In Search of Supernatural Fans from the Early Years

Hi! I’m looking for the legends who originally recorded old Supernatural convention panels featuring Jared or Jensen, or possibly Misha. See "What I'm Looking For" below. If you know one of them, or if you're a member of a community with people who were in the fandom in those early years, I’d greatly appreciate it if you could let them know about this post. I can be reached at DetailTilted@gmail.com or here on Tumblr.

If you aren’t familiar with my project, see the “Project Background” section below. This is not a low-effort exercise to merely repackage old videos. I’m putting many hours of work into each video to improve their watchability and accessibility. I will always credit my sources unless you wish to remain anonymous.

Even if your videos are on YouTube, I’m likely to have more success upscaling them if I can get the original video files. Thanks to the videos AgtSpooky kindly sent me, I've learned how big of a difference it can make when I have the original files to work with. That's why I’m putting more effort into finding those elusive original video takers.

The problem is that they all seem to have fallen off the face of the earth. Most of their YouTube accounts, LiveJournal accounts, and whatever other accounts I’ve dug up haven’t had any activity in 10-15 years. I’ve left a few messages on some of them, but I doubt they’ll be seen on dormant accounts. I’ve also gone down some crazy and twisted Googling paths trying to find current contact info for them, but without much success. In one case I even messaged the wrong person, who was at least kind enough to reply to the psycho asking for videos to let me know she wasn't the person I'd hoped she was. Oops!

What I’m Looking For

I’ve already finished CHICON 2007, Comic-Con 2008, and CHICON 2008, so I don’t need videos from those events, but I’d be happy to try to upscale your videos for your own collection if you have some you'd like to send me.

Actually, I could use CHICON 2008 Breakfast videos if you have any. I plan to attempt to redo that video either late this year or early next year.

I’ve been trying especially hard to reach people with original video files from either LA 2009 or Asylum 3 (2009), and I’d also be ecstatic to get some from LA 2008.

Any other old con videos you’re willing to share that have Jared or Jensen in them would be awesome. I hope to get to all the old conventions eventually. I haven’t yet defined “old”, so I don’t have a specific cutoff point.

Even if you just have audio files without video, those could be helpful too.

Length doesn't matter. Both long and short videos are welcome. Maybe I won't end up using them all, but the more options I have the better. Even if I don't put your video in my final edit, it would still be used because I always listen to every single video I can find when I'm finalizing my subtitles. Each video sounds at least a little different, and sometimes just hearing the audio in a slightly different way lets me catch a subtitle I'd missed or misheard.

Also, just to be clear, it isn’t necessarily my intent to exclude Misha. I’ve watched and enjoyed many of his convention videos and I liked Castiel for the most part, especially in the earlier seasons. I’m just not obsessed with Misha like I am with Jared and Jensen, and these videos do take quite a lot of work, so I’ve been putting my energy where my greatest interests lie. I’ll absolutely be including him when he’s in panels with Jared and/or Jensen, and in the future I may consider doing some of his solo panels.

So if you have original video files of Misha's solo panels that you’d like to send me, I’d be happy to add them to my stockpile for future possible use. If your videos turn out to be mostly complete, and if they upscale easily, then I might go ahead and do his panel at the same time I do the other panels from the same convention. If they'll take more effort to work with, I’ll probably skip them for now, but I may come back and tackle them if/when I run out of old Jared and Jensen videos to work with.

For any con videos you send me, regardless of whether I use them or not, I’d be happy to try to upscale them and send them back to you for your collection. I can’t always get things to upscale, so I can’t promise success, but I’ll definitely try.

Project Background - Enhanced Edition Con Videos

You can find my videos on my YouTube channel. (If you're already familiar with my project, skip to the next section -- there's nothing new to see here.)

I started this project in December 2023 to enhance old convention videos. My goal is to make them easier on the eyes and more accessible to both new and old fans from around the world. The videos on YouTube from that time can be difficult both to watch and to understand due to a combination of the older technology used to record them, the difficult recording conditions the fans were working with, and the lack of subtitles that make any sense.

I’m enhancing the videos as follows:

Visual Improvements: I’m upscaling the videos if possible, making color corrections if needed, and adding some slight stabilization to reduce the jitteriness. The end result is far from perfect because there’s only so much that current technology can do, but it's noticeably improved if you compare it to the originals.

