Comforting your tears-BG3

If they found you crying

Ugh I know my old friends are sick of this prompt because I’ve probably done it one hundred times..but can you blame me??

Before reading: gn reader, Angst (if you squint) with comfort, Astarion x reader, Gale x reader, Halsin x reader (separate)

Astarion:

Astarion has shed his fair share of tears in his prolonged life

Not recently, of course (Unless this takes place after a certain quest line…)

And he’s used to seeing others cry, wether they be his conquests when they realize his actual intentions,

Wether he sees a lost child in the night sobbing for his mother,

Wether it be a sad woman mourning a loss in the darkened graveyard

But he’s never seen you cry, and he’s never craved that sight either

He’s not sure why you were crying, and he doesn’t take time to ask you that

Because if he’s being honest, he doesn’t know what to do

He has never once had to comfort another’s tears, and if he ever has, there was always an ulterior motive

But here you were, trying to suck back floods of tears before him

And all he could do was stand still, a small furrow in his brow

In all honesty, he waits for you to do something first

To reach for him, to say his name, anything

Even just telling him to go away would be enough, because it would give him the slightest bit of direction

If you shove him away, without hesitation he shall flee

But if you move the slightest bit, he rushes to your side

His hand twitch as they hold you, not knowing if this is truly what you need to feel better

But perhaps, these hands which have killed many,

Can also comfort.

Gale:

Similar to Astarion, he’s not quite sure what the best remedy for a broken heart is

But he is a lot less clueless

When he sees you, he wishes so badly to take all of your pain and inflict it onto himself

He’d rather die than see you like this again

He thinks back to his youth, how his mother would confer him when he would cry or become upset

He also thinks ‘How would I want to be comforted?” Only to be bombarded with thoughts of Tara purring sleepily in his lap

So that wasn’t gonna work

He silently takes you in his arms, rubbing loving circles into your back

He kisses your temple, whispering ‘What’s wrong?’ Into your ear

If you shake your head or don’t respond, he’s not going to push you for any more information

If you begin to tell him, he listens diligently, not interrupting you

He rocks you back and forth, hoping he’s helping you in some way

My bro is trying his best 💪

Halsin:

Halsin is easier than the other two because omg he’d be the best at comforting you

Like Gale, he would just scoop you up in his arms and shower you with affection

He’s also a very smooth talker

You need him to distract you? He already has a story to tell you

You need him to whisper loving nothings into your ear? He’s gonna make it his life goal to make your cheeks grow red

He takes your hand in his, placing it atop of his chest, allowing you to feel the soft rise and fall of his breathing

This is something he does often, waiting for you to follow suit

Times like these are precious to him, because it shows him that you feel able to be vulnerable around him

In his eyes, vulnerability is so beautiful, even if it leaves your face tear stained and red

He presses his lips to your temple, lingering for a long moment

He wouldn’t mind staying like this for a while

It’s been a while! I hope you’re all doing great, and I’m sorry for once more going on a forever break lol. But of course, Baldurs Gate 3 brainrot is so real

Before reading: Fluff, headcanons, Astarion, Lae’Zel, Gale, Shadowheart x reader (separate), gn reader

Astarion:

“Oh? I see you still can’t say no to my endless charm..”

At the beginning of the relationship, touches and prodding aren’t uncommon

Anything that can bring your attention to him

It takes a while and a lot of convincing from you that his somewhat risqué touches was not all that pleased you

And eventually he can even process that you don’t just love him for his body

Although hard for him to realize, with your help he can

So after your relationship has really blossomed and grown, his touches become softer, calmer, more intimate

Nights by the crackling fire, you in his lap, his hand massaging your nape

His fingers are dangerously cold against your skin, but there’s a sense of comfort that comes with the chill

Although he will brush off your reassurance as pitiful and unneeded..

Please reassure him omg

For the longest time, he will surely believe you are like all his other conquests,

Seduced by him and his charms

But just small whispers of love into his ear, your comforting touch against his skin

That’s enough for him.

