GAME THEORY: the Johnsons are an Evil Family

during my rewatch of pnf, i have recently concocted the headcanon that the johnson family has a legacy of evil. you know, not like Evil-evil, but the dwampyverse brand of evil that exists more as a career path than a morality system. here's my reasoning for each member

suzy - self-explanatory. she's an evil prodigy and will have a lucrative career climbing up the lovemuffin corporate ladder when she gets older. she's even getting in some good nemesis experience with candace

hildegard - has an affinity for cheating in roller derby. has the personality for it. i also think she 100% views betty jo as her nemesis but betty jo doesn't know what that is.

hawkeye - okay her name is literally hawkeye which is a perfect evil name. she's also very proficient with munitions.

jack - besides jeremy, he seems the most unassuming, but maybe his job at the space lab grants him access to tech he couldn't otherwise use...

annabelle - when doof's (evil) building was being foreclosed, she showed a LOT of interest in it (new evil hq). she also loved the gargoyles (evil decor). AND she had a job in an anvil-hanging factory. who hangs anvils besides like bugs bunny or some shit? cartoon villains. extremely evil-coded activity

nicolette - yeah her stories about swimming with piranhas and other such activities are from a video game. but i think it would be really funny if that was just her cover story. she's actually doing all that shit and telling people its from tomb raider or something and shes stealing jewels as a hobby

jeremy - he's actually the black sheep of the family. he doesn't have an evil bone in his body. his mom and dad tried to get him interested in laser guns, scheming, and spike pits when he was little and it never stuck. but even though he'll never work in the family business, they love him anyway.

How the different nations of Teyvat celebrate your birthday

My birthday is today so it's fresh on my mind, so you get headcanons.

Every nation has a festival in your name on this special day, but how does each festival differ.

• Mondstadt

The nation of wind and freedom and also wine, you would think this would lead to mass celebratory drinking, while this is true for some, the more upstanding citizens set aside their glasses, even the drunkard god himself, he does have his own role to play in this festival after all.

The city is decorated with windwheel asters and the shops carry wreaths made from the flower as you expressed amazement when first seeing the specimen.

Across the day dandelion seeds are gathered by visitors and locals alike and when the stars start to shine in the night sky a strong gust of wind summoned by Barbatos himself comes to help them soar, and due to the elemental energy flowing through them, it's as if the sky gained new stars that night.

• Liyue

The nation of stone and commerce, much like the Lantern Rite signifying the new year, lanterns are released into the night sky, these lanterns however are filled with notes containing prayers, thanks, and many simply wishing you a happy birthday.

Many of the city's shopkeepers offer a portion of their earnings to you, jewelers on the other hand offer their finest gems, only the best will do for their creator after all.

In years past a dragon could be seen resting at the peak of Jueyun Karst on this special day, these days however the only notable difference is the occasional absence of one of the funeral parlor's employees, but that's probably just a coincidence.

Unfortunately, Xiao cannot celebrate today, at least not to the extent that the others can. While hilichurls, treasure hoarders, and even the Abyss Order dare not disturb the peace this day, nothing can stop the rogue programming of the ruin guards. However seeing how diligently you work through your vessels even during festivities, he holds a sense of pride knowing you'd be doing the same if you were here.

• Inazuma

The nation of lightning and eternity, during the vision hunt decree, today was celebrated secretly, not because the Shogun had a law against, no, she was actually saddened by how quiet the day was, but it was because every vision bearer she hadn't caught thought she'd use the festival to round them up. Now that the hunt is over however, the streets of Inazuma are busting more than ever.

Inazuma is definitely the most diverse in its celebration, with warriors wishing to honor you by displaying their skills, artists hoping to show you the beauty of their craft, and a grand fireworks show courtesy of Naganohara Fireworks.

The shrine maidens of both Narukami and Watatsumi are very busy this time of year, accepting a multitude of offerings and words of appreciation for the creator.

The Arataki gang hosts a multitude of attractions for the festival, poor Shinobu was left with the paper work and the gang gets a good earful the next day, but she decides, so long as they're not causing problems, the lectures can wait until tomorrow.

• Sumeru

The nation of dendro, knowledge, and wisdom. In the past the Akademyia sages would over see this momentous occasion, now that role goes to lesser lord Kusanali.

The city holds a showcase of each of the Akademyia's darshans, this showcase is filled with incredible flora and fauna, all harmless of course, mechanical marvels, and elemental beauty.

Aaru village may be small but they go all out for you, due to how small it is there is nothing truly of note, but due to the peace mentioned in Liyue's section, even the ever diligent Candace can enjoy a day of leisure and laughter, much to Dehya's delight.

