Recently had the Fates brainworms reawakened, so begins my redesigning of the royals and their retinue. I don't knoww if I'll get the the Hoshidans, but I have my eyes set on finishing the Nohrian sibs. Camilla and co are up next !

Arriving in a new country is always weird. You'd think with years across worlds and realms I'd stop being surprised, but there's always something new that gets me.

Getting here was shitty, that's for sure. Our hands and legs were bloody from the climb out of the canyon, though Owa-hm. Odin. Had somehow kept Mikoto spotless carried on his back, didn't have time to see if she was any damn grateful for it though. About a days trek northward, and the lack of settlements was strange. This war we were told about was recent, recent enough there should at least be remnants of fighting along the border if there'd been people, but there was nothing. Just craggy land, some sparse trees and dry vegetation.

The town we did reach answered little, some wooly pigs but no signs of larger livestock, not like there'd be much viable land to raise them on. There were a few jacks, with one's meat being smoked in the center, broken leg they'd said. Az managed to grab us some local clothing and a large cloak for us to share.

Going westward as we were told only made Nohr seem more bleak. There was little farmable land, Nagas tits it was cold, and the woods, full of smaller game and wild boar, were vast and easy to get lost in (His Most Darkest Majesty or whatever rambled something about dark spirits, who knows). With the weather unpredictable as it was we managed to get a mule, in case we wouldn't be able to hunt during a storm. Bred from city stock, the seller'd said, which was surprising. So far we'd heard it only gets harsher towards the capital, no space for horses.

Passed by manors and minor lord's retinues, the people seem well trained, it's becoming clear what Mikoto meant when she spoke about Nohrians being a fearsome people. Living in these conditions makes them hardy, and the commons seem like one of those uncaring for social niceties.

There's a tournement being held in the capital, a merc on the road told us. I didn't get his name. Heading the same way he is; held by the royal family and a way to win a hiring near the castle. Lent us a spot in his wagon for the rest of the way, which is nice I suppose. Even got us a portion of smoked boar.

Az-Laslow, kept the conversation up for the ride. The mercs horse is Hlenni, got the right to keep her after he earned his parents land back in the south. Wealthy family from the sound of it. Been training her for battle, wants to serve the crown on the frontlines, take hoshidan land for his servants.

Cavalry's a lords 'right', apparently. Stories of fearless charges, many a tale of man and horse being as one like brothers. Odins giving him advice now, as if he's going to last 15 minutes in a real fight, but it's not my job to stop him.

I'm not sure what I was expecting once the treeline broke after another few days, but it certaintly wasn't this. The forest just ended, made more obvious with a line of burnt trees and ash and grey ground. For a minute I thought we'd been tricked and he'd taken us to some sort of prison, though Lazlow held me back before I could react. Standing on the side of the cart all we could see for leagues was dead ground, ash filled the air and in the distance dragonets circled an armored fortress, giant iron spikes protruding from what looked like a fucking cratered volcano. Odin was stunned for words for a moment, I think he felt out darkness-ed, the idiot.

My hand was on my hilt the entire way across the expanse, paths we could see leading to the 'city'. Other wagons pulled by horses meandering their way in and out which, seriously, where are they keeping these things?

I muttered as much to Laslow, and the bastard just winked at me, like he'd heard something he hadn't told us from our last stop. The security at the gate was impressive, the guards and city clearly expected attacks. Took about an hour to get through, winding in a tunnel built into the wall, a slow slope felt, definitively downwards but gentle enough for the animals comfort.

After the third inner gate, I was stuck in awe, as I always seem to be, at this new city. Laz ended up pulling on my arm to get moving. Laughing at me, probably. Asshole.

Didn't hear him though. Standing in front of us, nestled in this fucking volcano, was Krakenburg. An obsidian palace loomed in the center, held by pillars and connected to the upper layers with massive bridges. Below it we could see what seemed a district of rich and intricately designed mansions, connected to barracks and fortifications, and then...

