gonna be honest, i was pretty uninvested in my other mcl ng ocs because i just didn't know how to make them fit into this story considering we're in amoris still... and well, still haven't figured it out for my main character haha, but this post gave me a lil idea!!!

i think my ocs will be... my guardians' kid🧍‍♀️idk yet how i'm gonna make it work in my head considering she has an actual family in-game but... idkkk lemme cook and make sense of all of this later on

Y'all are gonna think I'm so weird.

But I'm running with this idea I've had for a while for my mcl ocs. Well, other than the actual other mcl ocs I've made.

It's part lazy, part bizarre.

Clones.

Yep, clones.

My MCL NG oc is a clone of the original Puku, but different. I haven't figured out the details yet, but it's like what I did with Pukun, Puku's male clone. It has the idea of a type of clone theory idea of nature vs nurture. The DNA and nature of the puku clones is the same, but the nurture is always a bit different depending on circumstances. Puku "prime" is the parent of all the clones made, but Puku "prime" had a different parentage and upbringing than the clones. Not to mention, the events of each mcl game has different outcomes for clone Puku.

This Puku has -teal- hair and is a zoomer, I guess. Raised by Puku "prime" and has the existential grappling of dealing with being a clone in general.

There's... still a lot of ironing out to do. Like... Where does Kentin fit into all this? How should I incorporate the family given to Puku 2.0 in New Generation?

* To be more accurate, this is a common-ish phrase that best translates to "Honesty doesn't pay.", but it didn't fit well with the phrasing, so I changed it up.

** This does not read well but what she means is that Maki and Rin are also strangers, so technically, her words also apply to herself.

*** My interpretation of this part of the song is that Maki is telling to Rin that once their project is finished, so will their supposed friendship. I don't think it was meant maliciously, but rather she wanted Rin to reach out to her to stay friends. Rin's response is important, because she uses the word shinyu'u, which is like BFF but much more? Someone who knows you most. That's how she described what her dream of friendship with Maki was. And as you can see in the next parts of the song, Maki reaches out and offers her hand to Rin, singing together for the first time, yet is also the first time Maki actually says that she likes Rin. The clicker here is that Maki and Rin do like each other a lot, they clearly just chose not to communicate for half the song because it was obvious they were both in love! Clearly. Entirely. Yeah. So this is yuri. Obviously.

Stella!

She��s an old oc! One I made after being inspired by @little-puku ’s Papa Ingo au! Stella, however, gets adopted by Emmet! All during the Ingoless period of his life. Their relationship, ups and downs, are my favorite thing to think and write about at the mo. So expect some stuff about her for sure!

Thank @peachsodama for such a wonderful job yet again! She’s wonderful at bringing ocs to life!

"No, Stella." Emmet takes the fruit gummies from her hands and places them back on the shelf. "We have a list. We are following the list."

Stella frowns harder for a moment, squinting at the gummies she's been denied. But as Emmet starts to walk further down the aisle with the cart, she's quick to follow, holding onto his coat for good measure.

When she lets go again, Emmet sighs to himself. He turns around, seeing Stella hold up another box, these of iced cookies shaped like the various Eeveelutions. She wilts under his blank stare, though, and sadly places them back herself.

Emmet almost wants to let her have one of the snacks she keeps bringing him, but none of them are remotely healthy. Stella might be the first child Emmet has properly cared for, but he knows that snacks in bright boxes with silly characters are usually not good. And the last thing Emmet wants is for Stella to get sick.

Arceus, he sounds like Drayden.

Little arms circle his leg, drawing him from his thoughts. Emmet looks down at where Stella clings to him, face hidden in his thigh as she tugs his coat closer around her. Down the aisle, a woman browses the snacks, a Herdier bouncing around her legs.

Emmet places a hand on Stella's back and quickly ushers her away, to the first aisle he can find without anyone or any Pokémon in it.

“Stoutland?” A small voice squeaks up to Emmet.

“Herdier.” Emmet corrects gently. He carefully strokes Stella’s hair from her eyes. She’s got her face pressed back into his leg, expression unreadable. It makes Emmet’s heart ache. “You were close!”

“Mm.” Is all Stella replies with. She steps away from Emmet, and any guilt or sympathy Emmet feels is erased when she holds up a box of chocolate bars. "Sweets?"

"That is it." Emmet scoops Stella up, ignoring her high pitched squawk, and places her in the child's seat of the cart. "You are in time out. No more snacks that are not on the list."

Stella pouts, but says nothing, merely playing with Emmet's tie as they continue their errand.

