DESTINYTOBER: Day 12 - Create
Read it on AO3
. . .
Ylenna hunched over a half-assembled exo-form. She'd acquired the frame from the Braytech laboratories, an early model more akin to a test dummy than a human body. An unsuitable environment for a consciousness used to the fine-grain sensory inputs of a biological form, but a good introduction to bipedal life for someone accustomed to a body on the scale of a small planet.
"What next, Captain?" asked Failsafe, optics keenly tracking Ylenna's movements despite her inability to move otherwise. On all sides of her torso, disarticulated limbs and a rainbow of wires were laid out in a manner that might have been gruesome if not for the doll-like simplicity of her form.
"Pull up schematics for upper limb assembly."
Momentarily, optics flickered in concentration. "Done! First things first. Attach the data and power cables from the arm into the socket within the shoulder joint."
Ylenna shook her hands, attempting to work ou the nervous tremors. She slotted the connectors into their ports, breathing a relieved sigh when she felt them click into place without resistance. "How's that?"
Though the arm was still physically detached, she flexed her hand. "Seems to be working! Now, we can work on attaching the articulator . . . there's no need to sweat so much, you're doing great!"
"I'll be glad when I have a second pair of hands to help me."
"We won't get there if I don't have arms," she groused in flat affect.
"Uh-huh, uh-huh." She cracked her neck, letting go of some of the tension. "I just want to be careful with you. I won't forgive myself if I mess this up."
"I'm remoting in from a crashed exodus ship. The only way you can mess this up is if you hurl my body into the side of a planet at terminal velocity." Her voice brightened. "Do you want a kiss for encouragement~?"
Ylenna nodded, and leaned in, the glow of Failsafe's orange optics filling her vision as she pressed her lips to the warm silicone.

We Who Are Far From Home, ch. 7: Bree 5
Hair loose, wearing nothing but a blouse, Bree bounced up and down on her toes, recalibrating herself, feeling the way this body moved. She was far more Coda's work now than Nost's or her own. But Coda's work was always good. Light. Fast. Really absurd quality for domestic automatons, if not quite up to the standards of a mage who made of herself a war machine.
She thought that it wasn't Lyric's body that stopped it from being the divine hero of the Kingdom. Not that she could really blame it. It found another role and fit perfectly into it and she couldn't tell herself now that she wasn't the right doll for the job after all…
Focus, Bree. Collect those thoughts and line them up, biggest to smallest. Goal: protect the Kingdom. Strategic objective: head off the next war. Tactical objective: deny the Crimson Fist their kill. Cover story: doll maid. Next step: put on the damn dress.
She held it up, loosened the ties, pulled the thing over her head. Felt weird. She checked the mirror. It was the wrong way around and now her blouse was bunched up. She pulled it off again, smoothed the blouse, rotated the dress, shrugged herself back into it, froze.
"Are you done in there?" Zai shouted through the dressing room's door. "I need a uniform too!"
"I'm. Uh." She shouldn't have looked in the mirror. That had been a mistake. The dress, even the body, they could have been a costume, but now they were her. First look: a slim brunette, not that different from the body she was born in, but terminally mousy and wan. Second look: she refocused, saw hard angles and precise curves and ball joints, but not the ball joints she was used to—
"Not waiting any longer." Zai barged in. The spy rustled through the small closet next to the mirror, pulled a warm brown and decorously ruffled dress the near-twin of Bree's, hung it on a hook as she began hunting for undergarments. "Something wrong?"
"Everything," Bree said, miserably.
"No. Be specific."
"I can't! It's my whole damn me!"
"Doesn't matter. Job to do. Look the part, worry about the rest on your own time." She flicked calm dark eyes over Bree, sniffed. "Also, you forgot your corset, and your petti, and," she gestured to the cabinet full of various compact metal horrors on the other side of the mirror, "about half of what you need for the real job."
Zai undid the neck-string of her nightdress and dropped it to her feet with a shrug. She dismissed her boxers with a tug of thumb over hip and let those fall to the floor on top of the nightdress, then kicked the whole pile into a laundry bin with an apparently practiced foot.
"Take all that off. Get dressed with me, do exactly what I do, and then at least blending won't be a problem."
Bree kept staring at herself, but it was a small room, with a large mirror.
Zai took it otherwise, smirking. "Nothing you haven't seen before, lady-killer. Come on. Fresh panties. Catch," she said, tossing Bree a pair from an open drawer.
Bree boggled from the sheer absurdity of it. "I don't need panties, Zai. I don't piss, I don't sweat, I don't have a period, I don't even get wet unless my Owner…" — and that was a thing that surfaced unpleasantly like a shark in a hot spring; when did she start thinking that word with a capital O — "…presses a button for it."
