Got tagged by @izzizzels and for this procrastinating fanfic writer ask game, and immediately jumped on the chance - editing is a pain and I'll take any distraction I can get.

1) How many works do you have on AO3?

Seven! I actually have a lot more on my laptop but I’m way too insecure to ever upload them. Or I did upload them and deleted them a day later. My fic folder is a dark place.

2) What’s your total AO3 word count?

~102k.

3) How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

I’ve uploaded fics for four fandoms: Amphibia, Dimension 20, Critical Role and The Magnus Archives (…one is not like the other). But again, I’ve written tons of short drabbles and oneshots for other fandoms. YA-books, cartoons, DC & Marvel, etc.

4) What are your top five fics by kudos?

- A Theory of Butterflies and Other Insects

Atobaoi, my beloved <3 Gen longfic, still ongoing. This roleswap AU is almost halfway done and boy am I having a blast writing this. This reimagining of the canon show takes a deep dive in exploring the girls’ flaws and strengths as they each arrive in a different place; Sasha with the frogs, Marcy with the toads and Anne with the newts. The concept in itself isn’t wholly original but I’d like to think that I’ve made it stand out with its lore, mysteries and twists. There’s still much to come.

- Late Night Vigils

I wrote this Magnus Archive oneshot around 3 am and although my perception of Daisy as a character has shifted as the podcast progressed, I still really like this surprisingly fluffy fic of her and Jon bonding over their similar trauma.

- King's Gambit

Marcy and King Andrias have a jolly good time playing chess! I’ve played chess on a national level for a couple of years and I just can’t stop peppering in those delicious metaphors.

- The Emptiness in Loyalty

Oh, this is an oldie, mostly disproven by canon at this point. Critical Role oneshot, focusing on Astrid and her relationship with an institutionalized Caleb/Bren from the point of his breakdown to his escape. It’s very bittersweet and although my writing has definitely improved, I still occasionally look at it with fondness.

- The Hare and the Fox

Queen Sasha AU lives rent free in my brain. This two-chaptered fic of a very different Marcy and Sasha reuniting after many long years is unflinchingly brutal and it was so much fun to write.

5) Do you respond to comments, why or why not?

I always try to do that! Even just with a ‘thank you’. I get immensely excited when someone drops a comment analyzing atobaoi or theorizing about the plot, that is the best feeling in the world and I want to show how I appreciate it, even if it takes a little while to respond. Fanfic is great because the line between author and reader is so thin and I enjoy the sense of community it fosters.

6) What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

I was originally going to say The Hare and the Foxbecause it ends on a very bleak note, with few things being resolved. But then I remember the knife to the gut that is King’s Gambit. That Hurt No Comfort tag is there for a reason.

7) Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?

Mmmmm not really, the closest thing is a Fantasy High AU set in the world of Dragon Age.

8) Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Nope! I did get some skeptic comments when I posted the first chapter of atobaoi, but a lot of those people are still reading along and say the sweetest things whenever I update.

9) Do you write smut? If so what kind?

Nope!

10) Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yes and no – very long story, very complicated. Let’s just leave it at no.

11) Have you ever had a fic translated?

I have not!

12) Have you ever co-written a fic before?

No, and there are (I think) only two people I would consider co-writing a fic with, but I would feel a bit less anxious proposing marriage to them than asking them to collaborate, so. We’ll see.

13) What’s your all time favourite ship?

I’m not much of a shipper! If you’d point a knife at me I’d probably say Perc’alia or Shadowgast, but mostly because of their fantastic dynamics rather than the romantic aspect. Romance in itself is not very interesting to me.

14) What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

* stares longingly at my extremely self-indulgent post-Night Marcy Memory Loss fic *

15) What are your writing strengths?

Creating coherent narrative arcs, creative plot twists, and emotional scenes. I tend to focus a lot on the (overall) plot of my stories and make sure they’re sturdy without any holes or weaknesses.

16) What are your writing weaknesses?

Characterization and detailed descriptions. This is partially because I am not a native English speaker and sometimes struggle to get a good grasp on the language.

