i’m not very good at coming up with outfits but hopefully it looks smart casual and formal ^^”
I think since both the Afton and Emily family saw quite some money after the business took off (au), they would have a few fairly expensive outfits for special occasions such as functions, parties, celebrations, etc., and of course the kids often get dragged along and have to look the part

A frown etched itself on her face as she ran her hand over the fabrics hanging from the racks. All of it felt foreign underneath her fingertips. Satin, chiffon, and everything else that was far more expensive than she was used to. Y/n’s wardrobe mostly consisted of denim and polyester blends that tended to fray after two washes. It was all that a hunter could afford, after all.
“How in the hell are we gonna afford any of this crap?” She whispered to Dean, who was eyeing the rack behind her, the gowns in front of him all a deep shade of red.
“Charlie’s miracle card, remember? There is no limit,” Dean raised his brow at her, a grin etched across his perfect face.
“Fine,” she groaned. “I still don’t see why I even need to go dress shopping, I’m sure I could find something in my closet.”
“I’ve seen your closet, and none of it is right for this case. You’ve got to distract the coroner for the night and you can’t do that in baggy jeans and flannel.” Dean huffed as he picked a dress off the rack. Y/n’s eyes went wide as she took it in, the hem was short for anyone’s standards, then add in the plunging neckline and this dress left nothing to the imagination.
“That is so not happening,” Y/n pointed at the offensive garment, her stomach fluttering at the simple idea of even trying to slip into it. Every spot on her body that she hated would be on full display in that thing. Her thick thighs, the roll that sat on her bra just under her arms, and don’t get her started on her abdomen.
“Come on, just try it. You never know ‘till you try it on.”
“Ugh,” Y/n snatched the dress from his hand before stalking off to look at more dresses. There were a couple more options that she grabbed to try on that were closer to her comfortability level. Under normal circumstances, she wouldn’t be caught dead in any of the items in her arms. But Dean had this way about him, always able to convince her to do anything without question. Maybe it was the way his skin crinkled around his eyes or the brightness that always seemed to live behind those deliciously green eyes? Who was she kidding, it was all of that and then some. The huntress had fallen hard for him from that first meeting. Sometimes she wondered why she chose to torture herself.
Dean Winchester was the cream of the crop when it came to hunters, as was his baby brother, Sam. The whole world knew who they were, including heaven and hell, so how could she be expected to resist him when he smiled at her the way he does. Or even when he made her coffee in the mornings just how she liked it and picked up chocolate and pain killers for her when he knew it was that time of the month. He was exceedingly attentive to her, something that she was sure he only directed at Sam. It was just another thing that surprised her about the legend of a man.
Yeah, like an idiot she fell for the eldest Winchester. There was no stopping it even though she was certain that her feelings would never be reciprocated. Y/n wasn’t like the other woman that Dean went for when he was on the prowl at bars. It’s not that she was ugly, it was that she was plain at best. People didn’t turn their heads when she walked in the room, men’s gazes didn’t linger on her from across the bar, no, Y/n was merely average. That’s how she knew that Dean would never see her as more than a friend because he had never looked at her in any form of want.
“Are you ready to try those on?” A sales woman’s voice broke her out of her unrelenting train of thought. Dean answered for her before she could process the woman’s words.
“Yes, please.” He smiled brightly and Y/n watched as the woman’s face flushed under his gaze. Y/n almost felt bad for the woman who was now just another victim to his charm. The saleswoman at least would be able to relish in his attention, wondering about what could have been had Y/n not been there with him. Y/n on the other hand already knew her fate. But mostly, if she was being honest, she was jealous.
Dean put his hands on her shoulders and guided her along behind the boutique worker who took them into the back of the store where the dressing rooms were located. The area was mostly quiet, just the music from the speakers could be heard in the space. Three large mirrors sat in front of a stage on the far wall, the rooms spaning out on either side of it. In the center of the room were three plush chairs for those waiting for others to sit in.
The worker unlocked a door for her as Dean plopped down in one of the chairs. Y/n slipped behind the door, letting out a deep breath as it closed behind her. If there was one thing she hated it was trying on clothes. Nothing ever seemed to fit her right or look anything like what it did on the hanger. It made the task a constant battle with her self-consciousness.
Y/n had always carried extra weight on her body. It wasn’t that she didn’t live an active lifestyle, she was a hunter, after all, it was the diet that hunters were accustomed to. It was fast food and dives in every small town in America. Not many mom and pop places tended to offer an egg white omelet, and it wasn’t her inclination to eat them either. So, she had always been bigger than most, and if she was being honest she had grown used to that. Maybe she used it as a shield to protect herself. Making connections with people as a hunter only tended to end in heartbreak, so this was easier.
The hunter hid the scary red thing Dean had selected behind all the rest of her haul, hoping she would find something before she ever even got to the thing. Y/n stripped from her flannel and jeans tossing them on the bench in the corner. She also added her bra to the pile, knowing all of these garments necessitated that she did not wear one. That left her in her favorite pair of panties. They weren’t anything special, but they made her butt looked its best.
The first dress in the line up was a straight black dress that hit just above her knee. The neckline wasn’t anything too crazy but the sleeves rolled off the shoulders a strip of fabric wrapping around her bust. Y/n was able to slip it on and tug up the zipper on the side. With a slide of her hands against the fabric, she frowned at her reflection. Not that it would flatter any figure, in her opinion.
“What’s taking so long in there?” Dean called out from his spot in front of the mirrors.
“I’m not coming out in this thing,” she called back as she began to take the dress back off.
“Oh, come on sweetheart,”
“Nope, next,” Y/n heard him huff even through the door and she imagined he rolled his eyes as well.
The next dress was a deep blue color. It had a wrap and pencil skirt, with an asymmetrical shape between the hem and the neckline. She supposed it was pretty but it also kind of looked like she had wrapped herself in a towel. Mostly, she felt like the point in the neckline was going to stab her in the throat, and she was not sure how to be sexy when she was trying not to die. It was another pass for her.
There was only one dress left, and at that moment she was wishing to whoever was listening that she had picked out a few more choices. Dean was whistling now, some Zeppelin tune she couldn’t exactly identify and she knew he was getting impatient. Y/n swapped the fabrics on her body, pulling the thin straps of the red satin piece up onto her shoulders. The dress clung to her skin, the fabric lightweight.
“Y/n/n,” Dean’s voice was just outside the door, the new proximity of it startling her. “Come on, you have to show me at least one. I know you and you’ll just try vetoing them all.” Y/n swore under her breath because he was right and it pissed her off that he knew her that well. The zipper was out of her reach on her back and she supposed she wouldn’t be able to truly see what it looked like on her unless she zipped it up.
“Fine, I need help with this zipper anyway,” she sighed and held the fabric against her naked chest while opening the door with her other. Dean was beaming when he came into view on the other side of the door. He snuck inside faster than a flea, the slamming of the door startling her again.
Get it together woman, you kill monsters for a living, Y/n cursed herself.
“Turn,” Dean instructed her with his fingers, and the woman obliged as she faced the mirror. Dean brushed her hair off her shoulder with his fingertips, the action barely distinguishable but it sent the hairs on the back of her neck standing to attention. With one hand holding the bottom stop, he used the other to tug on the pull tab, sliding together the teeth in one fluid motion.
“Thanks,” Y/n’s words were soft as she made eye contact with the green-eyed hunter in the mirror. He ran his tongue of his bottom lip, pulling the plump flesh between his teeth as his eyes wandered over her exposed skin.
Y/n visibly cringed as she looked at herself. Unfortunately, this was her favorite out of the three, but that didn’t mean she felt like she could venture anywhere in public in the thing. “Sweetheart, if that coroner hadn’t already been eyeing you up today, he would not know where to start when he sees you in this.”
“Shut up,” Y/n scrunched her nose as she spun around to whack Dean’s shoulder. “You are so full of it.”
Am not,” Dean scoffed, his eye softening before he continued. “Y/n, why don’t you see how beautiful you are?”
Y/n whipped around to stare at him, her arms crossing over her chest, not believing that those words come out of his mouth. Surely, he was playing with her…
“Have you looked at me, Dean?” Y/n slapped her hands against her thighs, emphasizing their jiggle upon impact. “I’m nothing special.”
“I have looked at you,” His gaze traveled down her body again, his breath hitching slightly as he did so. “I’ve been looking at you for a while now.” The drop in Dean’s voice sent heat rushing through her body, the gravel undertone making her shiver.
“Dean--” words escaped her as the hunter stepped into her personal space, pushing her back against the mirror. Dean’s left hand came to rest against the reflective surface just beside her head as he chewed on his lip.
“I don’t think you know how hard it is for me to keep my eyes off of you,” he leaned into her, his nose brushing alongside hers. “And now, seeing you in this dress, I’m not sure I’ll be able to keep my hands off you.”
A rush of confidence coursed through her blood as his hot breath fanned over her face and Y/n slipped her hands behind his neck, pulling his lips down to meet hers. The movement was anything but smooth, though the action sent both of the hunters into action. Dean growled as he nipped her lower lip and she opened up to him, allowing his tongue to invade her mouth.
A moan involuntarily came from her as his hands moved to her hips, the heat of his skin seeping through the thin material where his finger pressed into her flesh. He stepped back, pulling her after him as he backed up and dropped to sit on the plush bench. Dean bunched up the material to her hips as he urged her to straddle his lap. Y/n used her hands on his shoulders to steady herself, the new bulge in his pants a surprise to her as she settled in his lap.
“Yeah, and you thought I was kidding,” Dean took in the slight rise in her brow, leaning forward to run his lips across her jaw, taking note of the places that made her shiver. Her eyes were squeezed shut as she allowed Dean to explore her body and let herself just feel him. Dean raked his teeth along with the shell of her ear, causing her to buck her hips and both of them to groan.
“Fuck,” her words were a breath on her lips as she repeated the action, the roughness of his jeans just enough friction on her aching sex.
“That’s it, beautiful, take what you need,” Dean sat back and used his hands to keep her body moving against his own, watching the way her brows scrunched together in the center of her forehead. With a shift of his hips, he had her pushed back and straddling his left thigh, his hands still in their place on her hips. “Can you come like this, sweetheart?”
“I don’t--” a jolt of electricity had her halting her denial, instead she chose to just nod and place her hands against his chest to balance her movement. She could feel Dean’s heart hammering in his chest under her palm and the quick rise and fall of his breath. Even at this moment, she was disbelieving that he was that turned on watching her get herself off on his thigh, but she had the proof hammering under her fingertips. Y/n was biting her lip to keep quiet in the small room. “Dean, I’m so close.”
“I’ve got you, come for me, Y/n,” he husked as his grip tightened, though she wasn’t sure how that was even possible, seeing as there was already gonna be bruises there later, that she was sure of. The sound of his voice reverberating in her head had the coil snapping inside of her, heat flooding her body as every nerve sparked and faded out. A rush of air left her lungs, her body slumping as her muscles relaxed post-orgasm.
“Oh my god.” As her arousal ebbed from her body and the reality of what just happened came to her sense, Y/n clammed up and she tried to climb from his lap. Blood rushed to her face and her hands flew to her cheeks to hide the heat settling there.
“Woah, where are you going?” Dean stopped her from making a hasty exit, his eyes searching hers in question.
“Dean, what the hell just happened?”
A smirk replaced the confusion on his face as he leaned forward and nuzzled his face in her neck, tracing his tongue up her pulse. “You just got yourself off on my thigh while I tried not to cream my jeans,” he breathed in her ear. It was like he already knew every button to push on her body, his dirty talk doing everything she needed it to for her body to already be aching for him again.
“I--”
“Shh, sweetheart. That was hot as fuck, and all I want now is to be buried deep inside that pretty pussy of yours.”
“Jesus,” her eyes shifted to his, taking in the mischievous glint shining behind his iris. “You aren’t kidding.”
“Nope,” he popped the ‘p’ at the end of his word and Y/n nodded as she climbed off him. She turned her back to him so he could undo the zipper, and it took a second for Dean to catch on to her silent action. He jumped to the edge of the bench and tugged down the zipper before sliding the material down her shoulders. Dean hooked his fingers into the edge of her panties, placing a kiss on the dip in her lower back before pulling the soaked material to pool at her feet along with the dress. He stood then as she turned back to him and pushed his jacket and flannel down his arms, adding it to the pile of discarded clothes in the room.
“Come, on we don’t have a lot of time before someone gets suspicious.” There was a quiver in her voice as she lifted the hem of his tee and tugged open his belt. It was taking everything in her to quell the shaking in her hands. Dean’s fingers came down to wrap around her wrists, halting her movement and she looked up at him.
“Y/n we don’t have to,” he was trying to read her mind as he examined her face. The trepidation was seeping through her pores, but not because she didn’t want this. Hell, the painful ache between her legs told her how much she wanted this, but her brain couldn’t help to race through the million thoughts about what it all meant.
“No, I-- God do I want this,” Y/n began chewing on the inside of her cheek as she tried to come up with the words to explain to him what she was thinking. But the longer the time passed the more nervous she grew, standing there stark naked and he’s still basically fully dressed. “I think I’ve wanted this for a long time now, but I’m just scared.”
“Of?” He urged her to continue.
“That this doesn’t mean the same thing to you,” Y/n cast her glance down, her eyes fixated on the way the fluorescent light glinted in the metal of his belt.
“You think that this is about getting my dick wet for me.” It wasn’t a question, because she had all but spelled it out for him. “Y/n,” He put his fingers under her chin and turned her head back up to his, brushing his lips against hers, the action soft and unhurried. “I told you, I’ve been watching you for a while now, trying to learn everything I could about you. I would have done this the first night I met you if I hadn’t thought about what it would do to you. But I’m done being scared because I think I fell for you a long time ago and no amount of whiskey or other women could make me forget that. So I’m done fighting it.”
“Yeah?” Her eyes were swimming with unshed tears now, and Dean answered her with another kiss, pulling her body flush against his own as he invaded her mouth. The pair only pulled apart when they could no longer fight the need for air. “Dean--”
“Yeah,” he breathed, dropping his grip on her to finish what she started with his belt. Y/n watched his movements, her breath getting caught in her throat as she watched him pull his length from its cotton confines. Dean signaled for her to turn with one hand as he stroked himself with the other. She obliged, of course, and Dean pushed her gently between her shoulder blades until her hands were pressed against the mirror. He nudged her legs to open a tad wider, meeting her gaze in the mirror.
“Do we--”
“I’m good if you’re good,” she told him, knowing where he was going with his question. He nodded to her before lining himself up with her entrance. Dean held her gaze as he entered her from behind, both of them sighing together as he became fully seated. Y/n closed her eyes as she tried to compose herself, her head falling between her arms.
“Fuck, open your eyes, look at yourself,” Dean was biting his tongue as he swatted her ass to get her to lift her head again. She indulged him, looking at herself in the mirror before turning her eyes back to his in the mirror. “There you go,” he praised her, the words like music to her ears as he pulled back out and slammed into her hips.
Dean set up a steady rhythm, careful to not shake the walls of the dressing too much with his movement. The couple kept their eyes on each other in the mirror, the moment the most erotic thing she could ever remember doing, but for the life of her, she couldn’t be bothered by it. Even from her vantage point, she could see how blown his pupils were, the black of his iris’ all but drowning out the green that she loved so much. To be honest, she wasn’t sure which she liked more now. All she did know was the feeling of him moving inside her and the way her muscles were shaking.
A small knock had Dean stilling his movements, and Y/n stood up, pressing her back against his chest. He slipped an arm around her chest as she signaled for him to be silent. “You doing alright in there?”
Y/n swallowed the lump in her throat and let out a breath, “Yeah,” she called back, afraid her voice would be too wrecked if she said anything else.
“Is there anything else I can get you? Maybe some different sizes?” The saleswoman tried again.
“Nope, I’m all set, thank you.”
“Okay, just let me know.” The sound of her footsteps could be heard retreating from the dressing room, and Dean pressed his face into her neck, the pair of them chuckling.
“Come on, sweetheart,” he adjusted their position, resuming the movement of his hips as he snaked his free hand down to rub against her clit. Y/n jolted in his arms at the contact, this time closing her eyes as he built her back up. “I’m right behind you. Can you come for me again?” Y/n nodded against him, her hands flying to his forearm as she felt herself jumping over the cliff, her mouth open in a silent scream. Her knees buckled and Dean had to adjust himself to keep her from falling, still fucking her from behind as her fluttering walls milked him to his own orgasm. He bit into her shoulder to keep himself from groaning out loud.
“Sweet Jesus,” her body went limp in his arms as the pair of them caught their breath in the now muggy space.
“Yeah, you are so not going out with that coroner tonight. We will find a different way.” Dean admitted as he pulled his now softening cock from her. Y/n flinched at the feeling and the subsequent rush of his release inside her.
“What?” She turned to him as he began righting himself, not understanding why he didn’t want her to do her job.
“‘Cause you are all mine now,” Dean tugged her into his chest, his fingers around one of her biceps. “And I want to spend all night making sure you can’t walk tomorrow.”
“Oh,” Dean laughed as she blinked at him, clearly lost for any sort of coherent answer to what he just told her.
“Get dressed so we can get out of here and kick Sammy out of our motel room.” Dean tapped her ass again and she pushed him away from her, a stupid grin on both of their faces.

