Listen. I didn’t need my heart. This was precious. 🩵🩵🩵
tempted to ask for one of the dirty prompts but to spite myself, how about 23?
CARYL pls
Hey there nonny, here you go <3
23. vintage
It was the cabin all over again.
Carol felt the tension between them wrap around her spine like a taut string as they walked inside the dilapidated building to camp out for the night. It was the first time they were alone. Really alone. Without people muttering around them in French with questioning glances, and suspicious prying eyes following their every move. Daryl hadn't left her side since they reunited a few days ago – he simply clasped her hand and led her inside without a word to his French companions.
They'd held each other so desperately when she found him - his face was pressed into the crook of her neck, his fingers dug deep welts in her jacket, and his arms clutched her so close that she felt his heaving breaths right down to the tips of her toes.
His warmth lingered on her perpetually as she kept finding ridiculous excuses to touch him. She felt ashamed of her weakness, but losing him for all this time had made her fear worse. So her arms lingered on his sides when he checked her after a fight; she leaned into him as they walked, brushed against his fingers when she handed him his crossbow, or traced his face every time she checked his head wound and watched him stare at her lips longingly.
Even though everything ached at that look.
Her tears blurred her vision when his eyes roamed her face every spare moment they had together. He'd hesitate for a long moment before brushing them with his thumbs, and pressing his forehead to hers until it was time to keep moving again.
But the deep yearning for each other's warmth had evaporated into thin air the moment they were on this path by themselves. Reality kicked in as days passed, and she saw how different he looked here, how at ease he was with the terrain and the people.
It reminded her of the days after the cabin when she didn't know exactly where she fit into his life. As the distance between them grew, and his hesitance to approach her got stronger – an unexpected spark of sadness followed her.
They found a large, empty room in the building for the night. The floors were crusted marble, an old charred fireplace against a wall with a stack of wood that looked untouched for years, and a rusty bronze chandelier covered in cobwebs smashed in the corner. The walls were all crooked chunks of brick and plaster cracked away with time. Two long windows on either side of the fireplace filtered the dying light in the room.
She turned her back to him and removed her gun, coat, and jacket. There was a rustle of fabric behind her as he did the same. She unrolled their bedrolls and sat with her back against the wall as he knelt down and lit a fire. He reached into his pocket to draw a box of matches when a tiny brown wooden box fell out, rolled across the floor, and clattered against her right foot.
Carol lifted it to find a crude etching of a flower on top of it, she turned it in her hand as he stoked the flames. He chewed his lip and looked at the box, then back up at her. His hair was soft gold in the firelight with threads of silver peeking through it.
"What's this?" The box rattled as she turned it upside down.
"Open it." He sat with his back against the wall, a few feet away from her.
The box unscrewed, and sitting inside was a tarnished silver Jasper ring. It looked about a hundred years old, with soft ochre and black spots forming around the knots on the sides, the crevices, and the rim of the dotted silver bubbles around the textured green Jasper stone in the middle.
"A ring?" Carol furrowed her brow.
"It's a Jasper ring." Daryl's voice was soft, taking her back to another time when he'd used it to tell her a story. "Heard a long time ago that Jasper helps give you the courage to face hardships and strengthens bonds between loved ones that are gone."
She traced the knots on either side of the ring. "Celtic knots," Daryl moved closer and tentatively touched one. "That there is a love knot, a sign of love shared between two people."
Their eyes locked for one searing moment, his eyes lingering on her lips, tears glistening on his lashes. His lips were chapped and dry, he swiped them with his tongue before looking down at his hands. Carol turned back to the ring.
The Jasper stone was a gradient of streaked green and bright points of soft yellow patterns, like a constellation etched in stone. Its shine had dulled over the years, it looked like it had weathered quite a few storms. She could feel Daryl's eyes on her as she twirled the ring.
"It's beautiful."
"Yeah."
She turned and saw him gazing at her softly.
"Found it in this antique shop I was camping in one night when I was alone in the early days." He leaned his head back on the wall. "Reminded me of that ring you used to wear back at the Commonwealth – the one you lost after the battle."
"Is that why you kept this ring?" Carol hated how small her voice sounded.
He nodded, "It gave me hope."
She searched his eyes quietly even though she knew he was telling the truth.
"Dunno why but I thought for as long as I held on to it, you wouldn't forget me. Let me go." Daryl's eyes were pleading. "So when I saw you again, I could give it to you."
"I'm never going to forget you, Daryl."
His exhale trembled out of him, and his eyes glistened.
Carol wiped her tears and looked down at the ring. "Why didn't you give it to me?" The words cracked around the edges.
"Didn't think you'd want it anymore."
She looked back at him. His fringe covered his face and his fingers twitched in his lap. Carol held the ring out, Daryl accepted it quietly. She locked eyes with him and held out her hand. His eyes widened briefly, and shone in the moonlight as he searched her face. She smiled at him softly, and he placed the ring on her finger.
Leaning her head on his shoulder, she swayed her hand to catch the moonlight on the yellow specks of the Jasper stone. She turned to look at his watery blue eyes to find him staring at her longingly.
"What do you think?"
Daryl's lips quirked up, "It suits ya," he said without looking away from her.
Carol's smile wilted into the raw longing she'd felt when she thought she would never find him again. She caressed his jaw and she let herself see him – all of him beneath the thin veneer he'd donned to survive in this strange land.
Her resolve cracked and tears spilled anew when Daryl made a tiny whimpering sound in the back of his throat and pressed his forehead against hers. He turned his face into her palm and pressed his lips to it, then pulled her closer so she could rest her head on his chest. A few moments later, his breathing turned into soft snores, and the raw longing she felt escaped through her lips before she could stop it.
"Should've gone to New Mexico..."
The silence that followed made the fire crackle louder. The Jasper stone glinted in its light. Carol fisted her fingers in his shirt, nuzzling into his chest and letting her tears soak into his skin as he slept.
"It's still out there." Daryl's chest rumbled beneath her ear. She looked up.
"Yeah?" Carol's voice trembled.
"Yeah." Daryl's voice was firm.
His thumb grazed her cheek and caught her tears, his hand wrapped over the ring and held onto her hers tightly.
He kissed the crown of her head, and she nuzzled back into his chest and pressed a kiss to his skin. His arms engulfed her until she was surrounded by him. Daryl. His breath tangling in her hair, his heart thrumming in her ear, his skin grazing her lips, his warmth lulling her to sleep, and his ring wrapped around her heart.
Hope was not lost.