17) What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I’m not a fan of the Gratuitous [Insert Foreign Language] trope, mostly because in my opinion a lack of research and/or linguistic awareness often leads to butchered language, which always bothers me a lot. Translation footnotes or parentheses, while sometimes necessary, don’t help out much and often distract from the pacing.

When writing dialogue between two characters, one of whom has a second language, I rely on my own experience, throwing in a word or two in situations where it would make sense while the reader is still able to follow the conversation. When two characters are discussing something in their native language I just describe they’re talking in their native language.

18) What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Oh gods, please don’t ever ask about that phase of my life, but Voltron. To look at those unfinished fics in my folder is like gazing into the abyss.

19) What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

The Tales A Dead Man Tells takes a close runner up, but after all the effort and love I’ve put into it, A Theory of Butterflies and Other Insects comes first place. I started dipping my toes into the Amphibia community after posting this fic and the outpour or support and enthusiasm was heartwarming. I’m really glad to be here and I can’t wait to show you all what's in store.

Recently we found out that we have another Little in our System. He is an introject by my biological brother, Fedor. I felt really crappy when I stopped communicating with my abusive mother because it meant that I couldn’t communicate with Feida too. And I was splited because of it.

He is not just a Fedia’s “copy”, just like other introjects. I started to notice that many things about him are not like the same things about my brother.

So, meet the alters part 12. Fedia.

Name: Fedor. Or Fedia for short.

Gender: Male. I’m a boy. But it doesn’t mean that I like all boyish gender stuff, I like some “girly” stuff too.

Age: I’m not sure. I think I’m 7… or maybe 6.

Neurotype: Definitely Autistic and proud of it.

What do you like: I like dinosaurs, especially tiranosaurs, “The land before time” cartoon, Chubaka and Star Wars, Doctor Who and Daleks, LEGO, sci-fi, Marvel comics and films, Black Panther and Halk, X-man, Sir Walter's Scot’s writing, Middle age stuff, history, car (I adore it from the early years), Mummy Trolls books, Thomas the tank engine, the real tank engines, crayoning, Disney, Game of the Throne, a chess game.

What you don’t like: losing and being weak. And that sometimes it’s difficult to speak orally and so no one could understand me.

Your friends in the System: Lil, Ayman, Abu Umar, Liza, Mowgli, Abu Hamza, Erik, Rumpel.

Your favorite color: Red. And blue, and sometimes yellow.

Your favorite car: MINI cooper. And some Jeeps.

Your favorite places: where you could find some Dinosaurs… or Tardis… or in the inner world I like Grandpa’s Vitaliy village, and New York and Abu Umar’s place. Abu Umar’s place is funny.

And in the outside world it’s York and a park in Saint Petersburg (I don’t remember the name of this park).

What do you like to do when you are fronting: I like to crayon Dino’s with Ayman and Mowgli.

1. Candyland: What is your favorite type of candy? Gummies. I’m not really into chocolate or caramel candies. 2. Chutes & Ladders: Do you have a fear of going up on ladders? Does your house have a laundry chute somewhere? I’ve never had to climb up a ladder but I do think I could just as well have a fear of it since as a kindergartener I was always afraid of going up the jungle gyms. I don’t know what a laundry chute is. 3. Operation: How many surgeries have you had in your lifetime? Zero, thank goodness. The idea of having to be put under and then being sliced open makes me feel faint lmao. 4. Sorry!: Do you sometimes apologize, even when it’s not your fault? Yes, abusive people can make you pick it up as a habit. 5. Game of Life: What is your greatest accomplishment thus far? What do you hope to do with the rest of your life? I count getting into my university as my biggest accomplishment so far, but I know I can still do so much more. I don’t really have a specific career goal, but I do want to ultimately be the best at whatever job I end up in and to be the happy with whoever I end up becoming.

