen of the Lilim  Amenadiel / Dr Canaan Charlote Richards Gaudium
Tumblr media
As we can guess someone is keeping tabs on them since Season One and the broad shoulders with the precaution of gloves might hint Pierce. Still were and should not be sure it was him just yet.
Now back to the Gaudium. Many after the Canadien airing asked me if it was a thing because they could only find the Latin translation of the world which is joy/pleasure. This is not good by the way... It’s something dark and very dangerous.
For the ones who went to Sunday School or you might be an avid fan of the Catholic dogma, not me but you get the drift, you might know Gaudium as the term used for one of the internal sins.
For the ones who read the Lucifer Comics.... well he is a character and more precisely, Gaudium is a fallen cherub who appears in the majority of the series. He is not a bad character and actually helps Lucifer and the rest of the comic’s gang whenever he can but to actually see him in the show will be a bit hard still I’d be more than happy if Lucifer got back his strange fallen pet of shorts...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So Lucifer Comics or Theology for this one? I would say Theology although I crave to see this foul mouthed little creature in teh show. Alas our CGI budget is not great so...
In Christianity and mainly in Catholicism you have the external acts and the external sin, like murdering someone which is both an act and a sin and then you have the internal acts and the sins. Internal acts and sins are what we can associate mostly with the evil thoughts.
The Internal sins are three:
1) Delectatio morosa: This sin is the pleasure taken through a sinful thought or imagination even without desiring it.
This is perhaps part of Lucifer’s domain. He calls out the desires of people which they crave but they are bound by the constrictions of imagination or thought which sometimes may explain certain acts around these desires but with never reaching the desirable act itself.
Something like someone wants to cheat their partner, they can speak about it but they never do it. According to this concept, that person has lustful thoughts and as such he or she has committed a sin.
2) Gaudium: This is darker as the person takes pleasure out of the sins that have already been committed. It’s in a sense the joy you get out of an act but to which you are not remorseful about it, on the contrary, you relieve it with avid satisfaction...
In this case, you don;t just think something you have done it and you still enjoy it beyond of what you might have wanted out of that sin. You sin in order to sin which brings the third internal sin which in my opinion is connected to the second.
3) Desiderium: Desiring what is sinful because it is sinful and for no other reason.
The above sins according to the Catholic dogma have more effect on someone's soul than the ones who can be committed. A murder can be forgiven but the desire and the pleasure you get out of it cannot be forgiven and can stain a soul.
Matthew 5:28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Romans 6:12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires.
Okay, so what that has to do with Lucifer?
The word connects both in my opinion Marcus and Sinnerman but through a very different thread than the one you might think of. Let’s begin with Sinnerman.
In order for you to understand Sinnerman, we have to get back to Lucifer for a while. Lucifer has the “gift” to draw out desires verbally. The humans who are under his mojo at the time seem dazed and sometimes are wondering if they actually said that. Sometimes they also seem confused on what they have said in the first place. Still, Lucifer only exploits deep dark desires but so far when they have shown that they are desiring sin itself he is furious. Murder, exploitation, deceit does not dwell well for Lucifer and he always lashes out on them afterwards. Remember how angry he was with the guy who had killed Jenna? He condemns that kind of desire and sin.
But does Lucifer urge people to sin? In a way yes but only on the first level and when they don’t really harm themselves or others. He is very careful on what kind of favours he grants and what he tells people it’s okay to do. So yes Lucifer does like to give a push on free will but that’s it by no circumstance these people can claim that the Devil made them do it. It was their free will playing the part but mostly on a very tolerable level of sin. A kind of sin which you can deem as liberation in a way. Seeking sexual gratification, liberation, money... Still, whatever would cause an eternal damnation is out of Lucifer’s book.
Some say that we sin because we are sinners due to the eternal sin... The first sin if you like of Adam so we are bound to sin at some point but that does not mean we cannot aim to be sinfree... Anyway now let’s get back to Sinnerman.
