Gina: "Lola is coming too."
Bloom: "Lola? She's in scouts, scouts don't steal."
Gina: "Wrong. She was in scouts, she no longer is. You should get out too. You're lame."
Bloom: "But I like being a scout...and if dad finds out I stole something, he'll be so angry! Stealing is bad."
Gina: "So is cheating on his husband and then doing it with our family's sworn enemy. Come on. Besides, how will a multimilion company suffer if you steal a pair of earrings for starters? You can do that, right? And if it somehow contributes to their bankrupt, that's actually a good thing. Screw rich multimilion companies."

DOJ Looks to Discredit Durham Report
LOS ANGELES (OnlineColumnist.com), July 24, 2021.--President Joe Biden’s Justice Department under Atty. Gen. Merrick Garland braces for a controversial report by former U.S. Atty., currently Special Counsel John Durham (R-Conn.), tasked by former Atty. Gen. Bill Barr of looking into former FBI Director James Comey’s counterintelligence investigation into former President Donald Trump.  Not one Democrat and no one in the press complained about Comey’s illegal coutnerintelligence investigation into Trump and his 2016 campaign, hoping to prevent him from becoming president, but, once president, to remove him from office.  Comey thought nothing of going to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act [FISA] Court to obtain warrants to wiretap Trump campaign officials George Papadopoulos and Carter Page, both of whom have been completely cleared of any wrongdoing, despite intrusive and criminal government spying.
Former National Security Agency Atty. Susan Hennessey has been promoted in Biden’s Justice Department expressed openly extreme prejudice against Barr and Durham’s investigation.  Hennessey had no problem at all with Comey’s counterintelligence investigation into Trump and the 2016 presidential campaign, believing Trump’s ties to the Russia warranted the counterintelligence investigation.  Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) both demanded an answer from Garland that Durham’s report, once it surfaced, will be given all the benefit of the doubt without Hennessey discrediting the report.  Durham already indicted former Justice Department Atty. Kevin Clinesmith for altering a document Comey used for the FISA Court.  Clinesmith pled guilty to one count of document tampering, resulting in the FISA court getting duped.
Democrats and the press are dreading Durham’s report because it could shed light on egregious abuses inside the Obama Justice Department.  Obama was present at Jan. 5, 2017 Oval Office meeting with all the president’s men looking to investigate Trump and his campaign staff.  Durham’s report could indict Comey for lying to the FISA Court to get warrants to wiretap Trump campaign officials. No one knows how far up the chain-of-command Durham’s report can go, including implicating former President Barack Obama and former Vice President now President Joe Biden.  Both actively participated in a Jan. 5, 2017 meeting with former CIA Director John Brennan, Comey, former National Security Adviser Susan Rice, Deputy Atty. Gen. Sally Yates, former FBI Agent Peter Strzok, etc., all to set up former National Security Adviser Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn in a perjury trap.
Durham was tasked by Barr as Special Counsel to turn the tables on the now defunct Mueller investigation that spent $40 million and 22-months investigating Trump’s alleged ties to the Kremlin.  Mueller knew, like all others alleging Trump’s Russian collusion, that the allegations made in former Secretary of State Hilary Rodham’s Clinton’s “Steele dossier” were completely bogus, yet Comey used the fake data to dupe the FISA Court to get warrants to wiretap Trump campaign officials.  Not one Democrat or their friends in the press questioned the dossier, knowing full-well that the allegations made by Steele were completely fake.  When push-came-to-shove, and Steele was asked under oath in Court to produce his underlying sources to the allegations, he told the court April 24, 2020, that he destroyed all the sources and sub-sources, meaning nothing verified the wild allegations against Trump.
