"what i know is that there's not one singular way to appreciate and enjoy music. i take it you don't listen to my radio show," he states, not phrased as a question because of how he's certain he is that he's right.

MCL NG ep 6 (pt3)

I was exhausted these days and that why this came out a bit late. Also, I'll make it shorter.

HC time:

Chloé didn't really experience the carnival and was very curious about how it was. She only went once as a child on a class excursion. They did eat some sweets and tried some very tamed rides. Since then, she hasn't had a chance to go again for a variety of reasons, such as studying, taking care of her brothers, and working.

About Danica: Chloé loves pets as well and had a dog and a couple of cats over the years and understands that maintaining a happy healthy pet takes a lot of effort and money. Despite that, leaving Devenementiel who seemed like a family was a skanky move, something that Chloé herself disapproved silently. She felt like Jason basically brainwashed her to join them (more reasons to hate him).

She thought the team acted way too nice and respectful toward someone who just ditched them. And when the tension had raised it seemed natural, especially because Jason wouldn't stop commenting.

The rides: Since it was her first time experiencing so many rides, Chloé felt overwhelmed but in a good way. She felt in a different world completely and would surely go again. She made sure to stay close to Roy and mostly went where he did. But what she enjoyed the most was the merry-go-round ride because it reminded her of the first time she went to the carnival, plus it didn't make her feel sick.

The fortune teller: Chloé actually believes in stuff like this and when he heard hers and Roy's predictions, everything made sense, and couldn't stop thinking about it. She was one of those girls who fantasized about her and her crush married and having children, growing up old together, and spending the last moments of their lives in each other's company. Also, Roy's reaction was pretty cute.

Speaking of cute, then they were at the shooting range, the fact that Roy went along with the couple stuff, strengthened Chloé's belief that Roy must feel something for her as well. Also, the fact that he offered to pay at the caw machine was sweet.

Toward the end, Chloe went with Roy on the Merry-go-round ride and it felt magic. The way the things moved, the lights, and the fact that Roy was there made everything better. Also, let's not forget about the holding hands.

After they were done, they regrouped with eh others and said goodbye. Chloe went home super happy and excited.

I doubt I have the time or focus to write it but legit fascinated of an "Adrien never went to school" AU thanks to re-reading the Enemies to Lovers Bakers AU.

I imagine the sequence of how this happens would be:

The first day happens as canon. But on the second day, Adrien is better contained at home until Stoneheat 2.0 lets him slip away to do hero stuff. Despite this, the fact the mayors daughter was nearly killed is used as Gabriel as a pretext as to why Adrien will be staying home. This nixes any plans, arguments or work arounds he or Chloe could come up with.

So, with Adrien contained to the manor, work & slightly more occasional Chloe hang outs, what becomes of the story overall? Well let's look at the season 1 plot from the main 2's perspective:

Marinette:

Off the cuff her story doesn't change much.

She doesn't befriend or start crushing on Adrien and because Chloe's distracted there's no seat dispute. With no Adrien, she may instead have a crush on Alya & Chat, but is not willing to act on or even necessarily aware of this at first. Though she may end up feeling heartbroken 'for some reason' when or IF, Alya & Nino start dating, but with no Adrien it may not happen, or could happen differently.

On a more long term level, I imagine some of the school Akuma don't come up, like there's no 'reason' for Chloe to try and steal Juleka's spot on photo day. & Chloe in general is probably bit more distracted & the two have slightly less reasons to butt heads, so the stories focusing on that would be stuff like the class election.

Her relationship with Chat would be largely unchanged given little has actually changed on that front. Though he may be a bit clingier and more overtly lonely so they may talk more. Adrien to her is just a pretty face who she sometimes sees hanging around Chloe.

I think the big divergence would really happen because of Lila. Mostly because without the Adrien factor she may handle the lies with a cooler head, this plot could manifest in two ways, but I will handle that lower down.

Adrien:

So, Adrien has been denied the chance to go to school because of the Akuma. He definitely resents his father and Hawk Moth a bit more overtly in this version and is even more inclined to use Chat Noir as an escape. What little freedom he did manage to claw out of the shift is usually spent hanging out with Chloe. This would also be easily used for comedy juxtaposition what she tells him of school with what we see.

As noted he also tries to spend more time around Ladybug and is perhaps a bit more fast and loose with details about his life, for good and ill. This could also lead him to slipping the truth to Chloe on accident or by intent shifting her dynamic with Chat, or there's still the fun contrast in how she treats the two.

