Looking up Japanese floral design and now I know now that agarwood isn't just wood from a specific tree, it's wood from a specific tree infected with a parasitic fungus that leads the tree to secrete resin to try and fight it
#Path - wikipedia article on ikebana -> ikebana aka kadō is one of 3 important Japanese arts along with chadō (tea) and kōdō (incense) ->#article on kōdō mentions agarwood coming to Japan -> article on agarwood. Relatively short but interesting. Anyway the articles on kadō#Chadō and kōdō are all pretty long so I guess I live here now. Btw the Kanji is 華道 (kadō) / 茶道 (chadō/sadō) / 香道 (kōdō). The first characte#In each is Flower/Tea/Fragrance or Incense respectively and the dō is from the Chinese dao which means way both literally and figuratively#Like the same Dao/Tao as Daoism/Taoism. Also the k in kōdō is the same character as uh. Ok so at least in Mandarin it's 香港 aka Xiāng Găng#Aka Hong Kong. So idk what the actual characters in Hong Kong mean cause I only remember learning them as a place name#Also same character as the first character in banana aka 香蕉 (xiāngjiāo) so. Man Idk. Have fun with that