Subtitles: I’m adding good, color-coded, English subtitles that can be turned on or off through YouTube’s CC button. The color-coding makes it more clear who's saying what when multiple people are speaking, and YouTube can auto-translate them into other languages to improve the accessibility.

Multiple Sources: If one video has gaps in it, then I'll try to find another that I can edit in to fill those gaps so the end result is as complete as possible. If I have more than one source that captured the same portion of the event, then I'll cut to whichever video I think had the best view of the action. In a few cases I’ve added a split screen with two different videos showing simultaneously so we can see action that's taking place in two separate areas. For example, when Jared and Jensen are on opposite sides of the stage. (There were also the infernal talking head bubbles on my Comic-Con 2008 video which nearly made me throw in the towel, but taught me a lot. 😅)

Extra Content for Context: These older videos don’t take up the full width of a modern video frame, so I’ve taken advantage of the extra space to display some still images with text to add extra context for many of the things they discuss. Some things are a lot funnier, or at least a lot more relevant, when you know exactly what they’re talking about. I clarify Supernatural episode references and pop culture references among other things. Sometimes I’ve also inserted short video clips, usually just a few seconds’ worth, if I thought it would add worthwhile clarity or entertainment to the topic at hand.

Current Project Status

If anyone has been wondering how I’m doing on my current video and what’s next… I’m almost done with the last video from CHICON 2008, which was Jensen’s solo panel. I should be ready to publish it on YouTube this Friday, May 24. I plan to use the same schedule as last time and put the Tumblr post up the following Tuesday when it’s a little more likely to be noticed here.

The next sequential conventions are LA 2009 and Asylum 2009, but I haven’t had much success in my attempts to upscale the available videos. If I were to work with what I have now, I know I could turn out something better than what’s on YouTube today, but the end result wouldn’t be nearly as good as what I might be able to achieve if I can get some original videos to work with. So I think it’s more logical to skip over these conventions for now and give it some time to see if I get any responses, in hope of a better end result.

I do intend to come back to the skipped conventions eventually, even if nobody sends me anything. Once I run out of conventions for which I can upscale the videos, if I still don't have anything better to work with for the ones I skipped, I’ll just do the best I can with what’s available. Even if I can't upscale, I can still do color corrections and stabilization, plus the subtitles and extra content. Some of these panels are split up into a bunch of very short videos, so it would also add value if I can combine them into something more sequential and cohesive. (I found 130 videos from the Jared and/or Jensen panels at LA 2009, and most of them were under 2 minutes long. 🤣) I don’t know if there’s enough footage to cover the entire panels seamlessly, but I’m itching to get my hands on that jigsaw puzzle of videos to try to make sense out of them.

So… the next videos I intend to work on will be from Vancouver 2009. This is one of the conventions that AgtSpooky attended and sent me videos for and they upscaled very well. Her breakfast video had already found its way onto YouTube, but wasn't properly credited. Her main panel videos aren't on YouTube as far as I could find, so that version may be new to newer fans. I'm only just starting to play around with upscaling the other sources out there, but my first attempt at the other main Breakfast source came out well. Both breakfast videos were taken from extreme opposite angles, so that should provide some useful editing opportunities. I’d still love to get more videos of this event if anyone has them.

You know, as a Dean girl I do sometimes get annoyed when Sam girls imply there is nothing interesting about Dean beyond his relationship to Sam. Sure I personally think it's rather condescending and myopic, but it's at least an opinion clearly related to the actual show - Dean's life is inextricably tied to Sam, pilot to finale.

Conversely, that poll about whether or not you'd watch an SPN revival without Castiel is the second time today I've run across stans implying the same shit about Dean only being worthwhile as an accessory to their fave ... but in regards to Castiel. Marvel with me at the baffling stupidity of assertions like "a real deangirl wouldn't do SHIT without cas just like dean himself" - as if that was actually true of canon Dean, literally ever. Like, I can't see how you'd believe that even just watching episodes with Castiel in them it's so obviously untrue! Or "you cannot be a Dean fan without feeling compelled to defend Cas from his enemies" - not like Castiel repeatedly fucked Dean over in ways a Dean fan might be bothered by or anything. Not like they ~*somehow*~ find it very easy to separate Sam from Dean despite how close they are, that's ~*different*~! (Which doesn't even get into the questionably creepy framing of real people who don't like a fictional character as 'enemies'.)

I run across takes I don't agree with about the canon all the time, but that's just what I'd expect of fandom - especially one this big and varied. The extent to which some people have overwritten the actual show with weird obsessed shipper tumblr brainrot batshit in their heads still manages to catch me off guard sometimes, though.

