Day Fifteen: Nostalgia
‘This is ridiculous,’ Carolyn whispered, her breath tickling Alia’s cheek as they huddled beneath the Invisibility Cloak to follow the groundskeeper. ‘You can’t really think he did it.’
‘I don’t know,’ Alia admitted, really hoping that she was wrong this time. That there couldn’t possibly be a chance he was the reason Freddy was petrified in the Hospital Wing. Not after everything he’d done to help them already.
During their second year at school, Alia and her friends are faced with the possibility of a monster stalking the school hallways, petrifying those that stand in their way. But with whispers of Alia’s own possible involvement in the acts coming to light, it seems like this year might just be as busy as the first year was for them, rather than quieter.
Take the books, shows, or movies you enjoyed as a child and put your oc into them! Or, show us what your oc enjoyed as a child.

Merry Christmas to Kitten! Since you can have a hard time with music when it comes to stories, I hope this one helps! All these songs, either by lyrics or vibes, remind me of Alia and her gang.

‘Come on Alia,’ Freddy said, glancing briefly at Carolyn as if she might be his backup in this moment. She offered him little more than a shrug before turning her attention back to her nails. ‘It’s not like I’m asking you to sell your soul or anything.’
‘You know, that might actually be preferable,’ Alia mused, only half-joking as she flipped to another page in the old spell book.
Freddy scoffed. ‘You’d rather sell your soul that show someone around the school?’
Alia made a noncommittal gesture as she turned her attention back to the book.
‘She doesn’t care about whatever talent might be coming,’ Carolyn said, kicking her feet up onto the desk beside Alia’s book. ‘She has her dashing book sales assistant.’
Alia groaned, but didn’t deign the teasing with an actual response.
‘I, on the other hand, think they’ll need a good private tour of the place.’
‘What if they’re not your type, Care?’ Freddy asked reasonably.
Carolyn gave a tinkling little laugh as Alia shifted her book away from her friend’s shoes. ‘Challenge accepted.’
With a scoff, Freddy put his hand on Alia’s book, all but forcing her attention his way once more.
‘Why is it so important to you that I do this?’ she asked, resigning herself to the fact that she was never going to get this research done. The job would have to wait.
‘Why is it important that you try and do something normal in the midst of all the weird that actually surrounds your life you mean?’ Freddy quirked an eyebrow, but held her questioning gaze. There was an almost sadness behind his eyes that she’d never seen before. After everything he’d seen, everything she’d done, he was worried that it was taking its toll on her. That it was his fault for pushing the business instead of letting her research the occult in peace. He still didn’t understand that it had never been risk free; now there were simply more of them involved.
Alia opened her mouth, but at that moment the door to the common room opened. All of them glanced that way, and instantly Alia was thinking up a spell of protection for them.
Not that it had been necessary. The head teacher hovered in the doorway, eyes slipping between the three of them, as if searching for the rule they were breaking. A small smile curled his lips as his attention rested on Freddy.
‘Ah, Mr. Ashcroft, here you are,’ he said jovially.
‘Nowhere better to be, Sir,’ Freddy said, moving around the table so he stood beside Alia. ‘Has the new kid arrived?’
A very slight scowl, as if he were meant to know the name of his charge, but the head didn’t miss a beat. ‘Adam,’ the head introduced, moving aside to indicate to the blond behind him, ‘this is Freddy, Alia and Carolyn.’ He indicated to each of them as he spoke. ‘They’re going to be showing you around. Stick with Freddy though, your timetables match up enough.’
‘Hi,’ Freddy said brightly. ‘Welcome to St. Michael’s.’
All through the little greeting, Alia noticed that Adam’s attention didn’t stray once to Freddy. The whole time his eyes remained on her, a cold stare that unnerved her more than she would care to admit. There seemed to be a slight malicious snarl curling the edge of his lips; a flash of something she couldn’t place behind his blue eyes.
In an instant, however, the look passed. A curtain dropping across it as he smiled somewhat coyly at Freddy and rubbed a hand across the nape of his neck. ‘Thanks. I think I’m going to like it here.’

