Thinking about the somewhat common headcanon of sburb game npcs/carapacians remembering previous sessions. This could be anything from dreaming about it to outright remembering all the events across eternity.

Of course, sburb could have code against negative reactions (sburb is a perfectly balanced game with no bugs or glitches) but wouldn't that lead to many painful memories resurfacing over potentially endless years.

The battlefield is horrifying enough, but how would individual characters handle it? I can't imagine CD having a good reaction to seeing his friends die countless times in likely pointless ways.

DD would consider looking back at cracks in his image a personal failure and become embarrassed by mounting events that were overall inconsequential.

Not much needs to be said for WV and the loss of his men over consecutive millennia.

Nothing good could come of Jack collecting irritations over centuries and having powerlessness weigh on him. The idea of there being no way out because the cycle is unbreakable.

I'm not against this headcanon at all; I'm just curious how it could be used.

Ok here's one. I don't like when people draw the mobswitch characters as gray, especially when theyre human. It seems silly. Blah blah blah Grimdark, sure, but ALL THE TIME? I would understand more if it was just when they were like, using their powers or possessed, like how it works for Rose or Jade, right? But all the time? That's so silly, and often looks quite... thoughtless to me. I don't think anyone who does it is necessarily wrong or worse for doing it but it doesn't make like. sense.

Specifically if they look human, right? If the Midnight Crew are also supposed to have horrorterrors in someone's headcanons, like how the Twilight Scoundrels do, then why do I never see the Midnight Crew human forms drawn as gray? At least be consistent, y'know? The way I like to approach mobswitch involves a difference in the characters happening to them over time starting in their past based on experiences and stuff, they aren't just possessed inherently. Team Sleuth are not inherently more vulnerable to horrorterrors in a way that turns them gray than the Midnight Crew, especially if the evolution into someone who would have a horrorterror starts deeper in their past. Honestly the only way I can accept it as a well thought out and rational choice is if the Midnight Crew normally are ALSO gray, OR, the Twilight Scoundrels/Team Sleuth are humans and the Meddlesome Company/Midnight Crew are carpacians, and they don't have the same physical reactions to horrorterror patronage. But we know what that looks like in Rose and Jade, and it's tied to direct possession anyway!

OH also I think the typical names for HB and CD in mobswitch are kinda flat and lazy so I change them. My mobswitch names are Heedful Blandisher and Clever Draftsman, and i really like Scurrlious as the forename for Scout also. It just feels right to give them something more complicated when we have names like Peccant Scofflaw and Pernicious Innovator. I need to change Dick's as well, Angry Delinquent might not cut the mustard for me personally either :/

I've got a bit of an odd situation. See, we picked up a Rage Player between sessions. Quiet guy, bit of an asshole at times, really his short swords. He keeps talking about his dream self doing paperwork on derse? And being surrounded by windows? And some overarching conspiracy to murder nobility or something? Our new Sage of Time, they were a Prince last game, said something about how the newbie had ecto-biological data from some "SS" entity in-game. I guess I'm supposed to fuck up our new player's ecto-biological cloning or something. I'm not happy about it, nobody's happy about it, this has not been a good time. All I know is, is that I don't think we're prepared to face off against a glitch dream-self that may or may not be a derse carpacian or something. ( How do you even god-tier that? I don't know, and our Thief of Rage is, well, raging about it. ) Do you have any advice? ... Also is it bad to be a Bard twice in a row? I don't mind being the Bard. But, if it consists of getting lost on the battlefield twice, and potentially missing the final boss battle (again), I'm going to be very annoyed.

Also I think I'm connecting the pieces. The "SS entity" is probably Spades Slick, the Scurrilous Straggler, the Sovereign Slayer. Jack Noir. Which would explain the player's dreamself 1) being confined to Derse, which is where Jack Noir lives 2) being confined to bureaucracy in an office, which is what Jack Noir does 3) doing weird murderous conspiracies, which is what Jack Noir does when he's not handling bureaucracy. Also wait hold on a fucking second, are you implying your Thief of Rage is like, The Son of Jack Noir. Did I read that correctly. Are you telling me your player shares DNA with Jack Fucking Noir. These asks are gonna drive me to drink one day.

I choose not to believe that your Thief of Rage is the secret lovechild of Jack Noir because briefly considering it caused me to curl up into a ball involuntarily for several hours. It was like an instinct.

In the event that your Thief of Rage is the secret lovechild of Jack Noir, I really wish that SBURB's coding didn't disable suicide, and also I legitimately don't know how his ectobiological code mixes with a player's in such a manner that their dreamself becomes him(???) but not the actual player. This is all bullshit, if this is true then good luck. You broke me, congratulations.

