Excite your curiosity by visiting this centre for learning Universities are places for students to study, however Gressenheller University is also open to everyday citizens and tourists. Tours can be taken in some of the laboratories, giving you the chance to see the world’s most cutting-edge archaeological research up close. Keen professors and students from all places visit so that they can see the results of this research.

You know what. How silly of me to think that the Dress Up Minigame from azran legacy was going to be an honest to God fashion challenge. That's the most absurd, fucked up ugly thing I have ever seen. I GENUINELY had to look up to the correct options because I was shaking in distress. Nothing seems right, nothing fit together and I hope level 5 had a good fucking laugh at my expenses.

smashing my three hyperfixations together in a layton ft. ace attorney bttf au

hear me out (spoilers for the back to the future trilogy, unwound future, azran legacy and a spoiler-y character from ace attorney 3 (though no aa context is provided)

and yes, this deserves to be on my main blog

part 1: so we have luke as the mc (=marty) and hershel as his mentor (=doc). they live an ordinary life in 1960 london when hershel suddenly tells luke that he's constructed a time machine out of the laytonmobile (not telling flora (= jennifer except she's luke's sister figure instead of gf because i dont ship them) because of the safety shtick he has going on unfortunately </3), and demonstrates it to him.

the reason he built it? well, claire (dead wife) taught him a lot about physics and her field and yapped to him about the time machine they were creating, and it was always her dream to finish one, so hershel, following her death, took it upon himself to make it real because that's the kind of person he is.

dimitri (=taking the role of terrorist) too, wants access to a time machine to get claire back, and with the help of spies tracks layton down that night and has him killed. luke escapes to the past, a day 15 years prior that hershel had typed into the machine because of something personal i haven't thought of yet lmao. anyway.

the main characters here are college-aged layton, brenda (= lorraine) and clark (= george), as well as descole (= biff except he's not after romance). clark was actually an even more competent archeologist than hershel was during college, having earned a good reputation. descole, invested in the azran and wanting to hunt down target, constantly tries pressuring clark into giving him information, and since clark doesn't strike me as having much of a spine, he complies. he and brenda meet by accident when they literally bump into each other in the university hallway. luke, realizing he's in the past, runs to the university to get hershel and fix the damn time machine, prevents clark and brenda from running into each other (“oh, i would have bumped into that guy if it weren't for you! thank you!”), causing his parents to never meet. since they've told their first meeting story a lot, luke picks up on it and realizes he's cooked.

cue him trying to get them together, which is hard since brenda isn't a fan of clark being kind of a doormat and is just. not interested. (in the movie, martys mom falls for him because they're the same age when he's in the past, but i will not do this here because brenda would be around 20-ish and she's NOT falling for a 13 year old boy). in the end, he succeeds, also distracting descole when he boosts hershels confidence and reputation when enlisting him for repairing the busted laytonmobile (they run out of some maybe ancient af metal that is needed for the time machine to run, and hershel, being a great archeologist, digs it up for luke to get home somehow idk yet).

luke gets back to 1960 and, having warned hershel in the past, finds him alive and well at the site of the demonstration! yay! all is fun and games until…

part 2: layton, having just traveled 30 years into the future, comes back to 1960, frantic and panicked. someone who he assumes to be lukes child because of the similarity in appearance is threatening london, and he needs luke to help put an end to this madness. flora gets to be there this time, too, because she was very insistent on coming with them.

so they all travel to 1990, where scientists are disappearing. sound familiar? that's right, the young man is, in fact, not lukes child, but in fact, clive (= taking marty jrs place). in this au it wasn't the time machine accident that killed his parents but maybe an explosion in a factory since his birth is delayed a couple decades from the canon timeline, and he seeks revenge for the explosion by wanting to destroy the company and rich businessmen responsible for this (capitalism am i right). so hershel, luke and flora kinda stop him from doing that - except descole, older but still around, overhears luke and flora talking about buying a sports almanac and taking it to the past to make quick cash. and so, when the laytonmobile is left unattended, descole yeets himself to 1945 to give the book to his own younger self and brings the time machine back to 1990.

