Writing systems

Latin

The Latin, or Roman, script was originally adapted from the Etruscan alphabet during the 7th century BCE to write Latin. The earliest known inscription dates from the 6th century BCE.

The letters -y- and -z- were taken from the Greek alphabet to write Greek loan words. Other letters were added from time to time as it was adapted for other languages.

The modern Latin script is used to write hundreds of different languages. Each language uses a slightly different set of letters, and they are pronounced in various ways.

It is the basis for the largest number of alphabets of any writing system and is the most widely adopted writing system in the world.

Holly married into the Carlson family at a 21 to your muse’s older brother with a 15 year age gap between them. Their father, Lionel Carlson, owns a large media conglomerate and had three children: Walter (b. 1969), your muse, and their “adoptive” brother Theodore (‘Teddy’, b. 1989), though their youngest is technically their half-brother, born from an affair between Teddy’s mother and Lionel.

Walt was abusive towards Holly all throughout their marriage, and hurt their seven year old child, Declan, in a rage. This, being the last straw for Holly, called out a hit on Walt (at Teddy’s suggestion), and he is killed in July 2019 and covered up as a suicide.

Holly returned to Catalina Island, where the Carlson’s are originally from, in September of 2019.

Your muse can honestly fit in wherever; I’m just a sucker for some good family drama. I imagined the middle brother to always be under Walt’s shadow, perhaps even estranged from the family because his views didn’t align with the rest of the family. His relationship to Holly (and his brother Teddy!) can be whatever you wish, depending on your muse’s personality.

wanted to doodle, been thinking about shiloh's backstory, decided to draw it

timeline explained(under cut):

origins

-Mage prologue, Shiloh Surana is six years old, just a normal kid in the circle

-After Amell is recruited and leaves, Shiloh tries to learn how to play wicked grace. Random templar catches her, assumes she's up to something.

-Noone stops him from 'attemtping' the rite of tranquility, Cullen only finds her right after, and right before the rebellion begins. Cullen is more protective of her at the time and furious with the templar(s) who 'tried' to make her tranquil than he is angry at mages in general*

-Amell returns(her name is Cheyenne) and takes Shiloh with her as an apprentice after sorting everything out at the hold and did not take no for an answer

awakening

-Shiloh is engrossed in her studies, befriends Ser Pounce and Anders. When Amell has to leave to study the calling, she leaves Anders in charge of Shiloh's education

dragon age 2

-Anders flees the wardens, Shiloh comes with him to Kirkwall and helps out around the clinic

-Shiloh finds a tiny wounded animal and nurses it back to health. She assumes it is a lizard until it grows wings. She names it Crackers. Leandra takes a liking to her, gives her some of her children's old clothes. Leandra is so dedicated to helping raise Shiloh that she doesn't fall for the Lily plot.

-In act 3, Shiloh has fun playing matchmaker. She tries to get Fenris and Anders to be friends, and maybe more...

inquisition

-Varric calls for Shiloh before the Conclave to help out, she gets there right before shtick went down, has a bad feeling, hears a scream, yells for people to evacuate the building and runs to help

-Shiloh gets the mark, and becomes Inquisitor!

*= the rite actually worked, but a nearby spirit of intuition had a bad feeling and saved her just in time. she doesnt fully realize until cassandra brings the truth to light in inquisition's story

Jackie and Tyrell fixed up the hickies on Ardian and Haleigh's necks and then left. Jackie didn't want to be anywhere near Tyrell so she rode with Haleigh and Ardian rode with his Uncle. When they got to the party Ardian and Tyrell went and helped their ladies out the vechile.

Captain America And Other Avengers Honor Real-Life Hero

Captain America — otherwise known as Chris Evans — and other members of the Avengers, along with other actors who have spent time in the superhero genre, took time out this week to pay tribute to a real-life hero.

That hero is six-year-old Bridger Walker of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and according to an Instagram post by his aunt (via Deadline), little Bridger — who’s apparently a huge Cap fan — saved his four-year-old sister’s life on July 9 when he put himself between her and a charging dog.

Bridger sustained several bites on his face and head before he got himself and his sister out of danger, with his injuries requiring two hours of surgery and some 90 stitches. Bridger’s aunt Nicole quoted the brave little boy as saying, “If someone had to die, I thought it should be me.”

Bridger’s aunt tagged a number of Marvel actors on her post, including Evans, Holland, Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt, Tom Hiddleston, Chadwick Boseman and Vin Diesel.

At press time, Evans, Ruffalo, Holland and Brie Larson — along with Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), the Russo brothers, and DC actors Zachary Levi (Shazam!), Robbie Amell (The Flash) and Anne Hathaway (The Dark Knight Rises) — have all reached out to Bridger in response.

Perhaps the best was this video message from Evans, who promised to send Bridger a real Captain America shield as a gift:

Meanwhile, Anne Hathaway wrote, “I’m not an Avenger, but I know a superhero when I see one. I can only hope I’m half as brave in my life as you are in yours, Bridger. Wishing you an easeful recovery, and many cool looking rocks. Hey @markruffalo, do you need a teammate??”

Ruffalo posted the following message to Bridger:

“Dear Bridger, I just read about what happened to you and I wanted to reach out to say this… People who put the well beings of others in front of themselves are the most heroic and thoughtful people I know. I truly respect and admire your courage and your heart. Real courage isn’t dominating people or fighting against people or walking around like a tough guy. Real courage is knowing what is right to do and doing it even when it might end up hurting you somehow. You are more of man than many, many I have seen or known. With Admiration… Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk/Professor)”

You can read the original post from Bridger’s aunt here, and we should warn you that it contains some graphic photos of the little boy’s injuries.

It’s always great to see the actors from superhero films step up in a situation like this, even just to provide a kind word or encouragement. Children look up to these heroes, and it warms the heart that someone like Evans — who finished out his run as Cap last year — embraces that long after he’s put down the shield himself. He, Holland, Pratt, RDJ and others have visited kids in the hospital over the years as well — sometimes in full costume — and we can only guess what that kind of support means to children whose very futures are often uncertain.

But most importantly, let’s give it up for Bridger Walker. He put himself fearlessly in harm’s way to save his sister, and that does make him an incredible human being as well as a true superhero. As Iron Man once told Spider-Man, “Kid, you’re an Avenger now.”
