The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Halls of Stone – TV Review
TL;DR – A Tail of Two Narratives, one compelling, one fraught with simplicity. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rating: 3.5 out of 5. Disclosure – I paid for the Amazon Prime service that viewed this episode. The Rings of Power Review – Hmmm, we are now five episodes in and after last week’s Eldest and this week’s outing, it is clear that some fracture lines are appearing this season. On the one hand, we have story…

Perfect summary 🌟
the celebrimbor/annatar moment immediately after mirdania sees sauron's true form was such a good scene while also being really uncomfortable and unsettling, as most of their scenes in this episode were given the nature of what was happening but this one...
it felt so explicit in what it was saying: that this is an abuser, using weaponised incompetence to lure their victim back into their grasp after they've escaped them and the look on celebrimbor's face said it all.
this moment makes both you, the viewer and celebrimbor question what was really going on in that moment. like, obviously it was deliberate but the thing with manipulators and abusers is that you can never really be sure. even if you are 100% certain, there's always that tiny moment of doubt that makes you question if you're actually right. that makes you question if you can fully trust your own perception of the truth or reality or if you're simply thinking the worst of them when you shouldn't be and that's what this moment kind of does and it does it in quite a scary accurate way.
because it leaves you questioning if sauron deliberately endangered the mirdain in that moment, if he really doesn't know the right or most appropriate way to make the rings or if he knew what could happen if they added more mithril or if he simply made a mistake etc. etc.
and as i said, celebrimbor's face really does say it all...
whether this was intentional or accidental, sauron's got exactly what he wanted. celebrimbor realised in this moment that he has to be involved, one way or another, he has to be involved and contribute in making the nine despite being completely against it because who knows what might happen if he isn't.

Album Cover Hall of Fame News Update and Link Summary for November, 2023
Here's the summary of everything I could find in the world about album cover art and the people that make it and promote it. Enjoy and please share with friends and family.
Posted sometime November 1, 2023 by Mike Goldstein, AlbumCoverHallofFame.com Hello to all – this month’s summary will be a brief one as I was out on a road trip most of the month and, therefore, have not been able to devote a lot of time to the gathering and sharing of album art/artist-related information. With that said, while I was gone, the work done by these talented individuals continued…

I wanted to suggest that what we didn’t see on-screen could be quite violent, sometimes. A fear develops, and that would manifest itself in flinching very slightly when [Annatar] spoke suddenly. - Charles Edwards

What is Edwin Payne reading? : a closer look.
From the flashback scene in the show, we get this very short shot of Edwin walking down the halls. Now, what he is reading tells you all about the Dead Boy Detectives’ love for detective and adventure stories. He is carrying a penny novel! (also known as dime novel in the US- and the names are due to their cheap prices of, you guessed it! One penny or one dime each) Precisely no. 87 of the “Aldine Tip-Top Tales”.
But, what were the Aldine Tip-Top Tales you might ask yourself. Well, originally the name was:
Tip Top Detective Tales and it was one of the Aldine Publishing Company's many library series produced to capture the fancy of the youth of Great Britain. This particular one ran from 1910 through 1912 when it morphed into just Tip Top Tales, produced to include stories of adventure, as well as those of criminal content. With one exception, all of the novels included in the series were published anonymously. (The exception: Glittering Gold! by Emile Gaboriau -Tip Top Detective Tales #4).
The Aldine Publishing Company was founded by Charles Perry Brown (1834-1916).
Some other titles included:
But, we see Edwin reading something else:
Which happens to be The Strand Magazine! And this very one for this shot.
The Strand Magazine was a British monthly magazine published from january 1891 to march 1950 (711 issues) in its original version (a new version of the magazine has been edited from 1998). George Newnes Ltd. was the publisher of the magazine and it was edited by Herbert Greenhough Smith from 1891 to 1930, then by Douglas Edward Macdonald Hastings.
Arthur Conan Doyle was a huge contributor with novels, short stories, poems and articles.
The Strand Magazine was also published in the United States from february 1891 through february 1916 but with sometimes different content.
Between 1891 and 1930, The Strand Magazine published no less than
• 121 short stories
• 70 articles
• 9 novels
• 2 interviews and 1 poem written by Arthur Conan Doyle.
And just in case you did not know who Arthur Conan Doyle was, well, let me just leave some of his works here as well, originally published in the Strand:
And these are just two of the infinite variety of novels Edwin Payne owns. :)

