Can you recommend any books where they get right into the sex?
Either historical or contemporary
Sure! I'm all for an instant gratification moment (and for the purpose of this ask I stuck to early sex scenes between the main couple because there's a decent amount of het romances out there that begin with the hero and another woman..... though predictably not many with the heroine having good sex with another man :/).
Contemporary:
Minx by Sophie Lark: There's some fabulous, very hot sex (and pet play) a few chapters in, after Blake agrees to take on Ramses as a client. And once the ball gets rolling, it really doesn't stop.... and only gets better from there.
Lush Money by Angelina M. Lopez: Roxanne basically *mounts* Mateo (if there's one thing Angelina loves, it's a mounting moment) right after their agreement that she'll get her pregnant in exchange for money is finalized. It's very.... economical and Mateo hates it, but gets off on it. He's soooooo conflicted and I personally loved that.
After Hours on Milagro Street by Angelina M. Lopez: The other mounting moment sex scene; Alex hops on Jeremiah literally two minutes after arriving in the dead of the night at her family's bar. It's honestly made hotter because Angelina writes a (kinda hilarious) premature ejaculation coupled with Alex getting off after. It works and I'm all for it.
Sherwood by Sierra Simone: Such an underrated book imo; the prologue has our "Robin Hood" (she's a woman here) about to be deployed, and "Maid Marian" tries to dissuade her by eating her out. Very emotional, very hot.
Asking for Trouble by Tessa Bailey: An early face-sitting scene after she's cuffed him in her foyer. Brent puts his "middle-class mouth" to gooood use.
Scorching to the Touch by Ofelia Martinez: There's hate sex about two chapters in; Erica makes Friedrich eat her out in the bathroom of an event and when he whips out his dick and is all "what am I supposed to do with this?", she points to a stall. Honestly, a winner.
The Risk by Caitlin Crews: She's a ballerina pretending to be a stripper-escort who gets her fantasy of being "bought" fulfilled and she and her billionaire have sex pretty much right after.
Crashed Out by Tessa Bailey: Like a couple chapters in, Jasmine sees Sarge's dick and books it to her car and tries to get off, but then Sarge catches her and lends a helping hand all while asserting he's a Grown Man now.
Desperate Measures by Katee Robert: Jafar kills Jasmine's mob boss father in the beginning and within the next chapter, there's a CNC scene where he chasing her down while she pretends she doesn't want it.
Give Me More by Sara Cate: Sara immediately sets up the throuple by having the married couple, Hunter and Isabel, have anniversary sex while listening to their friend Drake have sex with two other women, with Drake also getting off while listening to Hunter and Isabel.
Historical:
The Bride Goes Rogue by Joanna Shupe: A fabulous anonymous encounter with neither Preston nor Katherine realizing who the other person is (right after Preston rejected his arranged betrothal to Kat) and they're pretending to be Louis XV and Madame Pompadour while they get each other off at a French Ball.
Her Husband's Harlot by Grace Callaway: The book starts with Helena following her husband to a brothel disguised as a prostitute, and Nicholas fully doesn't recognize her when he (successfully) has sex with her for the first time.
Passion by Lisa Valdez: An erotic romance; the literal first lines describe Mark groping Passion during the Great Exhibition, and he has her "pinned to the wall like a butterfly" within the next few pages.
The Virgin and the Rogue by Sophie Jordan: Charlotte is (allegedly) under the influence of an aphrodisiac when she mounts Kingston (can you tell I have a thing for this) in the library in the middle of the night, dry humps him, and runs away. Unironically one of my favorite Sophie Jordan sex scenes.
The Rake Gets Ravished by Sophie Jordan: The story begins with Mercy breaking into Silas's bedroom to retrieve the deed to her family home, and when Silas finds her, she seduces him and fucks him into such a deep sleep that when he awakes, all he's left with is an apology note and her *virgin blood* on the sheets.

so theres a lot of posts going round about the titanic wreck and the missing submarines; all of them that ive seen have made very good points about how shoddy the submersible seemed to be and how the company decided to wait eight hours before reporting it, and how this is a play stupid games, win stupid prizes for the ultra-wealthy who paid like 250grand a ticket for this thing.
but what i havent seen any posts about is how the titanic wreck is a gravesite and this tourism is disturbing the graves of over 1500 people.
sometimes its kinda hard to remember that those on the titanic were real people; it was over a century ago, the story has been romanticised in so many ways (like the movie), theres conspiracies theories galore that cloud everything with misinformation, but at the end of the day, those who died were real people.
do you want their names? heres a list of them; its a long read. and for fun, heres another site where you can see photos of the children and babies who died aboard.
their bodies are long gone and their lives long forgotten. all we have to remember them and honour them is the wreck itself. its all we have of them and it is their gravesite. its their tombstone.
caitlin doughty/ask a morticians video on the great lakes discusses the topic well, and why we should leave these shipwrecks alone because again, they are the gravesites of all the souls who died aboard those ships. we rarely have bodies to recover so we really are left just with the wreck.
and what really upsets me about titanic tourism is how the majority of those who died that night were not the ultra-wealthy rich folks you might picture when you think of ocean liners.
61% of the first class passengers survived
42% of the second class passengers survived
24% of the third class passengers survived
24% of the crew survived **
the majority of those who died that night were regular folk; not to be cliche, but they were just like us. titanics wreck is not only a gravesite for over 1500 people, its also a majority working class gravesite.
and look at us now. look at what were doing. the ultra-wealthy can pay the equivalent of peanuts to them to disturb a mass gravesite of the exact kind of people they exploit today to hold onto all their wealth.
its easy to point and laugh at these dumb idiots in their playstation controller submarine, seemingly held together with super glue and duct tape, but its also important to remember that what they were doing was simply disturbing a gravesite for fun. though the company does research, these guys werent down there to conduct research, they were there so they could brag about it to their friends. its like “climbing mount everest” while your sherpa does all the work.
if you cant tell, i have a lot of feelings about this. shipwrecks and ocean liners are one of my special interests and im currently building a (beginner’s) model of the titanic, for fucks sake. but i would never go down to see that wreck because its a fucking gravesite and we should not be disturbing their final resting place.

This advertisement is for The Archive Undying—a debut science fantasy epic from Emma Mieko Candon, and book one in their Downworld Sequence, featuring commissioned fanart of Sunai, the book's main character. The artist is Caitlin Ono.
WHAT IT’S ABOUT
Plugged into his AI god when its corruption renders him unfortunately immortal, sad gay disaster Sunai takes a die-again-or-die-trying approach to his tragically unending life. Despotic police states want to leash him and giant robots want to eat him, but reuniting with the small handful of people he cares about is what’s actually horrifying.
Adrift in the wilds, Sunai makes several unwise decisions such as:
Scavenging old ruins haunted by hostile fragments of another shattered technological deity
Allowing his mind to become further compromised
Sleeping with his mysterious employer for information and fun
Joining a haphazard crew of pirates who all have different motives for hunting a feral remnant of the same god that cursed him, all those years ago
This brain-melting series-starter is like a Neon Genesis Evangelion AMV set to a bass-boosted cover of George Michael’s "Careless Whisper."

mic'd up for aces v fever/ k.martin
kate martin x reader!
summary: you're mic'd up at the Aces game versus the Indiana Fever as your girlfriend plays her (and your) best friend.
!𝑨𝑩𝒀 𝑺𝑷𝑬𝑨𝑲𝑺¡
okay okay my first wbb fic on here (lol pls be nice)
also, this is my first ever y/n fic so...
Two days before the Aces were set to play the Fever, you were sent an email from the Aces media team. Kate had been sitting behind you as you opened it, laughing immediately at their request. They were practically begging you to be mic’d up at the game, courtside. They wanted you of course, due to your connection as a Hawkeye, deciding to come back for a fifth year instead of entering the draft as you were going for your masters. It also helped that their star rookie was your girlfriend.
It was an easy decision. You told them, yes, ignoring the teasing from your girlfriend as you did so. Honestly, it seemed like a great idea to you, getting to commentate on your girlfriend and your best friend as they went head to head for the first time as pros.
“Baby, you realize this is the perfect opportunity for me to embarrass the hell out of you and Cinamon?” Kate got quiet real fast after that threat.
🂡🂡🂡
The day of the game had arrived, and you decided to go with Kate to the lab, as it was a home game for the Aces. As soon as you arrived the team swarmed upon you, laughing and asking for you to add in specific commentary tonight during the game.
“No Syd I will not tell everyone you’re single and ready to mingle,” you playfully shove the older woman, laughing with everyone else as she starts to fake cry. “Go away you baby, I gotta go get mic’d.”
They all began to hype you up as the media crew came over with a little clip-on mic and pac. You listened intently as they walked you through how it would work tonight. You’d be seated right next to your coaches, and former coach Lisa Bluder, and would have the mic the whole game. You couldn’t be more excited as you knew this would give your girlfriend even more publicity and love from the media and fans.