Grassley and Johnson want a reassurance from Garland that Hennessey will not attempt to discredit the Durham Report consistent with her stated bias.  Durham’s report could include indictments of Comey and Brennan for their involvement in exploiting the FISA Court to secure warrants under false premises to wiretap Trump campaign officials.  When Clinesmith deleted Carter Page’s work for the CIA, it fooled the FISA Court into granting Comey’s request as FBI Director for permission to wiretap. “Durham has made abundantly clear that in a year and a half, he hasn’t come up with anything.  I guess this kind of partisan silliness become characteristic of Barr’s legacy. But unclear to me why Durham would want to go along with it,” Hennessey tweeted in Dec. 2020.  Garland should remove Hennessey from any involvement in the Durham probe and eventual report.
Hennessey should question why the CIA and FBI were so committed to investigating Trump when they knew Hillary’s Steele dossier was completely fabricated.  Sen. John McCain (R-Az.), a bitter enemy of Trump’s, hand delivered the Steele dossier to Comey, hoping to give him probable cause to launch a counterintelligence investigation.  What’s most ironic is that after Trump fired Comey May 9, 2017 for rampant leaking fake stories to the press, the press went wild charging Trump with “obstruction of justice.” How ironic that the press hounded the DOJ to appoint a Special Counsel, pressuring former Deputy Atty. Gen. Rod Rosenstein to appoint Mueller May 17, 2017 Special Counsel when Rosenstein knew that Hillary’s Steele dossier was totally fake.  Hennessey’s cynical manipulation of the facts does everything to protect corrupt Democrats and their surrogates in the press

Blackest Night
Tumblr media
The Blackest Night
Warning, Spoilers Ahead…
So, I finished the Blackest Night.  I had been reading Green Lantern and the Green Lantern Corps titles regularly until Blackest Night.  I was burnt out by the various color corps and I’m not a fan of big crossover events. The only three big events I’d rate as excellent were the original Crisis on Infinite Earths, Invasion, and 52. Comixology recently had a massive graphic novel sale and I snatched up Blackest Night and the Brightest Day volumes. I’d rate Blackest Night as average. I enjoyed the character interactions and small background moments more than the actual big event.  Mera, Atom, Larfleez, and Sinestro were the stand-out characters of Blackest Night.
 What I Liked:
1)      Superman’s death date as a memorial day for heroes and the victims of “super-crime”.
2)      The hidden graveyard of the Rogues.
3)      The remnants of the Justice League International visiting Ted Kord’s grave – Booster, Fire, and Ice were obvious choices.  Guy Gardner and Ted had a “love to hate” relationship but Guy’s appearances in Jaime’s Blue Beetle series demonstrated the respect he had for Ted.  Black Canary was only briefly a member but she and Ted had a mutual love of Russian literature.
4)      Damage’s guilt over surviving the massacre of the Freedom Fighters.
5)      Arthur’s land burial.  It makes sense that Arthur preferred to be buried next to his loving father as opposed to a cold tomb in a land of ungrateful people.
6)      The Justice League headquarters containing the remains of their deceased foes.  Logically, you wouldn’t want any criminal/mad scientist experimenting on the corpses. I do wonder if the foes’ families are consulted – Hal mentioned that the remains of heroes aren’t there because they “didn’t want to rob the families of paying their respects”.  Are the relatives of villains not allowed the same courtesy?
7)      “I’ll find it.” – I’m assuming Barry wants to find the Rogues’ hidden cemetery to pay his respects.  It would fit the Flash/Rogues relationship.
8)      “Who else died while I was gone?” – Barry’s shock and grief over Ralph and Sue was heart-breaking, I do find it weird that Barry was only now finding out – wasn’t Barry the least bit curious that he’s reunited with numerous heroes but Ralph – Barry’s best friend – was never there? Wally, Barry’s nephew and someone else who was very close to Ralph, never sat Barry down and said “there’s something you need to know about Ralph and Sue…”
9)      “Who else died while I was gone?”, part 2:  Barry’s a good man but shouldn’t his actual reaction have been “I don’t know who most of these people are?”  Numerous heroes and there were only around 15 Barry would have actually met.