Oblitus Part 26 I.M.P
39 Days Left Until Extermination...
"Will all hotel staff come to the main lobby for an important announcement!" Charlie's voice echoed throughout the hallways. Everyone walked into the lobby to see the princess and Vaggie, waiting.
Husk eyes were red and blood shot, while his fur had several tangles and mats as Niffty tried to brush them out. He tried to shove her away as she did. Angel was half naked while he had on a very short shorts much to Alastor's discomfort while Husk on the other hand was flustered. Alastor was perfectly dressed as always, standing and waiting, with a smile etched across his face, although he had slight dark circles underneath his eyes. Anna, who was standing next to him, looked worse for wear. Her hair was a complete mess, not even brushed as if she just crawled out of bed. Her eyes were bloodshot as well as she let out a yawn wanting to go back to sleep.
"What's the big idea calling so damn early at 6 o' clock in the morning?!" Angel questioned angrily still half asleep while holding Fat Nuggets who was sleeping in his arms.
"Since, everyone's been cooped up at the hotel for awhile. I thought that we should go out and have some fun. In celebration for Niffty's redemption, we are going to my dad's theme park, LuLu World!" Charlie explained.
"LuLu World?" Anna asked, confused half asleep and dazed.
 "LuLu World!?" Niffty exclaimed, excitedly.
"Lu Lu World!" Charlie shouted, happily.
"I can't wait to tell Baxter!" Niffty said.
Alastor glanced down at Anna. "Looks like this is a perfect opportunity for our date!" He said.
"Y-Ay!" Anna answered while smiling nervously. She did not the smile that the radio demon had on his face.
The limo parked right in front of the park's entrance and everyone stepped out. Husk pulled Anna aside away from everyone and whispered.
"If he does anything weird to you, just scream."
 "Got it." Anna nodded.
Everyone went their separate ways, Husk with Angel, Niffty with Baxter, and Vaggie with Charlie along with Razzle and Dazzle, Charlie bodyguard goat pets, as they left Alastor and Anna alone together.
"So what do you like to do first?!" Alastor asked leaning in far too close to Anna's personal bubble.
"Why don't you pick then I'll choose the next one?" Anna shrugged. Alastor hummed in thought before answering.
"Merry go round!"
"Are you serious?" Anna questioned.
"Why, yes, indeedy!" Alastor replied. He dragged Anna by her hand as they headed towards the ride. Some of the carousel were shaped like apples while some had a dark horse. Both Alastor and Anna, each, climbed onto the horse. The ride started up and slowly began to spin around. Anna held onto the pole as the ride began to pick up speed. It couldn't go faster could it?
It did...
The ride went faster, and faster as it went around. Anna shut her eyes as she began to lightheaded and dizzy. Alastor on the hand was enjoying every second of it as he leaned back, raising his hands in the air as the ride went faster, hooping and hollering. Who knew he was such a big man child!I
As the ride continued to go faster, not too far off from the side, hiding in a abandoned booth were the three imps. Blitzo fired a couple rounds but missed mostly hitting some unfortunate demons and imps and shooting and breaking some of the carousel as well.
At the end of the ride, Anna found herself face first into a trashcan as she puked up the remains of the breakfast she had earlier. She glared up at the radio demon who was standing beside her, innocently, with a smug smile on his face.
"Now, let's go on that ride!" Alastor suggested, pointing over towards a rollercoaster as it plummeted down to the ground fast, combustion in a fiery explosion. Anna whimpered as she stared at the ride with wide eyes. This guy is going to kill me! Alastor laughed but suddenly stopped as he saw something strange.
He noticed a red dot appeared on Anna's forehead. "You know what, I changed my mind. Let's go do something else instead!" He quickly insisted.
"Okay? Up for a little shooting?" Anna asked. Alastor smiled.
"You read my mind!" He replied then linked his arm around Anna's, heading towards the stand.
Pop! A random balloon, that was held by an imp child, imploded, from out of thin air as it was shot, crying as it did.
The two walked straight up to a shooting stand. It had angels for targets as well as cherubs. There were an assortment of stuffed prizes hanging from the walls.
"Step right up! Step right up!" The imp shouted. "Shoot the angels and win a prize!"
"Mind if I have a try?" Anna asked.
"Are you sure that you can handle it?" Alastor mused, teasing. Anna frowned. She wanted so badly to wipe that smirk off his face. She picked up the pistol and the imp started the targets. Anna turned to the vendor.
"Make them to faster." She stated.
"Are you sure?" The imp laughed. "I think your at cream puff level at best."
Anna nodded. "Do it."
"Okay, don't say I didn't warn ya!" The imp exclaimed, pulling down the lever. "Cranking it up to God speed!"
The targets began to move at an excessive alarmingly fast rate, hard enough for everyone who was watching to see. Suddenly, one by one each target fell as Anna fired each round. There was a stunned silence as no one made a sound as they stared frozen in shock. Alastor, with wide eyes and a frozen smile, standing rigid. Each target was down, not a shot missed.
"Holy shit!" The imp vendor exclaimed in shock.
"I'll take the deer stuffed animal, thank you." Anna replied, blushing, a little, embarrassed from everyone staring. The imp still standing in shock handed the animal out towards her. Anna took it and gave it to Alastor who was along with everyone else still in shock, a deer in headlights.
"Let's do something else, shall we?" Anna suggested, quickly walking away. Alastor chased after her right at her heels.
Where did that come from?!" He questioned.
"What?"Anna shrugged, acting like what just happened was no big deal.
"THAT! What you just did back there!" Alastor pressed further.
"Well, I did tell you that my father was a hunter. Sometimes he would take me with him. It used to be a hobby between just the two of us." Anna explained.
"Why didn't you tell me that you can shoot!" Alastor shouted.
"You never asked." Anna answered.
Alastor laughed. "Fair point."
"I'm getting a little hungry mind getting some shaved ice?" Anna suggested. It wasn't what Alastor was used too or liked, but he agreed.
"Sound's like berries to me!"
Eventually, the two were now sitting down on a bench eating their shaved ice in silence. Alastor chose Cherry flavored while Anna went with Blueberry. Every once in a while, Anna would glance over at Alastor before looking away when he noticed her looking at him.
"Have your parents ever told you that it's rude to stare?" Alastor asked. "Something on your mind, darling?"
"Well, you know some stuff about me. But, I hardly know anything about you, besides your mom. Like did you do in your past life, when you were alive? How did you end up here?" Anna asked, curious.
Alastor tensed as the remains of his cone fell to the ground. "You are asking some very dangerous questions."
"I still want to know." Anna insisted.
 "Why?" Alastor questioned.
"Don't you want to be redeemed as well?" Anna asked. Alastor laughed.
"Darling, I'm far from redeemable!" Alastor said. "If you know of the despicable things I've done. You would be repulsed!"
"Try me." Anna replied. Alastor twitched, a little irritated. He sighed and started.
"Very well, then. I was a very popular radio star in New Orleans. I gave daily announcements about news and events. One of my most famous reports was a serial killer."
"Really? Did they ever catch him?" Anna asked.
Alastor laughed. "You can say that. You're sitting right next to him!"
Anna's eyes widen and she nervously swallowed. "Y-You're a serial killer?"
"Yes. Now you know my dirty past." Alastor rolled his eyes. "Any more questions?"
 "Why?" Anna asked.
 "Why, what?" Alastor questioned.
"Why did you do it?" Anna asked.
Alastor shrugged. "Well, at first for a while, it was abusers, rapists, anyone who were lost causes. But, soon I had a craving for more. Pretty much every other week there was a killing." He finished while Anna listened, taking in everything that he had told her.
"Alastor," Anna said. "Most of those people were murderers. You probably saved a lot more lives than you took."
"You think so?" Alastor laughed. "Well, I hate to break it got you, my dear. But, you are wrong. It wasn't my place to judge for their actions." Even he couldn't believe the words that escaped from his mouth.
"Surely, you must feel a little remorse?" Anna pressed. "Even a little?"
"No, not a bit." Alastor answered.
Then Alastor noticed the strange red dot again as it appeared on Anna. He made a strained smile. This was getting annoying! He briskly signaled his shadows, while Anna was looking away, that were hiding, to find out where it was coming from. His shadows immediately took off, darting away to the source. High on top of the ferris wheel, Blitzo was aiming a rifle at Anna setting it's scope on her.
"I got you now, bitch!" Blitzo shouted.
As Blitzo was about to squeeze the trigger, several dark shadows loomed over the three imps.
"Holy shit!" Blitzo screamed. The shadows lunged at the three terrified imps.
"They belong to the radio demon!" Millie cried out.
"This is not worth risking our lives over, sir!" Moxxie screamed out.
"OH HELL NO!" Blitzo shouted. FUCK THIS! SCATTER!"
The three imps desperately tried to get away from the shadows as they bailed out from the passenger car. Now falling from a great height and hurling towards the ground, landing right onto an inflatable bounce house. It began to deflate as screaming kids were trying to get out.
Then a thick blue book fell landing right in front of Charlie and Vaggie who were walking nearby.
"Hey, what's that?" Vaggie asked. Charlie's picked it up, examining it. Her eyes widened in surprise. The latin labeling on the cover gave it away. It was indeed the book. She glanced over at Vaggie who was looking at her, waiting.
"Uh, nothing!" Charlie quickly answered. "Absolutely, nothing!"
"Hon,-" Then Vaggie stopped as she saw Alastor and Anna approaching as they headed towards them. The princess quickly hid the book behind her back. Vaggie walked over to them. Charlie looked behind her to see Razzle and Dazzle.
"Take this and hide it away for now." She whispered to them. Her two goat pets took the book and ran off heading towards the limo as everyone got ready to leave.
A s everyone left, the three jumps crawled out from the popped deflated bounce house.
"oh, nice job, sir. You lost the book." Moxxie groaned.
"Shut the fuck up, Moxxie!" Blitzo growled.

Falling in Love
Summary: Sam has been in love with Y/N for quite a while and he does everything to win her heart. Square filled: Courting/courtship rituals (spntfwbingo) // Free Space (spnsongchallengebingo: Kiss me - Ed Sheeran) Pairing: Sam x Reader Word count: 4,624 Warnings: fluff and only fluff A/N: this was written for @spntfwbingo and @spnsongchallengebingo! I really enjoyed writing this one. This story was mildly inspired by The Vampire Diaries 3.14. The gifs are mine (I just learned how to make and I’m so happy). Oh, and this is the dress in case you’re wondering. Hope you enjoy it!

