Today is International Haiku Poetry Day.

As such, I would like to share one of my favorite haikus.

—----------------------------------------------—

I have seen the blooming of wildflowers all over town and along streets and highways. This is a result of rains brought by the string of winter storms after years of drought. In other parts, superblooms are happening.

Hundreds of seeds that have laid dormant for so long, may finally sprout. The sights are beautiful.

In the last eight years or so -- which means it's not just COVID-related issues -- I've lost my favorite local coffee house, my favorite local bookstore, my favorite local quirky restaurant, AND my favorite local Irish pub with the 1916 Easter Rising mural, and now I'm about to lose my favorite local secondhand clothing shop. 😭

#pretty much all of them have to do with an inability to pay the sharply rising cost of rent in this area #the clothing store owner is an 80yo woman who never remembers me lmao but she's very nice and has excellent fashion taste #the bookstore employees actually wanted to collectively buy the business from the owner but the owner said no #because he also owned the building and thought he could make more by renting it out to another business #joke's on him the place has been empty for several years now since he killed his own bookstore SUCK MY DICK MOTHERFUCKER #not unrelatedly now that my dad has officially inherited the house from my late grandmother the county has reappraised the property #and we're anxiously waiting for confirmation of the annual tax to see if we can pay it :/ two attorneys have told us to expect #an increase of like 8-12k/year 😭 and yet california's democratic supermajority failed to pass rent caps 🤡💀#hound barks

My first election I get to vote in and I’m so emotionally drained already. Opened instagram and clicked on an infographic (because I hate myself) and all the comments were talking about how we need to vote green even if it doesn’t work because it will solidify ranked choice voting. And also how if you vote blue you’re the reason that the two- party exists! I hate it here.

#and a good half of them admitted they were from California so that’s why they’re okay not voting blue #very cool!! maybe don’t moral police the rest of us then??#I’m from a blue state as well but like. I’m in a swing county and let me tell you times are getting pretty fucking trying #very hard to be online when people act like the only policies on the ballots are Palestine and some nebulous ‘lgbtq rights’#have you guys seen the ads??? do you see the shit they want to do to immigrants??#the incarcerated? and the fact that the Supreme Court is on the line?#moral policing is so out of touch imo it makes me feel actually fucking crazy

it was once observed by a dear friend that the hours in which i am most alert are like 7pm to 2am which probably explains a lot about how my posts get worse throughout the evening. but also sometimes i look at today where i was just sort of gnawing the couch all day until about 5pm when i wrote an entire fic in two hours and then another entire post about kaapo which to be clear took another two hours bc i had to chase links and explain my passions in a kind way and this was in addition to a church meeting. i would excel as the person who lights and then extinguishes lamps in the night

#this morning my therapist was like your eyes are red what's going on #and i said bro i am not on drugs. it is cold and dry in my apartment and i was standing in front of a sad lamp #and they said ah. a sun lamp. i see #YES. BC I AM NOT A MORNING PERSON AND I AM BEING PUNISHED BY CAPITALISM TO GO TO THERAPY AT 10 IN THE MORNING #INSTEAD OF 6PM WHEN I WOULD BE ABLE TO HOLD A CONVERSATION BETTER #i think they think i am abusing substances. human the reason i am the way i am bc i am not abusing substances #i am rawdogging reality in almost every way and i HATE it. i am experiencing a full of range of emotions in real life!!#one good thing about today i must say. i looked in the mirror and went oh wow my california hair stylist did a good job!#my california hair stylist was good at cutting my hair in that she was filipina and understood how to cut filipino hair #she was not good at cutting my hair in that she would get too deep in explaining warriors drama and get distracted while cutting my hair #and up doing something absolutely wacko that made me look like a pepe frog guy bc she was too amped up about klay and steph #and then i'd be stuck with fucking alt right hair for a good three weeks and my only saving grace is how i look ambiguously ethnic #BUT when i saw her last i was like i need you to give me a haircut where if i can't get my hair cut for four months i don't #look stupid as hell. and she said oh yeah i can do that. and gave me a blow by blow of klay and steph's divorce while cutting my hair #and i was fearing for my life. but now that it has grown out pretty significantly i will say she did a very good job of cutting it #unlike every other time i grew out my hair in a big way and it looked incredibly stupid for several months until it evened out #but she cut it so it looks like my hair is on purpose. which i appreciate!#now i have more time to decide if i want to avenge bo bichette and grow out my hair again #without feeling stressed about looking incredible stupid and unkempt #thank you nicole...a true ally...i will never forget how much you hate kevin durant even though you stressed me out so bad...#and you may be wondering why if she gave me that many bad hair cuts why i'd keep going to her #and the answer is: bc i only want my warriors and 49ers news to be reported by an energetic filipina lesbian holding razor on my neck #and unfortunately the local newspaper beats just can't replicate that experience #fresno oilers.txt