@fiercefray and @justmoreocs present: A Constantine Siblings Christmas (Part of the 12 Days of Crossovers Event)
Never in Eden’s wildest dreams did she ever think she would spend Christmas in London, let alone two years in a row. It was the only time of year she really had to spend with the siblings on her father’s side. Not that they were doing that now. They were on a mission. The mission to find the perfect Christmas present for John Constantine.
“Can’t he just,” Carolyn waved her hand in the air. She had decided to join Eden while Freddy chaperoned Cami. Couldn’t let the Americans loose on the shop streets. The chaos of Christmas in London was apparently not a joke. “Magic himself whatever he wants? Can’t you?” “It isn’t the same,” replied Eden. “Not to mention I have no idea what to get him.” The other girl shrugged. “Fair. Oh! I’ll be back in just a second.” Carolyn rushed off towards a display of handbags. She had been saying something about needing to get her mum one. So Eden was left to her defenses. Eden wandered through the shop. Why couldn’t this be as easy as shopping for everyone else? She had her family done, no problem. Her other siblings were a breeze. Why not her father? She stopped in front of a table displaying scarves. Right on top was a beautiful Burberry scarf. Her fingers passed over the cashmere fabric as a strange thought popped into her head. Maria would look beautiful in this. She paused in her caress. Maria? Why would she be thinking about her? After all, she had attempted to murder all of them. Between her, Adam, and Saul, they barely had a break from all the terrible things that happened this last year. But then again, she was only doing what she was told by her mother. Same with her brothers. And, even though they were all from different Earths, all of them were technically her half-siblings as well. Eden picked up the scarf and put it in her basket. So her mission changed. She wandered all over looking for something for her more nefarious brothers. Eventually, Eden was able to find a beautiful purple silk button down that she knew would look wonderful on Saul. Adam was a bit harder. Maria may have had more violent instincts, but Adam acted on his much more than his sisters, even Cami. A chime from her pocket broke her trance.
Alia Find anything yet? Justin Not yet. Cami Nada.
Eden sighed. Guess no one has having any luck. She shoved her phone back into the pocket of her jacket when she spotted it. She felt the smooth glass as she gazed into the snow globe. Eden had no clue why this thing reminded her of the cruelest brother. With a quick shake, the snow inside scattered and gently fell inside, covering the scene it depicted. A key was hidden in the back of the base and when she gave it a few twists, it sang. ‘Silent Night’ played in a rather bittersweet music box sound. She set it into her basket with the others when her phone chimed again.
Carolyn Did you find anything? Eden Not really. But I did find some presents for some people I missed. Carolyn Cool. I’ll meet you outside then.
Eden shoved her phone back into place as she made her way towards the registers.
After all, no one needed to know.