How do tags work? I'm newish to Tumblr and I don't really get the tags. Do I need to tag everything?

hello and welcome! tags serve four major purposes:

to let other people find your content: this is only applicable if you are the creator of the post, not if you reblog it. for example: if you make a post about dean you might want to add the tags "dean winchester" and "supernatural" or even "spn" so that other people who are interested in content about dean can see the post when they're searching for content on tumblr (if you want to find content and you're using desktop, you can search tumblr.com/tagged/supernatural [or whatever it is you're looking for] and you'll be able to see original posts that people tagged as "supernatural." if you're on mobile, frog speed, my friend.) also, friendly reminder not to over-tag things. if you tag a post that is just about dean with "sam winchester" "castiel" "john winchester" etc people are more likely to block you. spam tagging is really annoying.

organization on your own blog: adding tags to your posts lets you find them on your own blog later (again, this is really only useful on desktop, not mobile) and this goes for original posts and reblogged posts. for example: you may have noticed that i tag all of my posts about dean with "dw." that's the organizational tag i use for my own blog. i also have tags that probably don't mean anything to anyone else but that help me to organize certain ~genres of posts on my blog (like "hashtag family"). if you want to search your own blog or someone else's for all of the posts you/they have in a specific tag you can do that on desktop by going to blog.tumblr.com/tagged/tag. so for example if you wanted to search my blog for the dean content you would go to queermania.tumblr.com/tagged/dw

giving other people the ability to block/filter content: this is relevant for both original posts and reblogged posts. for example: someone might have followed you for doctor who content but they are not interested in seeing supernatural content. you tagging your supernatural posts with a "supernatural" tag lets them filter or blacklist it so they don't have to see it. this is also relevant for certain types of content like nsfw, body horror, etc. you may see tags like "tw body horror" or "body horror tw" or "body horror cw" or even "body horror for ts" (that one's an old relic from a time long ago when we had to use an extension called tumblr savior to filter content). content/trigger warnings are subjective. not everybody uses them. not everybody is willing to use them. it's not uncommon to ask people (politely!) to tag for something that might be upsetting to you, with the caveat that they might say no and then it's up to you to decide if you want to continue following them or not. (for example if you asked me to tag for alcohol, i would politely decline, simply because i do not think i would realistically remember to do it and i don't want to promise something i can't deliver and risk harming you.)

commentary that doesn't need to be a part of the post: you may have noticed that a lot of us put our thoughts on any given post in the tags. this is a way to leave commentary without muddying up the post. not all thoughts need to be on the post permanently. in fact, most don't haha. sometimes if you leave commentary in the tags, someone will copy and paste or screenshot them into the body of the post because they think your thoughts deserved permanent status and that other people should see them too. we like to call this getting peer reviewed because we are nothing if not a website full of nerds.

so those are the ways we use tags on this website. you can choose not to use tags at all, use them religiously, or use them only when you want. it's really up to you. you create your own experience. however, if you do opt out of tagging anything at all, people might be less likely to interact with you because it makes it harder for them to curate their own experience. but again, it's really up to you!

Look: I don't know if Jensen Ackles has a queer bone in his body, and it's not my business. He owes us nothing but his work, and he doesn't even properly owe us that. What I do know is that he SEES QUEER PEOPLE, like ALL THE TIME. He is at least queer adjacent, and by that I mean, peaceably and kindly living in a world where queer people are near him a lot. He has queer friends and has played queer roles. He interacts with deep kindness with queer fans. He has done things from a young age that people associate with queerness, like being a cheerleader, a model, and a fucking artist. He is also a VERY pretty man, and has no doubt gotten a lot of attention for it from people of any gender who have eyes and can see. None of that makes him necessarily queer, but at the very least I think it's clear that he is not afraid of queerness. There is A LOT of evidence to say so, and nothing I've ever heard (and I am a massive SPN fan, yo, so I have read ALL ABOUT the things he's said) that seriously makes me think he is a homophobe.

To be serious, the point of my post was that Jensen MADE DESTIEL. He yearned hard onscreen as Dean, and he made it so. He filed Dean's pretty, wet eyes up with love, and looked at Castiel with them, and he knows it. He is not an idiot, and he is a very good actor. He knew what he was doing. He did that shit. I love him for it. I would never neg him! I big up him all the time. He is very good, and seriously underrated, and I wish him a long and happy life and every good thing on earth because he told me (and is telling me) a story I fucking LOVE, and he did it beautifully.