You turned to her as she grabbed your hand.
“I’ll see you in a bit when we head over to Michalaub,” she leaned in, connecting your lips, leaving you wanting just a little bit more.
🂡🂡🂡
The media team had your mic on as you and Kate made your way into the arena for pre-game shoot-outs. The Fever was already there practicing and you giggled to yourself as you saw Caitlin stretching.
“Hey guys!” You turned to the cameras, “My name is y/n l/n, some of you may know me as number 26 for the Iowa Hawkeyes, and my favorite title, Kate Martin’s girlfriend!”
The entire team started laughing as you introduced yourself and you turned around to shush them. Cait couldn’t know you were mic’d up yet. It had to be a surprise.
“Anyways, I’m going to be mic’d up courtside tonight at the game versus the Fever. But for now, I have a reunion to get to.” You winked at the camera, spinning on your heel and cupping a hand to your mouth.
“Hey, Cinamon!” Her head whipped around from where she was standing with your girlfriend, the two of them having had their reunion.
“Tink?” Her eyes went wide with disbelief, she’d known you’d be at the game but had no idea you’d be at shoot around.
The pair of you collided, and she spun you around the same way Kate had done to her. Tears immediately pooled in your eyes at the contact. You and Caitlin had been friends for years, both of you meeting when you played for USA in 2018. You both committed to Iowa and roomed together Freshman year, she was the sister you’d always wanted, and it had been painful to be away from her.
“How are you?” You whispered, being mindful of the fact that you were mic’d up.
“I’m fine,” she smiled at you, repeating what she’d said to Kate, and you knew she’d also seen through the bs answer, but you let it go.
“I’m all mic’d up tonight,” you grinned, pointing at the mic on your shirt, “Kmart’s scared I’ll embarrass her.”
“Hey, I never said that!” Kate butted into the conversation, “She’s lying CC.”
“You calling me a liar right now?” You raised an eyebrow, eyes glancing down at the mic on your chest.
Kate folded immediately, “No Baby, I would never.”
You and Caitlin look at each other before bursting out into laughter. Some things never change.
🂡🂡🂡
“Hello, Las Vegas!” You had a cameraman pointed at you from next to one of the hoops, the media crew had told you they had a few different angles on you, all connected to your mic. “I’m here with some of my favorite women!”
You wrapped an arm around your former head coach as she laughed, wrapping her own arm around your shoulders.
“Hey Tink,” she pressed a kiss to the side of your head. She’d been the one to give you your on-court nickname. It started as ‘Tinkerbell’ because you would flit around the court like you were flying while playing defense, and the team eventually just shortened it to ‘Tink’.
“Hey, coach! You excited for tonight?” You pulled on your shirt so she could talk into the mic.
“Very excited, it’s going to be weird not yelling at Kate and Caitlin, but I guess I’ll manage.” You and Coach Jan erupted into laughter, and so did Coach Hammon who was listening in with a smirk.
“I’m also joined by my new head coach!” You positioned your body to face Jan, grinning at her.
“You excited to see our girls play?”
“Of course I am! I’ve got my phone ready to take all the behind-the-scenes pictures and videos.”
“Me too!” You grin, “I can’t wait to hit Caitlin and Katie with the evil 0.5s.”
You hear the whistle blow, and watch everyone come out onto the floor.
“There’s Cinamon!” Your eyes find Caitlin and she sends you a grin. “Look at her, my sister from another mister.”
You watch as the Aces get possession of the ball, eyes following Caitlin as she defends Kelsey. Moving down the court you can’t help but laugh as you watch Jackie attempting to guard her.
“Jackie’s in for a challenge, CC is hard as hell- oh shit- wait fuck- no sorry, am I allowed to swear? Whatever, Cait’s hard to guard. She’s knocked me on my ass -sorry- a few too many times.”
“Let’s go!” You stand up as Jackie drains the three, smirking at Cait as she runs past you.
“Cait that's not your basket.” You laugh as she shoots after Kelsey gets a foul.
Cait turns the ball over and you share a look with Coach Bluder, this has been a problem since you were Freshmen. Caitlin just sees the game differently and is six steps ahead of everyone else. It was you and Kate who were able to keep up with her pace, which is what made you so unstoppable on the court. It would take time for the Fever to match what she was putting down.
“Come on Cait, shake it off.” You watch as she misses a three, shaking your head, “she's gonna be pissed about that.”
Your eyes flit away from the game and onto the figure of your girlfriend as she sits on the bench, eyes fixed on Caitlin and the game.
“Kmoney is locked in everyone, she’s got her serious face on.”
Caitlin fouls and you let out an audible “oh shit” before apologizing into your mic again.
“Cait never loses the ball like that- oh she got it back!”
Your eyes flick between the bench and the court, waiting for the moment Kate takes off her warmups.
“A’ja’s going to have a nasty bruise from that.” You watch her get popped in the face, the entire crowd going crazy over it.
“Guys I’m just sitting here waiting for my girlfriend to go in,” you smile at one of the cameras pointed at you, before pointing at the jersey you’re wearing with Kate’s number on it.
“I'm repping 20 for a reason. Ooo that sounds like the Sabrina Carpenter song ‘Pushing 20’,” you start humming the song. “Kate when you watch this, that should be your theme song.”
“LET’S GO!” You jump up from your seat as Caitlin drains her first three of the night, holding up three fingers at her. “That’s my best friend!” You side-eye your girlfriend who’s looking at you with a raised eyebrow “Sorry Katie. You’re still number one in my heart.”
“Okay CC’s on the bench guys, geez she looks wiped already, girl needs some sleep.”
“Okay, Megan’s getting ready to check in, a win for the Hawkeyes tonight.” You high-five her as she passes you. “Guys I never played with Megan, but she was a legend when CC and I came in as Rookies.”
Your girlfriend comes running towards you, “Yes Baby!” You catch her warmup shirt that she tosses aside slapping her ass as she passes.
“My girl is so fine,” you’ve completely forgotten your coaches are sitting next to you until Julie reaches over.
“Hey, that’s still my niece Tink!”
“Sorry, Julie!” Caitlin also gets up to check in, squatting down right next to Kate. You watch them exchange smirks, knowing they’ll be guarding each other. “Here we go, Coach!”
You nudge Coach Bluder who looks a bit teary-eyed herself.
“Shit Kelsey,” you catch the ball that bounces out of bounds keeping KP from falling on you.
“Sorry y/n,” she grins before locking back into the game.
The buzzer goes and you stand up as Kate and Caitlin check into the game together, “That’s my girl!”
“Guys I might start crying and that’s embarrassing.” You say as you sit back down, eyes filling up with tears. “It’s weird seeing them in different colors, and sitting on the side instead of being on the floor with them.”
“Sorry guys you might have to cut this,” you stifle a small sob as you watch them defend each other. It was one thing talking about it, and making jokes, but seeing it happen, and not playing yourself was a whole other thing that had your throat tightening.
“I’m filming!” Jan says, making you let out a choked laugh. You push back the tears, telling yourself to be happy that they’re both living out their dreams.
You pull out your phone, taking a few photos and videos of your girl and her best friend as they guard each other for the first time outside of carver-hawkeye.
They’re both trying to play it cool, but the smile on their faces as they sprint down the court towards you tells a different story.
“CC and Kmart together again.” You point to Cait who points back giving you a grin.
“All that’s missing is their Tink.” Coach Bluder says, patting your knee.
“Look at my girl go!” You grin, pointing at Kate who grabbed the ball in the turnover, making her way down the court.
“How is that not Aces Ball!?” You’re just as pissed as your girlfriend, who’s gotten good at challenging ref’s over the years. “She’s going to complain about that to me later guys,” you whisper into the mic.
“Okay guys, the first quarter is over. We had our on-court reunion with my favorite Hawkeyes. How are we feeling, because I’m emotional.” You’re having a one-sided conversation with yourself as Coach Bluder gets up to go sit with the commentators for the second quarter.
“Guys she’s starting in the second quarter! My girl is a pro now!”
“I’m never letting that go CC,” you say as you watch her basically throw the ball out of bounds.
“Look at her, I’m literally the luckiest girl in the world.”
“Cait just missed that three and it landed in Katie’s hands, once upon a time that would have ended up as an assist.”
Your eyes widen as you watch Kate go down, her knee at a weird angle, your heart in your throat. “That better not be a bad fall.” You say to Jan, “Thank God.” You mutter as she gets up, sprinting down the court.
“Oh shit, that looked like it hurt,” all respect for your language went out the window the moment Kate fell. You were fired up, the worry for your girlfriend at the max. Even as you watched Cait get smacked in the eye.
“Cinamon shoots two.” She drains the first, “nice CC,” drains the second, “easy money.”