Hi there, ive started to watch twd very recently but ive already fallen in love with caryl and its such a pure love that it makes me sad to find out they are still not together in the seasons i have yet to see. But i was wondering if you could rec me some long and sweet fics. Id really appreciate it!
Welcome! :)
I’m partial to AUs lately so my recs will probably reflect that. It’s difficult to pick specific fics because there’s so much good stuff out there (seriously, check out NineLives, it’s a caryl fic paradise), but I gave this a shot and tried to focus on longer stories that really stuck with me. (and nothing too late in the series since you haven’t seen everything yet)I personally love everything written by “lilabut” @singingfirefliess. These are three of my favorites.Apartment Twelve (AU)
http://ninelivesarchive.com/viewstory.php?sid=2757&ageconsent=ok&warning=5
The Storm (AU)http://ninelivesarchive.com/viewstory.php?sid=2546The Hands of Fate (Season 3ish)http://ninelivesarchive.com/viewstory.php?sid=3004For something a little different this is a super fun and cute AU:I Liked You First by @na-bruma-levehttp://ninelivesarchive.com/viewstory.php?sid=2357How Carol Got Her Groove Back by Trodger19 (set between season 2-3)http://ninelivesarchive.com/viewstory.php?sid=2545Days in the Ceder Forest by @sienna27 - pre show through season 1http://www.ninelivesarchive.com/viewstory.php?sid=2163Hopefully this will get you started and if you’re anything like me you’ll just spiral out of control and click everything on Ninelives after that ;)  Happy reading!

Anyways, enjoy guys!
PS: @thaliasandy I heard you like caryl baby fits. Hope you like it
Disclaimer: I’m not popular enough to own these characters!

Okay, so I had a bunch of RL work stuff involving travel and working during the opposite hours of my usual schedule this past week leaving me 0 minutes for writing. I find it nearly impossible to read while I write (it takes me out of my story while I enjoy other people’s). Anyway, all of that for this. There won’t be an update of anything this week, I’m behind on correspondence and reviews, and it won’t be getting any better until Thursday, when I get a day off. (which means it is *possible* that I’ll be posting stuff on Friday!)
Until then, here are some recs. (these are for older stories, because I’ve not read the new stuff yet. See above.)
Crossroads & Lies  by Silversundown – Walking Dead/Supernatural crossover. Author’s Summary: She had been pretending to be one of them for so long that she almost believed it herself. Almost.
If you don’t care for crossovers (and lots of folks don’t), there’s a cute little humorous one shot called:
Pardon The Breasts by Rhinozilla – TWD – 1K – Author’s Summary: Prompt from Tumblr: Caryl share a room. Carol thinks that Daryl is gay so she has no problem changing in front of him. This misconception does not stay misconceived for long.