Ah. There. A carved layer of miles of fertile land filled with grazing cattle and horses. I couldn't make out far enough, but it seemed expanded on the natural tiered interior structure of the volcano. I could also make out what appeared to be the bulk of the city stepped underneath, presumabely hiding the slums and and prisons even lower. Didn't have time to look further, we'd arrived where we'd be staying. The others laughter filled the background, and kept me warm against the harsh chill of the capitol.

Princess Camilla. Eldest daughter, Wyvern Sister, Scourge of the Western Plains, and fucking 8 foot tall smokestack. That's who I landed in service to. Not sure if I should be jealous of the others royals, Lord Xander seems like a stubborn pain to deal with, and Lord Leo distrusts any air breathed near him. But we're here now, one step closer to finding Corrin. Camilla at least is quick to gush about her family, so we know she's being held in a fortress to the north.

I've been sent to have Beruka, my new coworker, show me the ins and outs of the barracks and stables. I'm honestly having trouble figuring out how they created this place. Especially how they keep these animals healthy. Even with the pastures they must've adapted to live well without sunlight.

Most of the horses seem to be small, fleet footed things. Heavier than I thought they'd be, hurt like a bitch if they charged you. Most, I say, because I'm introduced to the Lady's riding horse, Ótr, who, matching the towering royals, must be 20 hands at the whithers. Ótr's breath felt like a stove in front of my face, and a brush was placed in my hand. I remember briefly hearing the crown prince was a renowned cavalier.

Leaning against your desk, you’re looking out at another rainy day. Thankful that you keep a pair of rain boots in your office and at home. You’re thinking of last month and last week, how you’ve lied to Javier and yourself. It’s for the best though. 

Large drops remain on the window as the sound of the water falling intensifies. Last month you had finally worked up the, well with a shot or two of liquid courage to tell him. Tell Javier Peña that “yeah, we’re friends Javi but I want more from you. Have wanted more from you. I could make you happy, because I know you. We know each other. I can give you something simple, a life together.” One of your favorite dresses, your deep violet one that had the open shoulders you liked. Pretty and not too sexy you felt, just right.

Nothing was right that night. He walked in with a woman you were pretty sure was at least ten years younger than him or maybe she had excellent skincare and always used sunscreen. His hand looked perfect on her waist and so did hers on his. He introduced her to you as his girlfriend of the last six months. You’d heard him mention someone but didn’t think it was the same person. Was she the one that had large mood swings? Javier would never admit it but you know he craves a bit of drama. Something you rarely have any of. Dinner was nice at the bar. She seemed nice. Neither of them stopped smiling nearly the entire night. 

The only silver lining is that you live on a lower floor than Javier so you don’t hear that. You’d go insane if you heard them doing that. You’ve heard the rumors and have gotten the sense (though given your feelings you could be biased. Highly doubtful,) that most of them are true.

That night you went home by yourself, threw off your dress and flopped across the bed. You weren’t sure if the rain came down first or your tears but you do know that you cried yourself to sleep and woke up cold. 

That was last month. Now they’ve been together for seven months.

This week at work you were legitimately busy given that the ambassador you work for has decided to drive drunk and hit a lamppost, damn idiot. Of course he wants to use his diplomatic immunity and the policia would like to make an example out of him. Negotiations are led by you as you represent the embassy. Javier was able to catch you one day, say hello, how are you and ask what you thought of Camilla. Her name is even pretty, like her. She was polite and complimented your dress that night. Nothing bad to say about the woman except she exists or is doing so next to Javi.

You lied right to your friend’s face and told him that you like her, she seemed very sweet, that you three should go out for drinks and that she’s beautiful. The last one wasn’t a lie, she was stunning. The rest of it you’re still unsure how you made it all drop from your mouth so easily. His eyes light up and Javier says something that is as honeyed as it is a stab, “I’m glad you like her. I was worried you might not and then I’d have to wonder if she’s really right for me. You’re the best ángel.” You think you smiled and gave him a hug before going back to dealing with the ambassador issue. It’s a blur. Getting back to your office and stopping yourself from yelling took priority over before getting back on the phone about this drunkard’s problem which is yours.