Can you do Separately what The Yandere Tudors Men (Edward Seymour, King Henry VIII, Charles Brandon and Thomas Boleyn) would give their Wife a really, REALLY expensive necklace either as a wedding present, a just because present or something following the birth of one of their children?
Hello. I hope you like it.
King Henry had passed many difficult trials to marry you. You will never forget the moments of lust and desire you experienced on your wedding night throughout your life. King Henry shed tears of joy when he received the news that you were pregnant. He took very close care of you throughout your pregnancy, unlike usual. Not even a minute was left outside the door of the room where you gave birth for hours. He was praying to God for you and the baby to be delivered safely. When the birth was finally over, he quickly entered the room. You were tiredly smiling at your husband with your newborn son in your arms.
"My King. We now have a male heir."
King Henry came to you and kissed your forehead. It wasn't hard to understand that he was happy and proud from the look on his face when he held your son in his arms.
"My son."
King Henry proudly kissed his newborn son's forehead.
"Our son's name will be Edward. Prince Edward."
You smiled at your husband's words. King Henry gently placed Prince Edward in his crib. He handed you the box in his hand. Surprised, you take the box and open it. Inside the box was a necklace decorated with Tudor symbol roses and made of expensive jewellery.
"My King. This is beautiful."
"Not as much as you."
King Henry took the necklace out of the box and placed it around your neck elegantly.
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
You were Charles' third wife. Honestly, you never thought that an arranged marriage would turn into love. Charles was a possessive and passionate husband. Even though his love was suffocating at times, you had learned to cope. Charles did not yet have a son. This meant that a big task was on your shoulders. You got pregnant shortly after the wedding. You honestly thought your husband would move away from you and take mistresses. But it didn't happen as he thought. Months later, you gave birth to healthy twin boys. You would never forget the smile on Charles' face. He held his sons in his arms and wasn't afraid to talk about how proud he was. One of your sons was named John and the other Edmund. After naming the babies, Charles gave you a very dazzling necklace as a gift. From what you heard from your bridesmaids, Charles paid a really large amount of money for this necklace.
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
Your wedding to Thomas Boleyn was modest. You came from a noble and powerful family. Frankly, your mother and father were not very keen on this marriage. After all, Thomas Boleyn did not promise great possibilities. After months of conversations, you had finally managed to gain your family's approval. You were getting ready in your room on the wedding night. Thomas slowly pokes his head through the door.
"I got you something, honey. Your wedding gift."
"There was no need, my dear. It is a great gift for me to know that we can spend our lives together now."
"My beautiful wife. I am truly a very lucky man."
Thomas holds out the box he keeps behind his back. You slowly take the box and open it. There is a really expensive necklace inside the box.
"Thomas. This is too expensive."
"I couldn't have a big wedding that suits you. I should have at least bought you a gift that suits you."
"Thank you, Thomas. I will keep this necklace for the rest of my life."
◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇◇
Your wedding to Edward Seymour was beautiful. It was literally like a fairy tale. Queen Jane had spared no expense for her brother's wedding. The wedding hall was decorated very beautifully. A luxurious wedding dress and a wonderful flower bouquet were prepared. After you put on your wedding dress, the bridesmaids did your make-up and hair. You were waiting for the ceremony to start. There is a knock on your door.
"Come in."
Edward comes in. Edward has a look of admiration on his face.
"Oh my God. You look like an angel."
"Edward, you're embarrassing me."
"I came to give you a gift. I hope you like it."
When you open the box, you are surprised to see the expensive necklace inside.
"Oh. Edward, that's beautiful."
"I'm glad you liked it, my beautiful."

