#Cementoss x Chikara

Thinking of angry Cementoss. He should be allowed to loose his cool, thinking about him and Chikara bumping heads pre dating when the feelings are starting to grow stronger, but Chikara is too shy to talk about it and Cementoss simply doesn't know how to.

Thinking about Higari's siblings coming down to visit sometime after the Training Camp arc to make sure he's okay, Cementoss telling Chikara in particular to be careful when she's out and about because anyone close to UA staff members could now be a potential target for villains, Chikara (having not been in an actual villain related event before) tells Cementoss he's worrying too much and that she'll be fine. Chikara noticing how Cementoss is seemingly especially focused on her, always sending her glances when she comes back from somewhere, or offering to go along with her if she has errands to run, and before she knows it he's hovering around her near constantly

Chikara confronting him about it later that day, feeling embarrassed at all the fussing, telling Cementoss he can't put all his focus on one person's safety, saying he's playing favourites, blah blah argument starts. Cementoss remains calm yet stern but that only makes Chikara more annoyed that he's handling the situation, in her eyes, nonchalantly

Chikara storming out and going on a walk to clear her head, then the final battle between All Might and AFO happens. Chikara isn't directly near Kamino Ward when it happens, but she's in the nearby area, and the destruction of the fight reaches her. She manages to get off lucky, surviving mostly unscathed, but her leg is trapped under some rubble

She tries to stay calm, and after maybe thirty minutes heroes begin to sweep the area, Cementoss is the one who finds her.

Angry Cementoss, like really angry but also so incredibly worried Cementoss, being the silent type. Him just standing there eerily quite while Chikara tries to defend her own situation, because she KNOWS she's in it because she was the one who stormed out and didn't listen to his advice of being careful. Cementoss only speaking in small sentences, only a few words, as he addresses Chikara's trapped leg

He still ignores Chikara as she tries to say it's not that bad (it is), Cementoss saying she won't be able to walk on it and say's he'll carry her to a nearby medical station. Chikara profusely tries to deny him- and then Cementoss turns to her and reiterates again, she can't walk

Days after the event (and after Higari gave her a very thorough scolding for running off and driving him sick with worry-) Chikara is discharged from hospital and is recovering at UA for further safety reasons, she can walk on her leg for short distances but she's advised to not strain herself. Cementoss one day finally going to visit her and he finds Chikara trying to do something she shouldn't be for a reason not good enough - maybe tryna walk down a small flight of stairs - and he proceeds to give her the look, again

Them not really knowing what to say so they're both to the point and quite with each other

Eventually one breaks the ice though and they talk, and it ends with Cementoss convincing Chikara to rest. Much later Higari pops his head in to check on his sis and finds Chikara snoring in the bed, and Cementoss asleep in the nearby arm chair

I wanted to draw this as a Christmas thing but I didn’t know how to do it exactly but Chikara getting Cementoss a snow globe for Christmas

They'll never make me hate you Cementoss, underrated king. I wanted to have a crack at drawing a height chart with the Chiktoss family to settle how I want to draw Cementoss's proportions and I'm pretty happy with it!

I altered some things like removing his square kneecaps and gave his body more shape around the stomach, I like to think he's got a dad bod rather then just being...well, a cube with limbs

(This was originally just going to be practise for Cementoss and drawing him in certain poses to practise his new proportions, but this was funny to me and I drew it instead. Chikara is shameless, but in an oblivious kind of way)

When we first saw Cementoss in the anime I was convinced the guy was going to be one of the older teachers at UA, I just always pictured him as being on the more mature/older side, so I was in fact VERY shocked when I learnt he's only 28 (guy looks like he's pushing late thirties early forties-)

Because Cementoss is prolly one of the few teachers who isn't actively having years of life removed daily from his life span from stress, I like to believe instead he's become that one teacher that has learnt to just let the chaos happen and observe. That Bakugo kid from 1A nearly killed his classmate Midoryia? That's an average Tuesday.

When he and Chikara are in the early stages of the relationship she probably dubs him various playful nicknames (Tetris is what she has him listed as in her contacts). Along the line I can see Chikara calling Cementoss "old man", like in a scenario where Chikara assisted eagerly in one of Hatsume's experiments and got herself hurt, and Cementoss is - rightfully so - lecturing her, and the nickname just slips out

Cementoss at the time rolls his eyes at the nickname because he's more focused on the fact Chikara is hurt to begin with, but one day I can see him turning to Chikara and telling her he's only in his late twenties, and she's flabbergasted. I know I made a post with Powerloader's siblings ages ago, and I thiiink I posted their ages?? I think Chikara was 32, four years older than Cementoss, but Chikara would still be shocked to learn SHE'S technically the "old" one in the relationship

Cementoss: (stands up from the kitchen table with a grunt, paperwork strewn across it) Chikara: Pft, you good there old man? Not gunna keel over on me are ya? Cementoss: (groans a little and turns to her) I'm only twenty-eight, do I really look THAT old?

