this scene makes me think a lot. we know lady is deity-like and lady funny enough isn't actually canon to ttte so there's already the thought of like. do engines have deities? is she a concept? if so, what of to the engines? freedom? free will? safety? but also rusty being here, except rusty is canon to ttte- but in thomas' dream, rusty is here working together with lady- so is rusty also an engine deity? a concept? iirc skarloey and rheneas thought he was a gift for how useful and cheery he was- so is rusty an engine deity? this would be really funny if he was like a diesel engine deity though because he does exist in canon but (at least to this point) has had little to no interactions with standard gauge diesel engines

Perhaps a Hot Take: I don't have anything against JayVik as a ship, but the amount of people in the fandom who use it as an opportunity to be openly racist and misogynistic towards Mel and Sky, and to feminize/infantilize Viktor as a disabled man make it REALLY hard to enjoy

I don't like that the dev community picks on people who are most fluent in Python, when the ChatGPT-using "vibe coders" are right there. At least Python babies are coding. Bully the non-coders instead.

I've joked with my partner about Ri Kusuriuri and his "customer service face" (his grumpy little not-quite scowl that is trying very hard to be neutral sometimes) and his horrible customer service job.

But then I realized... That's exactly what it is. The Medicine Sellers are spiritual tech support, the Exorcism Swords are very persnickety troubleshooting devices that require a detailed and accurate description of the problem before they can enact a solution.

And like any customer service/tech support job, the biggest obstacle is the people having the problem in the first place. Being cagey about what they did wrong or giving bad info because they don't fully understand the situation.

So what I'm saying here is:

A) If you've never worked a customer service job but you've watched Mononoke (particularly the series), it's kinda like that.

B) We need fanart of Ri and Kon in tech-support headsets talking the other characters through diagnosing their mononoke problem.

Something really just. Nice that I noticed with the bros is that each of them has shown off some pretty interesting skills.

Raph is the one who fixes April’s ceiling fan for her, Mikey takes on half the work when making the new puppy rescue for Todd, and Leo is outright able to reprogram Shelldon’s AI (he messed up, but the fact he was able to do this at all is like??? Raph and Mikey were there too did they know Leo could do that because they were not surprised-)

Of course, this is nothing compared to Donnie’s own immense talent and skill for inventing and science in general, but it shows that the others are not incapable of assisting in his field if need be.

What I like to think with all of this is that they listened to and likely helped with Donnie’s various ideas growing up. Sure they may not get the specifics, and complex science talk goes right over their heads, but in a pinch they’d be able to get Donnie the right tool or set a wire back in place. It’s not as necessary now that Donnie is much more independent when he makes things, but it’s cute to imagine there being a time where the others had to pitch in and learned some stuff because of it.

I love when the leverage team gets real fucked up with their cons! Just watched the first contact job, making the man think he was talking to aliens was already a wild choice but halfway through they just pivoted to driving him insane. Had him fully believing ET killed two people right in front of him and was gunning for him next. Screaming "I saw you die! You said they probed you!" in the middle of his press conference. This is the best show ever made!