The sound of your heels echoed through the hall as you walked out of the elevator and headed to your office. The small chatter, the non stop pacing and the tired eyes were common things on Monday mornings.
“Good morning, Olivia,” you greeted your personal assistant as you stopped by her desk.
“Good morning, Y/N,” her lips curled into a sweet smile. “How was your weekend?”
“Oh, you know, just lots of work. I’ve been working on this case and the court hearing is next week so it’s taking a toll on me. Other than that I binged watch The Walking Dead,” you shrugged. “How about you? Did you go out with Thomas?”
“I did,” she sighed as she finished typing. “He’s not that fun. I think we just didn’t click.”
“That sucks.”
“Yep, but I had fun this weekend. Had some quality ‘me’ time. Although I need to catch up on The Walking Dead,” she chuckled.
“You do. It’s really great. I’m loving it.”
“Morning, gorgeous,” his voice echoed in your ears as he walked past you.
“Morning, ass,” you said as you turned to him, only to see his back as he headed to his office.
“Morning to your ass, too,” Sam said before shutting his door and winking at you.
“When are you going to give him a chance?”
“Never?” you scoffed.
“C’mon, Y/N,” Olivia nearly whined. “Sam likes you and deep down you like him too.”
“Liv, we work together. It would never work.”
“We work together and we are still friends,” she argued, crossing her arms in front of her chest.
“It’s different and you know it,” you sighed. “Alrighty, guess I have to get my work started then. Oh and get us some coffee, please.”
“Roger that.”
She stood up and headed to the coffee machine down the hall as you walked towards your office. You opened the door and the first thing your eyes landed on was the bouquet of pink and orange-ish roses sitting on your desk. As usual, there was a champagne envelope in the middle of them. You opened and again you found yourself amazed by his calligraphy.
You look gorgeous today, Y/N. As always. Fondly, Sam
A smile made its way to your lips as you read his words. He was so sweet. A good way to start your day.
After turning on your computer, you sent Olivia a message, asking her to get you a vase. You placed the envelope in your purse. Once you get home, you’re going to put it in your box along with all the notes and letters he had sent you.
Although you only met Sam on your first day working on Winchester’s Legal Firm, your mother was friends with Mary. After you graduated from Harvard she told Mary you were a lawyer looking for a job. John contacted you and set up a job interview.
The first time you walked in the building, you were mesmerized. It was enormous. It looked exactly like a law firm from the tv shows you used to watch. On your first day, John introduced you to Sam, his youngest son who had chosen to stay in the family business. At the time, it had been three years since he’d graduated from Stanford. Sam helped you get settled in and showed you around the firm.
You had started small. At first you got small cases and sometimes a more experienced lawyer would help you out and guide you. John made sure you got help from the best lawyers in the company. Sometimes you felt like you were treated differently because you were the daughter of a friend, but when you brought it up to him, he denied. He said he did that for everyone starting in his company. You knew that wasn’t true.
Nowadays you work on cases that appear on the news. Your face appeared on tv a few times. You found it odd when you saw yourself on the news during prime time. Your mom would always send a picture of the screen of her television with you in it, telling you she was proud. Sam did that sometimes too. He’d shoot you a message saying how beautiful you were or how your voice sounds so perfect when it echoes in his home.
A soft knock on your door pulled your attention away from your screen.
“C’mon in,” the door opened and revealed Olivia with the vase you asked.
“Wow, these are gorgeous,” she said as her eyes landed on the bouquet. “And smell good too.”
“Yeah, they do,” you smiled, placing the flowers in the vase. “I bet his PA chose these ones. He usually gets me blue roses or dahlias or even sunflowers,” you shrugged.
“Trust me, he chose these,” she said. “I have known Sam Winchester since I was fifteen, he wouldn’t ask for someone else to buy flowers for the girl he likes.”
“He doesn’t like me, Liv,” you shook your head. “He likes flirting with me. He likes courting me like I’m some damsel,” you explained to her with a roll of your eyes. “He likes the idea of me. That’s it.”
“Sure, Y/N, keep telling yourself that,” she sighed exasperated. “You need anything?” you shook your head and she walked out of your office.
You had much more important things to focus on than Sam’s feelings for you and his attempts to win your heart.
When you first met Sam, he was shy and mostly quiet, but as the time passed, he became more comfortable around you. Then you both started flirting and joking around. When feelings started to get in the way, things escalated to another level. Whilst Sam grew more caring and started trying to win your heart, you tried to put some distance between you. Sam is adorable and he’s a boyfriend material, but you worked together. You worked for his father. Sam never gave up though you gave him every reason why it wasn’t going to work. He didn’t even bother to hide his feelings from others. Everyone knew he liked you and that he bought you flowers every now and then. Sam has been courting you for about a year now. You enjoyed everything he did for you. He bought you nice gifts — some of which were really expensive — along with cute notes or letters. Every now and then something would be delivered at your home or your office. At the beginning, you tried to return it to him, but he wouldn’t take it back, so you stopped bothering.
Later that day, you heard familiar soft knocks on the door. You muttered a ‘come in’ as you looked through the papers scattered on your desk.
“Hey,” he smiled, shutting the door behind him. “How you doing?”
Sam was wearing his graphite suit with a marigold tie. He looked so damn good in those. It should be a crime.
“Hey,” you glanced up at him, eyes meeting his hazel ones. “I’m tired and stressed. You?”
“I’m okay,” he sat on your desk. “Still working on that murder case?”
“Yeah,” you stretched as a yawn left your lips. “I have to be in court again next Tuesday. Can’t wait to get this over with.”
He smiled sympathetically. His hazel eyes roamed around the room in search of something you couldn’t quite point out.
“D’you like it?” his head motioned to the flowers that were now decorating your bookcase.
“I did. They are gorgeous,” you stood from your seat, walking towards the shelf. “Your assistant knows which ones to buy,” you scoffed.
“What makes you think Charlie bought these?” he asked, standing beside you.
“Well, you certainly don’t have the time to go out and buy a bouquet of flowers for me, Winchester.”
“I do. It takes some time to choose which one I think you’d like better, but it’s worth it,” he shrugged. “Also, I really aced the color of the flowers. See, they match your clothes,” a cocky smile hung on his lips as his fingers motioned to your clothes.
He was right. It did match. You were wearing a cream bow neck blouse and bright pink pants along with nude heels.
“This one is the same color as your pants,” he pointed and you chuckled. “You coming to the ball next Saturday?”
“I dunno,” you pursed your lips, heading back to your desk. “I’m not really in the mood and I don’t have a fancy gown.”
“You should come. It’s the company’s 50th anniversary. My mom has been planning this party for a long time and she would love to see you there,” he tried to convince you. “As for the dress, that can be arranged.”
“Sam, don’t,” you warned him with wide eyes.
“Argh, fine,” he sighed. “I should probably let you get back to work.”
————
You unlocked the door to your home. A feeling of relief washing through your body as you stepped inside. There was nothing better than coming home after an exhausting day of work.
Relaxing on the shower, you washed your body. The stress leaving you with every stroke of your loofah over your skin. You needed this. After drying yourself and putting on some baggy clothes, you headed to the kitchen to make yourself dinner.
The doorbell rang. You jumped and then frowned. You weren’t expecting anyone. Opening the door, you noticed no one was there, but a paper bag was on your doorstep. You picked it up and brought it inside. You opened and a paper with his gorgeous handwriting sat on top of the things he bought.
Olivia told me you needed these...
Inside the paper bag there were some chocolate bars, gummy bears, chips and protein bars. At the bottom, you found a box of ibuprofen and another of ketoprofen along with another note.
Thought you might need these too. Also, in case you want something warm to cuddle and keep the pain away, text me and I’ll grab my pillow and come over ;p
You smiled at his words. He was so caring. It was the first time he did this kind of thing. As much as you were in complete awe over his endearment, you were also pissed that he knew when you were on your period. Damn you, Liv.
You thanked him over text and said you had a heating pad to cuddle and it was pretty capable of keeping the pain away, teasing him. Sam… he cared too much about you. He was investing his time and spending his money in a possible relationship that didn’t have a future.
---------
The days flew as you kept yourself busy with your big case and a few small ones. After the court hearing, everything became lighter. You had won the case and the defendant was given a life sentence without the possibility of parole. You were happy with how that had turned out.
As Saturday came closer, all everyone talked about was the company’s anniversary party. A part of you wanted to go. You needed to let yourself loose a little and spending some time with your colleagues outside of work would be great. But another part of you wanted to stay home, relaxing on your bathtub and binge-watching your favorite tv show. You still haven’t decided yet.
Every year, Mary and John threw fancy parties for the company’s anniversary. This time it’s going to be even fancier. A ball for its fiftieth birthday. It was a big deal so it deserved a bigger celebration. You understood that, but you didn’t like going to balls. You didn’t even have a long fancy dress to begin with. And you weren’t so sure you’d have fun at such a formal event. Olivia said she’d lend you a dress. She was the same size as you so it would fit, but you still weren’t sure if you were going to go.
You finished typing in your computer just as your clock marked it was time to go home. Fridays were usually busy and stressful, but not today and for that you were glad. Grabbing your purse, you walked out of the building and went straight for your car, starting the engine. You couldn’t wait to get home. Everyone had a day off tomorrow because of the party. You had less than twenty four hours to decide whether you should go or not. For now, at least until you get home, you will ignore the messages asking if you were going. They will know when you decide. And for them, you mean Sam, Olivia, and Mary.
Mary was friends with your mother. Although you only met her later when you filled an application to work in her firm, she liked you a lot. When you were a teenager you had heard many stories of her and your mom about their high school years. You had seen many pictures of her, but never had seen her in person. She cared a lot about you. She’d always tell you to give her son a chance. She said he deserved a person like you, but you just brushed it off and told her it wouldn’t work and he would only get hurt.
As you parked your car, you noticed a maroon package on your doorstep. Your eyebrows knitted into a frown. That was odd. You haven't ordered anything. You picked it up and walked inside. After locking the door and placing your purse over the counter, you headed to your room with the box in your hands. This could only be Sam. You placed it in your bed. It was a beautiful box, it had a cream satin ribbon tied into a bow. You sucked in a deep breath before opening it. What did he buy you this time?, you wondered.
Opening the box, a sapphire blue gown revealed itself before your eyes. You gasped. Sam had bought you expensive stuff before, but this was on a whole new level. You stared wide-eyed at the dress folded beautifully. You couldn’t find it in you to touch it. Slowly, your fingers reached for the satin, grazing over the material. This couldn’t be real. He didn’t do that. He couldn’t. At this point, you didn’t even want to know how much it cost him. Reluctantly, you took the gown in your hands, removing from the box. It was one of the most beautiful dresses you had ever seen. A cream envelope rested at the bottom of the box. Your name was written in a neat handwriting. You opened it and read the letter.
Save me a dance. Yours, Sam.
A smaller paper with his handwriting followed.
Olivia told me your size. Hope it fits. If it doesn’t, give me a call. I’m looking forward to seeing you tomorrow night.
You stared fixed at the smaller note, slack-jawed. He has really gone through all that effort just to get you a gown for a ball you didn’t even know you were going. Well, now you had to despite wanting to go or not. Sam had really outdone himself this time.
Sam had bought you jewelry before and you were sure it was expensive as hell. Sometimes he brought your favorite dish to your office so you’d stop working and have lunch. He knew if he didn’t do that, you’d spend the afternoon without eating because you were too busy. He got flowers delivered to your office and to your home. He left you sticky notes just to let you know he was thinking about you. Once he met this guy that could draw realistic things and he asked him to draw you. He showed him his favorite picture of you and the man drew you. At the bottom of the paper, it said ‘this feels like falling in love’. Sam was everything you could ask for in a guy. Sometimes you wonder why you just didn’t let him all the way in. He had the potential to destroy you in ways no one ever could. That scared you.
————
Saturday had started just like any other day. Except it felt as if it was actually Sunday because you had the day off. You went grocery shopping and used some of your free time to clean your apartment. Although you didn’t like to admit it, you were nervous about tonight. You were afraid of meeting Sam in a tux and feeling something different when you looked at him. You had tried for so long to keep your feelings shutted down and buried in the bottom of your heart. Now they were just all over the place. They were on the gorgeous gown in the box. They were on the blue roses in your living room, on the bright pink roses in your office. They were on the face masks he bought you, on the bath bombs he knew you liked. They were impregnated on the necklaces and earrings in your drawer. Your home had pieces of him everywhere. Most important, he was in your mind and heart.
After a relaxing bath, you put on your robe and placed your make-up on the counter. You didn’t want to do something heavy but you also didn’t want something too light. As your hair dried out, you started working on your make-up. Your skin was already moisturized so you prepared it with primer before applying a light coat of foundation. Then concealer for a light coverage, followed by foundation powder, a bit of bronzer and blush here and there, and highlighter. So far, you were satisfied with the results. You opened your eyeshadow pallete and opted for lighter shades. After curling your eyelashes, you wriggle the brush of your favorite mascara across the roots of your lashes. Then you applied your favorite lipstick over your lips and finalized your makeup with setting spray. By the time you finished, your hair had almost completely dried out.
Your heart started to pound in your chest as you entered your bedroom. You stared at the gown that was now on hanger. It seemed that it would tear itself apart if you touched it. It was so beautiful. Silvery jewels along the bodice. Thin blue straps only made it look even more delicate. The long, sapphire blue, silk-pleated skirt had you swooning.
You shrugged off your robe, pooling around your feet, and walked towards the dress. Your fingers brushed over its skirt. Sucking in a deep breath, you removed the gown of the hanger and put it on. It fitted perfectly, just like you anticipated. You walked to the full length mirror and were mesmerized. Jaw-slacked, you absorbed all the details of the gown. It felt as if it was designed just for you. The color blue looked good on you. The gown hugged your body in all its smoothness. You turned a little to get a full glance, the skirt swooned around your ankles. In that moment, you have never felt so beautiful.
After waking up from your trance, you knew exactly which heels to put on. Few months ago, you bought this pair of white heels that held a little bit of silver and were extremely comfortable. They probably wouldn’t be visible, but they matched the dress perfectly. You picked a delicate necklace Sam gave you to go along.
Your hair was done in no time. You had opted for pinning it up in a loose and edgy updo. A few loose locks of hair graced your face.
You called an uber and in twenty minutes you found yourself in front of the hotel. A sign pointed to the right indicated the ball was that way. You took a deep breath before walking in that direction. Deep down, you were nervous, but you were also confident about the way you looked. This time you might actually fit in.
Your eyes widened as you stepped foot into the room. The decoration was in shades of gold and white with a little silvery here and there. Your eyes searched for him in the crowded room. It was inevitable. Everytime you’d walk into a room you knew Sam was in, your eyes wouldn’t stop roaming around the area in search of him. They found him. He wore a shiny black tuxedo along with a black tie. It fitted his body perfectly and only made his shoulder look broader. In other words, he was hot as hell.
In a matter of seconds, Sam’s hazel eyes found yours. His gaze fixed on you. He had to use every last ounce of his strength to not to gasp. Yet, his lips parted. How did you manage to look even more beautiful? Sam couldn’t hear what his coworkers were talking about. He couldn’t hear the music playing. His attention was solely on you. Your lips curled into a smile as you held up your hand and mouthed a “hi” before making your way to Mary and John.
“Y/N,” Mary beamed, hugging you. “You look beautiful, sweetie. I’m so glad you came.”
“Yeah, I’m glad too,” you smiled.
“Please, help yourself. I think your friends are here already. If you need anything, just look for us,” she winked, leaving to welcome other guests.
Before you had the chance to walk to your friends, Sam approached you, offering you a glass of champagne.
“You look stunning tonight,” his eyes glistening as he stared at you.
“Thank you,” you smiled, as you sipped at your glass. “For everything. I mean, if you didn’t buy me this gown, I wouldn’t be here.”
“Oh, you know, I was just passing by then I saw this dress on a shop window and thought of you.”
“Yeah, right. Keep telling yourself that,” you scoffed. “I think I owe you a dance, don’t I?”
“You do,” he smiled, placing yours and his empty glasses on a table nearby.
You noticed him signaling to someone, before he held out his hand. You gladly took it and let him walk you to the center of the room. A few people were dancing. The song ended and a slower one filled your ears. One you knew too well. Your lips curled into a smile.
His right hand made its way to your lower back. Your left hand resting on his shoulder as the other held his big, rough hand. As your eyes met his hazel orbs, everyone seemed to dissolve around you.
Settle down with me Cover me up Cuddle me in Lie down with me And hold me in your arms
The rhythm of the song guided your movements. For the first time, you were nervous around Sam Winchester. He pulled you a little closer and you couldn’t stop yourself from smiling.
And your heart's against my chest, your lips pressed in my neck I'm falling for your eyes, but they don't know me yet And with a feeling I'll forget, I'm in love now
“Someone once sent me a playlist they created with songs that reminded them of me. This song was the first one and they said it was their favorite,” you teased.
“I wonder who that is,” he smirked.
“Oh, you know, just some guy I happen to have a thing for.”
Kiss me like you wanna be loved You wanna be loved You wanna be loved
The warm pressure of his hand on the small of your back made uncontrollable feelings surge through your body. You were overwhelmed. You had let him in. All the way in. Sam Winchester has won your heart. There was no holding back now. Your body was acting on its own, it was at his mercy.
He leaned his head closer to yours. “This feels like falling in love. Falling in love. We're falling in love,” he whispered ever so softly against your ear.
Settle down with me And I'll be your safety You'll be my lady I was made to keep your body warm But I'm cold as the wind blows so hold me in your arms
You drew him closer to you. It felt as if you couldn’t get enough of him. Your eyes glistened as you stared at his beautiful face.
Oh no My heart's against your chest, your lips pressed in my neck I'm falling for your eyes, but they don't know me yet And with this feeling I'll forget, I'm in love now
He was so close. His breath fanning at your cheeks. Once again you let him sway your body around and around, your gown billowing out. His face was perfect. His hazel eyes held a spark every time he looked at you. His slightly parted lips only made you want to taste them. You love him. Simple as that.
Kiss me like you wanna be loved You wanna be loved You wanna be loved This feels like falling in love Falling in love We're falling in love
You couldn’t refrain your eyes from staring at his pink lips. They were so kissable. You were drawn to them.
“If someone had said to me a guy would spend a whole year courting me and trying to make his way to my heart, I’d have laughed and then punched them.”
“Well, you deserve to be courted,” he shrugged. “If you let me, I’ll spend the rest of our lives worshiping you.”
You continued to dance and spin around the room. You were amazed at yourself for not squishing his foot under your own not even once. The lights seemed to twinkle with every step as you spun delicately.
Yeah I've been feeling everything From hate to love From love to lust From lust to truth I guess that's how I know you So I hold you close to help you give it up
As the song came closer to its end, Sam raised his hand to your upper-middle back. He applied a gentle pressure to your back to let you know he wanted to dip you. You trusted him completely to not let you fall. You were safe in his arms. He mildly lowered you backward.
So kiss me like you wanna be loved You wanna be loved You wanna be loved This feels like falling in love Falling in love We're falling in love
Your eyes were locked. His hazel orbs glistened as they seemed to stare deep into your soul. Your whole body ignited with something you’ve never felt before. His pupils dilated as he took in every trace of your face, every detail. Your breath was caught in your throat. Your eyes remained lost in his as he pulled you back up with him. Your breasts pressed firm to his chest.
Both of his hands were placed on your hips now as you wrapped your arms around his neck. You smiled before capturing his lips into a passionate kiss. The whole world fell away once again. Your brain was lit on fire as a warm spread through your entire body.
Kiss me like you wanna be loved You wanna be loved You wanna be loved This feels like falling in love Falling in love We're falling in love
He managed to pull you closer to him until there was no space between you. Until you could feel his heart beating against your chest. His tongue grazed over your lower lip and at your granted access he delved into your mouth. The caress and the strokes of his tongue were softer than you could have imagined. You could never have enough of him. He was intoxicating, but in a good way. You felt his lips curl into a smile before you parted.
“We’re falling in love,” you whispered between panting breaths before pecking his lips once again.

Chapter 2: Take a Night...
“Michael Vincent Jones,” the detective said as he tossed a hefty file on the metal table in front of a handcuffed Charlie, “aka, Mogar. Wanted for assault, gunrunning, grand larceny, grand theft auto-,”
“Love that game,” Michael interrupted.
“-murder, manslaughter, possession of a whole ton of illegal firearms and a much, much longer list of things I don’t want to list off because I have better things to do with my time. All of this in the Lone Star State,” the detective said. He leaned close to Michael and growled, “What are you doing in Gotham?”
“Sightseeing,” Michael snarled back at him.
“Right,” the detective agreed sarcastically, “You here with the Fake AH Crew?”
“I’m on vacation,”
“You rob banks while on vacation?” the other detective in the interrogation room asked.
“You have your hobbies…” Michael shrugged.
“You’re gonna have to give us something other than this vacation bullshit.” the first detective said rather threateningly.
“Don’t I get a phone call before you try to beat me?” Michael asked.
The detective grabbed Michael by the collar and lifted him out of the chair, “Listen to me scumbag,” the detective growled, “You’re gonna tell us why you’re really here and where your crew is or we’re gonna give you to-”
“Detective,” a woman’s voice said with authoritative tone. Everyone looked at the entrance to the interrogation room to see a woman with greying black hair wearing a trench coat with a gun and badge strapped to her belt.
“Uhhhh….Commissh?” the detective holding Michael asked, not putting the criminal down. The Commissioner looked at the detectives, then at Michael, then back at the detectives.
“He’s on his way,” she said before leaving.
“Who’s on his way? My lawyer?” Michael asked as the detective put him back in the chair, “Is it my dad?” he called as the detectives let the room and closed the door. Michael sat in silence or a moment before saying “Maybe it’s my mom,”
“Okay, you a get a million dollars but every piece of furniture you interact with is that breakaway stunt furniture from movies,” a British man with a large nose said. He wore a blue dress shirt and pants, sunglasses were holstered to a pocket on his chest. He sat in the passenger seat of a car parked across the street from a garage entrance. Above the garage door it said GCPD Parking.
“Every piece of furniture?” the man in the driver’s seat asked. He wore a white dress shirt with a dark vest, tie and pants.
“Every piece,” the British man explained.
“So, what if I’m really careful getting into bed? Will it collapse after I go to sleep?”
“No, it’ll collapse,”
“Damn...I don’t think I can do it, Gavin,” the man in the driver’s seat said, “I couldn’t go hang out with anyone without breaking their furniture!”
“You’re usually so careful Trevor. You might not break anything,” Gavin explained.
“I’d be way too stressed out that the slightest touch would collapse the table I’m setting a drink down on,” Trevor explained.
“It’d be like the most stressful game of Jenga,” Gavin joked.
“Exactly!” Trevor laughed.
The laughter abruptly stopped when they felt the car start vibrating.
“Why is the car-?” Trevor asked before they heard something roar.
In the street in front of them, they saw a large vehicle swing in front of them and screech to a halt, facing the parking garage across the street. From what they could see of the vehicle, the rear had larger tires than the car Trever and Gavin sat in, and had a shell-like cover between the sets of the wheels. Below the cover was a large burner exhaust they could see heat emanating out of it.
“Hole….ly...shit,” Trevor gasped.
“That’s the Batmobile?” Gavin asked, leaning over the dashboard, “It looks like a tank had a baby with a Porsche or a Lambo,”
“Why do you think he’s just parked there?” Trevor asked after a moment of the Batmobile not moving, Gavin just shrugged.
Shortly after, the Batmobile began moving forward, rolling down the ramp toward the parking garage. As the car approached the large metal garage door it began to open, rattling as it the rows of links ascended and rolled back into the ceiling.
“Go, go, go, go!” Trevor whispered as he grabbed a satchel from the back seat and got out of the car with Gavin. The two moved to the edge of the ramp as the Batmobile entered the garage, as the Batmobile passed the garage door it bagan to close. They proceeded down the ramp as the Batmobile turned right and ventured down another ramp. The gate was about half way closed before they got close.
“Gavin!” Trevor hissed.
“On it,” he said as he outstretched his arm. His hand began to glow with a pale green aura and the garage door suddenly slowed to an almost standstill and gained the same pale green aura as Gavin. Trevor ducked under the door, followed by Gavin, keeping his hand trained on the door as he ducked under. Once inside, Gavin’s hand stopped glowing as he put it down and the door resumed closing at it’s normal speed.
The two followed the ramp down to their right, descending down deeper into the GCPD Parking Lot. They stuck to the walls of the garage and duck behind the police cruisers parked inside, even though they didn’t see anyone else. They travelled down three floors before reaching the bottom of the garage. It was a roundabout looking base, it was completely circular with a small set of stairs leading up to a set of doors with a sign that had an elevator symbol above them. The Batmobile was parked parallel to the doors, it’s left side facing Trevor and Gavin as they hid behind a police cruiser and looked around.
“See anyone?” Gavin asked.
“No, let’s go,” Trevor said.
They cautiously approached the Batmobile, Trevor pulled a collapsed drone out the stachel. The two looked over the car with confused expressions.
“Where do I even put this?” Trevor asked.
Gavin kneeled on the ground and looked under the car, “Here?” he suggested, pointing under the car’s armor and chassis. Trevor kneeled down and reached under the car. He made faces as he moved his arm around until he felt the drone magnetically stick to something.
“Now, let’s hope that doesn’t fall off,” Trevor said before he noticed Gavin giggling, “What?”
“What was with the faces?” he asked, still laughing.
“Listen, a man’s face does weird things when he’s focused on sticking something in someone’s undercarriage,” Trevor explained.
“Whatever, let’s leg it,” Gavin laughed, standing.
Batman was brooding as the elevator played cheerful music. Cassandra didn’t know why they needed to play the music in an elevator that only police took, but she didn’t really care. The elevator dinged and the doors opened and Batman was greeted by the sight of Commissioner Wayne.
“You changed the garage codes,” Batman noted, the voice distorter still active.
“We had a Joker attack this week, what did you think I was going do?” the Commissioner retorted. She turned and led Batman to the interrogation rooms, taking him inside one of the adjacent rooms. Inside was a one-way mirror window that let them observe the interrogation room next door. The bank robber Batman caught hours earlier sat handcuffed. He looked bored out of his mind.
“Name’s Michael Jones. Jersey native, moved to Tyler, Texas when he decided to become a career criminal,” the Commissioner explained, “Runs with a crew called the Fake Achievement Hunter Crew, mostly they commit robberies and other kinds of theft,”
“Where’s his crew?” Batman asked, watching Michael pick his nose.
“We don’t know, he won’t talk,” she said.
“He will to me,” Batman stated.
“Cass,” the Commissioner said, “these guys are crazy,”
“We’ve dealt with crazy,”
“No, I’m not talking about Joker and his cult, or Pyg or even Ivy. These guys don’t steal stuff to make a profit or plan to take over the world,” the Commissioner explained, “They do it for the bragging right,”
“Bragging rights? Really?”
“Yeah. They once stole a fighter jet from a military base just because someone online challenged them to do it,” she explained.
“I’ll stop them Helena.” Batman said matter of factly. Helena Wayne stared at Batman for a moment, “What?” he asked when he noticed.
“It’s kinda scary how similar you are to Dad sometimes,” Helena explained.
“I try to live up to his example,” Cassandra explained, not turning off her voice distorter.
“I know,” Helena said, “I’ll kill the lights so you can do your thing,”
Commissioner Wayne turned and flicked a switch on a nearby console and the lights in the interrogation room turned off.
“Hey! Who turned off the lights?” Michael called out. Helena heard a thump, “Fuck!” Michael shouted and she turned the lights back on. Inside the interrogation room, Batman had dented the table with Michael’s head and held it there.
“I miss doing that,” Helena said.
“Where’s your crew?” Batman demanded.
“Up your ass,” Michael retorted.
Batman slammed Michael’s head into the table again, “Tell me,”
“I did. You’re gonna need a proctologist,” Michael chuckled.
Helena began to hear a commotion outside in the bullpen, “What the hell is going on now?” she sighed. She left the room and saw her officers and detectives arguing with a man.
The man was about five and a half feet tall and wore a faded blue dress shirt with a police badge on a metal chain around his neck. He had dark brown hair and a full beard.
“And who are you?” Commissioner Wayne asked.
“I’m Detective Tapp,” the shorter one stated in what sounded like a Boston accent.
This is going to be a long night, Helena thought to herself.
“Okay, detective,” Helena sighed, using the term ‘detective’ loosely, “What are you doing here?”
“Got word you arrested one of the Fake AH boys,” Detective Tapp explained, “I’ve been followin’ them from Texas. They’ve been robbin’ all the way up here,”
“Well, they robbed a branch of Gotham Trust. Made off with ten thousand dollars,” the commissioner explained, motioning for the detective to follow her. She pulled out her phone and texted someone before stopping away from her officers, “Why are you following them?”
“They’re my beat. Been tryin’ to get something to pin’em for years,” Tapp explained.
“They don’t seem that good at hiding who they are or who did the crime,”
“True. But someone keeps posting their bail,”
“Who?” the commissioner asked. There was a moment of awkward silence as the detective was suddenly interested in his shoes.
“We...don’t know,” Detective Tapp admitted.
“Well, we’ll know in a few minutes,” Commissioner Wayne said, “Batman will get Jones to spill their beans shortly,”
“Jones? Michael or Lindsay?” Tapp asked.
“Michael Jones? Why does it matter?”
“Batman can’t crack Jones,” Tapp said, “Man’s like ten bears in a human body. He’s tough,”
“We’ve had a lot of people like that here, Tapp,” the commissioner said.
“You read his file?” Tapp asked.
“Yeah, man’s cuckoo for Coco-Puffs. I believe in Batman getting info out of him,”
“Is he beatin’ Jones?” Tapp asked. There was an awkward silence between the two of them, “I’ll take that as a yes,”
“Listen, Jones is the Fake AH Crew’s go-to fixer. Beating him isn’t gonna work,” Detective Roger Davis explained.
“Let me guess, you have a plan?”
“Eat shit you pointy-ea-,” Michael said before being punched. He was face up on the heavily dented metal table, he was bleeding a little bit out of his nose.
“Tell where your crew is before I start breaking bones,” Batman growled.
Someone about Michael was off to Batman. On the road, his body language told him he wanted to escape. He did everything he could to prevent himself from being captured. His body told Cass everything; he’s a fighter, he’s confrontational and really enjoys alcohol, but now he wants to be here. Why?
“Alright!” a male voice behind Batman called. He turned and saw a men with the Commissioner. He presented himself as a detective like the commissioner, but he was something else too, Cass could tell.
“Oh goddammit. Not this guy,” Michael groaned in annoyance after seeing who was in the doorway.
“Batman. A word?” the commissioner said. Batman let Michael go and followed the commissioner out of the interrogation room, leaving the man alone with Michael.
“What’s going on? Batman asked.
“He’s a detective from Tyler, Texas. Been going after the Fake AH Crew for years,” the commissioner explained.
“He’s not very good at it,” Batman said.
“No, but I had Tim verify his identity and it check out,” Commissioner Wayne explained, “He’s going to offer Michael a deal,”
“A deal?”
“Yeah. In exchange for where his crew is-,” the commissioner ware interrupted by intense shouting and crashing sounds from the interrogation room. Helena drew her gun as she and Batman approached the door to the room. They got within a few feet of it before it was kicked off its hinges by Michael.
“Freeze!” the commissioner ordered, aiming her weapon at Michael.
Michael ignored her as Batman charged at him, throwing batarangs ahead of him. Michael dodged the batarangs, Batman punched him in the face as he dodged. Michael didn’t budge.
Michael smiled as he jabbed something into Batman’s abdomen. Cass felt prongs pierce her suit and then an intense, hot prickling sensation spike across her body from the prongs. Michael dug the taser in deeper before punching her across the room.
Batman crashed into several desks, he felt his head go through a computer monitor as he slid across the desk tops. He slammed into the wall on the other side of the room. Everything hurt.
As Batman staggered up from the floor, there was a loud CRASH and the sound of a wall breaking. He looked up to see a large hole where a window used to be. Running over to the hole, he looked out onto the street, Michael was no where to be seen.
“What the hell happened in there?!” Commissioner Wayne demanded as Detectives Tapp limped out of the interrogation room.
“Why’re you yellin’ at me for? You didn’t properly restrain him!” Tapp groaned.
“He was cuffed! He had no weapons or tools!”
“He’s part Amazon! You think some steel handcuffs are gonna stop him?” Tapp yelled.
“And you didn’t think to share that information?!”
“It’s in his file!” Tapp exclaimed.
“That does not matter!” Batman interjected, sounding almost like a demon with his voice distorter, “He got out. We need to search for him and his crew,” he said, he turned toward the commissioner, “I will head back to the Cave and see what I can dig up. You,” he turned toward Detective Tapp, “tell her everything you know about the Fake AH Crew,” he said before heading toward the elevator.
Michael ran down a nearby alley and stopped.
“Where the fuck did they park?” he asked no one. Michael ran down the street around the GCPD building, keep his head down and hiding in the shadows. He eventually made it to an alley that faced the garage door of the precinct. He looked down the alley and found a car running in the alley.
“Hey-o!” Michael said, getting in the backseat of the car.
“Michael boi!” Gavin said.
“How’d it go on your end?” Trevor asked.
“Great. Got my ass beat by Batman,” Michael said as Gavin drove the car out of the alley and away from the GCPD building, “What about you guys?”
“We got the drone on his car, I was surprised he doesn’t have a sensor or something to detect that kind of thing?” Trevor said.
“Dude’s pretty confident,” Michael said, “Can we stop at like a Big Belly Burger before heading back to the warehouse?”

