I like to imagine that around the same time that Callum was going through the whole “Dear Callum.” Thing “Changing of The Guard” was happening

So while Callum was entering stages of grief previously unknown to man at the bottom of Viren’s old dungeon Soren was cheering in victory arms wrapped around Corvus at the top of the castle