Sinnerman as we saw in 3x01 murdered in a way Lucifer’s kidnapper. The guy who Lucifer afterwards questioned in 3x02 was adamant that he had killed the kidnapper because Sam was sleeping with his girlfriend and so the murder was out of jealousy.
On a later scene, Lucifer says that Sinnerman might have manipulated that guy somehow.... Gaudium was the perfect way to do it.
Sinnerman might have a very interesting ability. He grants favours yes but what if he can externalise the internal sins? At least the Gaudium? Here we can think of two possibilities. Either  Either Sinnerman can make people externalise their internal sinful thought into actions and then leaving them dazed and confused in a way Lucifer leaves his interrogation victims, or he can convince people that they have acted on their internal evil thoughts to cover his evil acts. In my opinion, the first one is the most plausible answer. Sinnerman can manipulate people on acting on their desires by evoking the feeling of Gaudium, meaning the pleasure of having satisfied an act and in this case an act which carries a sin internally and now externally.
But doesn’t that debunk your Maze theory since June Sanoiro? No it does not, on the contrary, it strengthens my belief that Sinnerman manipulated Maze on her internal sins and she might have acted on them but like the guy in the precinct she will not remember it. Yet with that in mind, we also have another possible player entering the game. Chloe...
Yes as unbelievable it might sound, Chloe might have been manipulated to attack Lucifer. Perhaps she was used in order to dispose or worse (think wings) hence the burns he had sustained... Now that implicates things quite a bit and the board could be changing a lot by the end of S3. Do not forget that we have a really big and shocking surprise coming up according to Lauren German (Chloe Decker) in her last interview. Does she know something? Who knows she was just telling what the writers had told them early in S3 so only time will tell...
Still, I might be wrong about Maze as in the final scene we see that the guy who handles the files is wearing black gloves... But not leather ones like in 2x18.
Tumblr media
Now as you can see the drawer has two sets of files and the second also has some names.
Tumblr media
As far as I can see the first is J. Chris Peterson. The only J. Peterson I know in Lucifer was featured as a Doctor with his wife (also a Doctor) in 2x06 - Monster.
The second seems to be really short and as far as I can tell with a lot of difficulties it might - again might - be Dr Martin.
The third was the most difficult one. As far as I can tell the second part is “of God”. Other possible words are rot or rest. In any case One of my interpretations of the first word is DUMMA of GOD. Duma (one M) in the comic books was the fallen angel who took over the rule of Hell after Lucifer left. He is not a bad Angel in any case but he has fallen out of favour for sure as he is called the Prince of Hell. For more info on that character just click the embedded link on the name above.
There are other words that might fit the first half of the third file but I cannot say with certainty. Just think of something between 5-7 words and see if it fits...
Finally, what is the connection between the Sinnerman and Pierce? Let’s say that according to the broad shoulders and all that in the final scene it’s Pirce although it might also be Dan by the paleness of the skin. Still, they might have used another actor for the end of 2x19 as Welling had not been cast at that point in spring in 2017 and we don;t know if that scene was shot then or now.
Marcus Pierce as we know has a tattoo which features some interesting Latin words. Most of them are words that were used in the Christianised Europe and the use of Gaudium is as I have said a term used mainly if not exclusively by the Catholic Dogma. My speculation here is that Pierce might have belonged at some point in an organisation which was aware of what existed on Earth and got out after the death of a loved one, probably of his child in my opinion.
The files seem like they have been meticulously kept but that doesn’t change the fact that certain vital information is missing. Charlotte Richards is not referred to as Mum, Lucifer is not referred to as Sammael or The Devil and yet Maze is called Of The Lilim. So can we speculate that Sinnerman might be one of her bothers? One that could manipulate her?
Personally, I remember quite a few Lilim from the comics and none was pleasant or cuddly aside from Briadach in his childhood. For the time being if Sinnerman is connected with the comics I’ll tentatively remain on my belief that it might be The Silk Man but with our writers, you never know...