“Good job Baby,” Kate smiles at you, hand grazing your leg as she walks back to the bench.
“Syd babes that was a flop.” You laugh watching her go down.
“Get some Money!” Kate runs past you again to check-in. “Katie in, CC out.”
“Shit Kate!” Your hand flys to your mouth as you watch her ankle go, and the limp-hop she does after. “That is not good guys. She shook it off pretty good, but I can tell when my girl is in pain.”
Kate goes down again, and you can’t help but clench your teeth as you hear the skid of her thigh on the court. “Come on baby, shake it off.” She gets up slower this time, you can tell it’s wearing on her, but she's pushing through.
“Yes, Money Martin with the assist!”
“Jesus Christ, is it throw y/n’s girlfriend to the ground day or something?” Kate goes down yet again, this time a foul is called, thankfully. A’ja runs to pull her up and you grin, “Look at A’ja helping my girl out like the good vet she is.”
You turn your head to look over at Caitlin who has her face buried in her towel, only her eyes showing, and you know it’s her way of keeping her eyes on the game without revealing anything. But you can see worry in the crease between her eyebrows, you’re both not liking the ground time Kate’s been getting.
Kate walks past you as she comes in for the time-out. She sends you a nod, letting you know she’s okay.
“Okay guys, sorry for the lack of comments, it’s been a bit tense here. Gotta make sure my girl is fine before I can be commentating.”
“You would make a terrible sports commentator,” Coach Bluder says, laughing at the put-out look on your face.
“Cooked by Bluder, everyone!” You hold your hand to your chest in mock hurt, “demolished by my coach. But alas, she’s right. I’d just be too busy talking about my girlfriend to be a good commentator.”
Coach leans closer to you, “She’s censoring herself for you guys, these are tame compared to the comments she drops during Hawkeye practices and games.”
“Okay, enough mic time for you coach!”
“Look at her go bringing the ball up! My little pro.” You practically have heart eyes, and for the first time, you see yourself projected on the jumbotron.
“Oh okay, I see how it is,” You grin, finding the camera that’s projecting you, winking pointing to your jersey, then the court where Kate is.
The crowd goes insane, causing some of the players to look up, earning a laugh from Caitlin and a wink from Kate.
“I’m more popular than both of them combined.”
Kate comes back to the bench again and you squeeze her hand as she passes. She sends you a smile, finding her seat next to Megan again, both of you locking back into the game.
“Let's go! Halftime baby!” You stand from your seat. “See you guys after the break!”
🂡🂡🂡
“Okay everyone I’m back! Let's go! I have a feeling we’ll be getting some money this quarter.”
You turn to look at the empty seats around you. “Well, you may notice I am now awkwardly here alone. Coach Bluder and Coach Jenson are off socializing, so I’m left to man the fort.”
“I can’t believe they called that a foul,” you mutter, as Coach Hammon goes to challenge the foul a second time.
“My lover is back in the game, you guys.” You watch as Smith misses both foul shots.
“That was a waste of a foul.”
“MONEY!” You shout, jumping to your feet as Kate scores her first points of the day, draining a three with ease. “That’s my fucking girl! Let’s fucking go! We are so back!”
Kate points to you as she runs down the court, making a heart with her hands as you hold up three fingers.
“Get her babe!” Kate’s on Caitlin again, and your bias towards your girlfriend begins to show as she plays solid defense.
After A’ja’s fouled you can see Caitlin talking to the ref about Kate, you can’t make out what they’re saying, but it’s got Kate smirking.
“They’re talking mad shit to each other, I just know it,” you whisper into the mic. “I wonder how personal those insults are getting.”
“Baby’s gone beast mode,” you say as you watch Kate celebrating A’ja’s shot.
“Look at her cheesin’ isn’t she the cutest.” You watch Kate grin at whatever Caitlin says to her.
“Kmoney for the block!” You yell, “a fucking beast!”
You stand as she goes for the three, but it rims and falls out of the basket, “shake it off, baby! Plenty more buckets to make!”
“Quarter three is over guys, and my beautiful girlfriend has been burning up the court!”
“That’s my fucking girlfriend!” You stand throwing up three fingers as Kate drains her second three of the night. “Redemption baby!”
She points at you as she runs back down the court.
“Kmart is on fire right now guys!”
“That’s a fucking foul! Yeah, call that shit! It’s in Let’s fucking go!” You’re on your feet, ignoring the laughs from your coaches at your yelling, you’re saying everything you can’t say when you’re on the bench.
“My girl is the goat guys. She’s on fucking fire.”
Kate's eyes find yours, grinning when she sees you standing, clapping for her, a triumphant smile on your face.
“Drained it!” You watch her make the foul shot, clapping your hands together as you finally sit back down. The jumbotron is split between the two of you, one half showing you’re over the top reaction and the other replaying her basket.
Caitlin stands in front of you as she checks back into the game. “Let’s go CC,” you can’t see her face, but you can sense her little smirk.
“Y’all see the bruises on that girl’s arms? Geez, maybe I need to send her some arm guards for real.” Coach Bluder bursts out into laughter at that.
“Katie’s back on the bench guys, so my commentary will be limited as I will now spend this time admiring her.” Your coaches snort, as they know this is a very common occurrence for you. But you ignore them, eyes finding the tired ones of your girlfriend.
‘you okay?’ you mouth, looking at her intently.
She nods, ‘I’m good, love you.’
‘I love you too.’
Your eyes move back to the court, finding Caitlin’s very tired-looking figure. Her hands are on her knees and you just know she's done for the night. She spends more time in the game than on the bench, and it’s wearing on her. WNBA is way more physical and demanding compared to the NCAA, and Caitlin is getting the short end of the stick.
You pull out your phone, pulling up her contact.
‘cinnamon, if i don’t receive photo evidence of you resting over the next few days. i’ll fly to indiana and sit next to your bed while you sleep.’
You hit send, knowing she won’t see it until after the game, and that you could tell her in person, but this way she knows you were thinking about it during the game itself.
“CC is 100% done for the night guys, she’s tired.” You say as you watch her check out of the game and head to the bench.
“But my girl is back in playing the last few minutes of the game!”
The quarter moves on and your eyes intently follow Kate as she runs up and down the court. But you’re silent as you observe, too entranced with Kate to remember your mic’d. That is until she’s fouled again.
Your breath catches in your throat as you watch her knee go at a dangerous angle yet again as she goes for the three.
“You’re literally kidding!? Yeah, that’s another fucking whistle!” You watch her take a few stumbling steps before regaining her footing. “You got this Katie.”
“Three foul shots, if she makes just one, guys, she’ll go double digits for this game!”
“Get in there… YES!” You grin, clapping your hands together as you will the ball to go in.
“And she hits the second, that’s my fucking girlfriend!” You can hear A’ja laughing at you from the bench and you send her a look, getting a grin back in response.
“All three! Twelve points tonight for my girl!”
“And Aces win!” You jump up from your chair as the buzzer sounds. Your arms wrap around Coach Jensen as she stands up as well, both of you laughing with joy for Kate. You pull away, your eyes finding Caitlin on the floor, sending her a smile, asking with your gaze if she's okay. She nods at you, knowing you want to spend the next few minutes with Kate.
‘See you later?’ you mouth and she nods again.
“Kate was on fire tonight!” Jan exclaims, “Twelve points is incredible for her!”
“She was amazing,” you say as you see her heading back from the commentator stand. She jogs over to where you guys are, launching herself into your arms.
“Hi baby,” she says into your neck, hands around your waist.
“Hi lovebug,” you tighten your arms around her neck, “you played so well tonight.”
“Mmm,” she mutters, nose still pressed against your throat. “I need you at all my games now.”
“Every game this summer till training camp for Iowa, baby.” She pulls back, finally pressing her lips to yours, not a care in the world for whoever is around.
She pulls back, glancing down at the mic still attached to your shirt. “Alright guys, I hope you had fun listening to my amazing girlfriend’s commentary, but now I want her all to myself.”
Kate plucks the mic from your shirt, handing it off to one of her coaches before taking your hand and leading you towards the rest of your little ‘party’.
🂡🂡🂡
After the game, you meet up with Caitlin, pulling her into your arms, knowing how she beats herself up after a loss. She melts into your arms as if you’re sixteen again and living without a care in the world.
“You played good tonight cinnamon, don’t beat yourself up. You’re drained from your game in LA.”
“I know,” she mumbles, “it still sucks.”
You rub her shoulders, sending Kate a reassuring smile at the look of concern on her face. “It’ll get better CC, you just can’t let yourself burn out. You gotta take care of yourself.”
“I’m trying Tink. It’s hard. But I’m trying.”
“Call me whenever you get down, okay?” You pull back, looking her in the eyes. “I’m here for you, Katie’s here for you. We want you to be happy and enjoy yourself. So talk to us okay?”