Finally into the next week, you’ve settled the dispute between the policia and the ambassador. He’s required to pay for the damage and a substantial amount of money to the city of Bogata with a suitable donation to the policía as well. You should have left a few hours ago, but then you might have run into Javier on your way out. You need to steady yourself before seeing him. ‘Just act like I did two months ago. It will be fine.’ That’s what you tell yourself but you know your body will betray you when you see him. You feel the melancholy and longing again. 

The gray skies match your mood. Subdued. Drippy. Unsettled. Foreboding. Closing your eyes, you feel them fall against your cheek again, the tears rolling down. Twisting your body to reach for the tissue box you now keep on your desk, you pat your eyes to see Javier Peña in the middle of your office.

“Hey amiga, qué paso? (friend, what’s up?) You’re crying.” It’s kind that he asks, Javier is always kind. Before you can tell him you’re fine, he’s got an arm around you and kisses your forehead. “What’s wrong?” You won’t tell him why, he’s happy and you know he deserves it. Given the small pieces of how he came to be at the embassy. Broad strokes and rumors are what you know. Javier doesn’t talk about his time in Columbia or pursuing the Cali cartel. When it’s mentioned his face hardens, letting people know to change the subject.

“Just a tough day today, that's all Javi. Thanks.” Your head leans against his chest, breathing in his scent. Keeping your hands around the tissue you’d been dabbing your eyes with. A thought you immediately regret enters your mind:

Could she be an angel in disguise and leave him broken on a rainy day such as this? Maybe Javier would be standing out in the rain? Could you take him against your chest like he’s doing with you now?

No. It wouldn’t be the same. Javier is being a sincere friend to you right now. You would have an ulterior motive. 

A few more tears fall across your cheeks as a gust of wind blows the rain loudly against your window. Even the sky is scolding you:

Cypress' TLT Fic Recs (October '24)

Aight. I've never made a rec list before but imma give it a try. No ratings, just praise. No, it's not just halloween/fall themed stuff, that just happens to be what month it is right now lol. Visit the whole list on Ao3: here (link to the bookmarker tag).

I have a few categories for you! Something Hot, Something Long, and Something Still Going.

These are from a variety of years and sizes. Most of them are Griddlehark, but I sprinkled some other pairings in like salt bae.

Next time I'll give something a little more organized and varied. Probably.

First category: Something Hot

Hungry Like the Wolf by Slaycinder - GriddleHark (2 chapters, approx. 13k words) There's two tags that stuck out to me, upon first glance. These were: Local Woman Nearly Dies for the Vussy: Says it Was Quote "Worth It", and Unrelated: have you ever seen needlessly badass artwork of wolves and naked women? I think these two tags do, indeed, sum up what happens quite well. Very hot. Gave me those very special spine tinglies that once upon a time told me that I do in fact like women, vampires, and werewolves. You are never gonna guess what three things this fic has.

Between the Lines by Rohad - Griddlehark (8 chapters, approx. 30k) A modern AU: a stunning look into the life of editor Harrowhark Nonagesimus. She's been assigned to work with one of her publisher's favorite little meow meows, Gideon Nav (an erotic fiction author) (who Harrow hates) (even though they've only ever spoken via email). Harrow accompanies the awful horrible Nav to a few conventions for book signings. This one, in as much as I've tagged it as belonging to the "Something Hot" category, is honestly packed full of feels as well. Harrow and Gideon have to learn how to communicate effectively, and how to interact respectfully, and they learn a lot about each other as well. Rohad's reworking of their respective backstories to fit into the modern day has me FLOORED.

I am a conversation by sluggg - PaulDve (1 chapter, approx. 5k) This work caught my eye with the tag Paul stop quoting Steven Universe it is making everyone uncomfortable and honestly I probably wouldn't have noticed the quotes if I hadn't then actively been looking. Sluggg fits them in just perfectly. There are a precious few Paul/Pyrrha works (and they are ALL bangers actually) and this is for sure one of my favorites.

put some goddamn moves on you (god knows you need it) by hoteyedwraith - CamPal (2 chapters, approx. 23k) This one has a very simple premise, but it really hits home for me. I can relate to Camilla in this modern AU in a very real way, and it felt very very good to reach the end of this work and see the metaphorical light at the end of the tunnel. Cam has a bit of an issue, but she doesn't know what the problem is. But it is fixable, and Palamedes lends a hand.