when hershel, luke and flora return to 1960, they find it a hellhole. in this reality, descole remained clarks terrorizer to the point of having him killed because he knew too much. with the money he bet on, he financed the downfall of targent and rules london now. realizing they need to fix what went wrong, they find out when exactly young descole got hold of the wretched book, and then travel back to 1945, where luke and flora go on a whole espionage mission to watch older descole give younger descole the book before spending a day snatching it away from him. they succeed, securing their timeline - until there's an accident and hershel is sent to the 1890s with no ticket back.

part 3: hershel left the time machine somewhere hidden for the kids to recover in 1945, with repair instructions for his younger self because he can actually replace the busted parts because technology advancement from the 1890s to the 1940s. in a letter, he tells luke and flora not to go back for him and that they should return to 1960 to their regular lives (flora will have to be staying with luke and his parents if they do so). however, before they do that, they accidentally discover hershels gravestone: died by poisoning, september 7, 1890, erected in eternal memory by his beloved nick. (flora and luke looking at each other. “who the hell is nick?!”)

and so, the kids go to 1890s london on september 2 to save layton's life. hershel is surprised - he's made a life for himself as librarian and historian, and was getting content with his fate of staying here. as soon as he hears that he will die, however, he agrees to go back to the 1960s - except the laytonmobile is out of fuel and there is a limited availability of gas stations. so until that is settled, they have 5 days.

hershel, in all this commotion, forgot that he had made a commitment and had agreed to help a group of american lawyers to help research a case that had ties to london. however, as fate would have it, he walks by when one of them slips and almost falls off a bridge. he manages to save the man's life, they lock eyes - oops.

turns out this is phoenix wright (= clara)(because yeah hi main blog followers, i am a laywright truther. layton vs ace attorney makes you ship them) together with his assistant maya fey and friend and prosecutor miles edgeworth (who needs to be there because his pompous cravat screams 1890s). the two of them instantly click, and it is only when maya calls phoenix nick that hershel realizes this is the nick referred to on his tombstone as seen on the photograph of it that luke and flora showed him.

but hershel is actually super in love and doesn't say no when phoenix invites him and the kids to a fancy ball taking place on the 5th. they dance and bond and have a great time until dahlia, a woman having a crush on phoenix (maybe the three lawyers are actually somewhat celebrities), gets very jealous and decides to poison laytons drink. he would have drunk it and died two days later if flora hadn't been interested in that kind of thing and instantly detected it, preventing her father from drinking the poison and thus preventing his demise.

phoenix and hershel run away from the ball into the night, spending the time at an empty park and kissing under the stars, but hershel is faced with the decision of either staying in 1890 with phoenix or going back to 1960 with his children. he goes with the latter because he's rational and feels enough guilt for the mess his machine has resulted in as it is, which leads to an argument between him and nick because the latter doesn't believe the time machine excuse, leaving him heartbroken.

meanwhile, dahlia is pissed at flora for screwing up her murder plan and wants revenge (i don't know how yet, bear with me here). maybe nick ends up saving the day because despite the fight, he doesn't want hershel or luke or flora to die. they reconcile, and phoenix, after seeing the time machine with his own eyes, instantly agrees to come with hershel, and maya and edgeworth also get to come because it'd be boring without them.

YEAH HAHA I love t4t hcs and trans hcs in general but I haven't really given them to that many characters!! When I was deeply involved in PL stuff I was still in the trenches of Christian conservatism- even tho i didnt agree with it my brain still was too scared to do anything that was deemed "evil" (aka anything that isn’t cis or straight) due to my parents willing to punish me for any online shenanigans. The Torchwood Encyclopaedia claims that Denise Reilly succeeds Brian Green, since the next PM chronologically is ‘Unnamed Female PM from BF Silence Audios’ these have been welded together.

Actual dates of Kenneth Le Blanc and Unnamed Female PM are unknown, but are set in the UNIT audios between Power of Three (2012-2013) and DotD (2013).

Felicity and Fiona are given as PMs in Aliens Among Us and God Among Us (Torchwood S5 and S6) released and presumably set in 2018 and 2019 respectively.

I was talking to my brother about Last Specter, specifically how Brenda had been kidnapped by a guy pretending to be their butler, and I explained how there’s a scene where Clark invites Layton and gang to stay for dinner, and is even more insistent that Layton pick the wine because he loves wine so much, but when they get into the cellar and Emmy’s like “I didn’t know you loved wine!”, Layton is like “I don’t. I think he just wanted us to look around the cellar for some reason. Weird.” And he didn’t respond but ten minutes later, sent me this.