Beyond that, and as established he spends a decent chunk of his off time with Chloe. In this context he is likely the one doing cosplay, which could may Lady Wifi notably hilarious if very stressful for him. He may also briefly connect with the class during the student election.

But again, he's otherwise very cut off from other kids. Though through this we do get to see a, if not softer, then "Trying to be a good friend" Chloe which is as awkward and clumsy as one would expect.

The main big divergence comes with his discovery of the book, likely born from a bit of rebellious snooping in his fathers office. As with the Lila piece above, this deserves its own segment.

Season 1 Finale:

The Book & the Story Teller would likely be the name. It'd be a dual story with Adrien uncovering the tome and realizing its importance and Marinette grappling with how to handle Lila's deceptions. I forsee 2 main varients.

1: Closer to canon. Adrien hears about Ladybug's "bff" from the Ladyblog and goes to give her the book to see if she can get it to Ladybug. It ends up with Marinette who suspects Adrien or his dad of being Hawk Moth. When the book is discovered lost, Adrien is barred from any outings or visits.

Chloe goes on a rampage to try and find it & to get Adrien to reveal Lila lied about them dating, causing her to Akumatize. Marinette does return the book at the sight of Chloe hiding somewhere sobbing over not being able to see her friend but not before making a photo copy version.

2: Very non canon. Adrien still discovered the book but is told to sneak off with it to tell Master Fu, and he does so. Gabriel is distracted by word of Ladybug's BFF and sends an Akuma after Lila. Because Marinette was already keeping an eye on her to reveal the truth she appears and quickly saves her, which makes it look like the lies are true, much to her annoyance.

Lila is now aware that this lie being believed is not good at all, she assumed Hawk Moth wouldn't notice or buy it. But she doesn't want to admit she lied either because then everyone would question everything so she's kind of stuck and ends up as the more common damsel essentially usurping Chloe's position as nominal Akuma target.

While all this was happening, Adrien was grappling with worries regarding his father and Fu and the Hawk Moth situation. He may also briefly lose the book when helping with Lila and it gets picked up by Ladybug so they both get to meet Fu. This sets up the Collector & also the return of the book via the above method.

I think I rather the latter as it feels more natural.

It also does something different with Lila with her still being a presence in class that irks Marinette and draws Akuma into everyday life.

It also lets her potentially be taken in a different direction with her being the target of attacks meaning she's sure as hell not going to work for Hawk Moth. Plus with no Adrien she likely fixates on different would be famous kids, be they:

Chloe (Hilarious because Chloe is as friendly as a porcupine), Marinette (Self starter designer who has to be polite through gritted teeth) General socializing (The Class) different targets of the week (Such as Luka) or a greater focus on Ladybug and trying to use her for social media fame, while also dealing with the stress of constantly being under attack.

Conclusion

It is harder to say what happens in season 2, but I imagine as changes would begin to pile up more things would diverge.

Kagami might make Adrien & Chloe a trio, or a quartet if Sabrina's been brought in more. She'd also potentially have a friendship episode with Marinette sooner if that was still to be a thing.

Chloe might not reveal herself as Queen Bee, or she might actually get picked by Adrien as a temporary hero, possibly along with Kagami, or Sabrina, so both he and Ladybug have a pair of friends.

It may be Nooroo's birthday that reinvigorates Hawk Moth, or he just can't quit in general. Less focus on school as the story heads into a "school break" period so more room for unexpected encounters & events.

Some version of Heroes Day and the Crimson Army is probably still the season finale. Or that could be the season 3 finale given its scale.

As said, unsure.

When Jax’s phone rang, he knew answering it was going to piss off pretty much everyone around him, but when he saw Jo’s name with the time in the top left corner, he walked away immediately and answered. 

“Hey, what’s up?” He could practically hear the scoffs clear as day of the men who ranked a lot higher than him burning their glares into his kutte as he walked away. They were likely getting more mad as they stared at the fresh rocker that was sewed into the back of his kutte, since he and Opie just finished their prospecting period. 

All Jax could hear on the other line was loud music, yelling, and then he heard Jo’s voice. “Jax?” It was extremely slurred, and very faint, like it wasn’t her who was on the phone. “You called Jax?!” And that remark confirmed it. 

“Hey Jax,” One of the voices Jax knew as Jo’s close friend was calmly speaking into the phone despite the chaos going on in the background. 

“Mare?” He asked, confused. “Where’s Jo?”