If you've noticed a theme so far, yes. I like my horny with a pinch of sad. What are you gonna do about it.

The Process of Elimination by zoicite - GriddleHark (8 chapters, approx. 122k) That Regency AU from HtN! The two tags I would like to highlight are; Season 1 of The Bachelorette: Canaan House and Fake/Pretend Relationship. It is probably a general fanfic staple that every pairing MUST have at least one fic where they pretend to be in love and then slowly fall in love for real. It's a classic, and it never fucking gets old. I stayed up til about 4am reading this for three nights in a row. I'm not a slow reader, by any means, but this one hits different after 10pm honestly (when my emotions are at their easiest to sway) and if you can handle that sort of sleep gymnastics (and you brain works similarly) I would recommend giving that a try.

Cataclysmic Variable Star by Elldritch - GriddleHark (101 chapters, 190k exactly) I stayed up reading this one until I passed out about an hour before my alarm went off. I DO NOT RECOMMEND DOING THAT. This one, you want to have full command of your faculties because this one will make you think. It is a Harrow Nova AU rewriting of GtN and HtN (written before NtN released!) and is a beautiful piece of literature. You want a full night of sleep before grabbing this one by the reins! It is fabulously put together, drawing everything that needs to happen from each of its sources, but with a twist at each turn that you certainly won't see coming.

orbits, eccentric, on course for collision by Stacicity - DiosApate (9 chapters, approx. 76k) The timeline of HtN as told by Augustine Quinque. I might have gone slightly insane and left 800+ word comments on each chapter, which goes to show just how invested I have been in this. Looking at that word count, you might go "Huh. That's not that much, Cy. That's less than half the size of the last one." You would technically be right. But the way with which Augustine perceives time might change how you feel about that. Even if you aren't writing whole essays in the comment section, this one goes by slower somehow. I recommend pulling it up and then having an extra tab open to look up a few of these words in a dictionary. Stacicity has (correctly) decided that Augustine would use a lot of high-level words. This is, frankly, above my reading level (/joke).

Third category: Something Still Going

God Is Dog Spelled Backwards by labyrinthineRetribution - GriddleHark (more than 8k) As of writing this list, this work has 2 chapters. The plot has just gotten started, and I'm intrigued. This title stands out from the crowd in terms of the way it handles the setting (modern AU, somewhere in Aotearoa). Gideon really is the saddest girl in the world, I think, in a very complicated sort of way. I will wait patiently for as long as it takes to see this story develop.

OTD 13 years ago, a pre-wedding reception was held for the wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. While the bride and groom didn’t attend, the event was attended by members of the British royal family as well as foreign royals.

The royals did bring out a few nice pieces of jewellery so let’s take a look at them.

Starting off with The Queen, she wore a matching gold and diamond earring and necklace set, reportedly given to her by King Hassan II of Morocco in the 1980s.

Camilla chose some of her favourite pearl pieces for the reception including her four strand pearl choker and a five strand pearl bracelet.

Sophie wore a borrowed earring and necklace set containing white and yellow diamonds from Collins and Sons. The necklace is a stunning necklace that works so well with this outfit.

Both the Duchess of Gloucester and Princess Alexandra opted for emeralds and pearls for the event. With the Duchess of Gloucester choosing to wear earrings and a necklace from the emerald and pearl set of jewels that belonged to her late mother-in-law, Princess Alice, while Princess Alexandra wore her pearl choker with the emerald and diamond clasp, as well as an emerald ring.

A final mention goes to Princess Michael of Kent who wore a pair of diamond topaz earrings and a large diamond and topaz brooch with a pearl pendant. The topaz in the brooch is a stunning colour and the brown of the gown under it really lets it stand out.