Chikara: (shocked)....What? Cementoss: (crosses his arms) How old did you think I was- Chikara: (pointing to herself, mortified) Thirty-two.... Cementoss: (blinks)...... Chikara: (looking down at her hands, flabbergasted) I've been calling you old man as a joke, for months. And all this time, I'VE THE OLDER ONE?!

After the shock I think Chikara's old man jokes would morph into teasing "When I was your age-" comments, to which Cementoss rolls his eyes again, and on the rare, rare, VERY rare occasion when Cementoss is feeling particularly smug, he may drop an "old lady" comment

Please, headcannons for cementoss x chikara. they are so soft to me!

They're soft to me too! Note I am still tryna figure out the main story beats for how they get together, so sorry if some of these headcannons are more/less detailed then others. I'm gonna do HC's for the main story beats I have so far, and then some smaller hc's towards the end which are more ship-y related

-So their first meeting I initially wrote in a story called "Bad Habits" but I'm changing a few things about it, mostly the angst factor. They met on Higari's birthday when Chikara stepped out for a smoke break, Cementoss smelt the smoke and thought it might have been a student smoking on campus so he investigated, until the two bumped into each other. They end up chatting and exchanging introductions, and Cementoss eventually ends up giving her the "You know smoking is bad for you right?" talk (as a hero and teacher he couldn't really help it, it just slipped out), out of concern as Higari's friend since Chikara is Higari's sister. Chikara doesn't take his speech personally and shrugs it off. The interaction ends on a good note and Cementoss giving her a plant, which he advices Chikara can take care of to help with her smoking (side note: When Cementoss is stressed I like to hc he gardens. Since his quirk demands him to be in the city a lot, gardening in a nice quite area helps relax him) Chikara playfully gave him her number to give him updates on the plant but she didn't really think the interaction would lead to anything

-Second meeting happens after the USJ incident, Higari's family comes down to the city to make sure he's okay. Cementoss rarely texted her so she assumed he wasn't all that interested in knowing about the plant and she moved on, but she later learns when the two have a moment to talk that Cementoss simply struggles with texting due to his large hands. Chikara is surprised but quickly recovers and the two soon find a comfortable rhythm and start chatting

-Instead of going home Chikara stayed down at UA to help with beefing the schools security. Chikara is the head engineer at the family business, so Higari asked her to stay to lend a hand while the others went back home. During her breaks her and Cementoss hang out more, mostly because Chikara didn't really know anyone else outside of Higari, who was busy organising repairs to students costumes that got damaged in the USJ. She stays down for the Sports Festival, checking on Cementoss after the blast from Deku and Shoto's fight, but is advised to go home by Higari after the Nomu event in Hosu (the one that takes place during Iida's fight with Stain). Higari takes her to the station to make sure she gets there safely, Chikara isn't able to catch Cementoss before she leaves, but is later surprised by a letter Cementoss sent to her. The letter stated how Cementoss was sorry he couldn't say goodbye to her before she left, how UA would be fine, and that he would keep an eye on Higari in the following days. It takes Chikara a few days before she guts up the courage to write back

-The two continue to exchange letters and this is where feelings start to develop. Both Chikara and Cementoss have never really had time for a relationship: Even since Chikara took over the business she hasn't focused a lot of time on romantic relationships and Cementoss, being a pro hero, teacher and someone with a bizarre physical appearance, also never gave them much thought. During this time the plant Cementoss gave her is all grown, so Chikara takes that as an excuse to surprise visit to show Cementoss. She ends up walking in to his classroom, not knowing he had a class that morning, but the two later meet up and have a nice chat

-The training camp incident later happens and Higari is called up to the camp to help clear the damage alongside Pixiebob and the other WWPC's, leaving Chikara at UA. While Higari is away helping at the camp Cementoss finds himself being protective of Chikara unconsciously due to the way he's grown to care about her, this leads to him sort of coddling/overcrowding her, which Chikara doesn't really know how to cope with so ends up getting snappy about it. Chikara ends up taking a walk and leaving UA campus, shortly before the fight between All Might and AFO happens. Thankfully she wasn't so close to the fight she got drastically hurt, she gets away with a broken leg. She's found and rescued by Cementoss who joined in on the search party, but both are still angry/awkward so they don't talk a lot, not until way later when Chikara is ready to be discharged from hospital

-The severe damaged caused by the fight delays a lot of travel going in and out of Japan, so Chikara is stuck there until it gets fixed. Cementoss for the most part is kept away in the city to help repair buildings and roads so it's not until Higari asks Cementoss to watch Chikara for the day on his behalf do the two talk at the newly built dorms. After getting over the awkwardness and apologising the two are friends again. The hotel Chikara had been staying at got destroyed in the battle, and since there was no room at the teacher dorms, with Higari's permission Cementoss offers Chikara to take residence in his old apartment, where he lived before the dorms. Chikara is hesitant at first but after a little persuasion agrees. During her recovery period the two talk more and turn from friends to very close friends.

