Do you mind sharing the game/system that you played Jabber in? I'm in a monthly rp group and we're not shy to trying different systems out.

The game we played is called Fiasco- it's a GM-less game for 3-5 players and is basically a cooperative storytelling game where you come up with characters, work out the relationships they have together and other stuff to help flesh them out using dice rolls and a playbook of options to allocate the numbers to, and then act out a sort of caper-gone-wrong type of story together with those characters. It's meant to be played as a one-shot game but in my friend group we tend to take about 2-3 sessions to finish a story bc we like to take our sweet time to play around with the characters. XD ;

It can be played with custom playbooks (basically if you want a specific type of genre/setting you can make one to fit that), the one we used was a custom toon playbook for a Who Framed Roger Rabbit-style setting (basically humans and toons coexisting in the same world) that @mysticdoodles made (and I helped with some ideas for it! :D)

This is a long one.

March 31st is the transgender day of visibility, so I thought I'd make a post about it. This one is going up a little bit late.

Outside of Tumblr, I never made a public post saying that I'm transgender, and not with my face attached. That changed yesterday.

This is something that has been a part of who I am, pretty much as long as I can remember. My earliest solid memory is feeling distressed because a family friend insisted to me "you're going to grow up to be just like your dad!" When I was 4 years old. This distressed me because, to me, even at the age of 4, it didn't feel right. I thought I'd grown up to be like my mom.

These feelings didn't go away, and were something I constantly suppressed. Most of my friends in school for a long time were girls. I was ridiculed, name-called, and physically abused most of my life. By bullies at school, and by my dad at home.

Eventually, I moved away. I started a new career after finishing college. I met my wonderful partner, now my spouse, and I slowly became comfortable enough to process the things that I had spent too long keeping locked away.

It's been a long journey so far, I'm in the middle of the ride. I don't regret anything. I'm the happiest I've ever been, I feel like the person I had to lock away and hide to protect myself as a kid has finally been able to flourish.

It is completely okay to question who you are and to come back with the result of "yeah, I'm still just the person I was", that's absolutely valid. It is also okay to be so solid on your knowledge of self that you never question it and have comfort in the reflection you see. You are valid, you are worthy of love.

To those that are still closeted or questioning; those that feel like they aren't worthy of the love they need to be themselves: you are valid. I love you.

Do something kind for someone, if you're able.

Please, love yourself, love your neighbors, love your friends.

What follows is a bit of a photo timeline:

2016, after moving away from family and starting a new career. I spent a lot of time listening to music and staring at the ceiling wondering why I felt empty all the time and didn't have any joy in my life.

2018: I'd started dating my spouse, came out to them and a couple very close friends as transgender, and started experimenting with being clean faced, having longer hair, and wearing earrings again. This was one of the first selfies where I didn't entirely dislike how I looked.

Late 2022:

I'd had some major setbacks. Two close friends I'd come out to and had some early support from sadly passed away due to some tragedy I won't go into.

Mid 2023: I took this as a baseline picture after finally getting an appointment scheduled for HRT. This was the best smile I could muster.

Mid 2024: my spouse @caelean and I got married. I'm slowly seeing the person I am inside reflected in the mirror, smiles come more easily.

March 2025: my first time going to an even fully out as myself to meet people that only know me as the person I am now, or as my username (Tako).

Whisper Wells by Ali Woods

Whisper Wells is the first in an upcoming series called "Legends of the Whisper Woods" by Ali Woods. It's a romantasy debut novel set in a world that feels contemporary (cars and cellphones exist) but beings of all kinds (witches, vampires, dragons, centaurs...) are real. Some magical beings have integrated into human society, but many live secluded within a vast woodland known as Whisper Woods. The two main characters are Caelan and Tor. Caelan is part-Shifter (but mostly human) and lives in a homestead on the edge of Whisper Wells, a small town that borders Whisper Woods. Tor is Fae and lives in the large city of Loqueaur. Caelan and Tor meet on a dating app and develop a meaningful friendship until a disappearance brings the two together on a journey into Whisper Woods.

The story is light and reminds me a little of the cozy fantasy books I've read. There is that mystery but nothing is too dark and the stakes are low overall. The spice level, however, is high! Caelan and Tor are smitten with each other from the beginning and the story mostly focuses on their developing relationship as they adventure through the various perils of Whisper Woods.

The story is also filled with a host of really great characters. Tor and Caelean are, of course, fantastic, but they also encounter a lot of other fun characters during their journey. Towards the end of the book, there is even some potential setup of Book Two with two of the supporting characters!

Whisper Wells is perfect for any m/m romance fans who are looking for a lighter, fluffier story with a quest-style plot and great characters. The book is enjoyable, smutty, and funny. The main relationship is charming and has a lot of depth and emotion along with the spice. The ending is satisfying and the setup for future books left me excited to read all upcoming additions to the series. I'm especially hoping for a future book about Seff!

If you liked this I think you will like Whisper Wells: I think fans of Lily Mayne's "Monstrous" series will enjoy this. It reminded me a little of Soul Eater but with a cozy fantasy background instead of a sci-fi dystopia background.

TREAT! Here's another character from my "new" WIP, Neon Squad, coming soon to a blog near you!

Here's Caelean "Cael" Washington, the little brother to Max! Cael is the only member of the Neon Squad under the age of 18. He is bonded to the Ice strain of Neon, the most common strain and generally considered the "safest" for "recreational use". Cael's superhuman abilities are related to art, and they can create some of the most hyperrealistic images (like to the point you might accidentally walk into a door they've painted). His eyesight is also incredible when compared to the average person, which contributes to the art.

In this post the "control" is split evenly down the middle. Are there any instances like a chimera where one twin's cells are on the other twin's half and vice versa? Could the nervous system act chimera-like and cause sense of touch for one twin that's not on their half?

They can’t really be chimeric for real because they are identical twins and there’s literally no difference between their respective cells besides which brain they report to. Their nervous systems don’t cleanly end right at the edge of a perfect middle split, so I guess the answer to the second question is a slight yes? There’s some overlap in sensation along the middle line because the respective nervous systems can overlap, intertwine, and dual activate. But a great deal of their bodies are quite black and white about which brain feels what.