Garret would be crushed, but elated that despite the amnesia your emotions managed to shine through the dark haze. He would accept this new reality surprisingly well. He'd take his time showing you all of the reasons why you fell in love with him in the first place, and savour your reactions as you fell for him all over again.

Marcelo would actually shed a few tears. The thought of you forgetting everything, but remembering your feelings for him would be too much for him to bare. Of course he'd turn his back to you, far too embarrassed to let you see just how deeply your words impacted him. Once he did compose himself he'd turn towards you once more, offer you a tearful smile, and reassure you that he'll help you regain your memories.

Camilla would be stunned by the dramatic turn of events. though she would be touched by your lingering emotions. She'd do her best to keep her tone casual and upbeat as she changed the topic, not wanting to guilt you in anyway. Though she would become fiercely protective of you whenever people got frustrated with your amnesia or overwhelmed you with information. She'd focus on helping you heal and feel comfortable in your life rather than trying to immediately restore your memories.

Rita would offer you a tearfully wistful smile and gently agree with you. She'd mention that you were both very important to one another, and she'll always be there for you, even if you didn't return her feelings. She'd honestly answer any questions you had for her, however she would never bring up your previous relationship unless you asked about it. She'll always love you, however she doesn't want to force her feelings onto you.

Teagan would be incredibly upset. Honestly the only thing keeping them from throwing a fit then and there was the fact that you remembered the feelings you had for them. If you had forgiven them and got back with them after the initial break up, they'd insist on immediately trying to regain your memory, pulling up all sorts of photos, videos, and text conversations. Though they would conveniently leave out the break you took from one another.

If you hadn't gotten back together after the break up, they'd take this golden opportunity to start fresh and twist your past to make it seem as though you never broke up in the first place.

Question: Did Harry ask King Charles to pay for his divorce?

Note: I am doing this reading with all the cards in the deck in an upright position, so no reversals.

Interpretation: Harry definitely asked for money, in what King Charles saw as a very aggressive way

Card One: The Chariot

This is very interesting. It is a major arcana card, so this is a big issue for Harry. Financially, the Chariot card means being determined to achieve your financial goals, to overcome obstacles to achieve your gaols. That tells me that Harry is determined to get enough money to do what he wants, and as per the question above that is to divorce Meghan (we are assuming a divorce is happening - I haven't checked that energy).

However, the Chariot card is the card for the sign of Cancer, the sun sign of Prince William, Queen Camilla, and Princess Diana. I am wondering if Harry did one of the following: asked Prince William to pay for his divorce, asked his father to get the money from Prince William to pay for his divorce, or thought that his father could still take money from the Duchy of Cornwall to pay for his divorce.

When I asked the question and shuffled the cards, I was looking at the question from King Charles's energy, because I could not handle any more Harry energy. The energy I picked up from King Charles was indignation, shock/surprise, and disbelief - a 'how could he even ask this' energy. Along with that was an energy that said the amount asked was too much - King Charles could not afford to pay it.

The energy of this card, the Chariot, is of someone trying to force an acceptance of their request - to bulldoze or railroad people to get what they want. If Harry did ask the King to pay for his divorce - and he definitely asked for money for something - then from the King's perspective he was not prepared to take no for an answer and he was prepared to squash any objection King Charles had until he got what he wanted. It is the 'running over obstacles' energy of the Chariot card on steroids - a very focused and aggressive energy that will not take No for an answer.

If Harry has any money left in trust for him from his mother, this could also indicate that he wanted that money released to him then and there.

Card Two: The Fool

The Fool is the card of a new beginning, a fresh start. it can also mean that someone is doing something that is foolish, or that they are somewhat naïve in their expectations. I get all three of these energies from this card. This is how the King saw Harry after Harry made his request.

The energy of a fresh start confirms that the King saw the request as Harry wanting to start over somewhere, and he needed money to do this. The fresh start could very be a divorce or a new beginning in another country.

The energy of being naïve is how the King saw Harry. Harry has spent the last few years saying horrible things about his family, his father, and the institution his father has supported for a lifetime (the monarchy) and now he expects his father to pay up so he can go and have a fresh start somewhere. The mind boggles, it really does and I think the King was both stunned at his son's effrontery and indignant at the request.