-Once Chikara is all healed and ready to go back home Cementoss asks her out to lunch as a last goodbye before she leaves. Chikara wasn't sure if Cementoss was asking her out as a friend or something else, but she didn't dare bring it up out of embarrassment. Chikara ends up having a blast and when Cementoss see's her off at the station Chikara throws in a playful comment of how she'll have to treat Cementoss the next time she visits. The two keep up with their letters until the big fight with the PLF

-Way after the events of the final battle, and after travel in and out of Japan is deemed safe Higari's family once again all travels down for a big reunion. After seeing Higari Chikara goes to see Cementoss, who had otherwise been too occupied with helping restore the city that he hadn't been able to go to a hospital for a proper check up on his injuries. According to the wiki he was impaled by several shards of ice from Geten so needed surgery to help recover (the wiki also states he has a plate on his side because of this?? So idk how stitchings/surgery really work but roll with it). The scenario then flips as Chikara is the one who is constantly coddling/hovering around Cementoss, who finds her worrying endearing. They don't really have a big love confession, they just confess to liking each other and agree to take things slowly from there. Their first date happened after the city was restored and the two went to lunch

General ship-y headcannons:

-While Chikara was recovering with her broken leg her hair ended up growing longer. Overall Chikara wasn't all that invested in doing a lot with her hair and kept it up in a messy bun most of the time, but her broken leg took priority and she didn't realise her hair was getting longer until Cementoss pointed it out. Cementoss can't exactly style his hair thanks to his quirk, so he's in a small way fascinated by expressive hairstyles. He also likes the feel of hair since it's so different from his own. He compliment Chikara's hair when he noticed it starting to grow out and Chikara continued to let it grow out

-Chikara's leg fully healed before travel in and out of japan was deemed safe, but she continued to stay at Cementoss's old residence. When Cementoss wasn't working the two spent afternoons just chilling at his, often Chikara treated him with takeout as thanks for letting him crash at his, also because she felt bad for eating his food

-The plant that Cementoss gave Chikara they planted outside the teacher dorms. Chikara said something cheesy about how the plant would remind Cementoss of her when she went back home. Cementoss managed to rope Chikara into helping him put more plants around the teacher dorms to give it some flare for decoration and the two had a great time (Chikara at one point playfully flicked dirt at Cementoss who then flicked some back)

-Chikara isn't a very good cook, hence why she treated Cementoss to take out as thanks while she was recovering at his place. Out of the Higari siblings Chikara is probably one of the worse cooks, but when she went to visit Cementoss in hospital she managed to cook a stew to bring to him. Since the two got together Chikara's picked up cooking as a hobby and her diet has improved a lot

-Cementoss is confirmed to be a homeroom teachers to first years and they are sooo goddamn nosey you have no idea. After Chikara accidentally walked in on him teaching a class Cementoss was berated with questions from his class, who were all far more interested in questioning him rather then the work. The interactions would basically be this

Cementoss, turning away from the board: Does anyone have any questions? (looks to student who raised their hand) Yes?

Student 1: Who was that lady that showed up?

Cementoss, sighing: Questions about the work-

Student 2: Are they a new teacher or something? I didn't recognise them

Student 3: They didn't look like a student so are they a substitute?

Student 4: How do you know them?? Are they a sidekick?

Student 1: What about your wife? Are they your partner!

Cementoss:....You can only ask one question at a time

All the students: That last question-

Cementoss, turning back to the board: -Alright so moving on-

(more then once Cementoss has had to save Chikara from his students relentless questioning)

-Magakure had met Cementoss briefly before he and Chikara were dating, but it was only after the two were official did Magakure actually have her first conversation with him. Magakure's a tough cookie having raised five kids, and Chikara was a tiny bit nervous about introducing her to Cementoss. On the contrary to what Chikara thought was going to happen, Magakure loves Cementoss, she desperately wanted the two to get married. In her early adult years Chikara had a few relationships which lasted a few months, and most of her partners back then were just as reckless and energetic as she was. Magakure thinks Cementoss is a good fit with Chikara

You know what I think is lowkey adorable about Cementoss x Chikara?? That Cementoss spoils her

Cementoss does not have a great need for money, he is not a big spender. He barely ever dips into his bank account for big expenses, he's very mindful and vocal about saving money and spending it wisely. Plus he has two careers, a hero and a teacher, and further he probably helps out a LOT with repairing the city after villain attacks so I imagine he gets paid a lot for his efforts