Dogs Bracket is here! It turns out a lot of these dogs are horses, but there was exactly 32, which is perfect for our purposes 🐶🐴🦁
Currently on Round 2
Most of us are i think familiar enough with the stories that this wont be a surprise, but just in case i do want to warn that a few of these illustrations feature violence against or by the animals in question, i'll tag those specifically when we get to their polls as 'animal violence'
Full list of competitors under cut:
(Illustrations in blue have been eliminated)
[Colliers Cover Illustration] Missing Three-quarter, FD Steele
"On the ledge of rock above this strange couple stood three noble buzzards" Study in Scarlet, Charles Doyle
"He laid his hand upon the glossy neck." Silver Blaze, Sidney Paget
"Close to the door of the cage lay Mrs. Ronder, with the creature squatting and snarling above her." Veiled Lodger, FD Steele
"Silver Blaze" Silver Blaze, Sidney Paget
"Phosphorous!" I said. Hound of the Baskervilles, Sidney Paget
"THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES." Hound of the Baskervilles, Sidney Paget
"There's our man, Watson! Come along." Hound of the Baskervilles, Sidney Paget
"The carriage rattled past." Missing Three-quarter, Sidney Paget
"There in the centre lay the unhappy maid where she had fallen" Hound of the Baskervilles, Sidney Paget
"THE DRIVER POINTED WITH HIS WHIP—'BASKERVILLE HALL,' SAID HE" Hound of the Baskervilles, Sidney Paget
"I SAW HIS EYES FIX THEMSELVES OVER MY SHOULDER." Hound of the Baskervilles, Sidney Paget
"Holmes crouched behind the bush with the dog as the carriage approached." Shoscombe Old Place, FD Steele
"Running up, I blew its brains out." Copper Beeches, Sidney Paget
"Holmes gazed at it and then passed on." Abbey Grange, Sidney Paget
[Mycroft's brougham] Final Problem, Harry C. Edwards
[Woman with horse] Shoscombe Old Place, FD Steele
"As I slipped the bars it bounded out, and was on me in an instant." Veiled Lodger, FD Steele
"The dog sniffed round for an instant, and then with a shrill whine of excitement started off down the street." Missing Three-quarter, Sidney Paget
"Dog and man were rolling on the ground together, the one roaring in rage, the other screaming in a strange shrill falsetto of terror." Creeping Man, HK Elcock
"Holmes darted forward and barred their way." Lady Frances Carfax, Alec Ball
"They bundled him into a cab that was beside the kerb" Red Circle, HM Brock
[The professor and his dog] Creeping Man, FD Steele
"Holmes emptied five barrels of his revolver into the creature's flank." Hound of the Baskervilles, Sidney Paget
"We got off, paid our fare." Speckled Band, Sidney Paget
"We were to go to the theatre… suddenly he darted away into the fog." Bruce-Partington Plans, FD Steele
[MacPherson's Dog on the beach] Lion's Mane, FD Steele
"THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES." [Frontispiece] Hound of the Baskervilles, Sidney Paget
"How far to Wallington?" Cardboard Box, Sidney Paget
""Too late, Watson; too late!" cried Holmes" Solitary Cyclist, Sidney Paget
[Lion] Veiled Lodger, FD Steele
"At the same moment Holmes stepped out and released the spaniel." Shoscombe Old Place, Frank Wiles
Full graphic with nothing greyed out:
And finally, i wanted to include every animal illustration, but i did leave out the two from Blue Carbuncle with dead geese, those are not dogs they are ingredience.
Edit: I realised i completely messed up the order of polls in the original bracket, all fine for round 1's results but would have caused problems for round 2. The current one is correct, but obviously had to be shuffled around a lot, so the numbers by each one show their order from round 1 for future reference, sorry bout that!
#acd holmes#sherlock holmes#tumblr bracket#sherlock holmes illustrations#dog polls#R1 dogs#not starting this Just yet because i dont wanna be keeping up with it while im travelling#but i'll get it all set up and then start round 1 once im back from ireland <3#oh also i left out a spider? more bc it was a title banner (chas) than anything else

Badminton House
Hi guys!!
I'm sharing another grand english state!
House History: The medieval House was owned by the Boteler family from whom, in 1612, Edward Somerset, fourth Earl of Worcester, purchased the manors of Great and Little Badminton. Some years later, he gave Badminton to one of his sons, Sir Thomas Somerset who was the first to make what would be many significant alterations to the original House.
The Somersets are descended from John of Gaunt, and the dukedom of Beaufort was created by Charles II in 1682, being granted to Sir Thomas’ great nephew, Henry Somerset, 3rd Marquess of Worcester in reward for his service to the Royalists in the Civil War. The first Duke and Duchess carried out extensive works on the House, Gardens and Grounds.
More history: https://www.badmintonestate.com/the-estate/history/
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This house fits a 64x64 lot and features several impressive rooms, more than 29 bedrooms, a servants hall and several state rooms!
I only decored the main rooms, for you to have a glimpse of the distribution. The rest is up to you, as I have stated that I do not like interiors :P
We warned, I made modifications to the floorplan to fit the church, so that conection with the main house is quite weird.
You will need the usual CC I use: all of Felixandre, The Jim, SYB, Anachrosims, Regal Sims, TGS, The Golden Sanctuary, Dndr recolors, etc.
Please enjoy, comment if you like it and share pictures with me if you use my creations!