“Well um, currently? She’s making her way to the coffee table–oh no, she cut across to the keg to do a keg stand. She’s drunk, Jax. She won’t listen to me, I didn’t know who else to call.” 

“Shiiiit.” Jax was laughing slightly. “C’mon Mare, give her a slide of bread to soak up the beer and a cigarette outside and you’ll be able to push her into a car and drop her in the plants on the side of my moms. She’ll find her in the morning.” Jax was laughing at his own joke. 

“Jax,” She was cut off by a lot of noise which made Jax frown. “It’s bad Jax, I think it’s more than just alcohol, she was upset before, I don’t know. But I need help. We’re at Laney’s house.” 

“Alright, yea I’m on my way.” Now he was more concerned, the idea of his older, definitely more responsible than him, being on drugs, and being taken advantage of at a party was off-putting. 

“I gotta go.” He spoke up to the group as he walked back putting the cell back into his pocket. 

Some of them groaned, some laughed, most were pissed. 

“Nah, man.” Tig shook his head with a smirk. 

“You’re not going anywhere, son. We’re on a run, we need you.” Clay’s tone of voice left little to be argued with, but that didn’t bother Jax. 

“It’s Jo.” Jax knew those words were the magic ones. 

Clay’s eyes closed in frustration and he brought his hand up to his head like a headache was forming. “Can’t you call Gem?” This time his voice left much to be argued with and was drowning in desperation. 

“You wanna call mom at 1:30 in the morning to go to pick up a completely smashed Joanne?” Jax’s eyebrows raised. 

The rest of the crew looked at each other knowing none of them would have wanted to deal with that or the aftermath of it. 

“I can ride with him.” Opie spoke up, his hands resting across his chest. 

“Nah, bro. I’m good.” Jax shook his head, knowing the likely reason Jo was like this right now was because of Opie. 

“You gotta bring someone with you, it’s 1:30, you ain’t goin’ alone.” Clay pointed, his anger coming back out. 

“Chibs.” Jax nodded to the man before looking at Opie who looked wildly confused. “It’s better not to have both our bright white brand new rockers driving through Mayan territory to get back home at 1:30, bro.” Jax scrunched his face up. 

“Let’s go, Jackie boy.” Chibs slapped his shoulder as he walked towards the bikes. 

“Take the tow, she’s probably not in the best riding shape.” Clay spoke annoyed. “We’ll load your bikes up in the van.” 

The ride was quick, they made a 40 minute ride back to Charming, 20 minutes, without incident. Both of them stepped out of the truck as they stared at what was clearly a large house party still unfolding in the house. 

“Alright, I’m gonna go in and find her, you stay out here, only come in if things get rowdy.” He turned to Chibs who was grinning and pointing to the house. 

“Seems a bit rowdy already, lad.” 

Jax smirked and waved him off as he jogged up the driveway. The door was open but it was still tough to squeeze through the crowd. He dodged spilling drinks, annoying drunk people, and ashes of cigarettes being discarded until he spotted his sister, face down in the sink throwing up. 

“Jo.” He said as he pushed through the people now to make his way over to his sister. 

“I’m fine.” She pushed Jax’s arms off her the minute they touched her. 

“You’re clearly not fine.” 

“Here, I got her a water bottle.” Mare, Jo’s friend, appeared on the other side and handed Jax the water bottle. “She’s been like this for the last 10 minutes.” 

“Thanks, I got it from here.” Jax was shaking his head as Jo rolled her eyes clearly at the both of them. “C’mon, I’m gonna take you home.” 

Jo wasn’t in a place to argue anymore, the spinning was taking over and she was wishing she was back home. 

“Gemma’s gonna kill me.” Jo mumbled as she tried to balance herself against the counter. 

“Gonna bring you to my apartment at the clubhouse, I’ll tell her you were hangin’ with Wendy or some shit.” 

“She won’t believe that, she knows I got into it with your girlfriend last week.” 

Jax recalled their little argument last week that happened in front of everyone, Jo grilling her about something with her current boyfriend Micky that turned heated. Just as Jax thought about his sister’s boyfriend, he was in the room, like he spoke him to existence. 

As Jax closed his eyes in frustration, he mumbled under his breath. “Yea, not the biggest fan of yours either. C’mon, Jo.” He moved so that his sister was tucked under his arm and started leading her out of the party. 

She was mumbling a lot of nonsense, Jax not only chose to ignore it but it was honestly too hard for him to understand anyways. It was like that until they reached outside when Jo panicked. 