Chikara's family on the other hand aren't poor, but they aren't rich either. Growing up in a house with four other siblings a lot of Chikara's belongings are hand-me-downs that used to be Higari's and Hono's, and the cost of feeding five mouths is was a big task for Magakure. They get by, but they aren't rolling in it, Higari helps out with expenses when needed, but everyone in the Higari family tree is butt stubborn about accepting financial help

And I just keep imagining scenarios where Chikara is complaining about stuff like a repair for her car, and Cementoss is like "Oh I got it" and bam car is fixed

Or he gets her something nice like a necklace (Chikara starts dabbling in wearing jewellery and more feminine things when she and Cementoss are dating) and Chikara just gawks at this seemingly priceless necklace she's been given like "Holy shit Ken I can't accept this-"

Cementoss in a suit, the man looks dapper! I rewatched the Save the World with Love episode today, and god Cementoss needs more love. Also his voice actor makes him sound like such a polite gentleman he fits the suit look!

In the morning Cementoss will wake up with Hoshi’s foot in his face and Chikara half hanging out of the bed like a ragdoll

Morning cuddles are rare as Chikara is a starfish sleeper and is often sleeping in weird positions or is half sprawled over Cementoss, but sometimes, on the rare occasion, Chikara and Hoshi will be sleeping peacfully and they all have a lazy morning snuggle

Big Brother

Mother instincts may have hit Chikara hard, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t need a littel reassurance every now and then 

(aka - please accept this small story of Higari comforting a tired Chikara)

“Aw, come on..please, go to sleep..”

The UA teachers' dorms were mostly quiet, save for the tired, soft voice of an exhausted mother. In her arms, Chikara gently rocked her son. He had long tuckered himself out and his wails had turned to tiny sniffly whimpers. His eyelids would slowly drop and almost close, before he’d jerk them back open again. 

“Twinkle twinkle little star, it’s time for you to sleep already..” Chikara watched hopefully as Hoshi’s eyes almost closed, before he let out a tiny sneeze and they snapped back open. Chakra sighed

“Pleease..” She resorted to begging as she looked down into Hoshi’s watery eyes “Mummy needs sleep too ya know..” In response, Hoshi gurgled and stuffed a lock of his mothers hair into his mouth to chew on. Chikara easily fished it out and tucked it behind her ear, only for Hoshi to whine louder 

Chikara sighed again

Knock Knock

She wouldn’t have heard if the room wasn’t so quite, but someone had knocked at the door. Who could that be?? Couldn’t be Ken, he wasn’t due back till tomorrow, Chikara slowly placed Hoshi down into his crib and walked to the door, barely stifling a yawn as she cracked it open to greet the visitor

Said visitor blinked at her tired state “Wow..You look like shit” Higari deadpanned

Chikara gave a strained smile “How kind of you to notice” Chikara pushed the door open wider, allowing light from her still lit dorm to flood into the hallway “What do you want?” she whispered

Higari rocked on his heels and shrugged “Decided I wanted to take a leisurely stroll..”

At that moment, from within the dorm, Hoshi began to cry again. Chikara visibly seemed to sink down as her head flopped back with a tired groan “And also see how you’re holdin’ up'' Higari finished 

Chikara turned back into the home with Higari following behind and closing the door. He followed Chikara, who he found in the bedroom by the crib. “No matter what I do he won’t sleep..” Chikara explained “I’ve tried everything: rocking him, singing to him, seeing if he’s hungry. Nothing” Hoshi whined louder when Chikara’s arms became still, Chikara blinked, her arms resuming their rocking motion which she hadn’t realised had stopped “At this point I think he’s crying just to make noise”

Higari hummed “Maybe” he moved towards the bed and sat down, patting the space next to him “Come on, you look like you need a seat more than me” Chikara complied, not having the strength to argue or bargain

“You don’t have to come and check on me you know” Chikara muttered, peering down to her brother “I’m capable of handling things myself” Higari nodded “Yeah” he said “..But you sure don’t look like it”

Chikara scowled, frowning deeply “You said yourself that Riley is heavy sleeper, you don’t get to comment on this” 

Once again, Higari nodded “True, she is” for a moment Chikara thought she had won the battle, only for Higari to turn round to her again and say “But as your big brother, I do get to comment on it”

“Oh here we go again..” Chikara pinched the skin between her eyes

“Chikara-” Higari started, Chikara could already imagine what he was going to say next: so she beat him to the punch. “Ugh, Higari you put on this stuck record everytime! Ain’t it just about worn out by now?”

