i know I’ve only mentioned it a few times on here but I wanted to kind of quickly send out a post because I won’t be as active on here for the next two weeks.

April the 12th is the anniversary of my mom’s death. It’ll be 9 years this year. I’ve shared that on February 23rd my brother passed by suicide as well. A few months ago I was notified that I was accepted to run the Chicago Marathon on behalf of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention with team Race for Hope. I will be running that race in honor of both my mom and my brother.

Today is a national collective fundraising effort for the AFSP. If my story resonates at all with you, I ask that you please consider donating. If you can’t, please call and let somebody know you love them.

Actually starting Chicago training this week. Last week was a bust.

This week is gonna be sporadic due to appointments after work, but my goal is running 3 times this week.

I have 27 weeks, I can do this.

Kelvin Kiptum, 23 years old, sets the new World Record at the Chicago Marathon. He finished the marathon in 2:00:35, coming tantalizingly close to breaking the sub 2 hour barrier in an official race.

I must've been one of the last to qualify. Struggled mightily at Buffalo and had a decent but unremarkable run in Sacramento, but did enough at those races to get invited, I guess. Looks like every second counted. Already signed up for Chicago, but this will give me additional incentive to run a good one on home turf.

I first saw these posted on social by New Yorkers. These are strong lines in the font Nike has used for 50 years. They have "RUN" in place of their name by their symbol, but there's no question who these ads are for. The first two are from the New York City marathon this past weekend. The one on the right is from the Chicago Marathon. Two from the Chicago Marathon I couldn't get a good image of read, "At least the road to hell is mostly flat" and "This is the perfect weather for suffering." See a few more here.