“My bag, I need my bag!” That was a sentence that came out clear as day. The panic in Jo’s voice meant there was something in her bag that she couldn’t leave without. 

“We’ll come back in the morning.” Jax tried to convince her as she flailed around in his arms. 

“I need my bag, NOW.” She was turning around, practically pushing Jax too go back inside. 

“Alright, alright. I’ll go grab it, you go with Chibs.” He was looing down the driveway in hopes that the man would see his struggles and come help. “Chibs!” With one call of his name, the man was appearing and Jax was pushing the girl into his arms. “Put her in the car, I gotta get her shit.” 

Jax was stepping back into the madness of the house party. His eyes immediately scanning for Joanne’s bag, her backpack was something that she’d bring everywhere with her since she was 12, and despite her being older now, he knew she still would have brought it. 

He clocked it on someone in the crowd and as he followed it he realized it was Micky. 

“Of course.” He mumbled before pushing through the crowd. “I’ll take the bag, Micky.” 

He turned around, pretty quickly, ready to fight but then smiled when he saw Jax. “Jackson.” He nodded. “Don’t worry, I’ll keep the bag safe for Jo.” 

“Yea just like you did for her.” He puffed his chest out. 

“I ain’t tryna fight you Jax.” The man escalated the conversation just by mentioning the word fight. 

“Never said anything about fightin’ Micky, just give me the bag.” 

“I ain’t given’ you shit, Teller.” Micky stepped to Jax who within the next two seconds, was ripping the bag off his shoulder and looking inside. 

He let out a breathy scoff when he pulled the bag of drugs out of his sisters bag and held it up to Micky. 

“I know for a fact this isn’t Jo’s.” He slammed it against his sister’s boyfriend’s chest. 

“I don’t know, she’s been really in the dumps lately, maybe she’s self soothing.” Micky smirked as his hand wrapped around the bags. 

“You know what, if that’s the case, I think I’ll take these with me.” Jax had started to think through how not only could he prove a point to Micky but also use this to get some quick cash for the club. 

Micky didn’t say anything, just tightened his grip on the bag. 

Jax pulled it out from behind his arms and stuffed it back into the backpack. His teeth sucking against his lip as he did it. “Stay the fuck away from Jo.” 

“Can’t help that she keeps running back to me. You’ll get it one day, Teller. Maybe when I have that reaper on my back.” He poked at Jax’s kutte which Jax quickly brushed off. 

“You’ll never be patched in Micky, you’re too much of a junkie creep to step foot in any SOA charter.” He was tossing the bag over his shoulder. 

“When I’m Jo’s old man, it’ll be pretty hard to stop me.” He was taking a step back now. “Enjoy the cash my drugs bring the club, maybe I’ll tell Clay if I’m funding SOA, I deserve a seat at the table.” 

Jax scrunched his face up at the comment but did the same as Micky and walked away. Moving the bag back down his shoulder to look through it. Finding a book, a notebook, and a makeup bag under the drugs. Inside the book, acting as a marker was a picture of Joanne, Jax and JT. Jax knew what it was before even looking at it fully. But when he went to place the book back in the pack, a piece of notebook paper fell out onto the driveway. As he moved to pick it up, he saw it was a note from Opie. 

“Know you’re leaving for cosmo school, Gemma mentioned it last time she was at TM – wanted to let you know that Donna and I are planning the wedding in June, wanted to let you know ahead of time so you could be there.” 

It looked like he had dropped it off or taped it to her door or something by the looks of the tape on the top of the sheet. He immediately knew this is what spiraled his sister. He pushed it back into the bag and made his way towards the tow truck. 

“Here.” Jax handed the girl the bag in which she hugged it tightly. Chibs looked at both of them a bit confused when Jax spoke up. “It’s JT’s bag. Gave it to her when we were kids.” 

That was all it took for Chibs to understand it’s sentimental meaning. 

“Where to, kids?” Chibs pushed the car’s gear into drive. 

“Back to the clubhouse, I’m not chancing dumping her at home and waking Gemma.” 

The ride was silent, the only sound being from the loud engine of the tow truck. As they pulled into TM the jerking of the truck over the potholes woke up Jo and she came to. 

“I feel like shit.” Her hand flew up to her head. 

“You look like it too.” Jax teased her as he glanced over at her hair all messed up. 

“Smell as well.” Chibs scrunched up his nose. 

“Fuck.” Jo looked down and saw the dried up puke stain on her shirt. 

“There’s clean clothes in one of our drawers. Gemma just did laundry. You’ll find something to change into.” 