Brenda's into an older woman, obviously. Brenda's love for Sharon is strong and in Season 7 she's feeling protective of having Sharon as an ally and tentative friend as well. Even though Sharon is technically a lower rank than Brenda, she's in a different department and so she's able to be friends with Brenda in a way that she always has to be sort of separate from the Major Crimes team and Brenda doesn't really have friends (did we see her have any friends over the course of the show??)

People are going to for sure raise their eyebrows in surprise when they hear that Brenda and Sharon are dating! But they don't care about that as long as they're in it together!

A big reason I picked this one is the reference to candy. But also it's sort of like Sharon to Brenda "yes, you're married but we can't stay separate for long and I'm so into you."

Back to the idea that people would be shocked to learn that Brenda and Sharon were dating, it's an anthem about how the only thing that matters in a relationship is the way that the people in it feel about each other. If others could see what they see in each other, they wouldn't have any questions about why they love each other.

This is like Darth Raydor is a stone cold badass but she has a secret smile for Brenda Leigh Johnson and also Sharon is responsible for Brenda being not totally screwed during the lawsuit in Season 7.

Brenda and Sharon being together would definitely be a little bit scandalous to the people that know them and also because Brenda's married. So even if she gets divorced to be with Sharon and not have an affair with her, it's still a scandal. But they can keep it on the down low and they're definitely into each other.

Brenda and Sharon fell in love and they're a bit of star crossed lovers because of Brenda's marriage and Sharon knows it's going to break her heart.

A BIG part of the reason I picked this was because it's called RED WINE Supernova and Brenda can't get enough but also it's like "oops, I fell in love with you" which is definitely my headcanon for this pairing. They fell in love despite all the odds. So why not do something about it...

Sharon was really burned by Jackson and she definitely felt like she was better alone but then Brenda came along and they fell in love and Sharon is happy to not be alone anymore. But she also is realistic and acknowledges that maybe it won't be forever, but if it is then that's fantastic.

Brenda and Sharon are both kind of out there doing their own things, they march to their own drums, they're independent badass women. My headcanon is that Brenda is mostly with Fritz because it's basically the path of least resistance. Not that she didn't love him but I don't think she chose really any of the milestones that happened in their marriage. So I think when she fell in love with Sharon, it was like a revelation and the finding of a kindred spirit.

This is maybe the least tonally consistent but I really liked the imagery of Sharon basically being like "hey, when you break up with Fritz, I'm next" because she knows she's a catch. And much like Red Wine Supernova was chosen because of Brenda's love of Merlot, Sharon loves white wine and I enjoyed that bookending of the wine preferences.

Welcome to the Layton NPC Showdown!

This is a bracket to determine which of the many memorable NPCs from across the Professor Layton games are the greatest.

GAMES INCLUDED: Every game except LBMR. Eternal Diva characters are also not included here.

WHAT COUNTS AS AN NPC?: Anyone who doesn't have a puzzle animation. Characters excluded are Layton, Luke, Flora, Clive, Emmy, Randall, Aurora, Des, Espella, Phoenix, Maya, Katrielle, Ernest, Sherl, Hastings, and Emiliana.

WILL THERE BE NOMINATIONS?: Nope! Every NPC will be included.

WHAT ABOUT THE LAYTONMOBILE/MOLENTARY EXPRESS?: No vehicles. Not characters.

WHAT ABOUT THE PUZZLE LADS/LASSES?: I only plan on including characters that we can speak to in-game, so no Puzzle Lads or Lasses. Sorry to the people who like them 😔

WHICH CHARACTERS ARE INCLUDED, THEN?: Anyone who isn't an exception listed above that is in the profiles of the game! A full list is enclosed below.

WHEN WILL THE TOURNAMENT START?: More information forthcoming on that! I have to seed the bracket first :)

WHY IS NAIYA YOUR ICON?: In my opinion, she's one of the more underrated NPCs of the series. I'll probably cycle through some of the ones I have available to me right now.

WHAT CRITERIA SHOULD I VOTE ON?: Whatever makes you happy :)

ARE ALTER EGOS SEPERATE CHARACTERS?: No. For instance, Ratman is not included because his secret identity is in the tournament.