“Okay.” She smiles, a mischievous look crossing her face, and you know what’s coming because you saw her do it to Kate and yelled at her for it.
“Don’t you fucking dare Clark!”
“Too late,” she smirks, hand connecting with your ass. You yelp shoving her away.
“Hey, woah woah, hands off Clark.” Kate pulls you into her arms, making sure you don’t step on her, as she’s not wearing shoes, again.
Cait puts her hands up, grinning. “Sorry Cap.” Kate makes a face, hand going down to wrap around your waist, keeping you at her side and away from Caitlin’s ass slaps.
The three of you were back together again, and you knew, somehow everything would be okay.

winner winner
emily fox x actress!reader
summary: your girlfriend is surprised when you mention her name at an event
the lights are bright as you sit at one of the front tables at the emmy awards, heart racing as the show plays out in front of you.
your castmates are scattered around the table, all smiling and laughing between segments, but you can’t shake the nervous excitement settling in your stomach.
you’ve been nominated for best actress in a drama series, and even though everyone keeps telling you how deserving you are, you can’t quite believe it.
you glance down at your phone, where a string of texts from emily fill the screen.
emily: good luck babe!!!
emily: i'm so proud of you already
emily: everyone's watching here, don't stress <3
you can practically see her excited smile behind the messages, and it makes your heart swell. she’s back in london, watching the ceremony with her arsenal teammates, and just the thought of her staying up late to support you calms you slightly.
“you ready for this?” one of your co-stars leans over, nudging you playfully.
you give them a tight-lipped smile, fiddling with your rings. “as ready as i’ll ever be.”
the presenters return to the stage, and your category is announced just an hour after the show began.
you try to focus on your breathing as the nominees are listed, your name flashing on the screen alongside clips from your show. your heart pounds in your chest, and then—
“and the emmy for best actress in a drama series goes to... y/n l/n!!!!!”
the world goes silent for a moment as you register the words, and then it hits you all at once. you’ve won. you can’t stop the grin from spreading across your face as your castmates erupt in cheers around you, hugging you tightly before you make your way to the stage.
the applause is loud, the lights almost blinding as you step up to the microphone, holding the emmy in your trembling hands.
you glance out at the audience, overwhelmed by the gravity of the moment, and then you begin.
“wow... okay,” you laugh breathlessly, trying to calm your nerves. “i did not expect this, so i’ll try to keep it together.”
the audience chuckles softly, and you glance at your cast sitting at the table. “first, i want to thank my incredible co-stars. this show would be nothing without you guys. you’re all so talented, amazing, and supportive, and i feel so lucky to have worked alongside you.”
you take a deep breath, emotions catching up with you. “to my parents, thank you for always believing in me, even when this career felt like a far-fetched dream. and to the crew, the writers, the directors—everyone who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this show come to life—you’re the real heroes tonight.”
you pause, feeling a lightness in your chest as you approach the end of your speech. “and last but not least... emily,” you say with a smirk, eyes twinkling. “she knows what she did.”
the audience bursts into laughter, and you can already imagine the chaos that line will cause online.
you grin wider, feeling a surge of warmth as you picture emily blushing back in london.
“seriously, though, emily, your support means the world to me. i couldn’t have done this without you too.”
you finish with a few final words of gratitude before stepping off the stage, your heart still racing as you return to your seat, clutching the emmy tightly.
your phone buzzes in your lap, and you can already see the notifications piling up—fans reacting to your speech, people congratulating you. but there’s one message you’re waiting for.
meanwhile, in london, emily sits wide-eyed in front of the tv, surrounded by her arsenal teammates—leah, katie, caitlin, kyra, and lia.
when your speech finishes, the room erupts.
“she mentioned you!” leah exclaims, clapping emily on the back.
“emily too,” katie teases, mimicking your voice with a grin. “you’re famous now.”
emily buries her face in her hands, cheeks burning red. “oh my god, stop!”
“that was so cute!” kyra says, nudging emily with her elbow. “you didn’t tell us she’d say something like that.”
“i didn’t know!” emily protests, still flustered. “she’s just—ugh, she’s amazing.”
“so when’s the wedding?” caitlin jokes, and everyone bursts into laughter, including emily, though she can’t hide the proud smile spreading across her face.
hours later, you finally return to your hotel suite, the weight of the emmy still surreal in your hands.
as soon as the door shuts behind you, you dial emily’s number, eager to hear her voice.
she picks up on the second ring. “hey, you.”
“hey,” you grin, sinking onto the couch, exhausted but exhilarated.
“did you watch?”
“of course i watched! you were incredible, y/n. seriously, we’re all freaking out over here.”
“you’re freaking out? well, i’m not surprised– you were probably blushing.” you laugh.
emily groans on the other end. “i knew that was coming. you couldn’t resist, could you?”
“nope,” you reply cheekily, settling deeper into the cushions. “but i meant it, em. your support really does mean the world to me. i wouldn’t have gotten through any of this without you.”
there’s a pause on the other end, and when emily speaks again, her voice is softer. “that’s sweet of you to say. i’m just so proud of you. i knew you’d win.”
“i still can’t believe it,” you admit, glancing at the emmy sitting on the table across from you. “it feels like a dream.”
“well, believe it,” emily says with a smile in her voice. “you earned it.”
you close your eyes, the sound of her voice easing the whirlwind of emotions still swirling inside you.
“i can’t wait to see you when i get back to london.”
“me neither,” emily replies. “but for now, just enjoy your night. you deserve it.”
you smile, feeling a warmth spread through your chest. “i love you, em.”
“i love you too.”
as the call ends, you look around the quiet room, the emmy glinting in the soft light. you smile, happy to be a winner and to have a winner supporting you back home.

reporting live, paige bueckers
— synopsis. you meet paige when you’re assigned to report on the uconn v. iowa game. twoshot!
notes ౨ৎ: i’ve never wrote for a real person before it feels so strange…but there’s like no fics on here i had to take matters into my own hands.
also yes im rewriting history to make uconn win!
next ౨ৎ
you checked yourself out in the mirror, fixing your outfit - low rise black work pants with a white button down that showed a small sliver of your stomach with black sling back heels.
you tossed your hair around to fix it making sure it was in perfect shape. after all, your job was pretty dependent on looks.
you worked as a reporter for the city's top news agency and tonight you would be attending the uconn versus iowa women's basketball game.
you were also pretty active on social media and managed to make some money that way, you were more than grateful for your lifestyle.
you called your friend, devon , to make sure she was on her way to get you knowing you absolutely could not be late tonight.
she answered the phone and you sighed a breath of relief when it sounded like she was in fact on her way.
"hey girll, are you excited for tonight? pretty big story" she said, bustling city noise behind her.
"yeah i'm excited to interview uconn after they beat iowa's ass" you smirked when you heard her gasp on the other side. "they so will not! my girlfriend caitlin's gonna pull through"
"nah, paige buckets got that easily" you scoffed as you packed your bag, ready to head downstairs out of your apartment.
your bosses had assigned you to tonight's game and hooked you up with two court-side tickets for you and a guest, along with the camera crew.
you of course had to invite your best friend to go with you.
you stepped outside the building and watched as her car pulled up outside.
"ugh i can't believe i get to see caitlin clark up close" devon squealed as you got yourself situated in the car. "ugh be calm, you literally have a boyfriend." you joked. "okay and?" she laughed as she drove off.
once you were at the stadium, you and devon met at with your crew as you found your seats inside.
the game wasn't due to start for another fourty or so minutes but it was already packed inside.
you were glad women's basketball was finally getting the recognition it deserved after you and your mom had been fans of it almost your whole life. you even played a little bit in high school.
you and devon got snacks before sitting down and getting yourselves comfortable.
it didn't feel long until the players came out and the game was started. aliyah and hailey jump started the game before kk threw the ball back at paige.
the game was a close one and you made sure to follow it closely. throughout the game you did side interviews with other players and people attending the game, which was all just leading up to the end of game interviews.
it was the final quarter and you made sure to pay close attention.
it all came down to the last few seconds when paige threw the ball off caitlin's back to catch it again and land the ball in the net, giving uconn the winning score!
you and your crew sat up as you turned your reporter accent on "there you have it folks, uconn has won this round and will advance to the final game against south carolina. what an amazing job tonight by these wonderful ladies on both teams. win or lose, it was a great watch and i'm cheering for everyone's next move."
once you were sure the cameras were off you turned around to devon and threw your hands in the air.