10)   Don Hall’s utter refusal to participate in the Blackest Night.  Smart man.
11)   The focus on Mera and Ray Palmer.  I’m a fan of lesser characters receiving the spotlight as opposed to the same “A-listers” over and over again.
12)   Scarecrow’s complete non-reaction to an undead Azrael. Total boredom is not the typical reaction to a zombie attack.
13)   Luthor’s realization that he’s about to reap what he sowed.
14)   Jay-Barry-Wally-Bart! Diana-Donna-Cassandra! Clark-Conner!  One of my favorite aspects of pre-New 52 DC – family and legacy.
15)   Dove as the ultimate zombie killer.
16)   “Donna said if she was going down, she was going down fighting.”
17)   Sinestro’s utter glee in attacking the Guardians: “You have no idea how much I’ve been looking forward to this.”
18)   Larfleeze!
19)   Scarecrow as a Yellow Lantern – a natural choice and who knew he had a “big damn hero” moment in him?
20)   “You don’t want to get into a shouting match with Kilowog.”
21)   Luthor’s humiliation congo – he loses control to the orange ring, “The truth…what I really want…is to be Superman”, defeated by Larfleeze.
22)   Sinestro’s undying devotion to Abin Sur: “You let my friend die with everyone, with me, thinking him mad.  You destroyed Abin Sur to protect your lies!”
23)   Guy’s laser focus on Maxwell Lord.  Guy may be abrasive but he’s loyal to a fault – you can bet he remembers who murdered Ted.
24)   Barry’s disappointment at Ralph and Sue’s failure to resurrect.
 What I Didn’t Like:
1)      I am never going to care about Nekron or Black Hand.  Zombies, especially the hero-kind, were played out by this point.
2)      The “Who else died while I was gone”, the JLA HQ serving as their enemies’ tombs, the numerous deaths throughout the series, the heroes turning into Black Lanterns, the ending scene – all served to underscore how utterly pointless death and resurrection has become in comics.  Depending on how old you are, you remember reading – and feeling the impact of – Jean Grey’s suicide on the moon, Gwen Stacy’s neck snapping, the Joker murdering Jason Todd. I am a huge comic geek and I struggled to remember the numerous deaths – and how they occurred – that were referenced in Blackest Night.  Mostly because they were one-panel shock moments that contributed nothing to the overall story – they were forgotten as soon as they occurred.
3)      The long-running angst of Carter and Kendra’s relationship.  Ever since the resurrection of Carter it’s been more of an “obsessive stalker” rather than a love affair of the ages.  I don’t even like Kendra (I resented losing the awesome Shayera) but Shiera’s return was rather insulting to the character.  It felt like the writers couldn’t be bothered to resolve – or grew bored – with the Carter and Kendra’s situation so they went with the easy out of resurrecting Shiera.
4)      Carter’s lack of sympathy for Ray.  What an obnoxious ass!
5)      You gain control of the Spectre and do nothing with it?  What was the point?
6)      The meaningless deaths of Garth, Damage, etc.  Yes, I’m repeating my second point – it bears repeating – useless deaths that add nothing to the story.
7)      Gen’s death – The fridge is filled beyond capacity – did you really need to stuff another woman in it?
8)      I feel an opportunity was missed with Jason Todd’s absence – he could have been either a Black Lantern or Red Lantern. Jason wasn’t featured in the Batman tie-in either.  Honestly, it would have been better than the “bat-shit crazy” Jason we received from Grant Morrison.
9)      The Anti-Monitor’s appearance.  He’s supposed to be the ultimate threat to the universe not a third-rate villain’s bitch.
10)   Ted, Sue, and Ralph weren’t among the resurrected heroes!  Boo, hiss!

Favourite moment/element for each character, for each season.
I just had way too many choices to make, particularly for the characters who have been around for all 5 seasons! Also, some of these are obviously going to overlap a little with my top 5 moments series.
Harold Finch: (do you even know how much I angsted over having to just pick one scene per season?!)