“Gemma.” Jo started to piece together things. “She’s gonna be pissed I didn’t come home.” 

“Aren’t you leaving for cosmo school in like a week? She’s gotta get used to you not being home.” Jax said as he jumped out of the tow truck. 

“I think that’s exactly why these last few days home will be so crucial for our loving mother.” 

“I’ll tell her we were having a sibling bonding moment and drinking ourselves silly at the clubhouse bar.” Jax shrugged trying to think of something. 

“Aye, I can back that statement up.” Chibs agreed as he jumped up on the picnic tables to wait for Ja so they could head back up to meet the club. 

“Thanks.” Jo nodded in agreement. “You can go, I’ll be fine, I’ll take one of the prospect’s shirts, he keeps his things freakishly organized.” 

“Ahhh, Juicey.” Chibs laughed at the thought of their brand new prospect. 

“Did I say anything…” Jo whispered to Jax as her hands leaned against the clubhouse door to push it open. “..Stupid.” 

“Nope, just your normal bitchy self.” Jax joked which earned him a push. 

“I still feel so drunk.” Her hand moved to her head. “Thanks for picking me up. Mare call you?” 

“Yea, she was worried.” Jax grabbed a cigarette to place in his mouth. “For the record, if Micky can’t be there for you in moments like this, maybe he isn’t a good match.” 

“I broke up with Micky. Tonight. He’s dealing. Why I was fighting with Wendy last week.” 

Jax sighed and nodded. “You got shit in your bag.” He pointed to it which caused Jo to drop it off her shoulder and look inside. 

Her shoulders dropped, still being too inebriated and hungover mixed together to deal with it. 

“Give it to me, I’ll handle it.” His hand was extended out. 

Jo handed the plastic bag that was filled with a bunch of different pills and powders to Jax. “Can’t promise he won’t come looking for it.” 

“He won’t.” Jax grabbed it and tossed it to Chibs who caught it as he laid on the picnic table. Jo nodded and went to go inside the clubhouse when Jax called her name one last time. “You know, it’s his loss.” 

Jax wasn’t talking about Micky, but he knew Jo was assuming he was. 

“Thanks little brother.” She tapped his arm before she disappeared back in the clubhouse where she’d spend the rest of her night, alone. 

As she walked past the blue bike that was JTs, she stopped and placed her hand on it. 

She mumbled as her hand glided across the bike and fell off as she stumbled down the hallway of apartments. 

“Wish you were here.”

Cut My Life Into Pieces, This Is My Last Resort

"Marinette has reached the end of her tether. Hawkmoth is running her ragged as Ladybug, and after three years Lila has finally managed to make good on her promise to ruin her life and leave her all alone. Desperate and exhausted, Marinette finally decides to take drastic measures; something’s gotta give, and that something can’t be Ladybug. She decides to take her civilian self out of the equation for a while, but a terrible sleep-deprived decision forces her to put things into motion way before she’s ready. Now she has to try and stick to her guns, despite the devastation she’s left in her wake…which for some reason seems to have hit Adrien and Chat Noir the hardest."

i actually finished this quite recently, and i genuinlly cannot recommend it enough. fair warning, there is a GOOD bit of angst and some gore, but I promise there is a happy ending. i binge read it in less than a day because it kept me on my toes and i had to see the end! if you liked Nine Lives, i'm sure you'll like this too!

The Power of Creation

now this one is a toss up. pregnancy fics aren't very popular, but I swear by anything written by Ladynoir_fan. i myself enjoy the occasional pregnancy fic, so i have a couple of these in bookmarks. if you're into accidental pregnancy, check this one out!

Soulmate Tropes

this one is so good. it's silly and light hearted, so it's really great if you need a pick-me-up. if you like soulmates and need a good laugh, read this one!

Buga-BOO!

don't get me started on this one. it has the perfect ratio of angst, resolve, fluff, and Lila slander all in one place! all of The Great Pretender series is really, really good. (i especially enjoyed Lie-abilities of the Ladybug Cure, but be warned: it involves gun violence and i understand that can be sensitive to some readers. proceed with caution!) if you like some hurt/comfort with Marinette whump, read this one!

Lady Butterfly

"Marinette Dupain-Cheng is very tired.

Of everything, for sure, but mostly she feels like everything is bearing down on her at once and she isn't allowed to have emoitons because she can't afford to get akumatized, not as Ladybug.