“You got macaroons.” She mutters. “Not on the list.”

“Hush.” Is all Emmet can say. “You weren’t supposed to see that.”

According to the illustrator, this image was drawn for a four-panel comic. There’s no confirmation that it’s an official comic, but it’s still possible since these magazines have comics and activities featuring characters from other franchises such as Kirby, Pokémon, Puku Puku Awawa-chan (pictured below), and Animal Crossing.

There’s also a possibility that the magazine had more than one Furby comic, since some characters have had multiple short comics in the magazines. The picture below is from a dead listing for another Chara Parfait magazine.

how I came up with Coheeh

I found out about an extremely small genre that I call “flat works”. They are stories that aim to teach about hypothetical worlds that have more or less spacial dimensions than us (think flatland or the planiverse). I wanted to make a story similar to this. Most of the extremely limited number of projects that existed were all horizontal instead of vertical, so I decided to make my project vertical. I’ve always liked the planiverse more than flatland, anyway.

In the Planiverse, the character “Yendred” is more or less an anagram of the creator’s name, “Dewdney”. I wanted to do something like this with my main character, but I didn’t want to use my name because of confidentiality, so I decided to look up names that meant flat. In the end, all I could find was the Japanese name “Kohei” meaning “wide and flat”. I was afraid to make a yendredization of this name because I was scared of being accused of cultural appropriation, so I decided to make Coheeh’s human friend Kohei and have him be Japanese. This was so it would be clear that I took inspo from a Japanese name, and I wouldn’t take all the credit.

anyway, just for your info, I like to call the act of turning a backwards and/or changing some of the letters and/or pronunciations in a word to make it sound more Alien. Like how, in bionicle, Jala’s name was changed to Jaller (well… that sounds less alien), Huki’s was changed to Hewkii, Puku’s was changed to Pewku (haha pewkus all over the floor), the game of Koli was changed to Kohlii- you know what I mean. I mean the reason for the change was to avoid a lawsuit, but hey, Potato Pohatu, amiright?

No cap, I was legit self conscious about how I sometimes take inspo from real words, some even Polynesian, but you wouldn’t notice. But, I have realized that I, a teenager, utilized real life words better and more respectfully than Lego, a multi million dollar company. Is that sad or what? What do you think about my naming techniques?

Hi folks! I just wanted to share a project that I've been slowly working on for some time: a wiki for the Aquapets toys from the 2000s! There is so little information out there about them so I wanted to created a space to archive it all. I'm planning to cover the first and second generations of Aquapets toys as well as their predecessor (Puku-Puku Angel) and their spin-offs (Liquifreaks and Dino-Mites). So far I just have some general informative articles up about the brand and each spin-off but I'm planning to catalog every character and toy in depth as time goes by. Magical Vacation trivia - Aquarim

Although the water peoples' unique Aquarim Language may seem like nonsense at first, you can actually rearrange the characters and rewrite them in their proper script to get full sentences.

For example, one of them says:

ほキうノ　にっタ　バおンさーモ　シかムか　ワはカいッた　プク。

Hokiuno nitta baonsaamo shikamuka wahakaitta *puku*.

Then we can rearrange the text to make this:

ほうキにノっタ　おバーさンモ　ムかシは　かワいカッた

And by changing characters to their proper scripts, we get:

箒に乗ったおばあさんも昔は可愛かった。

Hōki ni notta obaasan mo mukashi wa kawaikatta.

"Grannies who ride broomsticks used to be cute."

Except when Blueberry is in the party, she translates it as:

カ���ルがギタイしていない影もいるらしいわ。

"Some shadows don't mimic frogs."

(In reference to the shadow creatures that inhabit Garam Masala, some of which are gummy frogs in disguise)

So I have a little pet project called Sworn Brothers.

It would be a Mario & Luigi-inspired RPG with a similar combat system. I also want to make the graphics and music as accurate to the GBA as possible.

The plot is that Ace survives Marineford due to Whitebeard taking the hit that would've killed Ace, and after the two-year timeskip, Ace meets up with Luffy on Sabaody, only for a portal to open up and send the two away to a realm called Fantasta.

I drew some of the major characters, too.

Puku accompanies Luffy and Ace on their escapades in Fantasta. He meets up with them shortly after they arrive in Fantasta and most of their skills have been sealed away (leveling up allows Luffy and Ace to unlock more of their skills, but Bond Moves (similar to Bros. Attacks) still need to be learned by completing certain sidequests while also having learned certain skills). Puku doesn't like to fight because he believes himself to be weak, but he has powerful magic abilities.