US OR UK NAMES?: I will try to make available as many names for the NPCs as possible! Which includes their Japanese names and as many names in the localizations as I am able to obtain from the wiki and my own sources. I'll probably reliably have the English (both versions where applicable), Japanese, and French names for every character when I do the bracket rounds. The list below however is entirely in English.

And she says, "And you are mine." (and then i died, and haven't recovered in over twenty years. So. Yeah.)

Favourite colour: blue, preferably a sky blue alongside a bright, happy yellow, like a kid coloring sunshiney skies with crayons.

Favourite game: I dunno, i'm big into this one right now where you shoot the colored balls, but they hit this spinny thing and it's always in motion. OG games: Mario Bros 1, Mario Bros 2, The Legend of Rygar, Milon's Secret Castle, Tetris (NES), Arkenoid, Asteroid (Atari), Terminator 2 (GameBoy), JewelMaster, Cool Spot (Sega Genesis)... and then i quit. Oh, PC: Snood, Penguin escape, Magic: The Gathering, the original one). Games you play without a screen: Magic: The Gathering, DnD, PENTE!!!, double solitaire, Apples to Apples, Bananagrams.

Song stuck in your head: Probably something by Sleep Token, they have me in a death-grip right now because they work for my TenRose series. Or "Beautiful World" by Take That, for the same reason.

Weirdest habit/trait? I too cannot have any fingernails long enough for me to see white, lol. In science class in HS they had us scrape our nails and look at the crap under 'em with a scope, and, just. NO. (not necessarily weirdest, maybe. When i was younger and living with a very controlling father, i used to eat paper off my books, but that's a past thing.)

Hobbies: writing all the time. Lots of other ones, mostly involving collecting stuff, otherwise. Drawing, esp maps and weird fantasy creatures.

Something you're good at: writing, drawing (depending on what it is, lol), procrastinating. EXCELLENT, god-tier at procrastinating!

Something you're bad at: remembering to do somethign if it's not literally in front of my face.

Something you love: writing, fangirling, my kids, cats, horses, Dionysus and my other Greek deities, hanging with my magickal peeps, chocolate, salt and vinegar stuff, sour stuff, Love as a universal energy, music (esp with amazing lyrics or incredible drumming/bass)

Something you could talk about for hours off the cuff: whatever i'm hyperfixated on at that moment. Usually some pairing or other. Lately i'm also back on my "Secretariat was impossible wtf" bullshit, because that horse was BAFFLING. (i don't even support horse-racing, it's awful, but holy fuck that animal.)

Something you hate: unfairness/injustice, current US policies and a lot of past ones, racism/sexism/homophobia/anti-homelessness crap, capitalism... all the 'isms (except for the 'tism, which i have and consider a superpower, lol).

Something you collect: oh, that's a list! books, movies, music, games, money from places, bottle-caps, fandom crap, t-shirts from concerts/nerd stuff, just whatever. All the things, lol.

Something you forget: easier to write down what i don't forget. Probably because i forgot it, lol.

Favourite movie/show: LOOOONG LIST. See above re fandoms. Movies-wise, The Abyss (director's cut), Fried Green Tomatoes (and the book ofc), Apollo 13 never fails to make me bawl, The Terminator, Aliens (three of these have Michael Biehn in them because i was obsessed with him as a hormone-rattled teen), hmmm, surely many many more.

Favourite food: sour-ish things like pastrami and corned beef and saurkraut, pesto-related things, various types of chips like dill and salt and vinegar that fit in that category, and sour pickles only if they're so sour they turn my face inside-out. (I haven't been fully satisfied by a pickle since i was a kid at Knott's Berry Farm)

Favourite animal: Cats, horses.

Stinging bees in a jar is a lovely kwami swap au au where Nathalie becomes hornet a bee themed anti hero!

What’s love got to do with it?

This is an au that’s been in my brain for yonks, basically it’s a cheesy romcom edelclaude au (not to be mistaken for my other fic, which is a brenda x clark one with the same name)

Basically El and Claude meet at a mutual friends wedding (Dorthea and Petra’s) and hit it of quite well

They share the night together and are basking in the bliss of a one night stand

But both of them are very skeptical of love and it leads to some matchmaking shenanigans from their friends when they notice how well the two of them mesh together but won’t actually date

It ends happily? I haven’t got that far yet with planning?

So yeah Romcom Edelclaude au basically!!