The energy of being foolish ties into the energy above, with Harry thinking he can just ask for money and it will appear, as if his father was a never ending money tree. I am getting the energy of people (advisors?) being in a state of disbelief that Harry would just contact the BRF (somehow, however that works nowadays) and brazenly ask for them for money to give him a fresh start somewhere else. No bargaining, no cutting down of demands - just give my wife everything she is asking for and give me enough to start over in luxury, and I won't take No for an answer.

Card Three: The Eight of Pentacles

The Eight of Pentacles is the card of hard work, of mastery, of honing your skills and earning enough money for your own needs. This echoes King Charles's rumoured reply to Harry - basically, earn the money yourself, I'm not giving it to you. The Eight of Pentacles also indicates that Harry asked for a pretty hefty amount of money - 8 out of the 10 pentacles in the tarot deck.

This card could, just possibly, mean that King Charles is making Harry work for the money, i.e. Harry was given a list of things to do/restrictions to follow as once he had done that, then the money discussion could happen again. The energy of the card is of hard work, but I'm not getting anything on the context of the work (Harry working for himself or Harry following orders - 'working' - for the King). I would say it is the former (Harry being told to earn the money himself), but I haven't entirely closed off some form of the latter situation either (I'm 97% on the former and 3% on the latter). Time will tell, as always.

Underlying Energy: The Seven of Pentacles.

The Seven of Pentacles is the card of reaping what you sow. You are looking at where you put your resources and deciding which ventures are bearing fruit and which ones need to be discarded. It is a card of long term harvest and investing in the future.

In this deck, it is also my card for dodgy sex acts and turning away from your true master towards another allegiance.

The energy coming from this card, quite strongly, is that of dodgy sex acts. I don't know what and I don't know with whom, but dodgy sex acts are involved in this somehow and are at the root of Harry's desperation for money. He could even be asking for money to cover up some dodgy sex acts by himself and/or his wife - that would fit the energy of the 'fresh start' from the Fool card as well.

The other energy I get from this card is about the amount of money asked for. The Seven of Pentacles says that 7 Pentacles would cover everything quite nicely, but Harry didn't ask for seven, he asked for more - eight pentacles. So this tells me that Harry was greedy in his request for money and asked for more than was necessary to cover the situation.

Conclusion:

Harry definitely asked for money, and a hefty amount at that, more than he would need to cover the situation he is involved in. He was determined to get the money and he was not going to take No for an answer. He may have asked Prince William to pay for him or asked his father to take the money from the Duchy of Cornwall for him, and/or he may have asked for any money from his mother to be given to him (if any such money exists). He wanted the money for a fresh start of some sort - a divorce, to cover up something dodgy in the sex area, for one or both of them to move to another country - something that would give him a new start somewhere. He foolishly and rather naively believed that his past behaviour did not matter and he could force the King into handing over the hefty sum of money he wanted.

The answer from the King was that Harry would have to work for the money. The King was not hanging out bags of cash to Harry, he would have to earn the money for himself (this could be through this own money making efforts or, just barely, by following restrictions that the King laid on him before any cash would be handed over). I am pretty sure that response went down like a lead balloon with Harry.

Underlying Harry's request is dodgy sex energy. I have no idea what or who or any other details, but something dodgy/shady/revolting about sex is in there somewhere.

Confirmation Card:

I drew a confirmation card for the question "Did Harry ask King Charles to pay for his divorce?" and I got the Page of Pentacles, which is the earth sign child (Harry) sending a message (Pages are messengers) about money (Pentacles), so that tells me the answer is yes. The Page of Pentacles is also my card for the UK, indicating that Harry certainly thought the UK/the sovereign grant/the taxpayers/the King could cough up the money for the King to pay him what he wanted.

Coronation Jewels

Even though there were no tiaras for the coronation of King Charles III, there were still plenty of stunning jewels on display. Here are my favorite jewelry looks.