Higari cocked his brow but didn’t move “Chikara-”

“I get it, alright! “You should make sure you’re getting enough rest”,“Don’t forget to check the bath temperature before giving Hoshi a bath”, “The more tired you are the less likely you’ll get things done” blah blah blah” She badly mimicked her brothers voice, leading to Higari further raising him brow at her immaturity. “Chikara-”

Chikara pointed a finger at him “Look just because you and Ecto have this parenting thing down already doesn’t mean I need your help, okay?” while Chikara continued, Hoshi had managed to grab at a lock of his mothers hair, instantly bringing it to his mouth to nom on “I can do this parenting thing just as - if not BETTER - than you! I can do this SO easily!”

Higari once again, didn’t move under his sisters annoying glare “Hm..” he unhurriedly pointing a finger towards Hoshi “He’s chewin’ your hair again”

Chikara blinked, muttering a confused ‘Huh?’ under her breath. “Wha-Hoshi!” Chikara tried to pry the lock of hair away from him, only this time Hoshi tucked back. Chikara flinched, biting her lip as Hoshi threatened to yank her hair out by it’s roots. “Ow!-” she squeaked, trying and failing again to get Hoshi’s grabby little hands to release her

Higari watched, only slightly amused at her suffering with his head in his hand

After two minutes of failing, Chikara inhaled “...Can you uh..give me a hand?” she asked shyly, sounding ashamed. 

Easily, Higari reached over and lightly tapped the end of his finger on Hoshi’s nose. The tiny tots eyes went cross eyed, utterly perplexed, with his attention diverted Higari swiftly pulled the lock of hair from his mouth, Chikara was quick to brush it over her shoulder out of Hoshi’s reach 

“...Thanks” 

“No problem” Higari said paired with a shrug

A rare moment of silence passed over them, the only noise being the distant ticking off the clock from the hallway. “Here, lemme hold him for a bit” Higari said, holding his arms out towards Hoshi. Chikara glanced down to him and then Higari, before handing him over

With her arms free Chikara sighed and flopped her head forward, dragging her hands through her hair

“..You know I wasn’t gonna say any of those things” Higari said, letting Hoshi chew on the end of his finger. Chikara peered at him through the corner of her eye “What were you gonna say then?..” she asked, only sounding mildly sarcastic

“I was just gonna say you should take a shower, you’re startin’ to smell” Higari said, honest as always 

Chikara instantly snapped her head up to him with a glare that could crack rock. Higari snickered “Oh you fu-”

“Ah ah ah” Higari mockingly waved his finger and then gestured to Hoshi “We have a child present”

Chikara looked between the two, looking to be struggling to think of a curt reply. Higari’s smug grin widened in the face of her defeat, more so when Hoshi innocently gurgled something incoherent and waved a hand towards Chikara. 

“..You did that on purpose” Chikara narrowed her eyes, managing to swallow her urge to argue back. At her funny expression Hoshi giggled, Chikara blinked down at him “Don’t take HIS side!” Chikara said while throwing a hand out to Higari 

Chikara let out a long, loud groan, burying her face in her hands “Did you come here to comfort me or annoy me?” 

“Both” Higari replied rather quickly “..But mostly to comfort” his smug look turned soft and caring, something that only a select few close to him got to see. Through the gaps in her fingers Chikara looked at him “You really don’t have to do all this by yourself you know..” Higari started “Me and Ecto are just down the hall”

“And keep you away from sleep too?” At that very moment, Chikara let yawn “I can’t do that..plus you guys have jobs, you’re teachers”

“That’s true” a pause “..But I’m also your brother”

Chikara lowered her hands from her face to give Higari a raised brow “You gonna go all mushy on me now?” 

“Chikara”

...Chikara sighed “Sorry...sorry” she shook her head, rubbing shyly at her neck “I’m just...” she hesitated, searching for the right words “I’m not good at this..” she finished “Not good like Ken or you and Ecto!” she sighed again “He’s nearly one and I still can’t get him down for a nap!”

“Chikara you’re brand new at this” Higari stated the obvious “Of course you’re still gonna be figurin’ things out”

“You got it so easily though!” Chikara turned towards Higari and gestured to Hoshi, whom in the past five minutes of Higari holding him had already seemed to calm down “How did you learn all of this??”

