The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Halls of Stone – TV Review
TL;DR – A Tail of Two Narratives, one compelling, one fraught with simplicity. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 3.5 out of 5. Disclosure – I paid for the Amazon Prime service that viewed this episode. The Rings of Power Review – Hmmm, we are now five episodes in and after last week’s Eldest and this week’s outing, it is clear that some fracture lines are appearing this season. On the one hand, we have story…

Charles Edward Bailey, BJU Class of 1962.
Rev. Dr. Charles ""Chuck"" Bailey died peacefully Saturday morning, December 21, 2024. Chuck was a long-time area pastor and professor who will be remembered and missed by many.
Chuck was born in Logan, WV in 1940 to parents Claude and Eunice Bailey. He went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from Bob Jones University, Master's from Roosevelt University, and PhD from the University of Virginia.
He married Deborah McFarlen on June 15, 1968. They moved to upstate New York in 1972 from Charlottesville, VA, where Chuck had accepted a teaching position at Adirondack Community College (now SUNY Adirondack). He also began to pastor the Fort Miller Reformed Church, where he preached and ministered to many for 42 years, retiring in 2014. In 2016, due to an impairment from a TBI, Dr. Bailey retired from teaching after 44 years at SUNY ADK as a distinguished professor of German, Comparative Religion, and European History.
Chuck enjoyed traveling frequently with his family, living in England, Germany, France, and Austria. He loved to perform magic tricks for his grandchildren. His passion for books led him to amass a small library of over 3,000 vintage books that he sold privately online and at antique sales. In the past five years, he made three cross-country RV trips with his sons to visit his hometown in West Virginia, his roots in Minnesota, and his family in Tennessee.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 56 years, Deborah Bailey of Greenwich; his three sons, Christopher Bailey of Wilton, Peter (Jen) Bailey of Cambridge, Jeremy (Danielle) Bailey of Schuylerville; his sister, Kay (Charles) Shafer of Kingsport, TN; niece, Shawna Shafer of Kingsport, TN; nephew, Dan (Laurie) Shafer of Flushing, NY; and his seven grandchildren, Isabelle (Andrew) Westerman, Mara Bailey, Emily Bailey, Eden (Fritz) Knecht, Ian Bailey, Anna Bailey, and Campbell Bailey.
Arrangements are in the care of the M.B. Kilmer Funeral Home, 123 Main Street, Argyle, NY 12809.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Argyle Presbyterian Church, 48 Main St, Argyle, NY on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 11 a.m., with calling hours beforehand from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The service will be streamed on the Argyle Presbyterian Church YouTube channel for those unable to attend. A private burial will follow the service at Riverside Cemetery in Fort Miller. All are invited to stay for a reception at Argyle Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, 846 Route 29, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 and Washington County Young Life, PO Box 253, Granville, NY 12832.

Perfect summary 🌟
the celebrimbor/annatar moment immediately after mirdania sees sauron's true form was such a good scene while also being really uncomfortable and unsettling, as most of their scenes in this episode were given the nature of what was happening but this one...
it felt so explicit in what it was saying: that this is an abuser, using weaponised incompetence to lure their victim back into their grasp after they've escaped them and the look on celebrimbor's face said it all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this moment makes both you, the viewer and celebrimbor question what was really going on in that moment. like, obviously it was deliberate but the thing with manipulators and abusers is that you can never really be sure. even if you are 100% certain, there's always that tiny moment of doubt that makes you question if you're actually right. that makes you question if you can fully trust your own perception of the truth or reality or if you're simply thinking the worst of them when you shouldn't be and that's what this moment kind of does and it does it in quite a scary accurate way.
because it leaves you questioning if sauron deliberately endangered the mirdain in that moment, if he really doesn't know the right or most appropriate way to make the rings or if he knew what could happen if they added more mithril or if he simply made a mistake etc. etc.
and as i said, celebrimbor's face really does say it all...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
whether this was intentional or accidental, sauron's got exactly what he wanted. celebrimbor realised in this moment that he has to be involved, one way or another, he has to be involved and contribute in making the nine despite being completely against it because who knows what might happen if he isn't.

Album Cover Hall of Fame News Update and Link Summary for November, 2023
Here's the summary of everything I could find in the world about album cover art and the people that make it and promote it. Enjoy and please share with friends and family.
Posted sometime November 1, 2023 by Mike Goldstein, AlbumCoverHallofFame.com Hello to all – this month’s summary will be a brief one as I was out on a road trip most of the month and, therefore, have not been able to devote a lot of time to the gathering and sharing of album art/artist-related information. With that said, while I was gone, the work done by these talented individuals continued…

I wanted to suggest that what we didn’t see on-screen could be quite violent, sometimes. A fear develops, and that would manifest itself in flinching very slightly when [Annatar] spoke suddenly. - Charles Edwards

What is Edwin Payne reading? : a closer look.
Tumblr media
From the flashback scene in the show, we get this very short shot of Edwin walking down the halls. Now, what he is reading tells you all about the Dead Boy Detectives’ love for detective and adventure stories. He is carrying a penny novel! (also known as dime novel in the US- and the names are due to their cheap prices of, you guessed it! One penny or one dime each) Precisely no. 87 of the “Aldine Tip-Top Tales”.
Tumblr media
But, what were the Aldine Tip-Top Tales you might ask yourself. Well, originally the name was:
Tip Top Detective Tales and it was one of the Aldine Publishing Company's many library series produced to capture the fancy of the youth of Great Britain. This particular one ran from 1910 through 1912 when it morphed into just Tip Top Tales, produced to include stories of adventure, as well as those of criminal content. With one exception, all of the novels included in the series were published anonymously. (The exception: Glittering Gold! by Emile Gaboriau -Tip Top Detective Tales #4).
Tumblr media
The Aldine Publishing Company was founded by Charles Perry Brown (1834-1916).
Some other titles included:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But, we see Edwin reading something else:
Tumblr media
Which happens to be The Strand Magazine! And this very one for this shot.
Tumblr media
The Strand Magazine was a British monthly magazine published from january 1891 to march 1950 (711 issues) in its original version (a new version of the magazine has been edited from 1998). George Newnes Ltd. was the publisher of the magazine and it was edited by Herbert Greenhough Smith from 1891 to 1930, then by Douglas Edward Macdonald Hastings.
Arthur Conan Doyle was a huge contributor with novels, short stories, poems and articles.
The Strand Magazine was also published in the United States from february 1891 through february 1916 but with sometimes different content.
Between 1891 and 1930, The Strand Magazine published no less than
• 121 short stories
• 70 articles
• 9 novels
• 2 interviews and 1 poem written by Arthur Conan Doyle.
And just in case you did not know who Arthur Conan Doyle was, well, let me just leave some of his works here as well, originally published in the Strand:

And these are just two of the infinite variety of novels Edwin Payne owns. :)