So, like all hail Jensen R. T. C. D. C. M. B. R. C. H. F. P. Ackles! Long may he reign.

Unless the post specifies one in particular, I don't have any more clue than you do. If the submission specifies, I put it in the post. The rendition a picture is from is not intended to indicate a specific source.

What level of specificity is allowed?

You may be as specific or unspecific as you like with your character submission. Both "Link from The Legend of Zelda series" and "Castiel from Supernatural, specifically in S05E08 'Changing Channels'" would be allowed. That being said, I reserve the right to not publish excessive variations of the same character (e.g. if you submit Castiel separately for every episode of supernatural, I will not be posting all of those).

What do you mean by "assemble it well"?

You may interpret this however you like, but I would define it as getting furniture assembled such that it stays together, and deviations from the instructions are either intended or insignificant. I would not count mental distress as not going well (for the purpose of answering this question), with the exception of cases where the mental distress leads to it being disassembled, unfinished, or otherwise destroyed.

Will my username be publicized?

For submissions, no. For other asks, probably. Anon is on if you wish to use it.

What is the ideal format for submissions?

Submit through asks. The exact formatting doesn't matter much, but the format of "[character] from [media]" including proper capitalization (e.g. Link from Legend of Zelda), with additional content on other lines is slightly easier to copy-paste.

Should I submit multiple characters as separate asks?

Up to 3 characters in one ask is fine. More than that, please split the asks. If you want to submit each as a separate ask, that's equally fine. If submitting multiple characters from the same media, it's fine to either list them and say "all from [media]" or list them all as "[character] from [media]".

How are the pictures used obtained?

Generally from fan wikis, or wikipedia. If a picture is submitted with the ask, I will use that, and tag the post #image from submitter

Why is this picture of the wrong character/why was an inapplicable tag used?

Due this being a submission-based blog, I am not personally familiar with all characters on here. If something is improperly tagged, the image is of the wrong character, etc, notify me (through asks, messages, or by tagging me) if you want me to fix it.

What's the policy on re-polls?

This is one of the questions no one has ever once asked! As such, I do not have a policy on re-polls for polls that don't have a significant error. If a poll has a significant error(something that disrupts its ability to be answered, such as polls that only run for a day rather than a week, or don't have the answers set up correctly), notify me (through asks, messages, or by tagging me) and I'll put out a corrected version as soon as I can.

When I have angst, I like to have it with a happy ending, but I would probably say this fliclette I wrote based on the prompt: "Can you do a Jasercy fic where Jason is trying to comprehend the fact that Percy's gone, preferably death, but it doesn't have to be."

Aside from one HP/Sherlock fic that was co-written with my bestie and that we both abandoned, I don't really do long form crossovers (and that one wasn't crazy anyway). That said, there was a tumblr prompt game years ago, that was for 3 sentence fics and almost every prompt I got was a crazy crossover:

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yes, the aforementioned abandoned HP/Sherlock fic, but it's been ages. @punchedbymarkesmith and I have kicked around some collab ideas, which I think would both be a blast and also for a potentially niche audience. Maybe 2024 is the year this happens!

All time favourite ship?

Steter is the one I've stuck with the longest, but I do have a few that I will always return to in the same way you might eat a comfort meal.

What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Look, I really, really want to finish It's Only Forever. I have like 1, maybe 2 chapters left. But it's been so long and I feel like my writing has changed, and idk. Every year I say I'm going to work on it, and every year I don't... le sigh.

What are your writing strengths?

I think I'm really good at finding a small moment in canon and then diverging from that. I also think I'm good at authentic dialogue and I think I'm pretty good at world building.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Action/fighting. Keeping things short unless it's a drabble/other restrictive format.

Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

I am not fluent enough in any language other than English to do this confidently. Instead, I would write something like:

Stiles cursed at them wildly in Polish.

or

Peter responded in French, then turned back to Stiles and resumed their conversation in English.

First fandom you wrote in?

Gundam Wing. All of my old fic from *cough* 20+ years ago is lost to the annals of time (actually some is still on archived GW 1x2 sites if you look hard enough). And if you are one of like 7 people who remember my username, you can find my Newsies and Harry Potter fic (my next two fandoms) still on ffn. After I got out of a bad relationship that kept me from my own interests, including fandom, I returned with BBC Sherlock fic, which you can still find on AO3 if you scroll to the beginning of my profile.