Just to start off on a light note, I’ll go with my fav comedic moment for Harold, which would definitely be him being high as fuck and immediately wanting to hack into The Pentagon (Identity Crisis, 1x18).
“Did you know?” -- Harold Finch (God Mode, 2x22). I just loved all of his flashbacks. They were extraordinarily well done and watching him lose both Grace and Nathan was heart wrenching.
“Kill them all” -- Harold Finch (Beta, 3x21).
His scene with TM at the end in YHWH (4x22) of course!
The rules speech hands down (The Day The World Went Away, 5x10).
Root:
When she blew Corwin’s brains out and was all “so nice to finally meet you, Harold. You can call me Root.” (Firewall, 1x23). I instantly fell in love.
Her bad code speech of course! (The Contingency, 2x01)
“The universe is infinite and chaotic and cold...” -- Root (Root Path, 3x17)
Her shootout with Martine in Prophets (4x05) would have to take the cake.
“We might as well be a symphony” -- Root (The Day The World Went Away, 5x10).
Sameen Shaw:
“A good soldier does both” -- Sameen Shaw (Relevance, 2x16)
Her scene with Gen in Razgovor (3x05)
Her sacrifice in If-Then-Else of course! (4x11)
When Shaw admits that there was no safe space and that the one person she couldn’t kill was Root (6741, 5x04)
John Reese:
John and Kara talking about their place in a world that is rapidly accelerating technologically and him making the decision not to shoot her is one of my fav scenes for him (Matsya Nyaya, 1x20).
John in God Mode right at the beginning of the ep (2x22) was a revolutionary scene.
John letting Daniel Casey go (RAM, 3x16)
“Can you hear me?” “Hell yes!” -- TM and John Reese (YHWH, 4X22)
His final speech and sacrifice of course! (Return 0, 5x13)
Joss Carter:
Handing John over to Mark and then letting him go at the end (Number Crunch, 1x10)
Saving Elias from being murdered by HR at the end of s2 (God Mode, 2x22)
Her scene at the bar where she OWNS that idiot rookie cop (Razgovor, 3x05)
Fusco:
when he’s on his knees and about to die in Blue Code (1x15)
that opening scene in the snow that shows him sobbing over Stills’ body was very striking (In Extremis, 2x20)
his speech about how Carter changed his life and the legacy he left behind to Simmons (The Devil’s Share, 3x10)
??? there was that time when he was tortured and refused to give anyone up... again (Asylum, 4x21)
??????? I honestly can’t think of a single moment that stands out despite him actually having an arc this season. I guess overall I’d go with his staunch investigation into SAM and general refusal to put up with John and Finch’s bullshit.

An often cited book by John Berendt, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, once painted a picture of Savannah that endured for more than two decades
A slow-moving backwater populated by quirky characters with a penchant for preservation, pistols and deadly secrets. Some aspects of that image still hold true; however, a thriving tourism industry, a bustling port, military families and a creative class fueled by thousands of art and design students—some of whom remain long after graduation—has fostered an eclectic and innovative local spirit. Not many small cities can boast such a large roster of noteworthy festivals—indie, jazz and world music; book; film; food and wine—and more than one world-class museum, but that list just scratches the surface of all the best things to do in Savannah.
1. American Legion Post
This is a storied watering hole in the home of the Mighty Eighth Air Force. Nearly a full city block on Forsyth Park’s southern border is occupied by a complex built in 1913 to house the Chatham Artillery. In 1941, the legendary Mighty Eighth Air Force formed here. Now, locals wet their whistles at the Legion alongside U.S. veterans, all swapping stories over well-priced booze.
2. Historic District
Boasting 300 years of preserved history, the Landmark Historic District is an essential part of the city.
Not only will you get a great overview, but you’ll also note places worthy of a longer visit. Savannah College of Art and Design alum Jonathan Stalcup uses the district’s environment to weave a story that begins with Gen. James Oglethorpe’s 1733 plan and ends with an open question: what’s next?