"bitch i told you! i tolddd you paige had this game" you squealed. "ughhh you're so annoying why are you always right" she groaned.
a few minutes later you popped some mouthwash melts and fixed your makeup before you were to interview paige.
your hands were sweating like crazy. you never wanted to come off as an insane fan girl but you were obsessed with paige.
your cameraman followed you as you walked over to paige and she turned around. "hi" she smiled and shook your hand. "hi, are you ready?" you asked her. "yeah" she smiled. you gave your cameraman a thumbs up as he turned the camera on.
you turned to paige, who was already staring at you and you took a deep breath. you're usually never nervous to interview people but god the way she was looking at you.
her eyes were trained on yours and she had a little smirk on her face, her face was glistening from the tiring game she just played and she licked her lips waiting for you to ask your first question.
you cleared your throat "i'm here with paige bueckers, who just made the winning move in the highly anticipated iowa versus uconn game! tell me paige, how did it feel to take the winning shot?" you turned the microphone to her.
she rubbed her chin "ah it was really nerve racking to be honest i mean. i could feel my team counting on me and i knew i really had to pull through and get us out on top" she answered, eyes focusing back on you.
"yeah but that was a tough shot wasn't it?" you watched her eyes drop down to scan you before meeting yours again. "yeah but i knew i could make it in for sure"
"right, bueckers get buckets i don't know what to tell y'all" you joked to the camera. paige laughed.
"yeah for sure but i really owe it all to my team" she continued before kk came up behind her. "yupppppp WE GOING TO THE TITLE GAME" she threw her arms around you and paige and the threw of you jumped in excitement before running to find her other teammates.
you laughed it off before continuing for the camera "well there you have it, paige it was lovely to talk to you. congratulations on the winning game! make sure those of you at home tune in to the final game taking place in just a few days." you signed off the camera before your crew stopped filming.
you turned to paige and dropped the reporter voice. "it was nice to meet you by the way" you smiled. "i could say the same" her eyes never left yours and you bit your cheek to hide a smile.
"well i should let you go celebrate, congratulations, have a good night!" you said, beginning to walk away.
"bye it was nice to meet you" she said before you fully walked away.
you walked over to devon who was waiting on the side. "i know damn well your heart is racing"
"shut up" you smirked.

Behind the Scenes of Rivals - with David Tennant & friends [ Part 2 ]
Excerpt from Caitlin Moran’s The Time Magazine article (Sept 2024)
There is an emotional support dog on set - of course there is. An ice-cream van turns up at 2pm - burly crew members walk around the grounds eating tiny pink strawberry cones, looking delighted. And, for reasons I never fully discover, someone has a ferret on a lead. As I wander around the gigantic mansion, I bump into various cast members, who all seem overjoyed to be there. Claire Rushbrook, who plays Monica Baddingham - Tony Baddingham's posh, tolerant wife - is in the orangery, having her makeup done, eating a scone. "I mean, we are doing acting," she says. "I want to make that clear. But... it is also enormous fun." When it comes to the atmosphere on set, I later talk to David Tennant about this subject. "Yes - there was a lot of due diligence about only having... joyful people on set. Crew and cast," Tennant says, carefully. Dominic Treadwell-Collins [ producer ] is more forthright. "We had a very strict 'no arseholes' policy," he says. "We did a lot of research. On EastEnders, some of [the cast] were really unpleasant; rotten apples who ruined it. For Rivals, we talked to producers and agents off the record, and if they said, 'He's a marvelous actor - but also a wanker,' or 'He'll be amazing, but he did beat up a girlfriend ten years ago,' we just didn't cast them. Lots of people [in television] will put up with it. We were like, 'Life's too short.' Also, if you've got David Tennant on the call sheet, he's such a genuinely lovely, kind, decent man - and that flows down through everyone else.

Overprotective - CC
Pairing: Caitlin Clark x Reader
Summary: 3 times you navigate her need to protect you (based on THIS request)
Warnings: Protective CC, mildly suggestive in the first one
Word Count: 3.5k
Sweetbans Masterlist
AN: Protective CC would be superior. Also used piece of a movie to help with one of the instances, see if you can spot it.
The First.
You don't know how you got here. Everything happened so fast, you couldn't comprehend the events that were unfolding in front of you. One second you were sitting at the lunch tables with your friends, the next you had milk going down your back and you see your best friend launch herself at whoever who did it.
See high school wasn't your friend. You remember all those movies about the outcast getting bullied by everybody who thinks they're anybody? Yeah, that's you. Walking through the halls of your school with a walking target on your back. A target that just magically appeared one day and has never left. Forget the fact that you were at a religious school, it was almost worse than if you went to public school. The girls here were a whole new level of mean.
There was only one thing that kept you sane and that was your best friend. That is your best friend and crush for the last 4 years. A crush that you swallow down and will take to your grave to never see the light of day. You had met the brown haired girl at an AAU tournament. You loved going to AAU tournaments and would spend a majority of your time in gyms with your mom was a coach and your older sister played. It was crazy how every bone in her body was athletic and every bone in yours was not. She took after your mom while you took after your dad. Going back to the brown haired girl, you were sitting and watching the team your mom coached when a ball came flying your way, hitting you straight in the head. The brown haired girl came running over, apologizing immediately. Once you got over the pain, she introduced herself and you did the same. Little did you know that the beginning of your friendship was a foreshadowing to the rest of your friendship.
Bringing it back to the milk running down your back. You were sitting in the cafeteria with Caitlin and a few other girls from her team when Stacy and her crew walked up to your table.
"Well look who we have here," Stacy says, eyes trained on you. Forget who you were sitting with, when Stacy had an agenda to humiliate you - she would do it.
You don't look up at the girl and continue eating your lunch. You see Caitlin's teammates sit up a little straighter, always keeping an eye out for you. What you don't see is Caitlin's fists clench as her whole body tenses up.
"Ignoring me now are we?" Stacy says. "Do we really think that is the best idea?"
Whenever you talked to your dad about what was happening at school, he would empathize with you. He would also tell you to not give them the light of day - show them that they don't phase you. And that is exactly the plan you had.
You take another bite of your sandwich and ignore Stacy.
"Why don't you try and ignore this," she says as she elbows her boyfriend Tyler. Tyler picks up the milk from Caitlin's tray and slowly pours it down the back of your shirt.
As much as you try to ignore the cold liquid running down your back, you straighten from the cold sensation and feel a lump in your throat form.
Another thing your dad told you was to never let the enemy see you cry, they feed off of you weakness only fueling them even more.
Before you can turn to say something, You see Caitlin stand. Before you can stop her, she has her fist connecting with Tyler's face.
You sit there in shock for a whole two seconds as you hear the whole cafeteria go silent. It's not like Tyler can hit back but you first thought was 'what if he did?'.
Caitlin's team is now pulling her away from Tyler and Stacy's group as Stacy is checking to make sure Tyler is okay.
When you come to your senses, you grab Caitlin's arm and drag her out and down the hallway to the nearest bathroom. The team stayed behind to let the teachers know what happened which you were beyond grateful for.
Once you got Cait into the bathroom you just stand there and look at her. You can see the rage in her eyes and you are sure yours reflect something similar.
How could she be so stupid, you thought to yourself. You look down at the hand that collided with Tyler and your whole demeanor softens. You walk past Caitlin and grab a paper towel. You wet it under the sink and take her hand.
The second the cool towel makes contact with her knuckles, she flinches, trying to retreat but you don't let her.
"Stop moving," you tell her. She lets out an exasperated groan.
You bring her hand up to examine it closer as you pat her bruising skin. She doesn't move and lets you run your fingers on top of her own.
"You're so dumb," you say knowing her hand is going to bug her for the next week days at practice.
There would be a lot that you didn't tell your best friend, worried that something like this would happen. You have seen Caitlin's temper and would fear it would lead to regrettable actions.
She looks at you in disbelief.
"If you think I was going to sit there and just let them do that, you are very wrong," Caitlin says. You didn't realize how close she had gotten to you but once you realize it, you feel the hair on your arms rise.
Caitlin is looking into your eyes, her hand that you were just holding is now on your neck. Her thumb grazes your cheek. You would be lying to yourself if you were to say you haven't thought about this.
"Caitlin," you say as she leans in and gently presses her lips to yours.
At first, the kiss is slow and sweet. Just getting to know the way each other's lips move. Once there is an unspoken comfortability, and Cait senses that, she deepens the kiss. Your hands come to wrap around her neck as hers find a home on your waist. She backs you up into the sink, using the gasp that escapes you to allow her tongue to explore yours.
Caitlin breathes you in like her life depends on it. She squeezes your hips and moans into you when she feels your hands tug at the hair on the back of her head. She wants you in ways she would never dare speak of, at least that was before her knowing you would kiss her back with as much need.
You feel her hands slip under your shirt and you are suddenly hyper-aware of the fact that you are still in the school bathroom. One of your hands comes to her chest, giving her a little push which elicits a low whine from the girl. As much as you want her, your first time together will not be in the confines of this wretched place.
"Not here," you say out of breath. She hesitates but nods. Your hand comes up to hold her face.