Favorite fic you've written?

Gosh, I feel like this changes all the time, but I am particularly proud of At This Truth We Have Arrived. I loved exploring certain aspects of Peter's character, and doing a different take on Nogistune Stiles. I was also able to incorporate a lot of different themes and elements into it, as well as get my own closure with Monroe, something that has bugged me since the finale. Plus, I think I was able to accomplish a reveal that would add extra elements if anyone went back and re-read the story (even if I somewhat show my hand if anyone paid attention to the epigraph).

I think a story where Jack brings back att the angels and most demons, and Empty let's them go cause they want to sleep, but takes Castiel's memories because they are still angry at Jack and Cas would be amazing.

Like Cas has memories somewhere before pulling Dean out of hell but everyone else around him remembers all that happened.

I wrote a really long ost about this fic idea byt tumblr ate it, so I am going to try again, I am sorry if I miss any details this time around.

There is an old post, about Naomi and Cas, I don't I will be able to find, but one person in the tags said, (paraphrasing) 'It would be intresting and kind of hillarious if only Castiel was mindwiped after his rebellions or disobidience and others rememberd.'

Cas loosing his memories after his lastest visit of the Empty would be as you said very messy.

Imagin, Jack goes to empty, after getting Chuck's powers, and Cas is not happy with the situtation but he also know they don't have much time, the Shadow is angry about everything. So Castiel helps Jack make a deal with the Shadow, to get most of the angels and hamdfull of Demons, who would actually help rather than messing them up evern more (Like Crowely, Rowena, Meg, etc), they deal with the rest and seasl the void so that the shadow is never disturbed again.

But before the leave, The Shadow takes Castiel's memories, or something happens, but Castiel does forget everything that happened.

So, as he comes back the last thing he remembers is planning a seige to hell, to pull out Dean.

And everything is a mess, right?

Hell is cahos, Deamons don't know who to obey, Rowena and Crowely are at eachothers throats.

Heaven is worse, Angels are hostile towards Jack, he is Lucifer's nephilim, raised by the Winchesters, he took Godhood from their father. They don't know if they want should trust him. Even Cas himself.

It doesn't long for everyone to realise something is very wrong with Cas, either. Like Cas then thought Balthzar is dead, and now when Cas doesn't remember, Batlh who is still angry doesn't know how to tell his brother, who is so happy to see him, he was the one to kill Balth. Similar interactions goes for Anna, for Samandrieal, for Racheal, and others.

Like all the angels are angry at Cas, but blowing up gets only confussion from him. And like he doesn't want to belive what they are telling him, because its too much and its disarterous for him.

Jack comes to realise, he doesnt know shit about Castiel or the angels or heaven and hell. He has no idea what to do and how to help

Like Cas is the one being who could have conneted all the frayed edges of Heaven and Hell, but he can't do that.

Its immposible to write this concept in way that would do justice to everyone, but it has a lot that can be explored

Wow, that really is a spectacular mess, isn't it? (in a good way) It is super interesting, but I can't even get started on how one would try to resolve it to satisfaction.

So then I started to blow it up even more:

In Hell, not only Rowena and Crowley would have unresolved issues, but Meg and Crowley too. And Crowley surely had issues with all the remaining demons, who first of all chose Lucifer over him, then also became loyal to his abusive mother while they were never truly loyal to him. I have no choice but to conclude that he would become an outcast of Hell in this situation (unlike almost everybody except one, I don't buy "redemption" of Rowena for suddenly become a loving mother after Crowley died).

Now onto Cas. I really hope that when Cas was in the Empty making the deal with Shadow he didn't let Naomi out, or the archangels. Because that would make Heaven as fucked up as before.

But do the angels who get out remember all of that past oppression? Do they, now free of Chuck's (the show's) narrative and Naomi's mind control, begin to think for themselves? Do they put the blame in the right places, and not just make Castiel the scapegoat of their enormous misfortune like the show made them do?

Assuming (probably too optimistically, but I can't bear the alternative) that this is the case, Castiel would still be under so much distress, as you described, hearing all the horrors, not wanting to believe, not remembering any of it, yet couldn't not believe.

Then I really don't want him to recover his memory; because it would just be so devastating, especially, also, if he remembered Jack, and realized that his son had learned about all of his "crimes", and understandably became disturbed, if not traumatized by that knowledge.