My posts have been shared hundreds of times--thank you to each and every one who has taken the time to share, for keeping an eye out online, and in person. Words cannot convey the depth of my gratitude. I am still searching for places to post and cannot give up hope our baby is out there. Update 7/9: still no word or even a message that anyone has seen him. Please if you live in or around Rutledge I am begging for your help. I love 200 miles away and at the mercy of the kindness of residents there to bring our baby home. In the comments I have posted a pic of the flyer generated by Home Again as well as the link with HelpingLostDogs.com Original post: Please accept my apologies for the long post. I am posting from over 200 miles away at the mercy of the power of social media and the kindness of those who take the time to read/ share this. I am messaging local businesses and groups around and in Rutledge despirately hoping for help. My daughter was in Rutledge, TN visiting her husband's family as they do each year. Her 6 year old mini chihuahua took off into the woods behind his uncle's place. My son-in-law is active duty Army and they had to return to North Carolina Sunday (07 July) so we are pleading with anyone who sees this to please help bring our furbaby home. There are family members in the area who can meet to get him if he's found. We've had Grizzly since he was 5 wks old and is my daughter's therapy dog by every aspect of its definition, but more than that, he is our furbaby. ADDITIONAL PICTURES ALONG W PRINTABLE INFORMATION PIC BELOW He is often called "Giz" or "Gizzy", loves car rides, friendly, but is skiddish if "chased". He had a blue bandana w a bow on it when he was last seen as well as a white flea collar. He is neutered so has the blue tattoo on his belly from that. I am hoping perhaps someone, a few people, would be such a blessing and print this picture and place it in/ around Rutledge for us it would be greatly appreciated. ‘Has she stopped at all?’ Freddy asked, bowing his head ever so slightly to whisper the question into Carolyn’s ear.
She scoffed softly, but he heard the note of concern behind her voice. ‘What do you think?’
‘Reckon it’s time to call in the big guns?’ Freddy’s hand was already straying to his inside pocket, to his phone where Gemima Underwood’s phone number had been saved on speed dial since he learnt about Alia’s peanut allergy.
‘No,’ Carolyn said sternly, her fingers curling around his wrist. For once, Freddy was aware of the chill of her skin. The reminder of lingering winter weather that she somehow never managed to catch. ‘One, I don’t want to worry her with this. Two, you’ve not spoken to her yet.’
‘What?!’ Freddy asked, voice raising slightly more than he’d hoped for. It was a true testament to just how deeply into research she was, that Alia didn’t even seem to look up when his attention snapped to her.
A fleeting smirk flashed across Carolyn’s face, and Freddy lowered his voice. ‘Why me?’
Carolyn rolled her eyes, slowly unfurled her fingers from his wrist. ‘She told me five minutes like an hour ago. Marty basically just got told to bring her tea. Zeph didn’t even get words. Oh, and Madame L was literally no help, and grumbled something in Russian.’
‘Question avoidance, Miss Grainger. You’re not a politician.’
‘You’re her best friend, Freddy. Don’t,’ she said quickly, obviously sensing his argument, ‘even try to counter that I am too. Different kinds of best mates.’
Freddy heaved a deep breath; to anybody else those words might have been taken in another way other than as completely platonically as they were meant. The three of them had a dynamic that seemed to constantly shift depending on the needs of each other. There was a love there that so many people seemed to misinterpret, and yet between the three of them it made complete sense. Freddy supposed that was all that mattered really. ‘Fine,’ he snapped, though there was no real annoyance in his voice. He just hoped that perhaps between them they could remind Alia that she was only human, and looking after herself was more important than taking on the dangers alone.

Day Twenty-Nine: Couples Costume
‘What are you wearing?’ Jed scoffed, his attention straying between Carolyn and Tamas.
Carolyn gave him a twirl, a grin on her face. ‘Sweeney Todd and Mrs Lovett.’
‘But she wanted to be Sweeney,’ Tamas said, awkwardly lifting the apron of his dress and glaring at it slightly.
‘But you look beautiful,’ she cooed, shifting to kiss him softly on the cheek. She couldn’t wait to see what Freddy had persuaded Alia to dress up as, and if he’d managed to persuade Marty and Zeph to tag along too.
Kruger Halloween parties were famous in Saint Michael’s, and for the first time Carolyn had managed to persuade Tamas that it should be fancy dress. But, with ideas for couples costumes slightly lower on the ground than normal, Carolyn decides to take inspiration from a movie she watched with her mother: Sweeney Todd.
Show us what matching costume your oc and their love interest would wear! Peanut Butter & Jelly? Morticia & Gomez? Bert & Ernie?

