I think I have an idea to help with Sundrop's anxiety. Maybe he can learn how to spin cotton into thread or yarn. That way, he is still using his hands but is also keeping him busy.

ooh, that is an idea. He does use the torn bits for things like rags or extra stuffing in his pillow.

But if he learned to make more with it using his hands that could become a hobby.

It's been a busy couple of days, but i finally finished up clove's grazing tank (not sure what to call it, but ykwim its the tank for her to stay in during storms / crappy days lol)!! It was really fun setting it up, despite how much time + resources it took to get everything right because of how big it is. I'm letting her test it out today, since its VERYY windy out and so far shes been liking it!

ALSO, i recently started introducing her to my batteries!! It went surprisingly well, i had chosen to wear a pair of welding gloves my dad gave me a while ago since i'd be holding clove in my hand while using my fingers to gaurd her incase any of them tried spitting / shocking. Luckily for me though, there werent too many issues!! i think the majority of them were mainly just curious, so there wasnt any aggression from most of them. Although, as you can probably guess by my wording, out of the four of them there's still a problem child lol

Her name is Cadi (short for cadmium), and she's the largest and most outwardly aggressive of the litter. She's fine with her littermates, but when i first adopted them she took the longest to adjust out of all of them. She's not too aggressive towards me anymore, aside from the occasional bite when im trying to scoot one of her siblings out of the way when im cleaning their enclosure, but i wasnt sure how she'd react to a new, completely unfamiliar object. Luckily, she didnt hurt clove (since once i saw her come out i became a little more cautious), but she did try shocking me, so thats when i decided to give all of them a break. I'm still taking it slow and only limiting introductions to once per day, but since that first meeting shes been getting better!! i know that it's going to take a while for all of them, including clove, to adjust, but so far we're off to a really strong start :]

as for introducing her to the batteries - THIS. this right here. people, THIS is the correct way to introduce small objects to each other. wearing protective gloves, watching for body language in every involved object, paying very close attention to what they do, and being cautious of any possible danger. THIS is the way. you only need to let them interact for a few minutes a day at first, NEVER leave them unattended. thank you 🔋🌼⚡️ for being so thoughtful of these objects!!!!!!

I went home after 11 months and while I was on the flight, trying different settings of the camera; when I captured this picture. And everytime I see it, I feel that cotton balls of the sky are trying to tell me something by letting that light pass as if it was projected from a projector.

Context: I get anxiety at home

Also how does sunny react when there's droughts or heatwaves where it's hard to regrow flowers. Does he take the day off usually?

People aren't usually out to on heated days(since it kinda goes back to the "making people happy" task he has) Would he have any other tasks left tho if that were the case?

I think he would start getting anxious.

If there are no flowers to take care of, if there are no humans around, then what is he to do? Those are his main duties. His other options are to talk to animals, but if it's too hot for humans then it's too hot for them; or hang with Moon, who is usually sleeping during the day.

He can't control the weather, but he would start to feel he didn't take as good care of the plant life as he could've.

Time to bust out the cotton balls.

But, if Moon is awake, he will help occupy his brother's time. Maybe play in the creek to keep cool.

After a couple days i think clove is finally used to me!! Taking her outside regularly definitely helped A LOTT, even though ive interacted with her in the past which probably also helped her adjust quickly, i think soon i might start slowly introducing her to my batteries! Although, i am a bit concerned on how i'll take her out to graze during the winter-- the colder season is gonna creep in soon and i expect that we'll have our first snow by october (last year it was on halloween, so im bracing for an early start to the winter). Most sources on google said that once the average temperature drops to a certain point she'll grow a winter coat, so im not too worried about the cold, but the lack of fresh grass + the frequent snowstorms are concerning.

Is it possible for me to simulate grazing in the backyard by taking a chunk of turf from the yard that's around the size of her enclosure and letting her eat that? My idea would be to place her cage near a window ( not on the actual window ofc! im not gonna put her on my windowsill, even if i tried her cage is WAYY too big for that lol ) so she can get some fresh air, while also taking care of and managing a sort of "mini backyard" inside her enclosure. Hurricane season is also approaching, so whatever winterproofing i do is also important for being able to let her get proper stimuli while keeping her safe from our crappy weather.

(Ofc, i'll still take her outside even when i do find an alternative, this is mainly just so i know shes still having her needs fulfilled even if i am literally unable to safely take her outside)

this is a fantastic question! you bring up a great concern here - i live in a pretty warm area so i didn't consider this. in the wild, cotton balls are native to warmer areas in the south where snow is light and have evolved their very downy coats to help stay warm during winter. in their native range they tend to be able to find fresh grass fine, but it's true they would struggle in deep snow further north.

you should ABSOLUTELY make an area for her to graze indoors! make sure it's near a window like you said; as long as you're taking her outside even if not to graze she should be okay with the window closed, but if you aren't able to for some reason you should keep the window open. windows block out uvb rays which is necessary for vitamin d (this applies to humans as well). due to their very light bodies heavy wind can quite literally blow them away and rain will completely soak through their coat, so keep her indoors during storms, even light ones. just remember that the size of the turf will need to be pretty large because cotton balls eat almost their body weight every day in grass!

also, try investing in a heat lamp during the coldest parts of winter if your house isn't able to heat well. cotton balls do best at around 80° fahrenheit!