Zai glared. "Aren't we fancy. Put your damn panties on, because Lady Emmerline's maidservants don't go around not wearing underwear, dolls or not."
"Fine!" She pulled them on.
"Good. Stay with me. Stockings. Thigh holsters, both sides, left side steel, right side alkalium, three blades each, well clear of the stockings and don't forget which metal's where. Slip. Braided cable whip. Wear that looped around your waist, you'll pull the petti up under it, dress has a buttoned flap in each hip pocket for when you need to pull it out…"
Bree dutifully followed Zai's directions, putting each undergarment and each weapon on as Zai did the same.
"Corset. Actually, first, here, help me with mine. Just pull this a little tighter and tie it off. Okay, good, tight enough. Petticoat. Hand me that back scabbard, and one of those short swords. And the tube next to it."
"What's that?"
"Blowgun. Not every problem is nice enough to happen inside throwing knife range, and there's no way I could fit an actual bow in this and still be able to bend. No point you taking one, though, you barely have lungs." Zai checked herself approvingly in the mirror, white foundation garments strapped over with dark leather and metal, then over at Bree. "Want a slingshot or something?"
"Oh! No. I mean yes. I mean, I have one already. Spring-driven pellet-thrower. Nost put it in yesterday when she added the seals." Bree tapped the port cover in her left palm. "It's no tethered-harpoon cannon, but it's something."
"You still have the soulcatcher too," Zai pointed out.
"Yeah, without the mycelial conduits or the mana furnace that made it work halfway usefully in my usual body. It's one shot and it won't work on anyone healthy."
"It's one shot that they won't expect," the spy said, as if dealing with a particularly dim student. She started wriggling into the uniform dress, pausing a few times to make sure her personal arsenal didn't snag. "Use everything you can get. What's left in the cabinet?"
Bree prodded a heavy waxed twill bag on the bottom shelf. "Just the showstopper dust."
"Give me two of the small bags. I don't have your arm strength. You take the big ones."
"Where am I meant to put these?" Bree said, her un-tweaked voice box completely failing to convey any of the frustration she felt. Had her old body really been this small and weaponless? How had she gotten anything done?
She looked at herself in the mirror. Slim brunette, mousy and wan. Dress fit, at least, now that she had it on properly. Easy to move in. Easy to perform her household duties — what household, Bree, you're here to stop an assassination — cooking, cleaning, serving drinks and snacks to her Owner and her Owner's guests, perhaps learning to sew from Zai in her downtime. Zai had made both sets of uniforms; she was quite the seamstress, a talented role model…
Bree. Bree what the fuck. You're not really a maid any more than Zai is. That's just the bindings talking.
An idea. Bree unbuttoned the top two buttons of her crisp white blouse and reached inside. "Zai," she asked, "opinions?"
"Hm. If you can pop those buttons quickly, should be fine. Turn sideways," Zai said thoughtfully, then, "Tighten the corset, you're sagging. Wait, faster if I do it." The spy's hands worked deftly behind Bree's back. "Better."
Bree faced the mirror again. Slim brunette, mousy and wan, dress fitted very closely over a carefully concealed set of weapons capped off by what had to be a good four or five kilos of carefully packaged showstopper dust padding out her corset.
"Yes," she whispered. "Better."
"Your usual body doesn't have those," her fellow "maid" pointed out. "More like the one before this one?"
"Nah, never really had much to work with there. I think… it's just that I can change something. Back in the Academy, new hair color every month, new piercing every year, little optical glamors going more often than not. But just now, hells, I was starting to think that all this was just my Owner's body. The service compulsions had me pretty hard."
Zai's face flickered with surprise, confusion, disgust.
"Is this going to be a problem, Bree?"
"Maybe. I don't know."
"You beat them before."
"Yeah."
"You built the compulsions."
"I built part of them. Joint effort, me and Coda."
"You took orders pretty well, just now."
"Yes. That helped. A lot. Thank you. I feel like I'll be okay getting dressed and gearing up tomorrow morning, it's just, the mirror was a surprise–"
"An order for you, then," Zai said, voice hard. "You think you can't do this, any time, you tell me, we scrub, we get out. You are the strongest of us, even in that body. We need you thinking like you. I am not," she added, "losing the irreplaceable Bree the Blessed, Savior of the Summer Capital, Hero of the Arbor Pass, Secret Shield of the Kingdom, to some back-alley doll sorcery gone wrong because we tried to pull an undercover job and she went weird on me. We can leave. Tell me and we will. That's an order."
"Yes, Zai, I will tell you," she blurted, instantly, and knew that she would.
A bell tingled outside the servants' quarters.
"Where are my lovely handmaidens, then?" Emmerline called, her voice booming and jovial.