Trouble: What is something big that you got into a lot of trouble for? My algebra grades in high school. I almost flunked freshman algeb and nearly had to go to summer school. The other day while making Gab’s surprise birthday video. I had never made a video before, so the program itself was very foreign to me and at first I doubted I could ever come up with anything. Luckily my sister, who is in film school, was such a big help in helping me get acquainted with the different features and buttons haha. As for feeling like I don’t fit in, I haven’t really felt that a lot in the last couple of years. Other than my experience with AIESEC, I’ve been a lot better in dealing with different groups of people and adjusting to their interests and personalities. 9. Hungry Hungry Hippos: What’s your favorite meal to eat? A nice juicy burger usually works for me. 10. Uno: Can you count to ten in another language? If so, which language? Filipino, Spanish, and Korean. 11. Go Fish!: Have you ever been fishing before? No. I've always lived in the city so I’ve never been exposed to fishing. It’s very common for those living in the province, though. 12. Old Maid: Did you ever have a maid in your house, growing up? We had house help for a short time when we first moved into our house. But because my mom is super organized and very particular about it, we went through like 15 house help in total before she realized she’d rather do everything herself. There were three who stayed longer than a few months because my mom found them very good, but they all wanted to go back to the province eventually so we had to give them up. Most stayed for like a day or two, a week at most. 13. Simon Says: Did you always do everything you were told as a child? I think so, yeah. 14. Red Light, Green Light: When you approach a yellow light, are you more likely to slow down or speed up? Depends if I’m in a hurry or not. 15. Are you any good at jump rope, hopscotch, or hula hooping? Have you ever used a pogo stick before? I can do the first three. I’ve never used a pogo stick and have only seen it in cartoons. Looks fun but I also know I’d break my bones using them lol. 16. Do you prefer chalk or bubbles? Two very different things, but I remember loving bubbles as a kid. My only encounter with chalk was when we’d draw a hopscotch court on the ground, so yeah not a lot of interaction with it. 17. Did you used to go on a lot of bike rides as a child? Not really. My lola always told us we couldn’t go too far away from home, so I followed her. 18. Capture the Flag: What is your country’s flag? What about your state’s flag, if you have one? The Philippine flag has a white triangle at the left side with three stars symbolizing our three main islands, and a sun with its eight rays symbolizing the eight provinces that had big contributions in the 1896 revolution against Spain. On the right, the flag is divided into blue on top symbolizing peace, and red symbolizing patriotism. The two colors can be switched depending if the country’s at war. 19. Tic Tac Toe: When you played, were you the “hugs” or the “kisses”? I dunno, I picked whatever symbol I felt like picking if someone would ask me to play. 20. Have you ever won a game of Marco Polo in the pool without cheating? I’ve never played Marco Polo because I don’t know how the game works. Not very common here. 21. Scrabble: Are you any good at spelling? Yes. I was That student who aced all the spelling quizzes in English class lol. 22. While playing rock, paper, scissors, which do you usually throw down first? I always mix it up. 23. Were you always stuck being the pickle in the middle? I don’t know what this means. 24. Limbo: How low can you go? We never really played this. 25. When playing, did you usually pick “Truth” or “Dare”? Truth, because I have no problem telling it and people usually pick pretty shitty dares for you to do. 26. Have you been involved in any innocent games of Spin the Bottle or 7 Minutes in Heaven? No. Not common games here. I didn’t even know about 7 Minutes in Heaven until I watched 13 Going on 30 when I was like, 14 lolol. 27. Twister: Are you a flexible person (figuratively or literally)? I’m not very physically flexible. I can adjust for a lot of situations, though. 28. Did you used to pretend that the floor was lava? Kinda? In my old school there was a line pattern on the school grounds, and when I would walk I’d try not to hit any of the lines. 29. Guess Who: Are you any good at guessing games? Sure. 30. Picasso on Parade: Cubism, Classicism, and The Great War

“Picasso: The Great War, Experimentation and Change” on view at The Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia explores the dynamic relationship between Cubism and classicism in the works of Pablo Picasso, particularly those produced in the years surrounding World War I. The Barnes has assembled a truly impressive show, which provides wonderful examples of the different media and modes in which Picasso was working throughout this period.