HENRIK LILJENQUIST—
IG info/Bio: @/adventuresbyhenrik | 53.1k followers — “imma wild boi🌿🌏🧗 | happily taken👩‍❤️‍💋‍
23 (24) years old
Parents are both Swedish and only speak Swedish, leaving henrik to also become fluent
His father Halvi is a pilot
His mother Lova is a race car driver
Siblings? Probably a brother, named Jahan & younger by two or three years + they get along quite well
Born & raised in Isle of Wight, England + loves it there & thinks it’s the best place for him to live, it’s his own private island in his mind plus he’s always finding something to do. He stays active
Climbing & wilderness survival instructor, he gets to talk as much as he wants while also teaching people AND all while being active! Sounds like the perfect job for him
Probably developed ADHD around his pre-teen age, leaving his parents to find him something he enjoys + can slow down and focus on
used to be on meds for it
Was well-known in high school, probably in the yearbook club since he was able to run around & get to know people but was kinda shit at knowing the functions of a camera
His selfie game has gotten a lot better now but he mostly posts anything but his face. You’ll see more of his face on his stories & location shots on his feed
Feels his hair is his best physical feature & his prized possession, would never THINK about cutting it. Even just a trim is a bit much for him
Always tries to be positive but at the same time can be condescending since he sometimes won’t pick his words wisely ex.) when he gave MC a backhanded “compliment” about makeup, being active, + wanting them to “think of others ” feelings — just because someone is opposite from you doesn’t mean you have to shit on the way they carry themselves...that’s my issue with him
maybe he’s a Taurus?
Loves fall & spring, more so fall since that’s when the weather feels nicest to him plus allergy season is a REAL bitch
The guy’s real Adventurous & always managing to find something to do. If you’re ever bored just hit him up, he has plenty of recommendations
Family owns a cottage & he’s the one who goes out there more than his own family does! “You should just sell it to me at this point!” He tells his parents over dinner often & it is strongly considered
Has five birds & a husky, when he goes on road trips they’re always with him. Which can get a little hectic at times but they’re his family, he’s a, “birdog dad”
BLAKE secretly dislikes them all, feeling like they take up space sometimes (especially when she wants to cuddle) but she deals with it since she cares for the guy — yes, they’re still dating
She’s been convincing him to cut a few inches off of his hair which he took like a slap in the face, “that’s like me asking you to quit speaking up for humans!” “No, no it’s not.”
They’re polar opposites with flaws which causes disagreements between the two of them by putting each other in their places but they learn to compromise? (*insert eartha Kitt gif laughing here*] if they want this to work
His mother seems to be the only one who dislikes blake (she strongly feels he should have bought MC back home...that’s right she watched the show from time to time. Not always since she doesn’t care for reality tv but her friends encouraged her to watch bits and pieces) while his dad and brother approve
It is tense when Blake and his mom are in the same room which makes Henrik sad since he believes Blake deserves a chance. He took a chance on her and it seems to be going pretty well so why couldn’t his mother just be happy for him like the rest of the family is?
Henrik loves his low-maintenance girls who are open to trying new things with him, Blake is usually down most of the time but she likes her personal space too..which henrik struggles to understand
He wants her to live with him, he’s sure his parents will let him have the cottage if Blake decides to live with him but Blake loves her freedom in Kingston
It’s hidden but I feel like he might be one of those guys that feels like “a woman should follow a man” since that’s what his father installed into his boys— which failed because his wife isn’t just a housewife, she has goals and went after them
I feel like Blake turns to social media almost always to post about her feelings (I can’t remember what I picked the first time around as my occupation but as I’m currently playing I picked human rights campaigner so) but it’s mostly subtle shade & it always goes recognized by fans which brings drama between her, mc x Bobby
Henrik jumps in because what kind of guy would he be if he didn’t have his gf’s back? Doesn’t care for the drama but he & Bobby usually said slick shit to each other in the villa, it’s safe to say they’re not really friends but they’re not enemies either that’s mostly between their gf/wife
Henrik doesn’t care enough about Bobby to dislike him but he won’t put up with his shit any longer and what easier way to do that than online? He feels like they can settle this with a phone call but Blake & MC aren’t with the shits and don’t want their men speaking to each other
Henrik & Bobby eventually have a chat in secret anyways
Henrik warns Blake that this can effect her job status if she doesn’t calm down since she uses social media for her cause
She usually knows when to stop but can’t help it if it slips out sometimes
They talk it out and move on usually with whatever fun idea henrik may have
Owns a ford bronco from the 90’s that used to be his uncle’s who builds tree houses for a living and is still running, a jeep gladitor, or some sort of pickup truck
Knows how to make the best apricot jam
All about saving the bees
Loves animals, probably on his journey to veganism if he’s not already there
We all know this fucking guy likes eating M0sS
“Embarrassing fact” but uh big fan of twilight, feels like Seth Clearwater and him are meant to be best buds but he also stans the Volturi 😷
Him and Lucas of course remained the best of mates, since they live 2 hrs away from each other and are always busy living their lives they always have to plan out when they can hangout but that fails 60% of the time when henrik pops up at Lucas’ job or at his flat not giving him a choice but to hang out
They’re always vacationing together too? Sure Henrik is his own version of low-key while Lucas likes a bit of luxury...they still find a balance to just have a good time regardless if they live different lifestyles...they’re basically married
Always texting if they’re not hanging out, henrik with his memes that Lucas doesn’t understand & Lucas just checking in on henrik’s well being which leads the conversation to many topics
He’s actually cool with Gary now? They like/comment on each other’s posts & even text here and there
Even ran into Rocco once on a road trip, that was interesting but when life gives you lemons...we’ll just say that
Even him and Ibrahim share recommendations through text or DM’s which is nice! Henrik is always down for friends even tho they’re not like his personal friends (except for Lucas, he fits into his criteria)
Most of his work is physical and talking but he goes the extra mile by hiking every Sunday either with his friends, Blake, or family — he’s genuinely likes being one with nature
If he’s at the cottage, he’s always outside, chopping extra wood, making sure the yard looks like it belongs on a magazine, or takes the boat out on lake to nap since he doesn’t like to fish as much anymore
Currently trying to grow strawberries but some animal keeps eating them :/
Adores adventure time, the x-files, bobs burgers + animal planet, and travel channels—like he’s a real dad
If he could shower outside everyday, he would, it’s such a freeing experience to him
His outings consist of being in the woods 24/7 so in his mind when he brings Blake out there with him, it’s a version of a date, whenever they spend time together is a date to him, which she has to remind him that she wants to do something different like getting dressed up every now and then + go out to dinner which he HATES but he’ll do his best to please her, as long as the restaurant is more earthy than snobby he’s okay
100% would survive the apocalypse, he knows how to make due with what he’s got, he’s always been that way
Enjoys rom-com’s so he’ll laugh at how cringe they are but still enjoy it, indie films, ALITA was the best film of 2019 to him & currently his fav film is, “the call of the wild” with Harrison Ford
His favorite films ever are Indiana Jones, Lara Coft: Tomb raider, Terminator, and I am legend
Aliens ARE real, they’re out there and he’ll be part of the reason they’ve been exposed
I feel like he wanted to be an astronaut growing up but then realized he’d be a confined space for long periods of time and said cancel that shit lol + he isn’t the greatest at science. History? He did real well in that subject
I think he loves Lorde, listens to Bon Iver—especially on early morning commutes to work, Rex Orange County, Omar Apollo, Joji, the nbhd, the driver era, kid cudi...yktfv
Celeb crushes?/types: The main girls from Charlie’s angels 2019, Alexa PenaVega... “you know Carmen from spy kids?” Diana silvers, Dove Cameron, JAMIE CHUNG, & VANESSA HUDGENS
Anthem = Wallows, “OK”