The much more likely possibility is Apocryphal Antithesis. Essentially, your Thief of Rage is missing a sleep ratio stat, and so their Dreamself is a distinct entity with its own agenda. I imagine that it's co-ordinating with Jack Noir to murder all of you, because that's typically what happens with Apocryphal Antithesis (the murder part, not the Jack collab itself). The good news is, if you're in a position to God Tier, just do it. Your Thief of Rage can't, y'know, by himself, but if one of you takes him behind the shack and onto his Quest Bed, his dreamself will automatically merge with him as he ascends. Indeed, even if it isn't Apocryphal Antithesis (I refuse to believe the other option), this might fix it anyway. If there's anything weird about your Dreamself, god-tiering is the "turn it on and off again" of solutions. Highly effective and simple and everyone should try resorting to that immediately.

the incipisphere explained!

the incipisphere is literally the area in which sburb takes place, but in the midst of homestuck's chaos it can be hard to decipher how it works and what's going on in it. but its actually a really fun mechanic in sburb, and the lore is great too ^_^ excited to explain (hopefully) most of it!!

overview

the incipisphere is the space in which you actually play sburb. players enter through using an artifact made off a scanned totem lathe (the method of actually entering sburb is complicated 4 me so this is all im mentioning on that..)

here's a quick map to show we'll be going through in the incipisphere:

medium

the medium is the area inside of the veil, where most things in the incipisphere reside (player planets, the battlefield, skaia, etc.)

the veil

a ring of meteors seperating the medium and the outer fields, where derse lies.

skaia

skaia is the birthplace of a sburb session's new universe. within it lies endless creativity and possibilities, and the players' goal is to build up to all the gates and ascend to skaia with the essence of the genesis frog, creating the new universe and winning the game.

the battlefield

the area inside of skaia in which the 2 kingdoms have the ultimate battle between prospit & derse, creation & destruction. as more and more kernelsprites are prototyped, the kings & queens of each kingdom gain the prototyped abilities/attributes, making both the armies and the battlefield itself more and more complicated & intense as time carries on. derse has always been destined to defeat prospit, but only gains the winning edge once the sburb session actually begins and kernelsprites are prototyped. this is why players must defeat the black/dersian king before they can destroy skaia itself.

prospit

also known as the kingdom of light, prospit is one of the 2 kingdoms in the incipisphere and it resides closest to skaia. it makes sense that prospit dreamers would be objective-oriented and quick to lead, aswell as being easygoing and/or insightful, due to their close relationship with skaia. known as the "kingdom of light" can also be a reference to prospits relationship with skaia, an entity with endless knowledge and insight (aka qualities of the light aspect). goals of prospitian dreamers once they wake up can include a number of things, such as talking to skaia for insight on the session, discussing strategies with the white queen, rally prospitian allies, etc. etc..

derse

derse is the kingdom of darkness, the only thing residing out of the medium & the veil, with its only goal being the destruction of skaia. derse dreamers tend to either focus on the past and/or future, or their goals/sense of self can be shrouded in darkness. the goal of dersian dreamers is to spy on the enemy: the black queen, dersian agents (ex: jack noir) etc..

overall: the kingdoms

prospit isnt "good" and derse isnt "evil". theyre simply 2 sides of the same chess board, battling it out. the goal of prospit is creation, and derse is destruction, and this makes their only inherent difference their motives. prospits creation is predestined, because of skaia's insight. derse is the idea of mystery, because all possibilities are shrouded in darkness (both of these are represented by their physical locations). these qualities are reflected on the dreamers, the carpacians, agents, royalty, everyone. basically a very symbolic game of chess.

player planets

planets that are formed once a sburb player has entered their session. all planets will be located around skaia, will be the same size, have consorts and be the same distance from skaia. the only difference between planets is conducted by the player's classpect, and the challenges they must overcome because of it. a good example is john with the land of wind and shade (lowas). as an heir of breath, he is practically intertwined with his aspect. which makes perfect sense of his planets problem: to play the wind, and be one with it. by succeeding, he blows the dusty/shady clodes away and the consorts/inhabitants of his planet can breathe properly again. planets also each have a denizen representing the player's aspect, and there is always the same possible set of denizens across all sessions (not going too into that... this is where homestuck gets based off greek mythology and such which seems fun to get into but also a hassle to figure out for me personally T_T) players can encounter their denizens at the heart/center of their planet and consult them on personal, aspect-related challenges (like how jade was having a dilemma with the space aspect and went back to her planet to find her denizen and talk to her about it).

We're all different. For example, I am a carpacian, or a beetle person, while my partner Banquo is a ghost, and my good friend Kuryu is a leporine- a rabbit man. The main host is a fairy.

Now THAT is just faulty world building on part of both Hussie and the new gang.

The first part can easily be said to be analogous to the classic tale of "uniting despite our differences" that we human-people have.

The second part is, again, shitty world building. I mean the rulers of the consort kingdoms in the begining weren't evenconsort, it was Dirk and Jake, and a sprite. I mean what even is Consort culture like, what are the opinions of the carpacians on the war between the humans and the trolls; do they agree with the humans? What does the relations between all four of them look like?

All of these are interesting questions that get ignored because they aren't related to either humans nor troll. The team does care about the other races(ha).

There is also the question on whether either a consort or the carpacian can play sburb given how they're game contructs.

Isn't Earth C divided into Kingdoms, just another form of segregation? Do we know if other trolls can live in the Human Kingdom or Carapacians can live in Consorts Kingdom?
