What do you think of, when you think "marble"? A little glass sphere for playing with? Maybe a particular stone, ready to be chiseled into a work of art? And what about when you think "kid"? A small and young human, most likely, but perhaps a young goat, instead.

Now obviously, if you think of both "marble" and "kid" at the same time, you imagine a big yellow ant head that moseys around on two legs with big green boots!

With Marble Kid, what you see written about it in my previous paragraph is what you get. Marble Kid thought "Thorax? Abdomen? No thank you, not for me!" and emerged from its pupal casing a waddling head. And then it put on some green boots. This creature clearly has nothing to do with marbles, but it's also not a kid! This is a larva no more! What do we know about Marble Kid, lore-wise?

Ah, just as I suspected! He wears green boots on his big feet. I sincerely apologized if you were a big fan of the "those are just his feet" headcanon, and perhaps drew fanart of him in various outfits, including with different shoes clearly worn on top of the green boots. History will not vindicate you, but nobody in the entire world would actually care. Here's a headcanon of my own: Marble Kid is just the right size to play with a marble as if it was a soccer ball, and wears the boots to protect his feet, because those would hurt to kick!

Marble Kid is not just what ants look like in this game. There are some quite standard cartoon ants in here! This is not a world lacking in thorax. Marble Kid is just different! And aren't you glad? I know I am.

Marble Kid appears in Ant Land, because this game has an Ant themed stage with various ant enemies (like Super Mario Land 2...!). More games should let you explore ant colonies like that! There can be so many unique takes on the concept! Underground tunnels, military bunker, bustling office, it could be interpreted all sorts of ways! But I'm sure most would not add something as silly as Marble Kid.

Sometimes, the game will remind you that, regardless of how much we love Marble Kid, it is an Enemy. It will require you to defeat Marble Kids by tripping them with your chameleon tongue and then spitting other ants at them. It will probably be okay, though. The queen can pop out some more, easy! Those Marble Kids served their colony well. They were born to hobble about on long legs, and hobble they effectively did. Pay attention, world, because THIS is what a hero looks like!

Interesting to note is that Marble Kid is yellow with green shoes, just like yellow Yoshi and yellow Shy Guy! Imagine the beautiful world in which Marble Kid is playable in Mario Kart 8, with nine selectable colors... wow! I c"ant" wait until I can shift into that reality!

Hello. I have never played Chameleon Twist in my life! I sure would love to, though. I feel like it is the epitome of scrimblo games. Croc will always be THE Scrimblo to me, but I don’t know! I just feel like Chameleon Twist is more raw, potent scrimblo energy, to the point that maybe it’s not healthy, but it is such a tantalizing indulgence I can barely resist.

Look at this. These are just some scrimblos. They are chameleons that turn into those. Literally new Scrimblo Forms just to justify them being platformer mascots now. It is awesome.

But what’s REALLY awesome is Flying Cookie! One of the enemies in this game is just this ice cream sandwich, with eyes and hands. I love it so much! It appears only in Kids Land, which I thought was very weird, since I would expect it to instead appear in Dessert Castle. Then I realized I was reading it wrong and that level is actually called Desert Castle. Hey! I never played the game! I just think it’s funny!

Everyone seems to just know it as the ice cream sandwich, but according to the manual, its name is Flying Cookie! Still AN ice cream sandwich, and still a very straightforward name, but I am happy to know its REAL name.

Flying Cookie appears alongside its little buddy, Choco Kid, who we know it loves, because everybody loves a Choco Kid. I can’t argue with that! If you don’t love a Choco Kid, then honestly, I’m sorry, but just get outta here.

Flying Cookie is honestly an incredibly basic enemy and it saddens me to say that. It just shows up, in just two rooms, and is sort of In The Way. But I love it!!! And it got to be on the level select screen and even the box art, so it is so very loved!

Flying Cookie floats in midair, and does this funny dance! Even in little sprite form, it is quite a distinct ice cream sandwich, and I can really imagine its flavor and texture. I think I would eat Flying Cookie? Like, I wouldn’t want to eat it if it is alive and have eyes, but I would eat the inanimate ice cream sandwich it is based on. Yeah.

That is sort of all there is to Flying Cookie! Very, very straightforward, but I love to look at this funny cookie, and I love to make YOU look at it. I am like a wizard, beaming imagery of Flying Cookie into your brains from miles away! I promise to only use my powers for Funny!