After The Deposit

Pairing: Destiel

Summary:  This is a twin fic that goes along with casbeanwrite's A Safe Deposit This is the same fic from Castiel's point of view, plus the aftermath and a sweet ending. Castiel is a nurse at a fertility clinic. Dean is a sperm donor for his friend Charlie and her wife. They flirt over a cup of Dean's semen and go on their first date.
Castiel was a hard worker throughout his whole life. Some would call him a workaholic, but what could he say? He liked his job. He worked in a fertility clinic as a nurse. There were ups and downs to his job, as there were with any career. He mostly saw couples, women trying to have children, and then there were the men coming in for fertility tests where they would have to make a deposit. Every once in a while, that part was awkward, but he always did his best to make sure everyone felt comfortable and like they weren’t being judged.
Today was different than the usual days. It was all normal until Mr. Green eyes and oh-so-sexy bowlegs walked in. He only felt slightly creepy when he immediately looked up this guy’s file for a name. Dean. He put on his professional face and tried to make Dean comfortable.
The last thing he expected was for Dean to flirt with him . He was surprised and a little embarrassed. This guy was either married or in a committed relationship, so that made this awkward and inappropriate. He brought the magazines Dean asked for and left when he asked, his cheeks flushed pink. He went back to his station to work on some paperwork. That was when his coworker, Balthazar, decided to bother him.
“Hey Cassie. Did you see the stud that just came in?”
“Yes, I did. I was the one who took him back.” Castiel tried to ignore him, but it was no use. Balthazar’s arm was on his shoulder and he was all up in his space.
“You gonna get his number?”
“He’s in a fertility clinic. I’m sure he’s in a very loving and committed relationship.”
Balthazar hummed. “Why don’t you find out what he’s in for?”
Castiel picked up Dean’s file and skimmed over it. Sure enough, he was a donor for someone named Dorothy. She had a patient file here too. Castiel couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed, but he knew it was just part of the job. Dean said he flirted when he was nervous, so he wasn’t really interested in Castiel, he was just weirded out. Castiel ignored Balthazar while he waited for Dean to return.
When Dean did return, he found out that Dean wasn’t trying to get a wife or girlfriend pregnant, he was donating for his lesbian friends. Oh, that was sweet. Too sweet. Of course Dean was stupidly hot and a sweet guy. Getting his number had to be one of the greatest moments of his life.
When he arrived home that evening, he immediately started getting ready. He showered and shaved, leaving a thin layer of stubble. He startled when he turned and his daughter, Claire, was right there in the doorway after he got dressed.
“Do you have a date?”
Castiel smiled a bit. “Maybe.” He was so thankful for the relationship he had with Claire. It was rocky at first after her mother died, but things were better now. She was fifteen now and she had matured a lot over the past five years.
Claire beamed. “Really? Tell me about him or her. What are they like? Where did you meet them?”
Castiel smiled. “His name is Dean. I met him at work.”
“You didn’t tell me they hired someone new.”
“He doesn’t work there.”
“...You’re going a date with a patient?”
“Yes, but he’s single. He was there to donate for his friends, who are lesbians, so they can’t conceive on their own.”
Claire smiled. “That’s sweet. Is he cute?”
“Very.” Castiel finished tying his tie and gave Claire a gentle squeeze of the shoulder as he passed her.
A few hours later, Castiel found himself waiting at a table at a local restaurant. He tapped his foot anxiously as he waited for Dean. When he finally saw him across the restaurant, he couldn’t resist the urge to beam and stand up to make himself more visible.
He wasn’t sure if it would be appropriate to hug Dean or just wave, so with his hand up, he stuck it out for Dean to shake, as if that wasn’t the most awkward thing he had ever done. He felt a slight rush of relief when Dean simply laughed and shook his hand.
“Relax, man. It’s just dinner.”
“Dinner with the man I flirted with over a cup of semen while I was at work.” Castiel sat back down in his seat. “I’ve never been here before.”
“You’ve never been to The Roadhouse? If you like burgers, you’re going to love this.” He sat down across from Castiel and placed his arms on the table, leaning forward with a flirty grin.
Castiel smiled softly. “I do love hamburgers.” His phone dinged and he blushed. “I’m sorry, I know it’s rude to text on a date, but I need to leave my phone on in case my daughter texts me.”
“No, don’t be sorry. Making sure your kid is okay is more important than stupid date etiquette.”
Castiel checked his phone, and sure enough, it was Claire.
Claire Novak
How’s it going? Is he there yet?
Castiel Novak
Great. He just got here. Are you okay?
Claire Novak
I’m fine. I’m just checking in on you. Have fun!
Castiel smiled at his phone and set it aside. “She was just asking if you were here yet.”
Dean nodded. “How old is she?”
“She just turned fifteen.”
“Big birthday. She get her driver’s permit?”
“Oh yeah, she did. I felt bad, because I started crying at the DMV and embarrassed her. She says it wasn’t actually that embarrassing, but it was embarrassing for me.” He blushed. Why was he admitting this on a date?
“That’s sweet. You sound like a really caring father.”
Castiel smiled. Damn, he was just as charming and nice as he was attractive. “Thank you. I try to be. She’s the light of my life. I do everything for her. It hasn’t exactly been easy for her, so she deserves everything I can give her now.” He would have stopped at ‘thank you’, but Dean seemed to be enjoying listening to him, which felt nice.
“How is it that you’re stupidly gorgeous and a great guy all in one?”
Castiel’s cheeks flushed. “You’re saying that about me? I was thinking the same about you. I’ve been thinking that ever since we got here. You’ve let me sit here and blab about my daughter and you’ve barely spoken.”
“Maybe it’s just because I love the sound of your voice. After all, thinking about it is what got me off today.” Dean put a hand over his face. “God, I really can’t control myself around you.”
Castiel laughed softly. “It is pretty entertaining.” He glanced up as the waitress that sat him approaching the table. She grinned at Dean.
“So you finally got a hot date? About time. You gettin’ your usual?”
Dean grinned up at the waitress. “Hell yeah I am. How’re you, Jo?”
“I’m good. Mom’s behind the bar tonight and Ash is bussing tables, as usual.” She looked over at Castiel. “If he gives you any trouble, you tell me and I’ll whoop his ass.”
Castiel smiled. “I’ll be sure to do that, thank you.”
Jo smiled back. “What can I get for you?”
“I’ll just have a water and a cheeseburger with the usual toppings, thank you.”
Jo picked up their menus and left to go get their drinks.
Castiel looked back at Dean. “You must come here a lot.”
“Oh yeah, I’ve come here since I was a teenager. Jo and I went to highschool together. She’s a fireball. Her mom is too. Ash is a cool guy. He’s the one with the mullet. You’ll see him around.”
Castiel nodded. “I’ve talked a lot about my family, tell me about yours.”
“Well, not much to say. I don’t have a lot of family. There’s my little brother, Sammy. He lives out in Palo Alto, California. He’s a lawyer. He’s such a smart kid. He got a full ride to Stanford right out of highschool. His fiance, Jessica, she’s a sweetheart. They’re going to move out here at the end of the year. I miss them, so I’m looking forward to being able to see them more. I hate driving out there.”
“Why don’t you fly?”
“Hell no. I don’t do planes.” Dean shook his head. “I love driving, but 25 hours is rough. I usually stop overnight, so it takes two days to get there, three if I don’t leave at the asscrack of dawn.”
Castiel nodded. “I understand. Everyone has some irrational fear.” He smiled softly. “That’s really impressive that your brother went to Stanford.”
Dean beamed proudly. “I know, right. He’s a good kid, so smart.”
“You probably miss him.”
“Oh yeah, I miss him a lot. I can’t wait for him to move down here.” He smiled. “What’s your daughter’s name?”
“Claire.” He picked up his phone and showed his wallpaper, which was a picture of him and Claire. She had her hair long and braided on the side, which was her favorite style.
Dean smiled. “That’s a great picture. She looks like she loves you a lot.”
“She does.” Castiel set his phone back down. He was absolutely smitten as he talked to Dean. Conversation flowed with ease and was barely interrupted by the arrival of their food. They talked over their burgers and Castiel learned a lot about Dean. He was an auto mechanic, and had worked on cars since he was ten. He grew up all over the continental US, but he was born in right here in Lawrence, and he spent his high school years in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. They were still talking long after their meals were over, and soon it was getting late.
“I hate to cut us off, but I did promise Claire I’d be home before nine. I’m sure she would be fine, but I should still probably go.”
“Oh wow, it’s that late? Damn, yeah I’ll let you go.”
Castiel was going to just go home, but then he blurted something out. “Do you want to come over?”
Dean blinked in surprise. “I mean, yeah, I’d like that.”
Castiel was tense until he heard Dean’s answer. He wanted to spend more time with Dean. “You want to follow me there? It’s not far.”
“Sounds good.” Dean led the way out of the Roadhouse. They had already paid for their meals. He looked around. “Which car is yours?”
“The Lincoln, right over there.”
Dean nodded. “Alright. See you there.” He smiled.
Castiel smiled back and nodded. “See you there.” He got into his car and made sure Dean was behind him before he started driving. His house was a cute townhouse near the center of town. He had a flower garden out front and a vegetable garden in the back. He parked in his garage and got out of his car. He looked back at Dean’s car and walked to the driver’s side door. When Dean rolled down the window, he leaned in slightly.
“Mind if I go in first to let Claire know you’re here?”
“Not at all.” Dean chewed his lip as Castiel started to leave. “Wait-“
“Hm?” Castiel turned back and found Dean’s face way closer than before. His eyes flicked down to his lips and he swallowed. A few seconds later, Dean leaned forward and pressed their lips together in a quick kiss. Castiel kissed back and pulled away with a grin. “I’ll be back.” He was practically giddy as he walked up to the door and let himself in. Within seconds, Claire was bounding down the stairs.
“Tell me everything! What’s he like? What did you do? Was he nice? Did you tell him about me?”
Castiel smiled. “Slow down, it’s actually not over yet. He’s in the driveway and-“
“Can I meet him?”
“Sure. I just wanted to let you know that he was here before letting him inside. I didn’t want to startle you. Have you done your homework yet?”
“No, but-“
“You can meet Dean, but then you’re going to finish your homework. It’s late.”
Claire nodded. “Okay.”
Castiel stepped back outside and waved for Dean to come inside.
Dean walked up the sidewalk. “I like the garden.”
“Thank you.” Castiel let Dean inside. “Dean, this is my daughter, Claire. Claire, this is Dean.”
Claire waved. “Hey, Dean. Thanks for taking my dad out. He needed that. It’s been forever since he’s dated.”
Dean chuckled softly. “No problem. In fairness, I only gave him my number. He asked me out.”
Claire smiled. “He likes you, then. Good to meet you, Dean.”
“Nice to meet you too, Claire.” Dean watched as she went upstairs and then turned to Castiel. “She’s sweet.”
“She is.” He hummed. “Can I get you something to drink?”
“I’m good, thanks.” Dean followed Castiel to the living room and sat down next to him on the couch, taking his shoes off once Castiel did.
Castiel turned the TV on before looking at Dean. “Kiss me again.” He was surprised at his own forwardness, but he needed to feel Dean’s lips again.
Dean had a wide grin. “Another chance to kiss you like I mean it? Hell, I’ll take it.” He ran his thumb over Castiel’s jaw before leaning in for another kiss.
Castiel’s head spun and his world suddenly became very small. All he saw was himself and Dean, right here. All of his worries were gone. Everything with Dean felt so right. He had known this guy for eight hours and he was so head-over-heels. Hands drifted and nothing was rushed. A couch make-out session moved up to Castiel’s bedroom and became something more. Castiel fell asleep that night with his head on Dean’s chest, arm thrown over him.
The following morning, Castiel’s alarm went off and he turned it off, sitting up with a yawn. He looked over and his heart fell when the bed was empty. Did Dean already leave? He put his worries on pause when he heard Claire laughing downstairs. He quickly threw some clothes on and walked downstairs. He was met with a delicious smell of bacon and eggs. He saw Dean in the kitchen cooking and Claire sitting on the island with a piece of bacon in her mouth. Castiel smiled and walked up to Dean. “Good morning.”
“Morning. Hope you don’t mind me making breakfast.”
“Not at all. I can’t cook.”
“He set spaghetti on fire once.” Claire hummed.
Dean laughed. “That’s amazing.” He put the bacon and eggs on plates and set them on the table. When Claire’s back was turned, he snuck a kiss to Castiel’s cheek.
Castiel had no idea that morning how deep his love ran for Dean. That first date became one of many. Dean came over all the time to cook dinner, and they exchanged texts almost constantly. Dean constantly made jokes about how they met.
Dean Winchester
To this day, I still think about the time you held my semen in a cup and accepted my number
Castiel Novak
That was disgusting
Dean Winchester
Hey, you’ve seen me come a bunch of times now ;)
Castiel Novak
I’m at work
Dean Winchester
Oh, was that winky face too “provocative”?
Castiel Novak
No, the part where you referenced our sexual relations was inappropriate
Dean Winchester
Okay, okay, I’ll stop. Hey, meet me at the overlook today.
Castiel Novak
The one at the lake?
Dean Winchester
Yeah, that one. Great place to celebrate a six month anniversary, right?
Castiel Novak
It’s perfect. I’ll see you there. Love you
Dean Winchester
Love you too
That evening, Castiel walked the trail to the overlook. When he arrived, he found a blanket laid out and a basket full of food and wine. It was perfect. He watched the sun set over the lake, colors dissipating from the sky. When he stood up, he turned around to find Dean down on one knee with a little box in his hands.
After a year of marriage, Castiel walked into the fertility clinic for the first time without scrubs, because he wasn’t here for work today. Today, he and Dean were here for children of their own.

Never Grew Out of This Feeling 2(charlie mcavoy)
(A/N): hi babes! sorry this took sooo long, but i’m so excited to finally put this part out into the world! hope you enjoy! (word count: 2696) (warnings: underage drinking, marijuana use, alcohol as a coping mechanism)
song of the chapter: somewhere in neverland - all time low
“We’ll talk about how your parents separated and how you don’t wanna make the same mistakes as them. I’ll say it’s all about sticking it out and trying to feel forever young.”
Fall comes and goes quicker than expected. Classes at community college keep you busy along with your job waiting tables at the small sushi restaurant a few blocks from your house, where most of your weekends are spent answering the phones and refilling the water cups of teens on their first dates. You spend a too-quick weekend in Boston with the McAvoys in October and when you come home, the aching in your chest takes you by surprise. You thought you’d been doing a good job at not missing Charlie too much, but seeing him only made the reality of life on the island without him hit you twice as hard.
Seeing him walk through the door of the restaurant the Monday before Thanksgiving sends you into shock. You’re frozen from the second you look up after the bell rings on the door and you see him standing there in a big red BU hoodie and basketball shorts. He laughs at your reaction, head thrown back and all. It shakes you from your shock and you cross your arms in front of you, narrowing your eyes at him. “You dirty little liar! You told me you wouldn’t be home until Wednesday night!”
He smiles smugly back at you, and takes a menu from the holder attached to the front desk. “It’s called a surprise, Numb Nuts.” He opens the menu and ignores your scoff, scanning the list of rolls as if he doesn’t basically have it memorized at this point. “Do you recommend the Angel roll or the Fashion roll?” You grab the menu from his hand and place it back into its slot.
“Very rude of you to come in here and harass me at my workplace, and besides, you know I prefer the White Dragon roll.”  Emiko, the owner of the restaurant (and the only other waitress) comes out from the back and greets Charlie with an enthusiastic high-five and sends you home for the night, insisting she can handle closing alone after gesturing to the single table being occupied.
Charlie slides into the passenger seat of your car and swivels sideways, squaring his shoulders towards you as you scroll through your phone to put music on. He waits patiently until you find what you’re looking for and place your phone down in the cup holder. “I have something to tell you.” You look up at him and you can tell he’s fighting a smile and it makes you a little giddy too. You nod to him, a smile crossing your face that mirrors his. “I think I have a girlfriend.” A big, toothy grin finally splits its way across his face but you can’t manage to match his enthusiasm.
“Ok, a few things. One, we talk on the phone at least once a week. You didn’t think to mention a GIRLFRIEND? And two, what do you mean you think you have a girlfriend? Did she agree to be your girlfriend or not?” You file the sinking feeling in your gut as a reaction to Charlie keeping secrets, and definitely not anything having to do with the fact that he’s dating someone. Charlie’s dated people before anyway; girls you went to school with or who hung around the local rink, and it never bothered you much. They were always girls you knew, and who knew you, and knew how you and Charlie were with each other. Now, you don’t even know if Charlie’s mentioned you to this new girl, if she even knows your name, and there’s nothing more terrifying.
“Welllll,” He starts, a faint flush rising in his cheeks. “I didn’t mention it because I didn’t wanna jinx it. You know how I get with girls I like. I didn’t wanna like, mention that I told my family about her and freak her out.” You breathe deeply through your nose, choosing to ignore the way a pang hits your heart when Charlie refers to you as his family. “And I haven’t asked her to be my girlfriend yet, but we’ve been hanging out for like a month and a half. I know I haven’t been seeing anyone else, and honestly, we spend so much time together; I don’t think she has any time to see anyone else either.” You nod your head slowly, attempting to process all the information while saving the feelings for later when you’re alone. “You’re not happy.” It’s not a question. Charlie can read you better than anyone and he sees right through the blank smile you’ve put on to hide your reaction.
You exhale and relax, letting your face fall a little now that you know he isn’t buying it. “It’s not that I’m not happy for you. You know I am. I just worry about you getting your heart broken if I can’t be there to fix it.” The sentiment brings a sincere, if not a little bittersweet, smile to his face and you reckon that’s the best you’ll get from the situation. You finally reverse out of your spot, driving straight to the playground. The ride is mostly silent except for Charlie’s fingers drumming against your dashboard and you both bop along to the old Blink-182 track that comes on next.
 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meeting Katrina over Christmas break is fine, really. You can tell that if you’d met in different circumstances, you might get along but you also know how this story goes and it doesn’t end in a new best friend for either of you. You can sense the question on her tongue as soon as Charlie gets up to use the bathroom from the couch where you’re all splayed out watching tv.
“So, did you guys ever, have you, uh,” You both draw in steadying breaths before she continues. “Tell me about how you and Charlie became friends!” She finally gets it out and you appreciate her trying to put it as delicately as possible. You rest the plastic bowl filled with popcorn and m&ms on the couch and slide into something that more closely resembles how human beings are supposed to sit.
“Well, we met in kindergarten and we’ve been, uh, like this ever since, I guess.” She presses her lips together and nods slowly, an uncomfortable silence settling over the two of you until Charlie comes crashing back into the room, flopping back into his spot between you. He laces his fingers between Katrina’s and smiles shyly at her before turning his head to face you.
“Mom’s doing that Italian dressing chicken you like and she’s buying cannoli as we speak. You staying?” You think about declining for a second, wishing you could run from the awkward air in the room. The thought of Charlie’s mom making your favorite dinner and the promise of cannoli keeps you in your seat though and you nod as Charlie flips through the channels again.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s spring break before you spend any actual time with Charlie again, having survived the first half of spring semester talking over FaceTime every Tuesday and texting almost every day. You’d heard less and less about Katrina as the weeks went on, but every time you asked about her, Charlie just said she was great. You didn’t want to push things. You knew Charlie would tell you details at his own pace and besides, it’s not like you hadn’t been withholding information too.
Your dates with Brendan had been nice. The older brother of a girl you and Charlie had graduated with, he’d followed you on Instagram sometime in January. He’d replied to a story of yours and after a month of casual conversation, you’d agreed to meet him for dinner. It had been really casual, just an early dinner at the burrito place by your work that turned into a walk on the boardwalk and an ice cream cone from your favorite local soft serve place. He was just a nice guy, polite and good at keeping conversation. He wasn’t insanely funny or anything, but your dates were always light and casual and he made you feel comfortable right away. You’d kissed for the first time last week, short and sweet in his car when he dropped you off after taking you to see some comedy about a gymnast. His lips were salty from the popcorn and he texted you as soon as he got home, just like he always did.
You knew you were going to have to tell Charlie at some point. You just didn’t think it was going to be like, right now. “What could you possibly be doing on a Sunday night that you can’t come watch Jackass on my couch with me?” You twiddle your thumbs, picking at your cuticles a little bit while you find your voice.
You look into his eyes and know it’s time, so you just exhale heavily and let it out. “Sunday nights are usually when Brendan and I go bowling. With his parents.” Charlie’s face stays blank for a minute before his head tilts a little to the side and his brow furrows in confusion. “I know, I know, I should have said something, I’m sorry! I just didn’t really think it was going to, uh, last this long, honestly.” He still looks a little confused so you stay silent and give him a minute to catch up.
Suddenly, it clicks in his head and his eyes narrow. “Brendan Cotiletta? Like, Mia’s brother?” You nod and put on a small, closed mouth smile. “You are dating Brendan Cotiletta and it’s serious enough that you hang out with his parents?” You nod once more, and your smile begins to fall when you realize Charlie’s still looking at you with a little confusion and a little more concern. It’s then that he sees the worry on your face and he takes a deep breath before putting a hand on your arm. “If you’re happy, I’m happy. Just keep an eye on him. I’m sure he’s grown up since the last I heard, but the last things I heard about him weren’t great. Okay?”
You spend your Sunday with Brendan as planned, explaining to him that the rest of your week would be spent with Charlie and his family. He took it well, not weirded out at all. No suspicious looks, no sly comments about how close you and Charlie were. Really, it went better than you could have hoped for, which should have been your first clue that something was going to go wrong. You and Charlie spend your Friday night baking cupcakes (that are certainly not on the team-recommended diet) and watching Jersey Shore reruns. The episode with the infamous Note is on, and during a commercial break you go to check your phone. You almost tap right past it, Brendan’s best friend’s Snapchat story until something catches your eye in the background of the video. Brendan being pulled on to the dance floor of the bar by a skinny blonde is concerning, but not something to have a meltdown over. The meltdown comes when you’re finally able to place her face. Olivia, Brendan’s high school sweetheart, had broken his heart when she’d run off to some college upstate and met a guy from the Hamptons with a blow problem.  He’d never really recovered, obvious in the way he avoided saying her name at any cost, even in casual conversation. You watch the Snapchat again and again and it doesn’t get any easier. Charlie sinks down on the couch next to you and you almost go to turn the TV off to show him. You can see through your peripheral that he’s texting Katrina, the string of emojis after her name catching your eye. You take another moment to watch him smiling as he types out his reply and the only thing you can bring yourself to do is click the lock button on your phone and return your attention to Snooki and Jwoww.
The weekend after Charlie leaves, Brendan asks to come over on Saturday morning and you know exactly why. He tries to break it to you as gently as possible, at least. He tells you how sorry he is, how you did absolutely nothing wrong, it’s just that Olivia is his person. It’s bittersweet to hear, sad to end something that was fun and lighthearted, but you can’t be anything but happy for him that he’s got this opportunity to be so truly happy. You tell him exactly that, adding “It makes me hopeful that I’ll find that one day, my person, whoever it is.” He smiles a little at that and shakes his head before giving you a final hug.
“I’m sure your person is closer than you think.”
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Katrina breaks up with Charlie when she finds out you were invited to the draft and she wasn’t. It’s a shame, you think to yourself, that she wasted all those months pretending to be cool about how close you and Charlie are. She seems to be forgotten about as quickly as she arrived, mostly just swept away in all the excitement. It’s truly a whirlwind weekend. From the second your mom drops you and the McAvoys off at the airport, Charlie is buzzing. His leg bounces the entire 90 minute flight and he opens his complimentary bag of pretzels but doesn’t eat a single one. During the draft, a quiet tension settles over all of you, waiting with bated breath until Charlie’s name is called. You try not to let it cross your mind, that the second Charlie gets drafted is the beginning of the end.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The weeks post-draft are spent just like all your summers before: mornings in the waves and afternoons napping on the sand, nights spent sat around a fire with your friends. The only difference is that Charlie’s managed to keep his drinking and smoking to a minimum, convinced that the only thing that could hold him back from making an NHL roster are a spliff and a rack of Bud Light platinums. Secretly, you might agree, so you pretend not to notice Charlie’s look of concern every time he realizes you’re drinking more heavily than ever. It’s easy when you’re like this, warm and loose from the beer and Charlie’s hand on your back guiding you home, to convince yourself nothing will change.
Somewhere around the middle of July, you’re curled into Charlie’s side on the hammock in a friend’s yard and you’re not sure how much more wear and tear your body can take from partying. You know Charlie notices it too; the circles under your eyes, the littering of bruises and scrapes on your body from god knows what. You’re running yourself ragged and you can’t bring yourself to even try to hide it. You feel him shift underneath you to get a better look at your face, but you’re not ready to look up at him quite yet.
“Hey, bub,” he starts, quiet enough to ensure that no one else is listening in. You still can’t bring yourself to meet his eyes, knowing you won’t be able to hold in the word vomit once it starts. You reply with a “mhm?” instead, eyes glued to the wooden fence next to you. He clears his throat before speaking again and you can feel his fingertips flex into your ribs a little. “You know you can tell me anything, right? Like whatevers, uh, happening, however you’re feeling, all I wanna do is help.” The statement lights up your whole chest and you feel, honestly, kind of stupid for thinking you couldn’t bring something up to Charlie. He knew you, your anxiety and your fear and your cynicism, and nothing had ever sent him running before.
“Don’t wanna think ‘bout you leavin’... can’t lose you,” you mumble, cheek squished against his chest. He squeezes you a little harder at that, laying his face against the top of your forehead. A few minutes pass in silence between you while the party continues across the yard. He kisses the top of your head, letting himself take in the scent of smoke in your hair.
“You couldn’t get rid of me if you tried.”