The Nightmare Demon King is the main villain, while Archibald is his second-in-command.

The Nightmare Demon King claims to have "discovered" the continent that Sworn Brothers takes place on, and sends his lackeys to get rid of all the inhabitants living on it. When he hears that Luffy and Ace have been defeating his army left and right, he's furious and orders his army to target them specifically.

Archibald is a Frankenstinian creature with the head of a tiger, the antlers of a stag, the body of a snake, the wings of a bat and the claws of a leopard. Archibald can only speak in one word sentences to highlight his animalistic nature ("KILL!", "YOU!", "WANT!", "MASTER!", etc.)

I've also started working on the script, but I don't feel ready to get a team to work on the game right now (I probably will since I'm not the best at coding, composing music, spritework, etc.)

Ja Myung Go (kdrama, 2009)

"Ja Myung Go" is centered around the three main characters, who are also the love triangle: Puku, Ho Dong, and La Hee. The two girls are half-sisters who grew up apart and didn't know each other, and Ho Dong is the love of both of them. It's exactly because of him that everything in the story falls apart, he's the reason for the ruin of an entire country.

Ho Dong used La Hee's feelings for him and made her make a horrible mistake. I couldn't believe how naive she was to believe his words and do all that, but it made sense in the development, what I didn't like was how the character Puku became. Puku learned martial arts from a young age and they made her a shaman and the whole thing about the magic drum, it was just stupid. The whole thing with Wang Hol and his sister-in-law is just creepy. She basically raised him as her son, but when he grew up, she fell in love with him? It's disgusting, like a mother falling in love with her own son just because her husband died.

I've always wanted to watch this drama, it has an amazing cast: Jung Ryeo Won, Jung Kyung Ho and Park Min Young working together, but it was disappointing, the development of the story was very weak, they ruined what could have been an amazing drama.

A character that has 2 scribbled pages?! WHAT! Anyway, meet the little goop in a suit, Puku!

Puku is a species of alien that consist of genderless, sentient slime intelligent enough to have their own planet many lightyears away from our own. Unfortunately, their planet was under attack by another species of aliens that were in a spree of conquering planets. Puku barely survived the onslaught (thanks to his small size) and found refuge by sneaking onto an intergalactic scrap metal ship. There, he found a metallic emote ball that allows him to emote his facial expressions. Later on, they came across a band of space pirates and became the team’s technician and have been given a suit to help them walk around in.

Fun Fact! The suit Puku is in is only about 5.5 inches tall (big enough for them!)

Did you practice art formally alongside drawing fanart or did your fanarts also serve as practice sessions? Were your practices focused like drawing hands only or just clothes only? My main goal when I first started drawing is basically to draw what I was obsessed with at the time, I started taking art seriously in middle school when I first made a short comic of my cat OC (whose design is a rip off of one of the characters in puku puku tennen kairanban manga) and showed it to my friends, they liked it and always asked me to make more.

Then in 8th grade my fondness for comic and art grew much more because my dad finally let me buy some manga at the bookstore (when I was in elementary school I had to hide this 90s shojo manga because I didn't want my parents to know I read such things), plus I shared the same interest with a close friend in middle school so I just kept making more and more comics of this series we liked, and idk, it just made me happy in some way, I got to draw my favorite characters, was able to realize this random scenario of said characters in my head, and made my friend happy on top of that.

I'm majoring in graphic design but I'm actually more interested in illustration and comic, so drawing fanart is like escapism for me because none of the subjects I took ever let me express my specific interest (I took a comic subject in the 7th semester and it was the only moment I could draw what I really wanted without the professors bashing me, I was even able to slip a Reigen cameo in one of the assignments)

And not gonna lie I think college didn't really help me much in terms of improving my drawing skill because they didn't teach us anything about the basics of illustration since the courses I was taking put more emphasis on graphic design, it DID help me hone the compositioning skill however. I guess the stress college has put me in made draw more fanart thus indirectly becoming a practice in and of itself.

And for the practice, I think you can say that, I didn't try to improve the big picture as a whole, instead it's done bits by bits, realizing mistakes once I'm able to observe things clearer and better. I remember when I was into AA I always drew the male bodies shaping like fridges and I didn't see anything wrong with it, but when I got into DGS I started to be able to see a mistake in that. I even realized the Reigen drawing above has bad a proportion even tho it seemed fine to me before.

I'm sorry if it gets a bit long, but it makes me happy that you're curious about these 🥰

Ken's always been my favorite from day 1, and I've always loved how you also loved this underappreciated guy, including his first adorable appearance.