The sheer Emmerline of the moment broke something's horrible hold on her. "She's going to be absolutely insufferable with that thing for the entire time we're here," Bree said.
"That's the most normal sentence I've heard you say all morning," Zai muttered. "And there are how many like you? Wish the Service had kept an eye on this Coda."

CyberGwen: Jumpoff Point
Ship: Gwen/Miles Summary: Not every universe has superpowers - but they all have heroes. Prototypical.
The Spider Man franchise is as of time of writing owned by Sony, Disney, and Marvel. This fan-fiction was written for personal amusement. It is set in an alternate historical universe. Divergences in history, technology, and built infrastructure are objects of merriment rather than cause for alarm. Additional artistic liberties are present for narrative purposes.
=/=
1: "Jumpoff Point"
From her perch atop the vast concrete bulk of the parking garage, Gwen Stacy stared into the night. Behind her, a forest of sodium lamps bathed the NeoSuezmax ships, gantry cranes, and container stacks of the expansive Raritan Bay container terminal complex in an eerie orange glow - and turned the sky above a dull blood red. Before her - perfectly illuminated by light pollution - Staten Island sprawled, a bleak industrial landscape of truck lots, low industrial buildings, and warehouses stretching from the boundaries of the port to the hulking Manchurian War Memorial Parkway.
“I guess we won’t be needing these, huh?” Beside her, Miles Morales fiddled with the straps on his night vision goggles before flipping them up and away, seemingly satisfied.
“If you want to accidentally shoot me in the face, sure.” Gwen raised her binoculars, and centered them on their target - a run-down steel-roofed warehouse in a barren lot.
The lanky Brooklynite shrugged. “Sorry… I mean, I…”
“Control, this is Ghost One. No activity. We are go.” Gwen barked into her microphone.
A chorus of affirmatives came in over the radio.
She turned to Miles, who withered under her gaze. “I’m sorry about…”
Gwen winced. I didn’t mean to… “I was kidding, Miles. You’re doing great. Just… keep those goggles on, okay.”
She donned her mask, harnessed her battledress to the rappelling cable, stepped over the ledge, and pushed the release. A dozen stories of concrete carpark flew past before she hit the brakes, landing on the ground with a thud.
Miles took a deep breath, rubbed his palms, and followed her down, forcing down vomit as he kept his eyes on the ground.
“A decade of counterinsurgency in Montreal and Buenos Aires and they still haven’t smoothed out that landing.” Miles grouched as they sprinted past rows of trucks and under a cyclone fence. Astride them, a pair of spiders - big Norinco military models twice their height - rolled noiselessly into position atop eight jointed wheels, their turrets bristling with autocannon and grenade launchers.
Gwen drew her machine-pistol, and shouldered the folding stock. Miles checked his automatic shotgun, loaded to the gills with taser rounds.
More shapes - rovers, tankettes, and battledress-clad gendarme - emerged from the darkness as they approached the warehouse, and Gwen frowned as the soft whine of an octocopter pierced the night. “Control, move your drones; you’ll wake up half the neighborhood.”
The rusty chain-link fence fell away where it had been cut earlier, and the warehouse loomed large before them.
A steel door opened into the night, and a man screamed in alarm before Gwen put a burst through his chest.
“Peni, cut ‘em loose!”
Streams of grenades, trailing gas, arced across the lot, through windows, and into the aluminum-sided structure as the spiders opened up.
A flash, a bang, and they were inside. Gwen put bursts into two men in respirators clutching their eyes, while Miles unloaded taser shells into wheezing, retching shapes. A single insurgent in flash goggles raised his muzzle towards Gwen - and exploded in a spray of autocannon fire. More shots rang out as the Agency assault teams fanned out through the warehouse, passing stacks of food and water, three dozen mattresses, and cases full of small arms and ammunition.
“Thanks for the overwatch, Peni.”
“Anytime, guys. Sorry about the drones.” Peni said.
“We live and learn, Peni.” Gwen intoned. “Is this what we thought it was?”
“Well, we have a dozen perps, a cache of small arms, and what looks like a planning space. So far, we’ve gotten facial recognition off two of our prisoners, and yes, they’re both from Quebec. Mostly matches our intelligence on the target.”
“There are forty cots here; we’re missing almost thirty bad guys.” Gwen observed.
Miles whistled. “Gwen, check this out!”
He leaned into a white twelve-meter container, pockmarked with autocannon scars and blackened with soot. “This setup is good. Look, you’ve got your low-field MRI, compact biochem-and-hemat diagnostics suite, general anesthetic support… there’s a whole surgical suite in here.”
“It’s… a mobile medical trailer. The sort they use for emergency response, military field hospitals, and charity cases.” She frowned. Where the heck had they gotten one of those? “Where’s the microbiology kit?”