• Abyss

Not much is known about the abyss but one thing is clear, like the rest of Teyvat, they have a strong sense of devotion, so this is the one day of the year they retreat back to their domain and the nations are left in peace, as for what they do on this day, that is yet another mystery.

• Misc.

While treasure hoarders are known for, well hoarding treasure, on this day they leave the innocent in peace and even turn in some of their stolen goods, not directly of course out of fear of being imprisoned, but they leave them near city gates.

The numerous hilichurl tribes hold feasts as they dance around their bonfires, to the untrained eye this seems like normal behavior, however one may notice the particular dance they do is distinctly different.

The bards and poets of the land may not have much to offer in material goods, but they hope you are satisfied with their songs and rhymes.

The Adventurer's Guild does their utmost in every city to see that each celebration goes of without a hitch, it may not be much, but it's all they can do without treating it like any other day.

They’ll never pull off the D. Wade/Gabby thing because one, D. Wade is a loving and PRESENT father and a charismatic and beloved player who consistently was good at what he did without a bunch of unnecessary BS on the court. And two, Gabby may not be A-list but she is up there so while a little scandal had people side-eyeing her in the past it wasn’t enough to have people turning against her. Plus she’s got a good personality, she’s funny and most importantly of all she’s got a good PR team.

i think we need to stop looking at patriarchy/white supremacy as a hierarchy of oppression, with one type of person always at the top and one type of person always at the bottom, and more a system of reward and punishment for how closely you conform to the white supremacist patriarchal ideal.

a white, able bodied, cishet, neurotypical, upper class man is the ideal. however - other types of people are rewarded for how well they play their part in the patriarchal worldview. a white woman can achieve some level of status by being the perfect homemaker, able bodied and neurotypical and cishet and producing white children for the patriarchy. look at the white supremacist memes that regard white women who fall into place as some jewel to be coveted! there’s a reason some white women enthusiastically participate in the patriarchy - because there are rewards for doing so. the white neurotypical cishet abled bodied nuclear family is sacred in white supremacy, and anyone falling outside of it is a threat.

everyone who is not white, jewish, trans, disabled in any way, queer, an immigrant, or working class can’t ever perform patriarchy and white supremacy in this way. they can try - look at Candace Owens and Caitlyn Jenner. they’re both trying their hardest to perform the roles rewarded by white supremacy - but they’ll still be kicked to the curb the instant they aren’t a useful strawman anymore. before then, though, they still benefit from patriarchy because they are performing the ��right’ roles, saying the ‘right’ things, attacking the ‘right’ people. they can’t do it forever, but theyll try.

this is also why being a right-wing pundit is so often a grift - because there are numerous rewards for doing so. they don’t genuinely believe half of what they say, but because the patriarchy rewards them for saying it theyll happily go along with it rather than doing what we should all be doing - dismantling white supremacy and patriarchy and removing this fucked up system that rewards some and punishes others based on how well you perform your role.

Diner owner Desi (Candace Cameron Bure) is facing the very real possibility of losing her business as the bills mount and she can’t afford to pay them. Considering selling her beloved cherry red Ford F-100, a gift from her late father, Desi decides to visit it one last time. Inside the truck she finds a cassette with a message from her father and he tells her to retrace her family’s most memorable moments. As she is about to set off on the trip, Desi meets Greyson (Eric Johnson), a man who asks for a ride in exchange for a generous payment. Is their meeting too good to be true?

Desi is tested by the arrival of Greyson. He wants to get to know her but she doesn’t, at least initially, feel a need to get to know him. As the two embark on their journey, calling at stops that are pivotal to Desi and her family, Desi’s walls begin to breakdown and she realises that maybe she’s allowed herself to become a little closed off since her father passed. The further Desi progresses in her mission, the more Greyson starts to admire her but the true reason for him being on the trip could ruin everything the two builds. I don’t want to say more than that as it would be too big a spoiler, but there’s a satisfying reveal that leads to a suitable and fulfilling conclusion.

‘A Christmas Less Traveled’ is perhaps the best showcase of what Great American Family, and Great American Christmas, has to offer. The film tells a life-affirming story that’s grounded in the everyday struggles that most viewers will be able to relate to. You feel empathy for Desi’s battle to keep her business and you sit beside her as she embarks on a life-changing journey. Like Desi though, you’ll be wary of Greyson and that’s part of the fun. Full of heart and traditional values, ‘A Christmas Less Traveled’ could end up being the jewel in the crown of this year’s slate of films.