Trans Eggsy headcanons even though no one asked
Has known that he was a boy since he was a kid
Michelle didn’t totally understand at first
She tried to ignore it but once Eggsy started crying whenever she called him by his birth name or tried to force him to do girly things like wear a dress, she knew she needed to do some research
Michelle spent countless nights trying to fend off Dean’s advances to get a moment to research “transgender”
When it hit her that her son was really struggling with something tangible, she immediately took action to help him
She still feels bad for ignoring him at first
Eggsy forgives her 100% and reminds her whenever she tries to apologize
When Michelle asked him what he wanted to be called, he naturally replied Eggsy because that’s what his dad had jokingly suggested they name him
Michelle refused to let that be his legal name but offered up “Gary”, his dad’s genuine name input
Eggsy agreed with that name, but still made everyone call him Eggsy
Dean was never supportive, and when Michelle let Eggsy get a short haircut, Dean threw a complete fit
He broke at least four plates in a drunk fit of rage and beat up Michelle for “letting her daughter look like a lesbian”
Eggsy was nine
When puberty was about to hit, Eggsy had a breakdown
His first period made him lock himself in his room for an entire day
Michelle begged Dean to pay for his puberty blockers, but he refused no matter what she promised
Michelle didn’t have the money to pay for them herself, no matter how many extra shifts she picked up at work
Puberty was hell for Eggsy, and was the main reason that he gave up gymnastics and his other productive hobbies
Dean never slowed up on misgendering Eggsy
Michelle sneaked Eggsy a binder on his fourteenth birthday
He started to wear it every day, and it helped with his dysphoria
While he bought his own clothes, packers, etc., he slowly saved up money to start T
His efforts, combined with snippets of Michelle’s money from Dean meant for make-up and things of the like, got him started when he was 17
Dean, once again, had a complete conniption fit and beat up both of them
Eggsy attempted to save Michelle from the worst of it but mostly failed
When he graduated high school, he decided that he would join the Marines
This was the best way to escape Dean’s endless misgendering and to keep his mother safe
He joined and enjoyed it quite a bit
The binding started to get to him after a while and after he heard that over-binding would prevent him from getting top surgery, he stopped doing it too much
One night, some assholes in his squad confronted him about why he never showered with them after they found a sports bra under his bed
Eggsy was brutally attacked and ended up in the on-site hospital
He swore up and down that he was okay and that he’d gotten quite a few good licks in as well
His mom called while he was in the hospital in a panic, demanding that he came home immediately
She said that she couldn’t lose her little boy like she’d lost her husband
Eggsy quit the Marines at the age of 19
When he returned home, he discovered that Michelle was pregnant
He at first panicked about Dean’s involvement but she said that it was okay, that she was excited to have another baby
When he got the news that it’d be a girl, he cried
He was so excited to be a big brother
Dean laughed at him and Michelle, “the two girls crying”
Eggsy stopped hanging around the house so much
He picked up drugs to cope with the mixed abuse and dysphoria he had to suffer through daily
He started to participate in petty crime, always trying to one-up Dean’s crew to prove that he was man enough
Once Daisy was born, he was fiercely protective of her
Whenever Michelle and Dean were fighting, he took her out of the house and to the park or the ice cream shop
He always did his best to be the support for her that he’d wanted as a kid
Harry was the first positive male figure Eggsy had ever had in his life (he doesn’t really remember his dad)
Eggsy always tried to act like Harry and respected him more than he’d ever respected anyone in the world
Kingsman made him feel proud of who he was, and like a real man
When Harry offered to pay for his top surgery, Eggsy was taken aback
At first he got angry, telling Harry that just because he didn’t come from a rich family, it didn’t mean he needed help paying for everything
Harry reassured him that he knew
“I just want to make sure that you’re in the best possible mental state for missions. It’s purely professional.”
Harry gave him a small smile and wink with that statement
Eggsy knew that Harry genuinely just wanted to see him happier
Eggsy cried
He couldn’t believe that anyone could be so kind to him in his life
Harry made sure that Eggsy’s Kingsman suit fit him just right so that he could be as confident as possible
Due to Kingsman’s prestigious nature, Charlie heard through the grapevine that Eggsy was trans
He gave him shit about it all through training
Roxy was 100% supportive of him and didn’t think of him differently at all when he came out to her
Roxy was the best friend Eggsy had ever had
Whenever he was having a particularly rough day with Charlie and dysphoria and everything, she did everything she could to distract him
Eggsy got the money for top surgery through Harry’s will after he “died” when Valentine shot him
When Harry got his memory restored, he was beyond proud of Eggsy
Merlin is also incredibly supportive of Eggsy
He always pitches in with little acts of “karma” against people that misgender Eggsy or give him shit
Merlin is always watching out for Eggsy
Eggsy often uses masculinity to try to cover up insecurities
Even so, he’s not toxic, and has never had shame in having female friends or feminine interests
Now that Eggsy is a part of Kingsman and is away from Dean, he feels proud of who he is and like the man he’s always wanted to be

Dances– The Blackwoods | A Personal Essay (Written pre-parental death).
It was a dance.
It always was, no matter what. No, there was never any music. No stage. No choreography. But conversations with my mother were always an intricate samba on a tightrope.
It could begin at any moment, about anything. Simple small talk about where I went for brunch yesterday morning could turn into a bitchfest about my weight– as if being 110 was something to be ashamed of. The mere presence of an unopened, monthly bank statement could turn into a lecture about financial responsibility– as if she wasn’t surrounded by new, shiny things and maxed out AMEX cards. And, far more recently, a quick, innocent glance at the alcohol cabinet would have me sat down with some professional life coach while she watched, a vodkatini in hand.
Eliza Blackwood (born Eliza Rheider in 1971) was a bitch. An absolute bitch. A wretched, spoiled, high-strung, narcissistic, classist, borderline-anorexic, Valium-addicted, Shalimar-drenched, Kris Jenner-wannabe bitch. She was lucky she came from money, because if she wasn’t, I don’t think she’d be alive right now. I mean, I’m lucky, too, but I’m grateful for what I have.
Her parents were corporate assholes– her dad worked for Goldman Sachs, and his wife was a vapid, shrill, useless little brat not unlike her daughter. And, of course, that unloveable little bitch went and married someone who could satisfy her financial needs and not embarrass the family name– Andrew Blackwood, a New York politician from a family of Wall Street types (Some of whom also worked at Goldman Sachs, which is how the two met). On paper, they were a match made in heaven. A wealthy politician and his obnoxious jetsetter wife.
But, fortunately for me, even though I hadn’t been born quite yet, Andrew was a good, caring man. While Eliza was (and still is) ruthless, selfish and absolutely disgustingly horrible, Andrew had a heart. He cared about people. And things. Which was why he went into politics. He wanted to make a change. While his family was a bunch of wealthy Republicans, he was entirely Democratic, a fact that nearly alienated from them entirely (if only it had actually managed to keep his family out of my life) which is why I’m still in awe that he wound up with a pathetic Paris Hilton knockoff. A politician with a heart of gold wound up with a blue blood twat who measures her love in karats.
But back to her dances.
I’m not entirely sure where they come from. I mean, no matter how much you analyze someone and their family and upbringing and everything, you can’t pin point their personality traits and their behaviors. That said, I think I have a fair amount of clues as to where Eliza’s horrid personality came from.
While her relationship with her mother is mostly concealed to me, their lifestyle was no secret. Eliza always went on about how well she lived as a kid, how luxurious her house was, how high the thread count in the sheets of her crib was, and how she washed her face with caviar or something. But how she got along with her mother was never fully described. I’ve seen hints here and there– a glare across a table at a gala or whispers on the phone. But I don’t know too much. As far as I know, Eliza’s mother– Mrs. Karen Rheider– didn’t even bother to raise any of her three children. I wouldn’t have been surprised had they all been raised by a nanny while Karen went went on living as a trophy wife. But I assume that the two of them, when they did interact, got along the same way Eliza and I do– and that would make it safe to assume Eliza picked up her bitchy words, malicious intentions and passive-aggressive, condescending demeanor from her mother. The family bitchiness is hereditary.
Passive-aggressiveness is definitely a running trait in my family. I see it to an extent on my dad’s side– his brothers and him bicker endlessly, and they seem to show some slight disapproval for his opposing political stance, as if world views are trivial dinner conversation. But it pales in comparison to the Rheider family’s guilt. Aside from me, and my mother, I see it in the rest of the family.
My aunt Jodi, mother of two, is another disgusting person. Like Jenny McCarthy, she refused to vaccinate her kids because she believed it would make them autistic. Her son, Connor, has caught the flu every single year since he was six. The three (including her daughter Jenna) currently reside together at a nudist resort, where the kids were homeschooled… because they lack their immunizations. But that’s kind of besides the point– any time Jodi decides to dress up and sneak out into the world of normalcy, she misses no opportunity to make slick comments that everyone else in the family is living incorrectly. Thankfully, everyone else has mastered the art of clapback.
Eliza’s brother, Luke, and his wife, Charli (a full 16 years younger than him) are an obnoxiously pretentious couple who are all too proud of their FormDecor relationship and all too ashamed of everyone else’s. Luke has a son, Bastien, who he had with his first wife, that’s only 6 years younger than Charli. However, Bastien’s one of the few people on my mother’s side of the family that I actually enjoy. We share similar morals, and gratefulness for what we’ve been given, and spend every single family function together ripping the family apart. It’s a shame they never hear us.
Even the family elders have the same disapproving, condescending disdain for everything that my mom displays. But they’re far too silent around me to reveal anything noteworthy. The most words I’ve ever heard from my great grandmother Dorothy Cross (my mother’s mother’s mother), was scolding Jodi for her nudist colony being racially integrated, so it’s safe to say not much good was going to come from that generation. Fortunately, most of them are dead– Dorothy passed in 2011 (though her husband is still living off of a diamond-encrusted life support machine), and Eliza’s father’s parent’s are both long gone. Three out of Andrew’s four parents are deceased, his mother’s mother Clarissa Pullock (or something like that) is still alive, though I’ve never met her and probably never will– our first interaction will probably be at her funeral where I’m forced to pretend to mourn.
While Eliza’s family is dominated by a vile matriarchy, Andrew’s family has been dominated by powerful men with miniature dicks who made the Blackwood name known very much for investment banking until bank holding companies began to reign supreme, after which the family figured they would be better off in electoral politics. Andrew’s grandfather, Adam Blackwood, worked up a networth of slightly over $1 billion, and while his successors haven’t exactly been slacking, I don’t think any of them are ever going to do as well as him (but at the end of the day, if Andrew decided to have a bonfire using $100 bills as kindling, we’d recover before the fire even went out). Adam had two sons– Matthew and Bernard, and both received their jobs at Wall Street after him in a clear sign of nepotism. Bernard married a real estate agent named Elaine or Elle or something like that and had a million kids– most of which were boys. I don’t know much about them, and I don’t really care to. Matthew married some Janet something and had four kids– Paul (1965), Michael (1967), Andrew (1969), and Matthew Jr. (stillborn in 1970).
Unfortunately for this generation of men, who, unsurprisingly, continued the trend of nepotism and began work at the same place as their ancestors (save for Andrew who stayed in school, exploring his interests), none of them were able to produce any boys to continue the line. Paul was the first to reproduce– shooting out Kim and Lisa in 1987 and 1989, and as soon as the Kardashian sisters came around, they tried their hardest to be them but soon settled with just being their very close friends (and it’s safe to say I can’t stand any of them). Michael had Heather in 1990, and somehow, amidst a family of putrid, selfish monsters, she wound up a tasteful and snarky angel of hope. Like Bastien, we spend our family events together, an unholy trio of stylish black sheep.
And then finally, February 5, 1995, I came around. Eliza and Andrew had been married for about three years, and finally had me. Adam was still alive at the time and was praying for a great grandson– only to be disappointed for the fourth time. Almost as a sign of flippancy towards him, they named me Sam (well, Samantha, but I’ve grown accustomed to Sam and refuse to be called by my full first name unless I’m being charged with something). My mother made my middle name Elizabeth– because she hoped that I would follow in her footsteps. She once said naming me after her was “the biggest mistake” she ever made, which I don’t think is entirely unfair because taking after her is the last thing I ever want to do. And I’ve spent the last twenty-one years learning all of this.
People always say that blood is thicker than water, or whatever. That we’re supposed to stick with our families (over friends, or, well, anything). There’s been some mindset that family comes before all, that you honor your last name above anything and everything. I don’t believe that for one second. As if who happened to bang should determine everything about you. I despise almost all of that. And I won’t claim any of the ones that I don’t like for one second. I’ll take a tango any day. Fuck blood. And fuck the Blackwoods.

Alexandra’s holiday shift passed rather quickly. She stuck mostly to Ethan’s side getting a few good cases. They fell into a comfortable routine. He was still rude and insufferable most of the time but she understood it better now.
Sunday had her up early. She gotten the ingredients she needed the day before to make homemade apple crisp. She honestly couldn’t believe she was going over to Ethan’s home. It made her nervous and yet gave her a warm feeling.
Sienna and Jackie were working, so there was no one to stop and question her as she all but skipped out the door.
Ethan eyed the backpack Alexandra had at her feet. “Planning on stealing more clothes of mine?”
She looked at him sharply and found him trying not laugh. “You’re not funny.”
He glanced at the jacket before pulling away from the apartment. “Maybe you should though. That can’t be keeping you warm any longer.”
“I have a winter coat, I just don’t like wearing it.” She shrugged.
“Maybe at least wear a scarf and gloves.”
“Yes, dad.” She gave him a salute before looking at the window and missing the unpleasant look on his face.
She realized they were headed downtown towards the waterfront. He took a few turns before going into the underground parking of a tall building. He carried her backpack as they headed for the elevator. She couldn’t help but to notice every parked car seemed to be expensive.
He pushed the front door open and let her enter first. There was a small hallway with the kitchen to the left and an entry table to the right but at the end of the hall it opened into the living room with large windows looking out at the water.
“Wow.” She said as she headed straight for them looking out at the amazing view he has.
He put her bag down by the couch before walking up behind her. “It’s why I got this place. I love all the natural light. Sometimes we never make it outside during our shifts, I didn’t want to come home and feel the same way.”
“It’s a beautiful view.”
Ethan looked at her. “It is.” He said simply. “Which is why I pay too much and have too much room.” Changing the topic for him back to the apartment.
He points to the left past the living room to another hallway. “First door on the left is the bathroom. Next door is the guest bedroom. Door across the hall from that is my bedroom and the first door you’ll see on the right is my office.”
She glanced in the direction he pointed and couldn’t help but to wonder what his bedroom looked like. “Make yourself at home, I’m going to start putting stuff on to cook.”
She picked her backpack up and followed him into the large kitchen. An island separated it from the living room. She took a seat on one of the bar stools pulling items out of her bag for the apple crisp. Alexandra can’t help but to watch him move effortlessly around the kitchen. He rolled the sleeves up on his dark red dress shirt exposing his forearms to her.
“What are you making?” He nods to stuff on the counter.
“Apple crisp.” She grins. “I’ll need a deep pan I can stick in the oven.”
He points to several draws and cabinets telling her what’s in them. “Help yourself.”
They worked alongside each other in the kitchen. At some point she convinced him to put on Christmas music.
“What’s your favorite holiday?” He asked handing her glass of eggnog and settling next to her on the couch. They spent most of the afternoon in the kitchen and was now just waiting for things to finish cooking.
“Christmas! That’s easy.” She curled her feet under her. “You?”
“Hmm. I enjoy Halloween a lot or should I say October. The change in the air, the leaves.”
“So Fall is your favorite season. I’m surprised you didn’t say Christmas with being from a big family and having your sister’s kids.”
“In a way I feel like the magic of Christmas is really only magical through a kids perceptive. Seeing my nephews makes me sad sometimes.” He shrugged putting his glass on the coffee table.
“It’s a good thing you have me because clearly you need to find someone who loves Christmas. I love the cheesy Hallmark movies and cookie making. I love going to see lights.”
The smile on her face was contagious and he pictured her bundled up against the New England cold looking at lights. He would have to take her for a drive through some of the neighborhoods that were known for lights.
“Do you want kids?” She asked.
The smile dropped from his face. “I don’t know honestly. I’m not sure what kind of parent I would be.”
“We’ll after watching you with baby Ethan, I would say a good one.” She smiled resting her hand on his arm.
“What about you?”
“Of course. At least two.”
“What happened to your mother doesn’t scare you?” He asked before he could think about it. “I’m sorry I shouldn’t have asked that.”
“I won’t lie and say it doesn’t, but isn’t the risk worth the outcome? You and the person you love have created something together. That’s more magical than Christmas.”
The urge to pull her into his arms and never let her go was strong. He fought against it though.  He couldn’t ruin her career or her rosy outlook on life by tangling her up with him.
“Tell me about your family.” She nudged his thigh with her foot.
“What do you want to know?”
“Anything. You’ve met my dad and apparently you two are going to a future baseball game together.” She laughed.
“Far enough. My oldest sister is Jessie and she’s a lawyer in New York City. Next is Katie who is a stay at home mom of three boys ages 4 to 8 and her husband is Todd. Todd is a building engineer. My little sister is Jennie and she is a high school art teacher in upstate New York.”
“Should I call you Ethanie from now on?” She giggled.
He shot her look, “Please don’t.” Without thinking he tickled the bottom of her foot closest to him sending her into a laughing fit.
“Fine. You win.” She breathed pulling her foot back towards her. “What about you parents?”
“Ah, mom and dad. My dad is a retired lawyer and mom has always been a stay at home mom.”
“I see your sister followed in his footsteps.”
“She did. He wanted me to also.”
“Certainly he’s proud of the choice you’ve chosen.”
“Not at first. He came around though. My mother saw to that.”
“Are you a momma’s boy?” She grinned.
He shrugged. “I may be her favorite.”
Their conversation continued to flow until dinner was cooked. They sat at the kitchen island eating. He shared stories about the trouble his nephews always cause at holidays. She told him about holidays with just her dad.
“I hope you’re not wanting to get rid of me right away.” She said pulling a dvd from her backpack. They had just finished loading the dishwasher.
“A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving?” He eyed the dvd case.
“Please.” She pouted.
“Fine.” He huffed playfully.
“You wouldn’t happen to have blanket I could use?” She asked as she settled in the middle of the large couch.
He returned from down the hall with a soft dark grey blanket. He handed it to her before taking the dvd from her. She made herself comfortable. He sat down beside her and she offered some of the blanket to him.
“How kind of you?” He joked taking some.
She rested her head on the couch close to his shoulder as they watched the cartoon. He only payed half attention to it, as he took in this moment. It seemed like every time they were together he was more relaxed then he had been in years. There was something about Alexandra that set his mind at ease.
Ethan drove her home after the movie was over. They were both back on shift the next morning, so he didn’t want to keep her out too late.