Miles inspected the blackened pile of scrap plastic and metal that had once housed a multiplex PCR assay, automated culture panel, and spectrometer. “Autocannon shell maybe?”
Gwen shook her head. “No, look at the scorch marks. They burned this before we got here.” She glanced around the container. “Computer’s gone too.”
“Well, if you were doing plastic surgery to avoid facial recognition software, I’m pretty sure you’d want your medical records pretty thoroughly deleted too.” He looked around the room. “This stuff seems pretty expensive for your run-of-the-mill terrorist.”
“We’ll get forensics to pack everything up. Whatever’s going on, it’s big.” Gwen sighed as she glanced at her watch. “Crap. Subway’ll be closed by the time we’re done with this.”
Miles gulped. “Maybe… you could crash at my place? It’s a straight shot down the highway from here…”
Gwen tilted her head.
He took a step back. “Just crash! I have a fold-out sofa-bed for guests! Or I could drive by your place and drop you off!”
Gwen’s expression softened. “Miles, it’s fine. Crashing at your place would be great. I could really use the extra rest.” She gave him a reassuring squeeze. “Thank you.”

CLIFFFORD.EXE INITIALISING... WELCOME BACK AV0N.
Avon's eyes snapped open, staring up towards the facility's cubist ceiling. He could feel his body was heavy and unable to move from its position. Beside Avon, a juggernaut began to breathe, deeply and slowly- but it, too, didn't move an inch.
He was awake. He was alive again... but how long had it been? The last thing he could remember was his creator running for his life with his violent clones following him, doing whatever they could to protect him from his attackers. The gun fire. The screams. The maniacal laughter from his creator. The yelling of a man and woman who were chasing after him.
Avon runs a few scans over himself, checking for any failures in his operating system. Everything seems to be in perfect operation. His body starts to warm up again, offering him some limited movement. Just out of reach are his colourful glasses, sitting there in pristine condition. There's a thick veil of dust resting on them. A notification appears, notifying Avon that he is fully charged. With some effort, Avon rips the charging cable out of the wall and retracts the connector back into his wrist.
It doesn't take long for alerts to go off in Avon's vision. The system detects the sound of footsteps, coming down the silo corridors. Slowly. Quietly. He reaches out again for his glasses, finally managing to grab them from the cold floor.
"Sooooo I'm just hacking into those terminals, and then the payload will destroy the rest of CLIFFFORD, right?" Speaks a voice, echoing through the missile silo corridor. Avon manages to find the momentum to forcibly sit up, his body creaking as he listens into the conversation. "Right, but there's these creepy big guys that have mini-guns? Like, should I destroy them too? They're breathing all weird, and it's a bit creepy."
The footsteps stop. Clearly the stranger is listening to whoever is talking to them, waiting for some instructions. After a few seconds, the person continues to make their way into the facility. Now, they're in the same room as Avon. He forces himself up and off the ground, despite his stiff joints, and attempts to hide. He can't see the stranger.
"What? So do I just... shoot them? Did Pete have to deal with these things too?" Avon peeks over the railing, watching the stranger approach another one of the juggernauts. He's wearing heavy bulletproof gear, but no helmet, so he can clearly see the guys face. Soft ginger hair, with one of those fancy, curly moustaches. The ones you'd see old Victorian men wear. He's also wearing a blue shade of eyeshadow, which Avon finds strange for a man whose purpose is to explore the facility. The man pokes at the breathing machine, jolting back in fear as the Juggernaut moves. With a nervous sigh, the man takes a few steps back and begins to fire at the machine. Avon is horrified as he watches his larger counterpart take the bullets, unresponsive to the damage its taking.
It then collapses, dropping its weaponry as it comes crashing to the ground. The man, clearly relieved, continues to make his way to the second floor.
If this stranger sees Avon, he'll kill him immediately. There is no doubt about it. He has to leave. Now. Avon watches the man, who's standing there, tapping his feet on the ground as he waits for his phone to download the remnants of CLIFFFORD off the servers computer.
Eventually, Avon reaches the start of the nuclear silo. He steps forward, nervously watching for the stranger in the distance. The long, terrifying corridor scares him.
Avon very quietly stands up from his hiding place and begins to move his way over to the silo entry. He watches the stranger closely, making sure he doesn't get spotted by them. He doesn't want to be shot at. He doesn't want to die. His body creaks as he quietly makes his way towards the only exit he knows. The nuclear silo.
An alarm begins to blare out, causing Avon to flinch.
the remaining few juggernauts spring to life. Their targets immediately target onto Val. There's the sound of mechanical screeching, followed along by the frantic yelling of the mysterious stranger. Avon can't make out what they're yelling over the sound of rapid gunfire.