Whew, knives in the heart at every turn in this story, isn't it?

So then I can only come to one conclusion. Castiel, heartbroken, not knowing who he was anymore, banishes himself from heaven, meeting Crowley who was on the run as an outcast from Hell. Castiel may initially distrust a demon, but he thought himself in no position to judge anyone anymore; while Crowley remembered his fondness for his old friend, and welcomed the clean-slate they were given. Castiel and Crowley found the only source of solace in each other in this new world that was no longer theirs.

What happened to Jack through all this? I have no idea LOL.

i got distracted and wrote a drabble about cas and jimmy in the tumblr post draft instead of a google doc like a normal person. i did not beta this or anything this is my unfiltered thought train

At first, Castiel doesn't quite get it. He watches the man before him beg and plead, bleeding out and fighting for just another breath, so he can demand Castiel take him back. In the moment, Castiel doesn't quite care. These are all means to an end. It doesn't matter the vessel he fights these wars in, as long as he can fight. As his hands clasp Jimmy's face, he wonders if this might be the byproduct of human self preservation. Jimmy would rather be a vessel than die here, die now. Humans always did have a bizarre obsession with immortality.

When years pass, when Castiel is of clear mind, no longer puppeteered by Heaven, he believes Jimmy to be a noble man. It never was about himself, but about protecting someone else. Jimmy had seen being a vessel as something so cruel, so awful, and didn't wish it on anyone else. It was the only kind option, to have Castiel take him over anyone else.

When he reunites with Claire, he thinks he's glad he didn't take her as a vessel. She's still so young, has barely gotten to experience life. Her life may have been tragic, but it was still a life. He never wants to have to take her as a vessel.

The selfish part of him prefers this empty vessel over one with a soul.

The years speed by, and now Cas is in Heaven. Jack is dead. His son is dead. Cas's child is dead. And he can't leave it be. Knows he should, let the natural order do it's job, but there's no other option. He can't leave Jack behind. He's face to face with that awful thing, the entity so devoid of anything that it sets Cas on edge. There's no true face for him to parse, just... nothing. Dressed in Dumah's vessel so Cas at least has something to look at. It's in a heartbeat that Cas offers his life to the Empty. He would offer more of himself if he had more to offer, but all Cas has of minute worth is his life. He needs to bring Jack back, so help him.

It's in those final moments of consciousness that Cas thinks of Jimmy. A lot passes through his mind in this moment. This is it, and now his mind demands he recount all he can just one last time. This is the last time he'll ever get to live, to exist. And so, as these memories and feelings pass by him, he remembers Jimmy. Taking Jimmy's head in his hands. Jimmy's pleading eyes. And Cas. Cas understands now. Understands Jimmy's plight. His final decision. And Cas- Cas hopes he was half as good of a father as Jimmy had been.

You know, I naively assumed that within a couple of years, the D/C wackadoo conspiracy train would surely have to eventually run out of willing passengers. Except guess what, this very fucking week they're still willing to throw themselves at the most pathetically transparent possibility of a hint their ship was/is/should have been canon [X].

As pointed out in the linked refutation post, on the one hand? You have Jensen stating clearly over and over again he sees that relationship as familial. You have various shippers who infiltrated the production crew and really wanted it to be a thing point blank stating there was never a scripted reciprocation or an ad-libbed one shot on the day. You have the publicly available script explicitly stating Dean can't reciprocate. You even have Misha, the king of queerbaiting himself, stating there was no secret version where Dean replied. When it comes directly to the dub in question, you have the voice actor for Castiel saying he didn't see the scene as romantic at all even in that "creative liberties" version. You have the one who did Dean's voice attributing the choice of adding a response entirely on their director who decided that his "intense abilities" meant he understood the story better than the people who wrote it.

On the other hand, you have a random tumblr D/C conspiracist who claims to have had a totally really real conversation with the translator who did that dub years after the fact. Who said he literally didn't remember working on that specific script but that he never adds stuff so it must have been in the script he got for it to have happened!

Anyone with at least two half-functional brain cells to rub together should be able to evaluate the evidence versus the "evidence" and see this isn't a smoking gun, it's one of those toy pistols where a flag comes out with BANG! written on it - but it's a broken POS so the flag doesn't even work. Except they want to believe, and that continues to outweigh facts and logic every time. I just don't get what the hell was in the kool-aid that they're still this desperately, embarrassingly credulous over something that was done and dusted nearly three years ago now.