Adventure of a Lifetime: Chapter Three

*****
I woke up the next morning to sun coming in my bedroom window and the sound of the kids through the monitors I had in each of their rooms. Their sleep schedule versus mine had been one of the hardest adjustments of parenthood for me. I groaned before climbing out of bed, quickly using the bathroom and going into the nursery to grab Axel.
"Good morning, Axe Man. How's my favorite little guy?" He put his hands on my cheeks. He did this every morning. I was convinced it was his way of telling me he was fine and he loved me. I got his diaper changed before we headed into Ellie's room to get her. "Ellie Bellie, are you ready for breakfast?"
"Can we have waffles?" she asked.
"Of course we can have waffles." We got her into the bathroom before heading downstairs for breakfast. Once we were in the kitchen I got them in their seats at the island and started on the food. Luckily there were some frozen waffles in the house so I didn't have to make waffles from scratch but I did decide to make them some scrambled eggs.
"Where's Savy?" Ellie asked.
"She went to spend the day with some friends since we won't be home. What do you think if we skip your piano lesson today since she's gone?"
"OK! Can we play instead?"
"For a little while but remember we need to leave so we have time to get to Ava's house for our play date." By the end of breakfast, I had two tiny humans covered completely in syrup. I cleaned them both up and we went to the family room for some playtime. Seeing them interact, especially as Axel got older, warmed my heart. My sister was three years older than me and then my step-brother came during my Dad's second marriage. They were two people I couldn't do without and I loved that I got to watch these two build that with each other. Your siblings were the people who would be there to support you through anything and these two had been through more than most people could imagine. I snapped a quick photo of them as they laid on the floor laughing.

Subject: First Day of Summer!
Hey Samagator!
We miss you extra today. It's the first day of summer and the kids are so excited. We are having a playdate with Ellie's best friend from school, Ava, and going swimming at Ava's house. We are enjoying a little playtime at home before heading over there. Watching Axe and Ellie on the floor as they lay and have their conversations and giggles is one of the happiest feelings. I honestly can't describe it. I get it now. You always told me kids were different when they were yours. I fucking hate it when you're right.
I got through the first draft of the score I'm working on. I'm going to let it sit for a few days before I send it off to the powers at be to see what they think. It's my biggest project this year. You'd love it. The film is a small indie project, with an amazing cast and the perfect emotional storyline to put music too. Exactly the kind of project that is our sweet spot. I've spent so many hours at the piano this week that I honestly considered putting my hands into buckets of ice. A day away from work at the pool is going to be the perfect escape.
Alex would be pissed if I didn't mention Ava's Dad is ridiculously hot and I'm fairly certain is single. I'm trying to focus on the idea of maybe making an adult friend that isn't family, someone on the other end of a FaceTime, phone line or email, or well Savy since she's typically the only other "adult" I speak to on a regular basis. I tried, I really did, to make friends with the Mom's from Ellie's school but I just don't fit in there. I can't pinpoint exactly what it is but there's just a disconnect between me and the other women. I tried to find a local playgroup to take Axe to, I found one at the library and went and it was strange and mostly nannies. I did have lunch with your Mom this week, it was great to see her and nice to have an adult conversation where I didn't feel like I was parenting Savy or waiting for my WiFi connection in the basement to die.
Well, I better go. I've gotta get the kids bathing suits rounded up, pack a bag of crap for Axel and find a swimsuit that I don't look hideous in. We all miss you like crazy.
Love you forever and for always,
Charlie
*****
"Alright tiny humans. Let's go upstairs and get ourselves ready for a day of fun. If we are on our best behavior tonight we can have pizza for dinner."
"Peessa!!" Axel shouted back. He was really great at repeating words though most of the time it still sounded nothing like what he was trying to say. I picked him up off the floor before blowing raspberries on his tummy making him let out the perfect giggle. His giggle was my favorite sound in the entire world. It had gotten me through the worst year of my life. It was the best medicine ever created. I grabbed everything each child could possibly need for swimming, what felt like a million extra diapers, snacks, things that kept them from having complete and utter meltdowns, and finally got Ellie into a bathing suit with a cover-up dress over it. I drug them into my room and put them on my bed to watch cartoons as I tried to figure out what to wear.
"Why do I do this? Ugh. I hate trying to figure out if I look terrible with no one around," I was talking to myself while putting makeup on. I'd found a bathing suit that I didn't feel completely hideous in after spending far too much time standing in my closet trying on every bathing suit I owned. When I lived in LA I spent my summers living at the pool. Alex's house had the most amazing pool so most of our summers were spent enjoying the gorgeous weather, the company, and food. Sam also had a pretty great pool though significantly smaller and less of a kid's dream than Alex's. I had a pool at my condo and honestly spent time most days there when I needed a break from working. My phone vibrated on the granite counter. I glanced down to see Jeremy's name pop up.
Are we still on for today?
Yup! I have Ellie in a bathing suit (which was quite a task), grabbed one for Axel and have finally gotten the few minutes I needed to get myself out of my pajamas covered in the syrup from their breakfast. We should be leaving here in like 15ish minutes. I just need to grab Axel's little travel playpen, he will definitely need to nap while the girls hang out.
Don't worry about packing anything. I've still got some of Ava's stuff around that you can use. I'm the oldest of 7 and have a lot of nieces and nephews so every kid thing you could imagine needing is here. Just bring yourselves.
Are you sure? It's no big deal. My best friend got the coolest shit for this kid when he was born.
I've got you covered.
Okay then. We will be there in a little bit. I just have to get them wrangled into a car.
"You're gonna do great, Charlie. You are not a lunatic. You're a completely normal person. Today is going to be a good day."
"Today is going to be a great day!" Ellie replied. "It's going to be a great day because we are going to have a lot of fun and pizza for dinner because I promise I'm going to be on my best behavior."
"Ellie Bellie, have I told you yet this morning that I love you?" I asked as I picked her up and hugged her tightly. She had started to give me positive thoughts in the morning when we'd sit and get her ready for school. She heard me one day embracing my inner theater nerd. I'd been listening to the Dear Evan Hansen Original Broadway recording and had even gone so far as to say 'Dear Charlie De Luca, Today is going to be a good day and here's why...you have two wonderful kids who you love and who love you who are experts at putting a smile on your face. You're alive, you're breathing, and you're going to be okay.' Ever since then she'd tell me good things in the morning. She'd also started to dance with me to musicals in the mornings, it was some special girl time we had each day.
"I love you too." She buried her head in my neck hugging me. "You look really pretty in the swimsuit you picked." I'd ended up with a two-piece that had a black and white striped high waisted bottom and ruffled black top.
"Thank you, munchkin. Let's get me in a dress to cover this up and get in the car to go to Ava's." I threw a dress on over my bathing suit while also throwing clothes I could wear after time in the pool to at least drive home in. We got everything in the car, Ellie into her car seat, Axel into his and were on the road headed to Jeremy and Ava's house. My phone started to ring and the screen on the dash showed it was Alex calling. "Everyone say hi to Auntie Alex."
"Hi!" Ellie screamed from the backseat really excitedly. Her little brother let out his signature giggle instead of saying hi.
"Hey, kids. Are we all on our way to our playdate?" she asked.
"We are. We are pulling out of the driveway right now."
"And you managed to find a bathing suit without having a complete meltdown and calling me this morning panicking in your closet? I'm proud."
"I did. I went with the ruffly high waisted two pieces one from last summer."
"Oh, that one is cute and much more appropriate for a playdate with kids than the one I was going to suggest."
"Yeah, the super revealing bikini is not playdate appropriate. It was barely all-inclusive Mexican vacation appropriate."
"You looked hot in it."
"I definitely wouldn't now. A year of essentially eating like a child because of children has me not looking my best. I need to set up a gym in the house or start running through the mountains like a weirdo or something now that it's warm."
"Put a pool in. You used to swim laps in my pool every morning before anyone in the house was even awake to realize you'd snuck in." It was true. I didn't live far and often times my condo pool was filled with people early who were using it for a workout so I'd sneak over to Alex's house and do laps in her pool when we had decent weather instead of going to the gym.
"Yeah, because that is affordable and totally makes sense when I live in the mountains and had a period of time this winter where the snow was taller than I am."
"My 10-year-olds are taller than you. It's not hard to accomplish. You can afford to add a pool. Maybe put it on a wishlist for next summer. You know it will be nice for you and the kids."
"It would be but it's not a priority right now. My top priority is having my house ready for your entire family and my family to be out here soon."
"Did you finally hear from Frankie and Tony?" Alex asked.
"Yup. Tony called me yesterday morning. He's coming out to stay for a while though he won't give me any firm dates on anything. I'm sure Mandi is driving him crazy and he's not even been home a month yet."
"Oh, guaranteed." I loved my step-mom but she could be a bit much and my poor little brother was probably going insane living at home. He had just graduated from college and wasn't used to being home with the parents. He hadn't completely decided what was next though Dad was hoping law school and eventually becoming a partner at his firm. Tony's maternal grandparents were loaded and honestly, the kid would never need to work a day in his life because of his trust fund. He was brilliant and graduated with honors in both of his majors but he had spent his entire childhood focused on school and wasn't sure what he wanted to do next. He told my Dad he was going to take a year before deciding on if he wanted to go to law school, grad school for something none of us would be able to predict, or get his MBA and in the interim he was going to move out with me and help with some of the business aspects of my job that I hated most. I hadn't offered him a job but my brother knew he could convince me of anything because I loved him more than I loved most people because he knew when he shouldn't be providing commentary on my life. Our sister, Dad, his Mom and my Mom definitely did not.
"Frankie also called me yesterday after Dad told her that Tony was moving to Tahoe with me. Her whole clan is coming out. It will be good. One big celebration."
"Any of your parents coming?"
"No, Dad has a big trial coming up that he's working all hours of the day on, most of the time he calls me it's when he knows I'm not sleeping and he's on his way home from the office. Mandi, of course, wouldn't come without him. I truly don't understand her, she's been married to him for most of my life yet lately she will rarely do anything with me or Frankie without Tony or Dad and very rarely if it's just Tony. Mom is of course off on some lavish vacation with her current love interest. I think she called me from Amsterdam last weekend."
"Well, your brother and sister being there will be good. Plus the kids will all be together and you'll get to have some comic relief from Ryan and Tony."
"So true. They are the best at making me laugh." My brother-in-law was the perfect addition to our family. He took such great care of my sister and their kids while also being a decent role model for my brother. "It will also mean that Ryan will do his best to stop Frankie from grilling Tony and me about him moving here. Tony needs a break. All he's done his entire life is school. He needs to be an f-ing kid for a while."
"Just don't let him hit on my daughter."
"I'll do my best but she could do worse than T."
"I know she could but I need her to focus on school not the cute boy above the garage." My watch buzzed on my wrist signaling I needed to make my final turn into a driveway that was long enough I couldn't see the house from the road. I buzzed at the gate and the gate unlocked. Even though our gate had a camera I usually harassed anyone who buzzed it to goof off instead of just letting them in. "Okay. My dear friend Siri has informed me we've reached our final destination." The house came into view. "Holy shit."
"You said a swear word," Ellie said from the back.
"What is it?" Alex asked.
"His house is huge and gorgeous."
"Well have fun and report back later."
"I will. Talk to you tonight." I stopped the car as I saw the front door open. Jeremy came walking out as Ava ran in front of him towards the car. Ellie knew how to get herself out of the car so before I knew it she was running past Jeremy into the house with Ava.
"Hey slow down you two," he called. "Do you need help with anything?" He had walked over to me.
"I think I can get it all," I replied as I grabbed Axel from the backseat.
"Hey there, buddy." Jeremy's demeanor changed from being polite as he greeted us to the complete mush everyone turned into when they saw Axel.
"This is Axel."
"Hi, Axel." I watched as the little guy reached towards Jeremy. He rarely reached towards strangers like he wanted to be held but he didn't even remotely hesitate. Jeremy took him from my arms so I could close the door and grab the bag I had for me and the kids from the back. "He is so cute."
"Thanks. I think he's pretty great." I followed Jeremy into the house where we found the girls playing together. We went towards the kitchen where there was lunch set up for the kids.
"I didn't figure you'd want macaroni and cheese but it was Ava's request today."
"That's a good choice, Ava. I love macaroni and cheese." Jeremy must not have been kidding about having stuff for kids around because there was a high chair waiting for us so that I could help Axel eat. The girls happily chatted away as they ate quickly so they could start swimming. "Thank you for having us and letting me bring Axel with. Savannah was super excited about having a day off."
"No problem, he's a pretty cool kid." We were sitting by the pool watching the girls jump into the pool over and over again. "Ellie is a really great swimmer."
"So is Ava. I guess it pays to grow up in houses with pools."
"True. Do you also have one?" he asked.
"We don't but LA had a pool."
"Aha. Yeah, my house there has one too. I feel like not having a pool in LA is against some sort of city ordinance."
"So true. My condo in LA has one. I usually opted to use my friends' pools though. I mean I was at mine a lot but any chance to get out of my tiny condo was great. One bedroom seems so cramped when your friends all live in giant houses in the hills."
"You were in a one-bedroom with both of them?" He asked.
"Oh no, that would not have worked. I'd have lost my mind. I still have the condo for when I need to go back for work because it means I don't have to stay at my Dad's. Though at this point I'm fairly certain my younger brother has probably located the spare key and used it to escape his Mom." Jeremy laughed which made Axel laugh. "That's right Axe Man. Uncle Tony is silly and Nana Mandi makes all of us a little bonkers."
"Half brother?" He caught onto me saying 'his Mom' which meant he was observant.
"Yeah, Tony just graduated from college. He's the youngest of us. My sister Frankie is three years older than I am. Our Mom and Dad split when I was probably 8, Dad met Mandi, they got married and added Tony to the mix."
"I get that. My youngest sibling is the same age as the girls. He was born the same week as Ava."
"That has to be weird, right?"
"A little weird. But I get it. My Dad wanted more kids. I'd love more but I don't know if it's in my cards. What about you?"
"I never pictured myself having any kids. I was going to be the fun aunt that corrupted the children. Kids hadn't been in my cards at all. My best friend always told me they were different when they were yours which is a BS thing that everyone tells a woman who doesn't want to have kids. Turns out she was right. I hate it when she's right. So I guess someday maybe but for now, these two are all I can handle alone. Right Axe? You're just too much for just me to handle so we can't add another one." He giggled at me and I smiled.
"Is their Dad not in the picture?"

AUTHOR'S NOTE:
I love a good cliffhanger! Which I know makes me SUUUUUPER evil.
Diving more into Charlie and the kids has been fun. The way conversation flows between she and Jeremy easily. The fact that Axel IMMEDIATELY thought Jeremy was cool is also pretty telling. Kids and dogs smell fear, it's something I've learned over the years. I'm childless by choice and intend on remaining that way. Outside of my niece and nephew kids are a little intimidating for me during periods of their lives. And usually they either want to be around me to make me anxious or they start screaming at the top of their lungs when there's even a thought of me holding them.
I must admit "Dear Evan Hansen" is one of my absolute favorite musicals so for Charlie to use it as a motivator for her mornings is something I also try to do. "Dear Charlie DeLuca, today is going to be a good day and here's why ___" I can picture her saying that in the mirror every morning and filling in the blank with what she's going to focus on.
Jeremy is an interesting character for me to develop as well. Admittedly, I LOVE Jeremy Renner. He's an incredible actor, musician, and those eyes are too beautiful for words. While I am using Jeremy as the inspiration of the character I can't really say that I believe the way I write the character to be anything like Jeremy in real life as I do not know him personally and I respect that he does the best he can to keep his private life private. So this may or may not be a version of him that reflects reality or that suits everyone, though I hope people enjoy reading it.