All he knows is that eventually, the gunfire begins to move closer to the silo tunnel. The sound of machines screaming in agony as the mysterious stranger takes each one out bit by bit. He has to leave, make a run for it however he can.
Avon steps out as the gunfire comes closer. There's the rushing of footsteps-
Avon crashes immediately into the stranger, causing them to trip over and come crashing to the ground. Avon manages to catch himself from falling, stabilising himself before glancing towards the stranger.
It's immediate, but the stranger points his rifle at Avon. There's fear in their eyes. He's scared he's not going to survive this close encounter with any of the machines.
For Avon? He's scared he's going to get shot. This stranger would destroy him as he has his larger, tank-like equivalents. A human sign of surrender, other than a white flag, is putting your hands up. Avon does this, shutting his eyes tight as he's ready to embrace the sudden end to his life.
Nothing happens. Avon opens his eyes to see the man staring back at him.
"You're not like them." The stranger pants, keeping his weapon pointed at Avon. Avon can't even speak, quietly shaking his head in response to the stranger. There's the heavy stomping feet coming from behind Avon, the sign of more juggernauts on their way to cause misery for the pair of them.
"You might be useful to them. Come with me. I promise I'll keep you safe." He speaks. Clearly, there's some frantic yelling in the strangers ear, forcing him to rip the earpiece out. Avon's too nervous to take the strangers hand. After all, he did have a gun pointed towards him, and this stranger has killed numerous of his tank-like counterparts.
There's no argument about it. The man snatches Avon's hand and guides him down the silo corridor as the machines slowly follow.
Avon doesn't know who this man is, but all he knows is that he's leaving the silo. Exactly what he wanted.

My idea for a potential DEATH BATTLE! #6
2023, October 31, November 10, 21, 24, 27
FIFTH POST
MASTER LIST
Trunks Briefs vs The Luminary (Dragon Ball vs Dragon Quest)
The time-traveling swordsmen sworn to protect the future are here!
Fighter 1: Trunks Briefs, Dragon Ball's hopeful hero of the future.
Fighter 2: The Luminary, Dragon Quest's Eleventh hero and prince of Dundrasil.
Wiz: Even if the future is destroyed and the world is in danger, there will always be even the smallest semblance of hope.
*insert clips of Terminator's John Connor, Sonic's Silver The Hedgehog, Fire Emblem's Lucina, Marvel Comics' Cable/Nathan Summers*
Boomstick: Especially if you're created by Akira Toriyama, can travel through time, and wield a cool sword. Just don't bring the threats with you, please. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.
Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win... a Death Battle.
PREFACE: This will likely be my last post about these ideas for the year unless I want it to be. My apologies if I get anything wrong regarding the character's personalities and arsenals. For the MU, the Luminary's pool of spells will be that of DQ11:Elusive Age and not from Smash Bros. Ultimate and he will not be fighting with his party. I will also be more-or-less using a composite Trunks from both Z and Super.
WHY:
Connections:
1. Both are created by Akira Toriyama
2. Both are swordsmen and have a variety of techniques that stem from a pool of limited life energy (Ki and Mana respectively).
3. Both traveled to the past to save their world and family from disaster (Trunks wanted to save his world, family, and loved ones from Dr. Gero's creations, and the Luminary wanted to save Veronica who sacrificed her life as the World Tree fell) only to bring their villains to the past with them to reclaim a lost power as Cell killed Trunks for the time machine since the Cyborgs/Androids were in the past and Darkling Calasmos followed the Luminary into the past in order to recover his body. I am very sure Toriyama made Calasmos look like Cell; insect-like design with what looks like wings on his back, shades of green that look like Cell's, black and smooth-looking shapes that adorn the upper chest, and Calasmos' joints look like Cell's joints due to the fabric-like or rugged look.
4. Both have enhanced states (Super Saiyan and Pep respectively)
5. Both are the sons of royalty (Trunks is the son of Prince Vegeta, and the Luminary is the Prince of Dundrasil)
Personal reasons: When I saw Black Adam vs Apocalypse's next time and saw Trunks, I was hoping that the Luminary would be his opponent since Brandon Yates' "Echoes of the Future" engrained this MU into my brain, and upon seeing Silver, I was disappointed (until I saw that they were going to use Xeno Trunks and Archie Silver). So, I wanted to give this idea a shot. I also thought that this is one of the best ways to introduce Dragon Quest to the series due to how mainstream Luminary/Eleven is compared to everyone except Slime, who is the face of the series.