Higari looked off at the opposite wall to collect his thoughts “...Well-” he shrugged “I just..learnt”

Chikara gave him a look, showing how much she believed him “I’m serious!” Higari defended, sensing Chikara’s distaste over how simply he had put it. “Sure I was old enough to help Mum and Dad with you and Taiho when you were little, but with your own kids it’s..” Higari made a rolling gesture with his wrist “..Different”

“Different how?” Chikara asked with an eyeroll, still not believing him. Before speaking Higari took in Chikara’s appearance: her hair was matted and greasy from the obvious lack of showering, the shirt she was wearing was wrinkled and had a small stain by the collar, and the joggers she was wearing he had seen her wear two days prior. “Because each kid is different”

Before Chikara could give him a sarcastic reply, Higari held up his hand “Let me finish” he said sternly. Chikara narrowed her eyes before sighing, gesturing for him to continue “..Each kid is different. Taiho when he was little liked to go splashin’ in puddles, you liked to go jumpin’ in the mud” 

“..What does puddles and mud have to do with-”

“Work with me here” Higari interrupted her “What I’m sayin’ is that you can have all the experience in the world caring for kids, but there’s no book or step by step guide that prepares you for real parenting!” Higari shrugged “So Cementoss is better at putin’ Hoshi to bed, so what? You're the one that’s better at gettin’ him to eat his food”

Chikara averted her gaze, seeming far more interested in the floor. “It’s just...” Chikara’s hands rested on her knees, nails picking at the fabric “I need to be able to do this by myself..” Chikara’s fingers gripped at her joggers, still not meeting Higari’s gaze, which she could tell was on her. “Sure Ken went away for just the weekend, but what if he’s gone for longer?? What if he’s called for some hero mission or somethin’?? W-What if you’re called for the same mission and you’re both gone!” Chikara’s shoulders tensed, her eyes shiny as her voice began to waver “I need to be able to do this by myself! I can’t just just rely on you or Ken being there all the time for me! I-If I can’t learn how to do this by myself then- then-”

Higari’s hand on her shoulder made her stop “Hey”

...Chikara sighed, rubbing tiredly at her face, eyes closed yet clearly watery with how she tried to discreetly wipe them without Higari noticing “Calm down and take a breath..” Higari reassured, hand now rubbing Chikara’s back as she did so, inhaling and exhaling through her nose “...Sorry...” she murmured barely above a whisper

“For what? Worrying?” Higari tilted his head “You know it’s normal for people to do that right?” he asked, trying to crack some humour. When Chikara didn’t laugh, Higari turned serious again “..Look Chi, I know how stressful parenting is - it ain’t easy for anybody! So you ain’t got all the tricks figure out yet, big deal”

“It IS a big deal-”

“-But that's why you learn” Higari finished, not leaving Chikara room to argue “The way I see it: you’ve been busting your ass this weekend to take care of your kid by yourself for pretty much the first time since he was born. The kid got funny with you when you tried to put him down for a nap, what baby hasn’t done that?? Even Riley’s been funny with naptime once or twice.”

Finally, Chikara looked up to Higari, eyes half lidded and glossy from tired tears “Stop beating yourself up over this, for what it’s worth I think you’re doing a great job with this whole parenting thing! Hoshi’s like a lil koala bear with you - if that doesn’t prove you’re doing a good job I don’t know what will”

Chikara and Higari sat in silence, Chikara processing her brother's advice, Higari giving her the silence she needed to calm down. Chikara sniffled, rubbing her nose on her sleeve and turning away slightly from Higari to collect herself, she felt silly crying. She’d always been so sure in what she was doing or had done, this was all so new to her, it was..scary 

She swallowed “Higari-”

“Shhh” Higari pressed his finger on Chikara’s lips “He’s asleep”

Chikara looked down to Hoshi, who had lost the battle against sleep. He was happily curled in a perfect ball, hands tucked to his face and twitching every so often as he dreamed

Chikara sighed “Lil stubborn bugger..” 

“I can see where he gets it from” Higari said, his trademark grin pulling at his face “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree it seems” 

“Har har” 

Carefully Higari gently handed Hoshi back to Chikara, he hardly stirred thank goodness. Chikara stood and walked towards his crib, slowly lowering him down and tucking the blanket lightly over him - only then did Chikara sigh and wipe at her forehead “Finally..” 

“Bet you’re glad he’s asleep huh?” Higari quietly slid off the bed as Chikara turned round “Now I think it’s time YOU get some rest” he said, jabbing a finger to Chikara and then to the bed. Chikara loved her sleep enough as it was, so when she was at last given the chance to rest she didn’t need to be told twice

Walking the small space between the crib and the bed felt like a chore as her feet dragged along the carpeted floor. With a dramatic flop she fell face first sideways onto the bed, her body instantly curling up into the comfort of the blankets. Higari rose his brow and held back the urge to laugh “Don’t you wanna get under the covers?” he asked

“This is fine..” Chikara mumbled, sounding in pure bliss as she snuggled more into the blankets 

“You’ll probably be warmer and comfier if you slept the right way ya know...”

“Mhm, interestin’...” Chikara drawled, her eyelids heavy as her breathing slowed, her blinks drowsy as she was pulled closer and closer to sleep. Higari didn’t move until her eyelids closed and he was certain she was asleep.