Queen Camilla of the United Kingdom

Queen Camilla wore an altered version of Queen Mary's Crown with Queen Victoria's Coronation Necklace. I can't quite tell which earrings she's wearing but they are not Queen Victoria's Coronation Earrings. Overall she didn't wear as much jewelry as I was hoping for but she looked wonderful so it was probably the right choice.

Queen Suthida of Thailand

Queen Suthida wore Queen Sirikit's Sapphire Suite that contains beautiful and absolutely massive sapphires. She also wore the Nine Gems Belt which is meant to bring good luck to the wearer.

Queen 'Masenate of Lesotho

I wish we had a better look at Queen 'Masenate's necklace with mysterious blue gemstones. It's stunning and seems familiar but I can't place it.

Queen Sibonelo LaMbikiza of Eswatini

I also want a better look at Queen Sibonelo's big diamond necklace. It looks like there are a row of rubies along the outer edge. Update: I found a better picture!

Queen Azizah of Malaysia

Queen Azizah looked lovely with her diamond fringe necklace and multiple brooches.

Queen Máxima of the Netherlands

Queen Máxima took the no tiaras dress code personally and wore the biggest diamonds she could. Her earrings are made from the large diamonds of the Stuart Tiara and she wore another big diamond on her belt from a stomacher that belonged to Queen Emma.

Princess Eugenie of York

Princess Eugenie debuted the Albemarle High Jewellery Diamond Collar Necklace and Earrings by Garrard. I would not be surprised if they were a loan because together they cost $162,000.

Queen Letizia of Spain

Queen Letizia also wore big diamonds with the Queen Ena's Diamond Earrings from the Joyas de Pasar.

Crown Princess Mary of Denmark

Crown Princess Mary debuted slightly simplified forms of the turquoise jewels given to her by Queen Margrethe last year for her 50th birthday. The jewels are Danish royal heirlooms and even if they weren't already adaptable I'm sure they can still be worn in their previous forms and knowing Mary maybe even a few more.

I saw Sarah Chatto and Camilla's wedding outfits in the Victoria and Albert museum's wedding exhibition in the mid-2010s.

There are no words that can convey how exquisite Sarah's wedding dress looked in person. Every details was amazing. Accessories too. Also, if measurements of the dress are accurate, she's really tiny. Height and width. The corseted waist was so tiny. Being so plain without any fussy details, it was exquisitely tailored to perfection. 

Camilla's dress was stunning too, but not as blow your mind exquisite as Sarah's dress. I was surprised by the measurements' implications about Camilla's height and size. I think I'm so used to knowing that Diana was 5ft 10in and equal to or taller than Charles, and I simply assumed that Camilla is fairly short by comparison. She may not be 5ft 10in, but her wedding dress looked like one for someone in the 5ft 7-8in range which surprised me.

The only two wedding dresses that were shockingly bad were the ones I most looked forward to seeing. Kate Moss and Gwen Stefani. Both John Galliano for Dior. They looked amazing photographed in Vogue and other media and shockingly bad in reality. 

Kate's dress was made from layers of very course netting and the yellowy colour of the netting + gold colour of the sequins sewn throughout made it look simultaneously dirty AND like white cloth that's been in a damp attic and is stained and faded by dirt and mold. 

Gwen's dress was mostly creamish calico with lace up bits like you have on old school corsets while the pink parts of it looked like a mistake as if someone had accidentally dropped a white dress in a vat of red colour and tried to rinse it out. Most of the edges were frayed and unfinished. And it looked like the before model you create out of calico before you create the real deal out of expensive fabric. 

Infact, both dresses had frayed and unfinished edges. I still can't believe that this was intentional. 

The other dress that more than lived upto expectation was Dita Von Teese's purple Vivienne Westwood for her marriage to Marilynn Manson. Perhaps it was the way it was set up, on it's own dias away from all the other dresses, spotlight from all sides. It was OTT drama, exquisitely executed. Close up you could see the skill in how it was made, the richness of the fabric and purple colour, how it was cut and finished to perfection. It looked like a dream and it exceeded all expectation. The media photos of it made it look like it was too much and it was too much in reality and yet there was a lightness of touch too it where you could see how well it worked as a dress.