THE FIGHT:
Art and animation: The dream is to have the legendary DevilArtemis animate this fight, and if Frieza vs Megatron is an indicator, it would look so cool! Especially the Ki attacks, magic spells, and transformations. The models do exist: Xenoverse models for Trunks and Luminary's model from Dragon Quest 11 and even Smash Bros. Dragon Quest is not as popular in the West when compared to Japan, but considering how well-received Hero was when he was announced for Smash, enough hype could be stirred up so as to pour more resources into the project. If it ends up 2D, the animation would be that of Xeno Trunks vs Archie Silver but with slightly better sword attack animations. HOWEVER, if this episode forms part of a season like Season 10, where even though the season starts in May or later, every episode is lovingly crafted with stellar animation, excellent voice acting (not sure if it would apply to the Luminary), and fantastic music, then this episode would have dreamy 3D animation (and considering what I have in mind, it's best that it's 3D).
Possible setup: The camera pans over a city in the process of being destroyed; there is a lot of fire and smoke, buildings are toppling, and there are giant mechanical monsters roaming the streets. Trunks arrives outside of town in his mother's time machine and hides it in a forest nearby next to a giant and eerily glowing sprout. He exits the machine and enters town quickly. Seeing the machines causing destruction and killing innocents, he gets to work literally cutting them down to size. The innocents that he saves cheer for him and he gives a thumbs up. He works his way to the main road where the Luminary is fighting the mechanical army. After defeating the living machines, the Luminary and Trunks meet, but before words are exchanged, they are ambushed by more robots.
FIGHT! :
1. Trunks and the Luminary start to slice the metal army again. Trunks uses basic Ki blasts and his less powerful Ki techniques while Luminary uses Sizz, Frizz, and Flame Slash. Feeling a little mischievous, the Luminary uses some spells on Trunks in an attempt to slow him down. Trunks reciprocates, throwing his own ranged attacks.
2. Luminary dodges and so they continue for a short, with Trunks using his weaker Ki techniques and Luminary using his aforementioned spells until Luminary gets a lucky shot (like a Critical Hit) on Trunks. Trunks decides to kick it up a notch and goes Super Saiyan, using stronger attacks and techniques. Luminary notices and decides to use Accelerate and switches his sword and shield for a greatsword, and so both are tearing through the bots like a round of Dynasty Warriors or Hyrule Warriors, sometimes going at each other.
3. They clash swords and some stronger ranged attacks cancel each other out. Trunks flies in and damages the Luminary quickly, who tries to hit Trunks with skills like Helichopter, but misses. So, he switches to two one-handed swords and uses Sword Stance, parrying, blocking, and attempts to get his own hits in with Sword Dance. Once Accelerate wears off, Trunks is able to rush Luminary somewhat easily. The Luminary goes more on the defensive but his speed and agility cannot let him keep up, resorting to Kaclang for momentary immunity to damage and then using Pep Up. It allows him to keep up with the half-Saiyan and even damage him with more Critical Hits.
4. The Luminary keeps up the pressure with his Gigaslash and Zapple spells. However, he's starting to tire himself out a bit as the Pep wears off, his mana running a little low. Trunks notices that his foe is a little winded and rushes him fast and hard, trying to end the fight fast. However, an explosion is heard and both turn to face it. The camera closes into their shocked faces as the explosion originated from the spot where Trunks hid the time machine and where the Yggdrasil root was located. They rush their way to it, Luminary using the opportunity to use Fullheal and a mana-restoring item.
5. When they arrive, the town explodes fully, leaving nothing behind. They travel to the past, to the moment the invasion begins. They start taking care of business fast. They are so effective that a giant robot drops in front of them with a giant impact. It... It's green and looks like a giant bug... They look at it and shock covers their faces, for the foe is creepily similar to the monsters they inadvertently helped to become stronger. This must be the big boss bot.
6. Trunks rushes in, trying to come up with a plan, but Luminary, having switched to a greatsword, uses Gigasmash, hurting Trunks and several enemies in the vicinity. Trunks decides to use his Burning Attack while Luminary uses Kasizz, resulting in a giant explosion that, unfortunately, doesn't leave the big bot with not even a scratch. Said bot starts to lunge and attack them, but both are able to dodge it. That is, until, it starts to use projectiles like lasers, bombs, missiles, and such. It spams so much that both are sent flying in opposite directions and crash onto the ground.
7. The bot army takes advantage of the weakened warriors and tries to swarm them. Luminary uses Greatsword Guard, parrying the attacks, and then cuts them down. Trunks cuts down the enemies like he did to Frieza's mooks. Both see an opening and decide to take it; the Luminary and Trunks start to slice the bot repeatedly in sync and then blast it with a Burning Attack and Kasizz (think of how Trunks killed Frieza) and they reduce the bot's size so much. This angers the big bot so much that it regrows its limbs like Cell and unleashes a giant energy blast that overwhelms both warriors, the Luminary switching to a one-handed sword and shield, trying to protect himself, but they are cheered on by the villagers and residents of the town.