Then she gets pushed a bit too far and leaves before anything terrible can happen, and finds herself talking to her mortal enemy/nemesis.

He's actually not that bad, she finds.

i really like this one. it includes Gabriel not being a horrible person (mostly) so that's great to read! if you want to read not so bad Gabriel, akumatized Marinette with a sprinkle of Lila takedown, this one is for you!

November was definitely dominated by FairyLoot and Illumicrate editions. Most of these books were either pre-ordered or part of my monthly subscription box.

To be honest, Pride and Prejudice set up as a graphic novel was not on my bingo card this month, but after a lovely conversation with the local bookseller in my town, I gave this one a try. Though I would always recommend reading the original beforehand, I guess this edition is specifically made for collectors and avid lovers of Jane Austen.

I've had my eye on Leigh Bardugo's The Familiar for quite a while now, but when it came down to buying it, I unfortunately chose Fourth Wing and Iron Flame instead - a huge mistake. Hoping that this will mend the wounds that have been inflicted by Mrs. Yarros for wasting my time, The Familiar offers a refreshing change with its historical fantasy setting in late 16th century Madrid, inspired by Bardugo’s own family history. I have high expectations, especially after hearing so many great things about Bardugo’s work.

When I opened my monthly FairyLoot subscription box, I couldn’t help but smile at the cover of The Teller of Small Fortunes. This edition just radiates cozy, Ghibli-like vibes, and the story inside might be just as enchanting as the beautifully designed cover. Tao, a traveling fortune teller, predicts only small fortunes to avoid the dangers of bigger ones. Her quiet life is upended when a reformed thief and an ex-mercenary enlists her help to find a lost child. Along with a baker and a magical cat, Tao must decide if she’s willing to risk everything to protect the family she never thought she could have.

The Monster of Verity duology by V.E. Schwab, consisting of This Savage Song & Our Dark Duet, mostly convinced me with it's beautifully illustrated cover design. I have barely read anything about the premises of these books, and I admit that my intention behind buying them was merely out of my appreciation of the art enveloping this story. So I guess this duology and I will have a little blind date very soon.

The Safekeep by Yael van der Wouden was delicately displayed at a local bookshop since it got shortlisted for the 2024 booker prize. According to the book seller, this story brims with vivid characters, profound emotional depth, and delves deep into issues like loneliness, longing, love and redemption.

Vilest Things by Chloe Gong was a pre-order from FairyLoot that I received in November. It's the second book of the Flesh and False Gods series, but I haven't had the chance to read this one yet. I've heard mixed opinions on this series, claiming that this isn't her best, but I am, as always, neutral until I can form my own opinion.

An Academy For Liars was part of my Illumicrate Evernight box. It's quite fascinating to witness the current upsurge of books set in academia, and I can definitely see the potential lying in stories that take place in that particular environment. Set within an intellectual environment, these stories not only offer the opportunity to explore themes of ambition, but also open the door to discussions about one's own identity and worth in the world of academia - a world that is often ruled by unjust power dynamics that are a result of prestigious and elite institutions.

When Haru Was Here promises heartbreak and tears, and as someone who's a sucker for emotionally gripping stories, this is exactly the kind of novel I couldn't resists to buy. The story revolves around Eric Ly, who starts to imagine scenarios to cope with the grief of losing his best friend. One day, one of his scenarios becomes real as he quite unexpectedly meets Haru, a boy he met last summer in Japan. As Haru sits next to Eric in a coffee shop, it is clear that no one else can see him except Eric. It's a hauntingly tragic story, as it largely revolves around Eric's emotional journey to come to terms with loss and the inevitability of death. If you're a masochist like me who needs a good cry, go for it. My sister-in-law also recommended You've Reached Sam, another book by Dustin Thao. Apparently, this is also a great book to read if you are in a desperate need to shed a few tears.

As part of my pre-order from FairyLoot, I also received the first two books of the Crowns of Nyaxia series. A friend of mine promised me that I would love them - probably because I am still a bit obsessed with one particular white-haired vampire, *cough* Astarion .. *cough*, which, according to the logic of my friend, consequently means that I will be obsessed with everything that is sharp-toothed and centuries old. Is she right? Maybe. We will see, but I highly doubt that any vampire will ever come close to Baldur's Gate's infamous Fangs.

Yay. We've made it to the end of my pile. To be honest, my resolution for November was to not buy so many books, and as you can see, I failed spectacularly. But at least I got to spend my Saturday night writing this silly little blog post for someone who wants to read about someone who adopts way too many books.
