To celebrate the 125th Philippine Independence Day, we're giving you some of the classic Pinoy music videos from the golden era of Original Pilipino Music (OPM).

“Magbalik” is arguably the band’s biggest song, and its guitar intro is perhaps one of the most unmistakable in all of modern OPM. 

The band breaks down the track and lets us in on how exactly their hit song was made, from a fateful jeepney ride (where drummer Lemuel Belaro first thought of the chorus, based on a letter) and a late-night songwriting session, to romantic entanglements and input from a left-handed guitar player. Former lead guitarist Alden Acosta explains how the song has an “intro before the intro,” and that it has a similar pattern to their debut single “Stars” with a different rhythm and key.

Calla Lily.

These were taken hand-held while out walking around the old neighborhood. Early 2008. Canon S3IS. A great little camera with awesome zoom and macro capability.

The old 'hood got its start around 1955, so there were a lot of established plantings in yards and plenty of opportunity for botanical shots in the 28 years that we lived there.

I got a coupla' years use out of this camera, then gave it to my sister. She still has it.