This landmark exhibition at The Barnes marks one of the foundation’s first forays into the world of temporary exhibitions. The collection, assembled by Dr. Alfred Barnes, comprises arguably the best collection of Impressionist and early Modern works in the United States. The collection is also notorious for its legal complexity. The collection came with a series of regulations that require the collection to stay exactly as Dr. Barnes arranged it, and that the works cannot be moved or lent. These restrictions made the 2012 move from the original location, Dr. Barnes’s home in Marion, Pennsylvania, to the new building in center-city Philadelphia, highly controversial. With more than 40 works by Picasso in the permanent collection, the exhibition provides an interesting insight into Picasso’s enormous body of work.

While perhaps best known by the general public for his 1930’s quasi-Surrealist portraits, Picasso’s oeuvre in fact spans more than 70 years and is characterized by many different periods and styles that often overlap or are in dialogue with one another. This ability to work in different media simultaneously truly distinguishes Picasso from his contemporaries. The exhibition focuses in on a 12 year window in Picasso’s career, between 1912-1924.

The show moves chronologically, opening with some incredible examples of Picasso’s Synthetic Cubist works from before the war.

While these Cubist works were celebrated within artistic circles before World War I, once the war begun, sentiments changed. The exhibition presents this shift with a detailed yet concise video, which includes photographs, cartoons, and newspaper clippings from the period to illustrate the anti-German sentiments that swept Paris and how this impacted Cubism. In short, it explains that during World War I, Cubism came to be seen as unpatriotic and German. In this movement of extreme nationalistic fervor, it was classicizing art that was seen as patriotic, upholding tradition of classical French painting.

This show provides multiple examples of how Cubist artists reacted to anti-Cubist sentiments. Some of the Cubist artists, like Jean Metzinger, choose to create a special genre of “nationalist Cubism,” as exemplified by his Soldier at Game of Chess (c. 1915) which uses a Cubist technique to depict nationalistic and patriotic subject matter. Others, like Picasso, went in a different direction, choosing to explore other more naturalistic modes. The year 1914 marks a shift towards naturalism in Picasso’s works, moving away from the highly abstract forms of early Cubism.

One of the most exciting aspects of this exhibition is the inclusion of Picasso’s whimsically abstract costumes for Diaghilev’s Ballet Russesperformance Parade in 1917. The exhibition introduces these works to a larger public using the idea of avant-garde ballet itself as an example of this juxtaposition of abstraction and classicism that arises in Picasso’s work during and after the war. The fanciful and abstract constructions Picasso designed, according to the wall description, to “disrupt the classical body with Cubist forms.” While the scenery is more classical, the costumes are Cubist paintings come to life. The exhibition includes photographs of all the costumes as well as monumental reconstructions of three of the costumes: the American businessman, the Horse, and the French businessman, which tower over the viewer on a faux stage, a photograph of the original backdrop painted by Picasso behind them.

The dynamic that this exhibition illustrates is best seen in the comparison made towards the end of the show between Picasso’s Pierrot and his Harlequin with a Violin both from 1918. Pierrot is an example of the classicizing mode Picasso adopted at the end of World War I. The figure is sculptural and naturalistic, yet somewhat simplified. There is an attempt to suggest depth and volume using bright color, which is interesting in comparison to the utter flatness of his Harlequin with a Violin right next to it. The untrained eye would guess that these works were done by different artists, let alone the same artist in the same year. But that’s the genius of Picasso.

The exhibition concludes with some of Picasso’s beautiful neo-classical works from the period following World War I. These enormous, sculptural women dressed in fresh white togas represent a return to interest in classicism following the destruction of the Great War, for example his Seated Woman of 1920.

By including the Parade costumes, works by other Cubist painters, as well as a series of photographs taken by Jean Cocteau of Picasso and other members of the Parisian avant-garde in Montparnasse in 1917, the exhibition contextualizes Picasso’s work from this period and provides a glimpse into many interesting and unknown aspects of Picasso’s life and career.