“Idiot” he chuckled, tip-toeing to the bedside lamp and carefully switching it off, Chikara’s soft snores already reaching his ears. Vaguely, if Higari listened closely, he could hear her muttering nonsense in her sleep

“Mngh...rice...needs rice...” Obviously she was dreaming about food

“Snrck-” Higari covered his mouth and quickly glanced to the baby crib, Hoshi had moved a little but didn't seem to be awake. Chikara would have his head if he dared to wake him now. 

Soundlessly Higari left the room, carefully pulling the door up on his way out. He’d spare Chikara the teasing this time around, she needed a good rest after all

//BONUS//

Cementoss heaved a sigh as he closed the door to his apartment, that mission had been more tiring then he thought it would be. All well, at least he was home now. He naturally felt himself smile as he walked further into the home, happy to be somewhere familiar

Upon walking in further however he noticed how it was oddly quiet, usually Chikara would hear the door close and come to investigate who it was, that or Hoshi would start gurgling and cooing.

He rose a brow “Chikara?” no answer, he hummed again. Perhaps she was sleeping? Chikara was quite a heavy sleeper 

Making his way to the bedroom it was obvious that Chikara was clearly sleeping, evident in the snoring he heard as he got closer and closer to the door. Peeking his head inside, while being cautious to not startle her awake, Cementoss stepped in- and then blinked

“...Higari, what are you doing?”

Higari eyed the black market he was using the scrawl over Chikara’s face and then Cementoss “...Nothing”

Cementoss hummed. He slowly looked over towards the baby crib, noting how it was emtpy “..Where is Hoshi?”

“With Ecto and Riley..”

“Ah..”

Silence

“...I don’t think she’s going to be very pleased with you” Cementoss said, looking down to his still sleeping wife, who’s forehead and cheeks had been vandalized with the market Higari held. Higari looked between the marker and his sisters face “Probably not...”

Higari leaned back up and pulled the marker away “Which is why-” he clicked the lid back atop his pen and made to slide off the bed to flee the scene of the crime “-I shall leave you to greet her when she wakes up. Animals are less likely to kill their mates god speed”

Cementoss narrowed his eyes, mouth opening and closing “...Did you just compare Chikara to an animal-”

“Mngh..” Chikara groggily sat up and yawned, like a bear waking from winter. She sat up, stretching her arms up high above her head and cracking her back. Higari froze, having no time to run or even think of hiding when Chikara lazily turned her head in their direction 

“Hm?..Oh- OH! Ken! Welcome back! How long have you been here?”

“I just...got back” Cementoss said, eyes occasionally flicking down to Higari in worry 

“...Why are you glancing like that- What? Higari what are you doin’ here?”

“Uuuhhhh….” Higari tried and failed to think of a believing excuse

Chikara, still confused on what was going on, and not getting answers from either of them, started to glance around the room in search for a clue on what could be wrong - and that was when she happened to glance into the bathroom and into the mirror above the sink. She blinked...unhurriedly, she glanced down to her brother, who was holding the crime weapon in hand.

Higari noticed her looking and quickly pocketed the pen away 

Chikara inhaled….then smiled calmly “Cementoss, is Hoshi here?”

Cementoss was surprised at how calm she was handling this, to the point it made him more concerned “Uhm- n-no” he answered “Higari said he’s with Ectoplasm adn Riley”

Chikara nodded “Ah, okay then! Can you do a favour hun? Can you take maybe uh” Chikara hummed “Three steps to the left?“ 

When Chikara only continued to smile Cementoss slowly raised a brow “Oh..kay?” he said awkwardly, taking three steps to the left as he was asked. Doorway now free Higari turned to Chikara and then the hallway “...Welp!” He smacked his hands together, Chikara’s smile making him feel unnerved “Nice to see you’re feelin’ better Chi!” Higari turned on his heel and began to hurriedly march out the room, perhaps if he was lucky Chikara wouldn’t notice him leaving when she went to greet Cementoss “Ill see you late-EEARGH!”

That was until Chikara tackled him

Magakure used to sing little lullabies to her kids when they where little, and when Chikara became a mum she ended up embracing a lot of typical motherly behaviours. As a teenager she never really embraced any girly things, so becoming a mum helped her open up on her more feminine caring side

Also their kiddo is named Hoshi (roughly translates to star in Japanese). Unlike his older cousin Riley Hoshi was and still is a very calm and quite kid, he’s pretty shy too, which leads to Chikara being especially soft with him. She sings him lullabies often, the first time she discovered Cementoss listening in on her signing she probably yelped in surprise and then was embarrassed for the next hour

Maybe every now and then she’ll sing a tune infront of him

Chiktoss nosense

Another random post, work is really draining since I’m still getting used to the routine of getting up early and working for seven hours, so have another post thing with Cementoss x Chikara. Mostly some headcannons I may do doodles for in the future 

Some Headcannons:

-All the Maijima children have a bad habit of expanding like a starfish in bed, effectively smothering their lovers in the morning when they wake up to find them sprawled ot over the bed at an odd angel. Chikara is no exception to this. More often then not Cementoss wakes up with Chikara either half laying ontop of him, half falling out of the bed, or upside down with her feet by her pillow. 