This was an "interesting" exhibit. A canebreak rattlesnake, a southern copperhead, and an eastern rat snake all cohabitated at the California Academy of Sciences.

I realize they're in an educational facility and these snakes have overlapping habitats, but I didn't see many places for them to get away from each other and I wasn't impressed by the enclosure size or decor.

This display gave me an uneasy feeling. Hopefully I'm just wrong.

"raza" is actually referring to the coming american race (the cosmic race, some might say)

#they just don't know it yet #50 years from now you'll have totally white/anglo looking people #with hispanic last names #who have a technically legitimate claim to being part of the “raza”#just look at intermarriage rates between whites and latinos #i suspect within the next hundred years mestizos will basically be looked at as #america's equivalent of southern europeans #also i don't know how it is in other parts of the country #but here in california there's also a pretty significant number of eurasians/hapas #they're interesting -- i think they are an underdiscussed part of the coming american race #they are frequently high iq and high achieving and part of the elite class #and they seem to be welcomed as “white americans” pretty seamlessly #for the most part anyway -- of course i've heard stories of some really racist white people that don't accept them #but even my hometown has a very white-eurasian upper class #lol one of my last “crushes” was this hapa girl and she was the daughter of some business executive millionaire guy #who was very active in local politics #he was very waspy #and she was mostly white passing #like you could kinda tell she had some asian in her but it wasn't super obvious #she was kinda ethnically ambiguous -- central asian looking #but anyway i just think it's funny #that the races that are most common and most likely to intermarry (whites + asians and whites + hispanics)#are like all the descendants/parts of the ancient north eurasians #and i just think it would be funny if we recreated them

#so one half of the couple i'm house/dogsitting for had an unexpected medical emergency on their trip #which -- i won't go into details but it culminated in a pretty serious diagnosis and emergency major surgery #and now they're coming home today after getting medevac transport back to california #and have asked me to stay here for a few more days while they settle in #as the one who had the emergency needs 24/7 care during recovery but is being released from hospital to recover at home #and they need someone to basically keep looking after the dog/keep her from getting in the way while they figure out what care he needs #anyway i agreed to stay a few days like they asked #which means i'm trying to finish my coursework before they get back later this afternoon but man my focus levels are LOW #and honestly they have been for several days at this point because once again it seems that waiting to hear about medical stuff has become #somewhat of a panic response trigger for me since the extended nightmare of february this year with my dad #and mostly i've been able to compartmentalize but the energy that takes has truly wiped me out #to the point that i'm genuinely shocked it hasn't set off a fibro flare up (touch wood)#also i really don't know this couple very well at all -- they're mostly friends of my parents-in-law #i've looked after their dog for them several times over the past couple of years #but obviously that's been while they aren't home #and i've only had fairly brief interactions with them #so i do feel a bit awkward about being here while they're going through something so serious and personal #but they're nice people and they need the help and i'm able to provide it so i'm gonna push past that #anyway just a tag post venting thing