Funimation can be good too, such as Space Dandy and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. But then the setting of the show itself and the accents come into play. Like, in Black Butler, the English accents are really forced in the dub and it’s too distracting for me, but I freaking love Hellsing Ultimate and Drifters’ dubs for their use of accents. And then Japanese names can be pronounced differently in English so there’s that problem. 53. City or countryside: Countryside 54. What book have you read over and over? 1. coke or pepsi: After that commercial the other day, Coke.

2. disney or dreamworks: Dreamworks, I think. They have How to Train Your Dragon and Kung Fu Panda and Shrek! But if Disney keeps creating stuff like Moana, I might have to switch.

3. coffee or tea: Coffee, probably, but I can’t drink it. If I do, I’m wired and bouncy and awful. So I’m trying to switch over to tea.

4. books or movies: Definitely, definitely books. I can manage movies sometimes...but only if I can fidget and talk straight through it. Even TV shows are hard to sit through for me.

6. dc or marvel: Okay, so the Captain-America-Nazi thing was ATROCIOUS. But Marvel has those tiny, cute franchises like Patsy Walker AKA Hellcat and Squirrel Girl and nonviolent superheroes, and I like that trend. So I’ll go with Marvel, provided I don’t read any of the big-names anymore.

13. lavellan, trevelyan, cadash, or adaar: Oooh. I feel like Lavellan is more central to the plot and can interact more meaningfully with Inquisition’s setting, but I really, really loved playing an Adaar.

14. fluff or angst: Fluff fluff fluff. Too much stress and I have to put the book down and step outside to breathe.

15. beach or forest: Beach, and now I’m landlocked. (sigh)

16. dogs or cats: Cats. Dogs are cute, but they don’t know when to leave you alone. Cats get personal space and kind of live their own lives.

17. clear skies or rain: I loved the torrential downpours back in Houston, but now that I’m in Colorado, clear skies are SO nice. Not too warm, perfect for relaxing outside (I say from my computer chair).

18. cooking or eating out: I order way too much take-out, I’ll admit that. I really love and miss cooking, but it’s hard to muster the energy.

19. spicy food or mild food: Spicy! Well, it depends on the type. If you’re just chopping up 85 jalapenos for fun, then no thank you, but an Indian curry will get me every time.

20. halloween/samhain or solstice/yule/christmas: Solstice/Yule/Christmas is more family-and-friends-ish, so I like it a little better. I’m not a very spooky person.

21. would you rather forever be a little too cold or a little too hot: I’m guessing this is excluding the possibility of wearing jackets or short sleeves to correct for temperature, right? Eesh. I’m rarely ever too hot, so I guess too cold, since at least I’m used to that.

22. if you could have a superpower, what would it be: Shapeshifting yes please! I’m with you, Rowan.

23. animation or live action: Animation. It’s just fun! And the art choices are so interesting to me (I can’t draw a stick figure, but I like seeing other people who can).

24. paragon or renegade: Haven’t played Mass Effect, but my understanding is that Paragon is kinda the lawful good choice and Renegade is more chaotic, right? I’m sadly lawful good. So paragon. (And I’ve also heard that renegade is racist, so no thank you. Although I’ve also heard that renegade is passionate about defending their friends...)

25. baths or showers: Baths are my relaxing “calm down everything’s okay” treat to myself.

26. team cap or team ironman: Um...as far as Superhero Rules go, I really loved Ta-Nahisi Coates’ article about this: Iron Man is the logical choice. Right? You can’t have superheroes running around exempt to all rules. But Cap is the heart-choice, because if you knew a rule would hurt your best friend in all the world, and you didn’t feel he deserved that punishment, you’d fight. In my head, Iron Man, because giving superheroes free reign is a recipe for disaster. BUT I think situations have changed: for better or worse, Marvel is very America-centric. So the one registering the mutants would probably be our president. Which would be Trump. So now I’m Team Cap. (Don’t get me wrong. Both superheroes are intolerable.)