-Cementoss has a pet tortoise, I don;t take criticism. Cementoss cannonly likes round things, so him having a lil pet tortise?? I think it just fits him so well!

Chikara and her sibs have always had family dogs through out their lives, so she was a little surprised at a pet tortoise. Chikara doesn’t see why Cementoss is so fond of this slow tiny thing but she doesn’t question it, one day Chikara is stuck to pet sit while Cementoss is busy preparing the UA gyms for training the next day. She also doesn’t understand why she needs to pet sit a tortoise, it’s not like it could escape with how slow it moved - but again, does so for Cementoss’s sake.

Chikara is sitting on the sofa with Cementoss’s tortoise next to her, she’s talking to it like it’s an actual person (Chikara talks to the family dog back at her home in the country so she kinda talks with every pet). Then the little tortoise slowly emerges from it’s shell to slowly and gently bonk it’s head on the end of Chikara’s finger

Chikara has since been attached to Cementoss’s tortoise companion. She fondly calls him tank for laughs

-One time during the summer Higari and some other friends from UA went off to the beach to relax, a rarity. Chikara tagged along only with the promise of ice cream, she’s a food driven person. She was not excited when everyone started jumping into the sea for a swim. Chikara is terrifed of swimming, she’s swam in small lakes and ponds before back in the country, but never the actual sea before, the whole thought of it scares her. Cementoss is chilling in the shallows when he notices Chikara still huddled up on the beach. 

He asks her if she’s going to join, to which Chikara tries and fails miserably to cover up her nervousness of swimming - Cementoss was able to piece two and two together pretty quickly and in the end manages to convince Chikara to try and come into the water. Chikara is VERY scared, it’s obvious with how she’s clinging to his arm even though they’re not even knee deep in water. Cementoss gently encourages her, and Chikara seems to just be relaxing...before a tiny wave spalshed just above her knee and she jumped into Cementoss’s arms, sending the two both toppling over with a splash

Chikara and Cementoss couldn’t make eye contact for a week

-Chikara as a kid wasn’t very girly in fear she’d be teased by her older brothers, so when she does finally realzing the fluttery feeling in her chest is cuz she loves Cementoss she’s..very lost on what to do. All the girly behaviour she’d surpressed as a kid bubbled back up and she essentially felt like a school girl experiencing her first crush.

She thought maybe ignoring the feeling would make it go away, nope. In defeat, embaressed, and still very much confused, she turned to Higari to shyly ask for advice on the whole love and romance thing. Higari, though a little teasing at first cuz his dear baby sister had a wittle crush, he did offer some pretty solid advice and was able to help clear up most of Chikara’s confusion. Chikara also asked for advice from Suru, who already had a boyfriend (Suru’s got a bf, ain’t drawn him out yet but hope too soon when I’ve thought of some other family friends for Higari) and offered similar advice.  Chikara eventually gutted up the courage to ask Cementoss to coffee (she didn’t have the guts to call it a date-) over an email, she may have squealed into a cushion when Cementoss replied with a yes

-With Cementoss not really having lips and Chikara being short the two can’t really kiss. Chikara compromises by kissing his knuckles, but Cementoss sometimes feels a little guilty for not being able to return the affection. Chikara tells him she’s perfectly fine with cuddling him (Cementoss can give surprisingly good cuddles for someone who looks like a brick), but it still bothers him. Cementoss now has his own way of giving Chikara kisses, it’s the same way Ecto gives Higari ‘kisses’ despite not having lips. Cementoss instead leans his head down to gently place the area of his lips on Chikara’s forehead.

He first did this when the two where having a lazy evening in: Cementoss was tired from teaching so Chikara threw together some food for them to eat together infront of the TV. It’s halfway through the movie, the two are chilling under a blanket, and Cementoss is wondering when he should make his move. He stands up, saying he’s going to make himself another drink. Chikara goes with him, making herself another hot chocolate - Cementoss senses an oppertunity. While Chikara waits for the water to boil, he lightly taps her shoulder to gain her attention, and then when she turns he gives her one of his ‘kisses’

Chikara at first doesn’t understand what Cementoss just did, nor does she understand why her face feels hot. She gets VERY flustered, not really used to tender sweet stuff like that, Cementoss is worried he might have messed up but Chikara just stares at him wide eyed, red faced, and then asks for another kiss-