"You are beautiful," you say really looking at her features. When you say it, you feel her cheeks warm as she smiles. She leans in to hide her face into your shoulder and neck, a gesture you have learned she does when she is overly excited and or extremely content. She muffles something into your neck that you can't understand.
"What was that?" You ask. She lifts her head a little.
"You smell like milk," she says with a little giggle. You push her back and she is now full on laughing.
You remove your shirt and rinse it out in the sink. Caitlin comes up behind you wraps her arms around your middle.
"You're so much help," you say sarcastically.
"I know," she says, smiling at you through the mirror.
"Maybe I'll walk out there like this," you say referring to you being topless.
"Like hell you will," Cait says as she removes the sweatshirt she is wearing. She forces it over your head, causing your hair to get messed up. Not that she cared, the idea of you walking out for everyone to see blinded every other thought she had. She treats you like a child who can't dress themselves as she is pulling your arms through the sleeves one by one.
"There you go," she says content with herself.
"Promise me you won't do that again," you say as you take her hand.
"You know I don't make promises I can't keep," she says and you roll your eyes at the girl.
You thank her as the two of you head back out into the world. Later that day, after Caitlin is done with practice, she makes her way to your house. The two of you hang outside in your backyard, bundled up in your hammock. You talk about when each of your feelings started to arise for one another and what your lives look like together. She tells you how she tried to hide her hand from her coach but was ultimately outed. You grabbed her hand and took another look at the bruises that have developed.
"I still can't believe you punched Tyler," you whisper as you are looking at her hand.
"And I would do it again if he ever messes with you like that again," Cait says not missing a beat.
"I know you would," you say as you bring her hand up to your lips, giving it the most gentle kiss.
The Worst.
You are at home, book in hand, planted on the couch while wrapped in a blanket when the softest knock comes from the front door. You look at the clock, 10:42 PM.
Making your way to the door you check to see who it is. After spotting your girlfriend and one of her teammates you open it in a heartbeat.
The sight in front of you is one that you wish you never had to see.
Caitlin is being held up by her teammate who is doing her best to keep the beat up girl from hunching over.
"Sorry to bug you so late, I didn't know where else to take her," her teammate says and you go to help her bring Caitlin into your house.
"What happened?" You ask and Cait's teammate looks at you warily. By the look you already know. Your mind flashes back to lunch where you were humiliated worse than ever before.
Walking into the cafeteria, you are met with glances and muffled laughs. When you walk up to your usual table, you are met with Stacy and Tyler.
"Oh hey there," Stacy says with a wicked smile. You ignore her and go to sit when your eyes is drawn to something. Looking at the flyer on the table you see a photoshoped picture of your face on some model in a bikini.
You feel the blood drain form your face as panic sets in - looking around you see everyone has fliers in their hands and are laughing at you. The humiliation is sickening.
You turn to run back out out the cafeteria when you are met with familiar arms.
"I got you," Caitlin whispers as you hide your face in her. She looks over at Stacy and her gang, ripping a flier from a nearby girl's hand, taking a look at what they had done. All Cait can see is red when she crumples the paper and is about to go give Stacy a piece of her mind when she feels your shaking body.
"I got you," Cait says again, deciding to take you out of the situation. As she looks at Stacy, Caitlin's eyes show she will be back.
Caitlin takes you home and promises she will be back. You beg her to stay with you which she gives in and stays.
She holds you as you fall asleep in her arms. When you wake up, you are alone. You knew Cait had a game which is where you believed her to be. After checking your phone, you suspicions are right which is when you curl up with a book.
"I've got her," you tell Caitlin's teammate and they leave.
Caitlin is sitting on your couch, not a word spoken.
You grab arm and lead her up to your bathroom. it takes some time to get up the stairs but she manages. Once in your bathroom, she takes a seat on the counter as you grab your first aid kit.
Looking at your girl, you don't know where to begin. Putting the hydrogen peroxide down, you run downstairs to grab a few bags of frozen veggies and return with them. You place one on Caitlin's eye and another on her knee. The final bag you brought goes to her right fist and she flinches.
You start cleaning the cuts and scraps on her left hand, shortly moving over to her right. You clean and bandage all the open wounds you see. Caitlin shifts and winces.
You look at her with furrowed eyebrows as her hand comes to bring an ice pack to her abdomen. Moving her hand, you try to lift her shirt but she fights you for the first time. You shoot her a 'don't you dare' look and she slumps her shoulders and lets you lift her shirt. You don't need to lift it far to see her once porcelain skin painted with blue, green and yellow.
"Holy shit," you mutter as you go to gently bring her shirt over her head.
"Caity," you say with a sigh, scared to touch her.
"It's not as bad as it looks," she says trying to smile. You fingers come to graze against the blue parts of her stomach and she winces again.
Your concern for the girl grows as you continue to find more and more injuries.
You finish caring for her by cleaning up her face. There wasn't much to clean up, just her eye.
Once finished, you bring her head to lean against your shoulder.
The two of you stay like that for a while.
"I'm not sorry," she mutters.
"I know," you say. She lifts her head to look in your eyes. She leans her forehead against yours.
"Can I spend the night?" She asks. "Don't want my parents to see me."
You nod. You step back and help her off the counter, guiding her to your bed. After helping her lay down you begin to leave your room.
"Where are you going?" Cait asks.
"I'll be right back, babe," you say as you grab the bags of now unfrozen veggies. You return them to the freezer and grab some Advil along with a glass of water.
When you walk back into your room, you see Caitlin laying there with her eyes closed. You go and sit next to her and you watch her chest rise and fall. Your eyes can't help by travel down to her colored abdomen as you feel a pain in your chest.
"I wish you didn't," you say as Caitlin brings her hand to rest on your thigh.
"They can't think what they did is okay," she says, her eyes still closed.
"I don't care about them, I care about you," you say as your thumb begins to rub the skin right under her right breast.
Caitlin finally opens her eyes and you pass her the pain reliever.
You make your way to your side of the bed and lay down. Scooting close to her, you are too scared to lean on her.
"Want me to make the joke about seeing the other guy?" Caitlin asks trying to lighten the mood.
"Absolutely not," you say. You hear Cait chuckle, then feel her scoot closer to you so your arms are touching.
"Promise me you won't do this again," you breath out.
She is silent for a little before responding.
"You know I can't make promises I can't keep," she says.
The Last.
You are sitting in the bleachers of your high schools gym waiting to watch Caitlin play one of your schools biggest rivals. You watch the game intently as Caitlin dominates the court per usual.
Her team takes the win and you wait for you girl in the stands as she celebrates with her team first. As you are waiting you feel someone come and sit next to you.
"Hey there," someone says and you turn to see a guy from the other school. You give him a smile but don't say anything.
"I was wondering if you wanted to get out of here?" He asks.
"No thank you," you say as you stand and head down to the court to find Cait.
To your discomfort, he follows you.
"Hey, come back baby," he says as he grabs your arm. You yank it out of his hand.
"Is there a problem here?" You hear your girlfriend say as she wraps her arm around you.
"No," you whisper as you see the look in Caitlin's eye. It is the look of protector, the 'if you make one wrong move I will f-you up' look.
"Just trying to get this pretty little thing to leave with me," the guys says not taking the hint that you were in no way interested.
You feel Caitlin tense next to you and your grab her arm trying to get her to stop whatever she is about to do. You fail as you feel her lung at the guy.
"CLARK!" A voice booms. Everyones head whips to the origin of the sound to find Cait's coach.
"You swing, you are no longer on this team," Coach says as everyone turns their head to see Caitlin's arm wound up behind her. You see the dilemma in Caitlin's eye.
Your hand comes up to bring her fist down and she takes a step back. You know she can't afford to get kicked off the team - she is preparing to head to Iowa to play in college.
"Yes Coach," she says as she takes a step back. The guy now has a smirk on his face as if he didn't just dodge a bullet.
"Yes Coach," he teases and before you know it you are are the one swinging at the guy. You fist comes into contact with his face and you immediately regret it. Pain shoots from your right hand and up your arm.
"Oh shit," Caitlin says in awe of you.
Caitlin's coach shakes her head and walks away, she could stop Caitlin but has no jurisdiction over you.
The pain in your hand continues to grow.
"Cait, something isn't right," you say and she takes a hold of your hand. You let out a screech when she makes contact with you and shortly sees you fractured your hand.
Caitlin is the one to drive you to urgent care. You go and get your hand checked out, walking out with your hand in a serious wrap and follow up instructions.
As Caitlin drives you home, she is still in disbelief that you were the one to throw a punch. She parks in front of your house and turns her car off.
You sit there in silence, ashamed that you let your temper get the best of you.
"Babe," she says and you turn to look at her. The look in her eyes is something you have never seen before.
"I'm sorry," you say and look away from her. Her hand comes up to bring your face to look back out her.
"Don't apologize, my love," she says and leans in to press a kiss to your lips. "It was honestly really hot."