27. fantasy or sci-fi: Fantasy...but it’s a tough call! I love my cyborg-futuristic-alternate-planet-space-operas SO much that I might have to switch that answer soon. Some really cool things have been happening in sci-fi lately.

29. youtube or netflix: Netflix. There’s more of a quality guarantee.

30. harry potter or percy jackson: Harry Potter. I really love the diversity in Percy Jackson, but I hit them too late to appreciate the jokey style of humor.

31. when you feel accomplished: When I write and everything flies around and connects inside my head. It hasn’t happened for a long time.

32. star wars or star trek: I’ve been told I’d like Star Trek more, especially old-school philosophical Trek, but I don’t know enough about it to say.

33. paperback books or hardback books: Paperbacks are my preference, but I get so many hardbacks from the library that my preference is switching.

34. horror or rom-com: They’re both actually really tense (interpersonal conflict stresses me out!). But maybe rom-com, since I can sleep afterwards.

35. to live in a world without literature or music: I get to pick? I’m actually going to go with a world without literature, because then we could all return to oral storytelling and ballads, and because if I couldn’t hum then I’d never do the dishes.

36. pastel colours or dark colours: Dark, but actual colors: not just black, but maroon and plum and navy blue and the like.

37. tv shows or movies: Movies...? TV shows are doing such marvelous and interesting things, but I never, ever finish them, because I can’t binge-watch to save my life and I always find something else that needs doing.

38. city or countryside: I grew up visiting my grandfather’s land, and I loved getting up early in the morning when the sky was all misty and the world was quiet. Then I moved to a Tiny Country Town and realized exactly how wonderful-but-awful that kind of place could be. I’m glad my still-there friends are turning it into a better place, but now I prefer the city.

39. if any other zodiac sign could describe you, what would it be: I remember everyone posted the What Zodiac Thingamajig are You lists for a while, and Virgo was always something like “glaring over your spectacles,” and Pisces was “You’re a nice fluffy bunny who daydreams too much and flakes out and sometimes cries because flowers can’t sneeze.” So Pisces, I guess?

40. if you could only listen to one album for the rest of your life what would it be: ahahaha, you think I listen to albums.

41. cinema or theatre: Theatre! Much more interactive, especially tiny theaters where the performers are right near you. I can’t focus on movies (the screen maybe?), but I just end up staring at theater slack-jawed.

42. if you could be any fictional character’s best friend, who’d you be: So many of my favorite characters have such difficult lives.

43. smiling or smirking: Smiling? I can’t really smirk.

44. are you an ‘all or nothing’ type or are you more consistent: All or nothing. I’m trying to develop consistency.

45. playlists or your whole library on shuffle: Whole library on shuffle! My mom swears by playlists, but I want to always be surprised.

46. travelling or staying at home: I like traveling. Really truly honestly: I’m used to uncomfortable sleeping situations, and for some reason all of my road trips have ended up being bizarrely in-depth and soul-searching. Plus I like seeing new places.

47. books or fanfiction: Books, but I still love fanfiction and applaud those who write it!

48. If you could live in a fantasy world, what world would it be: One of those integrated-fantasy worlds, where it’s just like ours only fey creatures and divergent multicultural myths have been added in. I’d really love to wait behind a centaur at Starbucks.

49. your favorite cartoon: Steven Universe, but I just discovered Phineas and Ferb and it’s delightful.

50. name the weirdest five songs on your itunes, current or past: Let’s see. “The Pirate Ninjas from Dino Island” was egregious. Mrs. Burch’s science songs (please tell me someone remembers). Some bagpipe cacophony. Everyone says “No Blue Thing” was weird but it was my favorite for YEARS. And there’s this song from Amelie that starts with aysynchronous piano notes, tosses in a bunch of snapping and whistling, ties in accordion music, and ends on a music box. I don’t remember the title, but that one was odd.

51. a favorite song that starts with the same letter as your name: Last name work? “By Yon Bonnie Banks.”

52. the last inanimate object you named: my House Squid! Its name is Herman.