3. Big Bon Pizza Pop-Up
An authentic wood-fire pizza oven on wheels.
Almost any night of the week, the heady scent of Neapolitan-style wood-fired pizza floats on the breeze, drawing the hungry curbside for a feast of the eyes and belly. Bright flames slither in the gaping mouth of a crimson-tiled dome as mother-daughter team Kay and Anna Heritage wield wooden paddles and warm smiles. Businesses and organizations all over town hire Big Bon for pop-up dinners and loyal fans follow them wherever they go.
4. Bonaventure Cemetery
The final resting place of Savannahians on the banks of the Wilmington River.
If any place illuminates the area’s dark beauty, it is the storied Bonaventure Cemetery in Thunderbolt, an historic shrimping community east of Savannah. Midcentury musical impresario Johnny Mercer lays beneath skulking live oaks fringed in Spanish moss, as does poet Conrad Aiken. The eyes of angels, little girls and Renaissance beauties, carved in marble, seem to follow your stroll along the meandering sandy paths.
5. Flannery O’Connor Childhood Home
The birthplace of the queen of Southern gothic literature.
A good man may be hard to find, but a great story isn’t, especially at this narrow townhome on Lafayette Square, where Mary Flannery O’Connor lived in the shadow of St. John the Baptist Cathedral until the age of 11. The home celebrates O’Connor’s quirky legacy with informative tours, whimsical tchotchkes, lectures by visiting authors, an annual birthday party and parade, and a series of Little Free Public Libraries.
6. Front Porch Improv
A weekly comedy show in the spirit of Upright Citizens Brigade.
Every Saturday night, Bull Street Labs—a tech incubator and shared work space in the Starland District—is taken over by Brianne Halverson and John Brennan, both veterans of big city sketch and improv comedy troupes. Their manic energy has fostered a burgeoning comedy community here that grows week by week. The audience gets in on the action, contributing stories and cues that performers riff on in the moment.
7. Leopold’s Ice Cream
Old-fashioned creamery where the tutti-frutti flavor was born.
Nearly a century ago, Stratton Leopold’s father and uncles opened Leopold’s Ice Cream, using homespun recipes for butter pecan, lemon custard and mint chocolate chip. When Stratton returned home after a career in Hollywood, he revived the family business and opened the sparkling soda fountain on Broughton Street, where there’s always a line no matter the weather. It’s worth the wait—and the cost of shipping, which is now available.
8. The Original Pinkie Masters
A local legendary dive bar.
A few years ago, Savannah was in danger of losing this dank hole-in-the-wall, where President Jimmy Carter and other politicians shook hands and secured votes, but master mixologist Matt Garappolo saved the venue and the name for another generation. It still smells like stale PBR and a pot-bellied pig is a frequent visitor, but it’s infused with a more festive vibe these days—maybe because you can now bring sandwiches in from The Diplomat next door.
9. Perry Lane Hotel
The city’s newest boutique hotel.
Locals were frustrated when parking for the Fancy Parker’s was commandeered by construction, but now they are giddy with the results. The Perry Lane is a sumptuous modern space—all glossy black and white. The rooftop bar, Peregrine, replete with lawn games, offers unparalleled views of the cityscape. The Wayward indoor lounge captures Savannah’s highbrow-downhome ethos. The ongoing music experience and literary lecture series enliven not only the visits from tourists but also engages the townies.
10. Roots Up Gallery
An affordably priced mecca to find outsider art.
The late Francis Allen and his wife, proprietor Leslie Lovell, shared their love for self-taught, primitive artists by opening Roots Up Gallery, now located in the Downtown Design District on Whitaker Street. Works by local and regional jewelers, painters, potters and collage folk artists, such as Howard Finster, Panhandle Slim and Robin Howard, are accessibly priced. The delightful Location Gallery is just across the street, featuring themed pieces by even more local artists.