_________________________________________________
Winters in Romania were pretty cold, you have been aware about that for almost two years now. Of course, being a Curse-Breaker meant you didn’t stay in Romania the whole year. You would often travel to other countries in order to break curses. Sometimes you would be with your brother, and other times you were solving mysteries on your own. You were sometimes so busy, that you didn’t see your boyfriend for months. It wasn’t until your brother pointed out you needed a break, you realised how long it had been since you had seen Charlie. For a little while you wondered if you had neglected him for too long, but he reassured you that wasn’t the case.
Romania was your home. It wouldn’t be your home if Charlie didn’t ask you to come to Romania with him. It was the first thing Charlie asked you when you two were about to graduate. Since Curse-Breakers could basically work anywhere in the world, you thought it would be nice to live close with Charlie. So, every time you came home from a Curse-Breaking Adventure, it was great to come back home.
However, you weren’t prepared for the change of the weather and the different temperature. You arrived in the snow in Romania without wearing a scarf, a hat and gloves. No, you definitely weren’t dressed for the winter. So, the change of being in a tropical climate to a continental climate was definitely a huge difference. Maybe you should have expected it after two years of living there, but it definitely caught you off guard. Although, it mostly had to do with the fact it normally wasn’t this cold at this time of the year. You just wanted to get home as soon as possible. You wondered if Charlie was home from the Dragon Sanctuary yet. If he was, then the house would probably be warm.
Once you arrived at the house, you could tell someone was also about to get inside. You grinned slightly, recognizing that person immediately: Charlie Weasley. “It seems like I came home just in time.” You said with a grin.
Charlie blinked and then he quickly turned to you. “Y/N!” He said surprised.
“Hey Charlie.” You said amused. “If you don’t mind, could we move inside? It’s a bit chilly outside.”
“A bit chilly? Don’t you mean freezing, Y/N?” Charlie said when he quickly opened the door.
Once you both were inside, you both took off your cloaks. The house was at least feeling a bit warmer.
“Merlin, what kind of outfit are you wearing?” Charlie said, frowning a little when he looked at you.
“Well, in my defence, I just got back from a tropical island.” You said, rubbing the back of your head.
He shook his head before he pulled you into a tight hug. “You know it is cold in Romania around this time of the year.”
“Not as extreme as this though.” You admitted.
“I guess you have a point, love.” He sighed. “Why don’t you take a bath to warm up? I will get the fireplace starting.” He suggested.
“Sounds like a good plan.” You said before you walked to the bedroom to grab some comfortable and warm clothes you could put on after you took a warm bath. A warm bath really sounded great at the moment. You knew you would have to warm up or you might be at risk to catch a cold. However, you wouldn’t be surprised if you weren’t already too late to prevent a cold. You shook your head slightly before you headed to the bathroom. Maybe it wouldn’t be as bad as you thought.
After you took a bath you felt a lot warmer again. It definitely felt a lot better when you put on the warm and comfortable clothes you had picked out. You slowly made your way to the living room, seeing Charlie was sitting on the couch. You gave him a smile and sat down next to him.
Charlie wrapped an arm around you and gave you a smile. “You never told me when you would come home.” He said.
“Surprise?” You said amused. “We finished a lot earlier than expected, so I couldn’t really send you a letter. Even if I did send one, it might be there by the time I was already here.”
“That makes sense.” He grinned. “It’s good to have you back here.”
“Sorry for not being home that often lately. It almost has been two months since I have last been here.”
“Don’t worry, you had a lot of cases to solve.” He ran a hand through your hair. “Jacob had also sent me a letter about how busy you have been.”
You blinked. “Really? He sent you a letter?”
“Yeah, he also apologized for perhaps pulling you along with certain cases and that you haven’t been home for a while.”
You sighed. “That might explain why he wanted me to take a break.”
“However, I do not mind a winter break. Especially, because I will be able to spend more time with my boyfriend.” You said with a smile.
“Sounds lovely.” He said, giving you a smile of his own. “Maybe this year we can actually decorate the house for Christmas.”
“Yeah, maybe we can.” You chuckled. “It has been a while since I have last decorated a house for Christmas.”
“Last year, we were both just glad to spend Christmas together.”
“It was quite a rush last year. We were almost late for the dinner at your parents’ place.”
“I don’t think mom would forgive me if we couldn’t make it.” Charlie grinned slightly, rubbing the back of his head.
“She probably wouldn’t like it, she would forgive you if it did happen though.”
“Maybe, or she will forgive me because of you.” He said amused.
“We will make sure to make it on time this year. Maybe we should be there early just to be sure.” You chuckled.
The next morning you woke up, feeling a bit under the weather. Nothing too bad, but you could tell you definitely caught a cold. You ran a hand through your hair and looked beside you. Charlie was still sleeping and you definitely weren’t going to wake him up. You slowly got out of the bed and walked over to the window. You opened the curtains a little and peeked out of the window. The snow was still out there, maybe even more than yesterday. It has been a while since you have been out in the snow and thought it might be a good opportunity to check it out.
You knew it might not be the best thing to do when you already feel like you have a cold, but you weren’t sure how long the snow would be out there. You quickly but softly changed into warm winter clothes before you headed to the hallway to put on your coat, gloves, hat and shoes. Once you put on everything to keep you at least safe from the cold, you headed outside.
The view was beautiful in your opinion. If there was a time you loved taking walks then it was the winter. Well, at least when it was snowing and freezing. Everything was covered in a layer of snow or ice. Maybe you liked the winter so much, because your mom loved the season. Whenever you were outside with her during a snowy day, she would tell you how pretty everything looked in the snow. It was before your parents were a bit depressed about Jacob’s disappearance, but the way she looed at everything was refreshing.
You didn’t need to have snowball fights or make snowmen during the winter months to enjoy yourself as a kid. You could easily enjoy the winter by taking walks or just stare out of the window, imagining things. Perhaps that was one of the few things you and your mom had in common. Even though she accepted you and Jacob were Curse-Breakers, she still wasn’t fond of the idea. She preferred you working in the Ministry of Magic. Even if you would work in the Ministry of Magic, you probably would have chosen for a path she didn’t like. Everything you would choose was too dangerous in her opinion. As for your dad, he didn’t have much of an opinion about it. He usually just sided with your mom.
  “You forgot your scarf, love.”
You were startled and quickly turned around to face Charlie.
“Oh, I guess I did.” You said honestly.
Charlie put the scarf around your neck and kept his eyes around you. “At least you remembered to put on gloves and a hat.” He joked.
“Maybe I just need to take a course to remind me how to dress properly during the winter.” You joked, giving him an amused look.
“Or a course where they teach you what you should do when you have caught a cold.” He said when he gently poked your nose.
You blushed slightly. Was it that obvious you caught a cold? “I guess I have a lot to learn.” You grinned awkwardly. “How could you tell I have caught a cold?”
Charlie shook his head with a small grin. “I have known you for quite a while, Y/N. For example, your nose becomes red and your cheeks get slightly more colour. Besides, I heard you sniffling softly when you were dressing yourself.”
“Did I wake you up when I was dressing myself?” You raised an eyebrow.
“More like when you got out of the bed.”
“Charlie Weasley, you could have something when you peeked at me when I was dressing myself.” You said with a smirk.
“It’s not like I have never seen you do that before.” He said with a chuckle.
You bend down and quickly made a snowball. “Still, peeking at me isn’t really cool, Charlie.” You mumbled. “I think I have to punish you with this snowball.”
Charlie raised an eyebrow. “You aren’t actually going to throw a snowball at your boyfriend, are you now?”
“Well, it would be a good way to cool down after working with dragons all the time.” You joked before you threw the snowball at him. You definitely had hit him.
“Since you already threw a snowball against me, then I suppose it means war, Y/N.” He smirked before he began making snowballs himself.
It was the start of a long snowball fight between you two. You couldn’t remember the last time you had a snowball fight with Charlie, but this one probably was more fun than the ones you had with him before. At least, in this snowball fight you teased each other a lot.
“I get why they didn’t make you a chaser for the Quidditch team, Charlie. Your aim is really off.” You said with a smirk.
“That’s probably the reason why you didn’t play for a Quidditch team at all, Y/N.” He said with a wink.
“Maybe I wasn’t too good at playing Quidditch, but I definitely was a pro at playing Gobstones back then.” You said with a shrug.
“What? All you did was confusing us whenever we played Gobstones.” Charlie said when he raised an eyebrow at you.
“Exactly my point.” You said when you managed to throw a snowball in his face. “Do you surrender now, Charlie?”
“Never.” He smirked when he moved closer to you.
You raised an eyebrow at him and smirked. “Do you also have a special trick?”
“Maybe.” He said before he pulled you towards him.
You both ended up falling in the snow. “Very smart, Charlie. You wanted us to both lose the fight.” You chuckled.
“Well, it didn’t seem like you would give up any time soon.” He laughed. “Besides, it would be time for us to warm up again, don’t you think so?”
“I suppose it would be the right time for some tea or hot chocolate.” You said with a grin.
Charlie stood up again and then he offered you his hand.
You took his hand with a smile. “Thanks.” You said when he helped you up.
“No problem, love.” He said before he led you inside.
“Let’s hope your cold doesn’t get worse because of little snowball fight.” Charlie said with a small grin.
“Just hope you don’t get a cold yourself, Charlie.” You said with a wink. “It won’t be much fun if we both get sick, right?”

Fallz
Fall 2017. New year, new drama.
Valerie Azarola & Max Azarola
She stepped onto the football field with a stupid grin on her face. It was dark, so only the white of her teeth and small patterns of pink across her dress showed with the black lights set up all around them. At the end of welcome week for the freshman, their “school” held a rave-type movie night. Out of all the activities, it was the only one most of the new meat actually showed up to. Even seniors, so tired of the place they could barely stand it, moseyed out of their suites to see the action. The movie wasn’t actually what it was all about, unsurprisingly. Being that the old football field wasn’t technically on campus, it wasn’t in control of the school and alcohol wasn’t uncommon in its indiscreet little red cups. Valerie had met nearly all of her friends now at the very event almost two years ago. Then she was so timid she clung to her cousin the entire time, his stoic meanness scaring off everyone except Ally. Now she wasn’t even sure where he was. As soon as she hit the end zone, they parted ways. He with his fellow art nerds and Val with Lukas towards the keg.
Now, she carried two cups as she picked her way across the field back towards him. It was already crowded and when she finally reached them, they were only half full. “Well, I tried,” she grumbled, handing one to Lukas. Valerie doubted he heard her with the music pounding throughout the stadium. She wondered how many calls the cops had already gotten, said they’d do something about, and continued on with their paperwork. There was probably a time where they tried to control it but now just found it pointless. Looking up at the blonde boy, she squinted to try and make out his face in the dark. The music shifted to a song she faintly recognized. Her body began to move along to the beat, though subtly. Into the beat, she jumped when someone grabbed her waist. Valerie turned to see Max and Ally. “Scared me,” she yelled over the music. Shrugging, Max took the cup from her hand and took a sip. A grimace stretched over his face and he handed it back to his cousin.
“Warm beer is awful,” he said. Valerie noticed the way his arm was hovering close around Ally’s waist but not quite touching. Everyone knew they were together by now; she honestly couldn’t figure out why they didn’t just act like it. Maybe that was just their style. That, or she’d gotten used to Lukas always seeming to have his hands on her when they were somewhere with a lot of eyes. It was probably just his weird show of dominance but the romantic part of her mind liked to turn it into something more.
Max still didn’t like Lukas, which didn’t surprise her. He did, however, get over his moodiness with her and was able to be civil with him. Valerie could tell Max was purposely standing so Ally was the furthest away from him, though. She couldn’t blame him, she guessed. “Do you know what they’re playing tonight?” He asked, brushing his hair behind his ears.
“Gotta ask Cam,” Valerie said, holding her beer. She wasn’t a fan of the drink cold or warm but had it as a safety in case the night went sideways. Max watched her tap her finger against the side of it idly and wondered if there was something she was nervous about. Maybe Lukas going off again. He just hoped he wasn’t around if it happened. Valerie would take Lukas’ side no matter what happened, which constantly pissed him off.
“You seen Ezra?” Max asked, angling to Ally. Valerie was already back into space, staring at Lukas to watch his mood. Already tired of it, Max stepped forward so Ally had to step back and increased the space between the pairs. “He’s still a little rough after his mom died. I get worried.” Max crossed his arms as the wind billowed around them, sending his blue shirt twisting around him and Ally. The music that was played held very little interest for him. He enjoyed the actual music, but the lyrics always made him a little queasy. Perhaps it was just the fact that his father raised them on the gospel: the rap genre wasn’t it for him. Maybe he did need a warm beer.
Katherine Palmer
“I think that’s it,” she murmured, planting her hands on her hips. Her dorm was complete- well, her side at least. She’d already met her roommate even though the girl was stuck at home for a few more weeks. It gave Kathy time to settle into college without having to step around the awkwardness of living with a stranger, though. That was nice. Plus, she had plenty of extra space to move the furniture around in. It was fine now, but so cookie-cutter.
Her brother made an appreciative “hmph” behind her, indeed loving the way it was. She turned and saw him flick his eyes away from her quickly. His eyes were all squinted, chin up and mouth just slightly pursed. Assessing, always freaking assessing. “Charlie-“ Kathy began, tone taut.
“No, no,” he interrupted, waving his hands in front of him. “I’m not going to go all parental on you. Just wanted to see if you were okay, you know. This was yours and mom’s thing for so long.”
Ah, so that was it. Kathy supposed he would bring it up at some point or another. Their parents were supposed to be the ones doing this. Helping her move, co-signing on any paperwork, her father giving the boys in the hall stink eyes even though he should have looked the other way. She hadn’t even gotten a chance to tell them before the crash. Her mother, the daughter of two gay men, would have been ecstatic to know. In all honesty, Kathy presumed her mother already did know. Now she’d never get to tell them. Her father would be able to handle Charlie’s friends being around comfortably and not freak out when one of them looked at her. Overprotective to the core, he was. Kathy’s heart clenched knowing she wouldn’t be getting calls from him every night. Annoying after a while but she’d take them forever over never again. As her eyes connected with her brother’s, she could tell their minds were orbiting the same path. It was only a month ago that they died. For a while, Kathy had thought she wouldn’t even make it to college. She didn’t want to leave Charlie alone but part of her wondered if she didn’t want to be alone herself.
“I’ll be fine, really. This is good.” Kathy dropped her arms from her sides and stepped back to her bed. She adjusted the pillows absently. “But I need to go, if I’m going to make it to that movie. I’m already the latest to move in.”
Charlie nodded, ducking his head. He scuffed his foot across the ground for a few seconds before he looked back up. His eyes were beginning to get puffy. Kathy frowned and wrapped her arms around his skinny waist. “Don’t worry about it, bubs. I’ll even tell you where my stash is at home?”
Laughing, Charlie kissed the top of his sister’s head and detangled her arms. “I found that ages ago, stupid. You aren’t a good hider.” He grabbed his keys from the desk and left with a wave. They never had said ‘I love you’ to each other. Kathy brushed her palms over her shorts when she was alone and took a deep breath. It was now or never. She checked her hair in the mirror but the stands were helplessly tangled from the wind in Charlie’s convertible. Well, it would be dark at least.
At the football field, it was already packed. She knew she was supposed to be in the top end zone for announcements or whatever. Kathy should have actually been there much sooner considering she was new to the student government committee, but she couldn’t help traffic. Snaking her way through the crowd, she ignored the beers offered to her, knowing something more enticing would come her way soon. At the front, nearly everyone else she’d met earlier that summer in camp was already there. “Hi,” Kathy said, waving a little. A boy she remembered best stepped forward and wrapped her in a side hug. “Been a while, huh?” She asked, nudging him. During that month, she probably spent most of her time with him. Matt was his name. Kathy scanned the people standing around her, trying to see any new faces. She paused briefly at a girl with brown hair, tangled like her own, and bright green eyes. Woah, she thought, taking a gulp. Good thing she hadn’t been at their summer camp.
Apollo & Artemis “Rin” Riley
“You really let Shane drag you to this?” Artemis asked, narrowing her eyes in barely hidden distaste.
“I’m a pushover,” Apollo said. His look mirrored her own. Except, that was entirely false. He wouldn’t, in the slightest, do something he didn’t want to. So despite his initial protests, some part of him must have wanted to go. Maybe it was just to start his year off just like everyone else. But, and this was a firm but, he wasn’t going to go to his chemistry class the next morning with a hangover and someone else’s underwear around his neck like last year. Even though that had ended rather well for him, considering the boy beside him still had the pair to this day.
His twin pushed her hands into the pocket of the garment she had called a romper and shifted her weight. With their shoulders pressed against each other, he felt a little bit of the unease going with each outward breath. It wasn’t like these things were really all that bad. Yes, it was full of boisterous, annoying, hair-brained, and erratic barely-adults full of liquor and questionable substances but that didn’t mean a decent time wasn’t somewhere in between. As long as Apollo didn’t have to taste flat beer or carry Artemis home because she was too green to realize fruity drinks didn’t mean alcohol-free, he would be mostly okay.
“I’m going to find Ally,” Artemis said, gathering her hair at the back of her neck. She kept it there a moment before letting it fall.
Waiting until she was out of earshot, Apollo leaned closer to Shane so he didn’t have to yell. “You know the drill. One eye on Rin all the time, or else she’ll be in a ditch tomorrow.” He loved her, really, but she was entirely too gullible to be on her own. Maybe if she hadn’t stayed at the conservative college down south for her first two years, all for the sake of a dumb scholarship, she could have learned more by now. Nonetheless, Apollo was happy she was somewhere he could watch her safely learn and try new things.
Artemis, however, wasn’t always as happy to have Apollo around. There were some things even a twin brother didn’t need to know about. With their being in the same circle of friends, her adventures often got back to him insanely fast unless she was cautious in only telling Ally. Even though she hadn’t exactly had a single “adventure” since she decided the social life wasn’t the life for her, he still watched her like a hawk. Honestly, she only ended up four hours away naked in a gas station bathroom once. Apollo didn’t think second chances were logical, though.
When Artemis found Ally, she paused. She looked like she was in a more serious conversation with Max, so she hung back until they saw her.
Apollo could just barely see the top of Artemis’ head. He recognized Max, and three others he probably knew but couldn’t remember. Good, there was more than one person to watch her. “Did Cam want us in the student government meeting? I don’t recall her saying anything,” Apollo said, looking at Shane. He adjusted the sleeves of his polo.