😍💙😍💙😍
Home is Where the Heart is
Tumblr media
Summary: Daryl realizes where his real home is, and he longs to be there.
Setting: a few days after Caryls departure after s11's ending.
Searching was starting to become the normal with him. Merle, Sophia, Rick. Now, he just isn’t sure what he’s looking for. Yes, he has the idea in mind, find what’s out there. What the rest of the world is, find new people. But he was tired.
Outside was his safe place, the air whipping across his face as he flew down the barren roads atop the roar of his motorcycle. The woods had always been home to him, maybe more so than his actual home in his shitty, fucked up childhood. But, this wasn’t his childhood, and he’d found home in the people he loved.
He’d lost much of that home. Many of the people he had given his all to protect, and couldn’t.
But, even through hell and high water, there stood her. Carol, the woman who had started off nothing but weak and weary and oh so pitiful. He’d watched her change, as did she. Always watching eachother, blue to blue.
Carol, the woman who had stuck to his side like glue. This force of nature who became a vital part of his life. His family, blood or not. She’s seen him at his lowest, his highest. He’s witnessed her grow in more ways than one, witnessed her unravel all the same.
Carol, who he’d left behind at the Commonwealth.
Their goodbye felt too long ago, even though he knew it was only a few days since. Only days, for the first time, since he’d uddered the words, I love you, and she’d echoed them back to him.
So he was tired of searching. Home wasn’t out here anymore. Home was with Carol, and he longed to be home.
Daryl slowed the bike to a stop.
The rumble beneath him decreased to an easy growl. He set his boot down onto the ground and peered over his shoulder, gnarled hair tickling his cheek.
Home was where Carol was, and suddenly he knew what he was searching for.
Daryl rolled the bike around in a u-turn, and set off toward home.

Requested by @murdadixon !!! Thank you for the request, and I hope to hear more of them.💛

Fair warning.....
I'm a total Caryl AU junkie. Always have been. I rarely read ZA Caryl fics. If AUs are also your cup of tea, here are my top two all-time favs that I go back and re-read all the time:
"Don't Kiss" by BettyBubble on Nine Lives
"Wild Heart" by upsgirl88 on FFnet

hi!
soooo, i’m a fluff, non-AU, smutty type of girl (honestly if there ain’t any smut then i’m wondering what i’m even doing there lol). that being said,
A Better Man by 27dayz (FF) - this will LITCHERALLY change your existence. i cannot even form into words how this will cure your pain and suffering and it’s 103 chapters and UNFINSHED 😭
Almost anything by SamiWhammy (NL) - like Taunt, Heat, Tethered, Haircut
there’s more like Subversivegrrl, Rhinozilla, RamblinRose, etc. but i’m at work and this is what came up so far. hopes this helps 🖖🏾