Gale:

But you are so willing to hear him go on and on, that he can’t help but love you

His index finger instinctively draws shapes into your back when you hold each other

When he’s cuddled up with you, his worries that today might be his last don’t even cross his mind

He’s more worried about you, how you feel, if you’re comfortable

He doesn’t care if tonight is the last night he shall ever see you

He’d rather die tomorrow than live for an eternity never knowing you

Lae’Zel:

“Chk..I do not take part in worthless acts of intimacy.”

Lae’Zel is not much of a ‘cuddles’ person

Like at all…

She’d rather feel the thrill of battle with you, bathing in the blood of your enemies

Her way of loving is slaughtering anyone who even just looks at you the wrong way

But, if you’re particularly lucky, or especially down

She can’t help but..pity you

In her mind, it’s such a disgusting feeling. This ‘love’ makes her weak, but she cannot run from it no matter how much she tries

The most touch you’ll get from her will only occur in private

A hand perched protectively on your hip or waist

Her head slumped on your shoulder when you’re on watch for the night

acts like this, although small

It means so,so much from her

And she’ll kill you if you go telling Shadowheart about how ‘sweet’ she was being last night

Shadowheart is lost when it comes to you

Not only is she horribly confused that you of all people would love her

She’s confused as to how she’s supposed to love you

Her entire life, for what she can remember, she’s never been shown comfort or remorse

If she did something wrong, she was punished

She doesn’t remember a single moment in her life when she was loved the way you love her

And although grateful, she feels unworthy

Hugs are common with her, of course in private, but common nonetheless

When she hold you in her arms, the pads of her fingers massage your back lovingly, worried if she lets go, you’ll flee

As many have stated, Ahsoka is a reckless girl, and as soon as you make her heart beat faster she is on your tail

She’ll follow you for a bit, looking over her shoulder at you discreetly or not caring at all and just looking right at you if you’re doing something with your back turned

She really does love you, even though you’ve said all but three words to her. But never mind that, the Force draws her in to you!

She invited you to look at a rock she found on a planet she had just recently visited, and the next thing you know you’re on the floor, being knocked out

(Y/N) sighed dejectedly as they walked back to their house slowly as they could. It hadn't been a terrible day, all things considered, but as luck would have it, they just had to get into a fight with their friends. Well, actually, they didn't know if that group even considered them a friend. The doubt certainly crossed their mind a couple of times, but after today they were certain that their friendship was over.

They passed by Tonio's and already their heart clenched at the sight of Josuke laughing with Okuyasu and Koichi. As much as they really liked Josuke (no, it was love), they didn't know if Josuke felt likewise towards them. He was certainly a nice classmate and he didn't seem bothered talking to them, but still it was too much of a risk. And after today, (Y/N) didn't want to risk the relationship.

And yet, they really wanted to see Josuke smile at them like that. His blue-ocean eyes sparkling as his laugh made their heart soar. (Y/N)'s own eyes began to water as they sat down on a nearby bench, heart sinking as they made tiny glances Josuke's way.

Then, they made eye contact with Josuke. His blue with their (e/c).

Oh.

Oh no!

(Y/N) turned away, face as red as a tomato. What were they thinking?! This wasn't time to be moping around whatsoever! Josuke didn't owe them anything when he didn't know them that well whatsoever! They looked down and found their scuffed shoes fascinating as they began to wait for the bus. They could hear the various sounds of shoes onto the rough ground, the feeling of another person sitting down next to them, the scent of hairspray wafting close...

(Y/N) turned around to see Josuke smiling at them and instantly, the sparks went off in their heart. They hid their face behind their bag as they tried to process their crush sitting next to them. In response, he decided to move just a little closer. His presence was comforting and (Y/N) secretly reveled in this gesture.

"Hey, (Y/N)," His cheery voice sent them over the moon. "You okay?"

"Uh, of course," (Y/N) lied, forcing a smile. "I'm okay! Why do you ask, Josuke-san?"

"Because when I saw you, you didn't look too great. In fact, you were really, really sad." He frowned as he gently held (Y/N)'s hand. "What's the matter? Is someone giving you a hard time?"