8. Unwilling to give up, Trunks transforms into Super Saiyan Rage, and the Luminary becomes pepped up naturally. Trunks channels the hopes and energies of everyone into the sword to become the Sword of Hope while the Luminary charges up his Blade of Ultimate Power. With determination, they attempt one final attack: Trunks flies up high and Luminary uses Zoom, and as they come down, they slash the bot and each other in a one-stroke duel like Zoro vs Erza or Obi-Wan vs Kakashi.
9. The battle ends with the bot and one of the two combatants being sliced in half and disintegrated in a flash of light and an explosion, except the weapons of the lose, be it Trunks' sword or the Luminary's sword and shield, would not be completely destroyed. However, there is no hatred or remorse. All they feel is gratitude towards their opponent for fighting alongside them to protect innocent people, reminding them of how important hope is and how they need to be careful when time traveling.
10. Shortly before they leave, they take the sword and jab it in the ground, like the sword in the stone or the Master Sword from Zelda. If Trunks wins, the Luminary's sword stands in front of the Yggdrasil root, with the shield standing with the sword. If the Luminary wins, then he does the same with Trunks' sword in front of the Capsule Corp. time machine. They then returned to the future, bidding farewell to the villagers that have come to say goodbye and to pay respect to the fallen savior.
11. KO!
RESULT:
Strengths and weaknesses:
Trunks:
+ Physically stronger and faster.
+ Flight allows for greater mobility.
+ Has stronger and faster ranged options with his Ki attacks.
+ Longer lasting transformations.
+ Ki sensing could likely help him find the Luminary, countering any potential stealth.
≥ Likely has the better swordplay training.
- Becomes tired once Super Saiyan wears off and cannot immediately transform again.
Luminary:
+ Has healing options in healing items and magic.
+ Greater versatility with his offensive magic, minor support magic, swords, greatswords, shields, great-shields, armor, and accessories.
+ Instant kill/defeat options in Whack and Thwack.
+ Pep does not tire him out and can be pepped up again once it is exhausted with Pep Up...
- ...but Pep Up requires mana and it does not last as long as a natural pep.
- He does not have the vast range of spells as he does in Smash Bros. Ultimate.
- Cannot access the Pep Powers that require allies by himself.
- Limited amount of health and mana recovering items.
Ending puns:
"I'm just Saiyan, Trunks had this in the bag"
"In the end, Trunks' fate was Dundra-sealed."
MUSIC:
Name: "Future's Hopeful Sword"
The title makes reference to both combatants' time-traveling and associations with the future as well as their usage of the sword. It also refers to Trunks' Sword of Hope.
Art: Emerging from the Capsule Corp. logo would be Trunks' Sword of Hope clashing with the Luminary's Solar Flair sword or the Blade of Ultimate Power charged with pep power (the former is better as it would mean both combatants' fully powered sword would be on the cover art) which would be emerging from the Mark of Yggdrassil.
Sound: Orchestral rock. It starts with The Hero Goes Forth With A Determination, and as the fight picks up the pace, it starts to sound like Cha-La Head Cha La. In the middle, their would incorporate elements of Dragon Soul, and at the climax, the music flares up, with Cha-La Head Cha La blaring at full power. It's full power rock, like a mix of Brandon Yates' Hedge of Tomorrow and Dragon Dance. The music reaches a crescendo during the one stroke duel, and slowly but surely, we hear the DQ11 intro theme closing us out. To better envision this, think of it like Hero's victory screen in Smash Bros. Ultimate but more quiet and solemn.
This was my favorite DB! MU suggestion thus far by a large margin. I wanted to put in so many spells, Ki techniques, and references to the Android/Cell Saga. There are also some details I wanted to put in, like little insects or cells climbing up the Yggdrasil root when Trunks initially arrives, and some of those same cells/insects enter sneakily before Trunks closes the time machine, (however, upon rewatching, one would notice those little buggers, setting up the big boss early on), how the mechanical army would have elements of DBZ's Cell Jr. and DQ's Eggsoskeletons and iconic Golems, the big boss bot blocking the two's sword strikes like Goku blocked Trunks' sword swings, and how their time traveling transport being damaged as they enter the past, be it the time machine being burned and having pieces and chunks blown off or the Yggdrasil root starting to wither. I have so many ideas that I am genuinely considering developing these ideas with concept art and storyboards (too bad I have neither the skills, tech, or time). However, if this episode becomes a reality, then a lot will have to be cut, namely the mechanical menaces and the big bad bug boss bot.
THANK YOU AND I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS!