You giggle at her comment. You take a moment as your tone becomes more serious.
"Cait, you need to figure out a way to control your temper," you say playing with her hand. "No more hitting."
She is about to speak when you cut her off.
"I agree with your coach," you say and you look in her eyes. "I need you to promise me, no more fights. We will figure something else out okay? I can't have you going around fighting everyone, not here and definitely not in college."
You hadn't told Cait you were planning on going to Iowa with her. She knew you applied but she had no idea you had gotten in, not that she had any doubts.
She gives you the 'you better not be messing with me' look and you just smile at her. Her excitement overtakes her as she pulls you into her, burying her face into your neck. Your smile matches hers.
She lets you go and looks at you.
"I promise," she says. "I promise, no more fighting."
A stress in your releases as you have been waiting to hear those words fall from her mouth for over a year now.
"I love you," you say as you bring her face to yours.
"I love you more," Cait says kissing your lips.
AN: FIGHT ME. Not actually but I can see Cait bumping chest with someone as she yells that. Let me know if you see the same. And as always, thank you for your love and support 🤍

Any good marriage for convenience romance books?
I actually had a hard time with this one because there are so many historicals where the marriage is convenient for one party, or like, convenient in that otherwise she'll be "ruined" or she's possibly pregnant. But here are some of the ones where both parties agree to marry without any (or much) external pressure:
Historical:
Convergence of Desire by Felicity Niven: Harry wants to devote her energies to proving Fermat's Theorem (which I now know way too much about) rather than being out in society, and Thomas needs a rich wife, so they decide to marry and Harry even says he can sleep with whoever after they marry..... unfortunately this man is only able to get it up for her soon enough.
Fiona and the Enigmatic Earl by Grace Callaway: Fiona wants to be free to continue her work as a member of an investigative agency, Lady Charlotte's Society of Angels, and Hawk wants to marry but without any emotional entanglements and to continue his spy work, so they agree to a marriage of convenience where neither party will hinder the other.
How the Wallflower was Won by Eva Leigh: After fucking up his sister and best friend's (DOM MFING KILBURN) marriage, Finn needs to marry or he'll be cut off, and Tabitha wants to join an influential intellectual society that only admits married women, and so marriage it is.
The Scot of Mine by Sophie Jordan: Kind of a marriage of convenience? Except the terms aren't laid out super clearly beforehand and Clara's brother does have a hand in the marriage, but this one is too funny to not include. Clara lies about being pregnant to escape marriage to an asshole, but when she's sent to Scotland, she meets Hunt, a laird who has a generational curse on him which means he will die before his heir is born. So Hunt decides to marry her because she's pregnant with someone else's baby so obviously, he won't die!
Except, well, it's a lie, and he finishes inside her multiple times after they're married so........
The Beast of Beswick by Amalie Howard: Astrid proposes marriage to Thane, a scarred misanthrope duke, so that her sister can escape marriage to the man who ruined Astrid's reputation. Thane eventually agrees because he's intensely attracted to her but has no intention of falling in love with her.
The Duchess Deal by Tessa Dare: Another scarred duke, this time in want of a wife that won't faint when she sees him so he can begat heirs; Emma is the seamstress who made his former fiancée's wedding dress and shows up for payment, but Ashbury decides she'll do just fine as a wife.
Worth Any Price Lisa Kleypas: The only male virgin in Kleypas-verse (well at least in the beginning), Nick Gentry is tasked with finding Charlotte on behalf of her family and fiancé, but it turns out the fiancé is, among other things, deffo a groomer so he agrees to marry her to protect her.
Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas: You know the deal with this one; St. Vincent needs to marry a rich heiress since he's about to be cut off and his attempted kidnapping of Lillian failed miserably, and Evie needs to escape her abusive relatives, so off to Gretna Green it is.
Contemporary:
Lush Money by Angelina M Lopez: Prince Mateo agrees to marry billionaire Roxanne and have sex with her three nights a month so she can have a kid in exchange for money for his impoverished country. The resentment in this man is real, not that it stops him from calling her mi mujer and jumping her every 10 seconds. Basically, the only wife guy I condone.
Unfortunately Yours by Tessa Bailey: Natalie and August agree to marry so Natalie can access start-up capital and August can improve his shoddy vineyards. I really loved August's (objectively dumb) no-PiV-sex-until-she-won't-regret-it rule because it actually made the wedding night kinda great, and it also drew out tension until they had no choice but to admit their feelings for one another.
The Harlequin fave Jackie Ashenden very helpfully made a page on her website devoted to all her marriage of convenience books, and yes, I recommend all of them.
Crowning His Lost Princess by Caitlin Crews: Warlord touches down in a Kansas (?) field and announces that this farmer gal was switched at birth, is actually a princess, and that they must marry for political reasons.
Trust Fund Fiancé by Naima Simone: Reagan needs access to her inheritance and proposes a marriage of convenience to her friend Zeke in order to gain access. This one is also technically friends-to-lovers but a really well done one.
*tbh your best bet in terms of modern marriages of conveniences might be harlequins because the stakes feel somewhat high and the tension is real, unlike a lot of contemporary romances which have people marrying to like, inherit a family ski resort or something.

this is the completed stem crew!! they are a group of seventh graders and best friends attending a stem academy in boston. from left to right:
melody young: melody is a sweet, shy, daydreamy chemistry and biology prodigy who loves gardening and sewing, particularly sewing her own clothes and restoring vintage clothes from her grandmother's closet. she was bullied for being so quiet and having unusual, "grandmotherly" hobbies, so she still hesitates to speak in most situations and prefers sharing a quiet space or being alone.
april lowell: april is bright and bubbly and in a huge hurry to grow up. she grew up with uncontrollable seizures that were eventually curbed with deep brain stimulation treatments and wants to be a doctor like the ones who treated her. in addition to medicine, she adores tennis and TV dramas. she is a year younger than her sister, skye, but skipped a grade. april and skye live with miko as her foster sisters.
skye lowell: skye is very nice, very smart, and very determined to keep things stable. having grown up in the foster system with a sick sister, skye hates instability and loves the familiarity of her favorite musicals, the logical proceedings of her engineering projects, and the soothing repetition of roller-skating. she is autistic and very attached to her sister april and eventually her entire foster family.
nanea iosua: nanea is an extremely serious, athletic, and hardworking girl. the daughter of decorated scholars, nanea feels pressured to excel, and dedicates most of her time to her swimming/diving and her mathematical studies. though she thinks little of herself, nanea is a great listener and a reliable friend who deeply cares for others. she can be drawn out of her shell by pro sports and fantasy novels.
miko schwartz-chen: miko is an outgoing, friendly, and energetic girl who wants to do it All. she is especially proficient in coding and computer science, and enjoys sharing her work on social media, along with her dance moves. she is a talented jazz dancer and likes to show off her flexibility and ability to perform complicated choreography. miko can be a little too Online, but she's a fun friend and a great sister to april and skye.
caitlin feldman: caitlin is a strong-willed, clever, and insecure girl trying to come off as confident. she is very hard of hearing, which prompted her parents to focus more on her older siblings' activities, so caitlin overcompensates by being bossy and defensive. she's the student council president and is great at planning and executing events. when allowed to lower her guard, she loves video games and anime.

jealous darling? II l.williamson x reader
★ jealous darling? II l. williamson x reader
your heart swelled with pride whenever you watched your favourite blonde play, especially in those times when the defender had her best moments. there was a magnetic energy about her on the pitch, she was nothing short of extraordinary on the field, a force to be reckoned with in the world of football. her skills were unparalleled, and her determination was unmatched. with a ball at her feet, she gracefully glided across the grass, making every movement seem effortless, yet incredibly precise.
today, she played exceptionally well, making smart passes and moving up the pitch when needed, showcasing her ability in all areas of the sport. you had always enjoyed watching the game from afar, but seeing her play brought an entirely new level of joy towards the english sport. as the match ended with a 4-1 score, you joined the other family of the players on the pitch to celebrate the win. wearing her number and name proudly on your back, you couldn't help but beam as you spotted her jumping up and down with her teammates. her face lit up upon seeing you, and she climbed over the barrier with a large grin that showed her post-match high.
"you were outstanding, as always, williamson," you complimented her as she reached you. her smile widened at your words, but not before telling you off for the replacement of her favourite name, - babe. feeling like you were sorry enough, she leaned in and smashed her lips against yours for a special celebration kiss. "your into the semi's!" you exclaimed joyously, her excitement visible from head to toe. "and you're wearing my shirt," she responded, clearly delighted at your choice of clothing. you giggled at her energy, her gaze never wavered from you, admiration evident on her features.
she pulled you in close to her arms, voice carrying a sense of intimacy that made your stomach flip. "couldn’t have done it without you my girl," she murmured against your lips, her proud smile never doubtful.