"Oh, no, no," (Y/N) lied further, not wanting to involve Josuke with all of their problems. "I've just...been feeling down, is all! It's just been a down day! Everyone has down days, hahaha..." They trailed off as the ladybug on the ground looked very, very, very fascinating right now.

"Well, if that's the case, do you wanna come over my house for some video games? That always cheers me up whenever I'm down!"

"..." (Y/N)'s eyes were as big as dinnerplates at this point.

"Er, of course," Josuke stumbled back, his cheeks sporting a blush. "If you don't want to, it's fine. We could always do something else you're itching to do. Uh, that is if..."

"I love video games," (Y/N) grinned. "Sure! Of course! I would love to!"

(Y/N) grinned as they watched Josuke trying to maneuver Sonic into the little pieces of the Sky Deck level. He wasn't kidding; this was the greatest that they had ever been feeling. Along the way, they were a bit comfortable to tell him about their friend troubles. Josuke didn't seem too happy at what (Y/N)'s friends were doing.

In fact, he was dead-set on giving them a piece of his mind.

"Can't believe that they'd do that to you," He grumbled. "Really. That's kind of a jerk thing of them to do."

"It's fine, Josuke-san," (Y/N) replied, looking down. "I can always find new friends. I've seen Yukako-san be very nice to me." They laughed. "Of course, I'm kinda jealous of Yukako-san. She's got Koichi and he's a pretty swell guy to be around."

"Well, Koichi's taken," Josuke shrugged before smirking. "But I'm not! In fact, I'm single!"

"...Eh," (Y/N) blinked before they gasped. "Oh my gosh! You mean...?!"

"Well, if you want to, that is."

"Yes."

"Eh?"

"Yes, Josuke," (Y/N) grinned before launching themselves at him. "Yes, I would love to!"

And you two couldn't be any happier.

Perhaps it’s his way of not seeing himself within you, knowing he used to be just as fearful and timid

He feels a strong duty to protect you the closer you get to him

At first, he uses you as merely a flesh shield lmao

We all know the story, he uses you for protection, although meek you were always considered a stronger type

And his one rule was to not fall for you: that was his number one rule

But of course that all goes to shit pretty quickly

On the topic of insecurities, he knows all too well the feelings you feel

It’s honestly a plus, having someone that just knows

He’s so stupidly in love with you, for a moment he thinks he’s going mad

He’s never met someone as reserved and soft-spoken as you, he thinks it’s great company

After all, opposites attract, right?

Gale:

Like Astarion, he actually is comforted by your shy and quiet nature

He’d much rather stay home in his tower at Waterdeep, away from society

For that is how he lived for quite some time

I’d say Gale is also rather reserved, only opening up to those he trusts

And it just so happens, he learned to trust you more than anyone

Ever since he told you about the orb that was launched into his chest, the way you insisted upon finding another way to save him

It sent his heart to the skies, I stg

Your shy personality is endearing to him, because if you ever need him to speak up for anything he is so willing

Also, in those moments where you have to interact with someone unknown or unfamiliar, he always offers his hand as comfort

Ugh I love that stupid wizard

Halsin:

I don’t think anyone will get mad at me if I say out of these three

Halsin is the best in the situation

Halsin is the best in most situations let’s be real

He’s the most calm and soothing when it comes to your personality

If you ever ever need to be taken somewhere else, if you’re ever too nervous to be around people

He simply excuses you and him both from whatever conversation or interaction is going on

Something that seems so difficult for you, is so easy for him

And he gladly does it each time

Halsin has a very keen eye, he knows every move you make, every fight of your fingers, every worried flutter of your eyes

He knows when and where to comfort every time

In terms of your insecurity, he’s also extremely helpful on that

If you attempt to go somewhere without him, even if it’s just to go to the restroom, he’ll threaten to sic Freddy on you to get you back

This is his default threat of making you do what he wants

Freddy would never hurt you, but the thing is that you don’t know that

For all you know, Freddy could tear you apart with one fell swoop

Gregory has been really lonely for a long time, and then you came along

He can’t just let you leave him alone again!

What kind of best friend would do that?

Not you, he knows that!

He sees you as a parent as well, holding your hand and sitting in your lap, snuggling in to feel your warmth and heartbeat