---------------------------------------------------
Foof! You really went all-out with this one, huh? I like it! You got down into the dirt with this one, choosing which artists, what music, and even left the final blow vague as who won (Though, judging by the minuses, I'd say Trunks is the winner). The premise is really neat, too! It'd be great to get another JRPG hero in here.
I'm also glad you didn't use Xeno Trunks because, well, I think Time Travel is such a confusingly stupid trope that's never pulled off perfectly. In my opinion, of course. Also, solid song name.
FUTURE'S HOPEFUL SWORD
Keep up the good work, and happy holidays!

MTV
MTV, or Music Television, is a cable television network that originated as a 24-hour music video platform. MTV made its premiere just after midnight on August 1, 1981, with the Buggles' "Video Killed the Radio Star" broadcast. Video disc jockeys (or "veejays") introduced videos and spoke about music news between clips, similar to Top 40 radio.Following a strong start, the network suffered in its early years. The reservoir of music videos was fairly shallow at the time, resulting in frequent recurrence of clips, while cable television remained a luxury that had yet to find a market. MTV's popularity skyrocketed once it extended its programming to include rhythm and blues musicians. Singles from Michael Jackson's Thriller (1982), such as "Billie Jean" and "Beat It," not only demonstrated the virtues of the music video genre, but also demonstrated that exposure on MTV could catapult musicians to superstardom. The network helped newcomers like Madonna and new wave legends Duran Duran achieve popularity by using more complex tactics to make the visual parts of the video as essential as the music. MTV also resurrected older musicians such as ZZ Top, Tina Turner, and Peter Gabriel, who each had their best successes of their careers as a result of strong rotation of their videos. MTV had had a notable impact on motion films, advertisements, and television by the mid-1980s. It additionally had an impact on the music industry; appearing nice (or at least intriguing) on MTV became as crucial as sounding good when it came to selling records.
youtube
When Viacom Inc. bought MTV Networks, the parent company of MTV, from Warner Communications Inc. in 1985, the programming change was drastic and quick. Instead of a veejay's full shift being covered by a free-form mix of music, videos were packed into separate blocks depending on genre. Specialty series such as 120 Minutes (alternative music), Headbangers Ball (heavy metal), and Yo! MTV Raps arose as a result (hip-hop). Soon, game programmes, reality series, animated cartoons, and soap operas joined the MTV schedule, and the network's focus changed from music to youth-oriented pop culture. By the mid-1990s, the bulk of MTV's daily schedule was devoted to non-music programming. VH1 has been showing adult-oriented rock videos since 1985, and it quickly filled the void with original programming such as Pop Up Video and the documentary series Behind the Music. MTV Networks created MTV2 in 1996 with the purpose of recapturing the enthusiasm symbolised by their 1980s "I Want My MTV" advertising campaign. MTV2 began with the same free-form framework as early MTV, but quickly moved to genre-specific programming. By 2005, MTV2 had taken the same path as its parent network, with the majority of its programming consisting of reality shows, celebrity news, and comedy. While music had a diminished prominence on MTV, visuals remained vital to the network's brand. MTV began honouring accomplishment in the medium with its annual Video Music Awards in 1984. Total Request Live (TRL), an hour-long interview and music video show that anchored the daily lineup, started in 1998. By the early twenty-first century, however, MTV was rapidly attempting to market itself as an Internet music destination. Its website included streaming video and music material, and in 2007, it launched Rhapsody America, a joint venture with RealNetworks and Verizon Wireless, as a subscription-based competitor to Apple Inc.'s enormously popular iTunes service; in 2010, it was split out as Rhapsody International. TRL was terminated in 2008, in part due to the popularity of watching music videos on the Internet, but it reappeared in 2017. When the Buggles' "Video Killed the Radio Star" appeared on MTV (Music TeleVision) in the summer of 1981, it only slightly overestimated the influence that the cable television network would have on music and popular culture. MTV, which broadcasted 24-hour music videos interrupted by "music news" and hosted by peppy "veejays," was accused of everything from decreasing viewers' attention spans to racism and discrimination.
youtube
Nonetheless, its quick speed and the increasingly complex techniques used in the music videos it transmitted had a considerable impact on film, television, and ads. It also had an impact on the music industry; appearing nice (or at least intriguing) on MTV became as crucial as sounding good when it came to selling records. Artists like Madonna and Michael Jackson rose to fame as a result of their use of the media. Jackson's Thriller (1982) videos were dance-oriented minimusicals that not only helped the album become a millions seller, but also expanded MTV programming to include black artists. MTV was instrumental in selling hip-hop to a primarily white suburban audience at the time. The network's programming has also expanded to include youth-oriented game programmes, animation, comedy, and bizarre documentaries. VH1, a sister network, was launched in 1985 to cater to a little older demographic, and by the 1990s, MTV had affiliates all over the world.