"it was all you, my love. I just showed up," you chuckled, reaching up to peck her still red and puffy cheeks. "you played so well." "thankyou," she blushed slightly at your praise, grin never fading as she tucked her head tightly into your shoulder. "did you enjoy the game?" she asked, her eyes searching for any sign that you hadn’t had fun. it was her caring nature that made you love her ten times more.
"always. i love watching you play, leah," you replied and her heart swelled at your confession. ”Cmon, let's get out here.” she whispered into your ear, quickly collecting your stuff and making your way out of the stands.
_____________
the celebrations continued for hours after the game, many of the arsenal crew - including you and leah, had organised to have a gathering in a quiet bar you were all familiar with. unfortunately, this resulted in a lot of alcohol being passed around, which meant the majority of the celebrants were teetering on the edge of full-blown drunkenness, something the blonde wasn’t too fond of participating in the middle of a season.
you found yourself heavily engaged in an intense debate on why spitting on the pitch is a complete ick, between the new ‘it couple’ of the arsenal squad - caitlin & katie. “it’s not on purpose, it just happens.” katie defended, her accent somehow even thicker at the unhealthy amount of alcohol she had consumed throughout the night. revelling in the playful banter you were able to create, you added that “it’s not impossible to not do it," and that you had successfully managed to get your stubborn girlfriend to quit it. amidst the laughter and lively conversation, you felt a pair of familiar hands wrap tightly around your hips.
"leah!" katie greeted her. "have you come to save me from your dreadful girlfriend? I swear all she does is complain." katie joked, jabbing you lightly in the shoulder, which resulted in a glare from you. "she's gorgeous, so watch your mouth miss yellow card." leah retorted, referring to the yellow card the left-winger had received in the game against brighton.
"i'm afraid I have to end your little debate though, sorry girls." katie grabbed caitlin's hand leading them away, but not before brushing passed the blonde, whispering something in her ear. her grip became more and more possessive, as she pulled you even closer into her body. she led you away, pulling you into an empty room, seeking a little bit of quietness, all the loud bar sounds. making it hard for you to hear each other "what's wrong, my love?" you asked, trying to remember what happened during the night, if anything had upset your favourite girl. she held you firmly, arms tightly secured around your waist. "you're mine." she murmured against your neck, her tone possessive yet still loving. "i only want you to celebrate with me.” Her voice carried a subtle pout, eyes fixated on you as though you were her entire world - you were.
"feeling possessive today, are we?" you teased, a mischievous smile playing on your lips. leah made a dismissive noise, clearly unfazed by your sudden brattiness, - she'd deal with that later. “stupid katie," she muttered, peppering soft kisses on your collarbones. "what did she say to you?" you questioned, intrigued at whatever the blonde would say next. "don’t worry about it, not important," she replied, obviously more engaged in making out with your neck, instead of answering you. snd there it was, clear as day, - jealousy. s newfound trait, which intrigued you to try and see how far the girl would go. "jealous, darling?" you teased, your eyes glinting playfully. “it’s baby to you.” she scolded. amused by her sudden possessiveness, you continued to tease her, your grin unwavering. "perhaps you're just jealous because you've never outplayed katie in the midfield," you said, the smile on your face matching your teasing tone.
how much could you wind up the blonde you wondered."you're mine, don’t forget it." she responded simply, a hint of a smirk tugging at her lips.

Rough Flights | AWFC x reader
Summary: whilst on a flight to Australia, you become travel sick and experience the worst flight you’ve ever been on.
Pairings: Leah Williamson x reader, Steph Catley x reader, Caitlin Foord x reader. (Let’s pretend Leah went to Aus)
Word count: 1K
based on a request @wosoamazing gave me for her birthday! 💗
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Leah nudged you gently. "Hey, sleepyhead," she said, her voice soft. "Boarding's about to start."
You blinked, disoriented. How had you dozed off? You’d had a headache since the moment you’d woken up and it had now blurred your senses. you’d slumped against the hard plastic chair and fallen asleep. You mumbled a thanks before standing up.
You were currently on your way to Australia with your Arsenal teammates. An end of season friendly had been arranged and you were one of the few youngsters they were taking with. You weren’t sure if you were even going to go until yesterday morning.
Travel anxiety was always something you’d struggled with and you were anxious about getting sick on the plane. You expressed your feelings to Leah, she was like a sister to you, and she offered to travel with you. Her original plans were to stay in England, to be fit for the England camp, but after hearing how anxious you were she knew she couldn’t let you travel alone.
Boarding the plane was chaos, at one point Kyra thought she’d forgotten her passport. It turned out that Kim had it along with yours. All of the girls were taking photos with the conti cup, something you’d declined not to due to your headache. Steph walked around the plane, getting an update from everyone as she video them for the media team. Your update was boring and about how you were just going to sleep the flight away.
As you settled into your seat next to Leah, exhaustion washed over you. The hum of the engines lulled you into a deep sleep and the world around you was soon forgotten.
Three hours into the twenty-two-hour flight, you woke abruptly, your stomach churning. Nausea twisted your insides, and you clutched your stomach. You groaned into your pillow.
Leah noticed immediately. "You okay, kiddo?" she asked, her hand on your back. "Jet lag hitting you hard?"
You nodded, “I feel so sick…” you murmured, breathing out a deep breath.
"It's okay," Leah whispered. "Breathe. I’m here.”
Your nausea intensified, “I’m gonna be sick!” You exclaimed, sitting up.
Leah grabbed a sickness bag and quickly handed it to you. She climbed through the middle part and leaned down beside your seat in the aisle. Her hand comfortingly rubbed up and down your back.
“You okay, kiddo?” Steph asked, joining Leah by her side, “Travel sickness?”
Leah nodded, “She’s not used to flying, I think it could be. We’re here, y/n.”
You emptied the contents of your stomach and wiped your mouth with a tissue, feeling slightly better after emptying your stomach into the sickness bag.
“I’m so sorry…” You murmured, “You shouldn’t have to deal with this.”
“Hey, hey don’t apologise,” Steph smiles, “it’s okay, we want to be here for you.”
“Can I get you anything, kid?” Caitlin asked.
You managed a weak nod, “Some water, please,” you croaked, your throat raw from the sudden sickness. Caitlin gave a thumbs up and headed towards the cabin crew to fetch you a bottle of water.
Leah continued to rub your back, her presence a comforting constant in the chaos of your discomfort. “Just focus on breathing, in and out,” she instructed gently. You followed her advice, taking slow, deep breaths which helped settle the queasiness slightly.
The plane hummed steadily, a reminder that you were still hours away from your destination. You leaned back in your seat, closing your eyes and trying to focus on anything but the nausea. Leah stayed by your side, her hand never leaving your back.
After a few minutes, Caitlin returned with a bottle of water and a sympathetic smile. “Here you go,” she said as she handed it to you. “Small sips.”
You took the bottle with a grateful smile and sipped the cool water, feeling it soothe your throat. The rest of the flight passed in a blur of sleep and occasional bouts of nausea, but with Leah and your teammates’ support, you managed to make it through.
The rest of the flight felt like a test. You spent most of your time trying to sleep, with Leah's jacket wrapped around you due to your shivers. Every now and then, you'd wake up, either due to turbulence or another wave of nausea, but Leah was always there, ready with a comforting word or a glass of water.
In between bouts of sleep, you managed to watch your favourite movie, Notting hill but even once that was over there were still a good few hours to go.
Leah suggested listening to some music or watching another movie to distract yourself. You tried both, finding that focusing on something else helped keep the nausea at bay. You even managed to laugh at some stupid jokes Kyra was telling.
As the hours ticked by, you started to feel a bit better. The headache that had been plaguing you since morning began to fade, and with it, the nausea seemed less intense. You were even able to join in when some of your teammates started a card game.
By the time the captain announced that you were preparing for landing, you were feeling almost normal. The flight had been tough, but you'd made it through with the help of your friends and teammates. Now, you were just looking forward to getting off the plane and stretching your legs on solid ground.
The Australian sun was warm on your skin. You followed Leah like a little duckling through the airport, feeling a mix of relief and excitement to finally be on solid ground.
Customs and baggage claim went by in a blur, and before you knew it, you were on the team bus heading towards the hotel. The cityscape of Sydney passed by the windows, you tried to take in as much as you could but a dull headache stopped you from doing so.
Once at the hotel, you checked in and headed straight for your room. You were sharing with Leah. As soon as you entered your room, you headed straight for the bathroom. You took a long shower and refreshed yourself, trying to make yourself feel normal after the sickness spell you’d suffered.
In your room, Leah fussed over hou. She fluffed pillows, adjusted blankets, and tucked you in. "Rest," she said. "You need it."
You closed your eyes, the room spinning a little, before finally dozing off to sleep and forgetting the world around you.