I love this ❤️
You’ve kept everyone in character even though you’re working with quite a different trope; doing “enemies to lovers” and starting with S1 Carol is quite difficult, but I like what you’ve done here. We can see latter season Carol in her but she’s nowhere near the surface. Yet. Merle is both a menacing antagonist and the comic relief, which works so, so well for the tone of your script. I snorted at him wondering if he’d been passed out for about a decade when Merle first saw Daryl return to camp with Carol and Sophia, and the “Daryl, Carol and Sheryl circus act” is the best line 🤗
It’s a great choice to have Carol immediately absolve him when Sophia asks Daryl about all the stuff he has. He'd worry about his supposed lack of honor (and scaring little girls with how uncouth he is) and Carol sees both him and the world for what it is. You’ve used and reworked all the important bits from the quarry, so we’re still getting proper character introductions and you’re not relying on the reader being familiar with the source material. This could stand on its own for someone who’s never seen TWD.
I also like that Sophia didn’t run away and instead hit Daryl with the shotgun at their first meeting. They finally got rid of Ed, she’s still scared but she's not going to let some other man hurt her mom. Sophia was glaring at Daryl after they left the Vatos camp at the start of 201, so that instinct is definitely already in her and you can see the character trajectory of who Sophia will become take slow form here.
It’ll be interesting to see Carol and Merle navigate around each other. The softening of canon Merle was very gradual and Carol is fresh off Ed here, so it'll be an interesting dynamic to explore. I like the pacing, you're letting the arc develop organically and nothing is on the nose—beautifully done.
It’s also very visual. It’s easy to see the master shots and envision what the Dixon camp looks like (or the Ed mound at the side of the Peletier camp). And, also, what would probably be a very tight shot of Merle waking up in his truck is wonderful. The focus on the physical fragility of Sophia, which I assume is foreshadowing something, is tugging on my heartstrings. Love all of that ❤️
I'm very much looking forward to seeing where this goes. Will the group expand to include others? Will Merle disappear for a while like in canon? Will Carol find a red shirt in Daryl’s stash of clothes and when will Merle’s stash of pharmaceuticals reappear (and come in handy)?
It's a great start to the new year to see you posting minisodes again and it's easy to see why your friend loved this. Thanks for sharing it with all of us 🤗😊
Kicking off 2024 with something fun(?) for a change. If you remember my minisode days, you may or may not remember one where I wrote Caryl beginning their relationship as enemies. One dear friend really loved it—why, I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♀️— but a year later, I wrote some additional scenes for her as gifts. She encouraged me to post them publicly, so now here I am doing that. Enjoy the links below along with a sneak peek 🫣

For the fanfic ask : 2, 4, 5, 6, 12, 18, 27, 30, 32, 39, 41, 42, 44, 45 ;)
All right, here we go.
2. Favorite genre of fic?
Definitely modern AU. Especially for Kabby, although I’ve read and loved some Caryl modern stuff as well.
4. Favorite pairing?
Right now? Kabby. Caryl will always have my heart, though. And I’ve already begun my yearly descent back into the trash can, so.
5. Favorite fic author?
Oh, nonny. You cannot expect me to choose just one of my talented companions. The Kabby fandom is filled with people who I learn from on a daily basis, and I’m so blessed to be among them. I love everyone, and I hope a few people love me, too.
6. Favorite fic?
Again, I have a long list. I’ll say that @kane-and-griffin‘s The Life You Make In The Ruins was the fic that inspired me to start writing fanfiction and gave me a family in the Kabby fandom, so it’ll always be special to me. But again, this fandom is filled with so many people, and so many amazing pieces of writing, that I could never possibly name them all. I have a fic rec list, and my absolute favorite fics are on there!
12. What turns you away most from a fic?
I’ll admit I’m picky about Abby’s characterization, since she’s the queen of my entire soul.
18. Favorite angst fic?
@skaihefamarcus WROTE A VERY PAINFUL CARYL THING AND I’LL LINK YOU TO IT HERE IN CASE YOU WANNA CRY TOO
27. Rough sex or gentle sex?
Preferably both. In different chapters, same chapters, I don’t care. Just give me the smut. :P
30. Favorite porn fic?
HA well I love @kane-and-griffin‘s Lights Below The Water and @skaihefamarcus‘ I Need You So Much Closer.
32. Favorite AU tropes?
FAKE DATING FAKE DATING FAKE DATING FAKE DATING, Marcus being the Blakes’ adoptive dad, Abby wearing glasses (uhm have you seen Paige Turco with glasses? Have you? That’s a yes from me), adorable dates at fancy restaurants, MARCUS WEARING LEATHER JACKETS, Marcus being an oblivious nerd - not like he’s not already on the show, though...
39. Favorite AU fic?
As I said above, @kane-and-griffin‘s The Life You Make In The Ruins changed my life by getting me into this fandom. But I also love @fandammit‘s Wonderwall, and I will take this opportunity to shamelessly promote @skaihefamarcus‘ and my Walking Dead AU because it’s my baby.
41. Favorite fluffy tropes?
CUDDLING! SO MUCH CUDDLING! Neck kisses, the delinquents placing bets on the state of Kabby’s relationship, really the kids messing with their relationship at all, dancing (especially slow dancing).
42. Least favorite fluffy tropes?
NONE HOW DARE YOU
44. How fluffy is too fluffy?
AGAIN, NONE HOW DARE YOU. I LOVE ALL FLUFF, SEND ME ALL THE FLUFF
45. Favorite fluff fic?
Uhm...here’s my rec list, these are my faves!