Carolyn had always believed herself to be a reasonably tolerant person. She didn’t always show it, simply because some people didn’t deserve it, but very rarely did someone actually push her to annoyance. Unfortunately for Zeph, the events of the previous week had tipped him from friend to a person Carolyn was sincerely struggling to tolerate, let alone be civil to. But, for the sake of saving face, she’d tried because she knew the others wouldn’t. Freddy already had too many roles to play, and Alia was struggling more than she’d ever done before.
‘Carolyn, can we talk?’ Zeph’s voice was soft as he caught up to her, and yet it grated on her.
For once, she ignored the teasing smirk Mike sent her and turned to face Zeph. His cheeks were slightly flushed, hair still damp from his morning shower. He looked exhausted; there was a slight dusting of stubble over his jaw and upper lip. The whole effect almost had her feeling sorry for him.
‘Out here,’ she said simply, nodding towards the empty courtyard. If they were lucky, the conversation might be cut short by a flood of people heading down for breakfast.
Zeph followed her obediently.
Only once they were in the courtyard facing each other did he talk. Carolyn could hear the guilt, his own hurt, in his voice, but found it only irked her rather than elicited a sympathetic reaction.
‘I didn’t mean for it to happen like this. I wanted – ’
‘What do you want me to say, Zeph?’ she cut across him irritably. ‘That it’s fine. That it all makes sense. That what you did was somehow forgivable.’ She scoffed, folded her arms defensively across her chest. ‘I can’t do that, and you know it.’
‘Nothing like that,’ he offered softly, looking more dejected than Carolyn had ever seen anybody look. ‘Just… I want to apologise.’
‘Consider your apology aired, but you know none of us are gonna accept it,’ she told him, voice softening ever so slightly. Deep down, part of her appreciated very little of their current situation was actually his fault. But that didn’t actually help anything. ‘At least not yet.’
Zeph swallowed; his throat bobbed and she could have sworn tears glistened in his eyes.
Somebody cheered in a nearby corridor, shattering the moment.
‘Thank you,’ he whispered, before striding away, in the opposite direction to the canteen.
Carolyn exhaled slowly, unfolding her arms as she did so. She just hoped things might get a little easier after the half term break; hoped they all might get some time away from the school to help heal them.

To most people, Carolyn Grainger appeared to be the rebellious daughter of the police commissioner. A party girl who refused to miss out on any festivity, even if she only knew the person she’d been invited by. To some, she was the quirky history nerd who could spout facts about random time periods, and was willing to argue over primary sources even as she did her makeup for the evening. But to those that mattered, she was fiercely loyal and constantly keeping a check on them.
‘Care,’ Tamas said softly, pulling her gaze from the top of her long cold coffee, and towards him. There was a pinch of concern between his brows that tugged at her heart.
‘Has something happened?’ she asked, already partway to standing.
Tamas rested a careful yet firm hand on her shoulder. ‘Other than Fred Ashcroft honestly doing a Draco Malfoy and pulling out the “My father will hear about this” card?’ There was gentle amusement in his voice, an attempt at lightening the mood, but Carolyn didn’t need that. She needed brutal honesty. The kind of answer only Alia ever offered.
‘Tamas,’ she barely breathed, the name hitching in her throat.
‘Hey, sorry,’ he said quickly, pulling her in for a tight hug that she didn’t have the energy to pull away from. ‘Nothing changed. Zeph managed to get Freddy to take a walk. Marty’s in there; and Jed, would you believe. And her barista?’
‘Justin,’ Carolyn murmured. ‘Her brother.’
‘Brother?’ echoed Tamas.
‘Dad’s side. Half-brother. It was a whole thing,’ Carolyn said dismissively.
‘Huh,’ breathed Tamas, moving a little of her hair as he did so. ‘There’s an interesting story there, isn’t there?’
‘Well, when a man and woman –’
‘Oi,’ joked Tamas, gently pulling away but leaving his arms wrapped around her back. ‘I know how that works.’
Carolyn made a sound of amused disagreement, and a little of the concern seemed to smooth away from his brows.
‘Was it weird shit?’
Carolyn heaved a sigh before finally freeing herself from his embrace. Down the corridor, she spotted the towering figure of Zeph ever so gently guiding a zombie-like Freddy towards fresh air.
‘What in recent weeks hasn’t been?’ she asked, hearing the vague note of bitterness in her own voice. ‘I’m just gonna –’
‘Carolyn,’ Tamas said, gently catching her wrist before she could rush off, ‘take a break.’
‘That’s what I’ve been doing.’
‘No, it’s not,’ he countered, motioning to her still untouched cup of coffee.
With a deep sigh, Carolyn allowed herself to sink back into her seat. ‘I just hate it,’ she admitted in a small voice.
‘I know, Tamas said, dropping to sit beside her and gently pulling her to his side. ‘It’s gonna be all right though.’
Carolyn rested her head on his shoulder, desperately willing herself to believe those words.
