Early autumn mornings in Summersend are cool, bordering on chilled, in a way that begs you to stay in bed for just five more minutes. And another five. And five more...

You’re just about ready to get up this time--no, really, you promise--when a session of staccato car horns blare through the morning quiet. Jerking awake, you peek up over the sill of your bedroom window and wince against the morning sun.

Below, parked where River’s truck ought to be, is a familiar hot pink Jeep with the top down and a grinning blonde girl standing in the driver’s seat. She waits,  leaning her elbows on the windshield frame, while you push your window open and stick your head out. . 

“Good morning, Brighteyes,” Val croons, a salacious grin fixing you in place for a brief moment. Then she winks, and all traces of seduction vanish as she bounces with excitement and begins to punctuate her speech with clapping. “Come on-Come on-Come on! Did you forget? We. Are. Go-ing Shop-ing~~!”

Woops. Between the chill in the air and the warmth of your bed, you actually had forgotten. After a quick apology, you throw on the first clothes you find and race downstairs, yelling goodbye to Alice as you go. 

Val already has the passenger side door open by the time you get outside. The soundtrack to an old musical--something about the circus, you think--is pouring out the speakers as you climb in. Val waits until you’re buckling in before presenting you with a brown bag and a cardboard travelling cup. 

“Breakfast for my champion,” she teases with a wink as you accept the offering. “You’re going to need the energy.”

“Val, we’re just going shopping. Surely it’s not that serious.”

“Oh, Brighteyes.” She snickers, cutting you a look that’s almost apologetic. Almost. “There’s nothing ‘just’ about shopping. We’re going to be the best dressed couple at Harvest, or we’re going to die trying.” 

You’re not certain how a fashion failure would kill you, but you take a sip of your drink instead of arguing. It turns out to be your favorite morning beverage, doctored exactly to you preferences. You aren’t certain how Val knew, but neither do you question it. She turns the music up, puts the Jeep into gear, and you hit the road. 

Shopping or no shopping, it certainly isn’t a bad way to start a Saturday morning.

Ed is here demonstrating the look of disappointment we all had upon finding out that he was terrible (if kind of understandably terrible).

Oh, Ed. Such potential. But then you had to go and do that.

You know what though, I do appreciate this guy, for being a fairly believable character and for providing an emotional arc for Mia in s2 that we might otherwise not have got to see. And she also (before it went sour) got to experience intimacy on her own terms.

And without Ed, we would never have got to see her SLAP SOMEONE TO THE LITERAL FLOOR, amazing.

Anyway.

Did anyone suspect Ed of being dodgy until the e3 chintap? I totally didn’t see it coming, so, well-played. He had the makings of a nice, sweet ally to the Elsters, so to have that taken away was A Real Shocker™. Also, it was the catalyst for the s2 Miaura reunion, so for that, I’ll always be grateful to this particular idiot.

Thanks, Sam Palladio, for a great portrayal of a kind of terrible, but kind of understandably terrible, person.

If there had been a series 4, I wouldn’t necessarily have wanted Ed to appear, because I feel like his story’s done. Particularly if there was no Mia. But, off in the background, I think he should have joined some kind of pro-synth movement, even if it was only out of guilt.

Jul 04, 2022 09:34 IST New Delhi , July 4 (Always First): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday left for Andhra Pradesh's Bhimavaram to attend the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju. Prime Minister will also unveil a 30-feet tall bronze statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju on the ocassion. "Leaving for Bhimavaram to attend a very special programme- the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of the great freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju. Will also unveil a bronze statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju. This will enhance the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations," PM Modi said in a tweet. According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), at around 11 am, Prime Minister will launch the year-long 125th birth anniversary celebration of legendary freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju in Bhimavaram. Born on July 4, 1897, Alluri Sitarama Raju is remembered for his fight against the British, in order to safeguard the interests of the tribal communities in the Eastern Ghats region. He had led the Rampa rebellion, which was launched in 1922. He is referred to as "Manyam Veerudu" (Hero of the Jungles) by the local people. The government has planned a series of initiatives as part of the year-long celebration. The birthplace of Alluri Sitarama Raju at Pandrangi in Vizianagaram district and Chintapalli Police Station (to mark 100 years of Rampa Rebellion - the attack on this police station marked the beginning of Rampa Rebellion) will be restored. The government has also approved the construction of Alluri Dhyana Mandir at Mogallu with a statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju in Dhyana Mudra, depicting the life story of the freedom fighter through mural paintings and AI-enabled interactive system. Godavari, North Andhra districts suffer power outage for hours

Most parts of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari districts falling under the limits of AP Eastern Power Distribution Company Limited (APEPDCL) suffered a power outage on Thursday. Due to power failure in over 36 substation areas, many rural pockets suffered an outage that lasted for three to five hours. Though the electricity supply was restored in some areas after evening, the exact reason for the disruption could not be known immediately.

The discom’s mandal-wise feeder interruption report, which gives real-time data of the power outage, showed some mandals in Srikakulam district remained power-less for nearly 15 hours.East Godavari saw disruption in the supply since the morning. “Power supply was restored only after 9 pm and there was no proper response from the department officials on the reason for the outage,’’ K Subramanyam, a resident of Sarpavaram near Kakinada, said. An assistant engineer in Kakinada city circle said there was no problem at the sub-station level and interruption in the supply was from the headquarters itself.

In Vizianagaram, the power outage started at 12 noon in rural and agency areas and from 5 pm in the urban and semi-urban areas. The supply was restored across the district only after 9 pm. AP Transco officials claimed that emergency load relief was the reason behind the outage. In Visakhapatnam, there was a power outage in areas under K Kotapadu, VUDA Haritha, Padmanabham, Rolugunta and Darakonda sub-station areas in K Kotapadu, Padmanabham, Anakapalle, Rolugunta, Chintapalli, and GK Veedhi mandals and some GVMC areas.AP Transco senior officials said there was no problem in production or dispatch of power through the grid.
